Surah 52 — At-Tur

1. 1وَالطُّورِwal-ṭūriBy the Mount
2. 2وَكِتَابٍwakitābinAnd by (the) Bookمَسْطُورٍmasṭūrinwritten
3. 3فِيfīInرَقٍّraqqinparchmentمَنْشُورٍmanshūrinunrolled
4. 4وَالْبَيْتِwal-baytiBy the Houseالْمَعْمُورِl-maʿmūrifrequented
5. 5وَالسَّقْفِwal-saqfiBy the roofالْمَرْفُوعِl-marfūʿiraised high
6. 6وَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriBy the seaالْمَسْجُورِl-masjūrifilled
7. 7إِنَّinnaIndeedعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَوَاقِعٌlawāqiʿun(will) surely occur
8. 8مَاmāNotلَهُlahufor itمِنْminanyدَافِعٍdāfiʿinpreventer
9. 9يَوْمَyawma(On the) Dayتَمُورُtamūruwill shakeالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe heavenمَوْرًاmawran(with violent) shake
10. 10وَتَسِيرُwatasīruAnd will move awayالْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsسَيْرًاsayran(with an awful) movement
11. 11فَوَيْلٌfawaylunThen woeيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayلِلْمُكَذِّبِينَlil'mukadhibīnato the deniers
12. 12الَّذِينَalladhīnaWhoهُمْhum[they]فِيfīinخَوْضٍkhawḍin(vain) discourseيَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūnaare playing
13. 13يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيُدَعُّونَyudaʿʿūnathey will be thrustإِلَىilā(in)toنَارِnāri(the) Fireجَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hellدَعًّاdaʿʿan(with) a thrust
14. 14هَذِهِhādhihiThisالنَّارُl-nāru(is) the Fireالَّتِيallatīwhichكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)بِهَاbihā[of it]تُكَذِّبُونَtukadhibūnadeny
15. 15أَفَسِحْرٌafasiḥ'runThen is this magicهَذَاhādhāThen is this magicأَمْamorأَنْتُمْantumyouلَاlā(do) notتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnasee
16. 16اصْلَوْهَاiṣ'lawhāBurn in itفَاصْبِرُواfa-iṣ'birūthen be patientأَوْaworلَاlā(do) notتَصْبِرُواtaṣbirūbe patientسَوَاءٌsawāon(it is) sameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyتُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou are being recompensedمَاmā(for) whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
17. 17إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteousفِيfī(will be) inجَنَّاتٍjannātinGardensوَنَعِيمٍwanaʿīminand pleasure
18. 18فَاكِهِينَfākihīnaEnjoyingبِمَاbimāin whatءَاتَاهُمْātāhumhas given themرَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir Lordوَوَقَاهُمْwawaqāhumand protected themرَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir Lordعَذَابَʿadhāba(from the) punishmentالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) Hellfire
19. 19كُلُواkulūEatوَاشْرَبُواwa-ish'rabūand drinkهَنِيئًاhanīan(in) satisfactionبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
20. 20مُتَّكِئِينَmuttakiīnaRecliningعَلَىʿalāonسُرُرٍsururinthronesمَصْفُوفَةٍmaṣfūfatinlined upوَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْwazawwajnāhumand We will marry themبِحُورٍbiḥūrinto fair onesعِينٍʿīninwith large eyes
21. 21وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْwa-ittabaʿathumand followed themذُرِّيَّتُهُمْdhurriyyatuhumtheir offspringبِإِيمَانٍbiīmāninin faithأَلْحَقْنَاalḥaqnāWe will joinبِهِمْbihimwith themذُرِّيَّتَهُمْdhurriyyatahumtheir offspringوَمَاwamāand notأَلَتْنَاهُمْalatnāhumWe will deprive themمِنْminofعَمَلِهِمْʿamalihimtheir deedsمِنْmin(in) anyشَيْءٍshayinthingكُلُّkulluEveryامْرِئٍim'ri-inpersonبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبَkasabahe earnedرَهِينٌrahīnun(is) pledged
22. 22وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُمْwa-amdadnāhumAnd We will provide themبِفَاكِهَةٍbifākihatinwith fruitوَلَحْمٍwalaḥminand meatمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire
23. 23يَتَنَازَعُونَyatanāzaʿūnaThey will pass to one anotherفِيهَاfīhāthereinكَأْسًاkasana cupلَاlānoلَغْوٌlaghwunill speechفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَلَاwalāand noتَأْثِيمٌtathīmunsin
24. 24وَيَطُوفُwayaṭūfuAnd will circulateعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimamong themغِلْمَانٌghil'mānunboysلَهُمْlahumfor themكَأَنَّهُمْka-annahumas if they (were)لُؤْلُؤٌlu'lu-onpearlsمَكْنُونٌmaknūnunwell-protected
25. 25وَأَقْبَلَwa-aqbalaAnd will approachبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themعَلَىʿalātoبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersيَتَسَاءَلُونَyatasāalūnainquiring
26. 26قَالُواqālūThey will sayإِنَّاinnāIndeed weكُنَّاkunnā[we] wereقَبْلُqablubeforeفِيfīamongأَهْلِنَاahlināour familiesمُشْفِقِينَmush'fiqīnafearful
27. 27فَمَنَّfamannaBut Allah conferred favorاللَّهُl-lahuBut Allah conferred favorعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usوَوَقَانَاwawaqānāand protected usعَذَابَʿadhāba(from the) punishmentالسَّمُومِl-samūmi(of) the Scorching Fire
28. 28إِنَّاinnāIndeed, weكُنَّاkunnā[we] used (to)مِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeنَدْعُوهُnadʿūhucall HimإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heهُوَhuwa[He]الْبَرُّl-baru(is) the Most Kindالرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
29. 29فَذَكِّرْfadhakkirTherefore remindفَمَاfamāfor notأَنْتَantayouبِنِعْمَتِbiniʿ'mati(are) by (the) graceرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordبِكَاهِنٍbikāhinina soothsayerوَلَاwalāand notمَجْنُونٍmajnūnina madman
30. 30أَمْamOrيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they sayشَاعِرٌshāʿirunA poetنَتَرَبَّصُnatarabbaṣuwe waitبِهِbihifor himرَيْبَraybaa misfortune of timeالْمَنُونِl-manūnia misfortune of time
31. 31قُلْqulSayتَرَبَّصُواtarabbaṣūWaitفَإِنِّيfa-innīfor indeed I amمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youمِنَminaamongالْمُتَرَبِّصِينَl-mutarabiṣīnathose who wait
32. 32أَمْamOrتَأْمُرُهُمْtamuruhumcommand themأَحْلَامُهُمْaḥlāmuhumtheir mindsبِهَذَاbihādhāthisأَمْamorهُمْhumtheyقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleطَاغُونَṭāghūnatransgressing
33. 33أَمْamOrيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they sayتَقَوَّلَهُtaqawwalahuHe has made it upبَلْbalNayلَاlānotيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe
34. 34فَلْيَأْتُواfalyatūThen let them bringبِحَدِيثٍbiḥadīthina statementمِثْلِهِmith'lihilike itإِنْinifكَانُواkānūtheyصَادِقِينَṣādiqīna(are) truthful
35. 35أَمْamOrخُلِقُواkhuliqūwere they createdمِنْminofغَيْرِghayrinothingشَيْءٍshayinnothingأَمْamorهُمُhumu(are) theyالْخَالِقُونَl-khāliqūnathe creators
36. 36أَمْamOrخَلَقُواkhalaqū(did) they createالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبَلْbalNayلَاlānotيُوقِنُونَyūqinūnathey are certain
37. 37أَمْamOrعِنْدَهُمْʿindahumwith themخَزَائِنُkhazāinu(are the) treasuresرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordأَمْamorهُمُhumu(are) theyالْمُصَيْطِرُونَl-muṣayṭirūnathe controllers
38. 38أَمْamOrلَهُمْlahumfor themسُلَّمٌsullamun(is) a stairwayيَسْتَمِعُونَyastamiʿūnathey listenفِيهِfīhitherewithفَلْيَأْتِfalyatiThen let bringمُسْتَمِعُهُمْmus'tamiʿuhumtheir listenerبِسُلْطَانٍbisul'ṭāninan authorityمُبِينٍmubīninclear
39. 39أَمْamOrلَهُlahufor Himالْبَنَاتُl-banātu(are) daughtersوَلَكُمُwalakumuwhile for youالْبَنُونَl-banūna(are) sons
40. 40أَمْamOrتَسْءَلُهُمْtasaluhum(do) you ask from themأَجْرًاajrana paymentفَهُمْfahumso theyمِنْminfromمَغْرَمٍmaghramina debtمُثْقَلُونَmuth'qalūna(are) overburdened
41. 41أَمْamOrعِنْدَهُمُʿindahumuwith themالْغَيْبُl-ghaybu(is) the unseenفَهُمْfahumso theyيَكْتُبُونَyaktubūnawrite (it) down
42. 42أَمْamOrيُرِيدُونَyurīdūna(do) they intendكَيْدًاkaydana plotفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveهُمُhumuthemselvesالْمَكِيدُونَl-makīdūna(are in) the plot
43. 43أَمْamOrلَهُمْlahumfor themإِلَهٌilāhuna godغَيْرُghayruother thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahسُبْحَانَsub'ḥānaGlory beاللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allahعَمَّاʿammāfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
44. 44وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَرَوْاyarawthey were to seeكِسْفًاkis'fana portionمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyسَاقِطًاsāqiṭanfallingيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey will sayسَحَابٌsaḥābunCloudsمَرْكُومٌmarkūmunheaped up
45. 45فَذَرْهُمْfadharhumSo leave themحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُلَاقُواyulāqūthey meetيَوْمَهُمُyawmahumutheir Dayالَّذِيalladhīwhichفِيهِfīhiin itيُصْعَقُونَyuṣ'ʿaqūnathey will faint
46. 46يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayلَاlānotيُغْنِيyugh'nīwill availعَنْهُمْʿanhumto themكَيْدُهُمْkayduhumtheir plottingشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنْصَرُونَyunṣarūnawill be helped
47. 47وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoظَلَمُواẓalamūdo wrongعَذَابًاʿadhāban(is) a punishmentدُونَdūnabeforeذَلِكَdhālikathatوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
48. 48وَاصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birSo be patientلِحُكْمِliḥuk'mifor (the) Commandرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordفَإِنَّكَfa-innakafor indeed youبِأَعْيُنِنَاbi-aʿyuninā(are) in Our EyesوَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥAnd glorifyبِحَمْدِbiḥamdi(the) praiseرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordحِينَḥīnawhenتَقُومُtaqūmuyou arise
49. 49وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightفَسَبِّحْهُfasabbiḥ'huglorify Himوَإِدْبَارَwa-id'bāraand afterالنُّجُومِl-nujūmithe stars
