Sūrah 83
al-Muṭaffifeen
The Defrauders · 36 verses
Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥeem
- 1Woe to those who give less [than due]وَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
- 2Who, when they take a measure from people, take in fullٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
- 3But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause lossوَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
- 4Do they not think that they will be resurrectedأَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
- 5For a tremendous Dayلِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ
- 6The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worldsيَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
- 7No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeenكَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٖ
- 8And what can make you know what is sijjeenوَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٞ
- 9It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribedكِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
- 10Woe, that Day, to the deniersوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
- 11Who deny the Day of Recompenseٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
- 12And none deny it except every sinful transgressorوَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
- 13When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoplesإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
- 14No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earningكَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
- 15No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitionedكَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
- 16Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfireثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
- 17Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to denyثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
- 18No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyunكَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
- 19And what can make you know what is 'illiyyunوَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
- 20It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribedكِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ
- 21Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allāh]يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
- 22Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasureإِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
- 23On adorned couches, observingعَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
- 24You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasureتَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
- 25They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealedيُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقٖ مَّخۡتُومٍ
- 26The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors competeخِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكٞۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
- 27And its mixture is of Tasneemوَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ
- 28A spring from which those near [to Allāh] drinkعَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
- 29Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believedإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ
- 30And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glancesوَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
- 31And when they returned to their people, they would return jestingوَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ
- 32And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lostوَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
- 33But they had not been sent as guardians over themوَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ
- 34So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelieversفَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ
- 35On adorned couches, observingعَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
- 36Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to doهَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ
