بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 24 — An-Noor

  1. 1سُورَةٌsūratunA SurahأَنْزَلْنَاهَاanzalnāhāWe (have) sent it downوَفَرَضْنَاهَاwafaraḍnāhāand We (have) made it obligatoryوَأَنْزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāand We (have) revealedفِيهَاfīhāthereinءَايَاتٍāyātinVersesبَيِّنَاتٍbayyinātinclearلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnatake heed
  2. 2الزَّانِيَةُal-zāniyatuThe fornicatressوَالزَّانِيwal-zānīand the fornicatorفَاجْلِدُواfa-ij'lidū[then] flogكُلَّkullaeachوَاحِدٍwāḥidinoneمِنْهُمَاmin'humāof themمِائَةَmi-ata(with) hundredجَلْدَةٍjaldatinlash(es)وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notتَأْخُذْكُمْtakhudh'kumwithhold youبِهِمَاbihimāpity for themرَأْفَةٌrafatunpity for themفِيconcerningدِينِdīni(the) religionاللَّهِl-lahiof Allahإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتُؤْمِنُونَtu'minūnabelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe LastوَلْيَشْهَدْwalyashhadAnd let witnessعَذَابَهُمَاʿadhābahumātheir punishmentطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنَminaofالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
  3. 3الزَّانِيal-zānīThe fornicatorلَا(will) notيَنْكِحُyankiḥumarryإِلَّاillāexceptزَانِيَةًzāniyatana fornicatressأَوْaworمُشْرِكَةًmush'rikatana polytheist womanوَالزَّانِيَةُwal-zāniyatuand the fornicatressلَا(will) notيَنْكِحُهَاyankiḥuhāmarry herإِلَّاillāexceptزَانٍzānina fornicatorأَوْaworمُشْرِكٌmush'rikuna polytheist manوَحُرِّمَwaḥurrimaAnd is forbiddenذَلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalātoالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
  4. 4وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيَرْمُونَyarmūnaaccuseالْمُحْصَنَاتِl-muḥ'ṣanātithe chaste womenثُمَّthummathenلَمْlamnotيَأْتُواyatūthey bringبِأَرْبَعَةِbi-arbaʿatifourشُهَدَاءَshuhadāawitnessesفَاجْلِدُوهُمْfa-ij'lidūhumthen flog themثَمَانِينَthamānīna(with) eightyجَلْدَةًjaldatanlashe(s)وَلَاwalāand (do) notتَقْبَلُواtaqbalūacceptلَهُمْlahumtheirشَهَادَةًshahādatantestimonyأَبَدًاabadaneverوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseهُمُhumutheyالْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
  5. 5إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَابُواtābūrepentمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatوَأَصْلَحُواwa-aṣlaḥūand reformفَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  6. 6وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيَرْمُونَyarmūnaaccuseأَزْوَاجَهُمْazwājahumtheir spousesوَلَمْwalamand notيَكُنْyakunhaveلَهُمْlahumfor themشُهَدَاءُshuhadāuwitnessesإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْفُسُهُمْanfusuhumthemselvesفَشَهَادَةُfashahādatuthen (the) testimonyأَحَدِهِمْaḥadihim(of) one of themأَرْبَعُarbaʿu(is) fourشَهَادَاتٍshahādātintestimoniesبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahإِنَّهُinnahuthat heلَمِنَlamina(is) surely ofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
  7. 7وَالْخَامِسَةُwal-khāmisatuAnd the fifthأَنَّannathatلَعْنَةَlaʿnata(the) curse of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) curse of Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhi(be) upon himإِنْinifكَانَkānahe isمِنَminaofالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
  8. 8وَيَدْرَؤُاwayadra-uBut it would preventعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom herالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentأَنْanthatتَشْهَدَtashhadashe bears witnessأَرْبَعَarbaʿafourشَهَادَاتٍshahādātintestimoniesبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahإِنَّهُinnahuthat heلَمِنَlamina(is) surely ofالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
  9. 9وَالْخَامِسَةَwal-khāmisataAnd the fifthأَنَّannathatغَضَبَghaḍabathe wrath of Allahاللَّهِl-lahithe wrath of Allahعَلَيْهَاʿalayhā(be) upon herإِنْinifكَانَkānahe isمِنَminaofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
  10. 10وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(for) the Grace of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(for) the Grace of Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahتَوَّابٌtawwābun(is) Oft-Returning (to Mercy)حَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
  11. 11إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoجَاءُوjāūbroughtبِالْإِفْكِbil-if'kithe lieعُصْبَةٌʿuṣ'batun(are) a groupمِنْكُمْminkumamong youلَا(Do) notتَحْسَبُوهُtaḥsabūhuthink itشَرًّاsharranbadلَكُمْlakumfor youبَلْbalnayهُوَhuwaitخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) goodلَكُمْlakumfor youلِكُلِّlikulliFor everyامْرِئٍim'ri-inpersonمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themمَا(is) whatاكْتَسَبَik'tasabahe earnedمِنَminaofالْإِثْمِl-ith'mithe sinوَالَّذِيwa-alladhīand the one whoتَوَلَّىtawallātook upon himself a greater share of itكِبْرَهُkib'rahutook upon himself a greater share of itمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَهُlahufor himعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  12. 12لَوْلَاlawlāWhy notإِذْidhwhenسَمِعْتُمُوهُsamiʿ'tumūhuyou heard itظَنَّẓannathinkالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believing menوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتُwal-mu'minātuand the believing womenبِأَنْفُسِهِمْbi-anfusihimgood of themselvesخَيْرًاkhayrangood of themselvesوَقَالُواwaqālūand sayهَذَاhādhāThisإِفْكٌif'kun(is) a lieمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  13. 13لَوْلَاlawlāWhy (did) notجَاءُوjāūthey bringعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itبِأَرْبَعَةِbi-arbaʿatifourشُهَدَاءَshuhadāawitnessesفَإِذْfa-idhThen whenلَمْlamnotيَأْتُواyatūthey broughtبِالشُّهَدَاءِbil-shuhadāithe witnessesفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseعِنْدَʿindanear Allahاللَّهِl-lahinear Allahهُمُhumutheyالْكَاذِبُونَl-kādhibūna(are) the liars
  14. 14وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(for the) Graceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the Hereafterلَمَسَّكُمْlamassakumsurely would have touched youفِيinمَاwhatأَفَضْتُمْafaḍtumyou had rushed gliblyفِيهِfīhiconcerning itعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  15. 15إِذْidhWhenتَلَقَّوْنَهُtalaqqawnahuyou received itبِأَلْسِنَتِكُمْbi-alsinatikumwith your tonguesوَتَقُولُونَwataqūlūnaand you saidبِأَفْوَاهِكُمْbi-afwāhikumwith your mouthsمَاwhatلَيْسَlaysanotلَكُمْlakumfor youبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munany knowledgeوَتَحْسَبُونَهُwataḥsabūnahuand you thought itهَيِّنًاhayyinan(was) insignificantوَهُوَwahuwawhile itعِنْدَʿinda(was) near Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(was) near Allahعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  16. 16وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd why notإِذْidhwhenسَمِعْتُمُوهُsamiʿ'tumūhuyou heard itقُلْتُمْqul'tumyou saidمَاNotيَكُونُyakūnuit isلَنَاlanāfor usأَنْanthatنَتَكَلَّمَnatakallamawe speakبِهَذَاbihādhāof thisسُبْحَانَكَsub'ḥānakaGlory be to You!هَذَاhādhāThisبُهْتَانٌbuh'tānun(is) a slanderعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  17. 17يَعِظُكُمَyaʿiẓukumuAllah warns youاللَّهُl-lahuAllah warns youأَنْanthatتَعُودُواtaʿūdūyou returnلِمِثْلِهِlimith'lihi(to the) like of itأَبَدًاabadaneverإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  18. 18وَيُبَيِّنُwayubayyinuAnd Allah makes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah makes clearلَكُمُlakumuto youالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
  19. 19إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُحِبُّونَyuḥibbūnalikeأَنْanthatتَشِيعَtashīʿa(should) spreadالْفَاحِشَةُl-fāḥishatuthe immoralityفِيamongالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainfulفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the Hereafterوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youلَا(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  20. 20وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(for the) Grace of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(for the) Grace of Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyوَأَنَّwa-annaAnd thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَءُوفٌraūfun(is) Full of KindnessرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  21. 21يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO (you who)الَّذِينَalladhīna(O) you whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَا(Do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowخُطُوَاتِkhuṭuwāti(the) footstepsالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيَتَّبِعْyattabiʿfollowsخُطُوَاتِkhuṭuwāti(the) footstepsالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed, heيَأْمُرُyamurucommandsبِالْفَحْشَاءِbil-faḥshāithe immoralityوَالْمُنْكَرِwal-munkariand the evilوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(for the) Grace of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(for the) Grace of Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyمَاnotزَكَىzakā(would) have been pureمِنْكُمْminkumamong youمِنْminanyoneأَحَدٍaḥadinanyoneأَبَدًاabadaneverوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُزَكِّيyuzakkīpurifiesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearerعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knower
  22. 22وَلَاwalāAnd notيَأْتَلِyatalilet swearأُولُواulūthose of virtueالْفَضْلِl-faḍlithose of virtueمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَالسَّعَةِwal-saʿatiand the amplitude of meansأَنْanthatيُؤْتُواyu'tūthey giveأُولِيulī(to) the near of kinالْقُرْبَىl-qur'bā(to) the near of kinوَالْمَسَاكِينَwal-masākīnaand the needyوَالْمُهَاجِرِينَwal-muhājirīnaand the emigrantsفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahوَلْيَعْفُواwalyaʿfūAnd let them pardonوَلْيَصْفَحُواwalyaṣfaḥūand let them overlookأَلَاalā(Do) notتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnayou likeأَنْanthatيَغْفِرَyaghfiraAllah should forgiveاللَّهُl-lahuAllah should forgiveلَكُمْlakumyouوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  23. 23إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَرْمُونَyarmūnaaccuseالْمُحْصَنَاتِl-muḥ'ṣanātithe chaste womenالْغَافِلَاتِl-ghāfilātithe unaware womenالْمُؤْمِنَاتِl-mu'mināti(and) the believing womenلُعِنُواluʿinūare cursedفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the HereafterوَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  24. 24يَوْمَyawma(On a) Dayتَشْهَدُtashhaduwill bear witnessعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themأَلْسِنَتُهُمْalsinatuhumtheir tonguesوَأَيْدِيهِمْwa-aydīhimand their handsوَأَرْجُلُهُمْwa-arjuluhumand their feetبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey usedيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūna(to) do
  25. 25يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinThat DayيُوَفِّيهِمُyuwaffīhimuAllah will pay them in fullاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will pay them in fullدِينَهُمُdīnahumutheir recompenseالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe dueوَيَعْلَمُونَwayaʿlamūnaand they will knowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the Truthالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuthe Manifest
  26. 26الْخَبِيثَاتُal-khabīthātuEvil womenلِلْخَبِيثِينَlil'khabīthīna(are) for evil menوَالْخَبِيثُونَwal-khabīthūnaand evil menلِلْخَبِيثَاتِlil'khabīthāti(are) for evil womenوَالطَّيِّبَاتُwal-ṭayibātuAnd good womenلِلطَّيِّبِينَlilṭṭayyibīna(are) for good menوَالطَّيِّبُونَwal-ṭayibūnaand good menلِلطَّيِّبَاتِlilṭṭayyibāti(are) for good womenأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseمُبَرَّءُونَmubarraūna(are) innocentمِمَّاmimmāof whatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayلَهُمْlahumFor themمَغْفِرَةٌmaghfiratun(is) forgivenessوَرِزْقٌwariz'qunand a provisionكَرِيمٌkarīmunnoble
  27. 27يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!لَا(Do) notتَدْخُلُواtadkhulūenterبُيُوتًاbuyūtanhousesغَيْرَghayraother (than)بُيُوتِكُمْbuyūtikumyour housesحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَسْتَأْنِسُواtastanisūyou have asked permissionوَتُسَلِّمُواwatusallimūand you have greetedعَلَىʿalā[on]أَهْلِهَاahlihāits inhabitantsذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestلَكُمْlakumfor youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnapay heed
  28. 28فَإِنْfa-inBut ifلَمْlamnotتَجِدُواtajidūyou findفِيهَاfīhāin itأَحَدًاaḥadananyoneفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَدْخُلُوهَاtadkhulūhāenter itحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُؤْذَنَyu'dhanapermission has been givenلَكُمْlakumto youوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifقِيلَqīlait is saidلَكُمُlakumuto youارْجِعُواir'jiʿūGo backفَارْجِعُواfa-ir'jiʿūthen go backهُوَhuwaitأَزْكَىazkā(is) purerلَكُمْlakumfor youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
  29. 29لَيْسَlaysaNotعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youجُنَاحٌjunāḥun(is) any blameأَنْanthatتَدْخُلُواtadkhulūyou enterبُيُوتًاbuyūtanhousesغَيْرَghayranotمَسْكُونَةٍmaskūnatininhabitedفِيهَاfīhāin itمَتَاعٌmatāʿun(is) a provisionلَكُمْlakumfor youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاwhatتُبْدُونَtub'dūnayou revealوَمَاwamāand whatتَكْتُمُونَtaktumūnayou conceal
  30. 30قُلْqulSayلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnato the believing menيَغُضُّواyaghuḍḍūthey should lowerمِنْmintheir gazeأَبْصَارِهِمْabṣārihimtheir gazeوَيَحْفَظُواwayaḥfaẓūand they should guardفُرُوجَهُمْfurūjahumtheir chastityذَلِكَdhālikaThatأَزْكَىazkā(is) purerلَهُمْlahumfor themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatيَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnathey do
  31. 31وَقُلْwaqulAnd sayلِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِlil'mu'minātito the believing womenيَغْضُضْنَyaghḍuḍ'na(that) they should lowerمِنْmin[of]أَبْصَارِهِنَّabṣārihinnatheir gazeوَيَحْفَظْنَwayaḥfaẓnaand they should guardفُرُوجَهُنَّfurūjahunnatheir chastityوَلَاwalāand notيُبْدِينَyub'dīna(to) displayزِينَتَهُنَّzīnatahunnatheir adornmentإِلَّاillāexceptمَاwhatظَهَرَẓaharais apparentمِنْهَاmin'hāof itوَلْيَضْرِبْنَwalyaḍrib'naAnd let them drawبِخُمُرِهِنَّbikhumurihinnatheir head coversعَلَىʿalāoverجُيُوبِهِنَّjuyūbihinnatheir bosomsوَلَاwalāand notيُبْدِينَyub'dīna(to) displayزِينَتَهُنَّzīnatahunnatheir adornmentإِلَّاillāexceptلِبُعُولَتِهِنَّlibuʿūlatihinnato their husbandsأَوْaworءَابَائِهِنَّābāihinnatheir fathersأَوْaworءَابَاءِābāifathersبُعُولَتِهِنَّbuʿūlatihinna(of) their husbandsأَوْaworأَبْنَائِهِنَّabnāihinnatheir sonsأَوْaworأَبْنَاءِabnāisonsبُعُولَتِهِنَّbuʿūlatihinna(of) their husbandsأَوْaworإِخْوَانِهِنَّikh'wānihinnatheir brothersأَوْaworبَنِيbanīsonsإِخْوَانِهِنَّikh'wānihinna(of) their brothersأَوْaworبَنِيbanīsonsأَخَوَاتِهِنَّakhawātihinna(of) their sistersأَوْaworنِسَائِهِنَّnisāihinnatheir womenأَوْaworمَاwhatمَلَكَتْmalakatpossessأَيْمَانُهُنَّaymānuhunnatheir right handsأَوِawiorالتَّابِعِينَl-tābiʿīnathe attendantsغَيْرِghayrihaving no physical desireأُولِيulīhaving no physical desireالْإِرْبَةِl-ir'batihaving no physical desireمِنَminaamongالرِّجَالِl-rijāli[the] menأَوِawiorالطِّفْلِl-ṭif'li[the] childrenالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoلَمْlam(are) notيَظْهَرُواyaẓharūawareعَلَىʿalāofعَوْرَاتِʿawrātiprivate aspectsالنِّسَاءِl-nisāi(of) the womenوَلَاwalāAnd notيَضْرِبْنَyaḍrib'nalet them stampبِأَرْجُلِهِنَّbi-arjulihinnatheir feetلِيُعْلَمَliyuʿ'lamato make knownمَاwhatيُخْفِينَyukh'fīnathey concealمِنْminofزِينَتِهِنَّzīnatihinnatheir adornmentوَتُوبُواwatūbūAnd turnإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahجَمِيعًاjamīʿanaltogetherأَيُّهَayyuhaO believersالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnaO believersلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumSo that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnasucceed
  32. 32وَأَنْكِحُواwa-ankiḥūAnd marryالْأَيَامَىl-ayāmāthe singleمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَالصَّالِحِينَwal-ṣāliḥīnaand the righteousمِنْminamongعِبَادِكُمْʿibādikumyour male slavesوَإِمَائِكُمْwa-imāikumand your female slavesإِنْinIfيَكُونُواyakūnūthey areفُقَرَاءَfuqarāapoorيُغْنِهِمُyugh'nihimuAllah will enrich themاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will enrich themمِنْminfromفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahوَاسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
  33. 33وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِwalyastaʿfifiAnd let be chasteالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَا(do) notيَجِدُونَyajidūnafindنِكَاحًاnikāḥan(means for) marriageحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُغْنِيَهُمُyugh'niyahumuAllah enriches themاللَّهُl-lahuAllah enriches themمِنْminfromفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe writingمِمَّاmimmāfrom (those) whomمَلَكَتْmalakatpossessأَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handsفَكَاتِبُوهُمْfakātibūhumthen give them (the) writingإِنْinifعَلِمْتُمْʿalim'tumyou knowفِيهِمْfīhimin themخَيْرًاkhayranany goodوَءَاتُوهُمْwaātūhumand give themمِنْminfromمَالِmālithe wealth of Allahاللَّهِl-lahithe wealth of AllahالَّذِيalladhīwhichءَاتَاكُمْātākumHe has given youوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُكْرِهُواtuk'rihūcompelفَتَيَاتِكُمْfatayātikumyour slave girlsعَلَىʿalātoالْبِغَاءِl-bighāi[the] prostitutionإِنْinifأَرَدْنَaradnathey desireتَحَصُّنًاtaḥaṣṣunanchastityلِتَبْتَغُواlitabtaghūthat you may seekعَرَضَʿaraḍatemporary gainالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati(of) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُكْرِهُّنَّyuk'rihhunnacompels themفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterإِكْرَاهِهِنَّik'rāhihinnatheir compulsionغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  34. 34وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe have sent downإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youءَايَاتٍāyātinVersesمُبَيِّنَاتٍmubayyinātinclearوَمَثَلًاwamathalanand an exampleمِنَminaofالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoخَلَوْاkhalawpassed awayمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَمَوْعِظَةًwamawʿiẓatanand an admonitionلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor those who fear (Allah)
  35. 35اللَّهُal-lahuAllahنُورُnūru(is the) Lightالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthمَثَلُmathalu(The) exampleنُورِهِnūrihi(of) His Lightكَمِشْكَاةٍkamish'katin(is) like a nicheفِيهَاfīhāin itمِصْبَاحٌmiṣ'bāḥun(is) a lampالْمِصْبَاحُl-miṣ'bāḥuthe lampفِي(is) inزُجَاجَةٍzujājatina glassالزُّجَاجَةُl-zujājatuthe glassكَأَنَّهَاka-annahāas if it wereكَوْكَبٌkawkabuna starدُرِّيٌّdurriyyunbrilliantيُوقَدُyūqadu(which) is litمِنْminfromشَجَرَةٍshajaratina treeمُبَارَكَةٍmubārakatinblessedزَيْتُونَةٍzaytūnatinan oliveلَاnotشَرْقِيَّةٍsharqiyyatin(of the) eastوَلَاwalāand notغَرْبِيَّةٍgharbiyyatin(of the) westيَكَادُyakāduwould almostزَيْتُهَاzaytuhāits oilيُضِيءُyuḍīuglowوَلَوْwalaweven ifلَمْlamnotتَمْسَسْهُtamsashutouched itنَارٌnārunfireنُورٌnūrunLightعَلَىʿalāuponنُورٍnūrinLightيَهْدِيyahdīAllah guidesاللَّهُl-lahuAllah guidesلِنُورِهِlinūrihito His LightمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَضْرِبُwayaḍribuAnd Allah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah sets forthالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe examplesلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
  36. 36فِيInبُيُوتٍbuyūtinhousesأَذِنَadhina(which) Allah orderedاللَّهُl-lahu(which) Allah orderedأَنْanthatتُرْفَعَtur'faʿathey be raisedوَيُذْكَرَwayudh'karaand be mentionedفِيهَاfīhāin themاسْمُهُus'muhuHis nameيُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuGlorifyلَهُlahu[to] Himفِيهَاfīhāin themبِالْغُدُوِّbil-ghuduwiin the morningsوَالْءَاصَالِwal-āṣāliand (in) the evenings
  37. 37رِجَالٌrijālunMenلَاnotتُلْهِيهِمْtul'hīhimdistracts themتِجَارَةٌtijāratuntradeوَلَاwalāand notبَيْعٌbayʿunsaleعَنْʿanfromذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembrance of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) remembrance of Allahوَإِقَامِwa-iqāmiand (from) establishingالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerوَإِيتَاءِwaītāiand givingالزَّكَوةِl-zakatizakahيَخَافُونَyakhāfūnaThey fearيَوْمًاyawmana Dayتَتَقَلَّبُtataqallabuwill turn aboutفِيهِfīhithereinالْقُلُوبُl-qulūbuthe heartsوَالْأَبْصَارُwal-abṣāruand the eyes
  38. 38لِيَجْزِيَهُمُliyajziyahumuThat Allah may reward themاللَّهُl-lahuThat Allah may reward themأَحْسَنَaḥsana(with the) bestمَا(of) whatعَمِلُواʿamilūthey didوَيَزِيدَهُمْwayazīdahumand increase themمِنْminfromفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd AllahيَرْزُقُyarzuquprovidesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحِسَابٍḥisābinmeasure
  39. 39وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveأَعْمَالُهُمْaʿmāluhumtheir deedsكَسَرَابٍkasarābin(are) like a mirageبِقِيعَةٍbiqīʿatinin a lowlandيَحْسَبُهُyaḥsabuhuthinks itالظَّمْءَانُl-ẓamānuthe thirsty oneمَاءًmāan(to be) waterحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَهُjāahuhe comes to itلَمْlamnotيَجِدْهُyajid'huhe finds itشَيْئًاshayan(to be) anythingوَوَجَدَwawajadabut he findsاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعِنْدَهُʿindahubefore himفَوَفَّاهُfawaffāhuHe will pay him in fullحِسَابَهُḥisābahuhis dueوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in) the account
  40. 40أَوْawOrكَظُلُمَاتٍkaẓulumātin(is) like (the) darkness[es]فِيinبَحْرٍbaḥrina seaلُجِّيٍّlujjiyyindeepيَغْشَاهُyaghshāhucovers itمَوْجٌmawjuna waveمِنْminon itفَوْقِهِfawqihion itمَوْجٌmawjuna waveمِنْminon itفَوْقِهِfawqihion itسَحَابٌsaḥābuna cloudظُلُمَاتٌẓulumātundarkness[es]بَعْضُهَاbaʿḍuhāsome of itفَوْقَfawqaonبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersإِذَاidhāWhenأَخْرَجَakhrajahe puts outيَدَهُyadahuhis handلَمْlamhardlyيَكَدْyakadhardlyيَرَاهَاyarāhāhe (can) see itوَمَنْwamanAnd (for) whomلَمْlamnotيَجْعَلِyajʿaliAllah (has) madeاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has) madeلَهُlahufor himنُورًاnūrana lightفَمَاfamāthen notلَهُlahufor himمِنْmin(is) anyنُورٍnūrinlight
  41. 41أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuglorifyلَهُlahuHimمَنْmanwhoeverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَالطَّيْرُwal-ṭayruand the birdsصَافَّاتٍṣāffātin(with) wings outspreadكُلٌّkullunEach oneقَدْqadverilyعَلِمَʿalimaknowsصَلَاتَهُṣalātahuits prayerوَتَسْبِيحَهُwatasbīḥahuand its glorificationوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowerبِمَاbimāof whatيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnathey do
  42. 42وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allah (belongs)مُلْكُmul'ku(the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination
  43. 43أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُزْجِيyuz'jīdrivesسَحَابًاsaḥābancloudsثُمَّthummathenيُؤَلِّفُyu-allifujoinsبَيْنَهُbaynahubetween themثُمَّthummathenيَجْعَلُهُyajʿaluhumakes themرُكَامًاrukāman(into) a massفَتَرَىfatarāthen you seeالْوَدْقَl-wadqathe rainيَخْرُجُyakhrujucome forthمِنْminfromخِلَالِهِkhilālihitheir midstوَيُنَزِّلُwayunazziluAnd He sends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāi(the) skyمِنْmin[from]جِبَالٍjibālinmountainsفِيهَاfīhāwithin itمِنْmin[of]بَرَدٍbaradin(is) hailفَيُصِيبُfayuṣībuand He strikesبِهِbihiwith itمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَصْرِفُهُwayaṣrifuhuand averts itعَنْʿanfromمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsيَكَادُyakāduNearlyسَنَاsanā(the) flashبَرْقِهِbarqihi(of) its lightingيَذْهَبُyadhhabutakes awayبِالْأَبْصَارِbil-abṣārithe sight
  44. 44يُقَلِّبُyuqallibuAllah alternatesاللَّهُl-lahuAllah alternatesاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَالنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَعِبْرَةًlaʿib'ratansurely is a lessonلِأُولِيli-ulīfor those who have visionالْأَبْصَارِl-abṣārifor those who have vision
  45. 45وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedكُلَّkullaeveryدَابَّةٍdābbatinmoving creatureمِنْminfromمَاءٍmāinwaterفَمِنْهُمْfamin'humOf themمَنْman(is a kind) whoيَمْشِيyamshīwalksعَلَىʿalāonبَطْنِهِbaṭnihiits bellyوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(is a kind) whoيَمْشِيyamshīwalksعَلَىʿalāonرِجْلَيْنِrij'laynitwo legsوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(is a kind) whoيَمْشِيyamshīwalksعَلَىʿalāonأَرْبَعٍarbaʿinfourيَخْلُقُyakhluquAllah createsاللَّهُl-lahuAllah createsمَاwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrun(is) All-Powerful
  46. 46لَقَدْlaqadVerilyأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe have sent downءَايَاتٍāyātinVersesمُبَيِّنَاتٍmubayyinātinclearوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd AllahيَهْدِيyahdīguidesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
  47. 47وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَبِالرَّسُولِwabil-rasūliand in the Messengerوَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnāand we obeyثُمَّthummaThenيَتَوَلَّىyatawallāturns awayفَرِيقٌfarīquna partyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatوَمَاwamāAnd notأُولَئِكَulāikathoseبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīna(are) believers
  48. 48وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenدُعُواduʿūthey are calledإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerلِيَحْكُمَliyaḥkumato judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themإِذَاidhābeholdفَرِيقٌfarīquna partyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمُعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūna(is) averse
  49. 49وَإِنْwa-inBut ifيَكُنْyakunisلَهُمُlahumuwith themالْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthيَأْتُواyatūthey comeإِلَيْهِilayhito himمُذْعِنِينَmudh'ʿinīna(as) promptly obedient
  50. 50أَفِيafīIs (there) inقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsمَرَضٌmaraḍuna diseaseأَمِamiorارْتَابُواir'tābūdo they doubtأَمْamorيَخَافُونَyakhāfūnathey fearأَنْanthatيَحِيفَyaḥīfaAllah will be unjustاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will be unjustعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themوَرَسُولُهُwarasūluhuand His MessengerبَلْbalNayأُولَئِكَulāikathoseهُمُhumu[they]الظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
  51. 51إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyكَانَkānaisقَوْلَqawla(the) statementالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersإِذَاidhāwhenدُعُواduʿūthey are calledإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerلِيَحْكُمَliyaḥkumato judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themأَنْan(is) thatيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey sayسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe hearوَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnāand we obeyوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful
  52. 52وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerوَيَخْشَwayakhshaand fearsاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَيَتَّقْهِwayattaqhiand (is) conscious of Himفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْفَائِزُونَl-fāizūna(are) the successful ones
  53. 53وَأَقْسَمُواwa-aqsamūAnd they swearبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahجَهْدَjahdastrongأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihimtheir oathsلَئِنْla-inthat ifأَمَرْتَهُمْamartahumyou ordered themلَيَخْرُجُنَّlayakhrujunnasurely they (would) go forthقُلْqulSayلَا(Do) notتُقْسِمُواtuq'simūswearطَاعَةٌṭāʿatunObedienceمَعْرُوفَةٌmaʿrūfatun(is) knownإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  54. 54قُلْqulSayأَطِيعُواaṭīʿūObeyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūand obeyالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerفَإِنْfa-inbut ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawyou turn awayفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon himمَا(is) whatحُمِّلَḥummila(is) placed on himوَعَلَيْكُمْwaʿalaykumand on youمَا(is) whatحُمِّلْتُمْḥummil'tum(is) placed on youوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُطِيعُوهُtuṭīʿūhuyou obey himتَهْتَدُواtahtadūyou will be guidedوَمَاwamāAnd notعَلَىʿalā(is) onالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerإِلَّاillāexceptالْبَلَاغُl-balāghuthe conveyanceالْمُبِينُl-mubīnu[the] clear
  55. 55وَعَدَwaʿadaAllah (has) promisedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has) promisedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsلَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْlayastakhlifannahumsurely He will grant them successionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthكَمَاkamāasاسْتَخْلَفَis'takhlafaHe gave successionالَّذِينَalladhīnato those whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themوَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّwalayumakkinannaand that He will surely establishلَهُمْlahumfor themدِينَهُمُdīnahumutheir religionالَّذِيalladhīwhichارْتَضَىir'taḍāHe has approvedلَهُمْlahumfor themوَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُمْwalayubaddilannahumand surely He will change for themمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterخَوْفِهِمْkhawfihimtheir fearأَمْنًاamnansecurityيَعْبُدُونَنِيyaʿbudūnanī(for) they worship Meلَاnotيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associateبِيwith MeشَيْئًاshayananythingوَمَنْwamanBut whoeverكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
  56. 56وَأَقِيمُواwa-aqīmūAnd establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتُواwaātūand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūand obeyالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
  57. 57لَا(Do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveمُعْجِزِينَmuʿ'jizīna(can) escapeفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَمَأْوَاهُمُwamawāhumuAnd their abodeالنَّارُl-nāru(will be) the Fireوَلَبِئْسَwalabi'saand wretched isالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīruthe destination
  58. 58يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeالَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُواāmanūO you who believeلِيَسْتَءْذِنكُمُliyastadhinkumuLet ask your permissionالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomمَلَكَتْmalakatpossessأَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handsوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoلَمْlam(have) notيَبْلُغُواyablughūreachedالْحُلُمَl-ḥulumapubertyمِنْكُمْminkumamong youثَلَاثَthalātha(at) threeمَرَّاتٍmarrātintimesمِنْminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeصَلَوةِṣalati(the) prayerالْفَجْرِl-fajri(of) dawnوَحِينَwaḥīnaand whenتَضَعُونَtaḍaʿūnayou put asideثِيَابَكُمْthiyābakumyour garmentsمِنَminaatالظَّهِيرَةِl-ẓahīratinoonوَمِنْwaminand afterبَعْدِbaʿdiand afterصَلَوةِṣalati(the) prayerالْعِشَاءِl-ʿishāi(of) nightثَلَاثُthalāthu(These) threeعَوْرَاتٍʿawrātin(are) times of privacyلَكُمْlakumfor youلَيْسَlaysaNotعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youوَلَاwalāand notعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themجُنَاحٌjunāḥunany blameبَعْدَهُنَّbaʿdahunnaafter thatطَوَّافُونَṭawwāfūna(as) moving aboutعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumamong youبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumsome of youعَلَىʿalāamongبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُبَيِّنُyubayyinuAllah makes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllah makes clearلَكُمُlakumufor youالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
  59. 59وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenبَلَغَbalaghareachالْأَطْفَالُl-aṭfāluthe childrenمِنْكُمُminkumuamong youالْحُلُمَl-ḥulumathe pubertyفَلْيَسْتَءْذِنُواfalyastadhinūthen let them ask permissionكَمَاkamāasاسْتَءْذَنَis'tadhanaasked permissionالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُبَيِّنُyubayyinuAllah makes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllah makes clearلَكُمْlakumfor youءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
  60. 60وَالْقَوَاعِدُwal-qawāʿiduAnd postmenopausalمِنَminaamongالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenاللَّاتِيallātīwhoلَا(do) notيَرْجُونَyarjūnahave desireنِكَاحًاnikāḥan(for) marriageفَلَيْسَfalaysathen not isعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaon themجُنَاحٌjunāḥunany blameأَنْanthatيَضَعْنَyaḍaʿnathey put asideثِيَابَهُنَّthiyābahunnatheir (outer) garmentsغَيْرَghayranotمُتَبَرِّجَاتٍmutabarrijātindisplayingبِزِينَةٍbizīnatintheir adornmentوَأَنْwa-anAnd thatيَسْتَعْفِفْنَyastaʿfif'nathey modestly refrainخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلَهُنَّlahunnafor themوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearerعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knower
  61. 61لَيْسَlaysaNot isعَلَىʿalāonالْأَعْمَىl-aʿmāthe blindحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَلَاwalāand notعَلَىʿalāonالْأَعْرَجِl-aʿrajithe lameحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَلَاwalāand notعَلَىʿalāonالْمَرِيضِl-marīḍithe sickحَرَجٌḥarajunany blameوَلَاwalāand notعَلَىʿalāonأَنْفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesأَنْanthatتَأْكُلُواtakulūyou eatمِنْminfromبُيُوتِكُمْbuyūtikumyour housesأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesءَابَائِكُمْābāikum(of) your fathersأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesأُمَّهَاتِكُمْummahātikum(of) your mothersأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesإِخْوَانِكُمْikh'wānikum(of) your brothersأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesأَخَوَاتِكُمْakhawātikum(of) your sistersأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesأَعْمَامِكُمْaʿmāmikum(of) your paternal unclesأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesعَمَّاتِكُمْʿammātikum(of) your paternal auntsأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesأَخْوَالِكُمْakhwālikum(of) your maternal unclesأَوْaworبُيُوتِbuyūtihousesخَالَاتِكُمْkhālātikum(of) your maternal auntsأَوْaworمَاwhatمَلَكْتُمْmalaktumyou possessمَفَاتِحَهُmafātiḥahuits keysأَوْaworصَدِيقِكُمْṣadīqikumyour friendلَيْسَlaysaNot isعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youجُنَاحٌjunāḥunany blameأَنْanthatتَأْكُلُواtakulūyou eatجَمِيعًاjamīʿantogetherأَوْaworأَشْتَاتًاashtātanseparatelyفَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenدَخَلْتُمْdakhaltumyou enterبُيُوتًاbuyūtanhousesفَسَلِّمُواfasallimūthen greetعَلَىʿalā[on]أَنْفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesتَحِيَّةًtaḥiyyatana greetingمِنْminfromعِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمُبَارَكَةًmubārakatanblessedطَيِّبَةًṭayyibatan(and) goodكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُبَيِّنُyubayyinuAllah makes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllah makes clearلَكُمُlakumufor youالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnaunderstand
  62. 62إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believersالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerوَإِذَاwa-idhāand whenكَانُواkānūthey areمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himعَلَىʿalāforأَمْرٍamrina matterجَامِعٍjāmiʿin(of) collective actionلَمْlamnotيَذْهَبُواyadhhabūthey goحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَسْتَءْذِنُوهُyastadhinūhuthey (have) asked his permissionإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَسْتَءْذِنُونَكَyastadhinūnakaask your permissionأُولَئِكَulāikathoseالَّذِينَalladhīna[those who]يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerفَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenاسْتَءْذَنُوكَis'tadhanūkathey ask your permissionلِبَعْضِlibaʿḍifor someشَأْنِهِمْshanihimaffair of theirsفَأْذَنْfadhanthen give permissionلِمَنْlimanto whomشِئْتَshi'tayou willمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَاسْتَغْفِرْwa-is'taghfirand ask forgivenessلَهُمُlahumufor themاللَّهَl-laha(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  63. 63لَا(Do) notتَجْعَلُواtajʿalūmakeدُعَاءَduʿāa(the) callingالرَّسُولِl-rasūli(of) the Messengerبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumamong youكَدُعَاءِkaduʿāias (the) callبَعْضِكُمْbaʿḍikum(of) some of youبَعْضًاbaʿḍan(to) othersقَدْqadVerilyيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuAllah knowsاللَّهُl-lahuAllah knowsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَتَسَلَّلُونَyatasallalūnaslip awayمِنْكُمْminkumamong youلِوَاذًاliwādhanunder shelterفَلْيَحْذَرِfalyaḥdhariSo let bewareالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُخَالِفُونَyukhālifūnaopposeعَنْʿan[from]أَمْرِهِamrihihis ordersأَنْanlestتُصِيبَهُمْtuṣībahumbefalls themفِتْنَةٌfit'natuna trialأَوْaworيُصِيبَهُمْyuṣībahumbefalls themعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  64. 64أَلَاalāNo doubt!إِنَّinnaIndeedلِلَّهِlillahito Allah (belongs)مَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthقَدْqadVerilyيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاwhatأَنْتُمْantumyouعَلَيْهِʿalayhi(are) on [it]وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) Dayيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returnedإِلَيْهِilayhito Himفَيُنَبِّئُهُمْfayunabbi-uhumthen He will inform themبِمَاbimāof whatعَمِلُواʿamilūthey didوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
