Surah 29 — Al-Ankaboot

1. 1الٓمٓalif-lam-meemAlif Laam Meem
2. 2أَحَسِبَaḥasibaDo thinkالنَّاسُl-nāsuthe peopleأَنْanthatيُتْرَكُواyut'rakūthey will be leftأَنْanbecauseيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاlāwill not (be tested)يُفْتَنُونَyuf'tanūna(will not) be tested
3. 3وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeedفَتَنَّاfatannāWe testedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themفَلَيَعْلَمَنَّfalayaʿlamannaAnd Allah will surely make evidentاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah will surely make evidentالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoصَدَقُواṣadaqū(are) truthfulوَلَيَعْلَمَنَّwalayaʿlamannaand He will surely make evidentالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
4. 4أَمْamOrحَسِبَḥasibathinkالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātievil deedsأَنْanthatيَسْبِقُونَاyasbiqūnāthey can outrun UsسَاءَsāaEvil isمَاmāwhatيَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey judge
5. 5مَنْmanWhoeverكَانَkāna[is]يَرْجُواyarjūhopesلِقَاءَliqāa(for the) meetingاللَّهِl-lahi(with) Allahفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedأَجَلَajala(the) Termاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَءَاتٍlaātin(is) surely comingوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
6. 6وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverجَاهَدَjāhadastrivesفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيُجَاهِدُyujāhiduhe strivesلِنَفْسِهِlinafsihifor himselfإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَغَنِيٌّlaghaniyyun(is) Free from needعَنِʿaniofالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
7. 7وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous (deeds)لَنُكَفِّرَنَّlanukaffirannasurely We will removeعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themسَيِّئَاتِهِمْsayyiātihimtheir evil deedsوَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْwalanajziyannahumand We will surely reward themأَحْسَنَaḥsana(the) bestالَّذِيalladhī(of) whatكَانُواkānūthey usedيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūna(to) do
8. 8وَوَصَّيْنَاwawaṣṣaynāAnd We have enjoinedالْإِنْسَانَl-insāna(on) manبِوَالِدَيْهِbiwālidayhigoodness to his parentsحُسْنًاḥus'nangoodness to his parentsوَإِنْwa-inbut ifجَاهَدَاكَjāhadākathey both strive against youلِتُشْرِكَlitush'rikato make you associateبِيbīwith Meمَاmāwhatلَيْسَlaysanotلَكَlakayou haveبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munany knowledgeفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتُطِعْهُمَاtuṭiʿ'humāobey both of themإِلَيَّilayyaTo Meمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your returnفَأُنَبِّئُكُمْfa-unabbi-ukumand I will inform youبِمَاbimāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou usedتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna(to) do
9. 9وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsلَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْlanud'khilannahumWe will surely admit themفِيfīamongالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
10. 10وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleمَنْman(is he) whoيَقُولُyaqūlusaysءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahفَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenأُوذِيَūdhiyahe is harmedفِيfīinاللَّهِl-lahi(the Way of) Allahجَعَلَjaʿalahe considersفِتْنَةَfit'nata(the) trialالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleكَعَذَابِkaʿadhābias (the) punishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَئِنْwala-inBut ifجَاءَjāacomesنَصْرٌnaṣrunvictoryمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnasurely they sayإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weكُنَّاkunnāwereمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youأَوَلَيْسَawalaysaIs notاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِأَعْلَمَbi-aʿlamamost knowingبِمَاbimāof whatفِيfī(is) inصُدُورِṣudūri(the) breastsالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
11. 11وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّwalayaʿlamannaAnd Allah will surely make evidentاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah will surely make evidentالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَلَيَعْلَمَنَّwalayaʿlamannaAnd He will surely make evidentالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocrites
12. 12وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveاتَّبِعُواittabiʿūFollowسَبِيلَنَاsabīlanāour wayوَلْنَحْمِلْwalnaḥmiland we will carryخَطَايَاكُمْkhaṭāyākumyour sinsوَمَاwamāBut notهُمْhumtheyبِحَامِلِينَbiḥāmilīna(are) going to carryمِنْminofخَطَايَاهُمْkhaṭāyāhumtheir sinsمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyلَكَاذِبُونَlakādhibūna(are) surely liars
13. 13وَلَيَحْمِلُنَّwalayaḥmilunnaBut surely they will carryأَثْقَالَهُمْathqālahumtheir burdensوَأَثْقَالًاwa-athqālanand burdensمَعَmaʿawithأَثْقَالِهِمْathqālihimtheir burdensوَلَيُسْءَلُنَّwalayus'alunnaand surely they will be questionedيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكَانُواkānūthey usedيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūna(to) invent
14. 14وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentنُوحًاnūḥanNuhإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleفَلَبِثَfalabithaand he remainedفِيهِمْfīhimamong themأَلْفَalfaa thousandسَنَةٍsanatinyear(s)إِلَّاillāsaveخَمْسِينَkhamsīnafiftyعَامًاʿāmanyear(s)فَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuthen seized themالطُّوفَانُl-ṭūfānuthe floodوَهُمْwahumwhile theyظَالِمُونَẓālimūna(were) wrongdoers
15. 15فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُfa-anjaynāhuBut We saved himوَأَصْحَابَwa-aṣḥābaand (the) peopleالسَّفِينَةِl-safīnati(of) the shipوَجَعَلْنَاهَاwajaʿalnāhāand We made itءَايَةًāyatana Signلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
16. 16وَإِبْرَاهِيمَwa-ib'rāhīmaAnd Ibrahimإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saidلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَاتَّقُوهُwa-ittaqūhuand fear HimذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
17. 17إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worshipمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَوْثَانًاawthānanidolsوَتَخْلُقُونَwatakhluqūnaand you createإِفْكًاif'kanfalsehoodإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worshipمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلَاlā(do) notيَمْلِكُونَyamlikūnapossessلَكُمْlakumfor youرِزْقًاriz'qanprovisionفَابْتَغُواfa-ib'taghūSo seek anyعِنْدَʿindafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionوَاعْبُدُوهُwa-uʿ'budūhuand worship Himوَاشْكُرُواwa-ush'kurūand be gratefulلَهُlahuto HimإِلَيْهِilayhiTo Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
18. 18وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُكَذِّبُواtukadhibūyou denyفَقَدْfaqadthen verilyكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedأُمَمٌumamun(the) nationsمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَمَاwamāAnd notعَلَىʿalā(is) onالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerإِلَّاillāexceptالْبَلَاغُl-balāghuthe conveyanceالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear
19. 19أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeكَيْفَkayfahowيُبْدِئُyub'di-uAllah originatesاللَّهُl-lahuAllah originatesالْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creationثُمَّthummathenيُعِيدُهُyuʿīduhurepeats itإِنَّinnaIndeedذَلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalāforاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرٌyasīrun(is) easy
20. 20قُلْqulSayسِيرُواsīrūTravelفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَانْظُرُواfa-unẓurūand seeكَيْفَkayfahowبَدَأَbada-aHe originatedالْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creationثُمَّthummaThenاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُنْشِئُyunshi-uwill produceالنَّشْأَةَl-nashatathe creationالْءَاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe lastإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrun(is) All-Powerful
21. 21يُعَذِّبُyuʿadhibuHe punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَرْحَمُwayarḥamuand has mercyمَنْman(on) whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُقْلَبُونَtuq'labūnayou will be returned
22. 22وَمَاwamāAnd notأَنْتُمْantumyouبِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnacan escapeفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notفِيfīinالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenوَمَاwamāAnd notلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمِنْminanyوَلِيٍّwaliyyinprotectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرٍnaṣīrina helper
23. 23وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Signsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلِقَائِهِwaliqāihiand (the) meeting (with) Himأُولَئِكَulāikathoseيَئِسُواya-isū(have) despairedمِنْminofرَحْمَتِيraḥmatīMy Mercyوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
24. 24فَمَاfamāAnd notكَانَkānawasجَوَابَjawāba(the) answerقَوْمِهِqawmihi(of) his peopleإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidاقْتُلُوهُuq'tulūhuKill himأَوْaworحَرِّقُوهُḥarriqūhuburn himفَأَنْجَاهُfa-anjāhuBut Allah saved himاللَّهُl-lahuBut Allah saved himمِنَminafromالنَّارِl-nārithe fireإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
25. 25وَقَالَwaqālaAnd he saidإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyاتَّخَذْتُمْittakhadhtumyou have takenمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَوْثَانًاawthānanidolsمَوَدَّةَmawaddata(out of) loveبَيْنِكُمْbaynikumamong youفِيfīinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldثُمَّthummaThenيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionيَكْفُرُyakfuruyou will denyبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumone anotherبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinone anotherوَيَلْعَنُwayalʿanuand curseبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumone anotherبَعْضًاbaʿḍanone anotherوَمَأْوَاكُمُwamawākumuand your abodeالنَّارُl-nāru(will be) the Fireوَمَاwamāand notلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyنَاصِرِينَnāṣirīnahelpers
26. 26فَءَامَنَfaāmanaAnd believedلَهُlahu[in] himلُوطٌlūṭunLutوَقَالَwaqālaand he saidإِنِّيinnīIndeed I (am)مُهَاجِرٌmuhājirunemigratingإِلَىilātoرَبِّيrabbīmy LordإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heهُوَhuwa[He] (is)الْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
27. 27وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We grantedلَهُlahuto himإِسْحَاقَis'ḥāqaIshaqوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We placedفِيfīinذُرِّيَّتِهِdhurriyyatihihis offspringsالنُّبُوَّةَl-nubuwatathe Prophethoodوَالْكِتَابَwal-kitābaand the BookوَءَاتَيْنَاهُwaātaynāhuAnd We gave himأَجْرَهُajrahuhis rewardفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed heفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterلَمِنَlamina(is) surely amongالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
28. 28وَلُوطًاwalūṭanAnd Lutإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saidلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed youلَتَأْتُونَlatatūnacommitالْفَاحِشَةَl-fāḥishatathe immoralityمَاmānotسَبَقَكُمْsabaqakumhas preceded youبِهَاbihāwith itمِنْminanyأَحَدٍaḥadinoneمِنَminafromالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
29. 29أَئِنَّكُمْa-innakumIndeed youلَتَأْتُونَlatatūnaapproachالرِّجَالَl-rijālathe menوَتَقْطَعُونَwataqṭaʿūnaand you cut offالسَّبِيلَl-sabīlathe roadوَتَأْتُونَwatatūnaand commitفِيfīinنَادِيكُمُnādīkumuyour meetingsالْمُنْكَرَl-munkaraevilفَمَاfamāAnd notكَانَkānawasجَوَابَjawāba(the) answerقَوْمِهِqawmihi(of) his peopleإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidائْتِنَاi'tināBring upon usبِعَذَابِbiʿadhābi(the) punishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِنْinifكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
30. 30قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!انْصُرْنِيunṣur'nīHelp meعَلَىʿalāagainstالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
31. 31وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَاءَتْjāatcameرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengersإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahimبِالْبُشْرَىbil-bush'rāwith the glad tidingsقَالُواqālūthey saidإِنَّاinnāIndeed weمُهْلِكُواmuh'likū(are) going to destroyأَهْلِahli(the) peopleهَذِهِhādhihi(of) thisالْقَرْيَةِl-qaryatitownإِنَّinnaIndeedأَهْلَهَاahlahāits peopleكَانُواkānūareظَالِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
32. 32قَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيهَاfīhāin itلُوطًاlūṭan(is) LutقَالُواqālūThey saidنَحْنُnaḥnuWeأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknow betterبِمَنْbimanwhoفِيهَاfīhā(is) in itلَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُlanunajjiyannahuWe will surely save himوَأَهْلَهُwa-ahlahuand his familyإِلَّاillāexceptامْرَأَتَهُim'ra-atahuhis wifeكَانَتْkānatSheمِنَmina(is) ofالْغَابِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who remain behind
33. 33وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenأَنْan[that]جَاءَتْjāatcameرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengersلُوطًاlūṭan(to) Lutسِيءَsīahe was distressedبِهِمْbihimfor themوَضَاقَwaḍāqaand felt straitenedبِهِمْbihimfor themذَرْعًاdharʿan(and) uneasyوَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidلَاlā(Do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَحْزَنْtaḥzangrieveإِنَّاinnāIndeed weمُنَجُّوكَmunajjūka(will) save youوَأَهْلَكَwa-ahlakaand your familyإِلَّاillāexceptامْرَأَتَكَim'ra-atakayour wifeكَانَتْkānatSheمِنَmina(is) ofالْغَابِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who remain behind
34. 34إِنَّاinnāIndeed weمُنْزِلُونَmunzilūna(will) bring downعَلَىʿalāonأَهْلِahli(the) peopleهَذِهِhādhihi(of) thisالْقَرْيَةِl-qaryatitownرِجْزًاrij'zana punishmentمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāi(the) skyبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey have beenيَفْسُقُونَyafsuqūnadefiantly disobedient
35. 35وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyتَرَكْنَاtaraknāWe have leftمِنْهَاmin'hāabout itءَايَةًāyatana signبَيِّنَةًbayyinatan(as) evidenceلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnawho use reason
36. 36وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toمَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyanأَخَاهُمْakhāhumtheir brotherشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibفَقَالَfaqālaAnd he saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَارْجُواwa-ir'jūand expectالْيَوْمَl-yawmathe Dayالْءَاخِرَl-ākhirathe Lastوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَعْثَوْاtaʿthawcommit evilفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمُفْسِدِينَmuf'sidīna(as) corrupters
37. 37فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied himفَأَخَذَتْهُمُfa-akhadhathumuso seized themالرَّجْفَةُl-rajfatuthe earthquakeفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūand they becameفِيfīinدَارِهِمْdārihimtheir homeجَاثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone
38. 38وَعَادًاwaʿādanAnd Aadوَثَمُودَwathamūdāand Thamudوَقَدْwaqadand verilyتَبَيَّنَtabayyana(has) become clearلَكُمْlakumto youمِنْminfromمَسَاكِنِهِمْmasākinihimtheir dwellingsوَزَيَّنَwazayyanaAnd made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsفَصَدَّهُمْfaṣaddahumand averted themعَنِʿanifromالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe Wayوَكَانُواwakānūthough they wereمُسْتَبْصِرِينَmus'tabṣirīnaendowed with insight
39. 39وَقَارُونَwaqārūnaAnd Qarunوَفِرْعَوْنَwafir'ʿawnaand Firaunوَهَامَانَwahāmānaand HamanوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَهُمْjāahumcame to themمُوسَىmūsāMusaبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith clear evidencesفَاسْتَكْبَرُواfa-is'takbarūbut they were arrogantفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَمَاwamāand notكَانُواkānūthey couldسَابِقِينَsābiqīnaoutstrip Us
40. 40فَكُلًّاfakullanSo eachأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe seizedبِذَنْبِهِbidhanbihifor his sinفَمِنْهُمْfamin'humThen of themمَنْman(was he) whoأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himحَاصِبًاḥāṣibana violent stormوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(was he) whoأَخَذَتْهُakhadhathuseized himالصَّيْحَةُl-ṣayḥatuthe awful cryوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(was he) whoخَسَفْنَاkhasafnāWe caused to swallowبِهِbihihimالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(was he) whoأَغْرَقْنَاaghraqnāWe drownedوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawasاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيَظْلِمَهُمْliyaẓlimahumto wrong themوَلَكِنْwalākinbutكَانُواkānūthey wereأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnadoing wrong
41. 41مَثَلُmathalu(The) exampleالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtakeمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaprotectorsكَمَثَلِkamathali(is) likeالْعَنْكَبُوتِl-ʿankabūtithe spiderاتَّخَذَتْittakhadhatwho takesبَيْتًاbaytana houseوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedأَوْهَنَawhanathe weakestالْبُيُوتِl-buyūti(of) housesلَبَيْتُlabaytu(is) surely (the) houseالْعَنْكَبُوتِl-ʿankabūti(of) the spiderلَوْlawif (only)كَانُواkānūtheyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
42. 42إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminbesides Himدُونِهِdūnihibesides HimمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
43. 43وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd theseالْأَمْثَالُl-amthāluexamplesنَضْرِبُهَاnaḍribuhāWe set forthلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito mankindوَمَاwamābut notيَعْقِلُهَاyaʿqiluhāwill understand themإِلَّاillāexceptالْعَالِمُونَl-ʿālimūnathose of knowledge
44. 44خَلَقَkhalaqaAllah createdاللَّهُl-lahuAllah createdالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a Signلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
45. 45اتْلُut'luReciteمَاmāwhatأُوحِيَūḥiyahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookوَأَقِمِwa-aqimiand establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerإِنَّinnaIndeedالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerتَنْهَىtanhāpreventsعَنِʿanifromالْفَحْشَاءِl-faḥshāithe immoralityوَالْمُنْكَرِwal-munkariand evil deedsوَلَذِكْرُwaladhik'ruand surely (the) remembranceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greatestوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتَصْنَعُونَtaṣnaʿūnayou do
46. 46وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُجَادِلُواtujādilūargueأَهْلَahla(with the) People of the Bookالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(with the) People of the Bookإِلَّاillāexceptبِالَّتِيbi-allatīby whichهِيَhiya[it]أَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) bestإِلَّاillāexceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamū(do) wrongمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَقُولُواwaqūlūand sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīin that (which)أُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usوَأُنزِلَwa-unzilaand was revealedإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youوَإِلَهُنَاwa-ilāhunāAnd our Godوَإِلَهُكُمْwa-ilāhukumand your Godوَاحِدٌwāḥidun(is) Oneوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuand weلَهُlahuto Himمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūnasubmit
47. 47وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (have) revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaSo thoseءَاتَيْنَاهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave [them]الْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِهِbihithereinوَمِنْwaminAnd amongهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseمَنْman(are some) whoيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieveبِهِbihithereinوَمَاwamāAnd noneيَجْحَدُyajḥadurejectبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesإِلَّاillāexceptالْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūnathe disbelievers
48. 48وَمَاwamāAnd notكُنْتَkunta(did) youتَتْلُواtatlūreciteمِنْminbefore itقَبْلِهِqablihibefore itمِنْminanyكِتَابٍkitābinBookوَلَاwalāand notتَخُطُّهُtakhuṭṭuhu(did) you write itبِيَمِينِكَbiyamīnikawith your right handإِذًاidhanin that caseلَارْتَابَla-ir'tābasurely (would) have doubtedالْمُبْطِلُونَl-mub'ṭilūnathe falsifiers
49. 49بَلْbalNayهُوَhuwaitءَايَاتٌāyātun(is) Versesبَيِّنَاتٌbayyinātunclearفِيfīinصُدُورِṣudūri(the) breastsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoأُوتُواūtūare givenالْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeوَمَاwamāAnd notيَجْحَدُyajḥadurejectبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesإِلَّاillāexceptالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
50. 50وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notأُنْزِلَunzilaare sent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himءَايَاتٌāyātun(the) Signsمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyالْءَايَاتُl-āyātuthe Signsعِنْدَʿinda(are) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَإِنَّمَاwa-innamāand onlyأَنَاanāI (am)نَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
51. 51أَوَلَمْawalamAnd is (it) notيَكْفِهِمْyakfihimsufficient for themأَنَّاannāthat Weأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnārevealedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيُتْلَىyut'lā(which) is recitedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَرَحْمَةًlaraḥmatansurely is a mercyوَذِكْرَىwadhik'rāand a reminderلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
52. 52قُلْqulSayكَفَىkafāSufficient isبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahبَيْنِيbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) WitnessيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِالْبَاطِلِbil-bāṭiliin [the] falsehoodوَكَفَرُواwakafarūand disbelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahأُولَئِكَulāikathoseهُمُhumutheyالْخَاسِرُونَl-khāsirūna(are) the losers
53. 53وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَwayastaʿjilūnakaAnd they ask you to hastenبِالْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābi[with] the punishmentوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notأَجَلٌajalun(for) a termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedلَجَاءَهُمُlajāahumusurely (would) have come to themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentوَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمْwalayatiyannahumBut it will surely come to themبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَاlā(do) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
54. 54يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَyastaʿjilūnakaThey ask you to hastenبِالْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābithe punishmentوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellلَمُحِيطَةٌlamuḥīṭatunwill surely encompassبِالْكَافِرِينَbil-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
55. 55يَوْمَyawmaOn (the) Dayيَغْشَاهُمُyaghshāhumuwill cover themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentمِنْminfromفَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove themوَمِنْwaminand fromتَحْتِtaḥtibelowأَرْجُلِهِمْarjulihimtheir feetوَيَقُولُwayaqūluand He will sayذُوقُواdhūqūTasteمَاmāwhatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou usedتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūna(to) do
56. 56يَاعِبَادِيَyāʿibādiyaO My servantsالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!إِنَّinnaIndeedأَرْضِيarḍīMy earthوَاسِعَةٌwāsiʿatun(is) spaciousفَإِيَّايَfa-iyyāyaso onlyفَاعْبُدُونِfa-uʿ'budūniworship Me
57. 57كُلُّkulluEveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulذَائِقَةُdhāiqatu(will) tasteالْمَوْتِl-mawtithe deathثُمَّthummaThenإِلَيْنَاilaynāto Usتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
58. 58وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsلَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْlanubawwi-annahumsurely We will give them a placeمِنَminainالْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadiseغُرَفًاghurafanlofty dwellingsتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itنِعْمَniʿ'maExcellent isأَجْرُajru(the) rewardالْعَامِلِينَl-ʿāmilīna(of) the workers
59. 59الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientوَعَلَىwaʿalāand uponرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَyatawakkalūnaput their trust
60. 60وَكَأَيِّنْwaka-ayyinAnd how manyمِنْminofدَابَّةٍdābbatina creatureلَاlā(does) notتَحْمِلُtaḥmilucarryرِزْقَهَاriz'qahāits provisionاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَرْزُقُهَاyarzuquhāprovides (for) itوَإِيَّاكُمْwa-iyyākumand (for) youوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
61. 61وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifسَأَلْتَهُمْsa-altahumyou ask themمَنْmanWhoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand subjectedالشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaSurely they would sayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَأَنَّىfa-annāThen howيُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūnaare they deluded
62. 62اللَّهُal-lahuAllahيَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextendsالرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionلِمَنْlimanfor whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesوَيَقْدِرُwayaqdiruand restrictsلَهُlahufor himإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
63. 63وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifسَأَلْتَهُمْsa-altahumyou ask themمَنْmanWhoنَزَّلَnazzalasends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَحْيَاfa-aḥyāand gives lifeبِهِbihitherebyالْأَرْضَl-arḍa(to) the earthمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَوْتِهَاmawtihāits deathلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnaSurely, they would sayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahقُلِquliSayالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll Praisesلِلَّهِlillahi(are) for AllahبَلْbalButأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnause reason
64. 64وَمَاwamāAnd notهَذِهِhādhihi(is) thisالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatulifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldإِلَّاillābutلَهْوٌlahwunamusementوَلَعِبٌwalaʿibunand playوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedالدَّارَl-dārathe Homeالْءَاخِرَةَl-ākhirata(of) the Hereafterلَهِيَlahiyasurely itالْحَيَوَانُl-ḥayawānu(is) the lifeلَوْlawif onlyكَانُواkānūtheyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
65. 65فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd whenرَكِبُواrakibūthey embarkفِيfī[in]الْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe shipدَعَوُاdaʿawūthey callاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincereلَهُlahuto Himالدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religionفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenنَجَّاهُمْnajjāhumHe delivers themإِلَىilātoالْبَرِّl-barithe landإِذَاidhābeholdهُمْhumtheyيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnaassociate partners (with Him)
66. 66لِيَكْفُرُواliyakfurūSo that they may denyبِمَاbimā[in] whatءَاتَيْنَاهُمْātaynāhumWe have given themوَلِيَتَمَتَّعُواwaliyatamattaʿūand they may enjoy (themselves)فَسَوْفَfasawfaBut soonيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey will know
67. 67أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّاannāthat Weجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāhave madeحَرَمًاḥaramana Sanctuaryءَامِنًاāminansecureوَيُتَخَطَّفُwayutakhaṭṭafuwhile are being taken awayالنَّاسُl-nāsuthe peopleمِنْminaround themحَوْلِهِمْḥawlihimaround themأَفَبِالْبَاطِلِafabil-bāṭiliThen do in the falsehoodيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeوَبِنِعْمَةِwabiniʿ'matiand in (the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnathey disbelieve
68. 68وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (he) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventsعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieأَوْaworكَذَّبَkadhabadeniesبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truthلَمَّاlammāwhenجَاءَهُjāahuit has come to himأَلَيْسَalaysaIs there notفِيfīinجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellمَثْوًىmathwanan abodeلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelievers
69. 69وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoجَاهَدُواjāhadūstriveفِينَاfīnāfor UsلَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْlanahdiyannahumWe will surely guide themسُبُلَنَاsubulanā(to) Our waysوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَمَعَlamaʿasurely (is) withالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
