بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 71 — Nooh

  1. 1إِنَّاinnāIndeed, Weأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā[We] sentنُوحًاnūḥanNuhإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleأَنْanthatأَنْذِرْandhirWarnقَوْمَكَqawmakayour peopleمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]يَأْتِيَهُمْyatiyahumcomes to themعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  2. 2قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!إِنِّيinnīIndeed I amلَكُمْlakumto youنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  3. 3أَنِaniThatاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَاتَّقُوهُwa-ittaqūhuand fear Himوَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me
  4. 4يَغْفِرْyaghfirHe will forgiveلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْmin[of]ذُنُوبِكُمْdhunūbikumyour sinsوَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْwayu-akhir'kumand give you respiteإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanspecifiedإِنَّinnaIndeedأَجَلَajala(the) termاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَjāait comesلَاnotيُؤَخَّرُyu-akharuis delayedلَوْlawifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  5. 5قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iدَعَوْتُdaʿawtuinvitedقَوْمِيqawmīmy peopleلَيْلًاlaylannightوَنَهَارًاwanahāranand day
  6. 6فَلَمْfalamBut notيَزِدْهُمْyazid'humincreased themدُعَاءِيduʿāīmy invitationإِلَّاillāexceptفِرَارًاfirāran(in) flight
  7. 7وَإِنِّيwa-innīAnd indeed Iكُلَّمَاkullamāevery timeدَعَوْتُهُمْdaʿawtuhumI invited themلِتَغْفِرَlitaghfirathat You may forgiveلَهُمْlahumthemجَعَلُواjaʿalūthey putأَصَابِعَهُمْaṣābiʿahumtheir fingersفِيinءَاذَانِهِمْādhānihimtheir earsوَاسْتَغْشَوْاwa-is'taghshawand covered themselvesثِيَابَهُمْthiyābahum(with) their garmentsوَأَصَرُّواwa-aṣarrūand persistedوَاسْتَكْبَرُواwa-is'takbarūand were arrogantاسْتِكْبَارًاis'tik'bāran(with) pride
  8. 8ثُمَّthummaThenإِنِّيinnīindeed Iدَعَوْتُهُمْdaʿawtuhuminvited themجِهَارًاjihāranpublicly
  9. 9ثُمَّthummaThenإِنِّيinnīindeed Iأَعْلَنْتُaʿlantuannouncedلَهُمْlahumto themوَأَسْرَرْتُwa-asrartuand I confidedلَهُمْlahumto themإِسْرَارًاis'rāransecretly
  10. 10فَقُلْتُfaqul'tuThen I saidاسْتَغْفِرُواis'taghfirūAsk forgivenessرَبَّكُمْrabbakum(from) your LordإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed HeكَانَkānaisغَفَّارًاghaffāranOft-Forgiving
  11. 11يُرْسِلِyur'siliHe will send downالسَّمَاءَl-samāa(rain from) the skyعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youمِدْرَارًاmid'rāran(in) abundance
  12. 12وَيُمْدِدْكُمْwayum'did'kumAnd provide youبِأَمْوَالٍbi-amwālinwith wealthوَبَنِينَwabanīnaand childrenوَيَجْعَلْwayajʿaland makeلَكُمْlakumfor youجَنَّاتٍjannātingardensوَيَجْعَلْwayajʿaland makeلَكُمْlakumfor youأَنْهَارًاanhāranrivers
  13. 13مَاWhatلَكُمْlakum(is) for youلَاnotتَرْجُونَtarjūnayou attributeلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَقَارًاwaqārangrandeur
  14. 14وَقَدْwaqadAnd indeedخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumHe created youأَطْوَارًاaṭwāran(in) stages
  15. 15أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَوْاtarawyou seeكَيْفَkayfahowخَلَقَkhalaqadid createاللَّهُl-lahuAllahسَبْعَsabʿa(the) sevenسَمَاوَاتٍsamāwātinheavensطِبَاقًاṭibāqan(in) layers
  16. 16وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaAnd madeالْقَمَرَl-qamarathe moonفِيهِنَّfīhinnathereinنُورًاnūrana lightوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeالشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunسِرَاجًاsirājana lamp
  17. 17وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَنْبَتَكُمْanbatakumhas caused you to growمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthنَبَاتًاnabātan(as) a growth
  18. 18ثُمَّthummaThenيُعِيدُكُمْyuʿīdukumHe will return youفِيهَاfīhāinto itوَيُخْرِجُكُمْwayukh'rijukumand bring you forthإِخْرَاجًاikh'rājan(a new) bringing forth
  19. 19وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahجَعَلَjaʿalamadeلَكُمُlakumufor youالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthبِسَاطًاbisāṭanan expanse
  20. 20لِتَسْلُكُواlitaslukūThat you may go alongمِنْهَاmin'hāthereinسُبُلًاsubulan(in) pathsفِجَاجًاfijājanwide
  21. 21قَالَqālaSaidنُوحٌnūḥunNuhرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyعَصَوْنِيʿaṣawnīdisobeyed meوَاتَّبَعُواwa-ittabaʿūand followedمَنْman(the one) whoلَمْlam(did) notيَزِدْهُyazid'huincrease himمَالُهُmāluhuhis wealthوَوَلَدُهُwawaladuhuand his childrenإِلَّاillāexceptخَسَارًاkhasāran(in) loss
  22. 22وَمَكَرُواwamakarūAnd they have plannedمَكْرًاmakrana planكُبَّارًاkubbārangreat
  23. 23وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidلَا(Do) notتَذَرُنَّtadharunnaleaveءَالِهَتَكُمْālihatakumyour godsوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَذَرُنَّtadharunnaleaveوَدًّاwaddanWaddوَلَاwalāand notسُوَاعًاsuwāʿanSuwaوَلَاwalāand notيَغُوثَyaghūthaYaguthوَيَعُوقَwayaʿūqaand Yauqوَنَسْرًاwanasranand Nasr
  24. 24وَقَدْwaqadAnd indeedأَضَلُّواaḍallūthey have led astrayكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyوَلَاwalāAnd notتَزِدِtazidiincreaseالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersإِلَّاillāexceptضَلَالًاḍalālan(in) error
  25. 25مِمَّاmimmāBecause ofخَطِيءَاتِهِمْkhaṭīātihimtheir sinsأُغْرِقُواugh'riqūthey were drownedفَأُدْخِلُواfa-ud'khilūthen made to enterنَارًاnāran(the) Fireفَلَمْfalamand notيَجِدُواyajidūthey foundلَهُمْlahumfor themselvesمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَنْصَارًاanṣāranany helpers
  26. 26وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidنُوحٌnūḥunNuhرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!لَا(Do) notتَذَرْtadharleaveعَلَىʿalāonالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمِنَminaanyالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelieversدَيَّارًاdayyāran(as) an inhabitant
  27. 27إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouإِنْinifتَذَرْهُمْtadharhumYou leave themيُضِلُّواyuḍillūthey will misleadعِبَادَكَʿibādakaYour slavesوَلَاwalāand notيَلِدُواyalidūthey will begetإِلَّاillāexceptفَاجِرًاfājirana wickedكَفَّارًاkaffārana disbeliever
  28. 28رَبِّrabbiMy Lord!اغْفِرْigh'firForgiveلِيmeوَلِوَالِدَيَّwaliwālidayyaand my parentsوَلِمَنْwalimanand whoeverدَخَلَdakhalaentersبَيْتِيَbaytiyamy houseمُؤْمِنًاmu'minana believerوَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَwalil'mu'minīnaand believing menوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِwal-mu'minātiand believing womenوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَزِدِtazidiincreaseالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersإِلَّاillāexceptتَبَارًاtabāran(in) destruction
