بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 56 — Al-Waaqia

  1. 1إِذَاidhāWhenوَقَعَتِwaqaʿatioccursالْوَاقِعَةُl-wāqiʿatuthe Event
  2. 2لَيْسَlaysaNotلِوَقْعَتِهَاliwaqʿatihāat its occurrenceكَاذِبَةٌkādhibatuna denial
  3. 3خَافِضَةٌkhāfiḍatunBringing downرَافِعَةٌrāfiʿatunraising up
  4. 4إِذَاidhāWhenرُجَّتِrujjatiwill be shakenالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthرَجًّاrajjan(with) a shaking
  5. 5وَبُسَّتِwabussatiAnd will be crumbledالْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsبَسًّاbassan(with awful) crumbling
  6. 6فَكَانَتْfakānatSo they becomeهَبَاءًhabāandust particlesمُنْبَثًّاmunbathandispersing
  7. 7وَكُنْتُمْwakuntumAnd you will becomeأَزْوَاجًاazwājankindsثَلَاثَةًthalāthatanthree
  8. 8فَأَصْحَابُfa-aṣḥābuThen (the) companionsالْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanati(of) the rightمَاwhatأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْمَيْمَنَةِl-maymanati(of) the right
  9. 9وَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsالْمَشْءَمَةِl-mashamati(of) the leftمَاwhatأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْمَشْءَمَةِl-mashamati(of) the left
  10. 10وَالسَّابِقُونَwal-sābiqūnaAnd the foremostالسَّابِقُونَl-sābiqūna(are) the foremost
  11. 11أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūna(are) the nearest ones
  12. 12فِيInجَنَّاتِjannātiGardensالنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Pleasure
  13. 13ثُلَّةٌthullatunA companyمِنَminaofالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former people
  14. 14وَقَلِيلٌwaqalīlunAnd a fewمِنَminaofالْءَاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later people
  15. 15عَلَىʿalāOnسُرُرٍsururinthronesمَوْضُونَةٍmawḍūnatindecorated
  16. 16مُتَّكِئِينَmuttakiīnaRecliningعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon themمُتَقَابِلِينَmutaqābilīnafacing each other
  17. 17يَطُوفُyaṭūfuWill circulateعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimamong themوِلْدَانٌwil'dānunboysمُخَلَّدُونَmukhalladūnaimmortal
  18. 18بِأَكْوَابٍbi-akwābinWith vesselsوَأَبَارِيقَwa-abārīqaand jugsوَكَأْسٍwakasinand a cupمِنْminfromمَعِينٍmaʿīnina flowing stream
  19. 19لَاNotيُصَدَّعُونَyuṣaddaʿūnathey will get headacheعَنْهَاʿanhātherefromوَلَاwalāand notيُنْزِفُونَyunzifūnathey will get intoxicated
  20. 20وَفَاكِهَةٍwafākihatinAnd fruitsمِمَّاmimmāof whatيَتَخَيَّرُونَyatakhayyarūnathey select
  21. 21وَلَحْمِwalaḥmiAnd (the) fleshطَيْرٍṭayrin(of) fowlsمِمَّاmimmāof whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire
  22. 22وَحُورٌwaḥūrunAnd fair onesعِينٌʿīnun(with) large eyes
  23. 23كَأَمْثَالِka-amthāliLikeاللُّؤْلُؤِl-lu'lu-ipearlsالْمَكْنُونِl-maknūniwell-protected
  24. 24جَزَاءًjazāanA rewardبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  25. 25لَاNotيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnathey will hearفِيهَاfīhāthereinلَغْوًاlaghwanvain talkوَلَاwalāand notتَأْثِيمًاtathīmansinful (speech)
  26. 26إِلَّاillāExceptقِيلًاqīlana sayingسَلَامًاsalāmanPeaceسَلَامًاsalāmanPeace
  27. 27وَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsالْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the rightمَاwhatأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
  28. 28فِيAmongسِدْرٍsid'rinlote treesمَخْضُودٍmakhḍūdinthornless
  29. 29وَطَلْحٍwaṭalḥinAnd banana treesمَنْضُودٍmanḍūdinlayered
  30. 30وَظِلٍّwaẓillinAnd shadeمَمْدُودٍmamdūdinextended
  31. 31وَمَاءٍwamāinAnd waterمَسْكُوبٍmaskūbinpoured forth
  32. 32وَفَاكِهَةٍwafākihatinAnd fruitكَثِيرَةٍkathīratinabundant
  33. 33لَاNotمَقْطُوعَةٍmaqṭūʿatinlimitedوَلَاwalāand notمَمْنُوعَةٍmamnūʿatinforbidden
  34. 34وَفُرُشٍwafurushinAnd (on) couchesمَرْفُوعَةٍmarfūʿatinraised
  35. 35إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَنْشَأْنَاهُنَّanshanāhunna[We] have produced themإِنْشَاءًinshāan(into) a creation
  36. 36فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّfajaʿalnāhunnaAnd We have made themأَبْكَارًاabkāranvirgins
  37. 37عُرُبًاʿurubanDevotedأَتْرَابًاatrābanequals in age
  38. 38لِأَصْحَابِli-aṣḥābiFor (the) companionsالْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
  39. 39ثُلَّةٌthullatunA companyمِنَminaofالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former people
  40. 40وَثُلَّةٌwathullatunAnd a companyمِنَminaofالْءَاخِرِينَl-ākhirīnathe later people
  41. 41وَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuAnd (the) companionsالشِّمَالِl-shimāli(of) the leftمَاwhatأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالشِّمَالِl-shimāli(of) the left
  42. 42فِيInسَمُومٍsamūminscorching fireوَحَمِيمٍwaḥamīminand scalding water
  43. 43وَظِلٍّwaẓillinAnd a shadeمِنْminofيَحْمُومٍyaḥmūminblack smoke
  44. 44لَاNotبَارِدٍbāridincoolوَلَاwalāand notكَرِيمٍkarīminpleasant
  45. 45إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyكَانُواkānūwereقَبْلَqablabeforeذَلِكَdhālikathatمُتْرَفِينَmut'rafīnaindulging in affluence
  46. 46وَكَانُواwakānūAnd wereيُصِرُّونَyuṣirrūnapersistingعَلَىʿalāinالْحِنْثِl-ḥinthithe sinالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe great
  47. 47وَكَانُواwakānūAnd they used (to)يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayأَءِذَاa-idhāWhenمِتْنَاmit'nāwe dieوَكُنَّاwakunnāand becomeتُرَابًاturābandustوَعِظَامًاwaʿiẓāmanand bonesأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnasurely be resurrected
  48. 48أَوَءَابَاؤُنَاawaābāunāAnd alsoالْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūnaour forefathers
  49. 49قُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe formerوَالْءَاخِرِينَwal-ākhirīnaand the later people
  50. 50لَمَجْمُوعُونَlamajmūʿūnaSurely will be gatheredإِلَىilāforمِيقَاتِmīqāti(the) appointmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Dayمَعْلُومٍmaʿlūminwell-known
  51. 51ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed youأَيُّهَاayyuhāO those astrayالضَّالُّونَl-ḍālūnaO those astrayالْمُكَذِّبُونَl-mukadhibūnathe deniers
  52. 52لَءَاكِلُونَlaākilūnaWill surely eatمِنْminfromشَجَرٍshajarin(the) treeمِنْminofزَقُّومٍzaqqūminZaqqum
  53. 53فَمَالِئُونَfamāliūnaThen will fillمِنْهَاmin'hāwith itالْبُطُونَl-buṭūnathe bellies
  54. 54فَشَارِبُونَfashāribūnaAnd drinkعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover itمِنَmina[from]الْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmithe scalding water
  55. 55فَشَارِبُونَfashāribūnaAnd will drinkشُرْبَshur'ba(as) drinkingالْهِيمِl-hīmi(of) the thirsty camels
  56. 56هَذَاhādhāThisنُزُلُهُمْnuzuluhum(is) their hospitalityيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالدِّينِl-dīni(of) Judgment
  57. 57نَحْنُnaḥnuWeخَلَقْنَاكُمْkhalaqnākum[We] created youفَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why (do) notتُصَدِّقُونَtuṣaddiqūnayou admit the truth
  58. 58أَفَرَءَيْتُمْafara-aytumDo you seeمَاwhatتُمْنُونَtum'nūnayou emit
  59. 59ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumIs it youتَخْلُقُونَهُtakhluqūnahuwho create itأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnu(are) Weالْخَالِقُونَl-khāliqūnathe Creators
  60. 60نَحْنُnaḥnuWeقَدَّرْنَاqaddarnā[We] have decreedبَيْنَكُمُbaynakumuamong youالْمَوْتَl-mawtathe deathوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuWeبِمَسْبُوقِينَbimasbūqīna(are) outrun
  61. 61عَلَىʿalāInأَنْanthatنُبَدِّلَnubaddilaWe (will) changeأَمْثَالَكُمْamthālakumyour likeness[es]وَنُنْشِئَكُمْwanunshi-akumand produce youفِيinمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  62. 62وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyعَلِمْتُمُʿalim'tumuyou knowالنَّشْأَةَl-nashatathe creationالْأُولَىl-ūlāthe firstفَلَوْلَاfalawlāso why notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed
  63. 63أَفَرَءَيْتُمْafara-aytumAnd do you seeمَاwhatتَحْرُثُونَtaḥruthūnayou sow
  64. 64ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumIs it you (who)تَزْرَعُونَهُtazraʿūnahucause it to growأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnu(are) Weالزَّارِعُونَl-zāriʿūnathe Ones Who grow
  65. 65لَوْlawIfنَشَاءُnashāuWe willedلَجَعَلْنَاهُlajaʿalnāhuWe (would) surely make itحُطَامًاḥuṭāmandebrisفَظَلْتُمْfaẓaltumthen you would remainتَفَكَّهُونَtafakkahūnawondering
  66. 66إِنَّاinnāIndeed weلَمُغْرَمُونَlamugh'ramūnasurely are laden with debt
  67. 67بَلْbalNayنَحْنُnaḥnuweمَحْرُومُونَmaḥrūmūna(are) deprived
  68. 68أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuDo you seeالْمَاءَl-māathe waterالَّذِيalladhīwhichتَشْرَبُونَtashrabūnayou drink
  69. 69ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumIs it youأَنْزَلْتُمُوهُanzaltumūhuwho send it downمِنَminafromالْمُزْنِl-muz'nithe rain cloudsأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnuWeالْمُنْزِلُونَl-munzilūna(are) the Ones to send
  70. 70لَوْlawIfنَشَاءُnashāuWe willedجَعَلْنَاهُjaʿalnāhuWe (could) make itأُجَاجًاujājansaltyفَلَوْلَاfalawlāthen why are you not gratefulتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnathen why are you not grateful
  71. 71أَفَرَءَيْتُمُafara-aytumuDo you seeالنَّارَl-nārathe Fireالَّتِيallatīwhichتُورُونَtūrūnayou ignite
  72. 72ءَأَنْتُمْa-antumIs it youأَنْشَأْتُمْanshatumwho producedشَجَرَتَهَاshajaratahāits treeأَمْamorنَحْنُnaḥnuWeالْمُنْشِئُونَl-munshiūna(are) the Producers
  73. 73نَحْنُnaḥnuWeجَعَلْنَاهَاjaʿalnāhāhave made itتَذْكِرَةًtadhkiratana reminderوَمَتَاعًاwamatāʿanand a provisionلِلْمُقْوِينَlil'muq'wīnafor the wayfarers in the desert
  74. 74فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِاسْمِbi-is'mi(the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
  75. 75فَلَاfalāBut nayأُقْسِمُuq'simuI swearبِمَوَاقِعِbimawāqiʿiby settingالنُّجُومِl-nujūmi(of) the stars
  76. 76وَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed itلَقَسَمٌlaqasamun(is) surely an oathلَوْlawifتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou knowعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  77. 77إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itلَقُرْءَانٌlaqur'ānun(is) surely a Quranكَرِيمٌkarīmunnoble
  78. 78فِيInكِتَابٍkitābina Bookمَكْنُونٍmaknūninwell-guarded
  79. 79لَاNoneيَمَسُّهُyamassuhutouch itإِلَّاillāexceptالْمُطَهَّرُونَl-muṭaharūnathe purified
  80. 80تَنْزِيلٌtanzīlunA Revelationمِنْminfromرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  81. 81أَفَبِهَذَاafabihādhāThen is it to thisالْحَدِيثِl-ḥadīthistatementأَنْتُمْantumthat youمُدْهِنُونَmud'hinūna(are) indifferent
  82. 82وَتَجْعَلُونَwatajʿalūnaAnd you makeرِزْقَكُمْriz'qakumyour provisionأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youتُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny
  83. 83فَلَوْلَاfalawlāThen why notإِذَاidhāwhenبَلَغَتِbalaghatiit reachesالْحُلْقُومَl-ḥul'qūmathe throat
  84. 84وَأَنْتُمْwa-antumAnd youحِينَئِذٍḥīna-idhin(at) that timeتَنْظُرُونَtanẓurūnalook on
  85. 85وَنَحْنُwanaḥnuAnd Weأَقْرَبُaqrabu(are) nearerإِلَيْهِilayhito himمِنْكُمْminkumthan youوَلَكِنْwalākinbutلَاyou (do) not seeتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnayou (do) not see
  86. 86فَلَوْلَاfalawlāThen why notإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areغَيْرَghayranotمَدِينِينَmadīnīnato be recompensed
  87. 87تَرْجِعُونَهَاtarjiʿūnahāBring it backإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  88. 88فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThenإِنْinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofالْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathose brought near
  89. 89فَرَوْحٌfarawḥunThen restوَرَيْحَانٌwarayḥānunand bountyوَجَنَّتُwajannatuand a Gardenنَعِيمٍnaʿīmin(of) Pleasure
  90. 90وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAndإِنْinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنْminofأَصْحَابِaṣḥābi(the) companionsالْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
  91. 91فَسَلَامٌfasalāmunThen peaceلَكَlakafor youمِنْmin[from]أَصْحَابِaṣḥābi(the) companionsالْيَمِينِl-yamīni(of) the right
  92. 92وَأَمَّاwa-ammāButإِنْinifكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofالْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīnathe deniersالضَّالِّينَl-ḍālīnathe astray
  93. 93فَنُزُلٌfanuzulunThen hospitalityمِنْminofحَمِيمٍḥamīmin(the) scalding water
  94. 94وَتَصْلِيَةُwataṣliyatuAnd burningجَحِيمٍjaḥīmin(in) Hellfire
  95. 95إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely itحَقُّḥaqqu(is the) truthالْيَقِينِl-yaqīnicertain
  96. 96فَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥSo glorifyبِاسْمِbi-is'mi(the) nameرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Most Great
