بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 59 — Al-Hashr

  1. 1سَبَّحَsabbaḥaGlorifiesلِلَّهِlillahi[to] Allahمَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  2. 2هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَخْرَجَakhrajaexpelledالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Scriptureمِنْminfromدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesلِأَوَّلِli-awwaliat (the) firstالْحَشْرِl-ḥashrigatheringمَاNotظَنَنْتُمْẓanantumyou thinkأَنْanthatيَخْرُجُواyakhrujūthey would leaveوَظَنُّواwaẓannūand they thoughtأَنَّهُمْannahumthat [they]مَانِعَتُهُمْmāniʿatuhumwould defend themحُصُونُهُمْḥuṣūnuhumtheir fortressesمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَأَتَاهُمُfa-atāhumuBut came to themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَمْlamnotيَحْتَسِبُواyaḥtasibūthey expectedوَقَذَفَwaqadhafaand He castفِيintoقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimutheir heartsالرُّعْبَl-ruʿ'ba[the] terrorيُخْرِبُونَyukh'ribūnathey destroyedبُيُوتَهُمْbuyūtahumtheir housesبِأَيْدِيهِمْbi-aydīhimwith their handsوَأَيْدِيwa-aydīand the handsالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersفَاعْتَبِرُواfa-iʿ'tabirūSo take a lessonيَاأُولِيyāulīO those endowedالْأَبْصَارِl-abṣāri(with) insight
  3. 3وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notأَنْan[that]كَتَبَkataba(had) decreedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themالْجَلَاءَl-jalāathe exileلَعَذَّبَهُمْlaʿadhabahumcertainly He (would) have punished themفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterعَذَابُʿadhābu(is) a punishmentالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire
  4. 4ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because [they]شَاقُّواshāqqūthey opposedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His MessengerوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُشَاقِّyushāqqiopposesاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) penalty
  5. 5مَاWhateverقَطَعْتُمْqaṭaʿtumyou cut downمِنْminofلِينَةٍlīnatin(the) palm-treesأَوْaworتَرَكْتُمُوهَاtaraktumūhāyou left themقَائِمَةًqāimatanstandingعَلَىʿalāonأُصُولِهَاuṣūlihātheir rootsفَبِإِذْنِfabi-idh'niit (was) by the permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلِيُخْزِيَwaliyukh'ziyaand that He may disgraceالْفَاسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient
  6. 6وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَفَاءَafāa(was) restoredاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahعَلَىʿalātoرَسُولِهِrasūlihiHis Messengerمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themفَمَاfamāthen notأَوْجَفْتُمْawjaftumyou made expeditionعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itمِنْminofخَيْلٍkhaylinhorsesوَلَاwalāand notرِكَابٍrikābincamelsوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُسَلِّطُyusalliṭugives powerرُسُلَهُrusulahu(to) His MessengersعَلَىʿalāoverمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  7. 7مَاWhatأَفَاءَafāa(was) restoredاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahعَلَىʿalātoرَسُولِهِrasūlihiHis Messengerمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) peopleالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the townsفَلِلَّهِfalillahi(it is) for Allahوَلِلرَّسُولِwalilrrasūliand His Messengerوَلِذِيwalidhīand for thoseالْقُرْبَىl-qur'bā(of) the kindredوَالْيَتَامَىwal-yatāmāand the orphansوَالْمَسَاكِينِwal-masākīniand the needyوَابْنِwa-ib'niandالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe wayfarerكَيْkaythatلَاnotيَكُونَyakūnait becomesدُولَةًdūlatana (perpetual) circulationبَيْنَbaynabetweenالْأَغْنِيَاءِl-aghniyāithe richمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَمَاwamāAnd whateverءَاتَاكُمُātākumugives youالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerفَخُذُوهُfakhudhūhutake itوَمَاwamāand whateverنَهَاكُمْnahākumhe forbids youعَنْهُʿanhufrom itفَانْتَهُواfa-intahūrefrainوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) penalty
  8. 8لِلْفُقَرَاءِlil'fuqarāiFor the poorالْمُهَاجِرِينَl-muhājirīnaemigrantsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُخْرِجُواukh'rijūwere expelledمِنْminfromدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesوَأَمْوَالِهِمْwa-amwālihimand their propertiesيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekingفَضْلًاfaḍlanbountyمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرِضْوَانًاwariḍ'wānanand pleasureوَيَنْصُرُونَwayanṣurūnaand helpingاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His MessengerأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumutheyالصَّادِقُونَl-ṣādiqūna(are) the truthful
  9. 9وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoتَبَوَّءُوtabawwaūsettledالدَّارَl-dāra(in) the homeوَالْإِيمَانَwal-īmānaand (accepted) faithمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themيُحِبُّونَyuḥibbūnaloveمَنْman(those) whoهَاجَرَhājaraemigratedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themوَلَاwalāand notيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey findفِيinصُدُورِهِمْṣudūrihimtheir breastsحَاجَةًḥājatanany wantمِمَّاmimmāof whatأُوتُواūtūthey were givenوَيُؤْثِرُونَwayu'thirūnabut preferعَلَىʿalāoverأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesوَلَوْwalaweven thoughكَانَkānawasبِهِمْbihimwith themخَصَاصَةٌkhaṣāṣatunpovertyوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُوقَyūqais savedشُحَّshuḥḥa(from) stinginessنَفْسِهِnafsihi(of) his soulفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful ones
  10. 10وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoجَاءُوjāūcameمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordاغْفِرْigh'firforgiveلَنَاlanāusوَلِإِخْوَانِنَاwali-ikh'wānināand our brothersالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoسَبَقُونَاsabaqūnāpreceded usبِالْإِيمَانِbil-īmāniin faithوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَجْعَلْtajʿalputفِيinقُلُوبِنَاqulūbināour heartsغِلًّاghillanany rancorلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnatowards those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordإِنَّكَinnakaindeed Youرَءُوفٌraūfun(are) Full of KindnessرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  11. 11أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[to]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنَافَقُواnāfaqū(were) hypocritesيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingلِإِخْوَانِهِمُli-ikh'wānihimuto their brothersالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminamongأَهْلِahlithe Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Scriptureلَئِنْla-inIfأُخْرِجْتُمْukh'rij'tumyou are expelledلَنَخْرُجَنَّlanakhrujannasurely we will leaveمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youوَلَاwalāand notنُطِيعُnuṭīʿuwe will obeyفِيكُمْfīkumconcerning youأَحَدًاaḥadananyoneأَبَدًاabadaneverوَإِنْwa-inand ifقُوتِلْتُمْqūtil'tumyou are foughtلَنَنْصُرَنَّكُمْlananṣurannakumcertainly we will help youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَشْهَدُyashhadubears witnessإِنَّهُمْinnahumthat theyلَكَاذِبُونَlakādhibūna(are) surely liars
  12. 12لَئِنْla-inIfأُخْرِجُواukh'rijūthey are expelledلَاnotيَخْرُجُونَyakhrujūnathey will leaveمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themوَلَئِنْwala-inand ifقُوتِلُواqūtilūthey are foughtلَاnotيَنْصُرُونَهُمْyanṣurūnahumthey will help themوَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifنَصَرُوهُمْnaṣarūhumthey help themلَيُوَلُّنَّlayuwallunnacertainly they will turnالْأَدْبَارَl-adbāra(their) backs;ثُمَّthummathenلَاnotيُنْصَرُونَyunṣarūnathey will be helped
  13. 13لَأَنْتُمْla-antumCertainly you(r)أَشَدُّashaddu(are) more intenseرَهْبَةًrahbatan(in) fearفِيinصُدُورِهِمْṣudūrihimtheir breastsمِنَminathanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleلَا(who do) notيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstand
  14. 14لَاNotيُقَاتِلُونَكُمْyuqātilūnakumwill they fight youجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallإِلَّاillāexceptفِيinقُرًىqurantownsمُحَصَّنَةٍmuḥaṣṣanatinfortifiedأَوْaworمِنْminfromوَرَاءِwarāibehindجُدُرٍjudurinwallsبَأْسُهُمْbasuhumTheir violenceبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themselvesشَدِيدٌshadīdun(is) severeتَحْسَبُهُمْtaḥsabuhumYou think theyجَمِيعًاjamīʿan(are) unitedوَقُلُوبُهُمْwaqulūbuhumbut their heartsشَتَّىshattā(are) dividedذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleلَاnotيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnathey reason
  15. 15كَمَثَلِkamathaliLike (the) exampleالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) thoseمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themقَرِيبًاqarībanshortlyذَاقُواdhāqūthey tastedوَبَالَwabāla(the) evil resultأَمْرِهِمْamrihim(of) their affairوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  16. 16كَمَثَلِkamathaliLike (the) exampleالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saysلِلْإِنْسَانِlil'insānito manاكْفُرْuk'furDisbelieveفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenكَفَرَkafarahe disbelievesقَالَqālahe saysإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amبَرِيءٌbarīondisassociatedمِنْكَminkafrom youإِنِّيinnīIndeed [I]أَخَافُakhāfuI fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبَّrabba(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  17. 17فَكَانَfakānaSo will beعَاقِبَتَهُمَاʿāqibatahumā(the) end of both of themأَنَّهُمَاannahumāthat they willفِي(be) inالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireخَالِدَيْنِkhālidayniabiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَذَلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatجَزَاءُjazāu(is the) recompenseالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrongdoers
  18. 18يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالَّذِينَalladhīnayou (who)ءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveاتَّقُواittaqūFearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلْتَنْظُرْwaltanẓurand let lookنَفْسٌnafsunevery soulمَاwhatقَدَّمَتْqaddamatit has sent forthلِغَدٍlighadinfor tomorrowوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūand fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  19. 19وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونُواtakūnūbeكَالَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those whoنَسُواnasūforgotاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَأَنْسَاهُمْfa-ansāhumso He made them forgetأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumu[they]الْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
  20. 20لَاNotيَسْتَوِيyastawīare equalأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireوَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuand (the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(The) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseهُمُhumutheyالْفَائِزُونَl-fāizūna(are) achievers
  21. 21لَوْlawIfأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (had) sent downهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānaQuranعَلَىʿalāonجَبَلٍjabalina mountainلَرَأَيْتَهُlara-aytahusurely you (would) have seen itخَاشِعًاkhāshiʿanhumbledمُتَصَدِّعًاmutaṣaddiʿanbreaking asunderمِنْminfromخَشْيَةِkhashyati(the) fearاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd theseالْأَمْثَالُl-amthālu(are) the examplesنَضْرِبُهَاnaḍribuhāWe present themلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the peopleلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnagive thought
  22. 22هُوَhuwaHeاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeعَالِمُʿālimu(the) All-Knowerالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَالشَّهَادَةِwal-shahādatiand the witnessedهُوَhuwaHeالرَّحْمَنُl-raḥmānu(is) the Most Graciousالرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
  23. 23هُوَhuwaHeاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeالْمَلِكُl-malikuthe Sovereignالْقُدُّوسُl-qudūsuthe Holy Oneالسَّلَامُl-salāmuthe Giver of Peaceالْمُؤْمِنُl-mu'minuthe Giver of Securityالْمُهَيْمِنُl-muhayminuthe Guardianالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْجَبَّارُl-jabāruthe Irresistibleالْمُتَكَبِّرُl-mutakabiruthe Supremeسُبْحَانَsub'ḥānaGlory (be to)اللَّهِl-lahiAllahعَمَّاʿammāfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
  24. 24هُوَhuwaHeاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالْخَالِقُl-khāliquthe Creatorالْبَارِئُl-bāri-uthe Inventorالْمُصَوِّرُl-muṣawiruthe FashionerلَهُlahuFor Himالْأَسْمَاءُl-asmāu(are) the namesالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe beautifulيُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuGlorifiesلَهُlahuHimمَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
