Sūrah 80

ʿAbasa

He Frowned · 42 verses
Bismillāhir-Raḥmānir-Raḥeem
  1. 1The Prophet frowned and turned awayعَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
  2. 2Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ
  3. 3But what would make you perceive, [O Muḥammad], that perhaps he might be purifiedوَمَا يُدۡرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
  4. 4Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit himأَوۡ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰٓ
  5. 5As for he who thinks himself without needأَمَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
  6. 6To him you give attentionفَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
  7. 7And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purifiedوَمَا عَلَيۡكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
  8. 8But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge]وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسۡعَىٰ
  9. 9While he fears [Allāh]وَهُوَ يَخۡشَىٰ
  10. 10From him you are distractedفَأَنتَ عَنۡهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
  11. 11No! Indeed, these verses are a reminderكَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذۡكِرَةٞ
  12. 12So whoever wills may remember itفَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
  13. 13[It is recorded] in honored sheetsفِي صُحُفٖ مُّكَرَّمَةٖ
  14. 14Exalted and purifiedمَّرۡفُوعَةٖ مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ
  15. 15[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angelsبِأَيۡدِي سَفَرَةٖ
  16. 16Noble and dutifulكِرَامِۭ بَرَرَةٖ
  17. 17Cursed is man; how disbelieving is heقُتِلَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكۡفَرَهُۥ
  18. 18From what substance did He create himمِنۡ أَيِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
  19. 19From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for himمِن نُّطۡفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
  20. 20Then He eased the way for himثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
  21. 21Then He causes his death and provides a grave for himثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقۡبَرَهُۥ
  22. 22Then when He wills, He will resurrect himثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
  23. 23No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded himكَلَّا لَمَّا يَقۡضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
  24. 24Then let mankind look at his foodفَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
  25. 25How We poured down water in torrentsأَنَّا صَبَبۡنَا ٱلۡمَآءَ صَبّٗا
  26. 26Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts]ثُمَّ شَقَقۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ شَقّٗا
  27. 27And caused to grow within it grainفَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا حَبّٗا
  28. 28And grapes and herbageوَعِنَبٗا وَقَضۡبٗا
  29. 29And olive and palm treesوَزَيۡتُونٗا وَنَخۡلٗا
  30. 30And gardens of dense shrubberyوَحَدَآئِقَ غُلۡبٗا
  31. 31And fruit and grassوَفَٰكِهَةٗ وَأَبّٗا
  32. 32[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestockمَّتَٰعٗا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
  33. 33But when there comes the Deafening Blastفَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
  34. 34On the Day a man will flee from his brotherيَوۡمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ
  35. 35And his mother and his fatherوَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
  36. 36And his wife and his childrenوَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
  37. 37For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for himلِكُلِّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ شَأۡنٞ يُغۡنِيهِ
  38. 38[Some] faces, that Day, will be brightوُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ مُّسۡفِرَةٞ
  39. 39Laughing, rejoicing at good newsضَاحِكَةٞ مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةٞ
  40. 40And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dustوَوُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَلَيۡهَا غَبَرَةٞ
  41. 41Blackness will cover themتَرۡهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
  42. 42Those are the disbelievers, the wicked onesأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَفَرَةُ ٱلۡفَجَرَةُ
