بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 16 — An-Nahl

  1. 1أَتَىatāWill comeأَمْرُamruthe commandاللَّهِl-lahiof Allahفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَسْتَعْجِلُوهُtastaʿjilūhu(be) impatient for itسُبْحَانَهُsub'ḥānahuGlorified is Heوَتَعَالَىwataʿālāand Exalted (is) Heعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate
  2. 2يُنَزِّلُyunazziluHe sends downالْمَلَائِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angelsبِالرُّوحِbil-rūḥiwith the inspirationمِنْminofأَمْرِهِamrihiHis CommandعَلَىʿalāuponمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesأَنْanthatأَنْذِرُواandhirūWarnأَنَّهُannahuthat [He]لَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptأَنَاanāMeفَاتَّقُونِfa-ittaqūniso fear Me
  3. 3خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthتَعَالَىtaʿālāExalted is Heعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate
  4. 4خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdالْإِنْسَانَl-insānathe human kindمِنْminfromنُطْفَةٍnuṭ'fatina minute quantity of semenفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen beholdهُوَhuwaheخَصِيمٌkhaṣīmun(is) an opponentمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  5. 5وَالْأَنْعَامَwal-anʿāmaAnd the cattleخَلَقَهَاkhalaqahāHe created themلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيهَاfīhāin themدِفْءٌdif'on(is) warmthوَمَنَافِعُwamanāfiʿuand benefitsوَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand from themتَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou eat
  6. 6وَلَكُمْwalakumAnd for youفِيهَاfīhāin themجَمَالٌjamālun(is) beautyحِينَḥīnawhenتُرِيحُونَturīḥūnayou bring them inوَحِينَwaḥīnaand whenتَسْرَحُونَtasraḥūnayou take them out
  7. 7وَتَحْمِلُwataḥmiluAnd they carryأَثْقَالَكُمْathqālakumyour loadsإِلَىilātoبَلَدٍbaladina landلَمْlamnotتَكُونُواtakūnūyou couldبَالِغِيهِbālighīhireach itإِلَّاillāexceptبِشِقِّbishiqqiwith great troubleالْأَنْفُسِl-anfusi(to) yourselvesإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lordلَرَءُوفٌlaraūfunsurely is Most KindرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  8. 8وَالْخَيْلَwal-khaylaAnd horsesوَالْبِغَالَwal-bighālaand mulesوَالْحَمِيرَwal-ḥamīraand donkeysلِتَرْكَبُوهَاlitarkabūhāfor you to ride themوَزِينَةًwazīnatanand (as) adornmentوَيَخْلُقُwayakhluquAnd He createsمَاmāwhatلَاlānotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  9. 9وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَصْدُqaṣdu(is) the directionالسَّبِيلِl-sabīli(of) the wayوَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand among themجَائِرٌjāirun(are) crookedوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāaHe willedلَهَدَاكُمْlahadākumsurely He would have guided youأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  10. 10هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْزَلَanzalasends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْهُmin'huof itشَرَابٌsharābun(is) drinkوَمِنْهُwamin'huand from itشَجَرٌshajarun(grows) vegetationفِيهِfīhiin whichتُسِيمُونَtusīmūnayou pasture your cattle
  11. 11يُنْبِتُyunbituHe causes to growلَكُمْlakumfor youبِهِbihiwith itالزَّرْعَl-zarʿathe cropsوَالزَّيْتُونَwal-zaytūnaand the olivesوَالنَّخِيلَwal-nakhīlaand the date-palmsوَالْأَعْنَابَwal-aʿnābaand the grapesوَمِنْwaminand ofكُلِّkullievery kindالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarāti(of) fruitsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatansurely (is) a signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho reflect
  12. 12وَسَخَّرَwasakharaAnd He has subjectedلَكُمُlakumufor youاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَالنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the dayوَالشَّمْسَwal-shamsaand the sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonوَالنُّجُومُwal-nujūmuand the starsمُسَخَّرَاتٌmusakharātun(are) subjectedبِأَمْرِهِbi-amrihiby His commandإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnawho use reason
  13. 13وَمَاwamāAnd whateverذَرَأَdhara-aHe multipliedلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمُخْتَلِفًاmukh'talifan(of) varyingأَلْوَانُهُalwānuhucolorsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatansurely (is) a signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَذَّكَّرُونَyadhakkarūnawho remember
  14. 14وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoسَخَّرَsakharasubjectedالْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe seaلِتَأْكُلُواlitakulūfor you to eatمِنْهُmin'hufrom itلَحْمًاlaḥmanmeatطَرِيًّاṭariyyanfreshوَتَسْتَخْرِجُواwatastakhrijūand that you bring forthمِنْهُmin'hufrom itحِلْيَةًḥil'yatanornamentsتَلْبَسُونَهَاtalbasūnahā(that) you wear themوَتَرَىwatarāAnd you seeالْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe shipsمَوَاخِرَmawākhiraploughingفِيهِfīhithrough itوَلِتَبْتَغُواwalitabtaghūand that you may seekمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūna(be) grateful
  15. 15وَأَلْقَىwa-alqāAnd He has castفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthرَوَاسِيَrawāsiyafirm mountainsأَنْanlestتَمِيدَtamīdait should shakeبِكُمْbikumwith youوَأَنْهَارًاwa-anhāranand riversوَسُبُلًاwasubulanand roadsلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَهْتَدُونَtahtadūnabe guided
  16. 16وَعَلَامَاتٍwaʿalāmātinAnd landmarksوَبِالنَّجْمِwabil-najmiAnd by the starsهُمْhumtheyيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnaguide themselves
  17. 17أَفَمَنْafamanThen is He Whoيَخْلُقُyakhluqucreatesكَمَنْkamanlike one whoلَاlā(does) notيَخْلُقُyakhluqucreateأَفَلَاafalāThen will you notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnaremember
  18. 18وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَعُدُّواtaʿuddūyou should countنِعْمَةَniʿ'matathe Favors of Allahاللَّهِl-lahithe Favors of Allahلَاlānotتُحْصُوهَاtuḥ'ṣūhāyou could enumerate themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  19. 19وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتُسِرُّونَtusirrūnayou concealوَمَاwamāand whatتُعْلِنُونَtuʿ'linūnayou reveal
  20. 20وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whomيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلَاlānotيَخْلُقُونَyakhluqūnathey createشَيْئًاshayananythingوَهُمْwahumbut (are) themselvesيُخْلَقُونَyukh'laqūnacreated
  21. 21أَمْوَاتٌamwātun(They are) deadغَيْرُghayrunotأَحْيَاءٍaḥyāinaliveوَمَاwamāAnd notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceiveأَيَّانَayyānawhenيُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey will be resurrected
  22. 22إِلَهُكُمْilāhukumYour godإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaBut those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsمُنْكِرَةٌmunkiratunrefuseوَهُمْwahumand theyمُسْتَكْبِرُونَmus'takbirūna(are) arrogant
  23. 23لَاlāNoجَرَمَjaramadoubtأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatيُسِرُّونَyusirrūnathey concealوَمَاwamāand whatيُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey revealإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَl-mus'takbirīnathe arrogant ones
  24. 24وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقِيلَqīlait is saidلَهُمْlahumto themمَاذَاmādhāWhatأَنْزَلَanzalahas your Lord sent downرَبُّكُمْrabbukumhas your Lord sent downقَالُواqālūThey sayأَسَاطِيرُasāṭīruTalesالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the ancient
  25. 25لِيَحْمِلُواliyaḥmilūThat they may bearأَوْزَارَهُمْawzārahumtheir own burdensكَامِلَةًkāmilatan(in) fullيَوْمَyawmaon (the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionوَمِنْwaminand ofأَوْزَارِawzārithe burdensالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whomيُضِلُّونَهُمْyuḍillūnahumthey misled [them]بِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeأَلَاalāUnquestionablyسَاءَsāaevilمَاmā(is) whatيَزِرُونَyazirūnathey will bear
  26. 26قَدْqadVerilyمَكَرَmakaraplottedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themفَأَتَىfa-atābut Allah cameاللَّهُl-lahubut Allah cameبُنْيَانَهُمْbun'yānahum(at) their buildingمِنَminafromالْقَوَاعِدِl-qawāʿidithe foundationsفَخَرَّfakharraso fellعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon themالسَّقْفُl-saqfuthe roofمِنْminfromفَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove themوَأَتَاهُمُwa-atāhumuand came to themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَاlāthey (did) not perceiveيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey (did) not perceive
  27. 27ثُمَّthummaThenيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionيُخْزِيهِمْyukh'zīhimHe will disgrace themوَيَقُولُwayaqūluand sayأَيْنَaynaWhereشُرَكَاءِيَshurakāiya(are) My partnersالَّذِينَalladhīnathose (for) whomكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تُشَاقُّونَtushāqqūnaopposeفِيهِمْfīhim[in them]قَالَqālaWill sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْعِلْمَl-ʿil'mathe knowledgeإِنَّinnaIndeedالْخِزْيَl-khiz'yathe disgraceالْيَوْمَl-yawmathis Dayوَالسُّوءَwal-sūaand evilعَلَىʿalā(are) uponالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  28. 28الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whomتَتَوَفَّاهُمُtatawaffāhumutake them in deathالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsظَالِمِيẓālimī(while) wrongingأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesفَأَلْقَوُاfa-alqawūthen they would offerالسَّلَمَl-salamathe submissionمَاmāNotكُنَّاkunnāwe wereنَعْمَلُnaʿmaludoingمِنْminanyسُوءٍsūinevilبَلَىbalāNayإِنَّinnaindeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowerبِمَاbimāof whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  29. 29فَادْخُلُواfa-ud'khulūSo enterأَبْوَابَabwāba(the) gatesجَهَنَّمَjahannama(of) Hellخَالِدِينَkhālidīna(to) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itفَلَبِئْسَfalabi'saSurely wretchedمَثْوَىmathwā(is the) abodeالْمُتَكَبِّرِينَl-mutakabirīna(of) the arrogant
  30. 30وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it will be saidلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoاتَّقَوْاittaqawfear AllahمَاذَاmādhāWhatأَنْزَلَanzalahas your Lord sent downرَبُّكُمْrabbukumhas your Lord sent downقَالُواqālūThey will sayخَيْرًاkhayranGoodلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those whoأَحْسَنُواaḥsanūdo goodفِيfīinهَذِهِhādhihithisالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworldحَسَنَةٌḥasanatun(is) a goodوَلَدَارُwaladāruand the homeالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratiof the Hereafterخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterوَلَنِعْمَwalaniʿ'maAnd surely excellentدَارُdāru(is) the homeالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīna(of) the righteous
  31. 31جَنَّاتُjannātuGardensعَدْنٍʿadnin(of) Edenيَدْخُلُونَهَاyadkhulūnahāwhich they will enterتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversلَهُمْlahumFor themفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَاmā(will be) whateverيَشَاءُونَyashāūnathey wishكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيَجْزِيyajzīAllah rewardsاللَّهُl-lahuAllah rewardsالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe righteous
  32. 32الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whomتَتَوَفَّاهُمُtatawaffāhumutake them in deathالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsطَيِّبِينَṭayyibīna(when they are) pureيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingسَلَامٌsalāmunPeaceعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumu(be) upon youادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  33. 33هَلْhalDoيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waitإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatتَأْتِيَهُمُtatiyahumu(should) come to themالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsأَوْaworيَأْتِيَyatiya(should) comeأَمْرُamru(the) Commandرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your LordكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusفَعَلَfaʿaladidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themوَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمَهُمُẓalamahumuwronged themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَكِنْwalākinbutكَانُواkānūthey wereأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnawronging
  34. 34فَأَصَابَهُمْfa-aṣābahumThen struck themسَيِّئَاتُsayyiātu(the) evil (results)مَاmā(of) whatعَمِلُواʿamilūthey didوَحَاقَwaḥāqaand surroundedبِهِمْbihimthemمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)بِهِbihi[of it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
  35. 35وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَشْرَكُواashrakūassociate partners (with Allah)لَوْlawIfشَاءَshāaAllah (had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (had) willedمَاmānotعَبَدْنَاʿabadnāwe (would) have worshippedمِنْminother than Himدُونِهِdūnihiother than Himمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingنَحْنُnaḥnuweوَلَاwalāand notءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersوَلَاwalāand notحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāwe (would) have forbiddenمِنْminother than Himدُونِهِdūnihiother than HimمِنْminanythingشَيْءٍshayinanythingكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusفَعَلَfaʿaladidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْqablihim(were) before themفَهَلْfahalThen is (there)عَلَىʿalāonالرُّسُلِl-rusulithe messengersإِلَّاillāexceptالْبَلَاغُl-balāghuthe conveyanceالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclear
  36. 36وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyبَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe sentفِيfīintoكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍummatinnationرَسُولًاrasūlana Messengerأَنِanithatاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَاجْتَنِبُواwa-ij'tanibūand avoidالطَّاغُوتَl-ṭāghūtathe false deitiesفَمِنْهُمْfamin'humThen among themمَنْman(were some) whomهَدَىhadāAllah guidedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah guidedوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand among themمَنْman(were) someحَقَّتْḥaqqatwas justifiedعَلَيْهِʿalayhion themالضَّلَالَةُl-ḍalālatuthe strayingفَسِيرُواfasīrūSo travelفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَانْظُرُواfa-unẓurūand seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatuthe endالْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the deniers
  37. 37إِنْinIfتَحْرِصْtaḥriṣyou desireعَلَىʿalā[for]هُدَاهُمْhudāhumtheir guidanceفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(will) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideمَنْmanwhomيُضِلُّyuḍilluHe lets go astrayوَمَاwamāand not (are)لَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْminanyنَاصِرِينَnāṣirīnahelpers
  38. 38وَأَقْسَمُواwa-aqsamūAnd they swearبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahجَهْدَjahdastrongestأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihim(of) their oathsلَاlāAllah will not resurrectيَبْعَثُyabʿathuAllah will not resurrectاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will not resurrectمَنْman(one) whoيَمُوتُyamūtudiesبَلَىbalāNayوَعْدًاwaʿdan(it is) a promiseعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon Himحَقًّاḥaqqan(in) truthوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the mankindلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  39. 39لِيُبَيِّنَliyubayyinaThat He will make clearلَهُمُlahumuto themالَّذِيalladhīthatيَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnathey differفِيهِfīhiwhereinوَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaand that may knowالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyكَانُواkānūwereكَاذِبِينَkādhibīnaliars
  40. 40إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyقَوْلُنَاqawlunāOur Wordلِشَيْءٍlishayinto a thingإِذَاidhāwhenأَرَدْنَاهُaradnāhuWe intend itأَنْan(is) thatنَقُولَnaqūlaWe sayلَهُlahuto itكُنْkunBeفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it is
  41. 41وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoهَاجَرُواhājarūemigratedفِيfīin (the way)اللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmā[what]ظُلِمُواẓulimūthey were wrongedلَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْlanubawwi-annahumsurely We will give them positionفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldحَسَنَةًḥasanatangoodوَلَأَجْرُwala-ajrubut surely the rewardالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterأَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greaterلَوْlawifكَانُواkānūtheyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  42. 42الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَyatawakkalūnathey put their trust
  43. 43وَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youإِلَّاillāexceptرِجَالًاrijālanmenنُوحِيnūḥīWe revealedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themفَسْءَلُواfasalūso askأَهْلَahla(the) peopleالذِّكْرِl-dhik'ri(of) the Reminderإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouلَاlā(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  44. 44بِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiWith the clear proofsوَالزُّبُرِwal-zuburiand the Booksوَأَنْزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāAnd We sent downإِلَيْكَilaykato youالذِّكْرَl-dhik'rathe Remembranceلِتُبَيِّنَlitubayyinathat you may make clearلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the mankindمَاmāwhatنُزِّلَnuzzilahas been sent downإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themوَلَعَلَّهُمْwalaʿallahumand that they mayيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnareflect
  45. 45أَفَأَمِنَafa-aminaDo then feel secureالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمَكَرُواmakarūplottedالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātithe evil deedsأَنْanthatيَخْسِفَyakhsifaAllah will caveاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will caveبِهِمُbihimuwith themالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthأَوْaworيَأْتِيَهُمُyatiyahumuwill come to themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَاlānotيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
  46. 46أَوْawOrيَأْخُذَهُمْyakhudhahumthat He may seize themفِيfīinتَقَلُّبِهِمْtaqallubihimtheir going to and froفَمَاfamāthen notهُمْhumtheyبِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnawill be able to escape
  47. 47أَوْawOrيَأْخُذَهُمْyakhudhahumthat He may seize themعَلَىʿalāwithتَخَوُّفٍtakhawwufina gradual wastingفَإِنَّfa-innaBut indeedرَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lordلَرَءُوفٌlaraūfun(is) surely Full of KindnessرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  48. 48أَوَلَمْawalamHave notيَرَوْاyarawthey seenإِلَىilā[towards]مَاmāwhatخَلَقَkhalaqaAllah has createdاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has createdمِنْminfromشَيْءٍshayina thingيَتَفَيَّؤُاyatafayya-uInclineظِلَالُهُẓilāluhutheir shadowsعَنِʿanitoالْيَمِينِl-yamīnithe rightوَالشَّمَائِلِwal-shamāiliand to the leftسُجَّدًاsujjadanprostratingلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَهُمْwahumwhile theyدَاخِرُونَdākhirūna(are) humble
  49. 49وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allahيَسْجُدُyasjuduprostrateمَاmāwhateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمِنْminofدَابَّةٍdābbatinmoving creaturesوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuand the Angelsوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاlā(are) notيَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūnaarrogant
  50. 50يَخَافُونَyakhāfūnaThey fearرَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lordمِنْminabove themفَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove themوَيَفْعَلُونَwayafʿalūnaand they doمَاmāwhatيُؤْمَرُونَyu'marūnathey are commanded
  51. 51وَقَالَwaqālaAnd Allah has saidاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah has saidلَاlā(Do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeإِلَهَيْنِilāhayni[two] godsاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoإِنَّمَاinnamāonlyهُوَhuwaHeإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneفَإِيَّايَfa-iyyāyaso Me Aloneفَارْهَبُونِfa-ir'habūniyou fear [Me]
  52. 52وَلَهُwalahuAnd to Him (belongs)مَاmāwhateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَلَهُwalahuand to Himالدِّينُl-dīnu(is due) the worshipوَاصِبًاwāṣibanconstantlyأَفَغَيْرَafaghayraThen is it other (than)اللَّهِl-lahiAllahتَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear
  53. 53وَمَاwamāAnd whateverبِكُمْbikumyou haveمِنْminofنِعْمَةٍniʿ'matinfavorفَمِنَfamina(is) fromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahثُمَّthummaThenإِذَاidhāwhenمَسَّكُمُmassakumutouches youالضُّرُّl-ḍuruthe adversityفَإِلَيْهِfa-ilayhithen to Himتَجْءَرُونَtajarūnayou cry for help
  54. 54ثُمَّthummaThenإِذَاidhāwhenكَشَفَkashafaHe removesالضُّرَّl-ḍurathe adversityعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youإِذَاidhābehold!فَرِيقٌfarīqunA groupمِنْكُمْminkumof youبِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimwith their Lordيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnaassociate others
  55. 55لِيَكْفُرُواliyakfurūSo as to denyبِمَاbimāthat whichءَاتَيْنَاهُمْātaynāhumWe have given themفَتَمَتَّعُواfatamattaʿūThen enjoy yourselvesفَسَوْفَfasawfasoonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
  56. 56وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِمَاlimāto whatلَاlānotيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey knowنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمِمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقْنَاهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided themتَاللَّهِtal-lahiBy Allahلَتُسْءَلُنَّlatus'alunnasurely you will be askedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَفْتَرُونَtaftarūnainvent
  57. 57وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِلَّهِlillahito Allahالْبَنَاتِl-banātidaughtersسُبْحَانَهُsub'ḥānahuGlory be to Him!وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for themمَاmā(is) whatيَشْتَهُونَyashtahūnathey desire
  58. 58وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenبُشِّرَbushirais given good newsأَحَدُهُمْaḥaduhum(to) one of themبِالْأُنْثَىbil-unthāof a femaleظَلَّẓallaturnsوَجْهُهُwajhuhuhis faceمُسْوَدًّاmus'waddandarkوَهُوَwahuwaand heكَظِيمٌkaẓīmunsuppresses grief
  59. 59يَتَوَارَىyatawārāHe hides himselfمِنَminafromالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleمِنْmin(because) ofسُوءِsūithe evilمَاmāof whatبُشِّرَbushirahe has been given good newsبِهِbihiaboutأَيُمْسِكُهُayum'sikuhuShould he keep itعَلَىʿalāinهُونٍhūninhumiliationأَمْamorيَدُسُّهُyadussuhubury itفِيfīinالتُّرَابِl-turābithe dustأَلَاalāUnquestionablyسَاءَsāaevilمَاmā(is) whatيَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey decide
  60. 60لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterمَثَلُmathalu(is) a similitudeالسَّوْءِl-sawi(of) the evilوَلِلَّهِwalillahiand for Allahالْمَثَلُl-mathalu(is) the similitudeالْأَعْلَىl-aʿlāthe HighestوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuAll-Wise
  61. 61وَلَوْwalawAnd ifيُؤَاخِذُyuākhidhuAllah were to seizeاللَّهُl-lahuAllah were to seizeالنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindبِظُلْمِهِمْbiẓul'mihimfor their wrongdoingمَاmānotتَرَكَtarakaHe (would) have leftعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon itمِنْminanyدَابَّةٍdābbatinmoving creatureوَلَكِنْwalākinbutيُؤَخِّرُهُمْyu-akhiruhumHe defers themإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenجَاءَjāacomesأَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir termsلَاlānotيَسْتَءْخِرُونَyastakhirūnathey (will) remain behindسَاعَةًsāʿatanan hourوَلَاwalāand notيَسْتَقْدِمُونَyastaqdimūnathey can advance (it)
  62. 62وَيَجْعَلُونَwayajʿalūnaAnd they assignلِلَّهِlillahito Allahمَاmāwhatيَكْرَهُونَyakrahūnathey dislikeوَتَصِفُwataṣifuand assertأَلْسِنَتُهُمُalsinatuhumutheir tonguesالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieأَنَّannathatلَهُمُlahumufor themالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nā(is) the bestلَاlāNoجَرَمَjaramadoubtأَنَّannathatلَهُمُlahumufor themالنَّارَl-nāra(is) the Fireوَأَنَّهُمْwa-annahumand that theyمُفْرَطُونَmuf'raṭūna(will) be abandoned
  63. 63تَاللَّهِtal-lahiBy AllahلَقَدْlaqadcertainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe have sentإِلَىilātoأُمَمٍumaminnationsمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَزَيَّنَfazayyanabut made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsفَهُوَfahuwaSo heوَلِيُّهُمُwaliyyuhumu(is) their allyالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  64. 64وَمَاwamāAnd notأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe revealedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookإِلَّاillāexceptلِتُبَيِّنَlitubayyinathat you make clearلَهُمُlahumuto themالَّذِيalladhīthat whichاخْتَلَفُواikh'talafūthey differedفِيهِfīhiin itوَهُدًىwahudanand (as) a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand mercyلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  65. 65وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَنْزَلَanzalasends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَحْيَاfa-aḥyāthen gives lifeبِهِbihiby itالْأَرْضَl-arḍa(to) the earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterمَوْتِهَاmawtihāits deathإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a Signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnawho listen
  66. 66وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيfīinالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmithe cattleلَعِبْرَةًlaʿib'ratan(is) a lessonنُسْقِيكُمْnus'qīkumWe give you to drinkمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatفِيfī(is) inبُطُونِهِbuṭūnihitheir belliesمِنْminfromبَيْنِbaynibetweenفَرْثٍfarthinbowelsوَدَمٍwadaminand bloodلَبَنًاlabananmilkخَالِصًاkhāliṣanpureسَائِغًاsāighanpalatableلِلشَّارِبِينَlilshāribīnato the drinkers
  67. 67وَمِنْwaminAnd fromثَمَرَاتِthamarātifruitsالنَّخِيلِl-nakhīlithe date-palmوَالْأَعْنَابِwal-aʿnābiand the grapesتَتَّخِذُونَtattakhidhūnayou takeمِنْهُmin'hufrom itسَكَرًاsakaranintoxicantوَرِزْقًاwariz'qanand a provisionحَسَنًاḥasanangoodإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a Signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnawho use reason
  68. 68وَأَوْحَىwa-awḥāAnd inspiredرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordإِلَىilātoالنَّحْلِl-naḥlithe beeأَنِani[that]اتَّخِذِيittakhidhīTakeمِنَminaamongالْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountainsبُيُوتًاbuyūtanhousesوَمِنَwaminaand amongالشَّجَرِl-shajarithe treesوَمِمَّاwamimmāand in whatيَعْرِشُونَyaʿrishūnathey construct
  69. 69ثُمَّthummaThenكُلِيkulīeatمِنْminfromكُلِّkulliallالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarātithe fruitsفَاسْلُكِيfa-us'lukīand followسُبُلَsubula(the) waysرَبِّكِrabbiki(of) your Lordذُلُلًاdhululanmade smoothيَخْرُجُyakhrujuComes forthمِنْminfromبُطُونِهَاbuṭūnihātheir belliesشَرَابٌsharābuna drinkمُخْتَلِفٌmukh'talifun(of) varyingأَلْوَانُهُalwānuhucolorsفِيهِfīhiin itشِفَاءٌshifāon(is) a healingلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a Signلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho reflect
  70. 70وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youثُمَّthummathenيَتَوَفَّاكُمْyatawaffākumwill cause you to dieوَمِنْكُمْwaminkumAnd among youمَنْman(is one) whoيُرَدُّyuradduis sent backإِلَىilātoأَرْذَلِardhalithe worstالْعُمُرِl-ʿumuri(of) the ageلِكَيْlikayso thatلَاlānotيَعْلَمَyaʿlamahe will knowبَعْدَbaʿdaafterعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeشَيْئًاshayana thingإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  71. 71وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahفَضَّلَfaḍḍalahas favoredبَعْضَكُمْbaʿḍakumsome of youعَلَىʿalāoverبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersفِيfīinالرِّزْقِl-riz'qi[the] provisionفَمَاfamāBut notالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoفُضِّلُواfuḍḍilūwere favoredبِرَادِّيbirāddīwould hand overرِزْقِهِمْriz'qihimtheir provisionعَلَىʿalātoمَاmāwhomمَلَكَتْmalakatpossessأَيْمَانُهُمْaymānuhumtheir right handsفَهُمْfahumso (that) theyفِيهِfīhi(are) in itسَوَاءٌsawāonequalأَفَبِنِعْمَةِafabiniʿ'matiThen is it the Favorاللَّهِl-lahiof Allahيَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnathey reject
  72. 72وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahجَعَلَjaʿala(has) madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminfromأَنْفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesأَزْوَاجًاazwājanspousesوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand has madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminfromأَزْوَاجِكُمْazwājikumyour spousesبَنِينَbanīnasonsوَحَفَدَةًwaḥafadatanand grandsonsوَرَزَقَكُمْwarazaqakumand has provided for youمِنَminafromالطَّيِّبَاتِl-ṭayibātithe good thingsأَفَبِالْبَاطِلِafabil-bāṭiliThen in falsehood doيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeوَبِنِعْمَتِwabiniʿ'matiand the Favorاللَّهِl-lahiof Allahهُمْhumtheyيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieve
  73. 73وَيَعْبُدُونَwayaʿbudūnaAnd they worshipمِنْminother thanدُونِdūniother thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhichلَاlānotيَمْلِكُyamlikupossessesلَهُمْlahumfor themرِزْقًاriz'qanany provisionمِنَminafromالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthشَيْئًاshayan[anything]وَلَاwalāand notيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are able
  74. 74فَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَضْرِبُواtaḍribūput forthلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe similitudeإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumand youلَاlā(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  75. 75ضَرَبَḍarabaAllah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAllah sets forthمَثَلًاmathalanthe exampleعَبْدًاʿabdan(of) a slaveمَمْلُوكًاmamlūkan(who is) ownedلَاlānotيَقْدِرُyaqdiruhe has powerعَلَىʿalāonشَيْءٍshayinanythingوَمَنْwamanand (one) whomرَزَقْنَاهُrazaqnāhuWe provided himمِنَّاminnāfrom Usرِزْقًاriz'qana provisionحَسَنًاḥasanangoodفَهُوَfahuwaso heيُنْفِقُyunfiquspendsمِنْهُmin'hufrom itسِرًّاsirransecretlyوَجَهْرًاwajahranand publiclyهَلْhalCanيَسْتَوُونَyastawūnathey be equalالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll praiseلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for AllahبَلْbalNayأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhumbut most of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  76. 76وَضَرَبَwaḍarabaAnd Allah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah sets forthمَثَلًاmathalanan exampleرَجُلَيْنِrajulayni(of) two menأَحَدُهُمَاaḥaduhumāone of themأَبْكَمُabkamu(is) dumbلَاlānotيَقْدِرُyaqdiruhe has powerعَلَىʿalāonشَيْءٍshayinanythingوَهُوَwahuwawhile heكَلٌّkallun(is) a burdenعَلَىʿalāonمَوْلَاهُmawlāhuhis masterأَيْنَمَاaynamāWhereverيُوَجِّهْهُyuwajjihhuhe directs himلَاlānotيَأْتِyatihe comesبِخَيْرٍbikhayrinwith any goodهَلْhalIsيَسْتَوِيyastawīequalهُوَhuwaheوَمَنْwamanand (the one) whoيَأْمُرُyamurucommandsبِالْعَدْلِbil-ʿadli[of] justiceوَهُوَwahuwaand heعَلَىʿalā(is) onصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
  77. 77وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allah (belongs)غَيْبُghaybu(the) unseenالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāAnd notأَمْرُamru(is the) matterالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿati(of) the Hourإِلَّاillābutكَلَمْحِkalamḥias a twinklingالْبَصَرِl-baṣari(of) the eyeأَوْaworهُوَhuwaitأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearerإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrun(is) All-Powerful
  78. 78وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَخْرَجَكُمْakhrajakumbrought you forthمِنْminfromبُطُونِbuṭūnithe wombsأُمَّهَاتِكُمْummahātikum(of) your mothersلَاlānotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknowingشَيْئًاshayananythingوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeلَكُمُlakumufor youالسَّمْعَl-samʿathe hearingوَالْأَبْصَارَwal-abṣāraand the sightوَالْأَفْئِدَةَwal-afidataand the heartsلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnagive thanks
  79. 79أَلَمْalamDo notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeإِلَىilātowardsالطَّيْرِl-ṭayrithe birdsمُسَخَّرَاتٍmusakharātincontrolledفِيfīinجَوِّjawwithe midstالسَّمَاءِl-samāi(of) the skyمَاmāNoneيُمْسِكُهُنَّyum'sikuhunnaholds them upإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātin(are) Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  80. 80وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahجَعَلَjaʿala(has) madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْmin[from]بُيُوتِكُمْbuyūtikumyour homesسَكَنًاsakanana resting placeوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminfromجُلُودِjulūdithe hidesالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmi(of) the cattleبُيُوتًاbuyūtantentsتَسْتَخِفُّونَهَاtastakhiffūnahāwhich you find lightيَوْمَyawma(on) the dayظَعْنِكُمْẓaʿnikum(of) your travelوَيَوْمَwayawmaand the dayإِقَامَتِكُمْiqāmatikum(of) your encampmentوَمِنْwaminand fromأَصْوَافِهَاaṣwāfihātheir woolوَأَوْبَارِهَاwa-awbārihāand their furوَأَشْعَارِهَاwa-ashʿārihāand their hairأَثَاثًاathāthan(is) furnishingوَمَتَاعًاwamatāʿanand a provisionإِلَىilāforحِينٍḥīnina time
  81. 81وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahجَعَلَjaʿala(has) madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatخَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdظِلَالًاẓilālanshadesوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand (has) madeلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنَminafromالْجِبَالِl-jibālithe mountainsأَكْنَانًاaknānansheltersوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand (has) madeلَكُمْlakumfor youسَرَابِيلَsarābīlagarmentsتَقِيكُمُtaqīkumuto protect youالْحَرَّl-ḥara(from) the heatوَسَرَابِيلَwasarābīlaand garmentsتَقِيكُمْtaqīkumto protect youبَأْسَكُمْbasakumfrom your (mutual) violenceكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُتِمُّyutimmuHe completesنِعْمَتَهُniʿ'matahuHis Favorعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُسْلِمُونَtus'limūnasubmit
  82. 82فَإِنْfa-inThen ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn awayفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youالْبَلَاغُl-balāghu(is) the conveyanceالْمُبِينُl-mubīnuthe clear
  83. 83يَعْرِفُونَyaʿrifūnaThey recognizeنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahثُمَّthummathenيُنْكِرُونَهَاyunkirūnahāthey deny itوَأَكْثَرُهُمُwa-aktharuhumuAnd most of themالْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūna(are) the disbelievers
  84. 84وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd the DayنَبْعَثُnabʿathuWe will resurrectمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍummatinnationشَهِيدًاshahīdana witnessثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotيُؤْذَنُyu'dhanuwill be permittedلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُسْتَعْتَبُونَyus'taʿtabūnawill be asked to make amends
  85. 85وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَءَاraā(will) seeالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentفَلَاfalāthen notيُخَفَّفُyukhaffafuit will be lightenedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfor themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنْظَرُونَyunẓarūnawill be given respite
  86. 86وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَءَاraā(will) seeالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَشْرَكُواashrakūassociated partners with Allahشُرَكَاءَهُمْshurakāahumtheir partnersقَالُواqālūThey will sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseشُرَكَاؤُنَاshurakāunā(are) our partnersالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomكُنَّاkunnāwe used toنَدْعُواnadʿūinvokeمِنْminbesides Youدُونِكَdūnikabesides Youفَأَلْقَوْاfa-alqawBut they (will) throw backإِلَيْهِمُilayhimuat themالْقَوْلَl-qawla(their) wordإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youلَكَاذِبُونَlakādhibūna(are) surely liars
  87. 87وَأَلْقَوْاwa-alqawAnd they (will) offerإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(on) that Dayالسَّلَمَl-salamathe submissionوَضَلَّwaḍallaand (is) lostعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
  88. 88الَّذِينَalladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَصَدُّواwaṣaddūand hinderedعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahزِدْنَاهُمْzid'nāhumWe will increase themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(in) punishmentفَوْقَfawqaoverالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishmentبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يُفْسِدُونَyuf'sidūnaspread corruption
  89. 89وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd the DayنَبْعَثُnabʿathuWe will resurrectفِيfīamongكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍummatinnationشَهِيدًاshahīdana witnessعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themمِنْminfromأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesوَجِئْنَاwaji'nāAnd We (will) bringبِكَbikayouشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a witnessعَلَىʿalāoverهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseوَنَزَّلْنَاwanazzalnāAnd We sent downعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookتِبْيَانًاtib'yānan(as) a clarificationلِكُلِّlikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingوَهُدًىwahudanand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand mercyوَبُشْرَىwabush'rāand glad tidingsلِلْمُسْلِمِينَlil'mus'limīnafor the Muslims
  90. 90إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَأْمُرُyamurucommandsبِالْعَدْلِbil-ʿadlijusticeوَالْإِحْسَانِwal-iḥ'sāniand the goodوَإِيتَائِwaītāiand givingذِيdhī(to) relativesالْقُرْبَىl-qur'bā(to) relativesوَيَنْهَىwayanhāand forbidsعَنِʿani[from]الْفَحْشَاءِl-faḥshāithe immoralityوَالْمُنْكَرِwal-munkariand the badوَالْبَغْيِwal-baghyiand the oppressionيَعِظُكُمْyaʿiẓukumHe admonishes youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnatake heed
  91. 91وَأَوْفُواwa-awfūAnd fulfilبِعَهْدِbiʿahdithe covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِذَاidhāwhenعَاهَدْتُمْʿāhadttumyou have taken a covenantوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَنْقُضُواtanquḍūbreakالْأَيْمَانَl-aymānaoathsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterتَوْكِيدِهَاtawkīdihātheir confirmationوَقَدْwaqadwhile verilyجَعَلْتُمُjaʿaltumuyou have madeاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youكَفِيلًاkafīlana suretyإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتَفْعَلُونَtafʿalūnayou do
  92. 92وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونُواtakūnūbeكَالَّتِيka-allatīlike her whoنَقَضَتْnaqaḍatuntwistsغَزْلَهَاghazlahāher spun yarnمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterقُوَّةٍquwwatinstrengthأَنْكَاثًاankāthan(into) untwisted strandsتَتَّخِذُونَtattakhidhūnayou takeأَيْمَانَكُمْaymānakumyour oathsدَخَلًاdakhalan(as) a deceptionبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youأَنْanbecauseتَكُونَtakūnaisأُمَّةٌummatuna communityهِيَhiya[it]أَرْبَىarbāmore numerousمِنْminthanأُمَّةٍummatin(another) communityإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَبْلُوكُمُyablūkumuAllah tests youاللَّهُl-lahuAllah tests youبِهِbihiby itوَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّwalayubayyinannaAnd He will make clearلَكُمْlakumto youيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَاmāwhatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)فِيهِfīhiin itتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffer
  93. 93وَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāaAllah (had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (had) willedلَجَعَلَكُمْlajaʿalakumsurely He (could) have made youأُمَّةًummatana nationوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatanoneوَلَكِنْwalākinbutيُضِلُّyuḍilluHe lets go astrayمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَهْدِيwayahdīand guidesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَلَتُسْءَلُنَّwalatus'alunnaAnd surely you will be questionedعَمَّاʿammāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  94. 94وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeأَيْمَانَكُمْaymānakumyour oathsدَخَلًاdakhalan(as) a deceptionبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youفَتَزِلَّfatazillalest should slipقَدَمٌqadamuna footبَعْدَbaʿdaafterثُبُوتِهَاthubūtihāit is firmly plantedوَتَذُوقُواwatadhūqūand you would tasteالسُّوءَl-sūathe evilبِمَاbimāfor whatصَدَدْتُمْṣadadttumyou hinderedعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَكُمْwalakumand for youعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  95. 95وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَشْتَرُواtashtarūexchangeبِعَهْدِbiʿahdithe covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahثَمَنًاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleإِنَّمَاinnamāIndeed whatعِنْدَʿinda(is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahهُوَhuwaitخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou were (to)تَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  96. 96مَاmāWhateverعِنْدَكُمْʿindakum(is) with youيَنْفَدُyanfaduwill be exhaustedوَمَاwamāand whateverعِنْدَʿinda(is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبَاقٍbāqin(will) be remainingوَلَنَجْزِيَنَّwalanajziyannaAnd surely We will payالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientأَجْرَهُمْajrahumtheir rewardبِأَحْسَنِbi-aḥsanito (the) bestمَاmā(of) whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  97. 97مَنْmanWhoeverعَمِلَʿamiladoesصَالِحًاṣāliḥanrighteous deedsمِنْminwhetherذَكَرٍdhakarinmaleأَوْaworأُنْثَىunthāfemaleوَهُوَwahuwawhile heمُؤْمِنٌmu'minun(is) a believerفَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُfalanuḥ'yiyannahuthen surely We will give him lifeحَيَوةًḥayatana lifeطَيِّبَةًṭayyibatangoodوَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْwalanajziyannahumand We will pay themأَجْرَهُمْajrahumtheir rewardبِأَحْسَنِbi-aḥsanito (the) bestمَاmāof whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  98. 98فَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenقَرَأْتَqaratayou reciteالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'ānathe Quranفَاسْتَعِذْfa-is'taʿidhseek refugeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahمِنَminafromالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭānithe Shaitaanالرَّجِيمِl-rajīmithe accursed
  99. 99إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heلَيْسَlaysanotلَهُlahufor himسُلْطَانٌsul'ṭānun(is) any authorityعَلَىʿalāonالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَلَىwaʿalāand uponرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَyatawakkalūnathey put their trust
  100. 100إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyسُلْطَانُهُsul'ṭānuhuhis authorityعَلَىʿalā(is) overالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَتَوَلَّوْنَهُyatawallawnahutake him as an allyوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoهُمْhum[they]بِهِbihiwith Himمُشْرِكُونَmush'rikūnaassociate partners
  101. 101وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenبَدَّلْنَاbaddalnāWe substituteءَايَةًāyatana Verseمَكَانَmakāna(in) placeءَايَةٍāyatin(of) a Verseوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَاbimāof whatيُنَزِّلُyunazziluHe sends downقَالُواqālūthey sayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنْتَantayouمُفْتَرٍmuf'tarin(are) an inventorبَلْbalNayأَكْثَرُهُمْaktharuhummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  102. 102قُلْqulSayنَزَّلَهُnazzalahuHas brought it downرُوحُrūḥuthe Holy Spiritالْقُدُسِl-qudusithe Holy Spiritمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthلِيُثَبِّتَliyuthabbitato make firmالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَهُدًىwahudanand (as) a guidanceوَبُشْرَىwabush'rāand glad tidingsلِلْمُسْلِمِينَlil'mus'limīnato the Muslims
  103. 103وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyنَعْلَمُnaʿlamuWe knowأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيُعَلِّمُهُyuʿallimuhuteaches himبَشَرٌbasharuna human beingلِسَانُlisānu(The) tongueالَّذِيalladhī(of) the oneيُلْحِدُونَyul'ḥidūnathey referإِلَيْهِilayhito himأَعْجَمِيٌّaʿjamiyyun(is) foreignوَهَذَاwahādhāwhile thisلِسَانٌlisānun(is) a languageعَرَبِيٌّʿarabiyyunArabicمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  104. 104إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin the Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahلَاlānotيَهْدِيهِمُyahdīhimuAllah will guide themاللَّهُl-lahuAllah will guide themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  105. 105إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَفْتَرِيyaftarīthey inventالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe falsehoodالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin the Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseهُمُhumutheyالْكَاذِبُونَl-kādhibūna(are) the liars
  106. 106مَنْmanWhoeverكَفَرَkafaradisbelievesبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterإِيمَانِهِīmānihihis beliefإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(one) whoأُكْرِهَuk'rihais forcedوَقَلْبُهُwaqalbuhuwhile his heartمُطْمَئِنٌّmuṭ'ma-innun(is) contentبِالْإِيمَانِbil-īmāniwith the faithوَلَكِنْwalākinButمَنْman(one) whoشَرَحَsharaḥaopensبِالْكُفْرِbil-kuf'rito disbeliefصَدْرًاṣadran(his) breastفَعَلَيْهِمْfaʿalayhimthen upon themغَضَبٌghaḍabun(is) a wrathمِنَminaofاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  107. 107ذَلِكَdhālikaThat (is)بِأَنَّهُمُbi-annahumubecauseاسْتَحَبُّواis'taḥabbūthey preferredالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldعَلَىʿalāoverالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  108. 108أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the onesطَبَعَṭabaʿaAllah has set a sealاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has set a sealعَلَىʿalāoverقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsوَسَمْعِهِمْwasamʿihimand their hearingوَأَبْصَارِهِمْwa-abṣārihimand their sightوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseهُمُhumuthey areالْغَافِلُونَl-ghāfilūnathe heedless
  109. 109لَاlāNoجَرَمَjaramadoubtأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterهُمُhumu[they]الْخَاسِرُونَl-khāsirūna(are) the losers
  110. 110ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّinnaindeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoهَاجَرُواhājarūemigratedمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmāwhatفُتِنُواfutinūthey had been put to trialsثُمَّthummathenجَاهَدُواjāhadūstrove hardوَصَبَرُواwaṣabarūand were patientإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordمِنْminafter itبَعْدِهَاbaʿdihāafter itلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrunsurely is Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  111. 111يَوْمَyawma(On) the Dayتَأْتِيtatī(when) will comeكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulتُجَادِلُtujādilupleadingعَنْʿanforنَفْسِهَاnafsihāitselfوَتُوَفَّىwatuwaffāand will be paid in fullكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulمَاmāwhatعَمِلَتْʿamilatit didوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاlā(will) notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnabe wronged
  112. 112وَضَرَبَwaḍarabaAnd Allah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah sets forthمَثَلًاmathalana similitudeقَرْيَةًqaryatan(of) a townكَانَتْkānat(that) wasءَامِنَةًāminatansecureمُطْمَئِنَّةًmuṭ'ma-innatanand contentيَأْتِيهَاyatīhācoming to itرِزْقُهَاriz'quhāits provisionرَغَدًاraghadan(in) abundanceمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryمَكَانٍmakāninplaceفَكَفَرَتْfakafaratbut it deniedبِأَنْعُمِbi-anʿumi(the) Favors of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) Favors of Allahفَأَذَاقَهَاfa-adhāqahāso Allah made it tasteاللَّهُl-lahuso Allah made it tasteلِبَاسَlibāsa(the) garbالْجُوعِl-jūʿi(of) the hungerوَالْخَوْفِwal-khawfiand the fearبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnado
  113. 113وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَهُمْjāahumcame to themرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom among themفَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhubut they denied himفَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuso seized themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentوَهُمْwahumwhile theyظَالِمُونَẓālimūna(were) wrongdoers
  114. 114فَكُلُواfakulūSo eatمِمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumuAllah has provided youاللَّهُl-lahuAllah has provided youحَلَالًاḥalālanlawfulطَيِّبًاṭayyibanand goodوَاشْكُرُواwa-ush'kurūAnd be gratefulنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(for the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntum[you]إِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim Aloneتَعْبُدُونَtaʿbudūnayou worship
  115. 115إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyحَرَّمَḥarramaHe has forbiddenعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuto youالْمَيْتَةَl-maytatathe dead animalوَالدَّمَwal-damaand the bloodوَلَحْمَwalaḥmaand the fleshالْخِنْزِيرِl-khinzīri(of) the swineوَمَاwamāand whatأُهِلَّuhillahas been dedicatedلِغَيْرِlighayrito other (than)اللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِهِbihi[with it]فَمَنِfamaniBut (if) oneاضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) forcedغَيْرَghayrawithout (being)بَاغٍbāghindisobedientوَلَاwalāand notعَادٍʿādina transgressorفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  116. 116وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقُولُواtaqūlūsayلِمَاlimāfor that whichتَصِفُtaṣifuassertأَلْسِنَتُكُمُalsinatukumuyour tonguesالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieهَذَاhādhāThisحَلَالٌḥalālun(is) lawfulوَهَذَاwahādhāand thisحَرَامٌḥarāmun(is) forbiddenلِتَفْتَرُواlitaftarūso that you inventعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainventعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieلَاlāthey will not succeedيُفْلِحُونَyuf'liḥūnathey will not succeed
  117. 117مَتَاعٌmatāʿunAn enjoymentقَلِيلٌqalīlunlittleوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  118. 118وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd toالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُواhādūare JewsحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe have forbiddenمَاmāwhatقَصَصْنَاqaṣaṣnāWe relatedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمْنَاهُمْẓalamnāhumWe wronged themوَلَكِنْwalākinbutكَانُواkānūthey used (to)أَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnawrong
  119. 119ثُمَّthummaThenإِنَّinnaindeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoعَمِلُواʿamilūdidالسُّوءَl-sūaevilبِجَهَالَةٍbijahālatinin ignoranceثُمَّthummathenتَابُواtābūrepentedمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatوَأَصْلَحُواwa-aṣlaḥūand corrected themselvesإِنَّinnaindeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordمِنْminafter thatبَعْدِهَاbaʿdihāafter thatلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun(is) surely Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  120. 120إِنَّinnaIndeedإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimكَانَkānawasأُمَّةًummatana nationقَانِتًاqānitanobedientلِلَّهِlillahito Allahحَنِيفًاḥanīfanuprightوَلَمْwalamand notيَكُyakuhe wasمِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
  121. 121شَاكِرًاshākiranThankfulلِأَنْعُمِهِli-anʿumihifor His favorsاجْتَبَاهُij'tabāhuHe chose himوَهَدَاهُwahadāhuand guided himإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭinthe wayمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
  122. 122وَءَاتَيْنَاهُwaātaynāhuAnd We gave himفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldحَسَنَةًḥasanatangoodوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuand indeed heفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterلَمِنَlamina(he) will surely (be) amongالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
  123. 123ثُمَّthummaThenأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youأَنِanithatاتَّبِعْittabiʿYou followمِلَّةَmillata(the) religionإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimحَنِيفًاḥanīfanuprightوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
  124. 124إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyجُعِلَjuʿilawas appointedالسَّبْتُl-sabtuthe Sabbathعَلَىʿalāforالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاخْتَلَفُواikh'talafūdifferedفِيهِfīhiin itوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَيَحْكُمُlayaḥkumuwill surely judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionفِيمَاfīmāin whatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)فِيهِfīhi[in it]يَخْتَلِفُونَyakhtalifūnadiffer
  125. 125ادْعُud'ʿuCallإِلَىilātoسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordبِالْحِكْمَةِbil-ḥik'matiwith the wisdomوَالْمَوْعِظَةِwal-mawʿiẓatiand the instructionالْحَسَنَةِl-ḥasanatithe goodوَجَادِلْهُمْwajādil'humand discuss with themبِالَّتِيbi-allatīin thatهِيَhiyawhichأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) bestإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour LordهُوَhuwaHeأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِمَنْbimanof whoضَلَّḍallahas strayedعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِهِsabīlihiHis wayوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِالْمُهْتَدِينَbil-muh'tadīnaof the guided ones
  126. 126وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifعَاقَبْتُمْʿāqabtumyou retaliateفَعَاقِبُواfaʿāqibūthen retaliateبِمِثْلِbimith'liwith the likeمَاmāof whatعُوقِبْتُمْʿūqib'tumyou were afflictedبِهِbihiwith [it]وَلَئِنْwala-inBut ifصَبَرْتُمْṣabartumyou are patientلَهُوَlahuwasurely (it) isخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterلِلصَّابِرِينَlilṣṣābirīnafor those who are patient
  127. 127وَاصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birAnd be patientوَمَاwamāand notصَبْرُكَṣabruka(is) your patienceإِلَّاillābutبِاللَّهِbil-lahifrom AllahوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَحْزَنْtaḥzangrieveعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَكُtakubeفِيfīinضَيْقٍḍayqindistressمِمَّاmimmāfor whatيَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnathey plot
  128. 128إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَعَmaʿa(is) withالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّقَوْاittaqawfear (Him)وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoهُمْhum[they]مُحْسِنُونَmuḥ'sinūna(are) good-doers
