بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 44 — Ad-Dukhaan

  1. 1حمٓha-meemHa Meem
  2. 2وَالْكِتَابِwal-kitābiBy the Bookالْمُبِينِl-mubīnithe clear
  3. 3إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhurevealed itفِيinلَيْلَةٍlaylatina NightمُبَارَكَةٍmubārakatinBlessedإِنَّاinnāIndeed Weكُنَّاkunnā[We] areمُنْذِرِينَmundhirīna(ever) warning
  4. 4فِيهَاfīhāThereinيُفْرَقُyuf'raquis made distinctكُلُّkullueveryأَمْرٍamrinaffairحَكِيمٍḥakīminwise
  5. 5أَمْرًاamranA commandمِنْminfromعِنْدِنَاʿindināUsإِنَّاinnāIndeed Weكُنَّاkunnā[We] areمُرْسِلِينَmur'silīna(ever) sending
  6. 6رَحْمَةًraḥmatanAs Mercyمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heهُوَhuwa[He]السَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
  7. 7رَبِّrabbiLordالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between both of themإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouمُوقِنِينَmūqinīnawould be certain
  8. 8لَا(There is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimيُحْيِيyuḥ'yīHe gives lifeوَيُمِيتُwayumītuand causes deathرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordوَرَبُّwarabbuand (the) Lordءَابَائِكُمُābāikumu(of) your fathersالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīnathe former
  9. 9بَلْbalNayهُمْhumtheyفِي(are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtيَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūnaplaying
  10. 10فَارْتَقِبْfa-ir'taqibThen watchيَوْمَyawma(for the) Dayتَأْتِيtatī(when) will bringالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe skyبِدُخَانٍbidukhāninsmokeمُبِينٍmubīninvisible
  11. 11يَغْشَىyaghshāEnvelopingالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleهَذَاhādhāThisعَذَابٌʿadhābun(will be) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  12. 12رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!اكْشِفْik'shifRemoveعَنَّاʿannāfrom usالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentإِنَّاinnāindeed weمُؤْمِنُونَmu'minūna(are) believers
  13. 13أَنَّىannāHow canلَهُمُlahumu(there be) for themالذِّكْرَىl-dhik'rāthe reminderوَقَدْwaqadwhen verilyجَاءَهُمْjāahumhad come to themرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  14. 14ثُمَّthummaThenتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turned awayعَنْهُʿanhufrom himوَقَالُواwaqālūand saidمُعَلَّمٌmuʿallamunOne taughtمَجْنُونٌmajnūnuna mad man
  15. 15إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weكَاشِفُواkāshifū(will) removeالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentقَلِيلًاqalīlana littleإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed youعَائِدُونَʿāidūna(will) return
  16. 16يَوْمَyawma(The) DayنَبْطِشُnabṭishuWe will seizeالْبَطْشَةَl-baṭshata(with) the seizureالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe greatestإِنَّاinnāindeed Weمُنْتَقِمُونَmuntaqimūna(will) take retribution
  17. 17وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyفَتَنَّاfatannāWe triedقَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore themقَوْمَqawma(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunوَجَاءَهُمْwajāahumand came to themرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerكَرِيمٌkarīmunnoble
  18. 18أَنْanThatأَدُّواaddūDeliverإِلَيَّilayyato meعِبَادَʿibāda(the) servantsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amلَكُمْlakumto youرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerأَمِينٌamīnuntrustworthy
  19. 19وَأَنْwa-anAnd thatلَا(do) notتَعْلُواtaʿlūexalt yourselvesعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iءَاتِيكُمْātīkum[I] have come to youبِسُلْطَانٍbisul'ṭāninwith an authorityمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  20. 20وَإِنِّيwa-innīAnd indeed Iعُذْتُʿudh'tu[I] seek refugeبِرَبِّيbirabbīwith my Lordوَرَبِّكُمْwarabbikumand your Lordأَنْanlestتَرْجُمُونِtarjumūniyou stone me
  21. 21وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifلَمْlamnotتُؤْمِنُواtu'minūyou believeلِيmeفَاعْتَزِلُونِfa-iʿ'tazilūnithen leave me alone
  22. 22فَدَعَاfadaʿāSo he calledرَبَّهُrabbahuhis LordأَنَّannaThatهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleمُجْرِمُونَmuj'rimūnacriminals
  23. 23فَأَسْرِfa-asriThen Set outبِعِبَادِيbiʿibādīwith My slavesلَيْلًاlaylan(by) nightإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed youمُتَّبَعُونَmuttabaʿūna(will be) followed
  24. 24وَاتْرُكِwa-ut'rukiAnd leaveالْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe seaرَهْوًاrahwanat restإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyجُنْدٌjundun(are) an armyمُغْرَقُونَmugh'raqūna(to be) drowned
  25. 25كَمْkamHow manyتَرَكُواtarakū(did) they leaveمِنْminofجَنَّاتٍjannātingardensوَعُيُونٍwaʿuyūninand springs
  26. 26وَزُرُوعٍwazurūʿinAnd cornfieldsوَمَقَامٍwamaqāminand placesكَرِيمٍkarīminnoble
  27. 27وَنَعْمَةٍwanaʿmatinAnd pleasant thingsكَانُواkānūthey used (to)فِيهَاfīhāthereinفَاكِهِينَfākihīnatake delight!
  28. 28كَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusوَأَوْرَثْنَاهَاwa-awrathnāhāAnd We made it (an) inherit(ance)قَوْمًاqawman(for) a peopleءَاخَرِينَākharīnaanother
  29. 29فَمَاfamāAnd notبَكَتْbakatweptعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themالسَّمَاءُl-samāuthe heavenوَالْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earthوَمَاwamāand notكَانُواkānūthey wereمُنْظَرِينَmunẓarīnagiven respite
  30. 30وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyنَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe savedبَنِيbanī(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israelمِنَminafromالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentالْمُهِينِl-muhīnithe humiliating
  31. 31مِنْminFromفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heكَانَkānawasعَالِيًاʿāliyanarrogantمِنَminaamongالْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe transgressors
  32. 32وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd certainlyاخْتَرْنَاهُمْikh'tarnāhumWe chose themعَلَىʿalābyعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeعَلَىʿalāoverالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
  33. 33وَءَاتَيْنَاهُمْwaātaynāhumAnd We gave themمِنَminaofالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsمَاthatفِيهِfīhiin itبَلَؤٌاbalāon(was) a trialمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  34. 34إِنَّinnaIndeedهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseلَيَقُولُونَlayaqūlūnasurely they say
  35. 35إِنْinNotهِيَhiyaitإِلَّاillā(is) butمَوْتَتُنَاmawtatunāour deathالْأُولَىl-ūlāthe firstوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuweبِمُنْشَرِينَbimunsharīna(will be) raised again
  36. 36فَأْتُواfatūThen bringبِءَابَائِنَاbiābāināour forefathersإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  37. 37أَهُمْahumAre theyخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterأَمْamorقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleتُبَّعٍtubbaʿin(of) Tubbaوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand thoseمِنْminbefore themقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْahlaknāhumWe destroyed themإِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed, theyكَانُواkānūwereمُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminals
  38. 38وَمَاwamāAnd notخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe createdالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themلَاعِبِينَlāʿibīna(in) play
  39. 39مَاNotخَلَقْنَاهُمَاkhalaqnāhumāWe created both of themإِلَّاillābutبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin [the] truthوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  40. 40إِنَّinnaIndeedيَوْمَyawma(the) Day of Judgmentالْفَصْلِl-faṣli(the) Day of Judgmentمِيقَاتُهُمْmīqātuhum(is) an appointed term for themأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  41. 41يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayلَاnotيُغْنِيyugh'nīwill availمَوْلًىmawlana relationعَنْʿanforمَوْلًىmawlana relationشَيْئًاshayananythingوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنْصَرُونَyunṣarūnawill be helped
  42. 42إِلَّاillāExceptمَنْman(on) whomرَحِمَraḥimaAllah has mercyاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has mercyإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heهُوَhuwa[He]الْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالرَّحِيمُl-raḥīmuthe Most Merciful
  43. 43إِنَّinnaIndeedشَجَرَتَshajarata(the) treeالزَّقُّومِl-zaqūmi(of) Zaqqum
  44. 44طَعَامُṭaʿāmu(Will be) foodالْأَثِيمِl-athīmi(of) the sinner(s)
  45. 45كَالْمُهْلِkal-muh'liLike the murky oilيَغْلِيyaghlīit will boilفِيinالْبُطُونِl-buṭūnithe bellies
  46. 46كَغَلْيِkaghalyiLike boilingالْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmi(of) scalding water
  47. 47خُذُوهُkhudhūhuSeize himفَاعْتِلُوهُfa-iʿ'tilūhuand drag himإِلَىilāintoسَوَاءِsawāi(the) midstالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire
  48. 48ثُمَّthummaThenصُبُّواṣubbūpourفَوْقَfawqaoverرَأْسِهِrasihihis headمِنْminofعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishmentالْحَمِيمِl-ḥamīmi(of) the scalding water
  49. 49ذُقْdhuqTaste!إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youأَنْتَanta[you] (were)الْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe mightyالْكَرِيمُl-karīmuthe noble
  50. 50إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisمَا(is) whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)بِهِbihi[about it]تَمْتَرُونَtamtarūnadoubt
  51. 51إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteousفِي(will be) inمَقَامٍmaqāmina placeأَمِينٍamīninsecure
  52. 52فِيInجَنَّاتٍjannātingardensوَعُيُونٍwaʿuyūninand springs
  53. 53يَلْبَسُونَyalbasūnaWearing garmentsمِنْminofسُنْدُسٍsundusinfine silkوَإِسْتَبْرَقٍwa-is'tabraqinand heavy silkمُتَقَابِلِينَmutaqābilīnafacing each other
  54. 54كَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusوَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْwazawwajnāhumAnd We will marry themبِحُورٍbiḥūrin(to) companions with beautiful eyesعِينٍʿīnin(to) companions with beautiful eyes
  55. 55يَدْعُونَyadʿūnaThey will callفِيهَاfīhāthereinبِكُلِّbikullifor every kindفَاكِهَةٍfākihatin(of) fruitءَامِنِينَāminīnasecure
  56. 56لَاNotيَذُوقُونَyadhūqūnathey will tasteفِيهَاfīhāthereinالْمَوْتَl-mawtathe deathإِلَّاillāexceptالْمَوْتَةَl-mawtatathe deathالْأُولَىl-ūlāthe firstوَوَقَاهُمْwawaqāhumAnd He will protect themعَذَابَʿadhāba(from the) punishmentالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire
  57. 57فَضْلًاfaḍlanA Bountyمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordذَلِكَdhālikaThatهُوَhuwaitالْفَوْزُl-fawzu(will be) the successالْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmuthe great
  58. 58فَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāIndeedيَسَّرْنَاهُyassarnāhuWe have made it easyبِلِسَانِكَbilisānikain your tongueلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnatake heed
  59. 59فَارْتَقِبْfa-ir'taqibSo watchإِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed theyمُرْتَقِبُونَmur'taqibūna(too are) watching
