بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 54 — Al-Qamar

  1. 1اقْتَرَبَتِiq'tarabatiHas come nearالسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hourوَانْشَقَّwa-inshaqqaand has splitالْقَمَرُl-qamaruthe moon
  2. 2وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَرَوْاyarawthey seeءَايَةًāyatana Signيُعْرِضُواyuʿ'riḍūthey turn awayوَيَقُولُواwayaqūlūand sayسِحْرٌsiḥ'runMagicمُسْتَمِرٌّmus'tamirruncontinuing
  3. 3وَكَذَّبُواwakadhabūAnd they deniedوَاتَّبَعُواwa-ittabaʿūand followedأَهْوَاءَهُمْahwāahumtheir desiresوَكُلُّwakullubut (for) everyأَمْرٍamrinmatterمُسْتَقِرٌّmus'taqirrun(will be a) settlement
  4. 4وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَهُمْjāahumhas come to themمِنَminaofالْأَنْبَاءِl-anbāithe informationمَاwhereinفِيهِfīhiwhereinمُزْدَجَرٌmuz'dajarun(is) deterrence
  5. 5حِكْمَةٌḥik'matunWisdomبَالِغَةٌbālighatunperfectفَمَاfamābut notتُغْنِtugh'niwill availالنُّذُرُl-nudhuruthe warnings
  6. 6فَتَوَلَّfatawallaSo turn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themيَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَدْعُyadʿuwill callالدَّاعِl-dāʿithe callerإِلَىilātoشَيْءٍshayina thingنُكُرٍnukurinterrible
  7. 7خُشَّعًاkhushaʿan(Will be) humbledأَبْصَارُهُمْabṣāruhumtheir eyesيَخْرُجُونَyakhrujūnathey will come forthمِنَminafromالْأَجْدَاثِl-ajdāthithe gravesكَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumas if they (were)جَرَادٌjarādunlocustsمُنْتَشِرٌmuntashirunspreading
  8. 8مُهْطِعِينَmuh'ṭiʿīnaRacing aheadإِلَىilātowardالدَّاعِl-dāʿithe callerيَقُولُyaqūluWill sayالْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelieversهَذَاhādhāThisيَوْمٌyawmun(is) a Dayعَسِرٌʿasirundifficult
  9. 9كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedقَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore themقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleنُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuhفَكَذَّبُواfakadhabūand they deniedعَبْدَنَاʿabdanāOur slaveوَقَالُواwaqālūand saidمَجْنُونٌmajnūnunA madmanوَازْدُجِرَwa-uz'dujiraand he was repelled
  10. 10فَدَعَاfadaʿāSo he calledرَبَّهُrabbahuhis LordأَنِّيannīI amمَغْلُوبٌmaghlūbunone overpoweredفَانْتَصِرْfa-intaṣirso help
  11. 11فَفَتَحْنَاfafataḥnāSo We openedأَبْوَابَabwāba(the) gatesالسَّمَاءِl-samāi(of) heavenبِمَاءٍbimāinwith waterمُنْهَمِرٍmun'hamirinpouring down
  12. 12وَفَجَّرْنَاwafajjarnāAnd We caused to burstالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthعُيُونًاʿuyūnan(with) springsفَالْتَقَىfal-taqāso metالْمَاءُl-māuthe water(s)عَلَىʿalāforأَمْرٍamrina matterقَدْqadalreadyقُدِرَqudirapredestined
  13. 13وَحَمَلْنَاهُwaḥamalnāhuAnd We carried himعَلَىʿalāonذَاتِdhāti(ark) made of planksأَلْوَاحٍalwāḥin(ark) made of planksوَدُسُرٍwadusurinand nails
  14. 14تَجْرِيtajrīSailingبِأَعْيُنِنَاbi-aʿyuninābefore Our eyesجَزَاءًjazāana rewardلِمَنْlimanfor (he) whoكَانَkānawasكُفِرَkufiradenied
  15. 15وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyتَرَكْنَاهَاtaraknāhāWe left itءَايَةًāyatan(as) a Signفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  16. 16فَكَيْفَfakayfaSo howكَانَkānawasعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  17. 17وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاyassarnāWe have made easyالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلِلذِّكْرِlildhik'rifor remembranceفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  18. 18كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedعَادٌʿādunAadفَكَيْفَfakayfaso howكَانَkānawasعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  19. 19إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themرِيحًاrīḥana windصَرْصَرًاṣarṣaranfuriousفِيonيَوْمِyawmia dayنَحْسٍnaḥsin(of) misfortuneمُسْتَمِرٍّmus'tamirrincontinuous
  20. 20تَنْزِعُtanziʿuPlucking outالنَّاسَl-nāsamenكَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumas if they (were)أَعْجَازُaʿjāzutrunksنَخْلٍnakhlin(of) date-palmsمُنْقَعِرٍmunqaʿirinuprooted
  21. 21فَكَيْفَfakayfaSo howكَانَkānawasعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  22. 22وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاyassarnāWe have made easyالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلِلذِّكْرِlildhik'rifor remembranceفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  23. 23كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedثَمُودُthamūduThamudبِالنُّذُرِbil-nudhurithe warnings
  24. 24فَقَالُواfaqālūAnd saidأَبَشَرًاabasharanIs (it) a human beingمِنَّاminnāamong usوَاحِدًاwāḥidanoneنَتَّبِعُهُnattabiʿuhu(that) we should follow himإِنَّاinnāIndeed weإِذًاidhanthenلَفِيlafī(will be) surely inضَلَالٍḍalālinerrorوَسُعُرٍwasuʿurinand madness
  25. 25أَءُلْقِيَa-ul'qiyaHas been sentالذِّكْرُl-dhik'ruthe Reminderعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himمِنْminfromبَيْنِنَاbaynināamong usبَلْbalNayهُوَhuwaheكَذَّابٌkadhābun(is) a liarأَشِرٌashiruninsolent
  26. 26سَيَعْلَمُونَsayaʿlamūnaThey will knowغَدًاghadantomorrowمَنِmaniwhoالْكَذَّابُl-kadhābu(is) the liarالْأَشِرُl-ashiruthe insolent one
  27. 27إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weمُرْسِلُواmur'silū(are) sendingالنَّاقَةِl-nāqatithe she-camelفِتْنَةًfit'natan(as) a trialلَهُمْlahumfor themفَارْتَقِبْهُمْfa-ir'taqib'humso watch themوَاصْطَبِرْwa-iṣ'ṭabirand be patient
  28. 28وَنَبِّئْهُمْwanabbi'humAnd inform themأَنَّannathatالْمَاءَl-māathe waterقِسْمَةٌqis'matun(is) to be sharedبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themكُلُّkullueachشِرْبٍshir'bindrinkمُحْتَضَرٌmuḥ'taḍarunattended
  29. 29فَنَادَوْاfanādawBut they calledصَاحِبَهُمْṣāḥibahumtheir companionفَتَعَاطَىfataʿāṭāand he tookفَعَقَرَfaʿaqaraand hamstrung
  30. 30فَكَيْفَfakayfaSo howكَانَkānawasعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  31. 31إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themصَيْحَةًṣayḥatanthunderous blastوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatansingleفَكَانُواfakānūand they becameكَهَشِيمِkahashīmilike dry twig fragmentsالْمُحْتَظِرِl-muḥ'taẓiri(used by) a fence builder
  32. 32وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاyassarnāWe have made easyالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلِلذِّكْرِlildhik'rifor remembranceفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  33. 33كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleلُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lutبِالنُّذُرِbil-nudhurithe warnings
  34. 34إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnā[We] sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themحَاصِبًاḥāṣibana storm of stonesإِلَّاillāexceptءَالَāla(the) familyلُوطٍlūṭin(of) LutنَجَّيْنَاهُمْnajjaynāhumWe saved themبِسَحَرٍbisaḥarinby dawn
  35. 35نِعْمَةًniʿ'matan(As) a favorمِنْminfromعِنْدِنَاʿindināUsكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنَجْزِيnajzīWe rewardمَنْman(one) whoشَكَرَshakara(is) grateful
  36. 36وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَنْذَرَهُمْandharahumhe warned themبَطْشَتَنَاbaṭshatanā(of) Our seizureفَتَمَارَوْاfatamārawbut they disputedبِالنُّذُرِbil-nudhurithe warnings
  37. 37وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyرَاوَدُوهُrāwadūhuthey demanded from himعَنْʿanthey demanded from himضَيْفِهِḍayfihihis guestsفَطَمَسْنَاfaṭamasnāso We blindedأَعْيُنَهُمْaʿyunahumtheir eyesفَذُوقُواfadhūqūSo tasteعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  38. 38وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyصَبَّحَهُمْṣabbaḥahumseized them in the morningبُكْرَةًbuk'ratanearlyعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentمُسْتَقِرٌّmus'taqirrunabiding
  39. 39فَذُوقُواfadhūqūSo tasteعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentوَنُذُرِwanudhuriand My warnings
  40. 40وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyيَسَّرْنَاyassarnāWe have made easyالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلِلذِّكْرِlildhik'rifor remembranceفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  41. 41وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَjāacameءَالَāla(to the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunالنُّذُرُl-nudhuruwarnings
  42. 42كَذَّبُواkadhabūThey deniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsكُلِّهَاkullihāall of themفَأَخَذْنَاهُمْfa-akhadhnāhumso We seized themأَخْذَakhdha(with) a seizureعَزِيزٍʿazīzin(of) All-Mightyمُقْتَدِرٍmuq'tadirin(the) Powerful One
  43. 43أَكُفَّارُكُمْakuffārukumAre your disbelieversخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِنْminthanأُولَئِكُمْulāikumthoseأَمْamorلَكُمْlakumfor youبَرَاءَةٌbarāatun(is) an exemptionفِيinالزُّبُرِl-zuburithe Scriptures
  44. 44أَمْamOrيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they sayنَحْنُnaḥnuWeجَمِيعٌjamīʿun(are) an assemblyمُنْتَصِرٌmuntaṣirunhelping (each other)
  45. 45سَيُهْزَمُsayuh'zamuSoon will be defeatedالْجَمْعُl-jamʿu(their) assemblyوَيُوَلُّونَwayuwallūnaand they will turnالدُّبُرَl-dubura(their) backs
  46. 46بَلِbaliNayالسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hourمَوْعِدُهُمْmawʿiduhum(is) their promised timeوَالسَّاعَةُwal-sāʿatuand the Hourأَدْهَىadhā(will be) more grievousوَأَمَرُّwa-amarruand more bitter
  47. 47إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminalsفِي(are) inضَلَالٍḍalālinan errorوَسُعُرٍwasuʿurinand madness
  48. 48يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيُسْحَبُونَyus'ḥabūnathey will be draggedفِيintoالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireعَلَىʿalāonوُجُوهِهِمْwujūhihimtheir facesذُوقُواdhūqūTasteمَسَّmassa(the) touchسَقَرَsaqara(of) Hell
  49. 49إِنَّاinnāIndeed [We]كُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingخَلَقْنَاهُkhalaqnāhuWe created itبِقَدَرٍbiqadarinby a measure
  50. 50وَمَاwamāAnd notأَمْرُنَاamrunā(is) Our Commandإِلَّاillābutوَاحِدَةٌwāḥidatunoneكَلَمْحٍkalamḥinlike the twinklingبِالْبَصَرِbil-baṣari(of) the eye
  51. 51وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyedأَشْيَاعَكُمْashyāʿakumyour kindsفَهَلْfahalso is (there)مِنْminanyمُدَّكِرٍmuddakirinwho will receive admonition
  52. 52وَكُلُّwakulluAnd everyشَيْءٍshayinthingفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhuthey didفِي(is) inالزُّبُرِl-zuburithe written records
  53. 53وَكُلُّwakulluAnd everyصَغِيرٍṣaghīrinsmallوَكَبِيرٍwakabīrinand bigمُسْتَطَرٌmus'taṭarun(is) written down
  54. 54إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteousفِي(will be) inجَنَّاتٍjannātingardensوَنَهَرٍwanaharinand river
  55. 55فِيInمَقْعَدِmaqʿadia seatصِدْقٍṣid'qin(of) honorعِنْدَʿindanearمَلِيكٍmalīkina Kingمُقْتَدِرٍmuq'tadirinMost Powerful
