بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 92 — Al-Lail

  1. 1وَاللَّيْلِwa-al-layliBy the nightإِذَاidhāwhenيَغْشَىyaghshāit covers
  2. 2وَالنَّهَارِwal-nahāriAnd the dayإِذَاidhāwhenتَجَلَّىtajallāit shines in brightness
  3. 3وَمَاwamāAnd He Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالذَّكَرَl-dhakarathe maleوَالْأُنْثَىwal-unthāand the female
  4. 4إِنَّinnaIndeedسَعْيَكُمْsaʿyakumyour effortsلَشَتَّىlashattā(are) surely diverse
  5. 5فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoأَعْطَىaʿṭāgivesوَاتَّقَىwa-ittaqāand fears
  6. 6وَصَدَّقَwaṣaddaqaAnd believesبِالْحُسْنَىbil-ḥus'nāin the best
  7. 7فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُfasanuyassiruhuThen We will ease himلِلْيُسْرَىlil'yus'rātowards [the] ease
  8. 8وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoبَخِلَbakhilawithholdsوَاسْتَغْنَىwa-is'taghnāand considers himself free from need
  9. 9وَكَذَّبَwakadhabaAnd deniesبِالْحُسْنَىbil-ḥus'nāthe best
  10. 10فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُfasanuyassiruhuThen We will ease himلِلْعُسْرَىlil'ʿus'rātowards [the] difficulty
  11. 11وَمَاwamāAnd notيُغْنِيyugh'nīwill availعَنْهُʿanhuhimمَالُهُmāluhuhis wealthإِذَاidhāwhenتَرَدَّىtaraddāhe falls
  12. 12إِنَّinnaIndeedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon Usلَلْهُدَىlalhudā(is) the guidance
  13. 13وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَنَاlanāfor Usلَلْءَاخِرَةَlalākhirata(is) the Hereafterوَالْأُولَىwal-ūlāand the first (life)
  14. 14فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْfa-andhartukumSo I warn youنَارًاnāran(of) a Fireتَلَظَّىtalaẓẓāblazing
  15. 15لَاlāNotيَصْلَاهَاyaṣlāhāwill burn (in) itإِلَّاillāexceptالْأَشْقَىl-ashqāthe most wretched
  16. 16الَّذِيalladhīThe one whoكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedوَتَوَلَّىwatawallāand turned away
  17. 17وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَاwasayujannabuhāBut will be removed from itالْأَتْقَىl-atqāthe righteous
  18. 18الَّذِيalladhīThe one whoيُؤْتِيyu'tīgivesمَالَهُmālahuhis wealthيَتَزَكَّىyatazakkāpurifying himself
  19. 19وَمَاwamāAnd notلِأَحَدٍli-aḥadinfor anyoneعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith himمِنْminanyنِعْمَةٍniʿ'matinfavorتُجْزَىtuj'zāto be recompensed
  20. 20إِلَّاillāExceptابْتِغَاءَib'tighāaseekingوَجْهِwajhi(the) Countenanceرَبِّهِrabbihi(of) his Lordالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlāthe Most High
  21. 21وَلَسَوْفَwalasawfaAnd soon surelyيَرْضَىyarḍāhe will be pleased
