بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 83 — Al-Mutaffifin

  1. 1وَيْلٌwaylunWoeلِلْمُطَفِّفِينَlil'muṭaffifīnato those who give less
  2. 2الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoإِذَاidhāwhenاكْتَالُواik'tālūthey take a measureعَلَىʿalāfromالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleيَسْتَوْفُونَyastawfūnathey take in full
  3. 3وَإِذَاwa-idhāBut whenكَالُوهُمْkālūhumthey give by measure (to) themأَوْaworوَزَنُوهُمْwazanūhumthey weigh (for) themيُخْسِرُونَyukh'sirūnathey give less
  4. 4أَلَاalāDo notيَظُنُّyaẓunnuthinkأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyمَبْعُوثُونَmabʿūthūna(will be) resurrected
  5. 5لِيَوْمٍliyawminFor a DayعَظِيمٍʿaẓīminGreat
  6. 6يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَقُومُyaqūmuwill standالنَّاسُl-nāsumankindلِرَبِّlirabbibefore (the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  7. 7كَلَّاkallāNay!إِنَّinnaIndeedكِتَابَkitāba(the) recordالْفُجَّارِl-fujāri(of) the wickedلَفِيlafī(is) surely inسِجِّينٍsijjīninSijjin
  8. 8وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَدْرَاكَadrākacan make you knowمَاwhatسِجِّينٌsijjīnun(is) Sijjin
  9. 9كِتَابٌkitābunA bookمَرْقُومٌmarqūmunwritten
  10. 10وَيْلٌwaylunWoeيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayلِلْمُكَذِّبِينَlil'mukadhibīnato the deniers
  11. 11الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُكَذِّبُونَyukadhibūnadenyبِيَوْمِbiyawmi(the) Dayالدِّينِl-dīni(of) the Judgment
  12. 12وَمَاwamāAnd notيُكَذِّبُyukadhibucan denyبِهِbihi[of] itإِلَّاillāexceptكُلُّkullueveryمُعْتَدٍmuʿ'tadintransgressorأَثِيمٍathīminsinful
  13. 13إِذَاidhāWhenتُتْلَىtut'lāare recitedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himءَايَاتُنَاāyātunāOur Versesقَالَqālahe saysأَسَاطِيرُasāṭīruStoriesالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
  14. 14كَلَّاkallāNay!بَلْbalButرَانَrāna(the) stain has coveredعَلَىʿalā[over]قُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsمَا(for) whatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearning
  15. 15كَلَّاkallāNay!إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyعَنْʿanfromرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayلَمَحْجُوبُونَlamaḥjūbūnasurely will be partitioned
  16. 16ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed theyلَصَالُواlaṣālū(surely) will burnالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(in) the Hellfire
  17. 17ثُمَّthummaThenيُقَالُyuqāluit will be saidهَذَاhādhāThisالَّذِيalladhī(is) whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)بِهِbihi[of it]تُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny
  18. 18كَلَّاkallāNay!إِنَّinnaIndeedكِتَابَkitāba(the) recordالْأَبْرَارِl-abrāri(of) the righteousلَفِيlafī(will be) surely inعِلِّيِّينَʿilliyyīnaIlliyin
  19. 19وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَدْرَاكَadrākacan make you knowمَاwhatعِلِّيُّونَʿilliyyūna(is) Illiyun
  20. 20كِتَابٌkitābunA bookمَرْقُومٌmarqūmunwritten
  21. 21يَشْهَدُهُyashhaduhuWitness itالْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathose brought near
  22. 22إِنَّinnaIndeedالْأَبْرَارَl-abrārathe righteousلَفِيlafī(will be) surely inنَعِيمٍnaʿīminbliss
  23. 23عَلَىʿalāOnالْأَرَائِكِl-arāikithronesيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnaobserving
  24. 24تَعْرِفُtaʿrifuYou will recognizeفِيinوُجُوهِهِمْwujūhihimtheir facesنَضْرَةَnaḍrata(the) radianceالنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) bliss
  25. 25يُسْقَوْنَyus'qawnaThey will be given to drinkمِنْminofرَحِيقٍraḥīqina pure wineمَخْتُومٍmakhtūminsealed
  26. 26خِتَامُهُkhitāmuhuIts sealمِسْكٌmis'kun(will be of) muskوَفِيwafīAnd forذَلِكَdhālikathatفَلْيَتَنَافَسِfalyatanāfasilet aspireالْمُتَنَافِسُونَl-mutanāfisūnathe aspirers
  27. 27وَمِزَاجُهُwamizājuhuAnd its mixtureمِنْmin(is) ofتَسْنِيمٍtasnīminTasnim
  28. 28عَيْنًاʿaynanA springيَشْرَبُyashrabuwill drinkبِهَاbihāfrom itالْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathose brought near
  29. 29إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَجْرَمُواajramūcommitted crimesكَانُواkānūused (to)مِنَminaatالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedيَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūnalaugh
  30. 30وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenمَرُّواmarrūthey passedبِهِمْbihimby themيَتَغَامَزُونَyataghāmazūnathey winked at one another
  31. 31وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenانْقَلَبُواinqalabūthey returnedإِلَىilātoأَهْلِهِمُahlihimutheir peopleانْقَلَبُواinqalabūthey would returnفَكِهِينَfakihīnajesting
  32. 32وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَأَوْهُمْra-awhumthey saw themقَالُواqālūthey saidإِنَّinnaIndeedهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseلَضَالُّونَlaḍāllūnasurely have gone astray
  33. 33وَمَاwamāBut notأُرْسِلُواur'silūthey had been sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themحَافِظِينَḥāfiẓīna(as) guardians
  34. 34فَالْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo todayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedمِنَminaatالْكُفَّارِl-kufārithe disbelieversيَضْحَكُونَyaḍḥakūnathey will laugh
  35. 35عَلَىʿalāOnالْأَرَائِكِl-arāikithe thronesيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnaobserving
  36. 36هَلْhalHave (not)ثُوِّبَthuwwibabeen paidالْكُفَّارُl-kufāruthe disbelieversمَا(for) whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnado
