Surah 22 — Al-Hajj

1. 1يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO (mankind)النَّاسُl-nāsu(O) mankindاتَّقُواittaqūFearرَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour LordإِنَّinnaIndeedزَلْزَلَةَzalzalata(the) convulsionالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati(of) the Hourشَيْءٌshayon(is) a thingعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
2. 2يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayتَرَوْنَهَاtarawnahāyou will see itتَذْهَلُtadhhaluwill forgetكُلُّkullueveryمُرْضِعَةٍmur'ḍiʿatinnursing motherعَمَّاʿammāthat whichأَرْضَعَتْarḍaʿatshe was nursingوَتَضَعُwataḍaʿuand will deliverكُلُّkullueveryذَاتِdhātipregnant womanحَمْلٍḥamlinpregnant womanحَمْلَهَاḥamlahāher loadوَتَرَىwatarāand you will seeالنَّاسَl-nāsa[the] mankindسُكَارَىsukārāintoxicatedوَمَاwamāwhile notهُمْhumtheyبِسُكَارَىbisukārā(are) intoxicatedوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahشَدِيدٌshadīdun(will be) severe
3. 3وَمِنَwaminaAnd amongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindمَنْman(is he) whoيُجَادِلُyujādiludisputesفِيfīconcerningاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeوَيَتَّبِعُwayattabiʿuand followsكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْطَانٍshayṭānindevilمَرِيدٍmarīdinrebellious
4. 4كُتِبَkutibaIt has been decreedعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor himأَنَّهُannahuthat heمَنْmanwhoتَوَلَّاهُtawallāhubefriends himفَأَنَّهُfa-annahuthen indeed heيُضِلُّهُyuḍilluhuwill misguide himوَيَهْدِيهِwayahdīhiand will guide himإِلَىilātoعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishmentالسَّعِيرِl-saʿīri(of) the Blaze
5. 5يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankindالنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankindإِنْinIfكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areفِيfīinرَيْبٍraybindoubtمِنَminaaboutالْبَعْثِl-baʿthithe Resurrectionفَإِنَّاfa-innāthen indeed, WeخَلَقْنَاكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created youمِنْminfromتُرَابٍturābindustثُمَّthummathenمِنْminfromنُطْفَةٍnuṭ'fatina semen-dropثُمَّthummathenمِنْminfromعَلَقَةٍʿalaqatina clinging substanceثُمَّthummathenمِنْminfromمُضْغَةٍmuḍ'ghatinan embryonic lumpمُخَلَّقَةٍmukhallaqatinformedوَغَيْرِwaghayriand unformedمُخَلَّقَةٍmukhallaqatinand unformedلِنُبَيِّنَlinubayyinathat We may make clearلَكُمْlakumto youوَنُقِرُّwanuqirruAnd We cause to remainفِيfīinالْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmithe wombsمَاmāwhatنَشَاءُnashāuWe willإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedثُمَّthummathenنُخْرِجُكُمْnukh'rijukumWe bring you outطِفْلًاṭif'lan(as) a childثُمَّthumma[then]لِتَبْلُغُواlitablughūthat you may reachأَشُدَّكُمْashuddakum[your] maturityوَمِنْكُمْwaminkumAnd among youمَنْman(is he) whoيُتَوَفَّىyutawaffādiesوَمِنْكُمْwaminkumand among youمَنْman(is he) whoيُرَدُّyuradduis returnedإِلَىilātoأَرْذَلِardhalithe most abjectالْعُمُرِl-ʿumuriageلِكَيْلَاlikaylāso that notيَعْلَمَyaʿlamahe knowsمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterعِلْمٍʿil'minhaving knownشَيْئًاshayananythingوَتَرَىwatarāAnd you seeالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthهَامِدَةًhāmidatanbarrenفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen whenأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe send downعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon itالْمَاءَl-māawaterاهْتَزَّتْih'tazzatit gets stirredوَرَبَتْwarabatand it swellsوَأَنْبَتَتْwa-anbatatand growsمِنْminofكُلِّkullieveryزَوْجٍzawjinkindبَهِيجٍbahījinbeautiful
6. 6ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّbi-anna(is) becauseاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the Truthوَأَنَّهُwa-annahuAnd that Heيُحْيِيyuḥ'yī[He] gives lifeالْمَوْتَىl-mawtā(to) the deadوَأَنَّهُwa-annahuand that Heعَلَىʿalā(is) overكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
7. 7وَأَنَّwa-annaAnd thatالسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hourءَاتِيَةٌātiyatunwill comeلَاlā(there is) noرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهَاfīhāabout itوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَبْعَثُyabʿathuwill resurrectمَنْman(those) whoفِيfī(are) inالْقُبُورِl-qubūrithe graves
8. 8وَمِنَwaminaAnd amongالنَّاسِl-nāsimankindمَنْman(is he) whoيُجَادِلُyujādiludisputesفِيfīconcerningاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minany knowledgeوَلَاwalāand notهُدًىhudanany guidanceوَلَاwalāand notكِتَابٍkitābina Bookمُنِيرٍmunīrinenlightening
9. 9ثَانِيَthāniyaTwistingعِطْفِهِʿiṭ'fihihis neckلِيُضِلَّliyuḍillato misleadعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahلَهُlahuFor himفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldخِزْيٌkhiz'yun(is) disgraceوَنُذِيقُهُwanudhīquhuand We will make him tasteيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) Resurrectionعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentالْحَرِيقِl-ḥarīqi(of) the Burning Fire
10. 10ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِمَاbimā(is) for whatقَدَّمَتْqaddamathave sent forthيَدَاكَyadākayour handsوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَيْسَlaysais notبِظَلَّامٍbiẓallāminunjustلِلْعَبِيدِlil'ʿabīdito His slaves
11. 11وَمِنَwaminaAnd amongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindمَنْman(is he) whoيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipsاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāonحَرْفٍḥarfinan edgeفَإِنْfa-inAnd ifأَصَابَهُaṣābahubefalls himخَيْرٌkhayrungoodاطْمَأَنَّiṭ'ma-annahe is contentبِهِbihiwith itوَإِنْwa-inand ifأَصَابَتْهُaṣābathubefalls himفِتْنَةٌfit'natuna trialانْقَلَبَinqalabahe turnsعَلَىʿalāonوَجْهِهِwajhihihis faceخَسِرَkhasiraHe has lostالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةَwal-ākhirataand the HereafterذَلِكَdhālikaThatهُوَhuwa[it]الْخُسْرَانُl-khus'rānu(is) the lossالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear
12. 12يَدْعُواyadʿūHe callsمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhatلَاlānotيَضُرُّهُyaḍurruhuharms himوَمَاwamāand whatلَاlānotيَنْفَعُهُyanfaʿuhubenefits himذَلِكَdhālikaThatهُوَhuwa[it]الضَّلَالُl-ḍalālu(is) the strayingالْبَعِيدُl-baʿīdufar away
13. 13يَدْعُواyadʿūHe callsلَمَنْlaman(one) whoضَرُّهُḍarruhuhis harmأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) closerمِنْminthanنَفْعِهِnafʿihihis benefitلَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely an evilالْمَوْلَىl-mawlāprotectorوَلَبِئْسَwalabi'saand surely an evilالْعَشِيرُl-ʿashīrufriend!
14. 14إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُدْخِلُyud'khiluwill admitالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَفْعَلُyafʿaludoesمَاmāwhatيُرِيدُyurīduHe intends
15. 15مَنْmanWhoeverكَانَkāna[is]يَظُنُّyaẓunnuthinksأَنْanthatلَنْlannotيَنْصُرَهُyanṣurahuAllah will help himاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will help himفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the Hereafterفَلْيَمْدُدْfalyamdudthen let him extendبِسَبَبٍbisababina ropeإِلَىilātoالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyثُمَّthummathenلْيَقْطَعْl'yaqṭaʿlet him cut offفَلْيَنْظُرْfalyanẓurthen let him seeهَلْhalwhetherيُذْهِبَنَّyudh'hibannawill removeكَيْدُهُkayduhuhis planمَاmāwhatيَغِيظُyaghīẓuenrages
16. 16وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe sent it downءَايَاتٍāyātin(as) clear Versesبَيِّنَاتٍbayyinātin(as) clear Versesوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَهْدِيyahdīguidesمَنْmanwhomيُرِيدُyurīduHe intends
17. 17إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūhave believedوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoهَادُواhādūwere Jewsوَالصَّابِءِينَwal-ṣābiīnaand the Sabiansوَالنَّصَارَىwal-naṣārāand the Christiansوَالْمَجُوسَwal-majūsaand the Majusوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoأَشْرَكُواashrakū(are) polytheistsإِنَّinnaindeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَفْصِلُyafṣiluwill judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the ResurrectionإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāoverكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingشَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) a Witness
18. 18أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَسْجُدُyasjuduprostratesلَهُlahuto Himمَنْmanwhoeverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَنْwamanand whoeverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَالشَّمْسُwal-shamsuand the sunوَالْقَمَرُwal-qamaruand the moonوَالنُّجُومُwal-nujūmuand the starsوَالْجِبَالُwal-jibāluand the mountainsوَالشَّجَرُwal-shajaruand the treesوَالدَّوَابُّwal-dawābuand the moving creaturesوَكَثِيرٌwakathīrunand manyمِنَminaofالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَكَثِيرٌwakathīrunBut manyحَقَّḥaqqa(is) justly dueعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُهِنِyuhiniAllah humiliatesاللَّهُl-lahuAllah humiliatesفَمَاfamāthen notلَهُlahufor himمِنْminanyمُكْرِمٍmuk'riminbestower of honorإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَفْعَلُyafʿaludoesمَاmāwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe wills
19. 19هَذَانِhādhāniThese twoخَصْمَانِkhaṣmāniopponentsاخْتَصَمُواikh'taṣamūdisputeفِيfīconcerningرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedقُطِّعَتْquṭṭiʿatwill be cut outلَهُمْlahumfor themثِيَابٌthiyābungarmentsمِنْminofنَارٍnārinfireيُصَبُّyuṣabbuWill be pouredمِنْminoverفَوْقِfawqioverرُءُوسِهِمُruūsihimutheir headsالْحَمِيمُl-ḥamīmu[the] scalding water
20. 20يُصْهَرُyuṣ'haruWill be meltedبِهِbihiwith itمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inبُطُونِهِمْbuṭūnihimtheir belliesوَالْجُلُودُwal-julūduand the skins
21. 21وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for themمَقَامِعُmaqāmiʿu(are) hooked rodsمِنْminofحَدِيدٍḥadīdiniron
22. 22كُلَّمَاkullamāEvery timeأَرَادُواarādūthey wantأَنْantoيَخْرُجُواyakhrujūcome outمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itمِنْminfromغَمٍّghamminanguishأُعِيدُواuʿīdūthey will be returnedفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَذُوقُواwadhūqūTasteعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentالْحَرِيقِl-ḥarīqi(of) the Burning Fire!
23. 23إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُدْخِلُyud'khiluwill admitالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversيُحَلَّوْنَyuḥallawnaThey will be adornedفِيهَاfīhāthereinمِنْminwithأَسَاوِرَasāwirabraceletsمِنْminofذَهَبٍdhahabingoldوَلُؤْلُؤًاwalu'lu-anand pearlوَلِبَاسُهُمْwalibāsuhumand their garmentsفِيهَاfīhāthereinحَرِيرٌḥarīrun(will be of) silk
24. 24وَهُدُواwahudūAnd they were guidedإِلَىilātoالطَّيِّبِl-ṭayibithe goodمِنَminaofالْقَوْلِl-qawlithe speechوَهُدُواwahudūand they were guidedإِلَىilātoصِرَاطِṣirāṭi(the) pathالْحَمِيدِl-ḥamīdi(of) the Praiseworthy
25. 25إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَيَصُدُّونَwayaṣuddūnaand hinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَالْمَسْجِدِwal-masjidiand Al-Masjid Al-Haraamالْحَرَامِl-ḥarāmiand Al-Masjid Al-HaraamالَّذِيalladhīwhichجَعَلْنَاهُjaʿalnāhuWe made itلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindسَوَاءًsawāanequalالْعَاكِفُl-ʿākifu(are) the residentفِيهِfīhithereinوَالْبَادِwal-bādiand the visitorوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُرِدْyuridintendsفِيهِfīhithereinبِإِلْحَادٍbi-il'ḥādinof deviationبِظُلْمٍbiẓul'min(or) wrongdoingنُذِقْهُnudhiq'huWe will make him tasteمِنْminofعَذَابٍʿadhābina punishmentأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
26. 26وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenبَوَّأْنَاbawwanāWe assignedلِإِبْرَاهِيمَli-ib'rāhīmato Ibrahimمَكَانَmakāna(the) siteالْبَيْتِl-bayti(of) the HouseأَنْanThatلَاlā(do) notتُشْرِكْtush'rikassociateبِيbīwith Meشَيْئًاshayananythingوَطَهِّرْwaṭahhirand purifyبَيْتِيَbaytiyaMy Houseلِلطَّائِفِينَlilṭṭāifīnafor those who circumambulateوَالْقَائِمِينَwal-qāimīnaand those who standوَالرُّكَّعِwal-rukaʿiand those who bowالسُّجُودِl-sujūdi(and) those who prostrate
27. 27وَأَذِّنْwa-adhinAnd proclaimفِيfītoالنَّاسِl-nāsi[the] mankindبِالْحَجِّbil-ḥaji[of] the Pilgrimageيَأْتُوكَyatūkathey will come to youرِجَالًاrijālan(on) footوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onكُلِّkullieveryضَامِرٍḍāmirinlean camelيَأْتِينَyatīnathey will comeمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryفَجٍّfajjinmountain highwayعَمِيقٍʿamīqindistant
28. 28لِيَشْهَدُواliyashhadūThat they may witnessمَنَافِعَmanāfiʿabenefitsلَهُمْlahumfor themوَيَذْكُرُواwayadhkurūand mentionاسْمَis'ma(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahفِيfīonأَيَّامٍayyāmindaysمَعْلُومَاتٍmaʿlūmātinknownعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhatرَزَقَهُمْrazaqahumHe has provided themمِنْminofبَهِيمَةِbahīmati(the) beastالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmi(of) cattleفَكُلُواfakulūSo eatمِنْهَاmin'hāof themوَأَطْعِمُواwa-aṭʿimūand feedالْبَائِسَl-bāisathe miserableالْفَقِيرَl-faqīrathe poor
29. 29ثُمَّthummaThenلْيَقْضُواl'yaqḍūlet them completeتَفَثَهُمْtafathahumtheir prescribed dutiesوَلْيُوفُواwalyūfūand fulfilنُذُورَهُمْnudhūrahumtheir vowsوَلْيَطَّوَّفُواwalyaṭṭawwafūand circumambulateبِالْبَيْتِbil-baytithe Houseالْعَتِيقِl-ʿatīqi[the] Ancient
30. 30ذَلِكَdhālikaThatوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُعَظِّمْyuʿaẓẓimhonorsحُرُمَاتِḥurumāti(the) sacred ritesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَهُوَfahuwathen itخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestلَهُlahufor himعِنْدَʿindanearرَبِّهِrabbihihis Lordوَأُحِلَّتْwa-uḥillatAnd are made lawfulلَكُمُlakumuto youالْأَنْعَامُl-anʿāmuthe cattleإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatيُتْلَىyut'lāis recitedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youفَاجْتَنِبُواfa-ij'tanibūSo avoidالرِّجْسَl-rij'sathe abominationمِنَminaofالْأَوْثَانِl-awthānithe idolsوَاجْتَنِبُواwa-ij'tanibūand avoidقَوْلَqawla(the) wordالزُّورِl-zūrifalse
31. 31حُنَفَاءَḥunafāaBeing uprightلِلَّهِlillahito Allahغَيْرَghayranotمُشْرِكِينَmush'rikīnaassociating partnersبِهِbihiwith HimوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُشْرِكْyush'rikassociates partnersبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allahفَكَأَنَّمَاfaka-annamāthen (it is) as thoughخَرَّkharrahe had fallenمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyفَتَخْطَفُهُfatakhṭafuhuand (had) snatched himالطَّيْرُl-ṭayruthe birdsأَوْaworتَهْوِيtahwīhad blownبِهِbihihimالرِّيحُl-rīḥuthe windفِيfītoمَكَانٍmakānina placeسَحِيقٍsaḥīqinfar off
32. 32ذَلِكَdhālikaThatوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُعَظِّمْyuʿaẓẓimhonorsشَعَائِرَshaʿāira(the) Symbolsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَإِنَّهَاfa-innahāthen indeed itمِنْmin(is) fromتَقْوَىtaqwā(the) pietyالْقُلُوبِl-qulūbi(of) the hearts
33. 33لَكُمْlakumFor youفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَنَافِعُmanāfiʿu(are) benefitsإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedثُمَّthummathenمَحِلُّهَاmaḥilluhātheir place of sacrificeإِلَىilā(is) atالْبَيْتِl-baytithe Houseالْعَتِيقِl-ʿatīqithe Ancient
34. 34وَلِكُلِّwalikulliAnd for everyأُمَّةٍummatinnationجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have appointedمَنْسَكًاmansakana riteلِيَذْكُرُواliyadhkurūthat they may mentionاسْمَis'ma(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhatرَزَقَهُمْrazaqahumHe (has) provided themمِنْminofبَهِيمَةِbahīmati(the) beastالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmi(of) cattleفَإِلَهُكُمْfa-ilāhukumAnd your Godإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneفَلَهُfalahuso to HimأَسْلِمُواaslimūsubmitوَبَشِّرِwabashiriAnd give glad tidingsالْمُخْبِتِينَl-mukh'bitīna(to) the humble ones
35. 35الَّذِينَalladhīnaThoseإِذَاidhāwhenذُكِرَdhukirais mentionedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَجِلَتْwajilatfearقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَالصَّابِرِينَwal-ṣābirīnaand those who are patientعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhateverأَصَابَهُمْaṣābahumhas afflicted themوَالْمُقِيمِيwal-muqīmīand those who establishالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerوَمِمَّاwamimmāand out of whatرَزَقْنَاهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided themيُنْفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spend
36. 36وَالْبُدْنَwal-bud'naAnd the camels and cattleجَعَلْنَاهَاjaʿalnāhāWe have made themلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminamongشَعَائِرِshaʿāiri(the) Symbolsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيهَاfīhāthereinخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) goodفَاذْكُرُواfa-udh'kurūSo mentionاسْمَis'ma(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāover themصَوَافَّṣawāffa(when) lined upفَإِذَاfa-idhāand whenوَجَبَتْwajabatare downجُنُوبُهَاjunūbuhātheir sidesفَكُلُواfakulūthen eatمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom themوَأَطْعِمُواwa-aṭʿimūand feedالْقَانِعَl-qāniʿathe needy who do not askوَالْمُعْتَرَّwal-muʿ'taraand the needy who askكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusسَخَّرْنَاهَاsakharnāhāWe have subjected themلَكُمْlakumto youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnabe grateful
37. 37لَنْlanWill notيَنَالَyanālareachاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلُحُومُهَاluḥūmuhātheir meatوَلَاwalāand notدِمَاؤُهَاdimāuhātheir bloodوَلَكِنْwalākinbutيَنَالُهُyanāluhureaches Himالتَّقْوَىl-taqwāthe pietyمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusسَخَّرَهَاsakharahāHe subjected themلَكُمْlakumto youلِتُكَبِّرُواlitukabbirūso that you may magnifyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāforمَاmāwhatهَدَاكُمْhadākumHe has guided youوَبَشِّرِwabashiriAnd give glad tidingsالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(to) the good-doers
38. 38إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُدَافِعُyudāfiʿudefendsعَنِʿanidefendsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbulikeكُلَّkullaeveryخَوَّانٍkhawwānintreacherousكَفُورٍkafūrinungrateful
39. 39أُذِنَudhinaPermission is givenلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoيُقَاتَلُونَyuqātalūnaare being foughtبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahumbecause theyظُلِمُواẓulimūwere wrongedوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāforنَصْرِهِمْnaṣrihimtheir victoryلَقَدِيرٌlaqadīrun(is) surely Able
40. 40الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoأُخْرِجُواukh'rijūhave been evictedمِنْminfromدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحَقٍّḥaqqinrightإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey saidرَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lordاللَّهُl-lahu(is) AllahوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notدَفْعُdafʿuAllah checksاللَّهِl-lahiAllah checksالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinby othersلَهُدِّمَتْlahuddimatsurely (would) have been demolishedصَوَامِعُṣawāmiʿumonasteriesوَبِيَعٌwabiyaʿunand churchesوَصَلَوَاتٌwaṣalawātunand synagoguesوَمَسَاجِدُwamasājiduand masajidيُذْكَرُyudh'karuis mentionedفِيهَاfīhāin itاسْمُus'mu(the) name of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) name of AllahكَثِيرًاkathīranmuchوَلَيَنْصُرَنَّwalayanṣurannaAnd surely Allah will helpاللَّهُl-lahuAnd surely Allah will helpمَنْman(those) whoيَنْصُرُهُyanṣuruhuhelp HimإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَقَوِيٌّlaqawiyyun(is) surely All-StrongعَزِيزٌʿazīzunAll-Mighty
41. 41الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoإِنْinifمَكَّنَّاهُمْmakkannāhumWe establish themفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landأَقَامُواaqāmūthey establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتَوُاwaātawūand they giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَأَمَرُواwa-amarūand they enjoinبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfithe rightوَنَهَوْاwanahawand forbidعَنِʿanifromالْمُنْكَرِl-munkarithe wrongوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(is the) endالْأُمُورِl-umūri(of) the matters
42. 42وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيُكَذِّبُوكَyukadhibūkathey deny youفَقَدْfaqadso verilyكَذَّبَتْkadhabatdeniedقَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore themقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleنُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuhوَعَادٌwaʿādunand Aadوَثَمُودُwathamūduand Thamud
43. 43وَقَوْمُwaqawmuAnd (the) peopleإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimوَقَوْمُwaqawmuand (the) peopleلُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lut
44. 44وَأَصْحَابُwa-aṣḥābuAnd the inhabitantsمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) MadyanوَكُذِّبَwakudhibaAnd Musa was deniedمُوسَىmūsāAnd Musa was deniedفَأَمْلَيْتُfa-amlaytuso I granted respiteلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelieversثُمَّthummathenأَخَذْتُهُمْakhadhtuhumI seized themفَكَيْفَfakayfaand howكَانَkānawasنَكِيرِnakīriMy punishment
45. 45فَكَأَيِّنْfaka-ayyinAnd how manyمِنْminofقَرْيَةٍqaryatina townshipأَهْلَكْنَاهَاahlaknāhāWe have destroyed itوَهِيَwahiyawhile itظَالِمَةٌẓālimatunwas doing wrongفَهِيَfahiyaso itخَاوِيَةٌkhāwiyatunfellعَلَىʿalāonعُرُوشِهَاʿurūshihāits roofsوَبِئْرٍwabi'rinand wellمُعَطَّلَةٍmuʿaṭṭalatinabandonedوَقَصْرٍwaqaṣrinand castleمَشِيدٍmashīdinlofty
46. 46أَفَلَمْafalamSo have notيَسِيرُواyasīrūthey traveledفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landفَتَكُونَfatakūnaand isلَهُمْlahumfor themقُلُوبٌqulūbunheartsيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūna(to) reasonبِهَاbihāwith itأَوْaworءَاذَانٌādhānunearsيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūna(to) hearبِهَاbihāwith itفَإِنَّهَاfa-innahāFor indeed [it]لَاlānotتَعْمَىtaʿmā(are) blindedالْأَبْصَارُl-abṣāruthe eyesوَلَكِنْwalākinbutتَعْمَىtaʿmā(are) blindedالْقُلُوبُl-qulūbuthe heartsالَّتِيallatīwhichفِيfī(are) inالصُّدُورِl-ṣudūrithe breasts
47. 47وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَwayastaʿjilūnakaAnd they ask you to hastenبِالْعَذَابِbil-ʿadhābithe punishmentوَلَنْwalanBut never willيُخْلِفَyukh'lifaAllah failاللَّهُl-lahuAllah failوَعْدَهُwaʿdahu(in) His Promiseوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedيَوْمًاyawmana dayعِنْدَʿindawithرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordكَأَلْفِka-alfi(is) like a thousandسَنَةٍsanatinyear(s)مِمَّاmimmāof whatتَعُدُّونَtaʿuddūnayou count
48. 48وَكَأَيِّنْwaka-ayyinAnd how manyمِنْminofقَرْيَةٍqaryatina townshipأَمْلَيْتُamlaytuI gave respiteلَهَاlahāto itوَهِيَwahiyawhile itظَالِمَةٌẓālimatun(was) doing wrongثُمَّthummaThenأَخَذْتُهَاakhadhtuhāI seized itوَإِلَيَّwa-ilayyaand to Meالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination
49. 49قُلْqulSayيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankindالنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankindإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنَاanāI amلَكُمْlakumto youنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
50. 50فَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaSo those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsلَهُمْlahumfor themمَغْفِرَةٌmaghfiratun(is) forgivenessوَرِزْقٌwariz'qunand a provisionكَرِيمٌkarīmunnoble
51. 51وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoسَعَوْاsaʿawstroveفِيfīagainstءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Versesمُعَاجِزِينَmuʿājizīna(to) cause failureأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire
52. 52وَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youمِنْminanyرَسُولٍrasūlinMessengerوَلَاwalāand notنَبِيٍّnabiyyina Prophetإِلَّاillābutإِذَاidhāwhenتَمَنَّىtamannāhe recitedأَلْقَىalqāthrewالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanفِيfīinأُمْنِيَّتِهِum'niyyatihihis recitationفَيَنْسَخُfayansakhuBut Allah abolishesاللَّهُl-lahuBut Allah abolishesمَاmāwhatيُلْقِيyul'qīthrowsالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanثُمَّthummathenيُحْكِمُyuḥ'kimuAllah will establishاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will establishءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
53. 53لِيَجْعَلَliyajʿalaThat He may makeمَاmāwhatيُلْقِيyul'qīthe Shaitaan throwsالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan throwsفِتْنَةًfit'natana trialلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor thoseفِيfīinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsمَرَضٌmaraḍun(is) a diseaseوَالْقَاسِيَةِwal-qāsiyatiand (are) hardenedقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersلَفِيlafī(are) surely, inشِقَاقٍshiqāqinschismبَعِيدٍbaʿīdinfar
54. 54وَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaAnd that may knowالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūhave been givenالْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeأَنَّهُannahuthat itالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordفَيُؤْمِنُواfayu'minūand they believeبِهِbihiin itفَتُخْبِتَfatukh'bitaand may humbly submitلَهُlahuto itقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَهَادِlahādi(is) surely (the) Guideالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina Pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminStraight
55. 55وَلَاwalāAnd notيَزَالُyazāluwill ceaseالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveفِيfī(to be) inمِرْيَةٍmir'yatindoubtمِنْهُmin'huof itحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَأْتِيَهُمُtatiyahumucomes to themالسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hourبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyأَوْaworيَأْتِيَهُمْyatiyahumcomes to themعَذَابُʿadhābu(the) punishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Dayعَقِيمٍʿaqīminbarren
56. 56الْمُلْكُal-mul'kuThe Sovereigntyيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(on) that Dayلِلَّهِlillahi(will be) for AllahيَحْكُمُyaḥkumuHe will judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaSo those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsفِيfī(will be) inجَنَّاتِjannātiGardensالنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Delight
57. 57وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَكَذَّبُواwakadhabūand deniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(will be) a punishmentمُهِينٌmuhīnunhumiliating
58. 58وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoهَاجَرُواhājarūemigratedفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahثُمَّthummathenقُتِلُواqutilūwere killedأَوْaworمَاتُواmātūdiedلَيَرْزُقَنَّهُمُlayarzuqannahumusurely, Allah will provide themاللَّهُl-lahusurely, Allah will provide themرِزْقًاriz'qana provisionحَسَنًاḥasanangoodوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَهُوَlahuwasurely, Heخَيْرُkhayru(is the) Bestالرَّازِقِينَl-rāziqīna(of) the Providers
59. 59لَيُدْخِلَنَّهُمْlayud'khilannahumSurely He will admit themمُدْخَلًاmud'khalan(to) an entranceيَرْضَوْنَهُyarḍawnahuthey will be pleased (with) itوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَلِيمٌlaʿalīmunsurely (is) All-KnowingحَلِيمٌḥalīmunMost Forbearing
60. 60ذَلِكَdhālikaThatوَمَنْwamanand whoeverعَاقَبَʿāqabahas retaliatedبِمِثْلِbimith'liwith the likeمَاmā(of) thatعُوقِبَʿūqibahe was made to sufferبِهِbihiby itثُمَّthummathenبُغِيَbughiyahe was oppressedعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[on him]لَيَنْصُرَنَّهُlayanṣurannahuAllah will surely help himاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will surely help himإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَفُوٌّlaʿafuwwun(is) surely Oft-PardoningغَفُورٌghafūrunOft-Forgiving
61. 61ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّbi-anna(is) becauseاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُولِجُyūlijucauses to enterاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightفِيfīin (to)النَّهَارِl-nahārithe dayوَيُولِجُwayūlijuand causes to enterالنَّهَارَl-nahārathe dayفِيfīin (to)اللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightوَأَنَّwa-annaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearerبَصِيرٌbaṣīrunAll-Seer
62. 62ذَلِكَdhālikaThat (is)بِأَنَّbi-annabecauseاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the Truthوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatمَاmāwhatيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminbesides Himدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himهُوَhuwaitالْبَاطِلُl-bāṭilu(is) the falsehoodوَأَنَّwa-annaAnd thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْعَلِيُّl-ʿaliyu(is) the Most Highالْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe Most Great
63. 63أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahأَنْزَلَanzalasends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَتُصْبِحُfatuṣ'biḥuthen becomesالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthمُخْضَرَّةًmukh'ḍarratangreenإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَطِيفٌlaṭīfun(is) surely SubtleخَبِيرٌkhabīrunAll-Aware
64. 64لَهُlahuFor Himمَاmā(is) whateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَهُوَlahuwasurely Heالْغَنِيُّl-ghaniyu(is) Free of needالْحَمِيدُl-ḥamīduthe Praiseworthy
65. 65أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَخَّرَsakhara(has) subjectedلَكُمْlakumto youمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَالْفُلْكَwal-ful'kaand the shipsتَجْرِيtajrīthat sailفِيfīthroughالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaبِأَمْرِهِbi-amrihiby His Commandوَيُمْسِكُwayum'sikuAnd He withholdsالسَّمَاءَl-samāathe skyأَنْanlestتَقَعَtaqaʿait fallsعَلَىʿalāonالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِهِbi-idh'nihiby His permissionإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِالنَّاسِbil-nāsito mankindلَرَءُوفٌlaraūfun(is) Full of KindnessرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
66. 66وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَحْيَاكُمْaḥyākumgave you lifeثُمَّthummathenيُمِيتُكُمْyumītukumHe will cause you to dieثُمَّthummathenيُحْيِيكُمْyuḥ'yīkumHe will give you life (again)إِنَّinnaIndeedالْإِنْسَانَl-insānamanلَكَفُورٌlakafūrun(is) surely ungrateful
67. 67لِكُلِّlikulliFor everyأُمَّةٍummatinnationجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have madeمَنْسَكًاmansakanrite(s)هُمْhumtheyنَاسِكُوهُnāsikūhuperform itفَلَاfalāSo let them not dispute with youيُنَازِعُنَّكَyunāziʿunnakaSo let them not dispute with youفِيfīinالْأَمْرِl-amrithe matterوَادْعُwa-ud'ʿubut invite (them)إِلَىilātoرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, youلَعَلَىlaʿalā(are) surely onهُدًىhudanguidanceمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
68. 68وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifجَادَلُوكَjādalūkathey argue (with) youفَقُلِfaqulithen sayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
69. 69اللَّهُal-lahuAllahيَحْكُمُyaḥkumuwill judgeبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionفِيمَاfīmāconcerning whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)فِيهِfīhiin itتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffer
70. 70أَلَمْalamDo notتَعْلَمْtaʿlamyou knowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthإِنَّinnaIndeedذَلِكَdhālikathatفِيfī(is) inكِتَابٍkitābina Recordإِنَّinnaindeedذَلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalā(is) forاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرٌyasīruneasy
71. 71وَيَعْبُدُونَwayaʿbudūnaAnd they worshipمِنْminbesides Allahدُونِdūnibesides Allahاللَّهِl-lahibesides AllahمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotيُنَزِّلْyunazzilHe (has) sent downبِهِbihifor itسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanany authorityوَمَاwamāand whatلَيْسَlaysanotلَهُمْlahumthey haveبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munany knowledgeوَمَاwamāAnd notلِلظَّالِمِينَlilẓẓālimīna(will be) for the wrongdoersمِنْminanyنَصِيرٍnaṣīrinhelper
72. 72وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenتُتْلَىtut'lāare recitedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَاتُنَاāyātunāOur Versesبَيِّنَاتٍbayyinātinclearتَعْرِفُtaʿrifuyou will recognizeفِيfīonوُجُوهِwujūhi(the) facesالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveالْمُنْكَرَl-munkarathe denialيَكَادُونَyakādūnaThey almostيَسْطُونَyasṭūnaattackبِالَّذِينَbi-alladhīnathose whoيَتْلُونَyatlūnareciteعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur VersesقُلْqulSayأَفَأُنَبِّئُكُمْafa-unabbi-ukumThen shall I inform youبِشَرٍّbisharrinof worseمِنْminthanذَلِكُمُdhālikumuthatالنَّارُl-nāruThe FireوَعَدَهَاwaʿadahāAllah (has) promised itاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (has) promised itالَّذِينَalladhīna(for) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveوَبِئْسَwabi'saand wretchedالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination
73. 73يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO mankindالنَّاسُl-nāsuO mankindضُرِبَḍuribaIs set forthمَثَلٌmathalunan exampleفَاسْتَمِعُواfa-is'tamiʿūso listenلَهُlahuto itإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou invokeمِنْminbesides Allahدُونِdūnibesides Allahاللَّهِl-lahibesides Allahلَنْlanwill neverيَخْلُقُواyakhluqūcreateذُبَابًاdhubābana flyوَلَوِwalawieven ifاجْتَمَعُواij'tamaʿūthey gathered togetherلَهُlahufor itوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَسْلُبْهُمُyaslub'humusnatched away from themالذُّبَابُl-dhubābuthe flyشَيْئًاshayana thingلَاlānotيَسْتَنْقِذُوهُyastanqidhūhuthey (could) take it backمِنْهُmin'hufrom itضَعُفَḍaʿufaSo weakالطَّالِبُl-ṭālibu(are) the seekerوَالْمَطْلُوبُwal-maṭlūbuand the one who is sought
74. 74مَاmāNotقَدَرُواqadarūthey (have) estimatedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahحَقَّḥaqqa(with) dueقَدْرِهِqadrihi[His] estimationإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَقَوِيٌّlaqawiyyun(is) surely All-StrongعَزِيزٌʿazīzunAll-Mighty
75. 75اللَّهُal-lahuAllahيَصْطَفِيyaṣṭafīchoosesمِنَminafromالْمَلَائِكَةِl-malāikatithe AngelsرُسُلًاrusulanMessengersوَمِنَwaminaand fromالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearerبَصِيرٌbaṣīrunAll-Seer
76. 76يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatبَيْنَbayna(is) before themأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhim(is) before themوَمَاwamāand whatخَلْفَهُمْkhalfahum(is) after themوَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toاللَّهِl-lahiAllahتُرْجَعُtur'jaʿureturnالْأُمُورُl-umūruall the matters
77. 77يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you who believeالَّذِينَalladhīnaO you who believeءَامَنُواāmanūO you who believeارْكَعُواir'kaʿūBowوَاسْجُدُواwa-us'judūand prostrateوَاعْبُدُواwa-uʿ'budūand worshipرَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lordوَافْعَلُواwa-if'ʿalūand doالْخَيْرَl-khayra[the] goodلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnabe successful
78. 78وَجَاهِدُواwajāhidūAnd striveفِيfīforاللَّهِl-lahiAllahحَقَّḥaqqa(with the) striving due (to) Himجِهَادِهِjihādihi(with the) striving due (to) HimهُوَhuwaHeاجْتَبَاكُمْij'tabākum(has) chosen youوَمَاwamāand notجَعَلَjaʿalaplacedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youفِيfīinالدِّينِl-dīnithe religionمِنْminanyحَرَجٍḥarajindifficultyمِلَّةَmillata(The) religionأَبِيكُمْabīkum(of) your fatherإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimهُوَhuwaHeسَمَّاكُمُsammākumunamed youالْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīnaMuslimsمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَفِيwafīand inهَذَاhādhāthisلِيَكُونَliyakūnathat may beالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerشَهِيدًاshahīdana witnessعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youوَتَكُونُواwatakūnūand you may beشُهَدَاءَshuhadāawitnessesعَلَىʿalāonالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindفَأَقِيمُواfa-aqīmūSo establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتُواwaātūand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَاعْتَصِمُواwa-iʿ'taṣimūand hold fastبِاللَّهِbil-lahito AllahهُوَhuwaHeمَوْلَاكُمْmawlākum(is) your Protectorفَنِعْمَfaniʿ'maso an Excellentالْمَوْلَىl-mawlā[the] Protectorوَنِعْمَwaniʿ'maand an Excellentالنَّصِيرُl-naṣīru[the] Helper
