بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 14 — Ibrahim

  1. 1الٓرalif-lam-raAlif Laam RaكِتَابٌkitābunA Bookأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuwhich We have revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youلِتُخْرِجَlitukh'rijaso that you may bring outالنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindمِنَminafromالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]إِلَىilātoالنُّورِl-nūrithe lightبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby the permissionرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordإِلَىilātoصِرَاطِṣirāṭithe Pathالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mightyالْحَمِيدِl-ḥamīdithe Praiseworthy
  2. 2اللَّهِal-lahiAllahالَّذِيalladhī(is) the Oneلَهُlahuto Him (belongs)مَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَوَيْلٌwawaylunAnd woeلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelieversمِنْminfromعَذَابٍʿadhābinthe punishmentشَدِيدٍshadīdinsevere
  3. 3الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَسْتَحِبُّونَyastaḥibbūnalove moreالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldعَلَىʿalāthanالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterوَيَصُدُّونَwayaṣuddūnaand hinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) Pathاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَيَبْغُونَهَاwayabghūnahāand seek in itعِوَجًاʿiwajancrookednessأُولَئِكَulāikathoseفِي[in]ضَلَالٍḍalālin(are) far astrayبَعِيدٍbaʿīdin(are) far astray
  4. 4وَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمِنْminanyرَسُولٍrasūlinMessengerإِلَّاillāexceptبِلِسَانِbilisāniwith the languageقَوْمِهِqawmihi(of) his peopleلِيُبَيِّنَliyubayyinaso that he might make clearلَهُمْlahumfor themفَيُضِلُّfayuḍilluThen Allah lets go astrayاللَّهُl-lahuThen Allah lets go astrayمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَهْدِيwayahdīand guidesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  5. 5وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمُوسَىmūsāMusaبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our SignsأَنْanthatأَخْرِجْakhrijBring outقَوْمَكَqawmakayour peopleمِنَminafromالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]إِلَىilātoالنُّورِl-nūrithe lightوَذَكِّرْهُمْwadhakkir'humAnd remind themبِأَيَّامِbi-ayyāmiof the daysاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) the signsلِكُلِّlikullifor everyoneصَبَّارٍṣabbārinpatientشَكُورٍshakūrinand thankful
  6. 6وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqālasaidمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleاذْكُرُواudh'kurūRememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favor of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) Favor of Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِذْidhwhenأَنْجَاكُمْanjākumHe saved youمِنْminfromءَالِāli(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunيَسُومُونَكُمْyasūmūnakumthey were afflicting youسُوءَsūa(with) evilالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābitormentوَيُذَبِّحُونَwayudhabbiḥūnaand were slaughteringأَبْنَاءَكُمْabnāakumyour sonsوَيَسْتَحْيُونَwayastaḥyūnaand letting liveنِسَاءَكُمْnisāakumyour womenوَفِيwafīAnd inذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatبَلَاءٌbalāon(was) a trialمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  7. 7وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenتَأَذَّنَta-adhanaproclaimedرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordلَئِنْla-inIfشَكَرْتُمْshakartumyou are thankfulلَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْla-azīdannakumsurely I will increase youوَلَئِنْwala-inbut ifكَفَرْتُمْkafartumyou are ungratefulإِنَّinnaindeedعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentلَشَدِيدٌlashadīdun(is) surely severe
  8. 8وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidمُوسَىmūsāMusaإِنْinIfتَكْفُرُواtakfurūyou disbelieveأَنْتُمْantumyouوَمَنْwamanand whoeverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَغَنِيٌّlaghaniyyuncertainly (is) Free of needحَمِيدٌḥamīdunPraiseworthy
  9. 9أَلَمْalamHas notيَأْتِكُمْyatikumcome to youنَبَؤُاnaba-u(the) newsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoمِنْmin(were) before youقَبْلِكُمْqablikum(were) before youقَوْمِqawmithe peopleنُوحٍnūḥinof Nuhوَعَادٍwaʿādinand Aadوَثَمُودَwathamūdaand Thamudوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoمِنْmin(were) after themبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihim(were) after themلَاNoneيَعْلَمُهُمْyaʿlamuhumknows themإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumCame to themرُسُلُهُمْrusuluhumtheir Messengersبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofsفَرَدُّواfaraddūbut they returnedأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsفِيinأَفْوَاهِهِمْafwāhihimtheir mouthsوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidإِنَّاinnāindeed, weكَفَرْنَاkafarnā[we] disbelieveبِمَاbimāin whatأُرْسِلْتُمْur'sil'tumyou have been sentبِهِbihiwith [it]وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, weلَفِيlafī(are) surely inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِمَّاmimmāabout whatتَدْعُونَنَاtadʿūnanāyou invite usإِلَيْهِilayhito itمُرِيبٍmurībinsuspicious
  10. 10قَالَتْqālatSaidرُسُلُهُمْrusuluhumtheir MessengersأَفِيafīCan (there) be aboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَكٌّshakkunany doubtفَاطِرِfāṭiri(the) Creatorالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthيَدْعُوكُمْyadʿūkumHe invites youلِيَغْفِرَliyaghfiraso that He may forgiveلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْmin[of]ذُنُوبِكُمْdhunūbikumyour sinsوَيُؤَخِّرَكُمْwayu-akhirakumand give you respiteإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedقَالُواqālūThey saidإِنْinNotأَنْتُمْantumyouإِلَّاillā(are) butبَشَرٌbasharuna humanمِثْلُنَاmith'lunālike usتُرِيدُونَturīdūnayou wishأَنْantoتَصُدُّونَاtaṣuddūnāhinder usعَمَّاʿammāfrom whatكَانَkānaused toيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersفَأْتُونَاfatūnāSo bring usبِسُلْطَانٍbisul'ṭāninan authorityمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  11. 11قَالَتْqālatSaidلَهُمْlahumto themرُسُلُهُمْrusuluhumtheir MessengersإِنْinNotنَحْنُnaḥnuwe (are)إِلَّاillābutبَشَرٌbasharuna humanمِثْلُكُمْmith'lukumlike youوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَمُنُّyamunnubestows His GraceعَلَىʿalāonمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisلَنَاlanāfor usأَنْanthatنَأْتِيَكُمْnatiyakumwe bring youبِسُلْطَانٍbisul'ṭāninan authorityإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby the permission of Allahاللَّهِl-lahiby the permission of AllahوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkaliso let put (their) trustالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
  12. 12وَمَاwamāAnd whatلَنَاlanā(is) for usأَلَّاallāthat notنَتَوَكَّلَnatawakkalawe put our trustعَلَىʿalāuponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَقَدْwaqadwhile certainlyهَدَانَاhadānāHe has guided usسُبُلَنَاsubulanāto our waysوَلَنَصْبِرَنَّwalanaṣbirannaAnd surely we will bear with patienceعَلَىʿalāonمَاwhatءَاذَيْتُمُونَاādhaytumūnāharm you may cause usوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkaliso let put (their) trustالْمُتَوَكِّلُونَl-mutawakilūnathe ones who put (their) trust
  13. 13وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلِرُسُلِهِمْlirusulihimto their Messengersلَنُخْرِجَنَّكُمْlanukh'rijannakumSurely we will drive you outمِنْminofأَرْضِنَاarḍināour landأَوْaworلَتَعُودُنَّlataʿūdunnasurely you should returnفِيtoمِلَّتِنَاmillatināour religionفَأَوْحَىfa-awḥāSo inspiredإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themرَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir Lordلَنُهْلِكَنَّlanuh'likannaWe will surely destroyالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  14. 14وَلَنُسْكِنَنَّكُمُwalanus'kinannakumuAnd surely We will make you dwellالْأَرْضَl-arḍa(in) the landمِنْminafter themبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themذَلِكَdhālikaThatلِمَنْliman(is) for whoeverخَافَkhāfafearsمَقَامِيmaqāmīstanding before Meوَخَافَwakhāfaand fearsوَعِيدِwaʿīdiMy Threat
  15. 15وَاسْتَفْتَحُواwa-is'taftaḥūAnd they sought victoryوَخَابَwakhābaand disappointedكُلُّkullueveryجَبَّارٍjabbārintyrantعَنِيدٍʿanīdinobstinate
  16. 16مِنْminAhead of himوَرَائِهِwarāihiAhead of himجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hellوَيُسْقَىwayus'qāand he will be made to drinkمِنْminofمَاءٍmāinwaterصَدِيدٍṣadīdinpurulent
  17. 17يَتَجَرَّعُهُyatajarraʿuhuHe will sip itوَلَاwalābut notيَكَادُyakāduhe will be nearيُسِيغُهُyusīghuhu(to) swallowing itوَيَأْتِيهِwayatīhiAnd will come to himالْمَوْتُl-mawtuthe deathمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryمَكَانٍmakāninsideوَمَاwamābut notهُوَhuwaheبِمَيِّتٍbimayyitinwill dieوَمِنْwaminAnd ahead of himوَرَائِهِwarāihiAnd ahead of himعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentغَلِيظٌghalīẓunharsh
  18. 18مَثَلُmathalu(The) exampleالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveبِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimin their Lordأَعْمَالُهُمْaʿmāluhumtheir deedsكَرَمَادٍkaramādin(are) like ashesاشْتَدَّتْish'taddatblows furiouslyبِهِbihion itالرِّيحُl-rīḥuthe windفِيinيَوْمٍyawmina dayعَاصِفٍʿāṣifinstormyلَاNoيَقْدِرُونَyaqdirūnacontrol (they have)مِمَّاmimmāof whatكَسَبُواkasabūthey have earnedعَلَىʿalāonشَيْءٍshayinanythingذَلِكَdhālikaThatهُوَhuwa[it]الضَّلَالُl-ḍalālu(is) the strayingالْبَعِيدُl-baʿīdufar
  19. 19أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthإِنْinIfيَشَأْyashaHe willsيُذْهِبْكُمْyudh'hib'kumHe can remove youوَيَأْتِwayatiand bringبِخَلْقٍbikhalqina creationجَدِيدٍjadīdinnew
  20. 20وَمَاwamāAnd notذَلِكَdhālika(is) thatعَلَىʿalāonاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِعَزِيزٍbiʿazīzingreat
  21. 21وَبَرَزُواwabarazūAnd they will come forthلِلَّهِlillahibefore Allahجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall togetherفَقَالَfaqālathen will sayالضُّعَفَاءُl-ḍuʿafāuthe weakلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoاسْتَكْبَرُواis'takbarūwere arrogantإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weكُنَّاkunnāwe wereلَكُمْlakumyourتَبَعًاtabaʿanfollowersفَهَلْfahalso canأَنْتُمْantumyou (be)مُغْنُونَmugh'nūnathe one who availsعَنَّاʿannāusمِنْminfromعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahمِنْminanythingشَيْءٍshayinanythingقَالُواqālūThey will sayلَوْlawIfهَدَانَاhadānāAllah had guided usاللَّهُl-lahuAllah had guided usلَهَدَيْنَاكُمْlahadaynākumsurely we would have guided youسَوَاءٌsawāon(It is) sameعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāfor usأَجَزِعْنَاajaziʿ'nāwhether we show intoleranceأَمْamorصَبَرْنَاṣabarnāwe are patientمَاnotلَنَاlanā(is) for usمِنْminanyمَحِيصٍmaḥīṣinplace of escape
  22. 22وَقَالَwaqālaAnd will sayالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanلَمَّاlammāwhenقُضِيَquḍiyahas been decidedالْأَمْرُl-amruthe matterإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَعَدَكُمْwaʿadakumpromised youوَعْدَwaʿdaa promiseالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi(of) truthوَوَعَدْتُكُمْwawaʿadttukumAnd I promised youفَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْfa-akhlaftukumbut I betrayed youوَمَاwamāBut notكَانَkānaI hadلِيَliyaI hadعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youمِنْminanyسُلْطَانٍsul'ṭāninauthorityإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatدَعَوْتُكُمْdaʿawtukumI invited youفَاسْتَجَبْتُمْfa-is'tajabtumand you respondedلِيto meفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَلُومُونِيtalūmūnīblame meوَلُومُواwalūmūbut blameأَنْفُسَكُمْanfusakumyourselvesمَاNotأَنَاanā(can) Iبِمُصْرِخِكُمْbimuṣ'rikhikum(be) your helperوَمَاwamāand notأَنْتُمْantumyou (can)بِمُصْرِخِيَّbimuṣ'rikhiyya(be) my helperإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iكَفَرْتُkafartudenyبِمَاbimā[of what]أَشْرَكْتُمُونِashraktumūniyour association of me (with Allah)مِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeإِنَّinnaIndeedالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  23. 23وَأُدْخِلَwa-ud'khilaAnd will be admittedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīna(will) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby the permissionرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordتَحِيَّتُهُمْtaḥiyyatuhumtheir greetingsفِيهَاfīhāthereinسَلَامٌsalāmun(will be) peace
  24. 24أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeكَيْفَkayfahowضَرَبَḍarabaAllah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAllah sets forthمَثَلًاmathalanthe exampleكَلِمَةًkalimatana wordطَيِّبَةًṭayyibatangoodكَشَجَرَةٍkashajaratin(is) like a treeطَيِّبَةٍṭayyibatingoodأَصْلُهَاaṣluhāits rootثَابِتٌthābitun(is) firmوَفَرْعُهَاwafarʿuhāand its branchesفِي(are) inالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe sky
  25. 25تُؤْتِيtu'tīGivingأُكُلَهَاukulahāits fruitكُلَّkullaallحِينٍḥīnintimeبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby the permissionرَبِّهَاrabbihāof its LordوَيَضْرِبُwayaḍribuAnd Allah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah sets forthالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe examplesلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankindلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَyatadhakkarūnaremember
  26. 26وَمَثَلُwamathaluAnd (the) exampleكَلِمَةٍkalimatin(of) a wordخَبِيثَةٍkhabīthatinevilكَشَجَرَةٍkashajaratin(is) like a treeخَبِيثَةٍkhabīthatinevilاجْتُثَّتْuj'tuthatuprootedمِنْminfromفَوْقِfawqithe surfaceالْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earthمَاnotلَهَاlahāfor itمِنْmin(is) anyقَرَارٍqarārinstability
  27. 27يُثَبِّتُyuthabbituAllah keeps firmاللَّهُl-lahuAllah keeps firmالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِالْقَوْلِbil-qawliwith the firm wordالثَّابِتِl-thābitiwith the firm wordفِيinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَفِيwafīand inالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe HereafterوَيُضِلُّwayuḍilluAnd Allah lets go astrayاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah lets go astrayالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersوَيَفْعَلُwayafʿaluAnd Allah doesاللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah doesمَاwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe wills
  28. 28أَلَمْalamHave notتَرَtarayou seenإِلَىilā[to]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoبَدَّلُواbaddalū(have) changedنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahكُفْرًاkuf'ran(for) disbeliefوَأَحَلُّواwa-aḥallūand they ledقَوْمَهُمْqawmahumtheir peopleدَارَdāra(to the) houseالْبَوَارِl-bawāri(of) destruction
  29. 29جَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellيَصْلَوْنَهَاyaṣlawnahā(in) it they will burnوَبِئْسَwabi'saand a wretchedالْقَرَارُl-qarāruplace to settle
  30. 30وَجَعَلُواwajaʿalūAnd they set upلِلَّهِlillahito Allahأَنْدَادًاandādanequalsلِيُضِلُّواliyuḍillūso that they misleadعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِهِsabīlihiHis PathقُلْqulSayتَمَتَّعُواtamattaʿūEnjoyفَإِنَّfa-innabut indeedمَصِيرَكُمْmaṣīrakumyour destinationإِلَىilā(is) toالنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
  31. 31قُلْqulSayلِعِبَادِيَliʿibādiyato My slavesالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveيُقِيمُواyuqīmū(to) establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayersوَيُنْفِقُواwayunfiqūand (to) spendمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatرَزَقْنَاهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided themسِرًّاsirransecretlyوَعَلَانِيَةًwaʿalāniyatanand publiclyمِنْminbeforeقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]يَأْتِيَyatiyacomesيَوْمٌyawmuna Dayلَاnotبَيْعٌbayʿunany tradeفِيهِfīhiin itوَلَاwalāand notخِلَالٌkhilālunany friendship
  32. 32اللَّهُal-lahuAllahالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaand sent downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَخْرَجَfa-akhrajathen brought forthبِهِbihifrom itمِنَminaofالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarātithe fruitsرِزْقًاriz'qan(as) a provisionلَكُمْlakumfor youوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand subjectedلَكُمُlakumufor youالْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe shipsلِتَجْرِيَlitajriyaso that they may sailفِيinالْبَحْرِl-baḥrithe seaبِأَمْرِهِbi-amrihiby His commandوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand subjectedلَكُمُlakumufor youالْأَنْهَارَl-anhārathe rivers
  33. 33وَسَخَّرَwasakharaAnd He subjectedلَكُمُlakumufor youالشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonدَائِبَيْنِdāibayniboth constantly pursuing their coursesوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand subjectedلَكُمُlakumufor youاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightوَالنَّهَارَwal-nahāraand the day
  34. 34وَءَاتَاكُمْwaātākumAnd He gave youمِنْminofكُلِّkulliallمَاwhatسَأَلْتُمُوهُsa-altumūhuyou asked of Himوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَعُدُّواtaʿuddūyou countنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favor of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) Favor of Allahلَاnotتُحْصُوهَاtuḥ'ṣūhāyou will (be able to) count themإِنَّinnaIndeedالْإِنْسَانَl-insānathe mankindلَظَلُومٌlaẓalūmun(is) surely unjustكَفَّارٌkaffārun(and) ungrateful
  35. 35وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqālasaidإِبْرَاهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahimرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!اجْعَلْij'ʿalMakeهَذَاhādhāthisالْبَلَدَl-baladacityءَامِنًاāminansafeوَاجْنُبْنِيwa-uj'nub'nīand keep me awayوَبَنِيَّwabaniyyaand my sonsأَنْanthatنَعْبُدَnaʿbudawe worshipالْأَصْنَامَl-aṣnāmathe idols
  36. 36رَبِّrabbiMy Lord!إِنَّهُنَّinnahunnaIndeed theyأَضْلَلْنَaḍlalnahave led astrayكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنَminaamongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindفَمَنْfamanSo whoeverتَبِعَنِيtabiʿanīfollows meفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed heمِنِّيminnī(is) of meوَمَنْwamanand whoeverعَصَانِيʿaṣānīdisobeys meفَإِنَّكَfa-innakathen indeed Youغَفُورٌghafūrun(are) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  37. 37رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur LordإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iأَسْكَنْتُaskantu[I] have settledمِنْmin(some) ofذُرِّيَّتِيdhurriyyatīmy offspringsبِوَادٍbiwādinin a valleyغَيْرِghayrinotذِيdhīwithزَرْعٍzarʿincultivationعِنْدَʿindanearبَيْتِكَbaytikaYour Sacred Houseالْمُحَرَّمِl-muḥaramiYour Sacred Houseرَبَّنَاrabbanāour LordلِيُقِيمُواliyuqīmūThat they may establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayersفَاجْعَلْfa-ij'ʿalSo makeأَفْئِدَةًafidatanheartsمِنَminaofالنَّاسِl-nāsithe menتَهْوِيtahwīinclineإِلَيْهِمْilayhimtowards themوَارْزُقْهُمْwa-ur'zuq'humand provide themمِنَminawithالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarātithe fruitsلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnabe grateful
  38. 38رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouتَعْلَمُtaʿlamuYou knowمَاwhatنُخْفِيnukh'fīwe concealوَمَاwamāand whatنُعْلِنُnuʿ'linuwe proclaimوَمَاwamāAnd notيَخْفَىyakhfā(is) hiddenعَلَىʿalāfromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notفِيinالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heaven
  39. 39الْحَمْدُal-ḥamduAll the Praiseلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoوَهَبَwahabahas grantedلِيmeعَلَىʿalāinالْكِبَرِl-kibarithe old ageإِسْمَاعِيلَis'māʿīlaIsmailوَإِسْحَاقَwa-is'ḥāqaand IshaqإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordلَسَمِيعُlasamīʿu(is) All-Hearerالدُّعَاءِl-duʿāi(of) the prayer
  40. 40رَبِّrabbiMy Lord!اجْعَلْنِيij'ʿalnīMake meمُقِيمَmuqīmaan establisherالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalati(of) the prayerوَمِنْwaminand fromذُرِّيَّتِيdhurriyyatīmy offspringsرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!وَتَقَبَّلْwataqabbaland acceptدُعَاءِduʿāimy prayer
  41. 41رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!اغْفِرْigh'firForgiveلِيmeوَلِوَالِدَيَّwaliwālidayyaand my parentsوَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَwalil'mu'minīnaand the believersيَوْمَyawma(on) the Dayيَقُومُyaqūmuwill (be) establishedالْحِسَابُl-ḥisābuthe account
  42. 42وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkاللَّهَl-laha(that) Allahغَافِلًاghāfilan(is) unawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatيَعْمَلُyaʿmaludoالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoersإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيُؤَخِّرُهُمْyu-akhiruhumHe gives them respiteلِيَوْمٍliyawminto a Dayتَشْخَصُtashkhaṣuwill stareفِيهِfīhiin itالْأَبْصَارُl-abṣāruthe eyes
  43. 43مُهْطِعِينَmuh'ṭiʿīnaRacing aheadمُقْنِعِيmuq'niʿīraised upرُءُوسِهِمْruūsihimtheir headsلَاnotيَرْتَدُّyartaddureturningإِلَيْهِمْilayhimtowards themطَرْفُهُمْṭarfuhumtheir gazeوَأَفْئِدَتُهُمْwa-afidatuhumand their heartsهَوَاءٌhawāon(are) empty
  44. 44وَأَنْذِرِwa-andhiriAnd warnالنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindيَوْمَyawma(of) a Dayيَأْتِيهِمُyatīhimu(when) will come to themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentفَيَقُولُfayaqūluthen will sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūdid wrongرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordأَخِّرْنَاakhir'nāRespite usإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termقَرِيبٍqarībinshortنُجِبْnujibwe will answerدَعْوَتَكَdaʿwatakaYour callوَنَتَّبِعِwanattabiʿiand we will followالرُّسُلَl-rusulathe MessengersأَوَلَمْawalamHad notتَكُونُواtakūnūyouأَقْسَمْتُمْaqsamtumswornمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeمَاnotلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyزَوَالٍzawālinend
  45. 45وَسَكَنْتُمْwasakantumAnd you dweltفِيinمَسَاكِنِmasākinithe dwellingsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesوَتَبَيَّنَwatabayyanaand it had become clearلَكُمْlakumto youكَيْفَkayfahowفَعَلْنَاfaʿalnāWe dealtبِهِمْbihimwith themوَضَرَبْنَاwaḍarabnāand We put forthلَكُمُlakumufor youالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe examples
  46. 46وَقَدْwaqadAnd indeedمَكَرُواmakarūthey plannedمَكْرَهُمْmakrahumtheir planوَعِنْدَwaʿindabut withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَكْرُهُمْmakruhum(was) their planوَإِنْwa-ineven ifكَانَkānawasمَكْرُهُمْmakruhumtheir planلِتَزُولَlitazūlathat should be movedمِنْهُmin'huby itالْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountains
  47. 47فَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkاللَّهَl-laha(that) Allahمُخْلِفَmukh'lifawill failوَعْدِهِwaʿdihi(to) keep His Promiseرُسُلَهُrusulahu(to) His MessengersإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-MightyذُوdhūOwner (of) RetributionانْتِقَامٍintiqāminOwner (of) Retribution
  48. 48يَوْمَyawma(On the) Dayتُبَدَّلُtubaddaluwill be changedالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthغَيْرَghayra(to) other (than)الْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَالسَّمَاوَاتُwal-samāwātuand the heavensوَبَرَزُواwabarazūand they will come forthلِلَّهِlillahibefore Allahالْوَاحِدِl-wāḥidithe Oneالْقَهَّارِl-qahārithe Irresistible
  49. 49وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you will seeالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminalsيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(on) that Dayمُقَرَّنِينَmuqarranīnabound togetherفِيinالْأَصْفَادِl-aṣfādithe chains
  50. 50سَرَابِيلُهُمْsarābīluhumTheir garmentsمِنْminofقَطِرَانٍqaṭirānintarوَتَغْشَىwataghshāand will coverوُجُوهَهُمُwujūhahumutheir facesالنَّارُl-nāruthe Fire
  51. 51لِيَجْزِيَliyajziyaSo that Allah may recompenseاللَّهُl-lahuSo that Allah may recompenseكُلَّkullaeachنَفْسٍnafsinsoulمَا(for) whatكَسَبَتْkasabatit earnedإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) Swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in) the reckoning
  52. 52هَذَاhādhāThisبَلَاغٌbalāghun(is) a Messageلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindوَلِيُنْذَرُواwaliyundharūthat they may be warnedبِهِbihiwith itوَلِيَعْلَمُواwaliyaʿlamūand that they may knowأَنَّمَاannamāthat onlyهُوَhuwaHeإِلَهٌilāhun(is) One Godوَاحِدٌwāḥidun(is) One Godوَلِيَذَّكَّرَwaliyadhakkaraand that may take heedأُولُواulūmenالْأَلْبَابِl-albābi(of) understanding
