بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 27 — An-Naml

  1. 1طسٓta-seenTa Seenتِلْكَtil'kaTheseءَايَاتُāyātu(are the) Versesالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'āni(of) the Quranوَكِتَابٍwakitābinand a Bookمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  2. 2هُدًىhudanA guidanceوَبُشْرَىwabush'rāand glad tidingsلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
  3. 3الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُقِيمُونَyuqīmūnaestablishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَيُؤْتُونَwayu'tūnaand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَهُمْwahumand theyبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterهُمْhum[they]يُوقِنُونَyūqinūnabelieve with certainty
  4. 4إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the HereafterزَيَّنَّاzayyannāWe have made fair-seemingلَهُمْlahumto themأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsفَهُمْfahumso theyيَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawander blindly
  5. 5أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the onesلَهُمْlahumfor themسُوءُsūu(is) an evilالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi[the] punishmentوَهُمْwahumand theyفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterهُمُhumu[they]الْأَخْسَرُونَl-akhsarūna(will be) the greatest losers
  6. 6وَإِنَّكَwa-innakaAnd indeed, youلَتُلَقَّىlatulaqqāsurely, receiveالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranمِنْminfrom [near]لَدُنْladunfrom [near]حَكِيمٍḥakīminthe All-Wiseعَلِيمٍʿalīminthe All-Knower
  7. 7إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِأَهْلِهِli-ahlihito his familyإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iءَانَسْتُānastuperceiveنَارًاnārana fireسَءَاتِيكُمْsaātīkumI will bring youمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itبِخَبَرٍbikhabarinsome informationأَوْaworءَاتِيكُمْātīkumI will bring youبِشِهَابٍbishihābina torchقَبَسٍqabasinburningلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَصْطَلُونَtaṣṭalūnawarm yourselves
  8. 8فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenجَاءَهَاjāahāhe came to itنُودِيَnūdiyahe was calledأَنْan[that]بُورِكَbūrikaBlessed isمَنْmanwhoفِي(is) atالنَّارِl-nārithe fireوَمَنْwamanand whoeverحَوْلَهَاḥawlahā(is) around itوَسُبْحَانَwasub'ḥānaAnd glory beاللَّهِl-lahi(to) Allahرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  9. 9يَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!إِنَّهُinnahuIndeedأَنَاanāI Amاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  10. 10وَأَلْقِwa-alqiAnd Throwعَصَاكَʿaṣākayour staffفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenرَءَاهَاraāhāhe saw itتَهْتَزُّtahtazzumovingكَأَنَّهَاka-annahāas if itجَانٌّjānnun(were) a snakeوَلَّىwallāhe turned backمُدْبِرًاmud'biran(in) flightوَلَمْwalamand (did) notيُعَقِّبْyuʿaqqiblook backيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!لَا(Do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearإِنِّيinnīIndeed [I]لَا(do) notيَخَافُyakhāfufearلَدَيَّladayya(in) My presenceالْمُرْسَلُونَl-mur'salūnathe Messengers
  11. 11إِلَّاillāExceptمَنْmanwhoظَلَمَẓalamawrongsثُمَّthummathenبَدَّلَbaddalasubstitutesحُسْنًاḥus'nangoodبَعْدَbaʿdaafterسُوءٍsūinevilفَإِنِّيfa-innīthen indeed I AmغَفُورٌghafūrunOft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  12. 12وَأَدْخِلْwa-adkhilAnd enterيَدَكَyadakayour handفِيintoجَيْبِكَjaybikayour bosomتَخْرُجْtakhrujit will come forthبَيْضَاءَbayḍāawhiteمِنْminwithoutغَيْرِghayriwithoutسُوءٍsūinharmفِي(These are) amongتِسْعِtis'ʿinineءَايَاتٍāyātinsignsإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَقَوْمِهِwaqawmihiand his peopleإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyكَانُواkānūareقَوْمًاqawmana peopleفَاسِقِينَfāsiqīnadefiantly disobedient
  13. 13فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to themءَايَاتُنَاāyātunāOur Signsمُبْصِرَةًmub'ṣiratanvisibleقَالُواqālūthey saidهَذَاhādhāThisسِحْرٌsiḥ'run(is) a magicمُبِينٌmubīnunmanifest
  14. 14وَجَحَدُواwajaḥadūAnd they rejectedبِهَاbihāthemوَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَاwa-is'tayqanathāthough were convinced with them (signs)أَنْفُسُهُمْanfusuhumthemselvesظُلْمًاẓul'man(out of) injusticeوَعُلُوًّاwaʿuluwwanand haughtinessفَانْظُرْfa-unẓurSo seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
  15. 15وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodوَسُلَيْمَانَwasulaymānaand Sulaimanعِلْمًاʿil'manknowledgeوَقَالَاwaqālāand they saidالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduPraise beلِلَّهِlillahito Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoفَضَّلَنَاfaḍḍalanāhas favored usعَلَىʿalāoverكَثِيرٍkathīrinmanyمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis servantsالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
  16. 16وَوَرِثَwawarithaAnd inheritedسُلَيْمَانُsulaymānuSulaimanدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodوَقَالَwaqālaAnd he saidيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّاسُl-nāsupeople!عُلِّمْنَاʿullim'nāWe have been taughtمَنْطِقَmanṭiqa(the) languageالطَّيْرِl-ṭayri(of) the birdsوَأُوتِينَاwaūtīnāand we have been givenمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely itالْفَضْلُl-faḍlu(is) the favorالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuevident
  17. 17وَحُشِرَwaḥushiraAnd were gatheredلِسُلَيْمَانَlisulaymānafor Sulaimanجُنُودُهُjunūduhuhis hostsمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinijinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand the menوَالطَّيْرِwal-ṭayriand the birdsفَهُمْfahumand theyيُوزَعُونَyūzaʿūna(were) set in rows
  18. 18حَتَّىḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenأَتَوْاatawthey cameعَلَىʿalātoوَادِwādi(the) valleyالنَّمْلِl-namli(of) the antsقَالَتْqālatsaidنَمْلَةٌnamlatunan antيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّمْلُl-namluantsادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterمَسَاكِنَكُمْmasākinakumyour dwellingsلَاlest not crush youيَحْطِمَنَّكُمْyaḥṭimannakumlest not crush youسُلَيْمَانُsulaymānuSulaimanوَجُنُودُهُwajunūduhuand his hostsوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَا(do) not perceiveيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūna(do) not perceive
  19. 19فَتَبَسَّمَfatabassamaSo he smiledضَاحِكًاḍāḥikanlaughingمِنْminatقَوْلِهَاqawlihāher speechوَقَالَwaqālaand saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!أَوْزِعْنِيawziʿ'nīGrant me (the) powerأَنْanthatأَشْكُرَashkuraI may thank Youنِعْمَتَكَniʿ'mataka(for) Your FavorالَّتِيallatīwhichأَنْعَمْتَanʿamtaYou have bestowedعَلَيَّʿalayyaon meوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onوَالِدَيَّwālidayyamy parentsوَأَنْwa-anand thatأَعْمَلَaʿmalaI may doصَالِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)تَرْضَاهُtarḍāhuthat will please Youوَأَدْخِلْنِيwa-adkhil'nīAnd admit meبِرَحْمَتِكَbiraḥmatikaby Your MercyفِيamongعِبَادِكَʿibādikaYour slavesالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnarighteous
  20. 20وَتَفَقَّدَwatafaqqadaAnd he inspectedالطَّيْرَl-ṭayrathe birdsفَقَالَfaqālaand saidمَاWhyلِيَliyaWhyلَاnotأَرَىarāI seeالْهُدْهُدَl-hud'hudathe hoopoeأَمْamorكَانَkānais heمِنَminafromالْغَائِبِينَl-ghāibīnathe absent
  21. 21لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُla-uʿadhibannahuI will surely punish himعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereأَوْaworلَأَذْبَحَنَّهُlaādh'baḥannahuI will surely slaughter himأَوْawunlessلَيَأْتِيَنِّيlayatiyannīhe brings meبِسُلْطَانٍbisul'ṭānina reasonمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  22. 22فَمَكَثَfamakathaSo he stayedغَيْرَghayranotبَعِيدٍbaʿīdinlongفَقَالَfaqālaand he saidأَحَطتُaḥaṭtuI have encompassedبِمَاbimāthat whichلَمْlamnotتُحِطْtuḥiṭyou have encompassedبِهِbihiitوَجِئْتُكَwaji'tukaand I have come to youمِنْminfromسَبَإٍsaba-inSabaبِنَبَإٍbinaba-inwith newsيَقِينٍyaqīnincertain
  23. 23إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iوَجَدْتُwajadttufoundامْرَأَةًim'ra-atana womanتَمْلِكُهُمْtamlikuhumruling themوَأُوتِيَتْwaūtiyatand she has been givenمِنْminofكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingوَلَهَاwalahāand for herعَرْشٌʿarshun(is) a throneعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  24. 24وَجَدْتُهَاwajadttuhāAnd I found herوَقَوْمَهَاwaqawmahāand her peopleيَسْجُدُونَyasjudūnaprostratingلِلشَّمْسِlilshamsito the sunمِنْmininstead of Allahدُونِdūniinstead of Allahاللَّهِl-lahiinstead of Allahوَزَيَّنَwazayyanaand has made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsفَصَدَّهُمْfaṣaddahumand averted themعَنِʿanifromالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe Wayفَهُمْfahumso theyلَا(are) notيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnaguided
  25. 25أَلَّاallāThat notيَسْجُدُواyasjudūthey prostrateلِلَّهِlillahito Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoيُخْرِجُyukh'rijubrings forthالْخَبْءَl-khaba-athe hiddenفِيinالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand knowsمَاwhatتُخْفُونَtukh'fūnayou concealوَمَاwamāand whatتُعْلِنُونَtuʿ'linūnayou declare
  26. 26اللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeرَبُّrabbu(the) Lordالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi(of) the Throneالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmithe Great
  27. 27قَالَqālaHe saidسَنَنْظُرُsananẓuruWe will seeأَصَدَقْتَaṣadaqtawhether you speak (the) truthأَمْamorكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
  28. 28اذْهَبْidh'habGoبِكِتَابِيbikitābīwith my letterهَذَاhādhāthisفَأَلْقِهْfa-alqihand deliver itإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themثُمَّthummaThenتَوَلَّtawallaturn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themفَانْظُرْfa-unẓurand seeمَاذَاmādhāwhatيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnathey return
  29. 29قَالَتْqālatShe saidيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالْمَلَأُl-mala-uchiefs!إِنِّيinnīIndeed [I]أُلْقِيَul'qiyais deliveredإِلَيَّilayyato meكِتَابٌkitābuna letterكَرِيمٌkarīmunnoble
  30. 30إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itمِنْmin(is) fromسُلَيْمَانَsulaymānaSulaimanوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuand indeed it (is)بِسْمِbis'miIn the nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahالرَّحْمَنِl-raḥmānithe Most Graciousالرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful
  31. 31أَلَّاallāThat notتَعْلُواtaʿlūexalt yourselvesعَلَيَّʿalayyaagainst meوَأْتُونِيwatūnībut come to meمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīna(in) submission."
  32. 32قَالَتْqālatShe saidيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالْمَلَأُl-mala-uchiefs!أَفْتُونِيaftūnīAdvise meفِيinأَمْرِيamrīmy affairمَاNotكُنْتُkuntuI would beقَاطِعَةًqāṭiʿatanthe one to decideأَمْرًاamranany matterحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَشْهَدُونِtashhadūniyou are present with me
  33. 33قَالُواqālūThey saidنَحْنُnaḥnuWeأُولُواulū(are) possessorsقُوَّةٍquwwatin(of) strengthوَأُولُواwa-ulūand possessorsبَأْسٍbasin(of) mightشَدِيدٍshadīdingreatوَالْأَمْرُwal-amruand the commandإِلَيْكِilayki(is) up to youفَانْظُرِيfa-unẓurīso lookمَاذَاmādhāwhatتَأْمُرِينَtamurīnayou will command
  34. 34قَالَتْqālatShe saidإِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُلُوكَl-mulūkathe kingsإِذَاidhāwhenدَخَلُواdakhalūthey enterقَرْيَةًqaryatana townأَفْسَدُوهَاafsadūhāthey ruin itوَجَعَلُواwajaʿalūand makeأَعِزَّةَaʿizzata(the) most honorableأَهْلِهَاahlihā(of) its peopleأَذِلَّةًadhillatan(the) lowestوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do
  35. 35وَإِنِّيwa-innīBut indeed I amمُرْسِلَةٌmur'silatungoing to sendإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themبِهَدِيَّةٍbihadiyyatina giftفَنَاظِرَةٌfanāẓiratunand seeبِمَbimawith whatيَرْجِعُyarjiʿureturnالْمُرْسَلُونَl-mur'salūnathe messengers
  36. 36فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَاءَjāacameسُلَيْمَانَsulaymāna(to) Sulaimanقَالَqālahe saidأَتُمِدُّونَنِatumiddūnaniWill you provide meبِمَالٍbimālinwith wealthفَمَاfamāBut whatءَاتَانِātāniyaAllah has given meاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has given meخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterمِمَّاmimmāthan whatءَاتَاكُمْātākumHe has given youبَلْbalNayأَنْتُمْantumyouبِهَدِيَّتِكُمْbihadiyyatikumin your giftتَفْرَحُونَtafraḥūnarejoice
  37. 37ارْجِعْir'jiʿReturnإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themفَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُمْfalanatiyannahumsurely we will come to themبِجُنُودٍbijunūdinwith hostsلَاnotقِبَلَqibala(is) resistanceلَهُمْlahumfor themبِهَاbihāof itوَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُمْwalanukh'rijannahumand surely we will drive them outمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom thereأَذِلَّةًadhillatan(in) humiliationوَهُمْwahumand theyصَاغِرُونَṣāghirūna(will be) abased
  38. 38قَالَqālaHe saidيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالْمَلَأُl-mala-uchiefs!أَيُّكُمْayyukumWhich of youيَأْتِينِيyatīnīwill bring meبِعَرْشِهَاbiʿarshihāher throneقَبْلَqablabeforeأَنْanthatيَأْتُونِيyatūnīthey come to meمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīna(in) submission
  39. 39قَالَqālaSaidعِفْرِيتٌʿif'rītuna strong oneمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinithe jinnأَنَاanāIءَاتِيكَātīkawill bring it to youبِهِbihiwill bring it to youقَبْلَqablabeforeأَنْan[that]تَقُومَtaqūmayou riseمِنْminfromمَقَامِكَmaqāmikayour placeوَإِنِّيwa-innīAnd indeed, I amعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itلَقَوِيٌّlaqawiyyunsurely, strongأَمِينٌamīnuntrustworthy
  40. 40قَالَqālaSaidالَّذِيalladhīone whoعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith himعِلْمٌʿil'mun(was) knowledgeمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe ScriptureأَنَاanāIءَاتِيكَātīkawill bring it to youبِهِbihiwill bring it to youقَبْلَqablabeforeأَنْan[that]يَرْتَدَّyartaddareturnsإِلَيْكَilaykato youطَرْفُكَṭarfukayour glanceفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenرَءَاهُraāhuhe saw itمُسْتَقِرًّاmus'taqirranplacedعِنْدَهُʿindahubefore himقَالَqālahe saidهَذَاhādhāThisمِنْmin(is) fromفَضْلِfaḍli(the) Favorرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordلِيَبْلُوَنِيliyabluwanīto test meءَأَشْكُرُa-ashkuruwhether I am gratefulأَمْamorأَكْفُرُakfuruI am ungratefulوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverشَكَرَshakara(is) gratefulفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَشْكُرُyashkuruhe is gratefulلِنَفْسِهِlinafsihifor his own soulوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverكَفَرَkafara(is) ungratefulفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordغَنِيٌّghaniyyun(is) Self-sufficientكَرِيمٌkarīmunNoble
  41. 41قَالَqālaHe saidنَكِّرُواnakkirūDisguiseلَهَاlahāfor herعَرْشَهَاʿarshahāher throneنَنْظُرْnanẓurwe will seeأَتَهْتَدِيatahtadīwhether she will be guidedأَمْamorتَكُونُtakūnuwill beمِنَminaofالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَاare not guidedيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnaare not guided
  42. 42فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَاءَتْjāatshe cameقِيلَqīlait was saidأَهَكَذَاahākadhāIs like thisعَرْشُكِʿarshukiyour throneقَالَتْqālatShe saidكَأَنَّهُka-annahuIt is likeهُوَhuwaitوَأُوتِينَاwaūtīnāAnd we were givenالْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeمِنْminbefore herقَبْلِهَاqablihābefore herوَكُنَّاwakunnāand we have beenمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīnaMuslims
  43. 43وَصَدَّهَاwaṣaddahāAnd has averted herمَاwhatكَانَتْkānatshe used (to)تَعْبُدُtaʿbuduworshipمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنَّهَاinnahāIndeed, sheكَانَتْkānatwasمِنْminfromقَوْمٍqawmina peopleكَافِرِينَkāfirīnawho disbelieve
  44. 44قِيلَqīlaIt was saidلَهَاlahāto herادْخُلِيud'khulīEnterالصَّرْحَl-ṣarḥathe palaceفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenرَأَتْهُra-athushe saw itحَسِبَتْهُḥasibathushe thought itلُجَّةًlujjatan(was) a poolوَكَشَفَتْwakashafatand she uncoveredعَنْʿan[on]سَاقَيْهَاsāqayhāher shinsقَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itصَرْحٌṣarḥun(is) a palaceمُمَرَّدٌmumarradunmade smoothمِنْminofقَوَارِيرَqawārīraglassقَالَتْqālatShe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordإِنِّيinnīindeed Iظَلَمْتُẓalamtu[I] have wrongedنَفْسِيnafsīmyselfوَأَسْلَمْتُwa-aslamtuand I submitمَعَmaʿawithسُلَيْمَانَsulaymānaSulaimanلِلَّهِlillahito Allahرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  45. 45وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentإِلَىilātoثَمُودَthamūdaThamudأَخَاهُمْakhāhumtheir brotherصَالِحًاṣāliḥanSalihأَنِanithatاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen behold!هُمْhumTheyفَرِيقَانِfarīqāni(became) two partiesيَخْتَصِمُونَyakhtaṣimūnaquarreling
  46. 46قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!لِمَlimaWhyتَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūna(do) you seek to hastenبِالسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atithe evilقَبْلَqablabeforeالْحَسَنَةِl-ḥasanatithe goodلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notتَسْتَغْفِرُونَtastaghfirūnayou ask forgivenessاللَّهَl-laha(of) Allahلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
  47. 47قَالُواqālūThey saidاطَّيَّرْنَاiṭṭayyarnāWe consider you a bad omenبِكَbikaWe consider you a bad omenوَبِمَنْwabimanand thoseمَعَكَmaʿakawith youقَالَqālaHe saidطَائِرُكُمْṭāirukumYour bad omenعِنْدَʿinda(is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبَلْbalNayأَنْتُمْantumyouقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleتُفْتَنُونَtuf'tanūnabeing tested
  48. 48وَكَانَwakānaAnd wereفِيinالْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe cityتِسْعَةُtis'ʿatunineرَهْطٍrahṭinfamily headsيُفْسِدُونَyuf'sidūnathey were spreading corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landوَلَاwalāand notيُصْلِحُونَyuṣ'liḥūnareforming
  49. 49قَالُواqālūThey saidتَقَاسَمُواtaqāsamūSwear to each otherبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahلَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُlanubayyitannahusurely we will attack him by nightوَأَهْلَهُwa-ahlahuand his familyثُمَّthummaThenلَنَقُولَنَّlanaqūlannawe will surely sayلِوَلِيِّهِliwaliyyihito his heirمَاNotشَهِدْنَاshahid'nāwe witnessedمَهْلِكَmahlika(the) destructionأَهْلِهِahlihi(of) his familyوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed weلَصَادِقُونَlaṣādiqūna(are) surely truthful."
  50. 50وَمَكَرُواwamakarūSo they plottedمَكْرًاmakrana plotوَمَكَرْنَاwamakarnāand We plannedمَكْرًاmakrana planوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
  51. 51فَانْظُرْfa-unẓurThen seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endمَكْرِهِمْmakrihim(of) their plotأَنَّاannāthat Weدَمَّرْنَاهُمْdammarnāhumdestroyed themوَقَوْمَهُمْwaqawmahumand their peopleأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  52. 52فَتِلْكَfatil'kaSo theseبُيُوتُهُمْbuyūtuhum(are) their housesخَاوِيَةًkhāwiyatanruinedبِمَاbimābecauseظَلَمُواẓalamūthey wrongedإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatansurely is a signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnawho know
  53. 53وَأَنْجَيْنَاwa-anjaynāAnd We savedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَكَانُواwakānūand used (to)يَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)
  54. 54وَلُوطًاwalūṭanAnd Lutإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saidلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleأَتَأْتُونَatatūnaDo you commitالْفَاحِشَةَl-fāḥishata[the] immoralityوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youتُبْصِرُونَtub'ṣirūnasee
  55. 55أَئِنَّكُمْa-innakumWhy do youلَتَأْتُونَlatatūnaapproachالرِّجَالَl-rijālathe menشَهْوَةًshahwatan(with) lustمِنْmininstead ofدُونِdūniinstead ofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenبَلْbalNayأَنْتُمْantumyouقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleتَجْهَلُونَtajhalūnaignorant
  56. 56فَمَاfamāBut notكَانَkānawasجَوَابَjawāba(the) answerقَوْمِهِqawmihi(of) his peopleإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidأَخْرِجُواakhrijūDrive outءَالَāla(the) familyلُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lutمِنْminfromقَرْيَتِكُمْqaryatikumyour townإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyأُنَاسٌunāsun(are) peopleيَتَطَهَّرُونَyataṭahharūnawho keep clean and pure
  57. 57فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُfa-anjaynāhuSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُwa-ahlahuand his familyإِلَّاillāexceptامْرَأَتَهُim'ra-atahuhis wifeقَدَّرْنَاهَاqaddarnāhāWe destined herمِنَmina(to be) ofالْغَابِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who remained behind
  58. 58وَأَمْطَرْنَاwa-amṭarnāAnd We rainedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themمَطَرًاmaṭarana rainفَسَاءَfasāaand was evilمَطَرُmaṭaru(the) rainالْمُنْذَرِينَl-mundharīna(on) those who were warned
  59. 59قُلِquliSayالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise (be)لِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَسَلَامٌwasalāmunand peace (be)عَلَىʿalāuponعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomاصْطَفَىiṣ'ṭafāHe has chosenءَاللَّهُāllahuIs Allahخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterأَمَّاammāor whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
  60. 60أَمَّنْammanOr Whoخَلَقَkhalaqahas createdالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaand sent downلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَنْبَتْنَاfa-anbatnāAnd We caused to growبِهِbihitherebyحَدَائِقَḥadāiqagardensذَاتَdhātaof beauty (and delight)بَهْجَةٍbahjatinof beauty (and delight)مَاnotكَانَkānait isلَكُمْlakumfor youأَنْanthatتُنْبِتُواtunbitūyou cause to growشَجَرَهَاshajarahātheir treesأَءِلَهٌa-ilāhunIs there any godمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبَلْbalNayهُمْhumtheyقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleيَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnawho ascribe equals
  61. 61أَمَّنْammanOr Whoجَعَلَjaʿalamadeالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthقَرَارًاqarārana firm abodeوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeخِلَالَهَاkhilālahā(in) its midstأَنْهَارًاanhāranriversوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeلَهَاlahāfor itرَوَاسِيَrawāsiyafirm mountainsوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeبَيْنَbaynabetweenالْبَحْرَيْنِl-baḥraynithe two seasحَاجِزًاḥājizana barrierأَءِلَهٌa-ilāhunIs there any godمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبَلْbalNayأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  62. 62أَمَّنْammanOr Whoيُجِيبُyujīburespondsالْمُضْطَرَّl-muḍ'ṭara(to) the distressed oneإِذَاidhāwhenدَعَاهُdaʿāhuhe calls Himوَيَكْشِفُwayakshifuand He removesالسُّوءَl-sūathe evilوَيَجْعَلُكُمْwayajʿalukumand makes youخُلَفَاءَkhulafāainheritorsالْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earthأَءِلَهٌa-ilāhunIs there any godمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَلِيلًاqalīlanLittleمَا(is) whatتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou remember
  63. 63أَمَّنْammanOr Whoيَهْدِيكُمْyahdīkumguides youفِيinظُلُمَاتِẓulumāti(the) darkness[es]الْبَرِّl-bari(of) the landوَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand the seaوَمَنْwamanand Whoيُرْسِلُyur'silusendsالرِّيَاحَl-riyāḥathe windsبُشْرًاbush'ran(as) glad tidingsبَيْنَbaynabeforeيَدَيْyadaybeforeرَحْمَتِهِraḥmatihiHis Mercyأَءِلَهٌa-ilāhunIs there any godمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahتَعَالَىtaʿālāHigh isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
  64. 64أَمَّنْammanOr Whoيَبْدَؤُاyabda-uoriginatesالْخَلْقَl-khalqathe creationثُمَّthummathenيُعِيدُهُyuʿīduhurepeats itوَمَنْwamanand Whoيَرْزُقُكُمْyarzuqukumprovides youمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthأَءِلَهٌa-ilāhunIs there any godمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقُلْqulSayهَاتُواhātūBring forthبُرْهَانَكُمْbur'hānakumyour proofإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  65. 65قُلْqulSayلَاNo (one)يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَنْmanwhoeverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthالْغَيْبَl-ghayba(of) the unseenإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَمَاwamāand notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceiveأَيَّانَayyānawhenيُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey will be resurrected
  66. 66بَلِbaliNayادَّارَكَiddārakais arrestedعِلْمُهُمْʿil'muhumtheir knowledgeفِيofالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe HereafterبَلْbalNayهُمْhumtheyفِي(are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِنْهَاmin'hāabout itبَلْbalNayهُمْhumtheyمِنْهَاmin'hāabout itعَمُونَʿamūna(are) blind
  67. 67وَقَالَwaqālaAnd sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveأَءِذَاa-idhāWhat whenكُنَّاkunnāwe have becomeتُرَابًاturābandustوَءَابَاؤُنَاwaābāunāand our forefathersأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَمُخْرَجُونَlamukh'rajūnasurely be brought out
  68. 68لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyوُعِدْنَاwuʿid'nāwe have been promisedهَذَاhādhāthisنَحْنُnaḥnuweوَءَابَاؤُنَاwaābāunāand our forefathersمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeإِنْinNotهَذَاhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillāexceptأَسَاطِيرُasāṭīrutalesالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
  69. 69قُلْqulSayسِيرُواsīrūTravelفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landفَانْظُرُواfa-unẓurūand seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
  70. 70وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَحْزَنْtaḥzangrieveعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَلَاwalāand notتَكُنْtakunbeفِيinضَيْقٍḍayqindistressمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatيَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnathey plot
  71. 71وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayمَتَىmatāWhenهَذَاhādhā(will) thisالْوَعْدُl-waʿdupromise (be fulfilled)إِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  72. 72قُلْqulSayعَسَىʿasāPerhapsأَنْanthatيَكُونَyakūnaisرَدِفَradifaclose behindلَكُمْlakumyouبَعْضُbaʿḍusomeالَّذِيalladhī(of) that whichتَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnayou seek to hasten
  73. 73وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَذُوladhū(is) full of Bountyفَضْلٍfaḍlin(is) full of Bountyعَلَىʿalāforالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَا(are) notيَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnagrateful
  74. 74وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَيَعْلَمُlayaʿlamusurely knowsمَاwhatتُكِنُّtukinnuconcealsصُدُورُهُمْṣudūruhumtheir breastsوَمَاwamāand whatيُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey declare
  75. 75وَمَاwamāAnd not (is)مِنْminany (thing)غَائِبَةٍghāibatinhiddenفِيinالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthإِلَّاillābutفِي(is) inكِتَابٍkitābina Recordمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  76. 76إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'āna[the] Quranيَقُصُّyaquṣṣurelatesعَلَىʿalātoبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelأَكْثَرَaktharamostالَّذِيalladhī(of) thatهُمْhumtheyفِيهِfīhiin itيَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnadiffer
  77. 77وَإِنَّهُwa-innahuAnd indeed itلَهُدًىlahudan(is) surely a guidanceوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand a mercyلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
  78. 78إِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordيَقْضِيyaqḍīwill judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themبِحُكْمِهِbiḥuk'mihiby His Judgmentوَهُوَwahuwaand Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
  79. 79فَتَوَكَّلْfatawakkalSo put your trustعَلَىʿalāinاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنَّكَinnakaindeed youعَلَىʿalā(are) onالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthالْمُبِينِl-mubīnimanifest
  80. 80إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youلَا(can)notتُسْمِعُtus'miʿucause to hearالْمَوْتَىl-mawtāthe deadوَلَاwalāand notتُسْمِعُtus'miʿucan you cause to hearالصُّمَّl-ṣumathe deafالدُّعَاءَl-duʿāathe callإِذَاidhāwhenوَلَّوْاwallawthey turn backمُدْبِرِينَmud'birīnaretreating
  81. 81وَمَاwamāAnd notأَنْتَanta(can) youبِهَادِيbihādīguideالْعُمْيِl-ʿum'yithe blindعَنْʿanfromضَلَالَتِهِمْḍalālatihimtheir errorإِنْinNotتُسْمِعُtus'miʿuyou can cause to hearإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(those) whoيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieveبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Signsفَهُمْfahumso theyمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) Muslims
  82. 82وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenوَقَعَwaqaʿa(is) fulfilledالْقَوْلُl-qawluthe wordعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themأَخْرَجْنَاakhrajnāWe will bring forthلَهُمْlahumfor themدَابَّةًdābbatana creatureمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthتُكَلِّمُهُمْtukallimuhumspeaking to themأَنَّannathatالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleكَانُواkānūwereبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināof Our Signsلَاnotيُوقِنُونَyūqinūnacertain
  83. 83وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayنَحْشُرُnaḥshuruWe will gatherمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍummatinnationفَوْجًاfawjana troopمِمَّنْmimmanof (those) whoيُكَذِّبُyukadhibudenyبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsفَهُمْfahumand theyيُوزَعُونَyūzaʿūnawill be set in rows
  84. 84حَتَّىḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءُوjāūthey comeقَالَqālaHe will sayأَكَذَّبْتُمْakadhabtumDid you denyبِءَايَاتِيbiāyātīMy Signsوَلَمْwalamwhile notتُحِيطُواtuḥīṭūyou encompassedبِهَاbihāthemعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledgeأَمَّاذَاammādhāor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  85. 85وَوَقَعَwawaqaʿaAnd (will be) fulfilledالْقَوْلُl-qawluthe wordعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themبِمَاbimābecauseظَلَمُواẓalamūthey wrongedفَهُمْfahumand theyلَا(will) notيَنْطِقُونَyanṭiqūnaspeak
  86. 86أَلَمْalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّاannāthat Weجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnā[We] have madeاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightلِيَسْكُنُواliyaskunūthat they may restفِيهِfīhiin itوَالنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayمُبْصِرًاmub'ṣirangiving visibilityإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  87. 87وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Dayيُنْفَخُyunfakhuwill be blownفِي[in]الصُّورِl-ṣūrithe trumpetفَفَزِعَfafaziʿaand will be terrifiedمَنْmanwhoeverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَنْwamanand whoeverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْmanwhomشَاءَshāaAllah willsاللَّهُl-lahuAllah willsوَكُلٌّwakullunAnd allأَتَوْهُatawhu(will) come to Himدَاخِرِينَdākhirīnahumbled
  88. 88وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you seeالْجِبَالَl-jibālathe mountainsتَحْسَبُهَاtaḥsabuhāthinking themجَامِدَةًjāmidatanfirmly fixedوَهِيَwahiyawhile theyتَمُرُّtamurruwill passمَرَّmarra(as the) passingالسَّحَابِl-saḥābi(of) the cloudsصُنْعَṣun'ʿa(The) Workاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahالَّذِيalladhīWhoأَتْقَنَatqanaperfectedكُلَّkullaallشَيْءٍshayinthingsإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou do
  89. 89مَنْmanWhoeverجَاءَjāacomesبِالْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith the goodفَلَهُfalahuthen for himخَيْرٌkhayrun(will be) betterمِنْهَاmin'hāthan itوَهُمْwahumand theyمِنْminfromفَزَعٍfazaʿin(the) terrorيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(of) that Dayءَامِنُونَāminūna(will be) safe
  90. 90وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverجَاءَjāacomesبِالسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atiwith the evilفَكُبَّتْfakubbatwill be cast downوُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhumtheir facesفِيinالنَّارِl-nārithe FireهَلْhalAreتُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou recompensedإِلَّاillāexceptمَا(for) whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  91. 91إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأُمِرْتُumir'tuI am commandedأَنْanthatأَعْبُدَaʿbudaI worshipرَبَّrabba(the) Lordهَذِهِhādhihi(of) thisالْبَلْدَةِl-baldaticityالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoحَرَّمَهَاḥarramahāmade it sacredوَلَهُwalahuand to Him (belongs)كُلُّkulluallشَيْءٍshayinthingsوَأُمِرْتُwa-umir'tuAnd I am commandedأَنْanthatأَكُونَakūnaI beمِنَminaofالْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnathe Muslims
  92. 92وَأَنْwa-anAnd thatأَتْلُوَatluwāI reciteالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe QuranفَمَنِfamaniAnd whoeverاهْتَدَىih'tadāaccepts guidanceفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَهْتَدِيyahtadīhe accepts guidanceلِنَفْسِهِlinafsihifor himselfوَمَنْwamanand whoeverضَلَّḍallagoes astrayفَقُلْfaqulthen sayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنَاanāI amمِنَminaofالْمُنْذِرِينَl-mundhirīnathe warners
  93. 93وَقُلِwaquliAnd sayالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praise (be)لِلَّهِlillahito AllahسَيُرِيكُمْsayurīkumHe will show youءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Signsفَتَعْرِفُونَهَاfataʿrifūnahāand you will recognize themوَمَاwamāAnd your Lord is notرَبُّكَrabbukaAnd your Lord is notبِغَافِلٍbighāfilinunawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
