بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 69 — Al-Haaqqa

  1. 1الْحَاقَّةُal-ḥāqatuThe Inevitable Reality!
  2. 2مَاWhatالْحَاقَّةُl-ḥāqatu(is) the Inevitable Reality
  3. 3وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَدْرَاكَadrākawill make you knowمَاwhatالْحَاقَّةُl-ḥāqatu(is) the Inevitable Reality
  4. 4كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedثَمُودُthamūduThamudوَعَادٌwaʿādunand Aadبِالْقَارِعَةِbil-qāriʿatithe Striking Calamity
  5. 5فَأَمَّاfa-ammāSo as forثَمُودُthamūduThamudفَأُهْلِكُواfa-uh'likūthey were destroyedبِالطَّاغِيَةِbil-ṭāghiyatiby the overpowering (blast)
  6. 6وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forعَادٌʿādunAadفَأُهْلِكُواfa-uh'likūthey were destroyedبِرِيحٍbirīḥinby a windصَرْصَرٍṣarṣarinscreamingعَاتِيَةٍʿātiyatinviolent
  7. 7سَخَّرَهَاsakharahāWhich He imposedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themسَبْعَsabʿa(for) sevenلَيَالٍlayālinnightsوَثَمَانِيَةَwathamāniyataand eightأَيَّامٍayyāmindaysحُسُومًاḥusūman(in) successionفَتَرَىfatarāso you would seeالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleفِيهَاfīhāthereinصَرْعَىṣarʿāfallenكَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumas if they wereأَعْجَازُaʿjāzutrunksنَخْلٍnakhlin(of) date-palmsخَاوِيَةٍkhāwiyatinhollow
  8. 8فَهَلْfahalThen doتَرَىtarāyou seeلَهُمْlahumof themمِنْminanyبَاقِيَةٍbāqiyatinremains
  9. 9وَجَاءَwajāaAnd cameفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunوَمَنْwamanand (those)قَبْلَهُqablahubefore himوَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتُwal-mu'tafikātuand the overturned citiesبِالْخَاطِئَةِbil-khāṭi-atiwith sin
  10. 10فَعَصَوْاfaʿaṣawAnd they disobeyedرَسُولَrasūla(the) Messengerرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordفَأَخَذَهُمْfa-akhadhahumso He seized themأَخْذَةًakhdhatan(with) a seizureرَابِيَةًrābiyatanexceeding
  11. 11إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weلَمَّاlammāwhenطَغَىṭaghāoverflowedالْمَاءُl-māuthe waterحَمَلْنَاكُمْḥamalnākumWe carried youفِيinالْجَارِيَةِl-jāriyatithe sailing (ship)
  12. 12لِنَجْعَلَهَاlinajʿalahāThat We might make itلَكُمْlakumfor youتَذْكِرَةًtadhkiratana reminderوَتَعِيَهَاwataʿiyahāand would be conscious of itأُذُنٌudhununan earوَاعِيَةٌwāʿiyatunconscious
  13. 13فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenنُفِخَnufikhais blownفِيinالصُّورِl-ṣūrithe trumpetنَفْخَةٌnafkhatuna blastوَاحِدَةٌwāḥidatunsingle
  14. 14وَحُمِلَتِwaḥumilatiAnd are liftedالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthوَالْجِبَالُwal-jibāluand the mountainsفَدُكَّتَاfadukkatāand crushedدَكَّةًdakkatan(with) a crushingوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatansingle
  15. 15فَيَوْمَئِذٍfayawma-idhinThen (on) that Dayوَقَعَتِwaqaʿatiwill occurالْوَاقِعَةُl-wāqiʿatuthe Occurrence
  16. 16وَانْشَقَّتِwa-inshaqqatiAnd will splitالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe heavenفَهِيَfahiyaso itيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(is on) that Dayوَاهِيَةٌwāhiyatunfrail
  17. 17وَالْمَلَكُwal-malakuAnd the Angelsعَلَىʿalā(will be) onأَرْجَائِهَاarjāihāits edgesوَيَحْمِلُwayaḥmiluand will bearعَرْشَʿarsha(the) Throneرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordفَوْقَهُمْfawqahumabove themيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayثَمَانِيَةٌthamāniyatuneight
  18. 18يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinThat Dayتُعْرَضُونَtuʿ'raḍūnayou will be exhibitedلَاnotتَخْفَىtakhfāwill be hiddenمِنْكُمْminkumamong youخَافِيَةٌkhāfiyatunany secret
  19. 19فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forمَنْman(him) whoأُوتِيَūtiyais givenكِتَابَهُkitābahuhis recordبِيَمِينِهِbiyamīnihiin his right handفَيَقُولُfayaqūluwill sayهَاؤُمُhāumuHereاقْرَءُواiq'raūreadكِتَابِيَهْkitābiyahmy record!
  20. 20إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iظَنَنْتُẓanantuwas certainأَنِّيannīthat Iمُلَاقٍmulāqin(will) meetحِسَابِيَهْḥisābiyahmy account
  21. 21فَهُوَfahuwaSo heفِي(will be) inعِيشَةٍʿīshatina lifeرَاضِيَةٍrāḍiyatinpleasant
  22. 22فِيInجَنَّةٍjannatina Gardenعَالِيَةٍʿāliyatinelevated
  23. 23قُطُوفُهَاquṭūfuhāIts clusters of fruitsدَانِيَةٌdāniyatunhanging near
  24. 24كُلُواkulūEatوَاشْرَبُواwa-ish'rabūand drinkهَنِيئًاhanīan(in) satisfactionبِمَاbimāfor whatأَسْلَفْتُمْaslaftumyou sent before youفِيinالْأَيَّامِl-ayāmithe daysالْخَالِيَةِl-khāliyatipast
  25. 25وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forمَنْman(him) whoأُوتِيَūtiyais givenكِتَابَهُkitābahuhis recordبِشِمَالِهِbishimālihiin his left handفَيَقُولُfayaqūluwill sayيَالَيْتَنِيyālaytanīO! I wishلَمْlamnotأُوتَūtaI had been givenكِتَابِيَهْkitābiyahmy record
  26. 26وَلَمْwalamAnd notأَدْرِadriI had knownمَاwhatحِسَابِيَهْḥisābiyah(is) my account
  27. 27يَا‎لَيْتَهَاyālaytahāO! I wish itكَانَتِkānatihad beenالْقَاضِيَةَl-qāḍiyatathe end
  28. 28مَاNotأَغْنَىaghnāhas availedعَنِّيʿannīmeمَالِيَهْmāliyahmy wealth
  29. 29هَلَكَhalakaIs goneعَنِّيʿannīfrom meسُلْطَانِيَهْsul'ṭāniyahmy authority
  30. 30خُذُوهُkhudhūhuSeize himفَغُلُّوهُfaghullūhuand shackle him
  31. 31ثُمَّthummaThenالْجَحِيمَl-jaḥīma(into) the Hellfireصَلُّوهُṣallūhuburn him
  32. 32ثُمَّthummaThenفِيintoسِلْسِلَةٍsil'silatina chainذَرْعُهَاdharʿuhāits lengthسَبْعُونَsabʿūna(is) seventyذِرَاعًاdhirāʿancubitsفَاسْلُكُوهُfa-us'lukūhuinsert him
  33. 33إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, heكَانَkāna(did)لَاnotيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
  34. 34وَلَاwalāAnd (did) notيَحُضُّyaḥuḍḍufeel the urgeعَلَىʿalāonطَعَامِṭaʿāmi(the) feedingالْمِسْكِينِl-mis'kīni(of) the poor
  35. 35فَلَيْسَfalaysaSo notلَهُlahufor himالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayهَاهُنَاhāhunāhereحَمِيمٌḥamīmunany devoted friend
  36. 36وَلَاwalāAnd notطَعَامٌṭaʿāmunany foodإِلَّاillāexceptمِنْminfromغِسْلِينٍghis'līnin(the) discharge of wounds
  37. 37لَاNotيَأْكُلُهُyakuluhuwill eat itإِلَّاillāexceptالْخَاطِءُونَl-khāṭiūnathe sinners
  38. 38فَلَاfalāBut nay!أُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِمَاbimāby whatتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou see
  39. 39وَمَاwamāAnd whatلَاnotتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou see
  40. 40إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed it (is)لَقَوْلُlaqawlusurely (the) Wordرَسُولٍrasūlin(of) a Messengerكَرِيمٍkarīminnoble
  41. 41وَمَاwamāAnd notهُوَhuwaitبِقَوْلِbiqawli(is the) wordشَاعِرٍshāʿirin(of) a poet;قَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleمَا(is) whatتُؤْمِنُونَtu'minūnayou believe!
  42. 42وَلَاwalāAnd notبِقَوْلِbiqawli(it is the) wordكَاهِنٍkāhinin(of) a soothsayer;قَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleمَا(is) whatتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou remember
  43. 43تَنْزِيلٌtanzīlun(It is) a revelationمِنْminfromرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  44. 44وَلَوْwalawAnd ifتَقَوَّلَtaqawwalahe (had) fabricatedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst Usبَعْضَbaʿḍasomeالْأَقَاوِيلِl-aqāwīlisayings
  45. 45لَأَخَذْنَاla-akhadhnāCertainly We (would) have seizedمِنْهُmin'huhimبِالْيَمِينِbil-yamīniby the right hand;
  46. 46ثُمَّthummaThenلَقَطَعْنَاlaqaṭaʿnācertainly We (would) have cut offمِنْهُmin'hufrom himالْوَتِينَl-watīnathe aorta
  47. 47فَمَاfamāAnd notمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youمِنْminanyأَحَدٍaḥadinoneعَنْهُʿanhu[from him]حَاجِزِينَḥājizīna(could) prevent
  48. 48وَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed itلَتَذْكِرَةٌlatadhkiratun(is) surely a reminderلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the Allah-fearing
  49. 49وَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed Weلَنَعْلَمُlanaʿlamusurely knowأَنَّannathatمِنْكُمْminkumamong youمُكَذِّبِينَmukadhibīna(are) deniers
  50. 50وَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed itلَحَسْرَةٌlaḥasratun(is) surely a regretعَلَىʿalāuponالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  51. 51وَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed it (is)لَحَقُّlaḥaqqusurely (the) truthالْيَقِينِl-yaqīni(of) certainty
  52. 52فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِاسْمِbi-is'mi(the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
