بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah 85 — Al-Burooj
- 1وَالسَّمَاءِwal-samāiBy the skyذَاتِdhāticontainingالْبُرُوجِl-burūjithe constellations
- 2وَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiAnd the Dayالْمَوْعُودِl-mawʿūdiPromised
- 3وَشَاهِدٍwashāhidinAnd (the) witnessوَمَشْهُودٍwamashhūdinand what is witnessed
- 4قُتِلَqutilaDestroyed wereأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(the) companionsالْأُخْدُودِl-ukh'dūdi(of) the pit
- 5النَّارِal-nāri(Of) the fireذَاتِdhātifullالْوَقُودِl-waqūdi(of) the fuel
- 6إِذْidhWhenهُمْhumtheyعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāby itقُعُودٌquʿūdun(were) sitting
- 7وَهُمْwahumAnd theyعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhatيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey were doingبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīnato the believersشُهُودٌshuhūdunwitnesses
- 8وَمَاwamāAnd notنَقَمُواnaqamūthey resentedمِنْهُمْmin'hum[of] themإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيُؤْمِنُواyu'minūthey believedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mightyالْحَمِيدِl-ḥamīdithe Praiseworthy
- 9الَّذِيalladhīThe One Whoلَهُlahufor Himمُلْكُmul'ku(is) the dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth;وَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلَىʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingشَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) a Witness
- 10إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoفَتَنُواfatanūpersecutedالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing menوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing womenثُمَّthummathenلَمْlamnotيَتُوبُواyatūbūthey repentedفَلَهُمْfalahumthen for themعَذَابُʿadhābu(is) the punishmentجَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hellوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابُʿadhābu(is the) punishmentالْحَرِيقِl-ḥarīqi(of) the Burning Fire
- 11إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsلَهُمْlahumfor themجَنَّاتٌjannātun(will be) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversذَلِكَdhālikaThatالْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the successالْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe great
- 12إِنَّinnaIndeedبَطْشَbaṭsha(the) Gripرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَشَدِيدٌlashadīdun(is) surely strong
- 13إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed HeهُوَhuwaHeيُبْدِئُyub'di-uoriginatesوَيُعِيدُwayuʿīduand repeats
- 14وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْغَفُورُl-ghafūru(is) the Oft-Forgivingالْوَدُودُl-wadūduthe Most Loving
- 15ذُوdhūOwner (of)الْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throneالْمَجِيدُl-majīduthe Glorious
- 16فَعَّالٌfaʿʿālunDoerلِمَاlimāof whatيُرِيدُyurīduHe intends
- 17هَلْhalHasأَتَىكَatākacome to youحَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) storyالْجُنُودِl-junūdi(of) the hosts
- 18فِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَثَمُودَwathamūdaand Thamud
- 19بَلِbaliNay!الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveفِيfī(are) inتَكْذِيبٍtakdhībindenial
- 20وَاللَّهُwal-lahuBut Allahمِنْminfromوَرَائِهِمْwarāihimbehind themمُحِيطٌmuḥīṭunencompasses
- 21بَلْbalNay!هُوَhuwaItقُرْءَانٌqur'ānun(is) a QuranمَجِيدٌmajīdunGlorious
- 22فِيfīInلَوْحٍlawḥina TabletمَحْفُوظٍmaḥfūẓinGuarded
