Surah 11 — Hud

1. 1الٓرalif-lam-raAlif Lam Raكِتَابٌkitābun(This is) a Bookأُحْكِمَتْuḥ'kimatare perfectedءَايَاتُهُāyātuhuits Versesثُمَّthummamoreoverفُصِّلَتْfuṣṣilatexplained in detailمِنْminfrom (the One Who)لَدُنْladun(from) the One Whoحَكِيمٍḥakīmin(is) All-WiseخَبِيرٍkhabīrinAll-Aware
2. 2أَلَّاallāThat Notتَعْبُدُواtaʿbudūyou worshipإِلَّاillābutاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّنِيinnanīIndeed I amلَكُمْlakumto youمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerوَبَشِيرٌwabashīrunand a bearer of glad tidings
3. 3وَأَنِwa-aniAnd thatاسْتَغْفِرُواis'taghfirūSeek forgivenessرَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lordثُمَّthummaandتُوبُواtūbūturn in repentanceإِلَيْهِilayhito Himيُمَتِّعْكُمْyumattiʿ'kumHe will let youمَتَاعًاmatāʿanenjoyحَسَنًاḥasanana goodإِلَىilāforأَجَلٍajalina termمُسَمًّىmusammanappointedوَيُؤْتِwayu'tiAnd giveكُلَّkulla(to) everyذِيdhīownerفَضْلٍfaḍlin(of) graceفَضْلَهُfaḍlahuHis Graceوَإِنْwa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawyou turn awayفَإِنِّيfa-innīthen indeed, Iأَخَافُakhāfufearعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Great Dayكَبِيرٍkabīrin(of) a Great Day
4. 4إِلَىilāToاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your returnوَهُوَwahuwaand Heعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
5. 5أَلَاalāNo doubt!إِنَّهُمْinnahumTheyيَثْنُونَyathnūnafold upصُدُورَهُمْṣudūrahumtheir breastsلِيَسْتَخْفُواliyastakhfūthat they may hideمِنْهُmin'hufrom HimأَلَاalāSurelyحِينَḥīnawhenيَسْتَغْشُونَyastaghshūnathey cover (themselves)ثِيَابَهُمْthiyābahum(with) their garmentsيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsمَاmāwhatيُسِرُّونَyusirrūnathey concealوَمَاwamāand whatيُعْلِنُونَyuʿ'linūnathey revealإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowerبِذَاتِbidhātiof whatالصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts
6. 6وَمَاwamāAnd notمِنْminanyدَابَّةٍdābbatinmoving creatureفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthإِلَّاillābutعَلَىʿalāonاللَّهِl-lahiAllahرِزْقُهَاriz'quhā(is) its provisionوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuAnd He knowsمُسْتَقَرَّهَاmus'taqarrahāits dwelling placeوَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَاwamus'tawdaʿahāand its place of storageكُلٌّkullunAllفِيfī(is) inكِتَابٍkitābina Recordمُبِينٍmubīninclear
7. 7وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthفِيfīinسِتَّةِsittatisixأَيَّامٍayyāminepochsوَكَانَwakānaand His throne wasعَرْشُهُʿarshuhuand His throne wasعَلَىʿalāonالْمَاءِl-māithe waterلِيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumthat He might test [you]أَيُّكُمْayyukumwhich of youأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) bestعَمَلًاʿamalan(in) deedوَلَئِنْwala-inBut ifقُلْتَqul'tayou sayإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youمَبْعُوثُونَmabʿūthūna(will be) resurrectedمِنْminafterبَعْدِbaʿdiafterالْمَوْتِl-mawti[the] deathلَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannasurely would sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedإِنْinThis is notهَذَاhādhāThis is notإِلَّاillābutسِحْرٌsiḥ'runa magicمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
8. 8وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifأَخَّرْنَاakharnāWe delayعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentإِلَىilāforأُمَّةٍummatina timeمَعْدُودَةٍmaʿdūdatindeterminedلَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnathey will surely sayمَاmāWhatيَحْبِسُهُyaḥbisuhudetains itأَلَاalāNo doubtيَوْمَyawma(On) the Dayيَأْتِيهِمْyatīhimit comes to themلَيْسَlaysanotمَصْرُوفًاmaṣrūfan(will be) avertedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَحَاقَwaḥāqaand will surroundبِهِمْbihimthemمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)بِهِbihimock at [it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock at [it]
9. 9وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifأَذَقْنَاadhaqnāWe give man a tasteالْإِنْسَانَl-insānaWe give man a tasteمِنَّاminnā(of) Mercy from Usرَحْمَةًraḥmatan(of) Mercy from UsثُمَّthummathenنَزَعْنَاهَاnazaʿnāhāWe withdraw itمِنْهُmin'hufrom himإِنَّهُinnahuindeed, heلَيَئُوسٌlayaūsun(is) despairingكَفُورٌkafūrun(and) ungrateful
10. 10وَلَئِنْwala-inBut ifأَذَقْنَاهُadhaqnāhuWe give him a tasteنَعْمَاءَnaʿmāa(of) favorبَعْدَbaʿdaafterضَرَّاءَḍarrāahardshipمَسَّتْهُmassathu(has) touched himلَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannasurely he will sayذَهَبَdhahabaHave goneالسَّيِّئَاتُl-sayiātuthe evilsعَنِّيʿannīfrom meإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heلَفَرِحٌlafariḥun(is) exultantفَخُورٌfakhūrun(and) boastful
11. 11إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoصَبَرُواṣabarū(are) patientوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe good deedsأُولَئِكَulāikathoseلَهُمْlahumfor themمَغْفِرَةٌmaghfiratun(will be) forgivenessوَأَجْرٌwa-ajrunand a rewardكَبِيرٌkabīrungreat
12. 12فَلَعَلَّكَfalaʿallakaThen possibly youتَارِكٌtārikun(may) give upبَعْضَbaʿḍaa partمَاmā(of) whatيُوحَىyūḥāis revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَضَائِقٌwaḍāiqunand straitenedبِهِbihiby itصَدْرُكَṣadrukayour breastأَنْanbecauseيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey sayلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notأُنْزِلَunzilais sent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor himكَنْزٌkanzuna treasureأَوْaworجَاءَjāahas comeمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himمَلَكٌmalakunan AngelإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَنْتَantayouنَذِيرٌnadhīrun(are) a warnerوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingوَكِيلٌwakīluna Guardian
13. 13أَمْamOrيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayافْتَرَاهُif'tarāhuHe has fabricated itقُلْqulSayفَأْتُواfatūThen bringبِعَشْرِbiʿashritenسُوَرٍsuwarinwords_dataمِثْلِهِmith'lihilike itمُفْتَرَيَاتٍmuf'tarayātinfabricatedوَادْعُواwa-id'ʿūand callمَنِmaniwhoeverاسْتَطَعْتُمْis'taṭaʿtumyou canمِنْminbesides Allahدُونِdūnibesides Allahاللَّهِl-lahibesides Allahإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
14. 14فَإِلَّمْfa-illamThen if notيَسْتَجِيبُواyastajībūthey respondلَكُمْlakumto youفَاعْلَمُواfa-iʿ'lamūthen knowأَنَّمَاannamāthatأُنْزِلَunzilait was sent downبِعِلْمِbiʿil'miwith the knowledge of Allahاللَّهِl-lahiwith the knowledge of Allahوَأَنْwa-anand thatلَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimفَهَلْfahalThen, wouldأَنْتُمْantumyouمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(be) Muslims
15. 15مَنْmanWhoever [is]كَانَkānaWhoever [is]يُرِيدُyurīdudesiresالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَزِينَتَهَاwazīnatahāand its adornmentsنُوَفِّnuwaffiWe will repay in fullإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahum(for) their deedsفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَهُمْwahumand theyفِيهَاfīhāin itلَاlāwill not be lessenedيُبْخَسُونَyub'khasūnawill not be lessened
16. 16أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones whoلَيْسَlaysa(is) notلَهُمْlahumfor themفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterإِلَّاillāexceptالنَّارُl-nāruthe FireوَحَبِطَwaḥabiṭaAnd (has) gone in vainمَاmāwhatصَنَعُواṣanaʿūthey didفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَبَاطِلٌwabāṭilunand (is) worthlessمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
17. 17أَفَمَنْafamanThen is he whoكَانَkānaisعَلَىʿalāonبَيِّنَةٍbayyinatina clear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis Lordوَيَتْلُوهُwayatlūhuand recites itشَاهِدٌshāhiduna witnessمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himوَمِنْwaminand before itقَبْلِهِqablihiand before itكِتَابُkitābu(was) a Bookمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musaإِمَامًاimāman(as) a guideوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand (as) mercyأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِهِbihiin itوَمَنْwamanBut whoeverيَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelievesبِهِbihiin itمِنَminaamongالْأَحْزَابِl-aḥzābithe sectsفَالنَّارُfal-nāruthen the Fireمَوْعِدُهُmawʿiduhu(will be) his promised (meeting) placeفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَكُtakubeفِيfīinمِرْيَةٍmir'yatindoubtمِنْهُmin'huabout itإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, itالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
18. 18وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (he) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventsعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseيُعْرَضُونَyuʿ'raḍūnawill be presentedعَلَىʿalābeforeرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordوَيَقُولُwayaqūluand will sayالْأَشْهَادُl-ashhāduthe witnessesهَؤُلَاءِhāulāiThese (are)الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَذَبُواkadhabūliedعَلَىʿalāagainstرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordأَلَاalāNo doubtلَعْنَةُlaʿnatu(The) curse of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(The) curse of Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
19. 19الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَصُدُّونَyaṣuddūnahinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَيَبْغُونَهَاwayabghūnahāand seek (in) itعِوَجًاʿiwajancrookednessوَهُمْwahumwhile theyبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterهُمْhum[they]كَافِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
20. 20أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseلَمْlamnotيَكُونُواyakūnūwill beمُعْجِزِينَmuʿ'jizīna(able to) escapeفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānaisلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْminbesidesدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمِنْminanyأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaprotectorsيُضَاعَفُyuḍāʿafuAnd will be doubledلَهُمُlahumufor themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentمَاmāNotكَانُواkānūthey wereيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnaableالسَّمْعَl-samʿa(to) hearوَمَاwamāand notكَانُواkānūthey used (to)يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnasee
21. 21أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones whoخَسِرُواkhasirū(have) lostأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumtheir soulsوَضَلَّwaḍallaand lostعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themمَاmā(is) whatكَانُواkānūthey usedيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūna(to) invent
22. 22لَاlāNoجَرَمَjaramadoubtأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterهُمُhumu[they]الْأَخْسَرُونَl-akhsarūna(will be) the greatest losers
23. 23إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātigood deedsوَأَخْبَتُواwa-akhbatūand humble themselvesإِلَىilābeforeرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
24. 24مَثَلُmathalu(The) exampleالْفَرِيقَيْنِl-farīqayni(of) the two partiesكَالْأَعْمَىkal-aʿmā(is) like the blindوَالْأَصَمِّwal-aṣamiand the deafوَالْبَصِيرِwal-baṣīriand the seerوَالسَّمِيعِwal-samīʿiand the hearerهَلْhalAreيَسْتَوِيَانِyastawiyānithey equalمَثَلًاmathalan(in) comparisonأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed
25. 25وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentنُوحًاnūḥanNuhإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amلَكُمْlakumto youنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
26. 26أَنْanThatلَاlā(do) notتَعْبُدُواtaʿbudūworshipإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَخَافُakhāfu[I] fearعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a Dayأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
27. 27فَقَالَfaqālaSo saidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminfromقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleمَاmāNotنَرَاكَnarākawe see youإِلَّاillābutبَشَرًاbasharana manمِثْلَنَاmith'lanālike usوَمَاwamāand notنَرَاكَnarākawe see youاتَّبَعَكَittabaʿakafollowed [you]إِلَّاillāexceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهُمْhum[they]أَرَاذِلُنَاarādhilunā(are) the lowest of usبَادِيَbādiyaimmature in opinionالرَّأْيِl-rayiimmature in opinionوَمَاwamāAnd notنَرَىnarāwe seeلَكُمْlakumin youعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāover usمِنْminanyفَضْلٍfaḍlinmeritبَلْbalnayنَظُنُّكُمْnaẓunnukumwe think youكَاذِبِينَkādhibīna(are) liars
28. 28قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you seeإِنْinifكُنْتُkuntuI wasعَلَىʿalāonبَيِّنَةٍbayyinatin(the) clear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَءَاتَانِيwaātānīwhile He has given meرَحْمَةًraḥmatanmercyمِنْminfromعِنْدِهِʿindihiHimselfفَعُمِّيَتْfaʿummiyatbut (it) has been obscuredعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfrom youأَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَاanul'zimukumūhāshould We compel you (to accept) itوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile you (are)لَهَاlahāaverse to itكَارِهُونَkārihūnaaverse to it
29. 29وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!لَاlānotأَسْءَلُكُمْasalukumI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itمَالًاmālanany wealthإِنْinNotأَجْرِيَajriya(is) my rewardإِلَّاillāexceptعَلَىʿalāfromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāAnd notأَنَاanāI amبِطَارِدِbiṭāridigoing to drive awayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyمُلَاقُواmulāqū(will) be meetingرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordوَلَكِنِّيwalākinnībut Iأَرَاكُمْarākumsee youقَوْمًاqawman(are) a peopleتَجْهَلُونَtajhalūnaignorant
30. 30وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!مَنْmanWhoيَنْصُرُنِيyanṣurunīwould help meمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنْinifطَرَدْتُهُمْṭaradttuhumI drove them awayأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou take heed
31. 31وَلَاwalāAnd notأَقُولُaqūluI sayلَكُمْlakumto youعِنْدِيʿindī(that) with meخَزَائِنُkhazāinu(are the) treasuresاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand notأَعْلَمُaʿlamuI knowالْغَيْبَl-ghaybathe unseenوَلَاwalāand notأَقُولُaqūluI sayإِنِّيinnīthat I amمَلَكٌmalakunan Angelوَلَاwalāand notأَقُولُaqūluI sayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whomتَزْدَرِيtazdarīlook down uponأَعْيُنُكُمْaʿyunukumyour eyesلَنْlanneverيُؤْتِيَهُمُyu'tiyahumuwill Allah give themاللَّهُl-lahuwill Allah give themخَيْرًاkhayranany goodاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِمَاbimāwhatفِيfī(is) inأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimtheir soulsإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iإِذًاidhanthenلَمِنَlamina(will be) surely ofالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
32. 32قَالُواqālūThey saidيَانُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh!قَدْqadIndeedجَادَلْتَنَاjādaltanāyou disputed with usفَأَكْثَرْتَfa-akthartaand you (have been) frequentجِدَالَنَاjidālanā(in) dispute with usفَأْتِنَاfatināSo bring usبِمَاbimāwhatتَعِدُنَاtaʿidunāyou threaten us (with)إِنْinifكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
33. 33قَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَأْتِيكُمْyatīkumwill bring it (on) youبِهِbihiwill bring it (on) youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِنْinifشَاءَshāaHe willsوَمَاwamāand notأَنْتُمْantumyou (are)بِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnaone who (can) escape (it)
34. 34وَلَاwalāAnd (will) notيَنْفَعُكُمْyanfaʿukumbenefit youنُصْحِيnuṣ'ḥīmy adviceإِنْin(even) ifأَرَدْتُaradttuI wishأَنْantoأَنْصَحَanṣaḥa[I] adviseلَكُمْlakum[to] youإِنْinifكَانَkānaIt was (Allah's)اللَّهُl-lahu(It was) Allah'sيُرِيدُyurīduwillأَنْantoيُغْوِيَكُمْyugh'wiyakumlet you go astrayهُوَhuwaHe (is)رَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himتُرْجَعُونَtur'jaʿūnayou will be returned
35. 35أَمْamOrيَقُولُونَyaqūlūna(do) they sayافْتَرَاهُif'tarāhuHe has invented itقُلْqulSayإِنِiniIfافْتَرَيْتُهُif'taraytuhuI have invented itفَعَلَيَّfaʿalayyathen on meإِجْرَامِيij'rāmī(is) my crimeوَأَنَاwa-anābut I amبَرِيءٌbarīoninnocentمِمَّاmimmāof whatتُجْرِمُونَtuj'rimūnacrimes you commit
36. 36وَأُوحِيَwaūḥiyaAnd it was revealedإِلَىilātoنُوحٍnūḥinNuhأَنَّهُannahuThatلَنْlanwill neverيُؤْمِنَyu'minabelieveمِنْminfromقَوْمِكَqawmikayour peopleإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(those) whoقَدْqadhave alreadyءَامَنَāmanabelievedفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَبْتَئِسْtabta-is(be) distressedبِمَاbimāby whatكَانُواkānūthey have beenيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnadoing
37. 37وَاصْنَعِwa-iṣ'naʿiAnd constructالْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe shipبِأَعْيُنِنَاbi-aʿyunināunder Our Eyesوَوَحْيِنَاwawaḥyināand Our inspirationوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُخَاطِبْنِيtukhāṭib'nīaddress Meفِيfīconcerningالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedإِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed they (are)مُغْرَقُونَmugh'raqūnathe ones (to be) drowned
38. 38وَيَصْنَعُwayaṣnaʿuAnd he was constructingالْفُلْكَl-ful'kathe shipوَكُلَّمَاwakullamāand every timeمَرَّmarrapassedعَلَيْهِʿalayhiby himمَلَأٌmala-on(the) chiefsمِنْminofقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleسَخِرُواsakhirūthey ridiculedمِنْهُmin'hu[of] himقَالَqālaHe saidإِنْinIfتَسْخَرُواtaskharūyou ridiculeمِنَّاminnāusفَإِنَّاfa-innāthen weنَسْخَرُnaskharucan ridiculeمِنْكُمْminkumyouكَمَاkamāasتَسْخَرُونَtaskharūnayou ridicule
39. 39فَسَوْفَfasawfaAnd soonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will knowمَنْman(on) whomيَأْتِيهِyatīhiwill comeعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentيُخْزِيهِyukh'zīhi(that) will disgrace himوَيَحِلُّwayaḥilluand will descendعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentمُقِيمٌmuqīmunlasting
40. 40حَتَّىḥattāTillإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُنَاamrunāOur commandوَفَارَwafāraand overflowedالتَّنُّورُl-tanūruthe ovenقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidاحْمِلْiḥ'milLoadفِيهَاfīhāin itمِنْminofكُلٍّkullinevery kindزَوْجَيْنِzawjaynia pairاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoوَأَهْلَكَwa-ahlakaand your familyإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْmanwhoسَبَقَsabaqahas precededعَلَيْهِʿalayhiagainst himالْقَوْلُl-qawluthe wordوَمَنْwamanand whoeverءَامَنَāmanabelievedوَمَاwamāAnd notءَامَنَāmanabelievedمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلٌqalīluna few
41. 41وَقَالَwaqālaAnd he saidارْكَبُواir'kabūEmbarkفِيهَاfīhāin itبِسْمِbis'miin the nameاللَّهِl-lahiof Allahمَجْرِيهَاmajrahā(is) its courseوَمُرْسَاهَاwamur'sāhāand its anchorageإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun(is) certainly Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
42. 42وَهِيَwahiyaAnd itتَجْرِيtajrīsailedبِهِمْbihimwith themفِيfīonمَوْجٍmawjinthe wavesكَالْجِبَالِkal-jibālilike mountainsوَنَادَىwanādāand Nuh called outنُوحٌnūḥunand Nuh called outابْنَهُib'nahu(to) his sonوَكَانَwakānaand he wasفِيfī[in]مَعْزِلٍmaʿzilinapartيَابُنَيَّyābunayyaO my sonارْكَبْir'kabEmbarkمَعَنَاmaʿanāwith usوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَكُنْtakunbeمَعَmaʿawithالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
43. 43قَالَqālaHe saidسَءَاوِيsaāwīI will betake myselfإِلَىilātoجَبَلٍjabalina mountainيَعْصِمُنِيyaʿṣimunī(that) will save meمِنَminafromالْمَاءِl-māithe waterقَالَqālaHe saidلَاlā(There is) noعَاصِمَʿāṣimaprotectorالْيَوْمَl-yawmatodayمِنْminfromأَمْرِamrithe Command of Allahاللَّهِl-lahithe Command of Allahإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(on) whomرَحِمَraḥimaHe has mercyوَحَالَwaḥālaAnd cameبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(in) between themالْمَوْجُl-mawjuthe wavesفَكَانَfakānaso he wasمِنَminaamongالْمُغْرَقِينَl-mugh'raqīnathe drowned
44. 44وَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was saidيَاأَرْضُyāarḍuO earth!ابْلَعِيib'laʿīSwallowمَاءَكِmāakiyour waterوَيَاسَمَاءُwayāsamāuand O sky!أَقْلِعِيaqliʿīWithholdوَغِيضَwaghīḍaAnd subsidedالْمَاءُl-māuthe waterوَقُضِيَwaquḍiyaand was fulfilledالْأَمْرُl-amruthe Commandوَاسْتَوَتْwa-is'tawatAnd it restedعَلَىʿalāonالْجُودِيِّl-jūdiyithe JudiوَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was saidبُعْدًاbuʿ'danAwayلِلْقَوْمِlil'qawmiwith the peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
45. 45وَنَادَىwanādāAnd Nuh calledنُوحٌnūḥunAnd Nuh calledرَبَّهُrabbahu(to) his Lordفَقَالَfaqālaand saidرَبِّrabbiO my LordإِنَّinnaIndeedابْنِيib'nīmy sonمِنْmin(is) ofأَهْلِيahlīmy familyوَإِنَّwa-innaand indeedوَعْدَكَwaʿdakaYour promiseالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) trueوَأَنْتَwa-antaand Youأَحْكَمُaḥkamu(are) the Most Justالْحَاكِمِينَl-ḥākimīna(of) the judges
46. 46قَالَqālaHe saidيَانُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh!إِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heلَيْسَlaysa(is) notمِنْminofأَهْلِكَahlikayour familyإِنَّهُinnahuindeed [he]عَمَلٌʿamalun(his) deedغَيْرُghayru(is) other thanصَالِحٍṣāliḥinrighteousفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَسْءَلْنِtasalniask Meمَاmā(about) whatلَيْسَlaysanotلَكَlakayou haveبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munany knowledgeإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَعِظُكَaʿiẓukaadmonish youأَنْanlestتَكُونَtakūnayou beمِنَminaamongالْجَاهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
47. 47قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiO my Lord!إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَعُوذُaʿūdhuseek refugeبِكَbikain YouأَنْanthatأَسْءَلَكَasalakaI (should) ask YouمَاmāwhatلَيْسَlaysanotلِيlīI haveبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'munknowledgeوَإِلَّاwa-illāAnd unlessتَغْفِرْtaghfirYou forgiveلِيlīmeوَتَرْحَمْنِيwatarḥamnīand You have mercy on meأَكُنْakunI will beمِنَminaamongالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
48. 48قِيلَqīlaIt was saidيَانُوحُyānūḥuO Nuh!اهْبِطْih'biṭGo downبِسَلَامٍbisalāminwith peaceمِنَّاminnāfrom Usوَبَرَكَاتٍwabarakātinand blessingsعَلَيْكَʿalaykaon youوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onأُمَمٍumaminthe nationsمِمَّنْmimmanfrom thoseمَعَكَmaʿakawith youوَأُمَمٌwa-umamunBut (to other) nationsسَنُمَتِّعُهُمْsanumattiʿuhumWe will grant enjoymentثُمَّthummathenيَمَسُّهُمْyamassuhumwill touch themمِنَّاminnāfrom Usعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
49. 49تِلْكَtil'kaThisمِنْmin(is) fromأَنْبَاءِanbāithe newsالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenنُوحِيهَاnūḥīhā(which) We revealإِلَيْكَilaykato youمَاmāNotكُنْتَkuntayou wereتَعْلَمُهَاtaʿlamuhāknowing itأَنْتَantayouوَلَاwalāand notقَوْمُكَqawmukayour peopleمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeهَذَاhādhāthisفَاصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patientإِنَّinnaindeedالْعَاقِبَةَl-ʿāqibatathe endلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the God fearing
50. 50وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toعَادٍʿādinAadأَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brotherهُودًاhūdanHudقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاmānotلَكُمْlakum(is) for youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimإِنْinNotأَنْتُمْantumyouإِلَّاillā(are) butمُفْتَرُونَmuf'tarūnainventors
51. 51يَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!لَاlāNotأَسْءَلُكُمْasalukumI ask youعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itأَجْرًاajranany rewardإِنْinNotأَجْرِيَajriya(is) my rewardإِلَّاillāexceptعَلَىʿalāfromالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoفَطَرَنِيfaṭaranīcreated meأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use reason
52. 52وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!اسْتَغْفِرُواis'taghfirūAsk forgivenessرَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lordثُمَّthummathenتُوبُواtūbūturn in repentanceإِلَيْهِilayhito Himيُرْسِلِyur'siliHe will sendالسَّمَاءَl-samāa(from) the sky (rain)عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youمِدْرَارًاmid'rāran(in) abundanceوَيَزِدْكُمْwayazid'kumand increase youقُوَّةًquwwatan(in) strengthإِلَىilā(added) toقُوَّتِكُمْquwwatikumyour strengthوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَوَلَّوْاtatawallawturn awayمُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīna(as) criminals
53. 53قَالُواqālūThey saidيَاهُودُyāhūduO HudمَاmāYou have not brought usجِئْتَنَاji'tanāYou have not brought usبِبَيِّنَةٍbibayyinatinclear proofsوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuweبِتَارِكِيbitārikī(will) leaveءَالِهَتِنَاālihatināour godsعَنْʿanonقَوْلِكَqawlikayour sayingوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuwe (are)لَكَlakain youبِمُؤْمِنِينَbimu'minīnabelievers
54. 54إِنْinNotنَقُولُnaqūluwe sayإِلَّاillāexcept (that)اعْتَرَاكَiʿ'tarākahave seized youبَعْضُbaʿḍusomeءَالِهَتِنَاālihatinā(of) our godsبِسُوءٍbisūinwith evilقَالَqālaHe saidإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iأُشْهِدُush'hidu[I] call Allah to witnessاللَّهَl-laha[I] call Allah to witnessوَاشْهَدُواwa-ish'hadūand (you) bear witnessأَنِّيannīthat I amبَرِيءٌbarīoninnocentمِمَّاmimmāof whatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate
55. 55مِنْminOther than HimدُونِهِdūnihiOther than HimفَكِيدُونِيfakīdūnīSo plot against meجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall togetherثُمَّthummathenلَاlā(do) notتُنْظِرُونِtunẓirūnigive me respite
56. 56إِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iتَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltu[I] put my trustعَلَىʿalāuponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَرَبِّكُمْwarabbikumand your Lordمَاmā(There is) notمِنْminof a moving creatureدَابَّةٍdābbatinof a moving creatureإِلَّاillābutهُوَhuwaHeءَاخِذٌākhidhunhas graspبِنَاصِيَتِهَاbināṣiyatihāof its forelockإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordعَلَىʿalā(is) onصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
57. 57فَإِنْfa-inSo ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawyou turn awayفَقَدْfaqadthen verilyأَبْلَغْتُكُمْablaghtukumI have conveyed to youمَاmāwhatأُرْسِلْتُur'sil'tuI was sentبِهِbihiwith [it]إِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youوَيَسْتَخْلِفُwayastakhlifuAnd my Lord will give successionرَبِّيrabbīAnd my Lord will give successionقَوْمًاqawman(to) a peopleغَيْرَكُمْghayrakumother than youوَلَاwalāand notتَضُرُّونَهُtaḍurrūnahuyou will harm Himشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkulliallشَيْءٍshayinthingsحَفِيظٌḥafīẓuna Guardian
58. 58وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُنَاamrunāOur commandنَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe savedهُودًاhūdanHudوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himبِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinby a Mercyمِنَّاminnāfrom Usوَنَجَّيْنَاهُمْwanajjaynāhumand We saved themمِنْminfromعَذَابٍʿadhābina punishmentغَلِيظٍghalīẓinsevere
59. 59وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd thisعَادٌʿādun(was) Aadجَحَدُواjaḥadūthey rejectedبِءَايَاتِbiāyāti(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordوَعَصَوْاwaʿaṣawand disobeyedرُسُلَهُrusulahuHis Messengersوَاتَّبَعُواwa-ittabaʿūand followedأَمْرَamra(the) commandكُلِّkulli(of) everyجَبَّارٍjabbārintyrantعَنِيدٍʿanīdinobstinate
60. 60وَأُتْبِعُواwa-ut'biʿūAnd they were followedفِيfīinهَذِهِhādhihithisالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāworldلَعْنَةًlaʿnatan(with) a curseوَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the ResurrectionأَلَاalāNo doubt!إِنَّinnaIndeedعَادًاʿādanAadكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedرَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir LordأَلَاalāSoبُعْدًاbuʿ'danawayلِعَادٍliʿādinwith Aadقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleهُودٍhūdin(of) Hud
61. 61وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toثَمُودَthamūdaThamudأَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brotherصَالِحًاṣāliḥanSalihقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاmānotلَكُمْlakumyou haveمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimهُوَhuwaHeأَنْشَأَكُمْansha-akumproduced youمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْwa-is'taʿmarakumand settled youفِيهَاfīhāin itفَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُfa-is'taghfirūhuSo ask forgiveness of Himثُمَّthummathenتُوبُواtūbūturn in repentanceإِلَيْهِilayhito HimإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordقَرِيبٌqarībun(is) nearمُجِيبٌmujībunAll-Responsive
62. 62قَالُواqālūThey saidيَاصَالِحُyāṣāliḥuO SalihقَدْqadVerilyكُنْتَkuntayou wereفِينَاfīnāamong usمَرْجُوًّاmarjuwwanthe one in whom hope was placedقَبْلَqablabeforeهَذَاhādhāthisأَتَنْهَانَاatanhānāDo you forbid usأَنْanthatنَعْبُدَnaʿbudawe worshipمَاmāwhatيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduour forefathers worshippedءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathers worshippedوَإِنَّنَاwa-innanāAnd indeed weلَفِيlafīsurely (are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِمَّاmimmāabout whatتَدْعُونَاtadʿūnāyou call usإِلَيْهِilayhito itمُرِيبٍmurībinsuspicious
63. 63قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!أَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you seeإِنْinifكُنْتُkuntuI amعَلَىʿalāonبَيِّنَةٍbayyinatina clear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَءَاتَانِيwaātānīand He has given meمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himرَحْمَةًraḥmatana Mercyفَمَنْfamanthen whoيَنْصُرُنِيyanṣurunī(can) help meمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنْinifعَصَيْتُهُʿaṣaytuhuI (were to) disobey HimفَمَاfamāSo notتَزِيدُونَنِيtazīdūnanīyou would increase meغَيْرَghayrabutتَخْسِيرٍtakhsīrin(in) loss
64. 64وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!هَذِهِhādhihiThisنَاقَةُnāqatushe-camelاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَكُمْlakum(is) for youءَايَةًāyatana Signفَذَرُوهَاfadharūhāso leave herتَأْكُلْtakulto eatفِيfīinأَرْضِarḍithe earthاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَمَسُّوهَاtamassūhātouch herبِسُوءٍbisūinwith harmفَيَأْخُذَكُمْfayakhudhakumlest will seize youعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentقَرِيبٌqarībunimpending
65. 65فَعَقَرُوهَاfaʿaqarūhāBut they hamstrung herفَقَالَfaqālaSo he saidتَمَتَّعُواtamattaʿūEnjoy (yourselves)فِيfīinدَارِكُمْdārikumyour home(s)ثَلَاثَةَthalāthata(for) threeأَيَّامٍayyāmindaysذَلِكَdhālikaThatوَعْدٌwaʿdun(is) a promiseغَيْرُghayrunotمَكْذُوبٍmakdhūbin(to) be belied
66. 66فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُنَاamrunāOur commandنَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe savedصَالِحًاṣāliḥanSalihوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himبِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinby a Mercyمِنَّاminnāfrom Usوَمِنْwaminand fromخِزْيِkhiz'yi(the) disgraceيَوْمِئِذٍyawmi-idhin(of) that DayإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour LordهُوَhuwaHeالْقَوِيُّl-qawiyu(is) All- Strongالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuAll-Mighty
67. 67وَأَخَذَwa-akhadhaAnd seizedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedالصَّيْحَةُl-ṣayḥatuthe thunderous blastفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūthen they becameفِيfīinدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesجَاثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone
68. 68كَأَنْka-anAs ifلَمْlamnotيَغْنَوْاyaghnawthey (had) prosperedفِيهَاfīhāthereinأَلَاalāNo doubtإِنَّinnaindeedثَمُودَthamūdāThamudكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedرَبَّهُمْrabbahum(in) their Lordأَلَاalāsoبُعْدًاbuʿ'danawayلِثَمُودَlithamūdawith Thamud
69. 69وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَتْjāatcameرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengersإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahimبِالْبُشْرَىbil-bush'rāwith glad tidingsقَالُواqālūthey saidسَلَامًاsalāmanPeaceقَالَqālaHe saidسَلَامٌsalāmunPeaceفَمَاfamāand not he delayedلَبِثَlabithaand not he delayedأَنْantoجَاءَjāabringبِعِجْلٍbiʿij'lina calfحَنِيذٍḥanīdhinroasted
70. 70فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenرَءَاraāhe sawأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsلَاlānotتَصِلُtaṣilureachingإِلَيْهِilayhito itنَكِرَهُمْnakirahumhe felt unfamiliar of themوَأَوْجَسَwa-awjasaand felt apprehensionمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themخِيفَةًkhīfatan[a fear]قَالُواqālūThey saidلَاlā(Do) notتَخَفْtakhaffearإِنَّاinnāIndeed weأُرْسِلْنَاur'sil'nā[we] have been sentإِلَىilātoقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleلُوطٍlūṭin(of) Lut
71. 71وَامْرَأَتُهُwa-im'ra-atuhuAnd his wifeقَائِمَةٌqāimatun(was) standingفَضَحِكَتْfaḍaḥikatand she laughedفَبَشَّرْنَاهَاfabasharnāhāThen We gave her glad tidingsبِإِسْحَاقَbi-is'ḥāqaof Ishaqوَمِنْwaminand afterوَرَاءِwarāiand afterإِسْحَاقَis'ḥāqaIsaacيَعْقُوبَyaʿqūba(of) Yaqub
72. 72قَالَتْqālatShe saidيَاوَيْلَتَىyāwaylatāWoe to me!ءَأَلِدُa-aliduShall I bear a childوَأَنَاwa-anāwhile I amعَجُوزٌʿajūzunan old womanوَهَذَاwahādhāand thisبَعْلِيbaʿlīmy husbandشَيْخًاshaykhan(is) an old manإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَشَيْءٌlashayon(is) surely a thingعَجِيبٌʿajībunamazing
73. 73قَالُواqālūThey saidأَتَعْجَبِينَataʿjabīnaAre you amazedمِنْminatأَمْرِamri(the) decree of Allahاللَّهِl-lahi(the) decree of AllahرَحْمَتُraḥmatuThe Mercy of Allahاللَّهِl-lahiThe Mercy of Allahوَبَرَكَاتُهُwabarakātuhuand His blessingsعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum(be) upon youأَهْلَahlapeopleالْبَيْتِl-bayti(of) the houseإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heحَمِيدٌḥamīdun(is) All-PraiseworthyمَجِيدٌmajīdunAll-Glorious
74. 74فَلَمَّاfalammāAnd whenذَهَبَdhahaba(had) gone awayعَنْʿanfromإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimالرَّوْعُl-rawʿuthe frightوَجَاءَتْهُwajāathuand had reached himالْبُشْرَىl-bush'rāthe glad tidingsيُجَادِلُنَاyujādilunāhe argued with Usفِيfīconcerningقَوْمِqawmithe peopleلُوطٍlūṭinof Lut
75. 75إِنَّinnaIndeedإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimلَحَلِيمٌlaḥalīmun(was) certainly forbearingأَوَّاهٌawwāhunimploringمُنِيبٌmunībunand oft-returning
76. 76يَاإِبْرَاهِيمُyāib'rāhīmuO Ibrahim!أَعْرِضْaʿriḍTurn awayعَنْʿanfromهَذَاhādhāthisإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itقَدْqadcertainlyجَاءَjāahas comeأَمْرُamru(the) Commandرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordوَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumand indeed [they]ءَاتِيهِمْātīhim(will) come (for) themعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentغَيْرُghayru(which) cannotمَرْدُودٍmardūdin(be) repelled
77. 77وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَاءَتْjāatcameرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengersلُوطًاlūṭan(to) Lutسِيءَsīahe was distressedبِهِمْbihimfor themوَضَاقَwaḍāqaand felt straitenedبِهِمْbihimfor themذَرْعًاdharʿan(and) uneasyوَقَالَwaqālaand saidهَذَاhādhāThisيَوْمٌyawmun(is) a dayعَصِيبٌʿaṣībundistressful
78. 78وَجَاءَهُwajāahuAnd came (to) himقَوْمُهُqawmuhuhis peopleيُهْرَعُونَyuh'raʿūnarushingإِلَيْهِilayhito himوَمِنْwaminand beforeقَبْلُqabluand beforeكَانُواkānūthey (had) beenيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoingالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātithe evil deedsقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleهَؤُلَاءِhāulāiTheseبَنَاتِيbanātī(are) my daughtersهُنَّhunnatheyأَطْهَرُaṭharu(are) purerلَكُمْlakumfor youفَاتَّقُواfa-ittaqūSo fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُخْزُونِtukh'zūnidisgrace meفِيfīconcerningضَيْفِيḍayfīmy guestsأَلَيْسَalaysaIs (there) notمِنْكُمْminkumamong youرَجُلٌrajuluna manرَشِيدٌrashīdunright-minded
79. 79قَالُواqālūThey saidلَقَدْlaqadVerilyعَلِمْتَʿalim'tayou knowمَاmā(that) notلَنَاlanāwe haveفِيfīconcerningبَنَاتِكَbanātikayour daughtersمِنْminanyحَقٍّḥaqqinrightوَإِنَّكَwa-innakaAnd indeed youلَتَعْلَمُlataʿlamusurely knowمَاmāwhatنُرِيدُnurīduwe want
80. 80قَالَqālaHe saidلَوْlawIfأَنَّannathatلِيlīI hadبِكُمْbikumover youقُوَّةًquwwatanpowerأَوْaworءَاوِيāwīI could take refugeإِلَىilāinرُكْنٍruk'nina supportشَدِيدٍshadīdinstrong
81. 81قَالُواqālūThey saidيَالُوطُyālūṭuO LutإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weرُسُلُrusulu(are) messengersرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَنْlanneverيَصِلُواyaṣilūthey will reachإِلَيْكَilaykayouفَأَسْرِfa-asriSo travelبِأَهْلِكَbi-ahlikawith your familyبِقِطْعٍbiqiṭ'ʿinin a partمِنَminaofاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightوَلَاwalāand (let) notيَلْتَفِتْyaltafitlook backمِنْكُمْminkumanyone of youأَحَدٌaḥadunanyone of youإِلَّاillāexceptامْرَأَتَكَim'ra-atakayour wifeإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, itمُصِيبُهَاmuṣībuhāwill strike herمَاmāwhatأَصَابَهُمْaṣābahumwill strike themإِنَّinnaIndeedمَوْعِدَهُمُmawʿidahumutheir appointed timeالصُّبْحُl-ṣub'ḥu(is) morningأَلَيْسَalaysaIs notالصُّبْحُl-ṣub'ḥuthe morningبِقَرِيبٍbiqarībinnear
82. 82فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُنَاamrunāOur CommandجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeعَالِيَهَاʿāliyahāits upsideسَافِلَهَاsāfilahāits downsideوَأَمْطَرْنَاwa-amṭarnāand We rainedعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon themحِجَارَةًḥijāratanstonesمِنْminofسِجِّيلٍsijjīlinbaked clayمَنْضُودٍmanḍūdin(in) layers
83. 83مُسَوَّمَةًmusawwamatanMarkedعِنْدَʿindafromرَبِّكَrabbikayour LordوَمَاwamāAnd notهِيَhiyaitمِنَmina(is) fromالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersبِبَعِيدٍbibaʿīdinfar
84. 84وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toمَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyanأَخَاهُمْakhāhumtheir brotherشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاmānotلَكُمْlakum(is) for youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَنْقُصُواtanquṣūdecreaseالْمِكْيَالَl-mik'yāla(from) the measureوَالْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand the scaleإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَرَاكُمْarākumsee youبِخَيْرٍbikhayrinin prosperityوَإِنِّيwa-innībut indeed Iأَخَافُakhāfufearعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youعَذَابَʿadhābapunishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of ) a Dayمُحِيطٍmuḥīṭinall-encompassing
85. 85وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!أَوْفُواawfūGive fullالْمِكْيَالَl-mik'yālameasureوَالْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand weightبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiin justiceوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَبْخَسُواtabkhasūdepriveالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleأَشْيَاءَهُمْashyāahum(of) their thingsوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَعْثَوْاtaʿthawact wickedlyفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمُفْسِدِينَmuf'sidīnaspreading corruption
86. 86بَقِيَّتُbaqiyyatu(What) remainsاللَّهِl-lahi(from) Allahخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelieversوَمَاwamāAnd notأَنَاanāI amعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youبِحَفِيظٍbiḥafīẓina guardian
87. 87قَالُواqālūThey saidيَاشُعَيْبُyāshuʿaybuO Shuaib!أَصَلَوتُكَaṣalatukaDoes your prayerتَأْمُرُكَtamurukacommand youأَنْanthatنَتْرُكَnatrukawe leaveمَاmāwhatيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersأَوْaworأَنْanthatنَفْعَلَnafʿalawe doفِيfīconcerningأَمْوَالِنَاamwālināour wealthمَاmāwhatنَشَاءُnashāuwe willإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youلَأَنْتَla-antasurely youالْحَلِيمُl-ḥalīmu(are) the forbearingالرَّشِيدُl-rashīduthe right-minded
88. 88قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumDo you seeإِنْinifكُنْتُkuntuI amعَلَىʿalāonبَيِّنَةٍbayyinatina clear evidenceمِنْminfromرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَرَزَقَنِيwarazaqanīand He has provided meمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himselfرِزْقًاriz'qana good provisionحَسَنًاḥasanana good provisionوَمَاwamāAnd notأُرِيدُurīduI intendأَنْanthatأُخَالِفَكُمْukhālifakumI differ from youإِلَىilāinمَاmāwhatأَنْهَاكُمْanhākumI forbid youعَنْهُʿanhufrom itإِنْinNotأُرِيدُurīduI intendإِلَّاillāexceptالْإِصْلَاحَl-iṣ'lāḥathe reformمَاmāas much as I am ableاسْتَطَعْتُis'taṭaʿtuas much as I am ableوَمَاwamāAnd notتَوْفِيقِيtawfīqī(is) my successإِلَّاillāexceptبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith AllahعَلَيْهِʿalayhiUpon HimتَوَكَّلْتُtawakkaltuI trustوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to HimأُنِيبُunībuI turn
89. 89وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my peopleلَاlā(Let) not cause you to sinيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakum(Let) not cause you to sinشِقَاقِيshiqāqīmy dissensionأَنْanlestيُصِيبَكُمْyuṣībakumbefalls youمِثْلُmith'lusimilarمَاmā(to) whatأَصَابَaṣābabefellقَوْمَqawma(the) people of Nuhنُوحٍnūḥin(the) people of Nuhأَوْaworقَوْمَqawma(the) people of Hudهُودٍhūdin(the) people of Hudأَوْaworقَوْمَqawmapeople of Salihصَالِحٍṣāliḥinpeople of SalihوَمَاwamāAnd notقَوْمُqawmu(are the) people of Lutلُوطٍlūṭin(are the) people of Lutمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youبِبَعِيدٍbibaʿīdinfar off
90. 90وَاسْتَغْفِرُواwa-is'taghfirūAnd ask forgivenessرَبَّكُمْrabbakum(of) your Lordثُمَّthummathenتُوبُواtūbūturn in repentanceإِلَيْهِilayhito HimإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordرَحِيمٌraḥīmun(is) Most MercifulوَدُودٌwadūdunMost Loving
91. 91قَالُواqālūThey saidيَاشُعَيْبُyāshuʿaybuO ShuaibمَاmāNotنَفْقَهُnafqahuwe understandكَثِيرًاkathīranmuchمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَقُولُtaqūluyou sayوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, weلَنَرَاكَlanarākasurely [we] see youفِينَاfīnāamong usضَعِيفًاḍaʿīfanweakوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notرَهْطُكَrahṭukafor your familyلَرَجَمْنَاكَlarajamnākasurely we would have stoned youوَمَاwamāand you are notأَنْتَantaand you are notعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāagainst usبِعَزِيزٍbiʿazīzinmighty
92. 92قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!أَرَهْطِيarahṭīIs my familyأَعَزُّaʿazzumightierعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youمِنَminathanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُwa-ittakhadhtumūhuAnd you have taken Himوَرَاءَكُمْwarāakumbehind yourظِهْرِيًّاẓih'riyyanbacksإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doمُحِيطٌmuḥīṭun(is) All-Encompassing
93. 93وَيَاقَوْمِwayāqawmiAnd O my people!اعْمَلُواiʿ'malūWorkعَلَىʿalā(according) toمَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour positionإِنِّيinnīindeed I amعَامِلٌʿāmilunworkingسَوْفَsawfaSoonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will knowمَنْman(on) whomيَأْتِيهِyatīhiwill comeعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentيُخْزِيهِyukh'zīhi(that will) disgrace himوَمَنْwamanand whoهُوَhuwa[he]كَاذِبٌkādhibun(is) a liarوَارْتَقِبُواwa-ir'taqibūAnd watchإِنِّيinnīindeed I amمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youرَقِيبٌraqībuna watcher
94. 94وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُنَاamrunāOur CommandنَجَّيْنَاnajjaynāWe savedشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himبِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinby a Mercyمِنَّاminnāfrom Usوَأَخَذَتِwa-akhadhatiAnd seizedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedالصَّيْحَةُl-ṣayḥatuthe thunderous blastفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūthen they becameفِيfīinدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesجَاثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone
95. 95كَأَنْka-anAs ifلَمْlamnotيَغْنَوْاyaghnawthey (had) prosperedفِيهَاfīhāthereinأَلَاalāSoبُعْدًاbuʿ'danawayلِمَدْيَنَlimadyanawith Madyanكَمَاkamāasبَعِدَتْbaʿidatwas taken awayثَمُودُthamūduthe Thamud
96. 96وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمُوسَىmūsāMusaبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signsوَسُلْطَانٍwasul'ṭāninand an authorityمُبِينٍmubīninclear
97. 97إِلَىilāToفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَمَلَإيهِwamala-ihiand his chiefsفَاتَّبَعُواfa-ittabaʿūbut they followedأَمْرَamra(the) command of Firaunفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(the) command of Firaunوَمَاwamāand notأَمْرُamru(the) command of Firaunفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(the) command of Firaunبِرَشِيدٍbirashīdinwas right
98. 98يَقْدُمُyaqdumuHe will precedeقَوْمَهُqawmahuhis peopleيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionفَأَوْرَدَهُمُfa-awradahumuand lead themالنَّارَl-nāra(into) the Fireوَبِئْسَwabi'saAnd wretchedالْوِرْدُl-wir'du(is) the placeالْمَوْرُودُl-mawrūduto which (they are) led
99. 99وَأُتْبِعُواwa-ut'biʿūAnd they were followedفِيfīinهَذِهِhādhihithisلَعْنَةًlaʿnatan(by) a curseوَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionبِئْسَbi'saWretchedالرِّفْدُl-rif'du(is) the giftالْمَرْفُودُl-marfūduwhich (will) be given
100. 100ذَلِكَdhālikaThatمِنْmin(is) fromأَنْبَاءِanbāi(the) newsالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the citiesنَقُصُّهُnaquṣṣuhu(which) We relateعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْهَاmin'hāof themقَائِمٌqāimunsome are standingوَحَصِيدٌwaḥaṣīdunand (some) mown
101. 101وَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمْنَاهُمْẓalamnāhumWe wronged themوَلَكِنْwalākinbutظَلَمُواẓalamūthey wrongedأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesفَمَاfamāSo notأَغْنَتْaghnatavailedعَنْهُمْʿanhumthemءَالِهَتُهُمُālihatuhumutheir godsالَّتِيallatīwhichيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokedمِنْminother than Allahدُونِdūniother than Allahاللَّهِl-lahiother than Allahمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingلَمَّاlammāwhenجَاءَjāacameأَمْرُamru(the) command (of) your Lordرَبِّكَrabbika(the) command (of) your LordوَمَاwamāAnd notزَادُوهُمْzādūhumthey increased themغَيْرَghayraother thanتَتْبِيبٍtatbībinruin
102. 102وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusأَخْذُakhdhu(is) the seizure (of) your Lordرَبِّكَrabbika(is) the seizure (of) your LordإِذَاidhāwhenأَخَذَakhadhaHe seizesالْقُرَىl-qurāthe citiesوَهِيَwahiyawhile theyظَالِمَةٌẓālimatun(are) doing wrongإِنَّinnaIndeedأَخْذَهُakhdhahuHis seizureأَلِيمٌalīmun(is) painfulشَدِيدٌshadīdun(and) severe
103. 103إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a Signلِمَنْlimanfor (those) whoخَافَkhāfafearعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the HereafterذَلِكَdhālikaThatيَوْمٌyawmun(is) a Dayمَجْمُوعٌmajmūʿun(will) be gatheredلَهُlahuon itالنَّاسُl-nāsuthe mankindوَذَلِكَwadhālikaand thatيَوْمٌyawmun(is) a Dayمَشْهُودٌmashhūdunwitnessed
104. 104وَمَاwamāAnd notنُؤَخِّرُهُnu-akhiruhuWe delay itإِلَّاillāexceptلِأَجَلٍli-ajalinfor a termمَعْدُودٍmaʿdūdinlimited
105. 105يَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَأْتِyati(it) comesلَاlānotتَكَلَّمُtakallamuwill speakنَفْسٌnafsuna soulإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِهِbi-idh'nihiby His leaveفَمِنْهُمْfamin'humThen among themشَقِيٌّshaqiyyun(will be the) wretchedوَسَعِيدٌwasaʿīdunand (the) glad
106. 106فَأَمَّاfa-ammāAs forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoشَقُواshaqūwere wretchedفَفِيfafīthen (they will be) inالنَّارِl-nārithe FireلَهُمْlahumFor themفِيهَاfīhāthereinزَفِيرٌzafīrun(is) sighingوَشَهِيقٌwashahīqunand wailing
107. 107خَالِدِينَkhālidīna(Will be) abidingفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَاmāas long as remainدَامَتِdāmatias long as remainالسَّمَاوَاتُl-samāwātuthe heavensوَالْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earthإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhat your Lord willsشَاءَshāawhat your Lord willsرَبُّكَrabbukawhat your Lord willsإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordفَعَّالٌfaʿʿālun(is) All-Accomplisherلِمَاlimāof whatيُرِيدُyurīduHe intends
108. 108وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoسُعِدُواsuʿidūwere gladفَفِيfafīthen (they will be) inالْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadiseخَالِدِينَkhālidīna(will be) abidingفِيهَاfīhāthereinمَاmāas long as remainsدَامَتِdāmatias long as remainsالسَّمَاوَاتُl-samāwātuthe heavensوَالْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earthإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhat your Lord willsشَاءَshāawhat your Lord willsرَبُّكَrabbukawhat your Lord willsعَطَاءًʿaṭāana bestowalغَيْرَghayranotمَجْذُوذٍmajdhūdhininterrupted
109. 109فَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَكُtakubeفِيfīinمِرْيَةٍmir'yatindoubtمِمَّاmimmāas to whatيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipهَؤُلَاءِhāulāithese (polytheists)مَاmāNotيَعْبُدُونَyaʿbudūnathey worshipإِلَّاillāexceptكَمَاkamāas whatيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshippedءَابَاؤُهُمْābāuhumtheir forefathersمِنْminbeforeقَبْلُqablubeforeوَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, Weلَمُوَفُّوهُمْlamuwaffūhumwill surely pay them in fullنَصِيبَهُمْnaṣībahumtheir shareغَيْرَghayrawithoutمَنْقُوصٍmanqūṣinbeing diminished
110. 110وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookفَاخْتُلِفَfa-ukh'tulifabut differences aroseفِيهِfīhithereinوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notكَلِمَةٌkalimatun(for) a Wordسَبَقَتْsabaqat(that) precededمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَقُضِيَlaquḍiyasurely would have been judgedبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themوَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumAnd indeed theyلَفِيlafīsurely (are) inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِنْهُmin'huconcerning itمُرِيبٍmurībinsuspicious
111. 111وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedكُلًّاkullanto each [when]لَمَّاlammāto each [when]لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْlayuwaffiyannahumsurely will pay them in fullرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordأَعْمَالَهُمْaʿmālahumtheir deedsإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey doخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Aware
112. 112فَاسْتَقِمْfa-is'taqimSo stand firmكَمَاkamāasأُمِرْتَumir'tayou are commandedوَمَنْwamanand (those) whoتَابَtābaturn (in repentance)مَعَكَmaʿakawith youوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَطْغَوْاtaṭghawtransgressإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
113. 113وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَرْكَنُواtarkanūinclineإِلَىilātoالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūdo wrongفَتَمَسَّكُمُfatamassakumulest touches youالنَّارُl-nāruthe Fireوَمَاwamāand notلَكُمْlakum(is) for youمِنْminbesides Allahدُونِdūnibesides Allahاللَّهِl-lahibesides Allahمِنْminanyأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaprotectorsثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotتُنْصَرُونَtunṣarūnayou will be helped
114. 114وَأَقِمِwa-aqimiAnd establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerطَرَفَيِṭarafayi(at the) two endsالنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the dayوَزُلَفًاwazulafanand (at) the approachمِنَminaofاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightإِنَّinnaIndeedالْحَسَنَاتِl-ḥasanātithe good deedsيُذْهِبْنَyudh'hib'naremoveالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātithe evil deedsذَلِكَdhālikaThatذِكْرَىdhik'rā(is) a reminderلِلذَّاكِرِينَlildhākirīnafor those who remember
115. 115وَاصْبِرْwa-iṣ'birAnd be patientفَإِنَّfa-innafor indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُضِيعُyuḍīʿulet go wasteأَجْرَajra(the) rewardالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(of) the good-doers
116. 116فَلَوْلَاfalawlāSo why notكَانَkānahad beenمِنَminaofالْقُرُونِl-qurūnithe generationsمِنْminbefore youقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youأُولُواulūthose possessing a remnantبَقِيَّةٍbaqiyyatinthose possessing a remnantيَنْهَوْنَyanhawnaforbiddingعَنِʿanifromالْفَسَادِl-fasādithe corruptionفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana fewمِمَّنْmimmanof thoseأَنْجَيْنَاanjaynāWe savedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَاتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaBut followedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūdid wrongمَاmāwhatأُتْرِفُواut'rifūluxury they were givenفِيهِfīhithereinوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereمُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminals
117. 117وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawouldرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordلِيُهْلِكَliyuh'likadestroyالْقُرَىl-qurāthe citiesبِظُلْمٍbiẓul'minunjustlyوَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile its peopleمُصْلِحُونَmuṣ'liḥūna(were) reformers
118. 118وَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāayour Lord (had) willedرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord (had) willedلَجَعَلَlajaʿalasurely He (could) have madeالنَّاسَl-nāsathe mankindأُمَّةًummatanone communityوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatanone communityوَلَاwalābut notيَزَالُونَyazālūnathey will ceaseمُخْتَلِفِينَmukh'talifīnato differ
119. 119إِلَّاillāExceptمَنْman(on) whomرَحِمَraḥimayour Lord has bestowed Mercyرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lord has bestowed Mercyوَلِذَلِكَwalidhālikaand for thatخَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahumHe created themوَتَمَّتْwatammatAnd will be fulfilledكَلِمَةُkalimatu(the) Word of your Lordرَبِّكَrabbika(the) Word of your Lordلَأَمْلَأَنَّla-amla-annaSurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellمِنَminawithالْجِنَّةِl-jinatithe Jinnوَالنَّاسِwal-nāsiand the menأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall together
120. 120وَكُلًّاwakullanAnd eachنَقُصُّnaquṣṣuWe relateعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْminofأَنْبَاءِanbāi(the) newsالرُّسُلِl-rusuli(of) the Messengersمَاmā(for) thatنُثَبِّتُnuthabbituWe may make firmبِهِbihiwith itفُؤَادَكَfuādakayour heartوَجَاءَكَwajāakaAnd has come to youفِيfīinهَذِهِhādhihithisالْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthوَمَوْعِظَةٌwamawʿiẓatunand an admonitionوَذِكْرَىwadhik'rāand a reminderلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
121. 121وَقُلْwaqulAnd sayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveاعْمَلُواiʿ'malūWorkعَلَىʿalā(according) toمَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour positionإِنَّاinnāindeed weعَامِلُونَʿāmilūna(are also) working
122. 122وَانْتَظِرُواwa-intaẓirūAnd waitإِنَّاinnāindeed weمُنْتَظِرُونَmuntaẓirūna(are) ones who wait
123. 123وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahغَيْبُghaybu(is the) unseenالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himيُرْجَعُyur'jaʿuwill be returnedالْأَمْرُl-amruthe matterكُلُّهُkulluhuall (of) itفَاعْبُدْهُfa-uʿ'bud'huso worship Himوَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkaland put your trustعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon HimوَمَاwamāAnd your Lord is notرَبُّكَrabbukaAnd your Lord is notبِغَافِلٍbighāfilinunawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
