بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 48 — Al-Fath

  1. 1إِنَّاinnāIndeedفَتَحْنَاfataḥnāWe have given victoryلَكَlakato youفَتْحًاfatḥana victoryمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
  2. 2لِيَغْفِرَliyaghfiraThat may forgiveلَكَlakafor youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاwhatتَقَدَّمَtaqaddamaprecededمِنْminofذَنْبِكَdhanbikayour faultوَمَاwamāand whatتَأَخَّرَta-akharawill followوَيُتِمَّwayutimmaand completeنِعْمَتَهُniʿ'matahuHis favorعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youوَيَهْدِيَكَwayahdiyakaand guide youصِرَاطًاṣirāṭan(to) a Pathمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīmanStraight
  3. 3وَيَنْصُرَكَwayanṣurakaAnd Allah may help youاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah may help youنَصْرًاnaṣran(with) a helpعَزِيزًاʿazīzanmighty
  4. 4هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْزَلَanzalasent downالسَّكِينَةَl-sakīnata[the] tranquilityفِيin(to)قُلُوبِqulūbi(the) heartsالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersلِيَزْدَادُواliyazdādūthat they may increaseإِيمَانًاīmānan(in) faithمَعَmaʿawithإِيمَانِهِمْīmānihimtheir faithوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahجُنُودُjunūdu(are the) hostsالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَكَانَwakānaand Allahاللَّهُl-lahuand Allahعَلِيمًاʿalīman(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
  5. 5لِيُدْخِلَliyud'khilaThat He may admitالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believing menوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِwal-mu'minātiand the believing womenجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَيُكَفِّرَwayukaffiraand (to) removeعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themسَيِّئَاتِهِمْsayyiātihimtheir misdeedsوَكَانَwakānaand isذَلِكَdhālikathatعِنْدَʿindawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَوْزًاfawzana successعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
  6. 6وَيُعَذِّبَwayuʿadhibaAnd He (may) punishالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocrite menوَالْمُنَافِقَاتِwal-munāfiqātiand the hypocrite womenوَالْمُشْرِكِينَwal-mush'rikīnaand the polytheist menوَالْمُشْرِكَاتِwal-mush'rikātiand the polytheist womenالظَّانِّينَl-ẓānīnawho assumeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allahظَنَّẓannaan assumptionالسَّوْءِl-sawievilعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimUpon themدَائِرَةُdāiratu(is) a turnالسَّوْءِl-sawi(of) evilوَغَضِبَwaghaḍibaAnd (Allah's) wrathاللَّهُl-lahu(And) Allah's (wrath)عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themوَلَعَنَهُمْwalaʿanahumand He has cursed themوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellوَسَاءَتْwasāatand evilمَصِيرًاmaṣīran(is the) destination
  7. 7وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahجُنُودُjunūdu(are the) hostsالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَكَانَwakānaand Allahاللَّهُl-lahuand Allahعَزِيزًاʿazīzan(is) All-MightyحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
  8. 8إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَرْسَلْنَاكَarsalnāka[We] have sent youشَاهِدًاshāhidan(as) a witnessوَمُبَشِّرًاwamubashiranand (as) a bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرًاwanadhīranand (as) a warner
  9. 9لِتُؤْمِنُواlitu'minūThat you may believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerوَتُعَزِّرُوهُwatuʿazzirūhuand (may) honor himوَتُوَقِّرُوهُwatuwaqqirūhuand respect himوَتُسَبِّحُوهُwatusabbiḥūhuand glorify Himبُكْرَةًbuk'ratanmorningوَأَصِيلًاwa-aṣīlanand evening
  10. 10إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُبَايِعُونَكَyubāyiʿūnakapledge allegiance to youإِنَّمَاinnamāonlyيُبَايِعُونَyubāyiʿūnathey pledge allegianceاللَّهَl-laha(to) Allahيَدُyadu(The) Handاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَوْقَfawqa(is) overأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsفَمَنْfamanThen whoeverنَكَثَnakathabreaks (his oath)فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَنْكُثُyankuthuhe breaksعَلَىʿalāagainstنَفْسِهِnafsihihimselfوَمَنْwamanand whoeverأَوْفَىawfāfulfilsبِمَاbimāwhatعَاهَدَʿāhadahe has covenantedعَلَيْهُʿalayhu(with)اللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَسَيُؤْتِيهِfasayu'tīhisoon He will give himأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
  11. 11سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill sayلَكَlakato youالْمُخَلَّفُونَl-mukhalafūnathose who remained behindمِنَminaofالْأَعْرَابِl-aʿrābithe BedouinsشَغَلَتْنَاshaghalatnāKept us busyأَمْوَالُنَاamwālunāour propertiesوَأَهْلُونَاwa-ahlūnāand our familiesفَاسْتَغْفِرْfa-is'taghfirso ask forgivenessلَنَاlanāfor usيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayبِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْbi-alsinatihimwith their tonguesمَاwhatلَيْسَlaysais notفِيinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsقُلْqulSayفَمَنْfamanThen whoيَمْلِكُyamlikuhas powerلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingإِنْinifأَرَادَarādaHe intendsبِكُمْbikumfor youضَرًّاḍarranharmأَوْaworأَرَادَarādaHe intendsبِكُمْbikumfor youنَفْعًاnafʿana benefitبَلْbalNayكَانَkānaisاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
  12. 12بَلْbalNayظَنَنْتُمْẓanantumyou thoughtأَنْanthatلَنْlan(would) neverيَنْقَلِبَyanqalibareturnالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَwal-mu'minūnaand the believersإِلَىilātoأَهْلِيهِمْahlīhimtheir familiesأَبَدًاabadaneverوَزُيِّنَwazuyyinathat was made fair-seemingذَلِكَdhālikathat was made fair-seemingفِيinقُلُوبِكُمْqulūbikumyour heartsوَظَنَنْتُمْwaẓanantumAnd you assumedظَنَّẓannaan assumptionالسَّوْءِl-sawievilوَكُنْتُمْwakuntumand you becameقَوْمًاqawmana peopleبُورًاbūranruined
  13. 13وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(has) not believedيُؤْمِنْyu'min(has) not believedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerفَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, Weأَعْتَدْنَاaʿtadnā[We] have preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversسَعِيرًاsaʿīrana Blazing Fire
  14. 14وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) kingdomالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthيَغْفِرُyaghfiruHe forgivesلِمَنْlimanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
  15. 15سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill sayالْمُخَلَّفُونَl-mukhalafūnathose who remained behindإِذَاidhāwhenانْطَلَقْتُمْinṭalaqtumyou set forthإِلَىilātowardsمَغَانِمَmaghānima(the) spoils of warلِتَأْخُذُوهَاlitakhudhūhāto take itذَرُونَاdharūnāAllow usنَتَّبِعْكُمْnattabiʿ'kum(to) follow youيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey wishأَنْantoيُبَدِّلُواyubaddilūchangeكَلَامَkalāma(the) Wordsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahقُلْqulSayلَنْlanNeverتَتَّبِعُونَاtattabiʿūnāwill you follow usكَذَلِكُمْkadhālikumThusقَالَqālaAllah saidاللَّهُl-lahuAllah saidمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeفَسَيَقُولُونَfasayaqūlūnaThen they will sayبَلْbalNayتَحْسُدُونَنَاtaḥsudūnanāyou envy usبَلْbalNayكَانُواkānūthey wereلَاnotيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstandingإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana little
  16. 16قُلْqulSayلِلْمُخَلَّفِينَlil'mukhallafīnato those who remained behindمِنَminaofالْأَعْرَابِl-aʿrābithe Bedouinsسَتُدْعَوْنَsatud'ʿawnaYou will be calledإِلَىilātoقَوْمٍqawmina peopleأُولِيulīpossessors of military mightبَأْسٍbasinpossessors of military mightشَدِيدٍshadīdingreatتُقَاتِلُونَهُمْtuqātilūnahumyou will fight themأَوْaworيُسْلِمُونَyus'limūnathey will submitفَإِنْfa-inThen ifتُطِيعُواtuṭīʿūyou obeyيُؤْتِكُمُyu'tikumuAllah will give youاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will give youأَجْرًاajrana rewardحَسَنًاḥasanangoodوَإِنْwa-inbut ifتَتَوَلَّوْاtatawallawyou turn awayكَمَاkamāasتَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou turned awayمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeيُعَذِّبْكُمْyuʿadhib'kumHe will punish youعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
  17. 17لَيْسَlaysaNot isعَلَىʿalāuponالْأَعْمَىl-aʿmāthe blindحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَلَاwalāand notعَلَىʿalāonالْأَعْرَجِl-aʿrajithe lameحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَلَاwalāand notعَلَىʿalāonالْمَرِيضِl-marīḍithe sickحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerيُدْخِلْهُyud'khil'huHe will admit himجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversوَمَنْwamanbut whoeverيَتَوَلَّyatawallaturns awayيُعَذِّبْهُyuʿadhib'huHe will punish himعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
  18. 18لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyرَضِيَraḍiyaAllah was pleasedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah was pleasedعَنِʿaniwithالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersإِذْidhwhenيُبَايِعُونَكَyubāyiʿūnakathey pledged allegiance to youتَحْتَtaḥtaunderالشَّجَرَةِl-shajaratithe treeفَعَلِمَfaʿalimaand He knewمَاwhatفِي(was) inقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsفَأَنْزَلَfa-anzalaso He sent downالسَّكِينَةَl-sakīnatathe tranquilityعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themوَأَثَابَهُمْwa-athābahumand rewarded themفَتْحًاfatḥan(with) a victoryقَرِيبًاqarībannear
  19. 19وَمَغَانِمَwamaghānimaAnd spoils of warكَثِيرَةًkathīratanmuchيَأْخُذُونَهَاyakhudhūnahāthat they will takeوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَزِيزًاʿazīzanAll-MightyحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
  20. 20وَعَدَكُمُwaʿadakumuAllah has promised youاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has promised youمَغَانِمَmaghānimaspoils of warكَثِيرَةًkathīratanmuchتَأْخُذُونَهَاtakhudhūnahāthat you will take itفَعَجَّلَfaʿajjalaand He has hastenedلَكُمْlakumfor youهَذِهِhādhihithisوَكَفَّwakaffaand has withheldأَيْدِيَaydiya(the) handsالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youوَلِتَكُونَwalitakūnathat it may beءَايَةًāyatana signلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believersوَيَهْدِيَكُمْwayahdiyakumand He may guide youصِرَاطًاṣirāṭan(to the) Pathمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīmanStraight
  21. 21وَأُخْرَىwa-ukh'rāAnd othersلَمْlamnotتَقْدِرُواtaqdirūyou had powerعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāover themقَدْqadsurelyأَحَاطَaḥāṭaAllah encompassedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah encompassedبِهَاbihāthemوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَىʿalāoverكُلِّkulliallشَيْءٍshayinthingsقَدِيرًاqadīranAll-Powerful
  22. 22وَلَوْwalawAnd ifقَاتَلَكُمُqātalakumufight youالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveلَوَلَّوُاlawallawūsurely they would turnالْأَدْبَارَl-adbārathe backsثُمَّthummaThenلَاnotيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey would findوَلِيًّاwaliyyanany protectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
  23. 23سُنَّةَsunnata(The established) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahالَّتِيallatīwhichقَدْqadpassed awayخَلَتْkhalatpassed awayمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَلَنْwalanand neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلِسُنَّةِlisunnatiin (the) way of Allahاللَّهِl-lahiin (the) way of Allahتَبْدِيلًاtabdīlanany change
  24. 24وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoكَفَّkaffawithheldأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youوَأَيْدِيَكُمْwa-aydiyakumand your handsعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themبِبَطْنِbibaṭniwithinمَكَّةَmakkataMakkahمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterأَنْanthatأَظْفَرَكُمْaẓfarakumHe gave you victoryعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
  25. 25هُمُhumuTheyالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَصَدُّوكُمْwaṣaddūkumand hindered youعَنِʿanifromالْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiAl-Masjidالْحَرَامِl-ḥarāmiAl-Haraamوَالْهَدْيَwal-hadyawhile the offeringمَعْكُوفًاmaʿkūfan(was) preventedأَنْanfromيَبْلُغَyablughareachingمَحِلَّهُmaḥillahuits place (of sacrifice)وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notرِجَالٌrijālun(for) menمُؤْمِنُونَmu'minūnabelievingوَنِسَاءٌwanisāonand womenمُؤْمِنَاتٌmu'minātunbelievingلَمْlamnotتَعْلَمُوهُمْtaʿlamūhumyou knew themأَنْanthatتَطَئُوهُمْtaṭaūhumyou may trample themفَتُصِيبَكُمْfatuṣībakumand would befall youمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themمَعَرَّةٌmaʿarratunany harmبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeلِيُدْخِلَliyud'khilaThat Allah may admitاللَّهُl-lahuThat Allah may admitفِيtoرَحْمَتِهِraḥmatihiHis MercyمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsلَوْlawIfتَزَيَّلُواtazayyalūthey had been apartلَعَذَّبْنَاlaʿadhabnāsurely, We would have punishedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
  26. 26إِذْidhWhenجَعَلَjaʿalahad putالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedفِيinقُلُوبِهِمُqulūbihimutheir heartsالْحَمِيَّةَl-ḥamiyatadisdainحَمِيَّةَḥamiyyata(the) disdainالْجَاهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyati(of) the time of ignoranceفَأَنْزَلَfa-anzalaThen Allah sent downاللَّهُl-lahuThen Allah sent downسَكِينَتَهُsakīnatahuHis tranquilityعَلَىʿalāuponرَسُولِهِrasūlihiHis Messengerوَعَلَىwaʿalāand uponالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersوَأَلْزَمَهُمْwa-alzamahumand made them adhereكَلِمَةَkalimata(to the) wordالتَّقْوَىl-taqwā(of) righteousnessوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereأَحَقَّaḥaqqamore deservingبِهَاbihāof itوَأَهْلَهَاwa-ahlahāand worthy of itوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knower
  27. 27لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyصَدَقَṣadaqaAllah has fulfilledاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has fulfilledرَسُولَهُrasūlahuHis Messenger'sالرُّءْيَاl-ru'yāvisionبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthلَتَدْخُلُنَّlatadkhulunnaSurely, you will enterالْمَسْجِدَl-masjidaAl-Masjidالْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmaAl-HaraamإِنْinifشَاءَshāaAllah willsاللَّهُl-lahuAllah willsءَامِنِينَāminīnasecureمُحَلِّقِينَmuḥalliqīnahaving shavedرُءُوسَكُمْruūsakumyour headsوَمُقَصِّرِينَwamuqaṣṣirīnaand shortenedلَاnotتَخَافُونَtakhāfūnafearingفَعَلِمَfaʿalimaBut He knewمَاwhatلَمْlamnotتَعْلَمُواtaʿlamūyou knewفَجَعَلَfajaʿalaand He madeمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesذَلِكَdhālikathatفَتْحًاfatḥana victoryقَرِيبًاqarībannear
  28. 28هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَرْسَلَarsala(has) sentرَسُولَهُrasūlahuHis Messengerبِالْهُدَىbil-hudāwith guidanceوَدِينِwadīniand (the) religionالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe trueلِيُظْهِرَهُliyuẓ'hirahuthat He (may) make it prevailعَلَىʿalāoverالدِّينِl-dīnithe religionsكُلِّهِkullihiallوَكَفَىwakafāAnd sufficient isبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a Witness
  29. 29مُحَمَّدٌmuḥammadunMuhammadرَسُولُrasūlu(is the) Messenger of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(is the) Messenger of Allahوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoمَعَهُmaʿahu(are) with himأَشِدَّاءُashiddāu(are) firmعَلَىʿalāagainstالْكُفَّارِl-kufārithe disbelieversرُحَمَاءُruḥamāuand mercifulبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themselvesتَرَاهُمْtarāhumYou see themرُكَّعًاrukkaʿanbowingسُجَّدًاsujjadanand prostratingيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekingفَضْلًاfaḍlanBountyمِنَminafrom Allahاللَّهِl-lahifrom Allahوَرِضْوَانًاwariḍ'wānanand pleasureسِيمَاهُمْsīmāhumTheir markفِي(is) onوُجُوهِهِمْwujūhihimtheir facesمِنْminfromأَثَرِathari(the) traceالسُّجُودِl-sujūdi(of) the prostrationذَلِكَdhālikaThatمَثَلُهُمْmathaluhum(is) their similitudeفِيinالتَّوْرَاةِl-tawrātithe TaurahوَمَثَلُهُمْwamathaluhumAnd their similitudeفِيinالْإِنْجِيلِl-injīlithe Injeelكَزَرْعٍkazarʿin(is) like a seedأَخْرَجَakhraja(which) sends forthشَطْءَهُshaṭahuits shootفَءَازَرَهُfaāzarahuthen strengthens itفَاسْتَغْلَظَfa-is'taghlaẓathen it becomes thickفَاسْتَوَىfa-is'tawāand it standsعَلَىʿalāuponسُوقِهِsūqihiits stemيُعْجِبُyuʿ'jibudelightingالزُّرَّاعَl-zurāʿathe sowersلِيَغِيظَliyaghīẓathat He (may) enrageبِهِمُbihimuby themالْكُفَّارَl-kufārathe disbelieversوَعَدَwaʿadaAllah has promisedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has promisedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themمَغْفِرَةًmaghfiratanforgivenessوَأَجْرًاwa-ajranand a rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
