بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 81 — At-Takwir

  1. 1إِذَاidhāWhenالشَّمْسُl-shamsuthe sunكُوِّرَتْkuwwiratis wrapped up
  2. 2وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالنُّجُومُl-nujūmuthe starsانْكَدَرَتْinkadaratfall losing their luster
  3. 3وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsسُيِّرَتْsuyyiratare moved away
  4. 4وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْعِشَارُl-ʿishāruthe full-term she-camelsعُطِّلَتْʿuṭṭilat(are) left untended;
  5. 5وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْوُحُوشُl-wuḥūshuthe wild beastsحُشِرَتْḥushiratare gathered
  6. 6وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْبِحَارُl-biḥāruthe seasسُجِّرَتْsujjiratare made to overflow
  7. 7وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالنُّفُوسُl-nufūsuthe soulsزُوِّجَتْzuwwijatare paired
  8. 8وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْمَوْءُودَةُl-mawūdatuthe female infant buried aliveسُئِلَتْsu-ilatis asked
  9. 9بِأَيِّbi-ayyiFor whatذَنْبٍdhanbinsinقُتِلَتْqutilatshe was killed
  10. 10وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالصُّحُفُl-ṣuḥufuthe pagesنُشِرَتْnushiratare laid open
  11. 11وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe skyكُشِطَتْkushiṭatis stripped away
  12. 12وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuthe Hellfireسُعِّرَتْsuʿʿiratis set ablaze
  13. 13وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenالْجَنَّةُl-janatuParadiseأُزْلِفَتْuz'lifatis brought near
  14. 14عَلِمَتْʿalimatWill knowنَفْسٌnafsuna soulمَاwhatأَحْضَرَتْaḥḍaratit has brought
  15. 15فَلَاfalāBut nay!أُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِالْخُنَّسِbil-khunasiby the retreating planets
  16. 16الْجَوَارِal-jawāriThose that runالْكُنَّسِl-kunasi(and) disappear
  17. 17وَاللَّيْلِwa-al-layliAnd the nightإِذَاidhāwhenعَسْعَسَʿasʿasait departs
  18. 18وَالصُّبْحِwal-ṣub'ḥiAnd the dawnإِذَاidhāwhenتَنَفَّسَtanaffasait breathes
  19. 19إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itلَقَوْلُlaqawlu(is) surely a wordرَسُولٍrasūlin(of) a Messengerكَرِيمٍkarīminnoble
  20. 20ذِيdhīPossessor ofقُوَّةٍquwwatinpowerعِنْدَʿindawithذِيdhī(the) Owner ofالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throneمَكِينٍmakīninsecure
  21. 21مُطَاعٍmuṭāʿinOne to be obeyedثَمَّthammaandأَمِينٍamīnintrustworthy
  22. 22وَمَاwamāAnd notصَاحِبُكُمْṣāḥibukum(is) your companionبِمَجْنُونٍbimajnūninmad
  23. 23وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyرَءَاهُraāhuhe saw himبِالْأُفُقِbil-ufuqiin the horizonالْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
  24. 24وَمَاwamāAnd notهُوَhuwahe (is)عَلَىʿalāonالْغَيْبِl-ghaybithe unseenبِضَنِينٍbiḍanīnina withholder
  25. 25وَمَاwamāAnd notهُوَhuwaitبِقَوْلِbiqawli(is the) wordشَيْطَانٍshayṭānin(of) Shaitaanرَجِيمٍrajīminaccursed
  26. 26فَأَيْنَfa-aynaSo whereتَذْهَبُونَtadhhabūnaare you going
  27. 27إِنْinNotهُوَhuwaitإِلَّاillā(is) exceptذِكْرٌdhik'runa reminderلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnato the worlds
  28. 28لِمَنْlimanFor whoeverشَاءَshāawillsمِنْكُمْminkumamong youأَنْantoيَسْتَقِيمَyastaqīmatake a straight way
  29. 29وَمَاwamāAnd notتَشَاءُونَtashāūnayou willإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيَشَاءَyashāawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahرَبُّrabbuLordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
