بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 79 — An-Naazi'aat

  1. 1وَالنَّازِعَاتِwal-nāziʿātiBy those who extractغَرْقًاgharqanviolently
  2. 2وَالنَّاشِطَاتِwal-nāshiṭātiAnd those who draw outنَشْطًاnashṭangently
  3. 3وَالسَّابِحَاتِwal-sābiḥātiAnd those who glideسَبْحًاsabḥanswimming
  4. 4فَالسَّابِقَاتِfal-sābiqātiAnd those who race each otherسَبْقًاsabqan(in) a race
  5. 5فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِfal-mudabirātiAnd those who arrangeأَمْرًاamran(the) matter
  6. 6يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayتَرْجُفُtarjufuwill quakeالرَّاجِفَةُl-rājifatuthe quaking one
  7. 7تَتْبَعُهَاtatbaʿuhāFollows itالرَّادِفَةُl-rādifatuthe subsequent
  8. 8قُلُوبٌqulūbunHeartsيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayوَاجِفَةٌwājifatunwill palpitate
  9. 9أَبْصَارُهَاabṣāruhāTheir eyesخَاشِعَةٌkhāshiʿatunhumbled
  10. 10يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayأَءِنَّاa-innāWill weلَمَرْدُودُونَlamardūdūnaindeed be returnedفِيfītoالْحَافِرَةِl-ḥāfiratithe former state
  11. 11أَءِذَاa-idhāWhat! Whenكُنَّاkunnāwe areعِظَامًاʿiẓāmanbonesنَخِرَةًnakhiratandecayed
  12. 12قَالُواqālūThey sayتِلْكَtil'kaThisإِذًاidhanthenكَرَّةٌkarratun(would be) a returnخَاسِرَةٌkhāsiratunlosing
  13. 13فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāThen onlyهِيَhiyaitزَجْرَةٌzajratun(will be) a shoutوَاحِدَةٌwāḥidatunsingle
  14. 14فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd behold!هُمْhumTheyبِالسَّاهِرَةِbil-sāhirati(will be) awakened
  15. 15هَلْhalHasأَتَىكَatāka(there) come to youحَدِيثُḥadīthu(the) storyمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musa
  16. 16إِذْidhWhenنَادَاهُnādāhucalled himرَبُّهُrabbuhuhis Lordبِالْوَادِbil-wādiin the valleyالْمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacredطُوًىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
  17. 17اذْهَبْidh'habGoإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heطَغَىṭaghā(has) transgressed
  18. 18فَقُلْfaqulAnd sayهَلْhalWouldلَكَlaka[for] youإِلَىilā[until]أَنْan[that]تَزَكَّىtazakkāpurify yourself
  19. 19وَأَهْدِيَكَwa-ahdiyakaAnd I will guide youإِلَىilātoرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordفَتَخْشَىfatakhshāso you would fear
  20. 20فَأَرَاهُfa-arāhuThen he showed himالْءَايَةَl-āyatathe signالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe great
  21. 21فَكَذَّبَfakadhabaBut he deniedوَعَصَىwaʿaṣāand disobeyed
  22. 22ثُمَّthummaThenأَدْبَرَadbarahe turned his backيَسْعَىyasʿāstriving
  23. 23فَحَشَرَfaḥasharaAnd he gatheredفَنَادَىfanādāand called out
  24. 24فَقَالَfaqālaThen he saidأَنَاanāI amرَبُّكُمُrabbukumuyour Lordالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlāthe Most High
  25. 25فَأَخَذَهُfa-akhadhahuSo seized himاللَّهُl-lahuAllahنَكَالَnakāla(with) an exemplary punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(for) the lastوَالْأُولَىwal-ūlāand the first
  26. 26إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَعِبْرَةًlaʿib'ratansurely (is) a lessonلِمَنْlimanfor whoeverيَخْشَىyakhshāfears
  27. 27ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumAre youأَشَدُّashaddua more difficultخَلْقًاkhalqancreationأَمِamiorالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe heavenبَنَاهَاbanāhāHe constructed it
  28. 28رَفَعَrafaʿaHe raisedسَمْكَهَاsamkahāits ceilingفَسَوَّاهَاfasawwāhāand proportioned it
  29. 29وَأَغْطَشَwa-aghṭashaAnd He darkenedلَيْلَهَاlaylahāits nightوَأَخْرَجَwa-akhrajaand brought outضُحَاهَاḍuḥāhāits brightness
  30. 30وَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaAnd the earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatدَحَاهَاdaḥāhāHe spread it
  31. 31أَخْرَجَakhrajaHe brought forthمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itمَاءَهَاmāahāits waterوَمَرْعَاهَاwamarʿāhāand its pasture
  32. 32وَالْجِبَالَwal-jibālaAnd the mountainsأَرْسَاهَاarsāhāHe made them firm
  33. 33مَتَاعًاmatāʿan(As) a provisionلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْwali-anʿāmikumand for your cattle
  34. 34فَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenجَاءَتِjāaticomesالطَّامَّةُl-ṭāmatuthe Overwhelming Calamityالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe great
  35. 35يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkaruwill rememberالْإِنْسَانُl-insānumanمَاmāwhatسَعَىsaʿāhe strove (for)
  36. 36وَبُرِّزَتِwaburrizatiAnd will be made manifestالْجَحِيمُl-jaḥīmuthe Hell-Fireلِمَنْlimanto (him) whoيَرَىyarāsees
  37. 37فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoطَغَىṭaghātransgressed
  38. 38وَءَاثَرَwaātharaAnd preferredالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
  39. 39فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedالْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīmathe Hell-Fireهِيَhiyaitالْمَأْوَىl-mawā(is) the refuge
  40. 40وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoخَافَkhāfafearedمَقَامَmaqāmastandingرَبِّهِrabbihi(before) his Lordوَنَهَىwanahāand restrainedالنَّفْسَl-nafsahis soulعَنِʿanifromالْهَوَىl-hawāthe vain desires
  41. 41فَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseهِيَhiyait (is)الْمَأْوَىl-mawāthe refuge
  42. 42يَسْءَلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youعَنِʿaniaboutالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hourأَيَّانَayyānawhenمُرْسَاهَاmur'sāhā(is) its arrival
  43. 43فِيمَfīmaIn whatأَنْتَanta(are) youمِنْmin[of]ذِكْرَاهَاdhik'rāhā(to) mention it
  44. 44إِلَىilāToرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordمُنْتَهَاهَاmuntahāhā(is) its finality
  45. 45إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنْتَantayouمُنْذِرُmundhiru(are) a warnerمَنْman(for him) whoيَخْشَاهَاyakhshāhāfears it
  46. 46كَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumAs though theyيَوْمَyawma(the) Dayيَرَوْنَهَاyarawnahāthey see itلَمْlamnotيَلْبَثُواyalbathūthey had remainedإِلَّاillāexceptعَشِيَّةًʿashiyyatanan eveningأَوْaworضُحَاهَاḍuḥāhāa morning thereof
