بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 38 — Saad

  1. 1صٓsadSaadوَالْقُرْءَانِwal-qur'āniBy the Quranذِيdhīfull (of) reminderالذِّكْرِl-dhik'rifull (of) reminder
  2. 2بَلِbaliNayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveفِي(are) inعِزَّةٍʿizzatinself-gloryوَشِقَاقٍwashiqāqinand opposition
  3. 3كَمْkamHow manyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyedمِنْminbefore themقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themمِنْminofقَرْنٍqarnina generationفَنَادَوْاfanādawthen they called outوَلَاتَwalātawhen there (was) no longerحِينَḥīnatimeمَنَاصٍmanāṣin(for) escape
  4. 4وَعَجِبُواwaʿajibūAnd they wonderأَنْanthatجَاءَهُمْjāahumhas come to themمُنْذِرٌmundhiruna warnerمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom among themselvesوَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelieversهَذَاhādhāThisسَاحِرٌsāḥirun(is) a magicianكَذَّابٌkadhābuna liar
  5. 5أَجَعَلَajaʿalaHas he madeالْءَالِهَةَl-ālihatathe godsإِلَهًاilāhan(into) one godوَاحِدًاwāḥidan(into) one godإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَشَيْءٌlashayon(is) certainly a thingعُجَابٌʿujābuncurious
  6. 6وَانْطَلَقَwa-inṭalaqaAnd went forthالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themأَنِanithatامْشُواim'shūContinueوَاصْبِرُواwa-iṣ'birūand be patientعَلَىʿalāoverءَالِهَتِكُمْālihatikumyour godsإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَشَيْءٌlashayon(is) certainly a thingيُرَادُyurāduintended
  7. 7مَاNotسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāwe heardبِهَذَاbihādhāof thisفِيinالْمِلَّةِl-milatithe religionالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe lastإِنْinNotهَذَاhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillābutاخْتِلَاقٌikh'tilāquna fabrication
  8. 8أَءُنزِلَa-unzilaHas been revealedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himالذِّكْرُl-dhik'ruthe Messageمِنْminfromبَيْنِنَاbaynināamong usبَلْbalNayهُمْhumTheyفِي(are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِنْminaboutذِكْرِيdhik'rīMy MessageبَلْbalNayلَمَّاlammānotيَذُوقُواyadhūqūthey have tastedعَذَابِʿadhābiMy punishment
  9. 9أَمْamOrعِنْدَهُمْʿindahumhave theyخَزَائِنُkhazāinu(the) treasuresرَحْمَةِraḥmati(of the) Mercyرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mightyالْوَهَّابِl-wahābithe Bestower
  10. 10أَمْamOrلَهُمْlahumfor themمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themفَلْيَرْتَقُواfalyartaqūThen let them ascendفِيbyالْأَسْبَابِl-asbābithe means
  11. 11جُنْدٌjundunSoldiersمَاthereهُنَالِكَhunālikathereمَهْزُومٌmahzūmun(they will be) defeatedمِنَminaamongالْأَحْزَابِl-aḥzābithe companies
  12. 12كَذَّبَتْkadhabatDeniedقَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore themقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleنُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuhوَعَادٌwaʿādunand Aadوَفِرْعَوْنُwafir'ʿawnuand Firaunذُوdhū(the) ownerالْأَوْتَادِl-awtādi(of) the stakes
  13. 13وَثَمُودُwathamūduAnd Thamudوَقَوْمُwaqawmuand (the) peopleلُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lutوَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuand (the) companionsلْءَيْكَةِal'aykati(of) the woodأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالْأَحْزَابُl-aḥzābu(were) the companies
  14. 14إِنْinNotكُلٌّkullunall (of them)إِلَّاillābutكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedالرُّسُلَl-rusulathe Messengersفَحَقَّfaḥaqqaso was justعِقَابِʿiqābiMy penalty
  15. 15وَمَاwamāAnd notيَنْظُرُyanẓuruawaitهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseإِلَّاillābutصَيْحَةًṣayḥatana shoutوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatanoneمَاnotلَهَاlahāfor itمِنْminanyفَوَاقٍfawāqindelay
  16. 16وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!عَجِّلْʿajjilHastenلَنَاlanāfor usقِطَّنَاqiṭṭanāour shareقَبْلَqablabeforeيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(of) the Account
  17. 17اصْبِرْiṣ'birBe patientعَلَىʿalāoverمَاwhatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayوَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurand rememberعَبْدَنَاʿabdanāOur slaveدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodذَاdhāthe possessor of strengthالْأَيْدِl-aydithe possessor of strengthإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, he (was)أَوَّابٌawwābunrepeatedly turning
  18. 18إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weسَخَّرْنَاsakharnāsubjectedالْجِبَالَl-jibālathe mountainsمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himيُسَبِّحْنَyusabbiḥ'naglorifyingبِالْعَشِيِّbil-ʿashiyiin the eveningوَالْإِشْرَاقِwal-ish'rāqiand [the] sunrise
  19. 19وَالطَّيْرَwal-ṭayraAnd the birdsمَحْشُورَةًmaḥshūratanassembledكُلٌّkullunallلَهُlahuwith himأَوَّابٌawwābunrepeatedly turning
  20. 20وَشَدَدْنَاwashadadnāAnd We strengthenedمُلْكَهُmul'kahuhis kingdomوَءَاتَيْنَاهُwaātaynāhuand We gave himالْحِكْمَةَl-ḥik'mata[the] wisdomوَفَصْلَwafaṣlaand decisiveالْخِطَابِl-khiṭābispeech
  21. 21وَهَلْwahalAnd has (there)أَتَىكَatākacome to youنَبَؤُاnaba-u(the) newsالْخَصْمِl-khaṣmi(of) the litigantsإِذْidhwhenتَسَوَّرُواtasawwarūthey climbed over the wallالْمِحْرَابَl-miḥ'rāba(of) the chamber
  22. 22إِذْidhWhenدَخَلُواdakhalūthey enteredعَلَىʿalāuponدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodفَفَزِعَfafaziʿaand he was afraidمِنْهُمْmin'humof themقَالُواqālūthey saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearخَصْمَانِkhaṣmāni(We are) two litigantsبَغَىbaghāhas wrongedبَعْضُنَاbaʿḍunāone of usعَلَىʿalātoبَعْضٍbaʿḍinanotherفَاحْكُمْfa-uḥ'kumso judgeبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُشْطِطْtush'ṭiṭbe unjustوَاهْدِنَاwa-ih'dināand guide usإِلَىilātoسَوَاءِsawāian evenالصِّرَاطِl-ṣirāṭi[the] path
  23. 23إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisأَخِيakhī(is) my brotherلَهُlahuhe hasتِسْعٌtis'ʿunninety-nineوَتِسْعُونَwatis'ʿūnaninety-nineنَعْجَةًnaʿjatanewe(s)وَلِيَwaliyawhile I haveنَعْجَةٌnaʿjatuneweوَاحِدَةٌwāḥidatunoneفَقَالَfaqālaso he saidأَكْفِلْنِيهَاakfil'nīhāEntrust her to meوَعَزَّنِيwaʿazzanīand he overpowered meفِيinالْخِطَابِl-khiṭābi[the] speech
  24. 24قَالَqālaHe saidلَقَدْlaqadCertainlyظَلَمَكَẓalamakahe has wronged youبِسُؤَالِbisuāliby demandingنَعْجَتِكَnaʿjatikayour eweإِلَىilātoنِعَاجِهِniʿājihihis ewesوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنَminaofالْخُلَطَاءِl-khulaṭāithe partnersلَيَبْغِيlayabghīcertainly oppressبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumoneعَلَىʿalā[on]بَعْضٍbaʿḍinanotherإِلَّاillāexceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsوَقَلِيلٌwaqalīlunand fewمَا(are) theyهُمْhum(are) theyوَظَنَّwaẓannaAnd became certainدَاوُدُdāwūduDawoodأَنَّمَاannamāthatفَتَنَّاهُfatannāhuWe (had) tried himفَاسْتَغْفَرَfa-is'taghfaraand he asked forgivenessرَبَّهُrabbahu(of) his Lordوَخَرَّwakharraand fell downرَاكِعًاrākiʿanbowingوَأَنَابَwa-anābaand turned in repentance
  25. 25فَغَفَرْنَاfaghafarnāSo We forgaveلَهُlahufor himذَلِكَdhālikathatوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَهُlahufor himعِنْدَنَاʿindanāwith Usلَزُلْفَىlazul'fāsurely is a near accessوَحُسْنَwaḥus'naand a goodمَءَابٍmaābinplace of return
  26. 26يَادَاوُدُyādāwūduO Dawood!إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weجَعَلْنَاكَjaʿalnāka[We] have made youخَلِيفَةًkhalīfatana vicegerentفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَاحْكُمْfa-uḥ'kumso judgeبَيْنَbaynabetweenالنَّاسِl-nāsi[the] menبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعِtattabiʿifollowالْهَوَىl-hawāthe desireفَيُضِلَّكَfayuḍillakafor it will lead you strayعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَضِلُّونَyaḍillūnago astrayعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentشَدِيدٌshadīdunsevereبِمَاbimābecauseنَسُواnasūthey forgotيَوْمَyawma(the) Dayالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(of) Account
  27. 27وَمَاwamāAnd notخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe createdالسَّمَاءَl-samāathe heavenوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themبَاطِلًاbāṭilanwithout purposeذَلِكَdhālikaThatظَنُّẓannu(is the) assumptionالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveفَوَيْلٌfawaylunSo woeلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato thoseكَفَرُواkafarūwho disbelieveمِنَminafromالنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
  28. 28أَمْamOrنَجْعَلُnajʿalushould We treatالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsكَالْمُفْسِدِينَkal-muf'sidīnalike those who spread corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأَمْamOrنَجْعَلُnajʿalushould We treatالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe piousكَالْفُجَّارِkal-fujārilike the wicked
  29. 29كِتَابٌkitābun(This is) a BookأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed itإِلَيْكَilaykato youمُبَارَكٌmubārakunblessedلِيَدَّبَّرُواliyaddabbarūthat they may ponderءَايَاتِهِāyātihi(over) its Versesوَلِيَتَذَكَّرَwaliyatadhakkaraand may be remindedأُولُواulūthose of understandingالْأَلْبَابِl-albābithose of understanding
  30. 30وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We gaveلِدَاوُدَlidāwūdato DawoodسُلَيْمَانَsulaymānaSulaimanنِعْمَniʿ'maan excellentالْعَبْدُl-ʿabduslaveإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heأَوَّابٌawwābunwas one who repeatedly turned
  31. 31إِذْidhWhenعُرِضَʿuriḍawere displayedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himبِالْعَشِيِّbil-ʿashiyiin the afternoonالصَّافِنَاتُl-ṣāfinātuexcellent bred steedsالْجِيَادُl-jiyāduexcellent bred steeds
  32. 32فَقَالَfaqālaAnd he saidإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَحْبَبْتُaḥbabtu[I] preferredحُبَّḥubba(the) loveالْخَيْرِl-khayri(of) the goodعَنْʿanforذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembranceرَبِّيrabbī(of) my LordحَتَّىḥattāUntilتَوَارَتْtawāratthey were hiddenبِالْحِجَابِbil-ḥijābiin the veil
  33. 33رُدُّوهَاruddūhāReturn themعَلَيَّʿalayyato meفَطَفِقَfaṭafiqaThen he beganمَسْحًاmasḥanto pass (his hand)بِالسُّوقِbil-sūqiover the legsوَالْأَعْنَاقِwal-aʿnāqiand the necks
  34. 34وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyفَتَنَّاfatannāWe triedسُلَيْمَانَsulaymānaSulaimanوَأَلْقَيْنَاwa-alqaynāand We placedعَلَىʿalāonكُرْسِيِّهِkur'siyyihihis throneجَسَدًاjasadana bodyثُمَّthummathenأَنَابَanābahe turned
  35. 35قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiO my Lordاغْفِرْigh'firForgiveلِيmeوَهَبْwahaband grantلِيmeمُلْكًاmul'kana kingdomلَاnotيَنْبَغِيyanbaghī(will) belongلِأَحَدٍli-aḥadinto anyoneمِنْminafter meبَعْدِيbaʿdīafter meإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, Youأَنْتَanta[You]الْوَهَّابُl-wahābu(are) the Bestower
  36. 36فَسَخَّرْنَاfasakharnāThen We subjectedلَهُlahuto himالرِّيحَl-rīḥathe windتَجْرِيtajrīto flowبِأَمْرِهِbi-amrihiby his commandرُخَاءًrukhāangentlyحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverأَصَابَaṣābahe directed
  37. 37وَالشَّيَاطِينَwal-shayāṭīnaAnd the devilsكُلَّkullaeveryبَنَّاءٍbannāinbuilderوَغَوَّاصٍwaghawwāṣinand diver
  38. 38وَءَاخَرِينَwaākharīnaAnd othersمُقَرَّنِينَmuqarranīnaboundفِيinالْأَصْفَادِl-aṣfādichains
  39. 39هَذَاhādhāThisعَطَاؤُنَاʿaṭāunā(is) Our giftفَامْنُنْfa-um'nunso grantأَوْaworأَمْسِكْamsikwithholdبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحِسَابٍḥisābinaccount
  40. 40وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَهُlahufor himعِنْدَنَاʿindanāwith Usلَزُلْفَىlazul'fāsurely is a near accessوَحُسْنَwaḥus'naand a goodمَءَابٍmaābinplace of return
  41. 41وَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurAnd rememberعَبْدَنَاʿabdanāOur slaveأَيُّوبَayyūbaAyyubإِذْidhwhenنَادَىnādāhe calledرَبَّهُrabbahuhis LordأَنِّيannīThat [I]مَسَّنِيَmassaniyahas touched meالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuShaitaanبِنُصْبٍbinuṣ'binwith distressوَعَذَابٍwaʿadhābinand suffering
  42. 42ارْكُضْur'kuḍStrikeبِرِجْلِكَbirij'likawith your footهَذَاhādhāThisمُغْتَسَلٌmugh'tasalun(is a spring) of water to batheبَارِدٌbāriduncoolوَشَرَابٌwasharābunand a drink
  43. 43وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We grantedلَهُlahu[to] himأَهْلَهُahlahuhis familyوَمِثْلَهُمْwamith'lahumand a like of themمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themرَحْمَةًraḥmatana Mercyمِنَّاminnāfrom Usوَذِكْرَىwadhik'rāand a Reminderلِأُولِيli-ulīfor those of understandingالْأَلْبَابِl-albābifor those of understanding
  44. 44وَخُذْwakhudhAnd takeبِيَدِكَbiyadikain your handضِغْثًاḍigh'thana bunchفَاضْرِبْfa-iḍ'riband strikeبِهِbihiwith itوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَحْنَثْtaḥnathbreak (your) oathإِنَّاinnāIndeed Weوَجَدْنَاهُwajadnāhu[We] found himصَابِرًاṣābiranpatientنِعْمَniʿ'maan excellentالْعَبْدُl-ʿabduslaveإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heأَوَّابٌawwābunrepeatedly turned
  45. 45وَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurAnd rememberعِبَادَنَاʿibādanāOur slavesإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَإِسْحَاقَwa-is'ḥāqaand Ishaqوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Ayyub,أُولِيulīpossessorsالْأَيْدِيl-aydī(of) strengthوَالْأَبْصَارِwal-abṣāriand vision
  46. 46إِنَّاinnāIndeed Weأَخْلَصْنَاهُمْakhlaṣnāhum[We] chose themبِخَالِصَةٍbikhāliṣatinfor an exclusive (quality)ذِكْرَىdhik'rāremembranceالدَّارِl-dāri(of) the Home
  47. 47وَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed theyعِنْدَنَاʿindanāto Usلَمِنَlamina(are) fromالْمُصْطَفَيْنَl-muṣ'ṭafaynathe chosen onesالْأَخْيَارِl-akhyārithe best
  48. 48وَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurAnd rememberإِسْمَاعِيلَis'māʿīlaIsmailوَالْيَسَعَwal-yasaʿaand Al-Yasaوَذَاwadhāand Dhul-kiflالْكِفْلِl-kif'liand Dhul-kiflوَكُلٌّwakullunand allمِنَmina(are) fromالْأَخْيَارِl-akhyārithe best
  49. 49هَذَاhādhāThisذِكْرٌdhik'run(is) a Reminderوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the righteousلَحُسْنَlaḥus'nasurely is a goodمَءَابٍmaābinplace of return
  50. 50جَنَّاتِjannātiGardensعَدْنٍʿadnin(of) Eternityمُفَتَّحَةًmufattaḥatan(will be) openedلَهُمُlahumufor themالْأَبْوَابُl-abwābuthe gates
  51. 51مُتَّكِئِينَmuttakiīnaRecliningفِيهَاfīhāthereinيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey will callفِيهَاfīhāthereinبِفَاكِهَةٍbifākihatinfor fruitكَثِيرَةٍkathīratinmanyوَشَرَابٍwasharābinand drink
  52. 52وَعِنْدَهُمْwaʿindahumAnd with themقَاصِرَاتُqāṣirātu(will be) companions of modest gazeالطَّرْفِl-ṭarfi(will be) companions of modest gazeأَتْرَابٌatrābunwell-matched
  53. 53هَذَاhādhāThisمَا(is) whatتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnayou are promisedلِيَوْمِliyawmifor (the) Dayالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(of) Account
  54. 54إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَرِزْقُنَاlariz'qunā(is) surely Our provisionمَاnotلَهُlahufor itمِنْminanyنَفَادٍnafādindepletion
  55. 55هَذَاhādhāThis (is so)!وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلِلطَّاغِينَlilṭṭāghīnafor the transgressorsلَشَرَّlasharrasurely (is) an evilمَءَابٍmaābinplace of return
  56. 56جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellيَصْلَوْنَهَاyaṣlawnahāthey will burn thereinفَبِئْسَfabi'saand wretched isالْمِهَادُl-mihāduthe resting place
  57. 57هَذَاhādhāThis (is so)!فَلْيَذُوقُوهُfalyadhūqūhuThen let them taste itحَمِيمٌḥamīmunboiling fluidوَغَسَّاقٌwaghassāqunand purulence
  58. 58وَءَاخَرُwaākharuAnd otherمِنْminofشَكْلِهِshaklihiits typeأَزْوَاجٌazwājun(of various) kinds
  59. 59هَذَاhādhāThisفَوْجٌfawjun(is) a companyمُقْتَحِمٌmuq'taḥimunbursting inمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youلَاNoمَرْحَبًاmarḥabanwelcomeبِهِمْbihimfor themإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyصَالُواṣālū(will) burnالنَّارِl-nāri(in) the Fire
  60. 60قَالُواqālūThey sayبَلْbalNay!أَنْتُمْantumYouلَاnoمَرْحَبًاmarḥabanwelcomeبِكُمْbikumfor youأَنْتُمْantumYouقَدَّمْتُمُوهُqaddamtumūhubrought thisلَنَاlanāupon usفَبِئْسَfabi'saSo wretched isالْقَرَارُl-qarāruthe settlement
  61. 61قَالُواqālūThey will sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordمَنْmanwhoeverقَدَّمَqaddamabroughtلَنَاlanāupon usهَذَاhādhāthisفَزِدْهُfazid'huincrease for himعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentضِعْفًاḍiʿ'fandoubleفِيinالنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
  62. 62وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they will sayمَاWhat (is)لَنَاlanāfor usلَاnotنَرَىnarāwe seeرِجَالًاrijālanmenكُنَّاkunnāwe used (to)نَعُدُّهُمْnaʿudduhumcount themمِنَminaamongالْأَشْرَارِl-ashrārithe bad ones
  63. 63أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْattakhadhnāhumDid we take themسِخْرِيًّاsikh'riyyan(in) ridiculeأَمْamorزَاغَتْzāghathas turned awayعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themالْأَبْصَارُl-abṣāruthe vision

  65. 65قُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنَاanāI amمُنْذِرٌmundhiruna warnerوَمَاwamāand notمِنْmin(is there) anyإِلَهٍilāhingodإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالْوَاحِدُl-wāḥiduthe Oneالْقَهَّارُl-qahāruthe Irresistible
  66. 66رَبُّrabbuLordالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْغَفَّارُl-ghafāruthe Oft-Forgiving
  67. 67قُلْqulSayهُوَhuwaIt (is)نَبَؤٌاnaba-ona newsعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  68. 68أَنْتُمْantumYouعَنْهُʿanhufrom itمُعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnaturn away
  69. 69مَاNotكَانَkānaisلِيَliyafor meمِنْminanyعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeبِالْمَلَإِbil-mala-i(of) the chiefsالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlāthe exaltedإِذْidhwhenيَخْتَصِمُونَyakhtaṣimūnathey were disputing
  70. 70إِنْinNotيُوحَىyūḥāhas been revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meإِلَّاillāexceptأَنَّمَاannamāthat onlyأَنَاanāI amنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  71. 71إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordلِلْمَلَائِكَةِlil'malāikatito the AngelsإِنِّيinnīIndeed I Amخَالِقٌkhāliqungoing to createبَشَرًاbasharana human beingمِنْminfromطِينٍṭīninclay
  72. 72فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenسَوَّيْتُهُsawwaytuhuI have proportioned himوَنَفَخْتُwanafakhtuand breathedفِيهِfīhiinto himمِنْminofرُوحِيrūḥīMy spiritفَقَعُواfaqaʿūthen fall downلَهُlahuto himسَاجِدِينَsājidīnaprostrating
  73. 73فَسَجَدَfasajadaSo prostratedالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsكُلُّهُمْkulluhumall of themأَجْمَعُونَajmaʿūnatogether
  74. 74إِلَّاillāExceptإِبْلِيسَib'līsaIblisاسْتَكْبَرَis'takbarahe was arrogantوَكَانَwakānaand becameمِنَminaofالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  75. 75قَالَqālaHe saidيَاإِبْلِيسُyāib'līsuO Iblis!مَاWhatمَنَعَكَmanaʿakaprevented youأَنْanthatتَسْجُدَtasjudayou (should) prostrateلِمَاlimāto (one) whomخَلَقْتُkhalaqtuI createdبِيَدَيَّbiyadayyawith My HandsأَسْتَكْبَرْتَastakbartaAre you arrogantأَمْamorكُنْتَkuntaare youمِنَminaofالْعَالِينَl-ʿālīnathe exalted ones
  76. 76قَالَqālaHe saidأَنَاanāI amخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِنْهُmin'huthan himخَلَقْتَنِيkhalaqtanīYou created meمِنْminfromنَارٍnārinfireوَخَلَقْتَهُwakhalaqtahuand You created himمِنْminfromطِينٍṭīninclay
  77. 77قَالَqālaHe saidفَاخْرُجْfa-ukh'rujThen get outمِنْهَاmin'hāof itفَإِنَّكَfa-innakafor indeed youرَجِيمٌrajīmun(are) accursed
  78. 78وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youلَعْنَتِيlaʿnatī(is) My curseإِلَىilāuntilيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالدِّينِl-dīni(of) Judgment
  79. 79قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!فَأَنْظِرْنِيfa-anẓir'nīThen give me respiteإِلَىilāuntilيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey are resurrected
  80. 80قَالَqālaHe saidفَإِنَّكَfa-innakaThen indeed youمِنَmina(are) ofالْمُنْظَرِينَl-munẓarīnathose given respite
  81. 81إِلَىilāUntilيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْوَقْتِl-waqti(of) the timeالْمَعْلُومِl-maʿlūmiwell-known
  82. 82قَالَqālaHe saidفَبِعِزَّتِكَfabiʿizzatikaThen by Your mightلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْla-ugh'wiyannahumI will surely mislead themأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  83. 83إِلَّاillāExceptعِبَادَكَʿibādakaYour slavesمِنْهُمُmin'humuamong themالْمُخْلَصِينَl-mukh'laṣīnathe chosen ones
  84. 84قَالَqālaHe saidفَالْحَقُّfal-ḥaquThen (it is) the truthوَالْحَقَّwal-ḥaqaand the truthأَقُولُaqūluI say
  85. 85لَأَمْلَأَنَّla-amla-annaSurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellمِنْكَminkawith youوَمِمَّنْwamimmanand those whoتَبِعَكَtabiʿakafollow youمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  86. 86قُلْqulSayمَاNotأَسْءَلُكُمْasalukumI ask of youعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itمِنْminanyأَجْرٍajrinpaymentوَمَاwamāand notأَنَاanāI amمِنَminaofالْمُتَكَلِّفِينَl-mutakalifīnathe ones who pretend
  87. 87إِنْinNotهُوَhuwait (is)إِلَّاillāexceptذِكْرٌdhik'runa Reminderلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnato the worlds
  88. 88وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّwalataʿlamunnaAnd surely you will knowنَبَأَهُnaba-ahuits informationبَعْدَbaʿdaafterحِينٍḥīnina time
