بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah 91 — Ash-Shams
- 1وَالشَّمْسِwal-shamsiBy the sunوَضُحَاهَاwaḍuḥāhāand its brightness
- 2وَالْقَمَرِwal-qamariAnd the moonإِذَاidhāwhenتَلَاهَاtalāhāit follows it
- 3وَالنَّهَارِwal-nahāriAnd the dayإِذَاidhāwhenجَلَّاهَاjallāhāit displays it
- 4وَاللَّيْلِwa-al-layliAnd the nightإِذَاidhāwhenيَغْشَاهَاyaghshāhāit covers it
- 5وَالسَّمَاءِwal-samāiAnd the heavenوَمَاwamāand He Whoبَنَاهَاbanāhāconstructed it
- 6وَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiAnd the earthوَمَاwamāand He Whoطَحَاهَاṭaḥāhāspread it
- 7وَنَفْسٍwanafsinAnd (the) soulوَمَاwamāand He Whoسَوَّاهَاsawwāhāproportioned it
- 8فَأَلْهَمَهَاfa-alhamahāAnd He inspired itفُجُورَهَاfujūrahā(to understand) what is wrong for itوَتَقْوَاهَاwataqwāhāand what is right for it
- 9قَدْqadIndeedأَفْلَحَaflaḥahe succeedsمَنْmanwhoزَكَّاهَاzakkāhāpurifies it
- 10وَقَدْwaqadAnd indeedخَابَkhābahe failsمَنْmanwhoدَسَّاهَاdassāhācorrupts it
- 11كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedثَمُودُthamūduThamudبِطَغْوَاهَاbiṭaghwāhāby their transgression
- 12إِذِidhiWhenانْبَعَثَinbaʿatha(was) sent forthأَشْقَاهَاashqāhā(the) most wicked of them
- 13فَقَالَfaqālaBut saidلَهُمْlahumto themرَسُولُrasūlu(the) Messengerاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahنَاقَةَnāqata(It is the) she-camelاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَسُقْيَاهَاwasuq'yāhāand her drink
- 14فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied himفَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhāand they hamstrung herفَدَمْدَمَfadamdamaSo destroyedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimthemرَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir Lordبِذَنْبِهِمْbidhanbihimfor their sinفَسَوَّاهَاfasawwāhāand leveled them
- 15وَلَاwalāAnd notيَخَافُyakhāfuHe fearsعُقْبَاهَاʿuq'bāhāits consequences
