بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 17 — Al-Israa

  1. 1سُبْحَانَsub'ḥānaExaltedالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One WhoأَسْرَىasrātookبِعَبْدِهِbiʿabdihiHis servantلَيْلًاlaylan(by) nightمِنَminafromالْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiAl-Masjidالْحَرَامِl-ḥarāmiAl-Haraamإِلَىilātoالْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiAl-Masjidالْأَقْصَاl-aqṣāAl-AqsaالَّذِيalladhīwhichبَارَكْنَاbāraknāWe blessedحَوْلَهُḥawlahuits surroundingsلِنُرِيَهُlinuriyahuthat We may show himمِنْminofءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur SignsإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed HeهُوَhuwaHeالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْبَصِيرُl-baṣīruthe All-Seer
  2. 2وَءَاتَيْنَاwaātaynāAnd We gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَجَعَلْنَاهُwajaʿalnāhuand made itهُدًىhudana guidanceلِبَنِيlibanīfor the Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) IsraelأَلَّاallāThat notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūyou takeمِنْminother than Meدُونِيdūnīother than Meوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a Disposer of affairs
  3. 3ذُرِّيَّةَdhurriyyataOffspringsمَنْman(of one) whoحَمَلْنَاḥamalnāWe carriedمَعَmaʿawithنُوحٍnūḥinNuhإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heكَانَkānawasعَبْدًاʿabdana servantشَكُورًاshakūrangrateful
  4. 4وَقَضَيْنَاwaqaḍaynāAnd We decreedإِلَىilāforبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelفِيinالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookلَتُفْسِدُنَّlatuf'sidunnaSurely you will cause corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمَرَّتَيْنِmarrataynitwiceوَلَتَعْلُنَّwalataʿlunnaand surely you will reachعُلُوًّاʿuluwwanhaughtinessكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  5. 5فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenجَاءَjāacameوَعْدُwaʿdu(the) promiseأُولَاهُمَاūlāhumā(for) the first of the twoبَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe raisedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumagainst youعِبَادًاʿibādanservantsلَنَاlanāof Oursأُولِيulīthose of great military mightبَأْسٍbasinthose of great military mightشَدِيدٍshadīdinthose of great military mightفَجَاسُواfajāsūand they enteredخِلَالَkhilālathe inner most partالدِّيَارِl-diyāri(of) the homesوَكَانَwakānaand (it) wasوَعْدًاwaʿdana promiseمَفْعُولًاmafʿūlanfulfilled
  6. 6ثُمَّthummaThenرَدَدْنَاradadnāWe gave backلَكُمُlakumuto youالْكَرَّةَl-karatathe return victoryعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَأَمْدَدْنَاكُمْwa-amdadnākumAnd We reinforced youبِأَمْوَالٍbi-amwālinwith the wealthوَبَنِينَwabanīnaand sonsوَجَعَلْنَاكُمْwajaʿalnākumand made youأَكْثَرَaktharamoreنَفِيرًاnafīrannumerous
  7. 7إِنْinIfأَحْسَنْتُمْaḥsantumyou do goodأَحْسَنْتُمْaḥsantumyou do goodلِأَنْفُسِكُمْli-anfusikumfor yourselvesوَإِنْwa-inand ifأَسَأْتُمْasatumyou do evilفَلَهَاfalahāthen it is for itفَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenجَاءَjāacameوَعْدُwaʿdupromiseالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe lastلِيَسُوءُواliyasūūto saddenوُجُوهَكُمْwujūhakumyour facesوَلِيَدْخُلُواwaliyadkhulūand to enterالْمَسْجِدَl-masjidathe Masjidكَمَاkamājust asدَخَلُوهُdakhalūhuthey (had) entered itأَوَّلَawwalafirstمَرَّةٍmarratintimeوَلِيُتَبِّرُواwaliyutabbirūand to destroyمَاwhatعَلَوْاʿalawthey had conqueredتَتْبِيرًاtatbīran(with) destruction
  8. 8عَسَىʿasā(It) may beرَبُّكُمْrabbukumthat your Lordأَنْanthat your Lordيَرْحَمَكُمْyarḥamakum(may) have mercy upon youوَإِنْwa-inBut ifعُدْتُمْʿudttumyou returnعُدْنَاʿud'nāWe will returnوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We have madeجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversحَصِيرًاḥaṣīrana prison-bed
  9. 9إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranيَهْدِيyahdīguidesلِلَّتِيlillatīto thatهِيَhiyawhichأَقْوَمُaqwamu(is) most straightوَيُبَشِّرُwayubashiruand gives glad tidingsالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnato the believersالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsأَنَّannathatلَهُمْlahumfor themأَجْرًاajran(is) a rewardكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  10. 10وَأَنَّwa-annaAnd thatالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the HereafterأَعْتَدْنَاaʿtadnāWe have preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
  11. 11وَيَدْعُwayadʿuAnd praysالْإِنْسَانُl-insānuthe manبِالشَّرِّbil-sharifor evilدُعَاءَهُduʿāahu(as) he praysبِالْخَيْرِbil-khayrifor the goodوَكَانَwakānaAnd isالْإِنْسَانُl-insānuthe manعَجُولًاʿajūlanever hasty
  12. 12وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We have madeاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَالنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayءَايَتَيْنِāyatayni(as) two signsفَمَحَوْنَاfamaḥawnāThen We erasedءَايَةَāyata(the) signاللَّيْلِal-layli(of) the nightوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeءَايَةَāyata(the) signالنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the dayمُبْصِرَةًmub'ṣiratanvisibleلِتَبْتَغُواlitabtaghūthat you may seekفَضْلًاfaḍlanbountyمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَلِتَعْلَمُواwalitaʿlamūand that you may knowعَدَدَʿadada(the) numberالسِّنِينَl-sinīna(of) the yearsوَالْحِسَابَwal-ḥisābaand the accountوَكُلَّwakullaAnd everyشَيْءٍshayinthingفَصَّلْنَاهُfaṣṣalnāhuWe have explained itتَفْصِيلًاtafṣīlan(in) detail
  13. 13وَكُلَّwakullaAnd (for) everyإِنْسَانٍinsāninmanأَلْزَمْنَاهُalzamnāhuWe have fastened to himطَائِرَهُṭāirahuhis fateفِيinعُنُقِهِʿunuqihihis neckوَنُخْرِجُwanukh'rijuand We will bring forthلَهُlahufor himيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionكِتَابًاkitābana recordيَلْقَاهُyalqāhuwhich he will findمَنْشُورًاmanshūranwide open
  14. 14اقْرَأْiq'raReadكِتَابَكَkitābakayour recordكَفَىkafāSufficientبِنَفْسِكَbinafsika(is) yourselfالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayعَلَيْكَʿalaykaagainst youحَسِيبًاḥasīban(as) accountant
  15. 15مَنِmaniWhoeverاهْتَدَىih'tadā(is) guidedفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَهْتَدِيyahtadīhe is guidedلِنَفْسِهِlinafsihifor his soulوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverضَلَّḍallagoes astrayفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَضِلُّyaḍilluhe goes astrayعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāagainst itوَلَاwalāAnd notتَزِرُtaziruwill bearوَازِرَةٌwāziratunone laden with burdenوِزْرَwiz'raburdenأُخْرَىukh'rā(of) anotherوَمَاwamāAnd notكُنَّاkunnāWeمُعَذِّبِينَmuʿadhibīnaare to punishحَتَّىḥattāuntilنَبْعَثَnabʿathaWe have sentرَسُولًاrasūlana Messenger
  16. 16وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenأَرَدْنَاaradnāWe intendأَنْanthatنُهْلِكَnuh'likaWe destroyقَرْيَةًqaryatana townأَمَرْنَاamarnāWe orderمُتْرَفِيهَاmut'rafīhāits wealthy peopleفَفَسَقُواfafasaqūbut they defiantly disobeyفِيهَاfīhāthereinفَحَقَّfaḥaqqaso (is) proved trueعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāagainst itالْقَوْلُl-qawluthe wordفَدَمَّرْنَاهَاfadammarnāhāand We destroy itتَدْمِيرًاtadmīran(with) destruction
  17. 17وَكَمْwakamAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyedمِنَminafromالْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generationsمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterنُوحٍnūḥinNuhوَكَفَىwakafāAnd sufficientبِرَبِّكَbirabbika(is) your Lordبِذُنُوبِbidhunūbiconcerning the sinsعِبَادِهِʿibādihi(of) His servantsخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-AwareبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
  18. 18مَنْmanWhoeverكَانَkānashouldيُرِيدُyurīdudesireالْعَاجِلَةَl-ʿājilatathe immediateعَجَّلْنَاʿajjalnāWe hastenلَهُlahufor himفِيهَاfīhāin itمَاwhatنَشَاءُnashāuWe willلِمَنْlimanto whomنُرِيدُnurīduWe intendثُمَّthummaThenجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have madeلَهُlahufor himجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellيَصْلَاهَاyaṣlāhāhe will burnمَذْمُومًاmadhmūmandisgracedمَدْحُورًاmadḥūranrejected
  19. 19وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverأَرَادَarādadesiresالْءَاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe Hereafterوَسَعَىwasaʿāand exertsلَهَاlahāfor itسَعْيَهَاsaʿyahāthe effortوَهُوَwahuwawhile heمُؤْمِنٌmu'minun(is) a believerفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseكَانَkāna[are]سَعْيُهُمْsaʿyuhumtheir effortمَشْكُورًاmashkūran(is) appreciated
  20. 20كُلًّاkullan(To) eachنُمِدُّnumidduWe extendهَؤُلَاءِhāulāi(to) theseوَهَؤُلَاءِwahāulāiand (to) theseمِنْminfromعَطَاءِʿaṭāi(the) giftرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your LordوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisعَطَاءُʿaṭāu(the) giftرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordمَحْظُورًاmaḥẓūranrestricted
  21. 21انْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowفَضَّلْنَاfaḍḍalnāWe preferredبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themعَلَىʿalāoverبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersوَلَلْءَاخِرَةُwalalākhiratuAnd surely the Hereafterأَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greaterدَرَجَاتٍdarajātin(in) degreesوَأَكْبَرُwa-akbaruand greaterتَفْضِيلًاtafḍīlan(in) excellence
  22. 22لَا(Do) notتَجْعَلْtajʿalmakeمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَهًاilāhangodءَاخَرَākharaanotherفَتَقْعُدَfataqʿudalest you will sitمَذْمُومًاmadhmūmandisgracedمَخْذُولًاmakhdhūlanforsaken
  23. 23وَقَضَىwaqaḍāAnd has decreedرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordأَلَّاallāthat (do) notتَعْبُدُواtaʿbudūworshipإِلَّاillāexceptإِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim Aloneوَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِwabil-wālidayniand to the parentsإِحْسَانًاiḥ'sānan(be) goodإِمَّاimmāWhetherيَبْلُغَنَّyablughannareachعِنْدَكَʿindakawith youالْكِبَرَl-kibarathe old ageأَحَدُهُمَاaḥaduhumāone of themأَوْaworكِلَاهُمَاkilāhumāboth of themفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَقُلْtaqulsayلَهُمَاlahumāto both of themأُفٍّuffina word of disrespectوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَنْهَرْهُمَاtanharhumārepel themوَقُلْwaqulbut speakلَهُمَاlahumāto themقَوْلًاqawlana wordكَرِيمًاkarīmannoble
  24. 24وَاخْفِضْwa-ikh'fiḍAnd lowerلَهُمَاlahumāto themجَنَاحَjanāḥa(the) wingالذُّلِّl-dhuli(of) humilityمِنَmina(out) ofالرَّحْمَةِl-raḥmati[the] mercyوَقُلْwaquland sayرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!ارْحَمْهُمَاir'ḥamhumāHave mercy on both of themكَمَاkamāasرَبَّيَانِيrabbayānīthey brought me upصَغِيرًاṣaghīran(when I was) small
  25. 25رَبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَاbimāof whatفِي(is) inنُفُوسِكُمْnufūsikumyourselvesإِنْinIfتَكُونُواtakūnūyou areصَالِحِينَṣāliḥīnarighteousفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed Heكَانَkānaisلِلْأَوَّابِينَlil'awwābīnato those who often turn (to Him)غَفُورًاghafūranMost Forgiving
  26. 26وَءَاتِwaātiAnd giveذَاdhāthe relativesالْقُرْبَىl-qur'bāthe relativesحَقَّهُḥaqqahuhis rightوَالْمِسْكِينَwal-mis'kīnaand the needyوَابْنَwa-ib'naand the wayfarerالسَّبِيلِl-sabīliand the wayfarerوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُبَذِّرْtubadhirspendتَبْذِيرًاtabdhīranwastefully
  27. 27إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُبَذِّرِينَl-mubadhirīnathe spendthriftsكَانُواkānūareإِخْوَانَikh'wānabrothersالشَّيَاطِينِl-shayāṭīni(of) the devilsوَكَانَwakānaAnd isالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanلِرَبِّهِlirabbihito his Lordكَفُورًاkafūranungrateful
  28. 28وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd ifتُعْرِضَنَّtuʿ'riḍannayou turn awayعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themابْتِغَاءَib'tighāaseekingرَحْمَةٍraḥmatinmercyمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordتَرْجُوهَاtarjūhāwhich you expectفَقُلْfaqulthen sayلَهُمْlahumto themقَوْلًاqawlana wordمَيْسُورًاmaysūrangentle
  29. 29وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَجْعَلْtajʿalmakeيَدَكَyadakayour handمَغْلُولَةًmaghlūlatanchainedإِلَىilātoعُنُقِكَʿunuqikayour neckوَلَاwalāand notتَبْسُطْهَاtabsuṭ'hāextend itكُلَّkulla(to its) utmostالْبَسْطِl-basṭireachفَتَقْعُدَfataqʿudaso that you sitمَلُومًاmalūmanblameworthyمَحْسُورًاmaḥsūraninsolvent
  30. 30إِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordيَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextendsالرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionلِمَنْlimanfor whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَقْدِرُwayaqdiruand straitensإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heكَانَkānaisبِعِبَادِهِbiʿibādihiof His slavesخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-AwareبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
  31. 31وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillأَوْلَادَكُمْawlādakumyour childrenخَشْيَةَkhashyata(for) fearإِمْلَاقٍim'lāqin(of) povertyنَحْنُnaḥnuWeنَرْزُقُهُمْnarzuquhum(We) provide for themوَإِيَّاكُمْwa-iyyākumand for youإِنَّinnaIndeedقَتْلَهُمْqatlahumtheir killingكَانَkānaisخِطْءًاkhiṭ'ana sinكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  32. 32وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْرَبُواtaqrabūgo nearالزِّنَىl-zināadulteryإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itكَانَkānaisفَاحِشَةًfāḥishatanan immoralityوَسَاءَwasāaand (an) evilسَبِيلًاsabīlanway
  33. 33وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillالنَّفْسَl-nafsathe soulالَّتِيallatīwhichحَرَّمَḥarramaAllah has forbiddenاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has forbiddenإِلَّاillāexceptبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiby rightوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverقُتِلَqutila(is) killedمَظْلُومًاmaẓlūmanwrongfullyفَقَدْfaqadverilyجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have madeلِوَلِيِّهِliwaliyyihifor his heirسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanan authorityفَلَاfalābut notيُسْرِفْyus'rifhe should exceedفِيinالْقَتْلِl-qatlithe killingإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, heكَانَkānaisمَنْصُورًاmanṣūranhelped
  34. 34وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْرَبُواtaqrabūcome nearمَالَmāla(the) wealthالْيَتِيمِl-yatīmi(of) the orphanإِلَّاillāexceptبِالَّتِيbi-allatīwith whatهِيَhiya[it] isأَحْسَنُaḥsanubestحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَبْلُغَyablughahe reachesأَشُدَّهُashuddahuhis maturityوَأَوْفُواwa-awfūAnd fulfilبِالْعَهْدِbil-ʿahdithe covenantإِنَّinnaIndeedالْعَهْدَl-ʿahdathe covenantكَانَkānawill beمَسْءُولًاmasūlanquestioned
  35. 35وَأَوْفُواwa-awfūAnd give fullالْكَيْلَl-kayla[the] measureإِذَاidhāwhenكِلْتُمْkil'tumyou measureوَزِنُواwazinūand weighبِالْقِسْطَاسِbil-qis'ṭāsiwith the balanceالْمُسْتَقِيمِl-mus'taqīmithe straightذَلِكَdhālikaThatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) goodوَأَحْسَنُwa-aḥsanuand bestتَأْوِيلًاtawīlan(in) result
  36. 36وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْفُtaqfupursueمَاwhatلَيْسَlaysanotلَكَlakayou haveبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munany knowledgeإِنَّinnaIndeedالسَّمْعَl-samʿathe hearingوَالْبَصَرَwal-baṣaraand the sightوَالْفُؤَادَwal-fuādaand the heartكُلُّkulluallأُولَئِكَulāikathoseكَانَkānawill beعَنْهُʿanhu[about it]مَسْءُولًاmasūlanquestioned
  37. 37وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَمْشِtamshiwalkفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمَرَحًاmaraḥan(with) insolenceإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youلَنْlanwill neverتَخْرِقَtakhriqatearالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthوَلَنْwalanand will neverتَبْلُغَtablughareachالْجِبَالَl-jibālathe mountainsطُولًاṭūlan(in) height
  38. 38كُلُّkulluAllذَلِكَdhālikathatكَانَkānaisسَيِّئُهُsayyi-uhu[its] evilعِنْدَʿindanearرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordمَكْرُوهًاmakrūhanhateful
  39. 39ذَلِكَdhālikaThatمِمَّاmimmā(is) from whatأَوْحَىawḥā(was) revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youرَبُّكَrabbuka(from) your Lordمِنَminaofالْحِكْمَةِl-ḥik'matithe wisdomوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَجْعَلْtajʿalmakeمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَهًاilāhangodءَاخَرَākharaotherفَتُلْقَىfatul'qālest you should be thrownفِيinجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellمَلُومًاmalūmanblameworthyمَدْحُورًاmadḥūranabandoned
  40. 40أَفَأَصْفَاكُمْafa-aṣfākumThen has your Lord chosen (for) youرَبُّكُمْrabbukumThen has your Lord chosen (for) youبِالْبَنِينَbil-banīnasonsوَاتَّخَذَwa-ittakhadhaand He has takenمِنَminafromالْمَلَائِكَةِl-malāikatithe AngelsإِنَاثًاināthandaughtersإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youلَتَقُولُونَlataqūlūnasurely sayقَوْلًاqawlana wordعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangrave
  41. 41وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyصَرَّفْنَاṣarrafnāWe have explainedفِيinهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'ānithe Quranلِيَذَّكَّرُواliyadhakkarūthat they may take heedوَمَاwamābut notيَزِيدُهُمْyazīduhumit increases themإِلَّاillāexceptنُفُورًاnufūran(in) aversion
  42. 42قُلْqulSayلَوْlawIfكَانَkāna(there) wereمَعَهُmaʿahuwith Himءَالِهَةٌālihatungodsكَمَاkamāasيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayإِذًاidhanthenلَابْتَغَوْاla-ib'taghawsurely they (would) have soughtإِلَىilātoذِيdhī(the) Ownerالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshi(of) the Throneسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
  43. 43سُبْحَانَهُsub'ḥānahuGlorified is Heوَتَعَالَىwataʿālāand Exalted is Heعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayعُلُوًّاʿuluwwan(by) heightكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  44. 44تُسَبِّحُtusabbiḥuGlorifyلَهُlahu[to] Himالسَّمَاوَاتُl-samāwātuthe seven heavensالسَّبْعُl-sabʿuthe seven heavensوَالْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earthوَمَنْwamanand whateverفِيهِنَّfīhinna(is) in themوَإِنْwa-inAnd (there is) notمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingإِلَّاillāexceptيُسَبِّحُyusabbiḥuglorifiesبِحَمْدِهِbiḥamdihiHis Praiseوَلَكِنْwalākinbutلَاnotتَفْقَهُونَtafqahūnayou understandتَسْبِيحَهُمْtasbīḥahumtheir glorificationإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, HeكَانَkānaisحَلِيمًاḥalīmanEver-ForbearingغَفُورًاghafūranOft-Forgiving
  45. 45وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقَرَأْتَqaratayou reciteالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe QuranجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe placeبَيْنَكَbaynakabetween youوَبَيْنَwabaynaand betweenالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterحِجَابًاḥijābana barrierمَسْتُورًاmastūranhidden
  46. 46وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāAnd We have placedعَلَىʿalāoverقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsأَكِنَّةًakinnatancoveringsأَنْanlestيَفْقَهُوهُyafqahūhuthey understand itوَفِيwafīand inءَاذَانِهِمْādhānihimtheir earsوَقْرًاwaqrandeafnessوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenذَكَرْتَdhakartayou mentionرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordفِيinالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'ānithe QuranوَحْدَهُwaḥdahuAloneوَلَّوْاwallawthey turnعَلَىʿalāonأَدْبَارِهِمْadbārihimtheir backsنُفُورًاnufūran(in) aversion
  47. 47نَحْنُnaḥnuWeأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknow bestبِمَاbimā[of] whatيَسْتَمِعُونَyastamiʿūnathey listenبِهِbihito [it]إِذْidhwhenيَسْتَمِعُونَyastamiʿūnathey listenإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَإِذْwa-idhand whenهُمْhumtheyنَجْوَىnajwā(are) in private conversationإِذْidhwhenيَقُولُyaqūlusayالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoersإِنْinNotتَتَّبِعُونَtattabiʿūnayou followإِلَّاillābutرَجُلًاrajulana manمَسْحُورًاmasḥūranbewitched
  48. 48انْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowضَرَبُواḍarabūthey put forthلَكَlakafor youالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe examplesفَضَلُّواfaḍallūbut they have gone astrayفَلَاfalāso notيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey canسَبِيلًاsabīlan(find) a way
  49. 49وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayأَءِذَاa-idhāIs it whenكُنَّاkunnāwe areعِظَامًاʿiẓāmanbonesوَرُفَاتًاwarufātanand crumbled particlesأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnasurely (be) resurrectedخَلْقًاkhalqan(as) a creationجَدِيدًاjadīdannew
  50. 50قُلْqulSayكُونُواkūnūBeحِجَارَةًḥijāratanstonesأَوْaworحَدِيدًاḥadīdaniron
  51. 51أَوْawOrخَلْقًاkhalqana creationمِمَّاmimmāof whatيَكْبُرُyakburu(is) greatفِيinصُدُورِكُمْṣudūrikumyour breastsفَسَيَقُولُونَfasayaqūlūnaThen they will sayمَنْmanWhoيُعِيدُنَاyuʿīdunāwill restore usقُلِquliSayالَّذِيalladhīHe Whoفَطَرَكُمْfaṭarakumcreated youأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstمَرَّةٍmarratintimeفَسَيُنْغِضُونَfasayun'ghiḍūnaThen they will shakeإِلَيْكَilaykaat youرُءُوسَهُمْruūsahumtheir headsوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayمَتَىmatāWhen (will)هُوَhuwait (be)قُلْqulSayعَسَىʿasāPerhapsأَنْanthatيَكُونَyakūna(it) will beقَرِيبًاqarībansoon
  52. 52يَوْمَyawma(On) the DayيَدْعُوكُمْyadʿūkumHe will call youفَتَسْتَجِيبُونَfatastajībūnaand you will respondبِحَمْدِهِbiḥamdihiwith His Praiseوَتَظُنُّونَwataẓunnūnaand you will thinkإِنْinnotلَبِثْتُمْlabith'tumyou had remainedإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana little (while)
  53. 53وَقُلْwaqulAnd sayلِعِبَادِيliʿibādīto My slavesيَقُولُواyaqūlū(to) sayالَّتِيallatīthatهِيَhiyawhichأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) bestإِنَّinnaIndeedالشَّيْطَانَl-shayṭānathe Shaitaanيَنْزَغُyanzaghusows discordبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themإِنَّinnaIndeedالشَّيْطَانَl-shayṭānathe Shaitaanكَانَkānaisلِلْإِنْسَانِlil'insānito the manعَدُوًّاʿaduwwanan enemyمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
  54. 54رَبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِكُمْbikumof youإِنْinIfيَشَأْyashaHe willsيَرْحَمْكُمْyarḥamkumHe will have mercy on youأَوْaworإِنْinifيَشَأْyashaHe willsيُعَذِّبْكُمْyuʿadhib'kumHe will punish youوَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاكَarsalnākaWe have sent youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a guardian
  55. 55وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَنْbimanof whoeverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyفَضَّلْنَاfaḍḍalnāWe have preferredبَعْضَbaʿḍasomeالنَّبِيِّينَl-nabiyīna(of) the ProphetsعَلَىʿalātoبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersوَءَاتَيْنَاwaātaynāAnd We gaveدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodزَبُورًاzabūranZaboor
  56. 56قُلِquliSayادْعُواid'ʿūCallالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomزَعَمْتُمْzaʿamtumyou claimedمِنْminbesides Himدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himفَلَاfalā[then] notيَمْلِكُونَyamlikūnathey have powerكَشْفَkashfa(to) removeالضُّرِّl-ḍurithe misfortunesعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youوَلَاwalāand notتَحْوِيلًاtaḥwīlan(to) transfer (it)
  57. 57أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīnawhomيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey callيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekإِلَىilātoرَبِّهِمُrabbihimutheir Lordالْوَسِيلَةَl-wasīlatathe means of accessأَيُّهُمْayyuhumwhich of themأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearestوَيَرْجُونَwayarjūnaand they hopeرَحْمَتَهُraḥmatahu(for) His mercyوَيَخَافُونَwayakhāfūnaand fearعَذَابَهُʿadhābahuHis punishmentإِنَّinnaIndeedعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordكَانَkānaisمَحْذُورًاmaḥdhūran(ever) feared
  58. 58وَإِنْwa-inAnd notمِنْmin(is) anyقَرْيَةٍqaryatintownإِلَّاillābutنَحْنُnaḥnuWeمُهْلِكُوهَاmuh'likūhā(will) destroy itقَبْلَqablabeforeيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionأَوْaworمُعَذِّبُوهَاmuʿadhibūhāpunish itعَذَابًاʿadhābanwith a punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereكَانَkānaThat isذَلِكَdhālikaThat isفِيinالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookمَسْطُورًاmasṭūranwritten
  59. 59وَمَاwamāAnd notمَنَعَنَاmanaʿanāstopped Usأَنْanthatنُرْسِلَnur'silaWe sendبِالْءَايَاتِbil-āyātithe Signsإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedبِهَاbihāthemالْأَوَّلُونَl-awalūnathe former (people)وَءَاتَيْنَاwaātaynāAnd We gaveثَمُودَthamūdaThamudالنَّاقَةَl-nāqatathe she-camelمُبْصِرَةًmub'ṣiratan(as) a visible signفَظَلَمُواfaẓalamūbut they wrongedبِهَاbihāherوَمَاwamāAnd notنُرْسِلُnur'siluWe sendبِالْءَايَاتِbil-āyātithe Signsإِلَّاillāexceptتَخْوِيفًاtakhwīfan(as) a warning
  60. 60وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلَكَlakato youإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordأَحَاطَaḥāṭahas encompassedبِالنَّاسِbil-nāsithe mankindوَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeالرُّءْيَاl-ru'yāthe visionالَّتِيallatīwhichأَرَيْنَاكَaraynākaWe showed youإِلَّاillāexceptفِتْنَةًfit'natan(as) a trialلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankindوَالشَّجَرَةَwal-shajarataand the treeالْمَلْعُونَةَl-malʿūnatathe accursedفِيinالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'ānithe QuranوَنُخَوِّفُهُمْwanukhawwifuhumAnd We threaten themفَمَاfamābut notيَزِيدُهُمْyazīduhumit increases themإِلَّاillāexceptطُغْيَانًاṭugh'yānan(in) transgressionكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  61. 61وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلِلْمَلَائِكَةِlil'malāikatito the Angelsاسْجُدُواus'judūProstrateلِءَادَمَliādamato AdamفَسَجَدُواfasajadūSo they prostratedإِلَّاillāexceptإِبْلِيسَib'līsaIblisقَالَqālaHe saidءَأَسْجُدُa-asjuduShall I prostrateلِمَنْlimanto (one) whomخَلَقْتَkhalaqtaYou createdطِينًاṭīnan(from) clay
  62. 62قَالَqālaHe saidأَرَءَيْتَكَara-aytakaDo You seeهَذَاhādhāthisالَّذِيalladhīwhomكَرَّمْتَkarramtaYou have honoredعَلَيَّʿalayyaabove meلَئِنْla-inIfأَخَّرْتَنِakhartaniYou give me respiteإِلَىilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionلَأَحْتَنِكَنَّla-aḥtanikannaI will surely destroyذُرِّيَّتَهُdhurriyyatahuhis offspringإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana few
  63. 63قَالَqālaHe saidاذْهَبْidh'habGoفَمَنْfamanand whoeverتَبِعَكَtabiʿakafollows youمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellجَزَاؤُكُمْjazāukum(is) your recompenseجَزَاءًjazāana recompenseمَوْفُورًاmawfūranample
  64. 64وَاسْتَفْزِزْwa-is'tafzizAnd inciteمَنِmaniwhoeverاسْتَطَعْتَis'taṭaʿtayou canمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themبِصَوْتِكَbiṣawtikawith your voiceوَأَجْلِبْwa-ajliband assaultعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim[on] themبِخَيْلِكَbikhaylikawith your cavalryوَرَجِلِكَwarajilikaand infantryوَشَارِكْهُمْwashārik'humand be a partnerفِيinالْأَمْوَالِl-amwālithe wealthوَالْأَوْلَادِwal-awlādiand the childrenوَعِدْهُمْwaʿid'humand promise themوَمَاwamāAnd notيَعِدُهُمُyaʿiduhumupromises themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanإِلَّاillāexceptغُرُورًاghurūrandelusion
  65. 65إِنَّinnaIndeedعِبَادِيʿibādīMy slavesلَيْسَlaysanotلَكَlakafor youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themسُلْطَانٌsul'ṭānunany authorityوَكَفَىwakafāAnd sufficientبِرَبِّكَbirabbika(is) your Lordوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a Guardian
  66. 66رَبُّكُمُrabbukumuYour Lordالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoيُزْجِيyuz'jīdrivesلَكُمُlakumufor youالْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe shipفِيinالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaلِتَبْتَغُواlitabtaghūthat you may seekمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis BountyإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heكَانَkānaisبِكُمْbikumto youرَحِيمًاraḥīmanEver Merciful
  67. 67وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenمَسَّكُمُmassakumutouches youالضُّرُّl-ḍuruthe hardshipفِيinالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaضَلَّḍallalostمَنْman(are) whoتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callإِلَّاillāexceptإِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim AloneفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenنَجَّاكُمْnajjākumHe delivers youإِلَىilātoالْبَرِّl-barithe landأَعْرَضْتُمْaʿraḍtumyou turn awayوَكَانَwakānaAnd isالْإِنْسَانُl-insānumanكَفُورًاkafūranungrateful
  68. 68أَفَأَمِنْتُمْafa-amintumDo you then feel secureأَنْanthat (not)يَخْسِفَyakhsifaHe will cause to swallowبِكُمْbikumyouجَانِبَjānibasideالْبَرِّl-bari(of) the landأَوْaworيُرْسِلَyur'silasendعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumagainst youحَاصِبًاḥāṣibana storm of stonesثُمَّthummaThenلَاnotتَجِدُواtajidūyou will findلَكُمْlakumfor youوَكِيلًاwakīlana guardian
  69. 69أَمْamOrأَمِنْتُمْamintumdo you feel secureأَنْanthat (not)يُعِيدَكُمْyuʿīdakumHe will send you backفِيهِfīhiinto itتَارَةًtāratananother timeأُخْرَىukh'rāanother timeفَيُرْسِلَfayur'silaand sendعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youقَاصِفًاqāṣifana hurricaneمِنَminaofالرِّيحِl-rīḥithe windفَيُغْرِقَكُمْfayugh'riqakumand drown youبِمَاbimābecauseكَفَرْتُمْkafartumyou disbelievedثُمَّthummaThenلَاnotتَجِدُواtajidūyou will findلَكُمْlakumfor youعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst Usبِهِbihithereinتَبِيعًاtabīʿanan avenger
  70. 70وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyكَرَّمْنَاkarramnāWe have honoredبَنِيbanī(the) children of Adamءَادَمَādama(the) children of Adamوَحَمَلْنَاهُمْwaḥamalnāhumand We carried themفِيonالْبَرِّl-barithe landوَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand the seaوَرَزَقْنَاهُمْwarazaqnāhumand We have provided themمِنَminaofالطَّيِّبَاتِl-ṭayibātithe good thingsوَفَضَّلْنَاهُمْwafaḍḍalnāhumand We preferred themعَلَىʿalāoverكَثِيرٍkathīrinmanyمِمَّنْmimmanof those whomخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe have createdتَفْضِيلًاtafḍīlan(with) preference
  71. 71يَوْمَyawma(The) DayنَدْعُواnadʿūWe will callكُلَّkullaallأُنَاسٍunāsinhuman beingsبِإِمَامِهِمْbi-imāmihimwith their recordفَمَنْfamanthen whoeverأُوتِيَūtiyais givenكِتَابَهُkitābahuhis recordبِيَمِينِهِbiyamīnihiin his right handفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseيَقْرَءُونَyaqraūnawill readكِتَابَهُمْkitābahumtheir recordsوَلَاwalāand notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnathey will be wrongedفَتِيلًاfatīlan(even as much as) a hair on a date seed
  72. 72وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverكَانَkānaisفِيinهَذِهِhādhihithis (world)أَعْمَىaʿmāblindفَهُوَfahuwathen heفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterأَعْمَىaʿmā(will be) blindوَأَضَلُّwa-aḍalluand more astrayسَبِيلًاsabīlan(from the) path
  73. 73وَإِنْwa-inAnd indeedكَادُواkādūthey were about (to)لَيَفْتِنُونَكَlayaftinūnakatempt you awayعَنِʿanifromالَّذِيalladhīthat whichأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youلِتَفْتَرِيَlitaftariyathat you inventعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāabout Usغَيْرَهُghayrahuother (than) itوَإِذًاwa-idhanAnd thenلَاتَّخَذُوكَla-ittakhadhūkasurely they would take youخَلِيلًاkhalīlan(as) a friend
  74. 74وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notأَنْan[that]ثَبَّتْنَاكَthabbatnākaWe (had) strengthened youلَقَدْlaqadcertainlyكِدْتَkidttayou almostتَرْكَنُtarkanu(would) have inclinedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themشَيْئًاshayan(in) somethingقَلِيلًاqalīlana little
  75. 75إِذًاidhanThenلَأَذَقْنَاكَla-adhaqnākaWe (would) have made you tasteضِعْفَḍiʿ'fadoubleالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati(in) the lifeوَضِعْفَwaḍiʿ'faand doubleالْمَمَاتِl-mamāti(after) the deathثُمَّthummaThenلَاnotتَجِدُtajiduyou (would) have foundلَكَlakafor youعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst Usنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
  76. 76وَإِنْwa-inAnd indeedكَادُواkādūthey were aboutلَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَlayastafizzūnaka(to) scare youمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landلِيُخْرِجُوكَliyukh'rijūkathat they evict youمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itوَإِذًاwa-idhanBut thenلَاnotيَلْبَثُونَyalbathūnathey (would) have stayedخِلَافَكَkhilāfakaafter youإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana little
  77. 77سُنَّةَsunnata(Such is Our) Wayمَنْman(for) whomقَدْqad[verily]أَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentقَبْلَكَqablakabefore youمِنْminofرُسُلِنَاrusulināOur MessengersوَلَاwalāAnd notتَجِدُtajiduyou will findلِسُنَّتِنَاlisunnatinā(in) Our wayتَحْوِيلًاtaḥwīlanany alteration
  78. 78أَقِمِaqimiEstablishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerلِدُلُوكِlidulūkiat the declineالشَّمْسِl-shamsi(of) the sunإِلَىilātillغَسَقِghasaqi(the) darknessاللَّيْلِal-layli(of) the nightوَقُرْءَانَwaqur'ānaand Quranالْفَجْرِl-fajriat dawnإِنَّinnaindeedقُرْءَانَqur'ānathe Quranالْفَجْرِl-fajri(at) the dawnكَانَkānaisمَشْهُودًاmashhūdanever witnessed
  79. 79وَمِنَwaminaAnd fromاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightفَتَهَجَّدْfatahajjadarise from sleep for prayerبِهِbihiwith itنَافِلَةًnāfilatan(as) additionalلَكَlakafor youعَسَىʿasāit may beأَنْanthatيَبْعَثَكَyabʿathakawill raise youرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordمَقَامًاmaqāman(to) a stationمَحْمُودًاmaḥmūdanpraiseworthy
  80. 80وَقُلْwaqulAnd sayرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!أَدْخِلْنِيadkhil'nīCause me to enterمُدْخَلَmud'khalaan entranceصِدْقٍṣid'qinsoundوَأَخْرِجْنِيwa-akhrij'nīand cause me to exitمُخْرَجَmukh'rajaan exitصِدْقٍṣid'qinsoundوَاجْعَلْwa-ij'ʿaland makeلِيfor meمِنْminfromلَدُنْكَladunkanear Youسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanan authorityنَصِيرًاnaṣīranhelping
  81. 81وَقُلْwaqulAnd sayجَاءَjāaHas comeالْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthوَزَهَقَwazahaqaand perishedالْبَاطِلُl-bāṭiluthe falsehoodإِنَّinnaIndeedالْبَاطِلَl-bāṭilathe falsehoodكَانَkānaisزَهُوقًاzahūqan(bound) to perish
  82. 82وَنُنَزِّلُwanunazziluAnd We revealمِنَminafromالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'ānithe Quranمَاthatهُوَhuwaitشِفَاءٌshifāon(is) a healingوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand a mercyلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believersوَلَاwalābut notيَزِيدُyazīduit increasesالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersإِلَّاillāexceptخَسَارًاkhasāran(in) loss
  83. 83وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenأَنْعَمْنَاanʿamnāWe bestow favorعَلَىʿalāonالْإِنْسَانِl-insānimanأَعْرَضَaʿraḍahe turns awayوَنَءَاwanaāand becomes remoteبِجَانِبِهِbijānibihion his sideوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenمَسَّهُmassahutouches himالشَّرُّl-sharuthe evilكَانَkānahe isيَئُوسًاyaūsan(in) despair
  84. 84قُلْqulSayكُلٌّkullunEachيَعْمَلُyaʿmaluworksعَلَىʿalāonشَاكِلَتِهِshākilatihihis mannerفَرَبُّكُمْfarabbukumbut your Lordأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَنْbimanof whoهُوَhuwa[he]أَهْدَىahdā(is) best guidedسَبِيلًاsabīlan(in) way
  85. 85وَيَسْءَلُونَكَwayasalūnakaAnd they ask youعَنِʿaniconcerningالرُّوحِl-rūḥithe soulقُلِquliSayالرُّوحُl-rūḥuThe soulمِنْmin(is) ofأَمْرِamri(the) affairرَبِّيrabbī(of) my LordوَمَاwamāAnd notأُوتِيتُمْūtītumyou have been givenمِنَminaofالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mithe knowledgeإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana little
  86. 86وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifشِئْنَاshi'nāWe willedلَنَذْهَبَنَّlanadhhabannaWe (would) have surely taken awayبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīthat whichأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe have revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youثُمَّthummaThenلَاnotتَجِدُtajiduyou would findلَكَlakafor youبِهِbihiconcerning itعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst Usوَكِيلًاwakīlanany advocate
  87. 87إِلَّاillāExceptرَحْمَةًraḥmatana mercyمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordإِنَّinnaIndeedفَضْلَهُfaḍlahuHis Bountyكَانَkānaisعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
  88. 88قُلْqulSayلَئِنِla-iniIfاجْتَمَعَتِij'tamaʿatigatheredالْإِنْسُl-insuthe mankindوَالْجِنُّwal-jinuand the jinnعَلَىʿalātoأَنْan[that]يَأْتُواyatūbringبِمِثْلِbimith'lithe likeهَذَاhādhā(of) thisالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'āniQuranلَاnotيَأْتُونَyatūnathey (could) bringبِمِثْلِهِbimith'lihithe like of itوَلَوْwalaweven ifكَانَkānawereبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themلِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto some othersظَهِيرًاẓahīranassistants
  89. 89وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyصَرَّفْنَاṣarrafnāWe have explainedلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito mankindفِيinهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانِl-qur'āniQuranمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryمَثَلٍmathalinexampleفَأَبَىfa-abābut refusedأَكْثَرُaktharumostالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the mankindإِلَّاillāexceptكُفُورًاkufūrandisbelief
  90. 90وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayلَنْlanNeverنُؤْمِنَnu'minawe will believeلَكَlakain youحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَفْجُرَtafjurayou cause to gush forthلَنَاlanāfor usمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthيَنْبُوعًاyanbūʿana spring
  91. 91أَوْawOrتَكُونَtakūnayou haveلَكَlakafor youجَنَّةٌjannatuna gardenمِنْminofنَخِيلٍnakhīlindate-palmsوَعِنَبٍwaʿinabinand grapesفَتُفَجِّرَfatufajjiraand cause to gush forthالْأَنْهَارَl-anhārathe riversخِلَالَهَاkhilālahāwithin themتَفْجِيرًاtafjīranabundantly
  92. 92أَوْawOrتُسْقِطَtus'qiṭayou cause to fallالسَّمَاءَl-samāathe skyكَمَاkamāasزَعَمْتَzaʿamtayou have claimedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usكِسَفًاkisafan(in) piecesأَوْaworتَأْتِيَtatiyayou bringبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahوَالْمَلَائِكَةِwal-malāikatiand the Angelsقَبِيلًاqabīlanbefore (us)
  93. 93أَوْawOrيَكُونَyakūnaisلَكَlakafor youبَيْتٌbaytuna houseمِنْminofزُخْرُفٍzukh'rufinornamentأَوْaworتَرْقَىtarqāyou ascendفِيintoالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyوَلَنْwalanAnd neverنُؤْمِنَnu'minawe will believeلِرُقِيِّكَliruqiyyikain your ascensionحَتَّىḥattāuntilتُنَزِّلَtunazzilayou bring downعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usكِتَابًاkitābana bookنَقْرَؤُهُnaqra-uhuwe could read itقُلْqulSayسُبْحَانَsub'ḥānaGlorified (is)رَبِّيrabbīmy Lord!هَلْhalWhatكُنْتُkuntuam Iإِلَّاillābutبَشَرًاbasharana humanرَسُولًاrasūlana Messenger
  94. 94وَمَاwamāAnd whatمَنَعَmanaʿapreventedالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleأَنْanthatيُؤْمِنُواyu'minūthey believeإِذْidhwhenجَاءَهُمُjāahumucame to themالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidأَبَعَثَabaʿathaHas Allah sentاللَّهُl-lahuHas Allah sentبَشَرًاbasharana humanرَسُولًاrasūlanMessenger
  95. 95قُلْqulSayلَوْlawIfكَانَkāna(there) wereفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمَلَائِكَةٌmalāikatunAngelsيَمْشُونَyamshūnawalkingمُطْمَئِنِّينَmuṭ'ma-innīnasecurelyلَنَزَّلْنَاlanazzalnāsurely We (would) have sent downعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenمَلَكًاmalakanan Angelرَسُولًاrasūlan(as) a Messenger
  96. 96قُلْqulSayكَفَىkafāSufficient isبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a witnessبَيْنِيbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heكَانَkānaisبِعِبَادِهِbiʿibādihiof His slavesخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-AwareبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seer
  97. 97وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَهْدِyahdiAllah guidesاللَّهُl-lahuAllah guidesفَهُوَfahuwathen he (is)الْمُهْتَدِl-muh'tadithe guided oneوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُضْلِلْyuḍ'lilHe lets go astrayفَلَنْfalanthen neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلَهُمْlahumfor themأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaprotectorsمِنْminbesides Himدُونِهِdūnihibesides HimوَنَحْشُرُهُمْwanaḥshuruhumAnd We will gather themيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionعَلَىʿalāonوُجُوهِهِمْwujūhihimtheir facesعُمْيًاʿum'yanblindوَبُكْمًاwabuk'manand dumbوَصُمًّاwaṣummanand deafمَأْوَاهُمْmawāhumTheir abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hellكُلَّمَاkullamāevery timeخَبَتْkhabatit subsidesزِدْنَاهُمْzid'nāhumWe (will) increase (for) themسَعِيرًاsaʿīranthe blazing fire
  98. 98ذَلِكَdhālikaThatجَزَاؤُهُمْjazāuhum(is) their recompenseبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahumbecause theyكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Versesوَقَالُواwaqālūand saidأَءِذَاa-idhāWhenكُنَّاkunnāwe areعِظَامًاʿiẓāmanbonesوَرُفَاتًاwarufātanand crumbled particlesأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَمَبْعُوثُونَlamabʿūthūnasurely (be) resurrectedخَلْقًاkhalqan(as) a creationجَدِيدًاjadīdannew
  99. 99أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthقَادِرٌqādirun(is) Ableعَلَىʿalā[on]أَنْantoيَخْلُقَyakhluqacreateمِثْلَهُمْmith'lahumthe like of themوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaAnd He has madeلَهُمْlahumfor themأَجَلًاajalana termلَاnoرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهِfīhiin itفَأَبَىfa-abāBut refusedالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoersإِلَّاillāexceptكُفُورًاkufūrandisbelief
  100. 100قُلْqulSayلَوْlawIfأَنْتُمْantumyouتَمْلِكُونَtamlikūnapossessخَزَائِنَkhazāinathe treasuresرَحْمَةِraḥmati(of) the Mercyرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordإِذًاidhanthenلَأَمْسَكْتُمْla-amsaktumsurely you would withholdخَشْيَةَkhashyata(out of) fearالْإِنْفَاقِl-infāqi(of) spendingوَكَانَwakānaAnd isالْإِنْسَانُl-insānumanقَتُورًاqatūranstingy
  101. 101وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe had givenمُوسَىmūsāMusaتِسْعَtis'ʿanineءَايَاتٍāyātinSignsبَيِّنَاتٍbayyinātinclearفَسْءَلْfasalso askبَنِيbanī(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(the) Children of Israelإِذْidhwhenجَاءَهُمْjāahumhe came to themفَقَالَfaqālathen saidلَهُlahuto himفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iلَأَظُنُّكَla-aẓunnuka[I] think youيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musaمَسْحُورًاmasḥūran(you are) bewitched
  102. 102قَالَqālaHe saidلَقَدْlaqadVerilyعَلِمْتَʿalim'tayou knowمَاnoneأَنْزَلَanzalahas sent downهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseإِلَّاillāexceptرَبُّrabbu(the) Lordالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthبَصَائِرَbaṣāira(as) evidenceوَإِنِّيwa-innīand indeed Iلَأَظُنُّكَla-aẓunnuka[I] surely think youيَافِرْعَوْنُyāfir'ʿawnuO Firaun!مَثْبُورًاmathbūran(you are) destroyed
  103. 103فَأَرَادَfa-arādaSo he intendedأَنْantoيَسْتَفِزَّهُمْyastafizzahumdrive them outمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landفَأَغْرَقْنَاهُfa-aghraqnāhubut We drowned himوَمَنْwamanand whoمَعَهُmaʿahu(were) with himجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall
  104. 104وَقُلْنَاwaqul'nāAnd We saidمِنْminafter himبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter himلِبَنِيlibanīto the Children of Israelإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīlato the Children of Israelاسْكُنُواus'kunūDwellالْأَرْضَl-arḍa(in) the landفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen whenجَاءَjāacomesوَعْدُwaʿdu(the) promiseالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterجِئْنَاji'nāWe will bringبِكُمْbikumyouلَفِيفًاlafīfan(as) a mixed crowd
  105. 105وَبِالْحَقِّwabil-ḥaqiAnd with the truthأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe sent it downوَبِالْحَقِّwabil-ḥaqiand with the truthنَزَلَnazalait descendedوَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاكَarsalnākaWe sent youإِلَّاillāexceptمُبَشِّرًاmubashiran(as) a bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرًاwanadhīranand a warner
  106. 106وَقُرْءَانًاwaqur'ānanAnd the QuranفَرَقْنَاهُfaraqnāhuWe have dividedلِتَقْرَأَهُlitaqra-ahuthat you might recite itعَلَىʿalātoالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleعَلَىʿalāatمُكْثٍmuk'thinintervalsوَنَزَّلْنَاهُwanazzalnāhuAnd We have revealed itتَنْزِيلًاtanzīlan(in) stages
  107. 107قُلْqulSayءَامِنُواāminūBelieveبِهِbihiin itأَوْaworلَا(do) notتُؤْمِنُواtu'minūbelieveإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeمِنْminbefore itقَبْلِهِqablihibefore itإِذَاidhāwhenيُتْلَىyut'lāit is recitedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themيَخِرُّونَyakhirrūnathey fallلِلْأَذْقَانِlil'adhqānion their facesسُجَّدًاsujjadan(in) prostration
  108. 108وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayسُبْحَانَsub'ḥānaGlory be toرَبِّنَاrabbināour Lord!إِنْinIndeedكَانَkānaisوَعْدُwaʿdu(the) promiseرَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lordلَمَفْعُولًاlamafʿūlansurely fulfilled
  109. 109وَيَخِرُّونَwayakhirrūnaAnd they fallلِلْأَذْقَانِlil'adhqānion their facesيَبْكُونَyabkūnaweepingوَيَزِيدُهُمْwayazīduhumand it increases themخُشُوعًاkhushūʿan(in) humility
  110. 110قُلِquliSayادْعُواid'ʿūInvokeاللَّهَl-lahaAllahأَوِawiorادْعُواid'ʿūinvokeالرَّحْمَنَl-raḥmānathe Most GraciousأَيًّاayyanBy whatever (name)مَاBy whatever (name)تَدْعُواtadʿūyou invokeفَلَهُfalahuto Him (belongs)الْأَسْمَاءُl-asmāuthe Most Beautiful Namesالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe Most Beautiful NamesوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَجْهَرْtajharbe loudبِصَلَاتِكَbiṣalātikain your prayersوَلَاwalāand notتُخَافِتْtukhāfitbe silentبِهَاbihāthereinوَابْتَغِwa-ib'taghibut seekبَيْنَbaynabetweenذَلِكَdhālikathatسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
  111. 111وَقُلِwaquliAnd sayالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll Praiseلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoلَمْlamhas not takenيَتَّخِذْyattakhidhhas not takenوَلَدًاwaladana sonوَلَمْwalamand notيَكُنْyakunisلَهُlahufor Himشَرِيكٌsharīkuna partnerفِيinالْمُلْكِl-mul'kithe dominionوَلَمْwalamand notيَكُنْyakunisلَهُlahufor Himوَلِيٌّwaliyyunany protectorمِنَminaout ofالذُّلِّl-dhuliweaknessوَكَبِّرْهُwakabbir'huAnd magnify Himتَكْبِيرًاtakbīran(with all) magnificence
