بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Surah 79 — An-Naazi'aat
- 1وَالنَّازِعَاتِwal-nāziʿātiBy those who extractغَرْقًاgharqanviolently
- 2وَالنَّاشِطَاتِwal-nāshiṭātiAnd those who draw outنَشْطًاnashṭangently
- 3وَالسَّابِحَاتِwal-sābiḥātiAnd those who glideسَبْحًاsabḥanswimming
- 4فَالسَّابِقَاتِfal-sābiqātiAnd those who race each otherسَبْقًاsabqan(in) a race
- 5فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِfal-mudabirātiAnd those who arrangeأَمْرًاamran(the) matter
- 6يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayتَرْجُفُtarjufuwill quakeالرَّاجِفَةُl-rājifatuthe quaking one
- 7تَتْبَعُهَاtatbaʿuhāFollows itالرَّادِفَةُl-rādifatuthe subsequent
- 8قُلُوبٌqulūbunHeartsيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayوَاجِفَةٌwājifatunwill palpitate
- 9أَبْصَارُهَاabṣāruhāTheir eyesخَاشِعَةٌkhāshiʿatunhumbled
- 10يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayأَءِنَّاa-innāWill weلَمَرْدُودُونَlamardūdūnaindeed be returnedفِيfītoالْحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfiratithe former state
- 11أَءِذَاa-idhāWhat! Whenكُنَّاkunnāwe areعِظَامًاʿiẓāmanbonesنَخِرَةًnakhiratandecayed
- 12قَالُواqālūThey sayتِلْكَtil'kaThisإِذًاidhanthenكَرَّةٌkarratun(would be) a returnخَاسِرَةٌkhāsiratunlosing
- 13فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāThen onlyهِيَhiyaitزَجْرَةٌzajratun(will be) a shoutوَاحِدَةٌwāḥidatunsingle
- 14فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd behold!هُمْhumTheyبِالسَّاهِرَةِbil-sāhirati(will be) awakened
- 15هَلْhalHasأَتَىكَatāka(there) come to youحَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) storyمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musa
- 16إِذْidhWhenنَادَاهُnādāhucalled himرَبُّهُrabbuhuhis Lordبِالْوَادِbil-wādiin the valleyالْمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacredطُوًىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
- 17اذْهَبْidh'habGoإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heطَغَىṭaghā(has) transgressed
- 18فَقُلْfaqulAnd sayهَلْhalWouldلَكَlaka[for] youإِلَىilā[until]أَنْan[that]تَزَكَّىtazakkāpurify yourself
- 19وَأَهْدِيَكَwa-ahdiyakaAnd I will guide youإِلَىilātoرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordفَتَخْشَىfatakhshāso you would fear
- 20فَأَرَاهُfa-arāhuThen he showed himالْءَايَةَl-āyatathe signالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe great
- 21فَكَذَّبَfakadhabaBut he deniedوَعَصَىwaʿaṣāand disobeyed
- 22ثُمَّthummaThenأَدْبَرَadbarahe turned his backيَسْعَىyasʿāstriving
- 23فَحَشَرَfaḥasharaAnd he gatheredفَنَادَىfanādāand called out
- 24فَقَالَfaqālaThen he saidأَنَاanāI amرَبُّكُمُrabbukumuyour Lordالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlāthe Most High
- 25فَأَخَذَهُfa-akhadhahuSo seized himاللَّهُl-lahuAllahنَكَالَnakāla(with) an exemplary punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(for) the lastوَالْأُولَىwal-ūlāand the first
- 26إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَعِبْرَةًlaʿib'ratansurely (is) a lessonلِمَنْlimanfor whoeverيَخْشَىyakhshāfears
- 27ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumAre youأَشَدُّashaddua more difficultخَلْقًاkhalqancreationأَمِamiorالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe heavenبَنَاهَاbanāhāHe constructed it
- 28رَفَعَrafaʿaHe raisedسَمْكَهَاsamkahāits ceilingفَسَوَّاهَاfasawwāhāand proportioned it
- 29وَأَغْطَشَwa-aghṭashaAnd He darkenedلَيْلَهَاlaylahāits nightوَأَخْرَجَwa-akhrajaand brought outضُحَاهَاḍuḥāhāits brightness
- 30وَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaAnd the earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatدَحَاهَاdaḥāhāHe spread it
- 31أَخْرَجَakhrajaHe brought forthمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itمَاءَهَاmāahāits waterوَمَرْعَاهَاwamarʿāhāand its pasture
- 32وَالْجِبَالَwal-jibālaAnd the mountainsأَرْسَاهَاarsāhāHe made them firm
- 33مَتَاعًاmatāʿan(As) a provisionلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْwali-anʿāmikumand for your cattle
- 34فَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenجَاءَتِjāaticomesالطَّامَّةُl-ṭāmatuthe Overwhelming Calamityالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe great
- 35يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaruwill rememberالْإِنْسَانُl-insānumanمَاmāwhatسَعَىsaʿāhe strove (for)
- 36وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiAnd will be made manifestالْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuthe Hell-Fireلِمَنْlimanto (him) whoيَرَىyarāsees
- 37فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoطَغَىṭaghātransgressed
- 38وَءَاثَرَwaātharaAnd preferredالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
- 39فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedالْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmathe Hell-Fireهِيَhiyaitالْمَأْوَىl-mawā(is) the refuge
- 40وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoخَافَkhāfafearedمَقَامَmaqāmastandingرَبِّهِrabbihi(before) his Lordوَنَهَىwanahāand restrainedالنَّفْسَl-nafsahis soulعَنِʿanifromالْهَوَىl-hawāthe vain desires
- 41فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseهِيَhiyait (is)الْمَأْوَىl-mawāthe refuge
- 42يَسْءَلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youعَنِʿaniaboutالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hourأَيَّانَayyānawhenمُرْسَاهَاmur'sāhā(is) its arrival
- 43فِيمَfīmaIn whatأَنْتَanta(are) youمِنْmin[of]ذِكْرَاهَاdhik'rāhā(to) mention it
- 44إِلَىilāToرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordمُنْتَهَاهَاmuntahāhā(is) its finality
- 45إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنْتَantayouمُنْذِرُmundhiru(are) a warnerمَنْman(for him) whoيَخْشَاهَاyakhshāhāfears it
- 46كَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumAs though theyيَوْمَyawma(the) Dayيَرَوْنَهَاyarawnahāthey see itلَمْlamnotيَلْبَثُواyalbathūthey had remainedإِلَّاillāexceptعَشِيَّةًʿashiyyatanan eveningأَوْaworضُحَاهَاḍuḥāhāa morning thereof
