Surah 13 — Ar-Ra'd

1. 1الٓمٓرalif-lam-meem-raAlif Laam Mim Raتِلْكَtil'kaTheseءَايَاتُāyātu(are) the Versesالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookوَالَّذِيwa-alladhīAnd that whichأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the mankindلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
2. 2اللَّهُal-lahuAllahالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoرَفَعَrafaʿaraisedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعَمَدٍʿamadinpillarsتَرَوْنَهَاtarawnahāthat you seeثُمَّthummathenاسْتَوَىis'tawāHe establishedعَلَىʿalāonالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throneوَسَخَّرَwasakharaand subjectedالشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonكُلٌّkulluneachيَجْرِيyajrīrunningلِأَجَلٍli-ajalinfor a termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedيُدَبِّرُyudabbiruHe arrangesالْأَمْرَl-amrathe matterيُفَصِّلُyufaṣṣiluHe detailsالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayبِلِقَاءِbiliqāiin the meetingرَبِّكُمْrabbikum(with) your Lordتُوقِنُونَtūqinūnabelieve with certainty
3. 3وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoمَدَّmaddaspreadالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand placedفِيهَاfīhāin itرَوَاسِيَrawāsiyafirm mountainsوَأَنْهَارًاwa-anhāranand riversوَمِنْwaminand fromكُلِّkulliallالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarāti(of) the fruitsجَعَلَjaʿalaHe madeفِيهَاfīhāin itزَوْجَيْنِzawjaynipairsاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoيُغْشِيyugh'shīHe coversاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightالنَّهَارَl-nahāra(with) the dayإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnawho ponder
4. 4وَفِيwafīAnd inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthقِطَعٌqiṭaʿunare tracksمُتَجَاوِرَاتٌmutajāwirātunneighboringوَجَنَّاتٌwajannātunand gardensمِنْminofأَعْنَابٍaʿnābingrapevinesوَزَرْعٌwazarʿunand cropsوَنَخِيلٌwanakhīlunand date-palmsصِنْوَانٌṣin'wānuntrees (growing) from a single rootوَغَيْرُwaghayruand notصِنْوَانٍṣin'wānintrees (growing) from a single rootيُسْقَىyus'qāwateredبِمَاءٍbimāinwith waterوَاحِدٍwāḥidinoneوَنُفَضِّلُwanufaḍḍilubut We cause to exceedبَعْضَهَاbaʿḍahāsome of themعَلَىʿalāoverبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersفِيfīinالْأُكُلِl-ukulithe fruitإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātinsurely (are) Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnawho use reason
5. 5وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَعْجَبْtaʿjabyou (are) astonishedفَعَجَبٌfaʿajabunthen astonishingقَوْلُهُمْqawluhum(is) their sayingأَءِذَاa-idhāWhenكُنَّاkunnāwe areتُرَابًاturābandustأَءِنَّاa-innāwill weلَفِيlafī(be) indeed inخَلْقٍkhalqina creationجَدِيدٍjadīdinnewأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimin their Lordوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseالْأَغْلَالُl-aghlāluthe iron chainsفِيfī(will be) inأَعْنَاقِهِمْaʿnāqihimtheir necksوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
6. 6وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَwayastaʿjilūnakaAnd they ask you to hastenبِالسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atithe evilقَبْلَqablabeforeالْحَسَنَةِl-ḥasanatithe goodوَقَدْwaqadand verilyخَلَتْkhalathas occurredمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِمُqablihimubefore themالْمَثُلَاتُl-mathulātu[the] similar punishmentsوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَذُوladhū(is) fullمَغْفِرَةٍmaghfiratin(of) forgivenessلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankindعَلَىʿalāforظُلْمِهِمْẓul'mihimtheir wrongdoingوَإِنَّwa-innaand indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَشَدِيدُlashadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) the penalty
7. 7وَيَقُولُwayaqūluAnd sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notأُنْزِلَunzilahas been sent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himءَايَةٌāyatuna signمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنْتَantayouمُنْذِرٌmundhirun(are) a warnerوَلِكُلِّwalikulliand for everyقَوْمٍqawminpeopleهَادٍhādin(is) a guide
8. 8اللَّهُal-lahuAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتَحْمِلُtaḥmilucarriesكُلُّkullueveryأُنْثَىunthāfemaleوَمَاwamāand whatتَغِيضُtaghīḍufall shortالْأَرْحَامُl-arḥāmuthe wombوَمَاwamāand whatتَزْدَادُtazdāduthey exceedوَكُلُّwakulluAnd everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith Himبِمِقْدَارٍbimiq'dārin(is) in due proportion
9. 9عَالِمُʿālimuKnowerالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَالشَّهَادَةِwal-shahādatiand the witnessedالْكَبِيرُl-kabīruthe Most Greatالْمُتَعَالِl-mutaʿālithe Most High
10. 10سَوَاءٌsawāon(It is) same (to Him)مِنْكُمْminkum[of you]مَنْman(one) whoأَسَرَّasarraconcealsالْقَوْلَl-qawlathe speechوَمَنْwamanor (one) whoجَهَرَjaharapublicizesبِهِbihiitوَمَنْwamanand (one) whoهُوَhuwa[he]مُسْتَخْفٍmus'takhfin(is) hiddenبِاللَّيْلِbi-al-layliby nightوَسَارِبٌwasāribunor goes freelyبِالنَّهَارِbil-nahāriby day
11. 11لَهُlahuFor himمُعَقِّبَاتٌmuʿaqqibātun(are) successive (Angels)مِنْminfromبَيْنِbayni(before)يَدَيْهِyadayhi(him)وَمِنْwaminand fromخَلْفِهِkhalfihiand behind himيَحْفَظُونَهُyaḥfaẓūnahuwho guard himمِنْminbyأَمْرِamri(the) commandاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُغَيِّرُyughayyiruchangeمَاmā(the condition)بِقَوْمٍbiqawminof a peopleحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُغَيِّرُواyughayyirūthey changeمَاmāwhatبِأَنْفُسِهِمْbi-anfusihim(is) in themselvesوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenأَرَادَarādawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِقَوْمٍbiqawminfor a peopleسُوءًاsūanmisfortuneفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noمَرَدَّmaraddaturning awayلَهُlahuof itوَمَاwamāand notلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْminfromدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himمِنْminanyوَالٍwālinprotector
12. 12هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoيُرِيكُمُyurīkumushows youالْبَرْقَl-barqathe lightningخَوْفًاkhawfana fearوَطَمَعًاwaṭamaʿanand a hopeوَيُنْشِئُwayunshi-uand brings upالسَّحَابَl-saḥābathe cloudsالثِّقَالَl-thiqālathe heavy
13. 13وَيُسَبِّحُwayusabbiḥuAnd glorifiesالرَّعْدُl-raʿduthe thunderبِحَمْدِهِbiḥamdihi[with] His praiseوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuand the Angelsمِنْminforخِيفَتِهِkhīfatihifear of Himوَيُرْسِلُwayur'siluAnd He sendsالصَّوَاعِقَl-ṣawāʿiqathe thunderboltsفَيُصِيبُfayuṣībuand strikesبِهَاbihāwith itمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَهُمْwahumyet theyيُجَادِلُونَyujādilūnadisputeفِيfīaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) Mightyالْمِحَالِl-miḥāli(in) Strength
14. 14لَهُlahuTo Himدَعْوَةُdaʿwatu(is) supplicationالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi(of) the truthوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whomيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminbesides Himدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himلَاlānotيَسْتَجِيبُونَyastajībūnathey respondلَهُمْlahumto themبِشَيْءٍbishayinwith a thingإِلَّاillāexceptكَبَاسِطِkabāsiṭilike one who stretchesكَفَّيْهِkaffayhihis handsإِلَىilātowardsالْمَاءِl-māiwaterلِيَبْلُغَliyablughato reachفَاهُfāhuhis mouthوَمَاwamābut notهُوَhuwaitبِبَالِغِهِbibālighihireaches itوَمَاwamāAnd notدُعَاءُduʿāu(is) the supplicationالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelieversإِلَّاillābutفِيfīinضَلَالٍḍalālinerror
15. 15وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allahيَسْجُدُyasjuduprostratesمَنْmanwhoeverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthطَوْعًاṭawʿanwillinglyوَكَرْهًاwakarhanor unwillinglyوَظِلَالُهُمْwaẓilāluhumand (so do) their shadowsبِالْغُدُوِّbil-ghuduwiin the morningsوَالْءَاصَالِwal-āṣāliand in the afternoons
16. 16قُلْqulSayمَنْmanWhoرَبُّrabbu(is) the Lordالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahقُلْqulSayأَفَاتَّخَذْتُمْafa-ittakhadhtumHave you then takenمِنْminfromدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaprotectorsلَاlānotيَمْلِكُونَyamlikūnathey have powerلِأَنْفُسِهِمْli-anfusihimfor themselvesنَفْعًاnafʿan(to) benefitوَلَاwalāand notضَرًّاḍarran(to) harmقُلْqulSayهَلْhalIsيَسْتَوِيyastawīequalالْأَعْمَىl-aʿmāthe blindوَالْبَصِيرُwal-baṣīruand the seeingأَمْamOrهَلْhalisتَسْتَوِيtastawīequalالظُّلُمَاتُl-ẓulumātuthe darkness[es]وَالنُّورُwal-nūruand the lightأَمْamOrجَعَلُواjaʿalūthey attributeلِلَّهِlillahito Allahشُرَكَاءَshurakāapartnersخَلَقُواkhalaqūwho createdكَخَلْقِهِkakhalqihilike His creationفَتَشَابَهَfatashābahaso that seemed alikeالْخَلْقُl-khalquthe creationعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahخَالِقُkhāliqu(is) the Creatorكُلِّkulliof allشَيْءٍshayinthingsوَهُوَwahuwaand Heالْوَاحِدُl-wāḥidu(is) the Oneالْقَهَّارُl-qahāruthe Irresistible
17. 17أَنْزَلَanzalaHe sends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَسَالَتْfasālatand flowsأَوْدِيَةٌawdiyatunthe valleysبِقَدَرِهَاbiqadarihāaccording to their measureفَاحْتَمَلَfa-iḥ'tamalaand carriesالسَّيْلُl-sayluthe torrentزَبَدًاzabadana foamرَابِيًاrābiyanrisingوَمِمَّاwamimmāAnd from whatيُوقِدُونَyūqidūnathey heatعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[on] itفِيfīinالنَّارِl-nārithe fireابْتِغَاءَib'tighāain order to makeحِلْيَةٍḥil'yatinornamentsأَوْaworمَتَاعٍmatāʿinutensilsزَبَدٌzabaduna foamمِثْلُهُmith'luhulike itكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيَضْرِبُyaḍribusets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَالْبَاطِلَwal-bāṭilaand the falsehoodفَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forالزَّبَدُl-zabaduthe foamفَيَذْهَبُfayadhhabuit passes awayجُفَاءًjufāan(as) scumوَأَمَّاwa-ammāand as forمَاmāwhatيَنْفَعُyanfaʿubenefitsالنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindفَيَمْكُثُfayamkuthuremainsفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيَضْرِبُyaḍribuAllah sets forthاللَّهُl-lahuAllah sets forthالْأَمْثَالَl-amthālathe examples
18. 18لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those whoاسْتَجَابُواis'tajābūrespondedلِرَبِّهِمُlirabbihimuto their Lordالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nā(is) the blissوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd for those whoلَمْlam(did) notيَسْتَجِيبُواyastajībūrespondلَهُlahuto Himلَوْlawifأَنَّannathatلَهُمْlahumthey hadمَاmāwhateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallوَمِثْلَهُwamith'lahuand like of itمَعَهُmaʿahuwith itلَافْتَدَوْاla-if'tadawsurely they would offer ransomبِهِbihiwith itأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseلَهُمْlahumfor themسُوءُsūu(is) a terribleالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābireckoningوَمَأْوَاهُمْwamawāhumand their abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hellوَبِئْسَwabi'saand wretchedالْمِهَادُl-mihādu(is) the resting place
19. 19أَفَمَنْafamanThen is (he) whoيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsأَنَّمَاannamāthat whichأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthكَمَنْkamanlike (one) whoهُوَhuwa[he]أَعْمَىaʿmā(is) blindإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَتَذَكَّرُyatadhakkarupay heedأُولُواulūmenالْأَلْبَابِl-albābi(of) understanding
20. 20الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُوفُونَyūfūnafulfillبِعَهْدِbiʿahdithe covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand notيَنْقُضُونَyanquḍūnathey breakالْمِيثَاقَl-mīthāqathe contract
21. 21وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيَصِلُونَyaṣilūnajoinمَاmāwhatأَمَرَamara(has been) commandedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahبِهِbihi[for it]أَنْantoيُوصَلَyūṣalabe joinedوَيَخْشَوْنَwayakhshawnaand fearرَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lordوَيَخَافُونَwayakhāfūnaand are afraidسُوءَsūa(of) the evilالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābithe account
22. 22وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientابْتِغَاءَib'tighāaseekingوَجْهِwajhi(the) Faceرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordوَأَقَامُواwa-aqāmūand establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَأَنْفَقُواwa-anfaqūand spendمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatرَزَقْنَاهُمْrazaqnāhumWe have provided themسِرًّاsirransecretlyوَعَلَانِيَةًwaʿalāniyatanand publiclyوَيَدْرَءُونَwayadraūnaand they repelبِالْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith the goodالسَّيِّئَةَl-sayi-atathe evilأُولَئِكَulāikathoseلَهُمْlahumfor themعُقْبَىʿuq'bā(is) the final attainmentالدَّارِl-dāri(of) the Home
23. 23جَنَّاتُjannātuGardensعَدْنٍʿadninof Edenيَدْخُلُونَهَاyadkhulūnahāthey will enter themوَمَنْwamanand whoeverصَلَحَṣalaḥa(were) righteousمِنْminamongءَابَائِهِمْābāihimtheir fathersوَأَزْوَاجِهِمْwa-azwājihimand their spousesوَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْwadhurriyyātihimand their offspringsوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuAnd the Angelsيَدْخُلُونَyadkhulūnawill enterعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryبَابٍbābingate
24. 24سَلَامٌsalāmun(Saying) Peaceعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum(be) upon youبِمَاbimāfor whatصَبَرْتُمْṣabartumyou patiently enduredفَنِعْمَfaniʿ'maAnd excellentعُقْبَىʿuq'bā(is) the final attainmentالدَّارِl-dāri(of) the Home
25. 25وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيَنْقُضُونَyanquḍūnabreakعَهْدَʿahdathe covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمِيثَاقِهِmīthāqihicontracting itوَيَقْطَعُونَwayaqṭaʿūnaand severمَاmāwhatأَمَرَamara(has been) commandedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahبِهِbihifor itأَنْantoيُوصَلَyūṣalabe joinedوَيُفْسِدُونَwayuf'sidūnaand spread corruptionفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseلَهُمُlahumufor themاللَّعْنَةُl-laʿnatu(is) the curseوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themسُوءُsūu(is) an evilالدَّارِl-dārihome
26. 26اللَّهُal-lahuAllahيَبْسُطُyabsuṭuextendsالرِّزْقَl-riz'qathe provisionلِمَنْlimanfor whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَقْدِرُwayaqdiruand restrictsوَفَرِحُواwafariḥūAnd they rejoiceبِالْحَيَوةِbil-ḥayatiin the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَمَاwamāand nothingالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatu(is) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāof the worldفِيfīin (comparison to)الْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterإِلَّاillāexceptمَتَاعٌmatāʿunan enjoyment
27. 27وَيَقُولُwayaqūluAnd sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلَوْلَاlawlāWhy has notأُنْزِلَunzilabeen sent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon himءَايَةٌāyatuna Signمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُضِلُّyuḍillulets go astrayمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَهْدِيwayahdīand guidesإِلَيْهِilayhito Himselfمَنْmanwhoeverأَنَابَanābaturns back
28. 28الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَتَطْمَئِنُّwataṭma-innuand find satisfactionقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsبِذِكْرِbidhik'riin the remembranceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahأَلَاalāNo doubtبِذِكْرِbidhik'riin the remembranceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahتَطْمَئِنُّtaṭma-innufind satisfactionالْقُلُوبُl-qulūbuthe hearts
29. 29الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātirighteous deedsطُوبَىṭūbāblessednessلَهُمْlahum(is) for themوَحُسْنُwaḥus'nuand a beautifulمَءَابٍmaābinplace of return
30. 30كَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusأَرْسَلْنَاكَarsalnākaWe have sent youفِيfītoأُمَّةٍummatina nationقَدْqadverilyخَلَتْkhalathave passed awayمِنْminfromقَبْلِهَاqablihābefore itأُمَمٌumamunnationsلِتَتْلُوَاlitatluwāso that you might reciteعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuto themالَّذِيalladhīwhatأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieveبِالرَّحْمَنِbil-raḥmāniin the Most GraciousقُلْqulSayهُوَhuwaHeرَبِّيrabbī(is) my Lordلَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimعَلَيْهِʿalayhiUpon HimتَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltuI put my trustوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himمَتَابِmatābi(is) my return
31. 31وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّannathat wasقُرْءَانًاqur'ānanany Quranسُيِّرَتْsuyyiratcould be movedبِهِbihiby itالْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountainsأَوْaworقُطِّعَتْquṭṭiʿatcould be cloven asunderبِهِbihiby itالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthأَوْaworكُلِّمَkullimacould be made to speakبِهِbihiby itالْمَوْتَىl-mawtāthe deadبَلْbalNayلِلَّهِlillahiwith Allahالْأَمْرُl-amru(is) the commandجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallأَفَلَمْafalamThen do notيَايْءَسِyāy'asiknowالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveأَنْanthatلَوْlawifيَشَاءُyashāuhad willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَهَدَىlahadāsurely, He would have guidedالنَّاسَl-nāsaallجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall of the mankindوَلَاwalāAnd notيَزَالُyazāluwill ceaseالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveتُصِيبُهُمْtuṣībuhumto strike themبِمَاbimāfor whatصَنَعُواṣanaʿūthey didقَارِعَةٌqāriʿatuna disasterأَوْaworتَحُلُّtaḥulluit settlesقَرِيبًاqarībancloseمِنْminfromدَارِهِمْdārihimtheir homesحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَأْتِيَyatiyacomesوَعْدُwaʿdu(the) promiseاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(will) notيُخْلِفُyukh'lifufailالْمِيعَادَl-mīʿāda(in) the Promise
32. 32وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd certainlyاسْتُهْزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mockedبِرُسُلٍbirusulinMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَأَمْلَيْتُfa-amlaytubut I granted respiteلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedثُمَّthummathenأَخَذْتُهُمْakhadhtuhumI seized themفَكَيْفَfakayfaand howكَانَkānawasعِقَابِʿiqābiMy penalty
33. 33أَفَمَنْafamanIs then He Whoهُوَhuwa(He)قَائِمٌqāimun(is) a Maintainerعَلَىʿalāofكُلِّkullieveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبَتْkasabatit has earnedوَجَعَلُواwajaʿalūYet they ascribeلِلَّهِlillahito AllahشُرَكَاءَshurakāapartnersقُلْqulSayسَمُّوهُمْsammūhumName themأَمْamOrتُنَبِّئُونَهُtunabbiūnahu(do) you inform Himبِمَاbimāof whatلَاlānotيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأَمْamorبِظَاهِرٍbiẓāhirinof the apparentمِنَminaofالْقَوْلِl-qawlithe wordsبَلْbalNayزُيِّنَzuyyina(is) made fair-seemingلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveمَكْرُهُمْmakruhumtheir plottingوَصُدُّواwaṣuddūand they are hinderedعَنِʿanifromالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe PathوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُضْلِلِyuḍ'lili(by) Allahاللَّهُl-lahuAllah lets go astrayفَمَاfamāthen notلَهُlahufor himمِنْminanyهَادٍhādinguide
34. 34لَهُمْlahumFor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentفِيfīinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَلَعَذَابُwalaʿadhābuand surely the punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterأَشَقُّashaqqu(is) harderوَمَاwamāAnd notلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمِنْminanyوَاقٍwāqindefender
35. 35مَثَلُmathaluThe exampleالْجَنَّةِl-janatiof Paradiseالَّتِيallatīwhichوُعِدَwuʿida(is) promisedالْمُتَّقُونَl-mutaqūna(to) the righteousتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversأُكُلُهَاukuluhāIts foodدَائِمٌdāimun(is) everlastingوَظِلُّهَاwaẓilluhāand its shadeتِلْكَtil'kaThisعُقْبَىʿuq'bā(is the) endالَّذِينَalladhīnaof those whoاتَّقَوْاittaqaw(are) righteousوَعُقْبَىwaʿuq'bāand (the) endالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelieversالنَّارُl-nāru(is) the Fire
36. 36وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those (to) whomءَاتَيْنَاهُمُātaynāhumuWe have given themالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيَفْرَحُونَyafraḥūnarejoiceبِمَاbimāat whatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمِنَwaminabut amongالْأَحْزَابِl-aḥzābithe groupsمَنْman(those) whoيُنْكِرُyunkirudenyبَعْضَهُbaʿḍahua part of itقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأُمِرْتُumir'tuI have been commandedأَنْanthatأَعْبُدَaʿbudaI worshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāand notأُشْرِكَush'rikaI associate partnersبِهِbihiwith HimإِلَيْهِilayhiTo HimأَدْعُواadʿūI callوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himمَءَابِmaābi(is) my return
37. 37وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed itحُكْمًاḥuk'man(to be) a judgment of authorityعَرَبِيًّاʿarabiyyan(in) Arabicوَلَئِنِwala-iniAnd ifاتَّبَعْتَittabaʿtayou followأَهْوَاءَهُمْahwāahumtheir desiresبَعْدَمَاbaʿdamāafter whatجَاءَكَjāakacame to youمِنَminaofالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mithe knowledgeمَاmānotلَكَlakafor youمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمِنْminanyوَلِيٍّwaliyyinprotectorوَلَاwalāand notوَاقٍwāqindefender
38. 38وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentرُسُلًاrusulanMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeلَهُمْlahumfor themأَزْوَاجًاazwājanwivesوَذُرِّيَّةًwadhurriyyatanand offspringوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawasلِرَسُولٍlirasūlinfor a Messengerأَنْanthatيَأْتِيَyatiyahe comesبِءَايَةٍbiāyatinwith a signإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby the leaveاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahلِكُلِّlikulliFor everythingأَجَلٍajalin(is) a timeكِتَابٌkitābunprescribed
39. 39يَمْحُواyamḥū(Is) eliminatedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahمَاmāwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيُثْبِتُwayuth'bituand confirmsوَعِنْدَهُwaʿindahuand with Himأُمُّummu(is) the Mother (of) the Bookالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(is) the Mother (of) the Book
40. 40وَإِنْwa-inAnd whetherمَاmā(what)نُرِيَنَّكَnuriyannakaWe show youبَعْضَbaʿḍaa partالَّذِيalladhī(of) whatنَعِدُهُمْnaʿiduhumWe have promised themأَوْaworنَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَnatawaffayannakaWe cause you to dieفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāso onlyعَلَيْكَʿalaykaon youالْبَلَاغُl-balāghu(is) the conveyanceوَعَلَيْنَاwaʿalaynāand on Usالْحِسَابُl-ḥisābu(is) the reckoning
41. 41أَوَلَمْawalamDid notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّاannāthat Weنَأْتِيnatīcomeالْأَرْضَl-arḍa(to) the landنَنْقُصُهَاnanquṣuhāreducing itمِنْminfromأَطْرَافِهَاaṭrāfihāits bordersوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَحْكُمُyaḥkumujudgesلَاlā(there is) noمُعَقِّبَmuʿaqqibaadjusterلِحُكْمِهِliḥuk'mihi(of) His JudgmentوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) Swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in) the reckoning
42. 42وَقَدْwaqadAnd certainlyمَكَرَmakaraplottedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were) fromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themفَلِلَّهِfalillahibut for Allahالْمَكْرُl-makru(is) the plotجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatتَكْسِبُtaksibuearnsكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulوَسَيَعْلَمُwasayaʿlamuand will knowالْكُفَّارُl-kufāruthe disbelieversلِمَنْlimanfor whomعُقْبَىʿuq'bā(is) the finalالدَّارِl-dārithe home
43. 43وَيَقُولُwayaqūluAnd sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveلَسْتَlastaYou are notمُرْسَلًاmur'salana MessengerقُلْqulSayكَفَىkafāSufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahi(is) Allahشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a Witnessبَيْنِيbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youوَمَنْwamanand whoeverعِنْدَهُʿindahu[he] hasعِلْمُʿil'muknowledgeالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Book
