بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 20 — Taa-Haa

  1. 1طهta-haTa Ha
  2. 2مَاNotأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (have) sent downعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranلِتَشْقَىlitashqāthat you be distressed
  3. 3إِلَّاillā(But)تَذْكِرَةًtadhkiratan(as) a reminderلِمَنْlimanfor (those) whoيَخْشَىyakhshāfear
  4. 4تَنْزِيلًاtanzīlanA revelationمِمَّنْmimmanfrom (He) Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthوَالسَّمَاوَاتِwal-samāwātiand the heavensالْعُلَىl-ʿulā[the] high
  5. 5الرَّحْمَنُal-raḥmānuThe Most Graciousعَلَىʿalāoverالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throneاسْتَوَىis'tawāis established
  6. 6لَهُlahuTo Him (belongs)مَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themوَمَاwamāand whateverتَحْتَtaḥta(is) underالثَّرَىl-tharāthe soil
  7. 7وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَجْهَرْtajharyou speak aloudبِالْقَوْلِbil-qawlithe wordفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed Heيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsالسِّرَّl-sirathe secretوَأَخْفَىwa-akhfāand the more hidden
  8. 8اللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimلَهُlahuTo Him (belong)الْأَسْمَاءُl-asmāuthe Namesالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe Most Beautiful
  9. 9وَهَلْwahalAnd hasأَتَىكَatākacome to youحَدِيثُḥadīthuthe narrationمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musa
  10. 10إِذْidhWhenرَءَاraāhe sawنَارًاnārana fireفَقَالَfaqālathen he saidلِأَهْلِهِli-ahlihito his familyامْكُثُواum'kuthūStay hereإِنِّيinnīindeed Iءَانَسْتُānastu[I] perceivedنَارًاnārana fireلَعَلِّيlaʿallīperhaps I (can)ءَاتِيكُمْātīkumbring youمِنْهَاmin'hātherefromبِقَبَسٍbiqabasina burning brandأَوْaworأَجِدُajiduI findعَلَىʿalāatالنَّارِl-nārithe fireهُدًىhudanguidance
  11. 11فَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenأَتَاهَاatāhāhe came to itنُودِيَnūdiyahe was calledيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa
  12. 12إِنِّيinnīIndeed [I]أَنَاanāI Amرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordفَاخْلَعْfa-ikh'laʿso removeنَعْلَيْكَnaʿlaykayour shoesإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youبِالْوَادِbil-wādi(are) in the valleyالْمُقَدَّسِl-muqadasithe sacredطُوًىṭuwan(of) Tuwa
  13. 13وَأَنَاwa-anāAnd Iاخْتَرْتُكَikh'tartuka(have) chosen youفَاسْتَمِعْfa-is'tamiʿso listenلِمَاlimāto whatيُوحَىyūḥāis revealed
  14. 14إِنَّنِيinnanīIndeed [I]أَنَاanāI Amاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَا(There is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutأَنَاanāIفَاعْبُدْنِيfa-uʿ'bud'nīso worship Meوَأَقِمِwa-aqimiand establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerلِذِكْرِيlidhik'rīfor My remembrance
  15. 15إِنَّinnaIndeedالسَّاعَةَl-sāʿatathe Hourءَاتِيَةٌātiyatun(will be) comingأَكَادُakāduI almostأُخْفِيهَاukh'fīhā[I] hide itلِتُجْزَىlituj'zāthat may be recompensedكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulبِمَاbimāfor whatتَسْعَىtasʿāit strives
  16. 16فَلَاfalāSo (do) notيَصُدَّنَّكَyaṣuddannaka(let) avert youعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itمَنْman(one) whoلَا(does) notيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieveبِهَاbihāin itوَاتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaand followsهَوَاهُhawāhuhis desiresفَتَرْدَىfatardālest you perish
  17. 17وَمَاwamāAnd whatتِلْكَtil'ka(is) thatبِيَمِينِكَbiyamīnikain your right handيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa
  18. 18قَالَqālaHe saidهِيَhiyaItعَصَايَʿaṣāya(is) my staffأَتَوَكَّؤُاatawakka-uI leanعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itوَأَهُشُّwa-ahushuand I bring down leavesبِهَاbihāwith itعَلَىʿalāforغَنَمِيghanamīmy sheepوَلِيَwaliyaand for meفِيهَاfīhāin itمَءَارِبُmaāribu(are) usesأُخْرَىukh'rāother
  19. 19قَالَqālaHe saidأَلْقِهَاalqihāThrow it downيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!
  20. 20فَأَلْقَاهَاfa-alqāhāSo he threw it downفَإِذَاfa-idhāand behold!هِيَhiyaItحَيَّةٌḥayyatun(was) a snakeتَسْعَىtasʿāmoving swiftly
  21. 21قَالَqālaHe saidخُذْهَاkhudh'hāSeize itوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearسَنُعِيدُهَاsanuʿīduhāWe will return itسِيرَتَهَاsīratahā(to) its stateالْأُولَىl-ūlāthe former
  22. 22وَاضْمُمْwa-uḍ'mumAnd draw nearيَدَكَyadakayour handإِلَىilātoجَنَاحِكَjanāḥikayour sideتَخْرُجْtakhrujit will come outبَيْضَاءَbayḍāawhiteمِنْminwithout anyغَيْرِghayriwithout anyسُوءٍsūindiseaseءَايَةًāyatan(as) a signأُخْرَىukh'rāanother
  23. 23لِنُرِيَكَlinuriyakaThat We may show youمِنْminofءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Signsالْكُبْرَىl-kub'rāthe Greatest
  24. 24اذْهَبْidh'habGoإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heطَغَىṭaghā(has) transgressed
  25. 25قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!اشْرَحْish'raḥExpandلِيfor meصَدْرِيṣadrīmy breast
  26. 26وَيَسِّرْwayassirAnd easeلِيfor meأَمْرِيamrīmy task
  27. 27وَاحْلُلْwa-uḥ'lulAnd untieعُقْدَةًʿuq'datan(the) knotمِنْminfromلِسَانِيlisānīmy tongue
  28. 28يَفْقَهُواyafqahūThat they may understandقَوْلِيqawlīmy speech
  29. 29وَاجْعَلْwa-ij'ʿalAnd appointلِيfor meوَزِيرًاwazīrana ministerمِنْminfromأَهْلِيahlīmy family
  30. 30هَارُونَhārūnaHarunأَخِيakhīmy brother
  31. 31اشْدُدْush'dudReinforceبِهِbihithrough himأَزْرِيazrīmy strength
  32. 32وَأَشْرِكْهُwa-ashrik'huAnd make him shareفِي[in]أَمْرِيamrīmy task
  33. 33كَيْkayThatنُسَبِّحَكَnusabbiḥakawe may glorify Youكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch
  34. 34وَنَذْكُرَكَwanadhkurakaAnd [we] remember Youكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch
  35. 35إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed [You]كُنْتَkuntaYou areبِنَاbināof usبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
  36. 36قَالَqālaHe saidقَدْqadVerilyأُوتِيتَūtītayou are grantedسُؤْلَكَsu'lakayour requestيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!
  37. 37وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd indeedمَنَنَّاmanannāWe conferred a favorعَلَيْكَʿalaykaon youمَرَّةًmarratananother timeأُخْرَىukh'rāanother time
  38. 38إِذْidhWhenأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe inspiredإِلَىilātoأُمِّكَummikayour motherمَاwhatيُوحَىyūḥāis inspired
  39. 39أَنِaniThatاقْذِفِيهِiq'dhifīhicast himفِيinالتَّابُوتِl-tābūtithe chestفَاقْذِفِيهِfa-iq'dhifīhithen cast itفِيinالْيَمِّl-yamithe riverفَلْيُلْقِهِfalyul'qihithen let cast itالْيَمُّl-yamuthe riverبِالسَّاحِلِbil-sāḥilion the bankيَأْخُذْهُyakhudh'huwill take himعَدُوٌّʿaduwwunan enemyلِيto Meوَعَدُوٌّwaʿaduwwunand an enemyلَهُlahuto him."وَأَلْقَيْتُwa-alqaytuAnd I castعَلَيْكَʿalaykaover youمَحَبَّةًmaḥabbatanloveمِنِّيminnīfrom Meوَلِتُصْنَعَwalituṣ'naʿaand that you may be brought upعَلَىʿalāunderعَيْنِيʿaynīMy Eye
  40. 40إِذْidhWhenتَمْشِيtamshīwas goingأُخْتُكَukh'tukayour sisterفَتَقُولُfataqūluand she saidهَلْhalShallأَدُلُّكُمْadullukumI show youعَلَىʿalā[to]مَنْman(one) whoيَكْفُلُهُyakfuluhuwill nurse and rear him?"فَرَجَعْنَاكَfarajaʿnākaSo We returned youإِلَىilātoأُمِّكَummikayour motherكَيْkaythatتَقَرَّtaqarramay be cooledعَيْنُهَاʿaynuhāher eyesوَلَاwalāand notتَحْزَنَtaḥzanashe grievesوَقَتَلْتَwaqataltaAnd you killedنَفْسًاnafsana manفَنَجَّيْنَاكَfanajjaynākabut We saved youمِنَminafromالْغَمِّl-ghamithe distressوَفَتَنَّاكَwafatannākaand We tried youفُتُونًاfutūnan(with) a trialفَلَبِثْتَfalabith'taThen you remainedسِنِينَsinīna(some) yearsفِيwithأَهْلِahli(the) peopleمَدْيَنَmadyana(of) MadyanثُمَّthummaThenجِئْتَji'tayou cameعَلَىʿalāatقَدَرٍqadarinthe decreed (time)يَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!
  41. 41وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَwa-iṣ'ṭanaʿtukaAnd I (have) chosen youلِنَفْسِيlinafsīfor Myself
  42. 42اذْهَبْidh'habGoأَنْتَantayouوَأَخُوكَwa-akhūkaand your brotherبِءَايَاتِيbiāyātīwith My Signsوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَنِيَاtaniyāslackenفِيinذِكْرِيdhik'rīMy remembrance
  43. 43اذْهَبَاidh'habāGo both of youإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heطَغَىṭaghā(has) transgressed
  44. 44فَقُولَاfaqūlāAnd speakلَهُlahuto himقَوْلًاqawlana wordلَيِّنًاlayyinangentleلَعَلَّهُlaʿallahuperhaps heيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkarumay take heedأَوْaworيَخْشَىyakhshāfear
  45. 45قَالَاqālāThey saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!إِنَّنَاinnanāIndeed weنَخَافُnakhāfufearأَنْanthatيَفْرُطَyafruṭahe will hastenعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst usأَوْaworأَنْanthatيَطْغَىyaṭghāhe will transgress
  46. 46قَالَqālaHe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَافَاtakhāfāfearإِنَّنِيinnanīIndeed I Amمَعَكُمَاmaʿakumāwith you bothأَسْمَعُasmaʿuI hearوَأَرَىwa-arāand I see
  47. 47فَأْتِيَاهُfatiyāhuSo go to himفَقُولَاfaqūlāand sayإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weرَسُولَاrasūlāboth (are) Messengersرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordفَأَرْسِلْfa-arsilso sendمَعَنَاmaʿanāwith usبَنِيbanī(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israelوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُعَذِّبْهُمْtuʿadhib'humtorment themقَدْqadVerilyجِئْنَاكَji'nākawe came to youبِءَايَةٍbiāyatinwith a Signمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordوَالسَّلَامُwal-salāmuAnd peaceعَلَىʿalāonمَنِmani(one) whoاتَّبَعَittabaʿafollowsالْهُدَىl-hudāthe Guidance
  48. 48إِنَّاinnāIndeed weقَدْqadverilyأُوحِيَūḥiyait has been revealedإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usأَنَّannathatالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentعَلَىʿalā(will be) onمَنْman(one) whoكَذَّبَkadhabadeniesوَتَوَلَّىwatawallāand turns away."
  49. 49قَالَqālaHe saidفَمَنْfamanThen whoرَبُّكُمَاrabbukumā(is) your LordيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa
  50. 50قَالَqālaHe saidرَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lordالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَعْطَىaʿṭāgaveكُلَّkulla(to) everyشَيْءٍshayinthingخَلْقَهُkhalqahuits formثُمَّthummathenهَدَىhadāHe guided (it)
  51. 51قَالَqālaHe saidفَمَاfamāThen whatبَالُbālu(is the) caseالْقُرُونِl-qurūni(of) the generationsالْأُولَىl-ūlā(of) the former
  52. 52قَالَqālaHe saidعِلْمُهَاʿil'muhāIts knowledgeعِنْدَʿinda(is) withرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordفِيinكِتَابٍkitābina RecordلَاNotيَضِلُّyaḍilluerrsرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَلَاwalāand notيَنْسَىyansāforgets
  53. 53الَّذِيalladhīThe One Whoجَعَلَjaʿalamadeلَكُمُlakumufor youالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthمَهْدًاmahdan(as) a bedوَسَلَكَwasalakaand insertedلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيهَاfīhāthereinسُبُلًاsubulanwaysوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaand sent downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We (have) brought forthبِهِbihiwith itأَزْوَاجًاazwājanpairsمِنْminofنَبَاتٍnabātinplantsشَتَّىshattādiverse
  54. 54كُلُواkulūEatوَارْعَوْاwa-ir'ʿawand pastureأَنْعَامَكُمْanʿāmakumyour cattleإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِأُولِيli-ulīfor possessorsالنُّهَىl-nuhā(of) intelligence
  55. 55مِنْهَاmin'hāFrom itخَلَقْنَاكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created youوَفِيهَاwafīhāand in itنُعِيدُكُمْnuʿīdukumWe will return youوَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand from itنُخْرِجُكُمْnukh'rijukumWe will bring you outتَارَةًtāratantimeأُخْرَىukh'rāanother
  56. 56وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَرَيْنَاهُaraynāhuWe showed himءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Signsكُلَّهَاkullahāall of themفَكَذَّبَfakadhababut he deniedوَأَبَىwa-abāand refused
  57. 57قَالَqālaHe saidأَجِئْتَنَاaji'tanāHave you come to usلِتُخْرِجَنَاlitukh'rijanāto drive us outمِنْminofأَرْضِنَاarḍināour landبِسِحْرِكَbisiḥ'rikawith your magicيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa
  58. 58فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَfalanatiyannakaThen we will surely produce for youبِسِحْرٍbisiḥ'rinmagicمِثْلِهِmith'lihilike itفَاجْعَلْfa-ij'ʿalSo makeبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usوَبَيْنَكَwabaynakaand between youمَوْعِدًاmawʿidanan appointmentلَاnotنُخْلِفُهُnukh'lifuhuwe will fail itنَحْنُnaḥnu[we]وَلَاwalāand notأَنْتَantayouمَكَانًاmakānan(in) a placeسُوًىsuwaneven
  59. 59قَالَqālaHe saidمَوْعِدُكُمْmawʿidukumYour appointmentيَوْمُyawmu(is on the) dayالزِّينَةِl-zīnati(of) the festivalوَأَنْwa-anand thatيُحْشَرَyuḥ'sharawill be assembledالنَّاسُl-nāsuthe peopleضُحًىḍuḥan(at) forenoon
  60. 60فَتَوَلَّىfatawallāThen went awayفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunفَجَمَعَfajamaʿaand put togetherكَيْدَهُkaydahuhis planثُمَّthummathenأَتَىatācame
  61. 61قَالَqālaSaidلَهُمْlahumto themمُوسَىmūsāMusaوَيْلَكُمْwaylakumWoe to you!لَا(Do) notتَفْتَرُواtaftarūinventعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieفَيُسْحِتَكُمْfayus'ḥitakumlest He will destroy youبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinwith a punishmentوَقَدْwaqadAnd verilyخَابَkhābahe failedمَنِmaniwhoافْتَرَىif'tarāinvented
  62. 62فَتَنَازَعُواfatanāzaʿūThen they disputedأَمْرَهُمْamrahum(in) their affairبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themوَأَسَرُّواwa-asarrūand they kept secretالنَّجْوَىl-najwāthe private conversation
  63. 63قَالُواqālūThey saidإِنْinIndeedهَذَانِhādhānithese twoلَسَاحِرَانِlasāḥirāni[two] magiciansيُرِيدَانِyurīdānithey intendأَنْanthatيُخْرِجَاكُمْyukh'rijākumthey drive you outمِنْminofأَرْضِكُمْarḍikumyour landبِسِحْرِهِمَاbisiḥ'rihimāwith their magicوَيَذْهَبَاwayadhhabāand do awayبِطَرِيقَتِكُمُbiṭarīqatikumuwith your wayالْمُثْلَىl-muth'lāthe exemplary
  64. 64فَأَجْمِعُواfa-ajmiʿūSo put togetherكَيْدَكُمْkaydakumyour planثُمَّthummathenائْتُواi'tūcomeصَفًّاṣaffan(in) a lineوَقَدْwaqadAnd verilyأَفْلَحَaflaḥa(will be) successfulالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayمَنِmaniwhoاسْتَعْلَىis'taʿlāovercomes
  65. 65قَالُواqālūThey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!إِمَّاimmāEitherأَنْan[that]تُلْقِيَtul'qiyayou throwوَإِمَّاwa-immāorأَنْan[that]نَكُونَnakūnawe will beأَوَّلَawwalathe firstمَنْmanwhoأَلْقَىalqāthrows
  66. 66قَالَqālaHe saidبَلْbalNayأَلْقُواalqūyou throwفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen behold!حِبَالُهُمْḥibāluhumTheir ropesوَعِصِيُّهُمْwaʿiṣiyyuhumand their staffsيُخَيَّلُyukhayyaluseemedإِلَيْهِilayhito himمِنْminbyسِحْرِهِمْsiḥ'rihimtheir magicأَنَّهَاannahāthat theyتَسْعَىtasʿā(were) moving
  67. 67فَأَوْجَسَfa-awjasaSo sensedفِيinنَفْسِهِnafsihihimselfخِيفَةًkhīfatana fearمُوسَىmūsāMusa
  68. 68قُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youأَنْتَantayouالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlā(will be) superior
  69. 69وَأَلْقِwa-alqiAnd throwمَاwhatفِي(is) inيَمِينِكَyamīnikayour right handتَلْقَفْtalqafit will swallow upمَاwhatصَنَعُواṣanaʿūthey have madeإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyصَنَعُواṣanaʿūthey (have) madeكَيْدُkaydua trickسَاحِرٍsāḥirin(of) a magicianوَلَاwalāand notيُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successfulالسَّاحِرُl-sāḥiruthe magicianحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverأَتَىatāhe comes
  70. 70فَأُلْقِيَfa-ul'qiyaSo were thrown downالسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magiciansسُجَّدًاsujjadanprostratingقَالُواqālūThey saidءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِرَبِّbirabbiin (the) Lordهَارُونَhārūna(of) Harunوَمُوسَىwamūsāand Musa
  71. 71قَالَqālaHe saidءَامَنْتُمْāmantumYou believeلَهُlahu[to] himقَبْلَqablabeforeأَنْan[that]ءَاذَنَādhanaI gave permissionلَكُمْlakumto youإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heلَكَبِيرُكُمُlakabīrukumu(is) your chiefالَّذِيalladhīthe one whoعَلَّمَكُمُʿallamakumutaught youالسِّحْرَl-siḥ'rathe magicفَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّfala-uqaṭṭiʿannaSo surely I will cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْaydiyakumyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمْwa-arjulakumand your feetمِنْminofخِلَافٍkhilāfinopposite sidesوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْwala-uṣallibannakumand surely I will crucify youفِيonجُذُوعِjudhūʿi(the) trunksالنَّخْلِl-nakhli(of) date-palmsوَلَتَعْلَمُنَّwalataʿlamunnaand surely you will knowأَيُّنَاayyunāwhich of usأَشَدُّashaddu(is) more severeعَذَابًاʿadhāban(in) punishmentوَأَبْقَىwa-abqāand more lasting
  72. 72قَالُواqālūThey saidلَنْlanNeverنُؤْثِرَكَnu'thirakawe will prefer youعَلَىʿalāoverمَاwhatجَاءَنَاjāanāhas come to usمِنَminaofالْبَيِّنَاتِl-bayinātithe clear proofsوَالَّذِيwa-alladhīand the One Whoفَطَرَنَاfaṭaranācreated usفَاقْضِfa-iq'ḍiSo decreeمَاwhateverأَنْتَantayouقَاضٍqāḍin(are) decreeingإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyتَقْضِيtaqḍīyou can decreeهَذِهِhādhihi(for) thisالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatalifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the world
  73. 73إِنَّاinnāIndeed [we]ءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believeبِرَبِّنَاbirabbināin our Lordلِيَغْفِرَliyaghfirathat He may forgiveلَنَاlanāfor usخَطَايَانَاkhaṭāyānāour sinsوَمَاwamāand whatأَكْرَهْتَنَاakrahtanāyou compelled usعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itمِنَminaofالسِّحْرِl-siḥ'rithe magicوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) Bestوَأَبْقَىwa-abqāand Ever Lasting
  74. 74إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heمَنْmanwhoيَأْتِyaticomesرَبَّهُrabbahu(to) his Lordمُجْرِمًاmuj'riman(as) a criminalفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedلَهُlahufor himجَهَنَّمَjahannama(is) HellلَاNotيَمُوتُyamūtuhe will dieفِيهَاfīhāin itوَلَاwalāand notيَحْيَىyaḥyālive
  75. 75وَمَنْwamanBut whoeverيَأْتِهِyatihicomes to Himمُؤْمِنًاmu'minan(as) a believerقَدْqadverilyعَمِلَʿamilahe has doneالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseلَهُمُlahumufor themالدَّرَجَاتُl-darajātu(will be) the ranksالْعُلَىl-ʿulā[the] high
  76. 76جَنَّاتُjannātuGardensعَدْنٍʿadnin(of) Edenتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَذَلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatجَزَاءُjazāu(is) the rewardمَنْman(for him) whoتَزَكَّىtazakkāpurifies himself
  77. 77وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe inspiredإِلَىilātoمُوسَىmūsāMusaأَنْanthatأَسْرِasriTravel by nightبِعِبَادِيbiʿibādīwith My slavesفَاضْرِبْfa-iḍ'riband strikeلَهُمْlahumfor themطَرِيقًاṭarīqana pathفِيinالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaيَبَسًاyabasandryلَاnotتَخَافُtakhāfufearingدَرَكًاdarakanto be overtakenوَلَاwalāand notتَخْشَىtakhshābeing afraid
  78. 78فَأَتْبَعَهُمْfa-atbaʿahumThen followed themفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunبِجُنُودِهِbijunūdihiwith his forcesفَغَشِيَهُمْfaghashiyahumbut covered themمِنَminafromالْيَمِّl-yamithe seaمَاwhatغَشِيَهُمْghashiyahumcovered them
  79. 79وَأَضَلَّwa-aḍallaAnd led astrayفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunقَوْمَهُqawmahuhis peopleوَمَاwamāand (did) notهَدَىhadāguide them
  80. 80يَابَنِيyābanīO Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīlaO Children of IsraelقَدْqadVerilyأَنْجَيْنَاكُمْanjaynākumWe delivered youمِنْminfromعَدُوِّكُمْʿaduwwikumyour enemyوَوَاعَدْنَاكُمْwawāʿadnākumand We made a covenant with youجَانِبَjānibaon (the) sideالطُّورِl-ṭūri(of) the Mountالْأَيْمَنَl-aymanathe rightوَنَزَّلْنَاwanazzalnāand We sent downعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto youالْمَنَّl-manathe Mannaوَالسَّلْوَىwal-salwāand the quails
  81. 81كُلُواkulūEatمِنْminofطَيِّبَاتِṭayyibāti(the) good thingsمَاwhichرَزَقْنَاكُمْrazaqnākumWe have provided youوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَطْغَوْاtaṭghawtransgressفِيهِfīhithereinفَيَحِلَّfayaḥillalest should descendعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youغَضَبِيghaḍabīMy AngerوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَحْلِلْyaḥlilon whom descendsعَلَيْهِʿalayhion whom descendsغَضَبِيghaḍabīMy Angerفَقَدْfaqadindeedهَوَىhawāhe (has) perished
  82. 82وَإِنِّيwa-innīBut indeed I Amلَغَفَّارٌlaghaffārunthe Perpetual Forgiverلِمَنْlimanof whoeverتَابَtābarepentsوَءَامَنَwaāmanaand believesوَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand doesصَالِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous (deeds)ثُمَّthummathenاهْتَدَىih'tadāremains guided
  83. 83وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَعْجَلَكَaʿjalakamade you hastenعَنْʿanfromقَوْمِكَqawmikayour peopleيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa
  84. 84قَالَqālaHe saidهُمْhumTheyأُولَاءِulāi(are) closeعَلَىʿalāuponأَثَرِيatharīmy tracksوَعَجِلْتُwaʿajil'tuand I hastenedإِلَيْكَilaykato youرَبِّrabbimy Lordلِتَرْضَىlitarḍāthat You be pleased
  85. 85قَالَqālaHe saidفَإِنَّاfa-innāBut indeed, Weقَدْqad[verily]فَتَنَّاfatannāWe (have) triedقَوْمَكَqawmakayour peopleمِنْminafter youبَعْدِكَbaʿdikaafter youوَأَضَلَّهُمُwa-aḍallahumuand has led them astrayالسَّامِرِيُّl-sāmiriyuthe Samiri
  86. 86فَرَجَعَfarajaʿaThen Musa returnedمُوسَىmūsāThen Musa returnedإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleغَضْبَانَghaḍbānaangryأَسِفًاasifan(and) sorrowfulقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleأَلَمْalamDid notيَعِدْكُمْyaʿid'kumpromise youرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordوَعْدًاwaʿdana promiseحَسَنًاḥasanangoodأَفَطَالَafaṭālaThen, did seem longعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto youالْعَهْدُl-ʿahduthe promiseأَمْamorأَرَدْتُمْaradttumdid you desireأَنْanthatيَحِلَّyaḥilladescendعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youغَضَبٌghaḍabun(the) Angerمِنْminofرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordفَأَخْلَفْتُمْfa-akhlaftumso you brokeمَوْعِدِيmawʿidī(the) promise to me
  87. 87قَالُواqālūThey saidمَاNotأَخْلَفْنَاakhlafnāwe brokeمَوْعِدَكَmawʿidakapromise to youبِمَلْكِنَاbimalkināby our willوَلَكِنَّاwalākinnābut weحُمِّلْنَاḥummil'nā[we] were made to carryأَوْزَارًاawzāranburdensمِنْminfromزِينَةِzīnatiornamentsالْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the peopleفَقَذَفْنَاهَاfaqadhafnāhāso we threw themفَكَذَلِكَfakadhālikaand thusأَلْقَىalqāthrewالسَّامِرِيُّl-sāmiriyuthe Samiri
  88. 88فَأَخْرَجَfa-akhrajaThen he brought forthلَهُمْlahumfor themعِجْلًاʿij'lana calf'sجَسَدًاjasadanbodyلَهُlahuit hadخُوَارٌkhuwāruna lowing soundفَقَالُواfaqālūand they saidهَذَاhādhāThisإِلَهُكُمْilāhukum(is) your godوَإِلَهُwa-ilāhuand the godمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musaفَنَسِيَfanasiyabut he forgot
  89. 89أَفَلَاafalāThen did notيَرَوْنَyarawnathey seeأَلَّاallāthat notيَرْجِعُyarjiʿuit (could) returnإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themقَوْلًاqawlana wordوَلَاwalāand notيَمْلِكُyamlikupossessلَهُمْlahumfor themضَرًّاḍarranany harmوَلَاwalāand notنَفْعًاnafʿanany benefit
  90. 90وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyقَالَqāla(had) saidلَهُمْlahumto themهَارُونُhārūnuHarunمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyفُتِنْتُمْfutintumyou are being testedبِهِbihiby itوَإِنَّwa-innaand indeedرَبَّكُمُrabbakumuyour Lordالرَّحْمَنُl-raḥmānu(is) the Most Graciousفَاتَّبِعُونِيfa-ittabiʿūnīso follow meوَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūand obeyأَمْرِيamrīmy order
  91. 91قَالُواqālūThey saidلَنْlanNeverنَبْرَحَnabraḥawe will ceaseعَلَيْهِʿalayhibeing devoted to itعَاكِفِينَʿākifīnabeing devoted to itحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَرْجِعَyarjiʿareturnsإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usمُوسَىmūsāMusa
  92. 92قَالَqālaHe saidيَاهَارُونُyāhārūnuO Harun!مَاWhatمَنَعَكَmanaʿakaprevented youإِذْidhwhenرَأَيْتَهُمْra-aytahumyou saw themضَلُّواḍallūgoing astray
  93. 93أَلَّاallāThat notتَتَّبِعَنِtattabiʿaniyou follow meأَفَعَصَيْتَafaʿaṣaytaThen have you disobeyedأَمْرِيamrīmy order
  94. 94قَالَqālaHe saidيَاابْنَأُمَّyabna-ummaO son of my motherلَا(Do) notتَأْخُذْtakhudhseize (me)بِلِحْيَتِيbiliḥ'yatīby my beardوَلَاwalāand notبِرَأْسِيbirasīby my headإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iخَشِيتُkhashītu[I] fearedأَنْanthatتَقُولَtaqūlayou would sayفَرَّقْتَfarraqtaYou caused divisionبَيْنَbaynabetweenبَنِيbanī(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israelوَلَمْwalamand notتَرْقُبْtarqubyou respectقَوْلِيqawlīmy word
  95. 95قَالَqālaHe saidفَمَاfamāThen whatخَطْبُكَkhaṭbuka(is) your caseيَاسَامِرِيُّyāsāmiriyyuO Samiri
  96. 96قَالَqālaHe saidبَصُرْتُbaṣur'tuI perceivedبِمَاbimāwhatلَمْlamnotيَبْصُرُواyabṣurūthey perceiveبِهِbihiin itفَقَبَضْتُfaqabaḍtuso I tookقَبْضَةًqabḍatana handfulمِنْminfromأَثَرِathari(the) trackالرَّسُولِl-rasūli(of) the Messengerفَنَبَذْتُهَاfanabadhtuhāthen threw itوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaand thusسَوَّلَتْsawwalatsuggestedلِيto meنَفْسِيnafsīmy soul
  97. 97قَالَqālaHe saidفَاذْهَبْfa-idh'habThen goفَإِنَّfa-innaAnd indeedلَكَlakafor youفِيinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeأَنْanthatتَقُولَtaqūlayou will sayلَا(Do) notمِسَاسَmisāsatouch."وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَكَlakafor youمَوْعِدًاmawʿidan(is) an appointmentلَنْlanneverتُخْلَفَهُtukh'lafahuyou will fail to (keep) itوَانْظُرْwa-unẓurAnd lookإِلَىilāatإِلَهِكَilāhikayour godالَّذِيalladhīthat whichظَلْتَẓaltayou have remainedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito itعَاكِفًاʿākifandevotedلَنُحَرِّقَنَّهُlanuḥarriqannahuSurely we will burn itثُمَّthummathenلَنَنْسِفَنَّهُlanansifannahucertainly we will scatter itفِيinالْيَمِّl-yamithe seaنَسْفًاnasfan(in) particles
  98. 98إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyإِلَهُكُمُilāhukumuyour Godاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe Oneلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeوَسِعَwasiʿaHe has encompassedكُلَّkullaallشَيْءٍshayinthingsعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledge
  99. 99كَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنَقُصُّnaquṣṣuWe relateعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْminfromأَنْبَاءِanbāi(the) newsمَا(of) whatقَدْqadhas precededسَبَقَsabaqahas precededوَقَدْwaqadAnd certainlyءَاتَيْنَاكَātaynākaWe have given youمِنْminfromلَدُنَّاladunnāUsذِكْرًاdhik'rana Reminder
  100. 100مَنْmanWhoeverأَعْرَضَaʿraḍaturns awayعَنْهُʿanhufrom itفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed heيَحْمِلُyaḥmiluwill bearيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) Resurrectionوِزْرًاwiz'rana burden
  101. 101خَالِدِينَkhālidīnaAbiding foreverفِيهِfīhiin itوَسَاءَwasāaand evilلَهُمْlahumfor themيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionحِمْلًاḥim'lan(as) a load
  102. 102يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيُنْفَخُyunfakhuwill be blownفِيinالصُّورِl-ṣūrithe Trumpetوَنَحْشُرُwanaḥshuruand We will gatherالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminalsيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayزُرْقًاzur'qanblue-eyed
  103. 103يَتَخَافَتُونَyatakhāfatūnaThey are murmuringبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themselvesإِنْinNotلَبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou remainedإِلَّاillāexcept (for)عَشْرًاʿashranten
  104. 104نَحْنُnaḥnuWeأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknow bestبِمَاbimāwhatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey will sayإِذْidhwhenيَقُولُyaqūluwill sayأَمْثَلُهُمْamthaluhum(the) best of themطَرِيقَةًṭarīqatan(in) conductإِنْinNotلَبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou remainedإِلَّاillāexcept (for)يَوْمًاyawmana day
  105. 105وَيَسْءَلُونَكَwayasalūnakaAnd they ask youعَنِʿaniaboutالْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountainsفَقُلْfaqulso sayيَنْسِفُهَاyansifuhāWill blast themرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordنَسْفًاnasfan(into) particles
  106. 106فَيَذَرُهَاfayadharuhāThen He will leave itقَاعًاqāʿana levelصَفْصَفًاṣafṣafanplain
  107. 107لَاNotتَرَىtarāyou will seeفِيهَاfīhāin itعِوَجًاʿiwajanany crookednessوَلَاwalāand notأَمْتًاamtanany curve
  108. 108يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinOn that Dayيَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey will followالدَّاعِيَl-dāʿiyathe callerلَاnoعِوَجَʿiwajadeviationلَهُlahufrom itوَخَشَعَتِwakhashaʿatiAnd (will be) humbledالْأَصْوَاتُl-aṣwātuthe voicesلِلرَّحْمَنِlilrraḥmānifor the Most Graciousفَلَاfalāso notتَسْمَعُtasmaʿuyou will hearإِلَّاillāexceptهَمْسًاhamsana faint sound
  109. 109يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(On) that Dayلَاnotتَنْفَعُtanfaʿuwill benefitالشَّفَاعَةُl-shafāʿatuthe intercessionإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(to) whomأَذِنَadhinahas given permissionلَهُlahu[to him]الرَّحْمَنُl-raḥmānuthe Most Graciousوَرَضِيَwaraḍiyaand He has acceptedلَهُlahufor himقَوْلًاqawlana word
  110. 110يَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاwhatبَيْنَbayna(is) before themأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhim(is) before themوَمَاwamāand whatخَلْفَهُمْkhalfahum(is) behind themوَلَاwalāwhile notيُحِيطُونَyuḥīṭūnathey encompassبِهِbihiitعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledge
  111. 111وَعَنَتِwaʿanatiAnd (will be) humbledالْوُجُوهُl-wujūhuthe facesلِلْحَيِّlil'ḥayyibefore the Ever-Livingالْقَيُّومِl-qayūmithe Self-SubsistingوَقَدْwaqadAnd verilyخَابَkhābawill have failedمَنْman(he) whoحَمَلَḥamalacarriedظُلْمًاẓul'manwrongdoing
  112. 112وَمَنْwamanBut (he) whoيَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoesمِنَminaofالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsوَهُوَwahuwawhile heمُؤْمِنٌmu'minun(is) a believerفَلَاfalāthen notيَخَافُyakhāfuhe will fearظُلْمًاẓul'maninjusticeوَلَاwalāand notهَضْمًاhaḍmandeprivation
  113. 113وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe have sent it downقُرْءَانًاqur'ānan(the) Quranعَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabicوَصَرَّفْنَاwaṣarrafnāand We have explainedفِيهِfīhiin itمِنَminaofالْوَعِيدِl-waʿīdithe warningsلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumthat they mayيَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafearأَوْaworيُحْدِثُyuḥ'dithuit may causeلَهُمْlahum[for] themذِكْرًاdhik'ranremembrance
  114. 114فَتَعَالَىfataʿālāSo high (above all)اللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالْمَلِكُl-malikuthe Kingالْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe TrueوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَعْجَلْtaʿjalhastenبِالْقُرْءَانِbil-qur'āniwith the Quranمِنْminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]يُقْضَىyuq'ḍāis completedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَحْيُهُwaḥyuhuits revelationوَقُلْwaquland sayرَبِّrabbiMy Lordزِدْنِيzid'nīIncrease meعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledge
  115. 115وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyعَهِدْنَاʿahid'nāWe made a covenantإِلَىilāwithءَادَمَādamaAdamمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeفَنَسِيَfanasiyabut he forgotوَلَمْwalamand notنَجِدْnajidWe foundلَهُlahuin himعَزْمًاʿazmandetermination
  116. 116وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلِلْمَلَائِكَةِlil'malāikatito the Angelsاسْجُدُواus'judūProstrateلِءَادَمَliādamato Adamفَسَجَدُواfasajadūthen they prostratedإِلَّاillāexceptإِبْلِيسَib'līsaIblisأَبَىabāhe refused
  117. 117فَقُلْنَاfaqul'nāThen We saidيَاءَادَمُyāādamuO Adam!إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisعَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(is) an enemyلَكَlakato youوَلِزَوْجِكَwalizawjikaand to your wifeفَلَاfalāSo notيُخْرِجَنَّكُمَاyukh'rijannakumā(let) him drive you bothمِنَminafromالْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadiseفَتَشْقَىfatashqāso (that) you would suffer
  118. 118إِنَّinnaIndeedلَكَlakafor youأَلَّاallāthat notتَجُوعَtajūʿayou will be hungryفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَلَاwalāand notتَعْرَىtaʿrāyou will be unclothed
  119. 119وَأَنَّكَwa-annakaAnd that youلَاnotتَظْمَؤُاtaẓma-uwill suffer from thirstفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَلَاwalāand notتَضْحَىtaḍḥāexposed to the sun's heat
  120. 120فَوَسْوَسَfawaswasaThen whisperedإِلَيْهِilayhito himالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuShaitaanقَالَqālahe saidيَاءَادَمُyāādamuO Adam!هَلْhalShallأَدُلُّكَadullukaI direct youعَلَىʿalātoشَجَرَةِshajarati(the) treeالْخُلْدِl-khul'di(of) the Eternityوَمُلْكٍwamul'kinand a kingdomلَاnotيَبْلَىyablā(that will) deteriorate
  121. 121فَأَكَلَاfa-akalāThen they both ateمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itفَبَدَتْfabadatso became apparentلَهُمَاlahumāto themسَوْءَاتُهُمَاsawātuhumātheir shameوَطَفِقَاwaṭafiqāand they beganيَخْصِفَانِyakhṣifāni(to) fastenعَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimāon themselvesمِنْminfromوَرَقِwaraqi(the) leavesالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) ParadiseوَعَصَىwaʿaṣāAnd Adam disobeyedءَادَمُādamuAnd Adam disobeyedرَبَّهُrabbahuhis Lordفَغَوَىfaghawāand erred
  122. 122ثُمَّthummaThenاجْتَبَاهُij'tabāhuchose himرَبُّهُrabbuhuhis Lordفَتَابَfatābaand turnedعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himوَهَدَىwahadāand guided (him)
  123. 123قَالَqālaHe saidاهْبِطَاih'biṭāGo downمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumsome of youلِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto othersعَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(as) enemyفَإِمَّاfa-immāThen ifيَأْتِيَنَّكُمْyatiyannakumcomes to youمِنِّيminnīfrom Meهُدًىhudanguidanceفَمَنِfamanithen whoeverاتَّبَعَittabaʿafollowsهُدَايَhudāyaMy guidanceفَلَاfalāthen notيَضِلُّyaḍilluhe will go astrayوَلَاwalāand notيَشْقَىyashqāsuffer
  124. 124وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverأَعْرَضَaʿraḍaturns awayعَنْʿanfromذِكْرِيdhik'rīMy remembranceفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedلَهُlahufor himمَعِيشَةًmaʿīshatan(is) a lifeضَنْكًاḍankanstraitenedوَنَحْشُرُهُwanaḥshuruhuand We will gather himيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionأَعْمَىaʿmāblind
  125. 125قَالَqālaHe will sayرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!لِمَlimaWhyحَشَرْتَنِيḥashartanīYou raised meأَعْمَىaʿmāblindوَقَدْwaqadwhile [verily]كُنْتُkuntuI hadبَصِيرًاbaṣīransight
  126. 126قَالَqālaHe will sayكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusأَتَتْكَatatkacame to youءَايَاتُنَاāyātunāOur Signsفَنَسِيتَهَاfanasītahābut you forgot themوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaand thusالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayتُنْسَىtunsāyou will be forgotten
  127. 127وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِيnajzīWe recompenseمَنْman(he) whoأَسْرَفَasrafatransgressesوَلَمْwalamand notيُؤْمِنْyu'minbelievesبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Signsرَبِّهِrabbihi(of) his LordوَلَعَذَابُwalaʿadhābuAnd surely (the) punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterأَشَدُّashaddu(is) more severeوَأَبْقَىwa-abqāand more lasting
  128. 128أَفَلَمْafalamThen has notيَهْدِyahdiit guidedلَهُمْlahum[for] themكَمْkamhow manyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe (have) destroyedقَبْلَهُمْqablahumbefore themمِنَminaofالْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generationsيَمْشُونَyamshūna(as) they walkفِيinمَسَاكِنِهِمْmasākinihimtheir dwellingsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِأُولِيli-ulīfor possessorsالنُّهَىl-nuhā(of) intelligence
  129. 129وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notكَلِمَةٌkalimatun(for) a Wordسَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) precededمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَكَانَlakānasurely (would) have beenلِزَامًاlizāmanan obligationوَأَجَلٌwa-ajalunand a termمُسَمًّىmusammandetermined
  130. 130فَاصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patientعَلَىʿalāoverمَاwhatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayوَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥand glorifyبِحَمْدِbiḥamdiwith praiseرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordقَبْلَqablabeforeطُلُوعِṭulūʿi(the) risingالشَّمْسِl-shamsi(of) the sunوَقَبْلَwaqablaand beforeغُرُوبِهَاghurūbihāits settingوَمِنْwaminand fromءَانَائِānāi(the) hoursاللَّيْلِal-layli(of) the nightفَسَبِّحْfasabbiḥand glorifyوَأَطْرَافَwa-aṭrāfa(at the) endsالنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the dayلَعَلَّكَlaʿallakaso that you mayتَرْضَىtarḍābe satisfied
  131. 131وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَمُدَّنَّtamuddannaextendعَيْنَيْكَʿaynaykayour eyesإِلَىilātowardsمَاwhatمَتَّعْنَاmattaʿnāWe have given for enjoymentبِهِbihi[with it]أَزْوَاجًاazwājanpairsمِنْهُمْmin'humof themزَهْرَةَzahrata(the) splendorالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati(of) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldلِنَفْتِنَهُمْlinaftinahumthat We may test themفِيهِfīhiin itوَرِزْقُwariz'quAnd (the) provisionرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterوَأَبْقَىwa-abqāand more lasting
  132. 132وَأْمُرْwamurAnd enjoinأَهْلَكَahlaka(on) your familyبِالصَّلَوةِbil-ṣalatithe prayerوَاصْطَبِرْwa-iṣ'ṭabirand be steadfastعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāthereinلَاNotنَسْءَلُكُnasalukaWe ask youرِزْقًاriz'qan(for) provisionنَحْنُnaḥnuWeنَرْزُقُكَnarzuqukaprovide (for) youوَالْعَاقِبَةُwal-ʿāqibatuand the outcomeلِلتَّقْوَىlilttaqwā(is) for the righteous[ness]
  133. 133وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notيَأْتِينَاyatīnāhe brings usبِءَايَةٍbiāyatina signمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordأَوَلَمْawalamHas notتَأْتِهِمْtatihimcome to themبَيِّنَةُbayyinatuevidenceمَا(of) whatفِي(was) inالصُّحُفِl-ṣuḥufithe Scripturesالْأُولَىl-ūlāthe former
  134. 134وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّاannāWeأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْahlaknāhum(had) destroyed themبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinwith a punishmentمِنْminbefore himقَبْلِهِqablihibefore himلَقَالُواlaqālūsurely they (would) have saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordلَوْلَاlawlāwhy notأَرْسَلْتَarsaltaYou sentإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usرَسُولًاrasūlana Messengerفَنَتَّبِعَfanattabiʿaso we (could) have followedءَايَاتِكَāyātikaYour signsمِنْminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]نَذِلَّnadhillawe were humiliatedوَنَخْزَىwanakhzāand disgraced
  135. 135قُلْqulSayكُلٌّkullunEachمُتَرَبِّصٌmutarabbiṣun(is) waitingفَتَرَبَّصُواfatarabbaṣūso awaitفَسَتَعْلَمُونَfasataʿlamūnaThen you will knowمَنْmanwhoأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالصِّرَاطِl-ṣirāṭi(of) the wayالسَّوِيِّl-sawiyi[the] evenوَمَنِwamaniand whoاهْتَدَىih'tadāis guided
