بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 41 — Fussilat

  2. 2تَنْزِيلٌtanzīlunA revelationمِنَminafromالرَّحْمَنِl-raḥmānithe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful
  3. 3كِتَابٌkitābunA Bookفُصِّلَتْfuṣṣilatare detailedءَايَاتُهُāyātuhuits Versesقُرْءَانًاqur'ānana Quranعَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabicلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnawho know
  4. 4بَشِيرًاbashīranA giver of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرًاwanadhīranand a warnerفَأَعْرَضَfa-aʿraḍabut turn awayأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of themفَهُمْfahumso theyلَا(do) notيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnahear
  5. 5وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayقُلُوبُنَاqulūbunāOur heartsفِي(are) inأَكِنَّةٍakinnatincoveringsمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatتَدْعُونَاtadʿūnāyou call usإِلَيْهِilayhito itوَفِيwafīand inءَاذَانِنَاādhānināour earsوَقْرٌwaqrun(is) deafnessوَمِنْwaminand between usبَيْنِنَاbaynināand between usوَبَيْنِكَwabaynikaand between youحِجَابٌḥijābun(is) a screenفَاعْمَلْfa-iʿ'malSo workإِنَّنَاinnanāindeed, weعَامِلُونَʿāmilūna(are) working
  6. 6قُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنَاanāI amبَشَرٌbasharuna manمِثْلُكُمْmith'lukumlike youيُوحَىyūḥāit is revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meأَنَّمَاannamāthatإِلَهُكُمْilāhukumyour godإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneفَاسْتَقِيمُواfa-is'taqīmūso take a Straight Pathإِلَيْهِilayhito Himوَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُwa-is'taghfirūhuand ask His forgivenessوَوَيْلٌwawaylunAnd woeلِلْمُشْرِكِينَlil'mush'rikīnato the polytheists
  7. 7الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْتُونَyu'tūnagiveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatathe zakahوَهُمْwahumand theyبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterهُمْhumtheyكَافِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
  8. 8إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsلَهُمْlahumfor themأَجْرٌajrun(is) a rewardغَيْرُghayrunever endingمَمْنُونٍmamnūninnever ending
  9. 9قُلْqulSayأَئِنَّكُمْa-innakumDo you indeedلَتَكْفُرُونَlatakfurūna[surely] disbelieveبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīin the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthفِيinيَوْمَيْنِyawmaynitwo periodsوَتَجْعَلُونَwatajʿalūnaand you set upلَهُlahuwith HimأَنْدَادًاandādanrivalsذَلِكَdhālikaThatرَبُّrabbu(is the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  10. 10وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaAnd He placedفِيهَاfīhāthereinرَوَاسِيَrawāsiyafirmly-set mountainsمِنْminabove itفَوْقِهَاfawqihāabove itوَبَارَكَwabārakaand He blessedفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَقَدَّرَwaqaddaraand determinedفِيهَاfīhāthereinأَقْوَاتَهَاaqwātahāits sustenanceفِيinأَرْبَعَةِarbaʿatifourأَيَّامٍayyāminperiodsسَوَاءًsawāanequalلِلسَّائِلِينَlilssāilīnafor those who ask
  11. 11ثُمَّthummaThenاسْتَوَىis'tawāHe directed (Himself)إِلَىilātowardsالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenوَهِيَwahiyawhile it (was)دُخَانٌdukhānunsmokeفَقَالَfaqālaand He saidلَهَاlahāto itوَلِلْأَرْضِwalil'arḍiand to the earthائْتِيَاi'tiyāCome both of youطَوْعًاṭawʿanwillinglyأَوْaworكَرْهًاkarhanunwillinglyقَالَتَاqālatāThey both saidأَتَيْنَاataynāWe comeطَائِعِينَṭāiʿīnawillingly
  12. 12فَقَضَاهُنَّfaqaḍāhunnaThen He completed themسَبْعَsabʿa(as) sevenسَمَاوَاتٍsamāwātinheavensفِيinيَوْمَيْنِyawmaynitwo periodsوَأَوْحَىwa-awḥāand He revealedفِيinكُلِّkullieachسَمَاءٍsamāinheavenأَمْرَهَاamrahāits affairوَزَيَّنَّاwazayyannāAnd We adornedالسَّمَاءَl-samāathe heavenالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe nearestبِمَصَابِيحَbimaṣābīḥawith lampsوَحِفْظًاwaḥif'ẓanand (to) guardذَلِكَdhālikaThatتَقْدِيرُtaqdīru(is the) Decreeالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mightyالْعَلِيمِl-ʿalīmithe All-Knower
  13. 13فَإِنْfa-inBut ifأَعْرَضُواaʿraḍūthey turn awayفَقُلْfaqulthen sayأَنْذَرْتُكُمْandhartukumI have warned youصَاعِقَةًṣāʿiqatan(of) a thunderboltمِثْلَmith'lalikeصَاعِقَةِṣāʿiqati(the) thunderboltعَادٍʿādin(of) Aadوَثَمُودَwathamūdaand Thamud
  14. 14إِذْidhWhenجَاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالرُّسُلُl-rusuluthe Messengersمِنْminfrom before themبَيْنِbaynifrom before themأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimfrom before themوَمِنْwaminand fromخَلْفِهِمْkhalfihimbehind themأَلَّاallā(saying) Do notتَعْبُدُواtaʿbudūworshipإِلَّاillābutاللَّهَl-lahaAllahقَالُواqālūThey saidلَوْlawIfشَاءَshāa(had) willedرَبُّنَاrabbunāour Lordلَأَنْزَلَla-anzalasurely, He (would have) sent downمَلَائِكَةًmalāikatanAngelsفَإِنَّاfa-innāSo indeed, weبِمَاbimāin whatأُرْسِلْتُمْur'sil'tumyou have been sentبِهِbihiwithكَافِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
  15. 15فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forعَادٌʿādunAadفَاسْتَكْبَرُواfa-is'takbarūthey were arrogantفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi[the] rightوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidمَنْmanWhoأَشَدُّashaddu(is) mightierمِنَّاminnāthan usقُوَّةًquwwatan(in) strengthأَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahumcreated themهُوَhuwaHeأَشَدُّashaddu(is) Mightierمِنْهُمْmin'humthan themقُوَّةًquwwatan(in) strengthوَكَانُواwakānūBut they used (to)بِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Signsيَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnadeny
  16. 16فَأَرْسَلْنَاfa-arsalnāSo We sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themرِيحًاrīḥana windصَرْصَرًاṣarṣaranfuriousفِيinأَيَّامٍayyāmin(the) daysنَحِسَاتٍnaḥisātin(of) misfortuneلِنُذِيقَهُمْlinudhīqahumthat We may make them tasteعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentالْخِزْيِl-khiz'yi(of) disgraceفِيinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَلَعَذَابُwalaʿadhābuAnd surely, (the) punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterأَخْزَىakhzā(is) more disgracingوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاwill not be helpedيُنْصَرُونَyunṣarūnawill not be helped
  17. 17وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forثَمُودُthamūduThamudفَهَدَيْنَاهُمْfahadaynāhumWe guided themفَاسْتَحَبُّواfa-is'taḥabbūbut they preferredالْعَمَىl-ʿamā[the] blindnessعَلَىʿalāoverالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceفَأَخَذَتْهُمْfa-akhadhathumso seized themصَاعِقَةُṣāʿiqatua thunderboltالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi(of) the punishmentالْهُونِl-hūnihumiliatingبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
  18. 18وَنَجَّيْنَاwanajjaynāAnd We savedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَكَانُواwakānūand used (to)يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)
  19. 19وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Dayيُحْشَرُyuḥ'sharuwill be gatheredأَعْدَاءُaʿdāu(the) enemiesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِلَىilātoالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireفَهُمْfahumthen theyيُوزَعُونَyūzaʿūnawill be assembled in rows
  20. 20حَتَّىḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenمَاwhenجَاءُوهَاjāūhāthey come to itشَهِدَshahida(will) testifyعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themسَمْعُهُمْsamʿuhumtheir hearingوَأَبْصَارُهُمْwa-abṣāruhumand their sightوَجُلُودُهُمْwajulūduhumand their skinsبِمَاbimā(as) to whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  21. 21وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they will sayلِجُلُودِهِمْlijulūdihimto their skinsلِمَlimaWhy doشَهِدْتُمْshahidttumyou testifyعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst usقَالُواqālūThey will sayأَنْطَقَنَاanṭaqanāAllah made us speakاللَّهُl-lahuAllah made us speakالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoأَنْطَقَanṭaqamakes speakكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingوَهُوَwahuwaand Heخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstمَرَّةٍmarratintimeوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
  22. 22وَمَاwamāAnd notكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereتَسْتَتِرُونَtastatirūnacovering yourselvesأَنْanlestيَشْهَدَyashhadatestifyعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumagainst youسَمْعُكُمْsamʿukumyour hearingوَلَاwalāand notأَبْصَارُكُمْabṣārukumyour sightوَلَاwalāand notجُلُودُكُمْjulūdukumyour skinsوَلَكِنْwalākinbutظَنَنْتُمْẓanantumyou assumedأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowكَثِيرًاkathīranmuchمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  23. 23وَذَلِكُمْwadhālikumAnd thatظَنُّكُمُẓannukumu(was) your assumptionالَّذِيalladhīwhichظَنَنْتُمْẓanantumyou assumedبِرَبِّكُمْbirabbikumabout your LordأَرْدَاكُمْardākumIt has ruined youفَأَصْبَحْتُمْfa-aṣbaḥtumand you have becomeمِنَminaofالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
  24. 24فَإِنْfa-inThen ifيَصْبِرُواyaṣbirūthey endureفَالنَّارُfal-nāruthe Fireمَثْوًىmathwan(is) an abodeلَهُمْlahumfor themوَإِنْwa-inand ifيَسْتَعْتِبُواyastaʿtibūthey ask for favorفَمَاfamāthen notهُمْhumtheyمِنَmina(will be) ofالْمُعْتَبِينَl-muʿ'tabīnathose who receive favor
  25. 25وَقَيَّضْنَاwaqayyaḍnāAnd We have destinedلَهُمْlahumfor themقُرَنَاءَquranāacompanionsفَزَيَّنُواfazayyanū(who) made fair-seemingلَهُمْlahumto themمَاwhatبَيْنَbayna(was) before themأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhim(was) before themوَمَاwamāand whatخَلْفَهُمْkhalfahum(was) behind themوَحَقَّwaḥaqqaand (is) justifiedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuagainst themالْقَوْلُl-qawluthe Wordفِيamongأُمَمٍumaminnationsقَدْqad(that have) passed awayخَلَتْkhalat(that have) passed awayمِنْminbefore themقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinithe jinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand the menإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُواkānūwereخَاسِرِينَkhāsirīnalosers
  26. 26وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveلَا(Do) notتَسْمَعُواtasmaʿūlistenلِهَذَاlihādhāto thisالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'āniQuranوَالْغَوْاwal-ghawand make noiseفِيهِfīhithereinلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumthat you mayتَغْلِبُونَtaghlibūnaovercome
  27. 27فَلَنُذِيقَنَّfalanudhīqannaBut surely We will cause to tasteالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereوَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْwalanajziyannahumand surely We will recompense themأَسْوَأَaswa-a(the) worstالَّذِيalladhī(of) whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  28. 28ذَلِكَdhālikaThatجَزَاءُjazāu(is the) recompenseأَعْدَاءِaʿdāi(of the) enemiesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahالنَّارُl-nāruthe Fireلَهُمْlahumfor themفِيهَاfīhāthereinدَارُdāru(is the) homeالْخُلْدِl-khul'di(of) the eternityجَزَاءًjazāan(as) recompenseبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)بِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināof Our Versesيَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnareject
  29. 29وَقَالَwaqālaAnd (will) sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!أَرِنَاarināShow usالَّذَيْنِalladhaynithose whoأَضَلَّانَاaḍallānāmisled usمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinithe jinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand the menنَجْعَلْهُمَاnajʿalhumā(so) we may put themتَحْتَtaḥtaunderأَقْدَامِنَاaqdāmināour feetلِيَكُونَاliyakūnāthat they beمِنَminaofالْأَسْفَلِينَl-asfalīnathe lowest
  30. 30إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsayرَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lordاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahثُمَّthummathenاسْتَقَامُواis'taqāmūstand firmتَتَنَزَّلُtatanazzaluwill descendعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe AngelsأَلَّاallāDo notتَخَافُواtakhāfūfearوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَحْزَنُواtaḥzanūgrieveوَأَبْشِرُواwa-abshirūbut receive the glad tidingsبِالْجَنَّةِbil-janatiof Paradiseالَّتِيallatīwhichكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnapromised
  31. 31نَحْنُnaḥnuWeأَوْلِيَاؤُكُمْawliyāukum(are) your protectorsفِيinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَفِيwafīand inالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe HereafterوَلَكُمْwalakumAnd for youفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَاwhateverتَشْتَهِيtashtahīdesireأَنْفُسُكُمْanfusukumyour soulsوَلَكُمْwalakumand for youفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَاwhatتَدَّعُونَtaddaʿūnayou ask
  32. 32نُزُلًاnuzulanA hospitable giftمِنْminfromغَفُورٍghafūrin(the) Oft-Forgivingرَحِيمٍraḥīmin(the) Most Merciful
  33. 33وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) betterقَوْلًاqawlan(in) speechمِمَّنْmimmanthan (one) whoدَعَاdaʿāinvitesإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand doesصَالِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)وَقَالَwaqālaand saysإِنَّنِيinnanīIndeed I amمِنَminaofالْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnathose who submit
  34. 34وَلَاwalāAnd notتَسْتَوِيtastawīare equalالْحَسَنَةُl-ḥasanatuthe good (deed)وَلَاwalāandالسَّيِّئَةُl-sayi-atuthe evil (deed)ادْفَعْid'faʿRepelبِالَّتِيbi-allatīby (that) whichهِيَhiya[it]أَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) betterفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen behold!الَّذِيalladhīOne whoبَيْنَكَbaynakabetween youوَبَيْنَهُwabaynahuand between himعَدَاوَةٌʿadāwatun(was) enmityكَأَنَّهُka-annahuas if heوَلِيٌّwaliyyun(was) a friendحَمِيمٌḥamīmunintimate
  35. 35وَمَاwamāAnd notيُلَقَّاهَاyulaqqāhāit is grantedإِلَّاillāexceptالَّذِينَalladhīna(to) those whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientوَمَاwamāand notيُلَقَّاهَاyulaqqāhāit is grantedإِلَّاillāexceptذُوdhū(to the) ownerحَظٍّḥaẓẓin(of) fortuneعَظِيمٍʿaẓīmingreat
  36. 36وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd ifيَنْزَغَنَّكَyanzaghannakawhisper comes to youمِنَminafromالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭānithe Shaitanنَزْغٌnazghunan evil suggestionفَاسْتَعِذْfa-is'taʿidhthen seek refugeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin AllahإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heهُوَhuwa[He]السَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
  37. 37وَمِنْwaminAnd ofءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Signsاللَّيْلُal-laylu(are) the nightوَالنَّهَارُwal-nahāruand the dayوَالشَّمْسُwal-shamsuand the sunوَالْقَمَرُwal-qamaruand the moonلَا(Do) notتَسْجُدُواtasjudūprostrateلِلشَّمْسِlilshamsito the sunوَلَاwalāand notلِلْقَمَرِlil'qamarito the moonوَاسْجُدُواwa-us'judūbut prostrateلِلَّهِlillahito Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَهُنَّkhalaqahunnacreated themإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouإِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim aloneتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnaworship
  38. 38فَإِنِfa-iniBut ifاسْتَكْبَرُواis'takbarūthey are arrogantفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnathen those whoعِنْدَʿinda(are) nearرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordيُسَبِّحُونَyusabbiḥūnaglorifyلَهُlahuHimبِاللَّيْلِbi-al-layliby nightوَالنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand dayوَهُمْwahumAnd theyلَا(do) notيَسْءَمُونَyasamūnatire
  39. 39وَمِنْwaminAnd amongءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Signsأَنَّكَannaka(is) that youتَرَىtarāseeالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthخَاشِعَةًkhāshiʿatanbarrenفَإِذَاfa-idhābut whenأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe send downعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itالْمَاءَl-māawaterاهْتَزَّتْih'tazzatit is stirred (to life)وَرَبَتْwarabatand growsإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoأَحْيَاهَاaḥyāhāgives it lifeلَمُحْيِيlamuḥ'yī(is) surely the Giver of lifeالْمَوْتَىl-mawtā(to) the deadإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  40. 40إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُلْحِدُونَyul'ḥidūnadistortفِي[in]ءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Versesلَا(are) notيَخْفَوْنَyakhfawnahiddenعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāfrom UsأَفَمَنْafamanSo is (he) whoيُلْقَىyul'qāis castفِيinالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterأَمْamorمَنْman(he) whoيَأْتِيyatīcomesءَامِنًاāminansecureيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) Resurrectionاعْمَلُواiʿ'malūDoمَاwhatشِئْتُمْshi'tumyou willإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
  41. 41إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveبِالذِّكْرِbil-dhik'riin the Reminderلَمَّاlammāwhenجَاءَهُمْjāahumit comes to themوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed itلَكِتَابٌlakitābun(is) surely a Bookعَزِيزٌʿazīzunmighty
  42. 42لَاNotيَأْتِيهِyatīhicomes to itالْبَاطِلُl-bāṭiluthe falsehoodمِنْminfromبَيْنِbaynibefore itيَدَيْهِyadayhibefore itوَلَاwalāand notمِنْminfromخَلْفِهِkhalfihibehind itتَنْزِيلٌtanzīlunA Revelationمِنْminfromحَكِيمٍḥakīmin(the) All-Wiseحَمِيدٍḥamīdin(the) Praiseworthy
  43. 43مَاNotيُقَالُyuqāluis saidلَكَlakato youإِلَّاillāexceptمَاwhatقَدْqadwas saidقِيلَqīlawas saidلِلرُّسُلِlilrrusulito the Messengersمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَذُوladhū(is) Possessorمَغْفِرَةٍmaghfiratin(of) forgivenessوَذُوwadhūand Possessorعِقَابٍʿiqābin(of) penaltyأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
  44. 44وَلَوْwalawAnd ifجَعَلْنَاهُjaʿalnāhuWe (had) made itقُرْءَانًاqur'ānana Quranأَعْجَمِيًّاaʿjamiyyan(in) a foreign (language)لَقَالُواlaqālūthey (would have) saidلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notفُصِّلَتْfuṣṣilatare explained in detailءَايَاتُهُāyātuhuits versesءَأَعْجَمِيٌّāʿ'jamiyyun(Is it) a foreign (language)وَعَرَبِيٌّwaʿarabiyyunand an ArabقُلْqulSayهُوَhuwaIt (is)لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveهُدًىhudana guidanceوَشِفَاءٌwashifāonand a healingوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveفِيinءَاذَانِهِمْādhānihimtheir earsوَقْرٌwaqrun(is) deafnessوَهُوَwahuwaand itعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim(is) for themعَمًىʿamanblindnessأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseيُنَادَوْنَyunādawnaare being calledمِنْminfromمَكَانٍmakānina placeبَعِيدٍbaʿīdinfar
  45. 45وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookفَاخْتُلِفَfa-ukh'tulifabut disputes aroseفِيهِfīhithereinوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd had it not beenكَلِمَةٌkalimatun(for) a wordسَبَقَتْsabaqatthat precededمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَقُضِيَlaquḍiyasurely would have been settledبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themوَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumBut indeed theyلَفِيlafīsurely (are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِنْهُmin'huabout itمُرِيبٍmurībindisquieting
  46. 46مَنْmanWhoeverعَمِلَʿamiladoesصَالِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous deedsفَلِنَفْسِهِfalinafsihithen it is for his soulوَمَنْwamanand whoeverأَسَاءَasāadoes evilفَعَلَيْهَاfaʿalayhāthen it is against itوَمَاwamāAnd notرَبُّكَrabbuka(is) your Lordبِظَلَّامٍbiẓallāminunjustلِلْعَبِيدِlil'ʿabīdito His slaves
  47. 47إِلَيْهِilayhiTo Himيُرَدُّyuradduis referredعِلْمُʿil'mu(the) knowledgeالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati(of) the HourوَمَاwamāAnd notتَخْرُجُtakhrujucomes outمِنْminanyثَمَرَاتٍthamarātinfruitsمِنْminfromأَكْمَامِهَاakmāmihātheir coveringsوَمَاwamāand notتَحْمِلُtaḥmilubearsمِنْminanyأُنْثَىunthāfemaleوَلَاwalāand notتَضَعُtaḍaʿugives birthإِلَّاillāexceptبِعِلْمِهِbiʿil'mihiwith His knowledgeوَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْyunādīhimHe will call themأَيْنَaynaWhere (are)شُرَكَاءِيshurakāīMy partnersقَالُواqālūThey will sayءَاذَنَّاكَādhannākaWe announce (to) Youمَاnotمِنَّاminnāamong usمِنْminanyشَهِيدٍshahīdinwitness
  48. 48وَضَلَّwaḍallaAnd lostعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themمَاwhatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَدْعُونَyadʿūnainvokingمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَظَنُّواwaẓannūand they (will) be certainمَا(that) notلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْminanyمَحِيصٍmaḥīṣinplace of escape
  49. 49لَا(Does) notيَسْءَمُyasamuget tiredالْإِنْسَانُl-insānumanمِنْminofدُعَاءِduʿāiprayingالْخَيْرِl-khayri(for) the goodوَإِنْwa-inbut ifمَسَّهُmassahutouches himالشَّرُّl-sharuthe evilفَيَئُوسٌfayaūsunthen he gives up hopeقَنُوطٌqanūṭun(and) despairs
  50. 50وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd verily, ifأَذَقْنَاهُadhaqnāhuWe let him tasteرَحْمَةًraḥmatanmercyمِنَّاminnāfrom Usمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterضَرَّاءَḍarrāaan adversityمَسَّتْهُmassathu(has) touched himلَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannahe will surely sayهَذَاhādhāThis (is)لِي(due) to meوَمَاwamāand notأَظُنُّaẓunnuI thinkالسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hourقَائِمَةًqāimatan(will be) establishedوَلَئِنْwala-inand ifرُجِعْتُrujiʿ'tuI am returnedإِلَىilātoرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordإِنَّinnaindeedلِيfor meعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith Himلَلْحُسْنَىlalḥus'nā(will be) the bestفَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّfalanunabbi-annaBut We will surely informالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبِمَاbimāabout whatعَمِلُواʿamilūthey didوَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْwalanudhīqannahumand We will surely make them tasteمِنْminofعَذَابٍʿadhābina punishmentغَلِيظٍghalīẓinsevere
  51. 51وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenأَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnāWe bestow favorعَلَىʿalāuponالْإِنْسَانِl-insānimanأَعْرَضَaʿraḍahe turns awayوَنَءَاwanaāand distances himselfبِجَانِبِهِbijānibihiand distances himselfوَإِذَاwa-idhābut whenمَسَّهُmassahutouches himالشَّرُّl-sharuthe evilفَذُوfadhūthen (he is) fullدُعَاءٍduʿāin(of) supplicationعَرِيضٍʿarīḍinlengthy
  52. 52قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumYou seeإِنْinifكَانَkānait isمِنْminfromعِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahثُمَّthummathenكَفَرْتُمْkafartumyou disbelieveبِهِbihiin itمَنْmanwhoأَضَلُّaḍallu(is) more astrayمِمَّنْmimmanthan (one) whoهُوَhuwaheفِي(is) inشِقَاقٍshiqāqinoppositionبَعِيدٍbaʿīdinfar
  53. 53سَنُرِيهِمْsanurīhimSoon We will show themءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Signsفِيinالْءَافَاقِl-āfāqithe horizonsوَفِيwafīand inأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَتَبَيَّنَyatabayyanabecomes clearلَهُمْlahumto themأَنَّهُannahuthat itالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthأَوَلَمْawalamIs (it) notيَكْفِyakfisufficientبِرَبِّكَbirabbikaconcerning your Lordأَنَّهُannahuthat Heعَلَىʿalā(is) overكُلِّkulliallشَيْءٍshayinthingsشَهِيدٌshahīduna Witness
  54. 54أَلَاalāUnquestionablyإِنَّهُمْinnahumtheyفِي(are) inمِرْيَةٍmir'yatindoubtمِنْminaboutلِقَاءِliqāi(the) meetingرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(with) their LordأَلَاalāUnquestionablyإِنَّهُinnahuindeed Heبِكُلِّbikulli(is) of allشَيْءٍshayinthingsمُحِيطٌmuḥīṭunencompassing
