بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Surah 7 — Al-A'raaf

  1. 1الٓمٓصٓalif-lam-meem-sadAlif Laam Meem Saad
  2. 2كِتَابٌkitābunA Bookأُنْزِلَunzilarevealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youفَلَاfalāso (let) notيَكُنْyakunbeفِيinصَدْرِكَṣadrikayour breastحَرَجٌḥarajunany uneasinessمِنْهُmin'hufrom itلِتُنْذِرَlitundhirathat you warnبِهِbihiwith itوَذِكْرَىwadhik'rāand a reminderلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnafor the believers
  3. 3اتَّبِعُواittabiʿūFollowمَاwhatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowمِنْminfromدُونِهِdūnihibeside Himأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaany alliesقَلِيلًاqalīlanLittleمَا(is) whatتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnayou remember
  4. 4وَكَمْwakamAnd how manyمِنْminofقَرْيَةٍqaryatina cityأَهْلَكْنَاهَاahlaknāhāWe destroyed itفَجَاءَهَاfajāahāand came to itبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentبَيَاتًاbayātan(at) nightأَوْaworهُمْhum(while) theyقَائِلُونَqāilūnawere sleeping at noon
  5. 5فَمَاfamāThen notكَانَkānawasدَعْوَاهُمْdaʿwāhumtheir pleaإِذْidhwhenجَاءَهُمْjāahumcame to themبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidإِنَّاinnāIndeed weكُنَّاkunnāwereظَالِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
  6. 6فَلَنَسْءَلَنَّfalanasalannaThen surely We will questionالَّذِينَalladhīnathose (to) whomأُرْسِلَur'silawere sentإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto them (Messengers)وَلَنَسْءَلَنَّwalanasalannaand surely We will questionالْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
  7. 7فَلَنَقُصَّنَّfalanaquṣṣannaThen surely We will narrateعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themبِعِلْمٍbiʿil'minwith knowledgeوَمَاwamāand notكُنَّاkunnāWe wereغَائِبِينَghāibīnaabsent
  8. 8وَالْوَزْنُwal-waznuAnd the weighingيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat dayالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(will be) the truthفَمَنْfamanSo whoseثَقُلَتْthaqulat(will be) heavyمَوَازِينُهُmawāzīnuhuhis scalesفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(will be) the successful ones
  9. 9وَمَنْwamanAnd (for) thoseخَفَّتْkhaffat(will be) lightمَوَازِينُهُmawāzīnuhuhis scalesفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikaso thoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(will be) the ones whoخَسِرُواkhasirūlostأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey wereبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināto Our Versesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūna(doing) injustice
  10. 10وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyمَكَّنَّاكُمْmakkannākumWe established youفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeلَكُمْlakumfor youفِيهَاfīhāin itمَعَايِشَmaʿāyishalivelihoodقَلِيلًاqalīlanLittleمَا(is) whatتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūnayou (are) grateful
  11. 11وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyخَلَقْنَاكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created youثُمَّthummathenصَوَّرْنَاكُمْṣawwarnākumWe fashioned youثُمَّthummaThenقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلِلْمَلَائِكَةِlil'malāikatito the Angelsاسْجُدُواus'judūProstrateلِءَادَمَliādamato AdamفَسَجَدُواfasajadūSo they prostratedإِلَّاillāexceptإِبْلِيسَib'līsaIbleesلَمْlamNotيَكُنْyakunhe wasمِنَminaofالسَّاجِدِينَl-sājidīnathose who prostrated
  12. 12قَالَqāla(Allah) saidمَاWhatمَنَعَكَmanaʿakaprevented youأَلَّاallāthat notتَسْجُدَtasjudayou prostrateإِذْidhwhenأَمَرْتُكَamartukaI commanded youقَالَqāla(Shaitaan) saidأَنَاanāI amخَيْرٌkhayrunbetterمِنْهُmin'huthan himخَلَقْتَنِيkhalaqtanīYou created meمِنْminfromنَارٍnārinfireوَخَلَقْتَهُwakhalaqtahuand You created himمِنْminfromطِينٍṭīninclay
  13. 13قَالَqāla(Allah) saidفَاهْبِطْfa-ih'biṭThen go downمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itفَمَاfamāfor notيَكُونُyakūnuit isلَكَlakafor youأَنْanthatتَتَكَبَّرَtatakabbarayou be arrogantفِيهَاfīhāin itفَاخْرُجْfa-ukh'rujSo get outإِنَّكَinnakaindeed youمِنَmina(are) ofالصَّاغِرِينَl-ṣāghirīnathe disgraced ones
  14. 14قَالَqāla(Shaitaan) saidأَنْظِرْنِيanẓir'nīGive me respiteإِلَىilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَyub'ʿathūnathey are raised up
  15. 15قَالَqāla(Allah) saidإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed youمِنَmina(are) ofالْمُنْظَرِينَl-munẓarīnathe ones given respite
  16. 16قَالَqāla(Shaitaan) saidفَبِمَاfabimāBecauseأَغْوَيْتَنِيaghwaytanīYou have sent me astrayلَأَقْعُدَنَّla-aqʿudannasurely I will sitلَهُمْlahumfor themصِرَاطَكَṣirāṭaka(on) Your pathالْمُسْتَقِيمَl-mus'taqīmathe straight
  17. 17ثُمَّthummaThenلَءَاتِيَنَّهُمْlaātiyannahumsurely, I will come to themمِنْminfromبَيْنِbaynibeforeأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimthemوَمِنْwaminand fromخَلْفِهِمْkhalfihimbehind themوَعَنْwaʿanand fromأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihimtheir rightوَعَنْwaʿanand fromشَمَائِلِهِمْshamāilihimtheir leftوَلَاwalāand notتَجِدُtajiduYou (will) findأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themشَاكِرِينَshākirīnagrateful
  18. 18قَالَqāla(Allah) saidاخْرُجْukh'rujGet outمِنْهَاmin'hāof itمَذْءُومًاmadhūmandisgracedمَدْحُورًاmadḥūranand expelledلَمَنْlamanCertainly whoeverتَبِعَكَtabiʿakafollows youمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَأَمْلَأَنَّla-amla-annasurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellمِنْكُمْminkumwith youأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  19. 19وَيَاءَادَمُwayāādamuAnd O Adam!اسْكُنْus'kunDwellأَنْتَantayouوَزَوْجُكَwazawjukaand your wifeالْجَنَّةَl-janata(in) the Gardenفَكُلَاfakulāand you both eatمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverشِئْتُمَاshi'tumāyou both wishوَلَاwalābut (do) notتَقْرَبَاtaqrabāapproach [you both]هَذِهِhādhihithisالشَّجَرَةَl-shajarata[the] treeفَتَكُونَاfatakūnālest you both beمِنَminaamongالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  20. 20فَوَسْوَسَfawaswasaThen whisperedلَهُمَاlahumāto both of themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanلِيُبْدِيَliyub'diyato make apparentلَهُمَاlahumāto both of themمَاwhatوُورِيَwūriyawas concealedعَنْهُمَاʿanhumāfrom both of themمِنْminofسَوْءَاتِهِمَاsawātihimātheir shameوَقَالَwaqālaAnd he saidمَا(Did) notنَهَاكُمَاnahākumāforbid you bothرَبُّكُمَاrabbukumāyour Lordعَنْʿanfromهَذِهِhādhihithisالشَّجَرَةِl-shajarati[the] treeإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatتَكُونَاtakūnāyou two becomeمَلَكَيْنِmalakayniAngelsأَوْaworتَكُونَاtakūnāyou two becomeمِنَminaofالْخَالِدِينَl-khālidīnathe immortals
  21. 21وَقَاسَمَهُمَاwaqāsamahumāAnd he swore (to) both of themإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amلَكُمَاlakumāto both of youلَمِنَlaminaamongالنَّاصِحِينَl-nāṣiḥīnathe sincere advisers
  22. 22فَدَلَّاهُمَاfadallāhumāSo he made both of them fallبِغُرُورٍbighurūrinby deceptionفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenذَاقَاdhāqāthey both tastedالشَّجَرَةَl-shajaratathe treeبَدَتْbadatbecame apparentلَهُمَاlahumāto both of themسَوْءَاتُهُمَاsawātuhumātheir shameوَطَفِقَاwaṭafiqāand they beganيَخْصِفَانِyakhṣifāni(to) fastenعَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimāover themselvesمِنْminfromوَرَقِwaraqi(the) leavesالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) the GardenوَنَادَاهُمَاwanādāhumāAnd called them bothرَبُّهُمَاrabbuhumātheir LordأَلَمْalamDid notأَنْهَكُمَاanhakumāI forbid you bothعَنْʿanfromتِلْكُمَاtil'kumāthisالشَّجَرَةِl-shajarati[the] treeوَأَقُلْwa-aquland [I] sayلَكُمَاlakumāto both of youإِنَّinnathatالشَّيْطَانَl-shayṭāna[the] Shaitaanلَكُمَاlakumāto both of youعَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(is) an enemyمُبِينٌmubīnunopen
  23. 23قَالَاqālāBoth of them saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordظَلَمْنَاẓalamnāwe have wrongedأَنْفُسَنَاanfusanāourselvesوَإِنْwa-inand ifلَمْlamnotتَغْفِرْtaghfirYou forgiveلَنَاlanā[for] usوَتَرْحَمْنَاwatarḥamnāand have mercy (on) usلَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannasurely we will beمِنَminaamongالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
  24. 24قَالَqāla(Allah) saidاهْبِطُواih'biṭūGet downبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumsome of youلِبَعْضٍlibaʿḍinto some othersعَدُوٌّʿaduwwun(as) enemyوَلَكُمْwalakumAnd for youفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمُسْتَقَرٌّmus'taqarrun(is) a dwelling placeوَمَتَاعٌwamatāʿunand livelihoodإِلَىilāforحِينٍḥīnina time
  25. 25قَالَqālaHe saidفِيهَاfīhāIn itتَحْيَوْنَtaḥyawnayou will liveوَفِيهَاwafīhāand in itتَمُوتُونَtamūtūnayou will dieوَمِنْهَاwamin'hāand from itتُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūnayou will be brought forth
  26. 26يَابَنِيyābanīO Childrenءَادَمَādama(of) AdamقَدْqadVerilyأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe have sent downعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youلِبَاسًاlibāsanclothingيُوَارِيyuwārīit coversسَوْءَاتِكُمْsawātikumyour shameوَرِيشًاwarīshanand (as) an adornmentوَلِبَاسُwalibāsuBut the clothingالتَّقْوَىl-taqwā(of) [the] righteousnessذَلِكَdhālikathatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestذَلِكَdhālikaThatمِنْmin(is) fromءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Signsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَذَّكَّرُونَyadhakkarūnaremember
  27. 27يَابَنِيyābanīO Childrenءَادَمَādama(of) Adam!لَا(Let) notيَفْتِنَنَّكُمُyaftinannakumutempt youالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānu[the] Shaitaanكَمَاkamāasأَخْرَجَakhrajahe drove outأَبَوَيْكُمْabawaykumyour parentsمِنَminafromالْجَنَّةِl-janatiParadiseيَنْزِعُyanziʿustrippingعَنْهُمَاʿanhumāfrom both of themلِبَاسَهُمَاlibāsahumātheir clothingلِيُرِيَهُمَاliyuriyahumāto show both of themسَوْءَاتِهِمَاsawātihimātheir shameإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed heيَرَاكُمْyarākumsees youهُوَhuwaheوَقَبِيلُهُwaqabīluhuand his tribeمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَاnotتَرَوْنَهُمْtarawnahumyou see themإِنَّاinnāIndeedجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have madeالشَّيَاطِينَl-shayāṭīnathe devilsأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāafriendsلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaof those whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
  28. 28وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenفَعَلُواfaʿalūthey doفَاحِشَةًfāḥishatanimmoralityقَالُواqālūthey sayوَجَدْنَاwajadnāWe foundعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon itءَابَاءَنَاābāanāour forefathersوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahأَمَرَنَاamaranā(has) ordered usبِهَاbihāof itقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيَأْمُرُyamuruorderبِالْفَحْشَاءِbil-faḥshāiimmoralityأَتَقُولُونَataqūlūnaDo you sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  29. 29قُلْqulSayأَمَرَamara(Has been) orderedرَبِّيrabbī(by) my Lordبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭijusticeوَأَقِيمُواwa-aqīmūand setوُجُوهَكُمْwujūhakumyour facesعِنْدَʿindaatكُلِّkullieveryمَسْجِدٍmasjidinmasjidوَادْعُوهُwa-id'ʿūhuand invoke Himمُخْلِصِينَmukh'liṣīna(being) sincereلَهُlahuto Himالدِّينَl-dīna(in) the religionكَمَاkamāAsبَدَأَكُمْbada-akumHe originated youتَعُودُونَtaʿūdūna(so) will you return
  30. 30فَرِيقًاfarīqanA groupهَدَىhadāHe guidedوَفَرِيقًاwafarīqanand a groupحَقَّḥaqqadeservedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimu[on] theyالضَّلَالَةُl-ḍalālatuthe astrayingإِنَّهُمُinnahumuIndeed, theyاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtakeالشَّيَاطِينَl-shayāṭīnathe devilsأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَيَحْسَبُونَwayaḥsabūnawhile they thinkأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyمُهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are the) guided-ones
  31. 31يَابَنِيyābanīO Childrenءَادَمَādama(of) Adam!خُذُواkhudhūTakeزِينَتَكُمْzīnatakumyour adornmentعِنْدَʿindaatكُلِّkullieveryمَسْجِدٍmasjidinmasjidوَكُلُواwakulūand eatوَاشْرَبُواwa-ish'rabūand drinkوَلَاwalābut (do) notتُسْرِفُواtus'rifūbe extravagantإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe extravagant ones
  32. 32قُلْqulSayمَنْmanWhoحَرَّمَḥarramahas forbiddenزِينَةَzīnata(the) adornmentاللَّهِl-lahi(from) AllahالَّتِيallatīwhichأَخْرَجَakhrajaHe has brought forthلِعِبَادِهِliʿibādihifor His slavesوَالطَّيِّبَاتِwal-ṭayibātiand the pure thingsمِنَminaofالرِّزْقِl-riz'qisustenanceقُلْqulSayهِيَhiyaTheyلِلَّذِينَlilladhīna(are) for those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveفِيduringالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldخَالِصَةًkhāliṣatanexclusively (for them)يَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) ResurrectionكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنُفَصِّلُnufaṣṣiluWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor (the) peopleيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnawho know
  33. 33قُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyحَرَّمَḥarrama(had) forbiddenرَبِّيَrabbiyamy Lordالْفَوَاحِشَl-fawāḥishathe shameful deedsمَاwhatظَهَرَẓahara(is) apparentمِنْهَاmin'hāof itوَمَاwamāand whatبَطَنَbaṭanais concealedوَالْإِثْمَwal-ith'maand the sinوَالْبَغْيَwal-baghyaand the oppressionبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi[the] rightوَأَنْwa-anand thatتُشْرِكُواtush'rikūyou associate (others)بِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith AllahمَاwhatلَمْlamnotيُنَزِّلْyunazzilHe (has) sent downبِهِbihiof itسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanany authorityوَأَنْwa-anand thatتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  34. 34وَلِكُلِّwalikulliAnd for everyأُمَّةٍummatinnationأَجَلٌajalun(is a fixed) termفَإِذَاfa-idhāSo whenجَاءَjāacomesأَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir termلَا(they can) notيَسْتَأْخِرُونَyastakhirūnaseek to delayسَاعَةًsāʿatanan hourوَلَاwalāand notيَسْتَقْدِمُونَyastaqdimūnaseek to advance (it)
  35. 35يَابَنِيyābanīO Childrenءَادَمَādama(of) Adam!إِمَّاimmāIfيَأْتِيَنَّكُمْyatiyannakumcomes to youرُسُلٌrusulunMessengersمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youيَقُصُّونَyaquṣṣūnarelatingعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youءَايَاتِيāyātīMy Versesفَمَنِfamanithen whoeverاتَّقَىittaqāfears Allahوَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reformsفَلَاfalāthen noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
  36. 36وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdenyبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesوَاسْتَكْبَرُواwa-is'takbarūand (are) arrogantعَنْهَاʿanhātowards themأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūnawill abide forever
  37. 37فَمَنْfamanThen whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventedعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieأَوْaworكَذَّبَkadhabadeniesبِءَايَاتِهِbiāyātihiHis VersesأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseيَنَالُهُمْyanāluhumwill reach themنَصِيبُهُمْnaṣībuhumtheir portionمِنَminafromالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcomes to themرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengers (Angels)يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْyatawaffawnahum(to) take them in deathقَالُواqālūthey sayأَيْنَaynaWhere areمَاthose (whom)كُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَدْعُونَtadʿūnainvokeمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَالُواqālūThey sayضَلُّواḍallūThey strayedعَنَّاʿannāfrom usوَشَهِدُواwashahidūand they (will) testifyعَلَىʿalāagainstأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyكَانُواkānūwereكَافِرِينَkāfirīnadisbelievers
  38. 38قَالَqālaHe (will) sayادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterفِيamongأُمَمٍumamin(the) nationsقَدْqad(who)خَلَتْkhalatpassed awayمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinithe jinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand the menفِيinالنَّارِl-nārithe FireكُلَّمَاkullamāEvery timeدَخَلَتْdakhalatenteredأُمَّةٌummatuna nationلَعَنَتْlaʿanatit cursedأُخْتَهَاukh'tahāits sister (nation)حَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenادَّارَكُواiddārakūthey had overtaken one anotherفِيهَاfīhāin itجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallقَالَتْqālat(will) sayأُخْرَاهُمْukh'rāhum(the) last of themلِأُولَاهُمْliūlāhumabout the first of themرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseأَضَلُّونَاaḍallūnāmisled usفَءَاتِهِمْfaātihimso give themعَذَابًاʿadhābanpunishmentضِعْفًاḍiʿ'fandoubleمِنَminaofالنَّارِl-nārithe FireقَالَqālaHe (will) sayلِكُلٍّlikullinFor eachضِعْفٌḍiʿ'fun(is) a doubleوَلَكِنْwalākin[and] butلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  39. 39وَقَالَتْwaqālatAnd (will) sayأُولَاهُمْūlāhum(the) first of themلِأُخْرَاهُمْli-ukh'rāhumto (the) last of themفَمَاfamāThen notكَانَkānaisلَكُمْlakumfor youعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usمِنْminanyفَضْلٍfaḍlinsuperiorityفَذُوقُواfadhūqūso tasteالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَكْسِبُونَtaksibūnaearn
  40. 40إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesوَاسْتَكْبَرُواwa-is'takbarūand (were) arrogantعَنْهَاʿanhātowards themلَا(will) notتُفَتَّحُtufattaḥube openedلَهُمْlahumfor themأَبْوَابُabwābu(the) doorsالسَّمَاءِl-samāi(of) the heavenوَلَاwalāand notيَدْخُلُونَyadkhulūnathey will enterالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَلِجَyalijapassesالْجَمَلُl-jamaluthe camelفِيthroughسَمِّsammi(the) eyeالْخِيَاطِl-khiyāṭi(of) the needleوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِيnajzīWe recompenseالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīnathe criminals
  41. 41لَهُمْlahumFor themمِنْminofجَهَنَّمَjahannama(the) Hellمِهَادٌmihādun(is) a bedوَمِنْwaminand fromفَوْقِهِمْfawqihimover themغَوَاشٍghawāshincoveringsوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِيnajzīWe recompenseالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  42. 42وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsلَاnotنُكَلِّفُnukallifuWe burdenنَفْسًاnafsanany soulإِلَّاillāexceptوُسْعَهَاwus'ʿahā(to) its capacityأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
  43. 43وَنَزَعْنَاwanazaʿnāAnd We will removeمَاwhateverفِي(is) inصُدُورِهِمْṣudūrihimtheir breastsمِنْminofغِلٍّghillinmaliceتَجْرِيtajrīFlowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهِمُtaḥtihimuunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversوَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they will sayالْحَمْدُl-ḥamduAll the praiseلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoهَدَانَاhadānāguided usلِهَذَاlihādhāto thisوَمَاwamāand notكُنَّاkunnāwe wereلِنَهْتَدِيَlinahtadiyato receive guidanceلَوْلَاlawlāif notأَنْan[that]هَدَانَاhadānā(had) guided usاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَقَدْlaqadCertainlyجَاءَتْjāatcameرُسُلُrusuluMessengersرَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lordبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthوَنُودُواwanūdūAnd they will be addressedأَنْan[that]تِلْكُمُtil'kumuThisالْجَنَّةُl-janatu(is) Paradiseأُورِثْتُمُوهَاūrith'tumūhāyou have been made to inherit itبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
  44. 44وَنَادَىwanādāAnd will call outأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseأَصْحَابَaṣḥāba(to the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the FireأَنْanthatقَدْqadIndeedوَجَدْنَاwajadnāwe foundمَاwhatوَعَدَنَاwaʿadanā(had) promised usرَبُّنَاrabbunāour LordحَقًّاḥaqqantrueفَهَلْfahalSo haveوَجَدْتُمْwajadttumyou foundمَاwhatوَعَدَwaʿada(was) promisedرَبُّكُمْrabbukum(by) your Lordحَقًّاḥaqqan(to be) trueقَالُواqālūThey will sayنَعَمْnaʿamYesفَأَذَّنَfa-adhanaThen will announceمُؤَذِّنٌmu-adhinunan announcerبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themأَنْan[that]لَعْنَةُlaʿnatu(The) curseاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  45. 45الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَصُدُّونَyaṣuddūnahinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَيَبْغُونَهَاwayabghūnahāand seek in itعِوَجًاʿiwajancrookednessوَهُمْwahumwhile they (are)بِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiraticoncerning the Hereafterكَافِرُونَkāfirūnadisbelievers
  46. 46وَبَيْنَهُمَاwabaynahumāAnd between themحِجَابٌḥijābun(will be) a partitionوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onالْأَعْرَافِl-aʿrāfithe heightsرِجَالٌrijālun(will be) menيَعْرِفُونَyaʿrifūnarecognizingكُلًّاkullanallبِسِيمَاهُمْbisīmāhumby their marksوَنَادَوْاwanādawAnd they will call outأَصْحَابَaṣḥāba(to the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) ParadiseأَنْanthatسَلَامٌsalāmunPeaceعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum(be) upon youلَمْlamNotيَدْخُلُوهَاyadkhulūhāthey have entered itوَهُمْwahumbut theyيَطْمَعُونَyaṭmaʿūnahope
  47. 47وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenصُرِفَتْṣurifatare turnedأَبْصَارُهُمْabṣāruhumtheir eyesتِلْقَاءَtil'qāatowardsأَصْحَابِaṣḥābi(the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireقَالُواqālūthey (will) sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!لَا(Do) notتَجْعَلْنَاtajʿalnāplace usمَعَmaʿawithالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  48. 48وَنَادَىwanādāAnd (will) call outأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(the) companionsالْأَعْرَافِl-aʿrāfi(of) the heightsرِجَالًاrijālan(to) menيَعْرِفُونَهُمْyaʿrifūnahumwhom they recognizeبِسِيمَاهُمْbisīmāhumby their marksقَالُواqālūsayingمَاNotأَغْنَىaghnā(has) availedعَنْكُمْʿankum[to] youجَمْعُكُمْjamʿukumyour gatheringوَمَاwamāand whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereتَسْتَكْبِرُونَtastakbirūnaarrogant (about)
  49. 49أَهَؤُلَاءِahāulāiAre theseالَّذِينَalladhīnathe ones whomأَقْسَمْتُمْaqsamtumyou had swornلَا(that) notيَنَالُهُمُyanāluhumu(will) grant themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinMercyادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseلَا(There will be) noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَلَاwalāand notأَنْتُمْantumyouتَحْزَنُونَtaḥzanūnawill grieve
  50. 50وَنَادَىwanādāAnd (will) call outأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireأَصْحَابَaṣḥāba(to the) companionsالْجَنَّةِl-janati(of) Paradiseأَنْan[that]أَفِيضُواafīḍūPourعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usمِنَmina[of]الْمَاءِl-māi(some) waterأَوْaworمِمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumu(has been) provided (to) youاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahقَالُواqālūThey (will) sayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahحَرَّمَهُمَاḥarramahumāhas forbidden bothعَلَىʿalātoالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  51. 51الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtookدِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religionلَهْوًاlahwan(as) an amusementوَلَعِبًاwalaʿibanand playوَغَرَّتْهُمُwagharrathumuand deluded themالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatuthe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldفَالْيَوْمَfal-yawmaSo todayنَنْسَاهُمْnansāhumWe forget themكَمَاkamāasنَسُواnasūthey forgotلِقَاءَliqāa(the) meetingيَوْمِهِمْyawmihim(of) their dayهَذَاhādhāthisوَمَاwamāand [what]كَانُواkānū(as) they used toبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Versesيَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnathey reject
  52. 52وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجِئْنَاهُمْji'nāhumWe had brought (to) themبِكِتَابٍbikitābina Bookفَصَّلْنَاهُfaṣṣalnāhuwhich We have explainedعَلَىʿalāwithعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeهُدًىhudana guidanceوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand mercyلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  53. 53هَلْhalDoيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waitإِلَّاillāexceptتَأْوِيلَهُtawīlahu(for) its fulfillmentيَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَأْتِيyatī(will) comeتَأْوِيلُهُtawīluhuits fulfillmentيَقُولُyaqūluwill sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنَسُوهُnasūhuhad forgotten itمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeقَدْqadVerilyجَاءَتْjāathad comeرُسُلُrusulu(the) Messengersرَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lordبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthفَهَلْfahalso are (there)لَنَاlanāfor usمِنْminanyشُفَعَاءَshufaʿāaintercessorsفَيَشْفَعُواfayashfaʿūso (that) they intercedeلَنَاlanāfor usأَوْaworنُرَدُّnuradduwe are sent backفَنَعْمَلَfanaʿmalaso (that) we do (deeds)غَيْرَghayraother thanالَّذِيalladhīthat whichكُنَّاkunnāwe used toنَعْمَلُnaʿmaludoقَدْqadVerilyخَسِرُواkhasirūthey lostأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesوَضَلَّwaḍallaand strayedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themمَاwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
  54. 54إِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكُمُrabbakumuyour Lordاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthفِيinسِتَّةِsittatisixأَيَّامٍayyāminepochsثُمَّthummathenاسْتَوَىis'tawāHe ascendedعَلَىʿalāonالْعَرْشِl-ʿarshithe Throneيُغْشِيyugh'shīHe coversاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightالنَّهَارَl-nahāra(with) the dayيَطْلُبُهُyaṭlubuhuseeking itحَثِيثًاḥathīthanrapidlyوَالشَّمْسَwal-shamsaand the sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonوَالنُّجُومَwal-nujūmaand the starsمُسَخَّرَاتٍmusakharātinsubjectedبِأَمْرِهِbi-amrihiby His commandأَلَاalāUnquestionablyلَهُlahufor Himالْخَلْقُl-khalqu(is) the creationوَالْأَمْرُwal-amruand the commandتَبَارَكَtabārakablessedاللَّهُl-lahu(is) AllahرَبُّrabbuLordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  55. 55ادْعُواid'ʿūCall uponرَبَّكُمْrabbakumyour Lordتَضَرُّعًاtaḍarruʿanhumblyوَخُفْيَةًwakhuf'yatanand privatelyإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُعْتَدِينَl-muʿ'tadīnathe transgressors
  56. 56وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُفْسِدُواtuf'sidūcause corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِصْلَاحِهَاiṣ'lāḥihāits reformationوَادْعُوهُwa-id'ʿūhuAnd call Himخَوْفًاkhawfan(in) fearوَطَمَعًاwaṭamaʿanand hopeإِنَّinnaIndeedرَحْمَتَraḥmata(the) Mercyاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahقَرِيبٌqarībun(is) nearمِنَminaforالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
  57. 57وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoيُرْسِلُyur'silusendsالرِّيَاحَl-riyāḥathe windsبُشْرًاbush'ran(as) glad tidingsبَيْنَbaynafromيَدَيْyadaybeforeرَحْمَتِهِraḥmatihiHis Mercyحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenأَقَلَّتْaqallatthey have carriedسَحَابًاsaḥābancloudsثِقَالًاthiqālanheavyسُقْنَاهُsuq'nāhuWe drive themلِبَلَدٍlibaladinto a landمَيِّتٍmayyitindeadفَأَنْزَلْنَاfa-anzalnāthen We send downبِهِbihifrom itالْمَاءَl-māathe waterفَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We bring forthبِهِbihifrom itمِنْmin(of)كُلِّkulliall (kinds)الثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarāti(of) fruitsكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنُخْرِجُnukh'rijuWe will bring forthالْمَوْتَىl-mawtāthe deadلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnatake heed
  58. 58وَالْبَلَدُwal-baladuAnd the landالطَّيِّبُl-ṭayibu[the] pureيَخْرُجُyakhrujucomes forthنَبَاتُهُnabātuhuits vegetationبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionرَبِّهِrabbihi(of) its Lordوَالَّذِيwa-alladhībut whichخَبُثَkhabuthais badلَا(does) notيَخْرُجُyakhrujucome forthإِلَّاillāexceptنَكِدًاnakidan(with) difficultyكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَشْكُرُونَyashkurūnawho are grateful
  59. 59لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentنُوحًاnūḥanNuhإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleفَقَالَfaqālaand he saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاnotلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَخَافُakhāfu[I] fearعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youعَذَابَʿadhābapunishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of the) DayعَظِيمٍʿaẓīminGreat
  60. 60قَالَqālaSaidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsمِنْminofقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weلَنَرَاكَlanarākasurely see youفِيinضَلَالٍḍalālinerrorمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  61. 61قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleلَيْسَlaysa(There is) noبِيin meضَلَالَةٌḍalālatunerrorوَلَكِنِّيwalākinnībut I amرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمِنْminfromرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  62. 62أُبَلِّغُكُمْuballighukumI convey to youرِسَالَاتِrisālātithe Messagesرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordوَأَنْصَحُwa-anṣaḥuand [I] adviseلَكُمْlakum[to] youوَأَعْلَمُwa-aʿlamuand I knowمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou know
  63. 63أَوَعَجِبْتُمْawaʿajib'tumDo you wonderأَنْanthatجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youذِكْرٌdhik'runa reminderمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordعَلَىʿalāonرَجُلٍrajulina manمِنْكُمْminkumamong youلِيُنْذِرَكُمْliyundhirakumthat he may warn youوَلِتَتَّقُواwalitattaqūand that you may fearوَلَعَلَّكُمْwalaʿallakumand so that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
  64. 64فَكَذَّبُوهُfakadhabūhuBut they denied himفَأَنْجَيْنَاهُfa-anjaynāhuso We saved himوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoمَعَهُmaʿahu(were) with himفِيinالْفُلْكِl-ful'kithe shipوَأَغْرَقْنَاwa-aghraqnāAnd We drownedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur VersesإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyكَانُواkānūwereقَوْمًاqawmana peopleعَمِينَʿamīnablind
  65. 65وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toعَادٍʿādinAadأَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brotherهُودًاhūdanHudقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاnotلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear (Allah)
  66. 66قَالَqālaSaidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminfromقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleإِنَّاinnāIndeed weلَنَرَاكَlanarākasurely see youفِيinسَفَاهَةٍsafāhatinfoolishnessوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed weلَنَظُنُّكَlanaẓunnuka[we] think youمِنَmina(are) ofالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
  67. 67قَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleلَيْسَlaysa(There is) noبِيin meسَفَاهَةٌsafāhatunfoolishnessوَلَكِنِّيwalākinnībut I amرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمِنْminfromرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  68. 68أُبَلِّغُكُمْuballighukumI convey to youرِسَالَاتِrisālātiMessagesرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordوَأَنَاwa-anāand I amلَكُمْlakumto youنَاصِحٌnāṣiḥunan adviserأَمِينٌamīnuntrustworthy
  69. 69أَوَعَجِبْتُمْawaʿajib'tumDoأَنْanyou wonderجَاءَكُمْjāakumthatذِكْرٌdhik'runhas come to youمِنْmina reminderرَبِّكُمْrabbikumfromعَلَىʿalāyour Lordرَجُلٍrajulinonمِنْكُمْminkuma manلِيُنْذِرَكُمْliyundhirakumamong youوَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūthat he may warn youإِذْidhAnd rememberجَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakumwhenخُلَفَاءَkhulafāaHe made youمِنْminsuccessorsبَعْدِbaʿdiafterقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleنُوحٍnūḥin(of) Nuhوَزَادَكُمْwazādakumand increased youفِيinالْخَلْقِl-khalqithe statureبَسْطَةًbaṣ'ṭatanextensivelyفَاذْكُرُواfa-udh'kurūSo rememberءَالَاءَālāa(the) Bountiesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnasucceed
  70. 70قَالُواqālūThey saidأَجِئْتَنَاaji'tanāHave you come to usلِنَعْبُدَlinaʿbudathat we (should) worshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَحْدَهُwaḥdahuAloneوَنَذَرَwanadharaand we forsakeمَاwhatكَانَkānaused toيَعْبُدُyaʿbuduworshipءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersفَأْتِنَاfatināThen bring usبِمَاbimāof whatتَعِدُنَاtaʿidunāyou promise usإِنْinifكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
  71. 71قَالَqālaHe saidقَدْqadVerilyوَقَعَwaqaʿahas fallenعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordرِجْسٌrij'sunpunishmentوَغَضَبٌwaghaḍabunand angerأَتُجَادِلُونَنِيatujādilūnanīDo you dispute with meفِيconcerningأَسْمَاءٍasmāinnamesسَمَّيْتُمُوهَاsammaytumūhāyou have named themأَنْتُمْantumyouوَءَابَاؤُكُمْwaābāukumand your forefathersمَاNotنَزَّلَnazzala(has been) sent downاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahبِهَاbihāfor itمِنْminanyسُلْطَانٍsul'ṭāninauthorityفَانْتَظِرُواfa-intaẓirūThen waitإِنِّيinnīindeed, I amمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youمِنَminaofالْمُنْتَظِرِينَl-muntaẓirīnathe ones who wait
  72. 72فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُfa-anjaynāhuSo We saved himوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand thoseمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himبِرَحْمَةٍbiraḥmatinby Mercyمِنَّاminnāfrom UsوَقَطَعْنَاwaqaṭaʿnāAnd We cut offدَابِرَdābirathe rootsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَمَاwamāand notكَانُواkānūthey wereمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  73. 73وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toثَمُودَthamūdaThamudأَخَاهُمْakhāhum(We sent) their brotherصَالِحًاṣāliḥanSalihقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاnotلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimقَدْqadVerilyجَاءَتْكُمْjāatkumhas come to youبَيِّنَةٌbayyinatuna clear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour LordهَذِهِhādhihiThisنَاقَةُnāqatu(is) a she-camelاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَكُمْlakum(it is) for youءَايَةًāyatana SignفَذَرُوهَاfadharūhāSo you leave herتَأْكُلْtakul(to) eatفِيonأَرْضِarḍi(the) earthاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَمَسُّوهَاtamassūhātouch herبِسُوءٍbisūinwith harmفَيَأْخُذَكُمْfayakhudhakumlest seizes youعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  74. 74وَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūAnd rememberإِذْidhwhenجَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakumHe made youخُلَفَاءَkhulafāasuccessorsمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterعَادٍʿādinAadوَبَوَّأَكُمْwabawwa-akumand settled youفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthتَتَّخِذُونَtattakhidhūnaYou takeمِنْminfromسُهُولِهَاsuhūlihāits plainsقُصُورًاquṣūranpalacesوَتَنْحِتُونَwatanḥitūnaand you carve outالْجِبَالَl-jibālathe mountainsبُيُوتًاbuyūtan(as) homesفَاذْكُرُواfa-udh'kurūSo rememberءَالَاءَālāa(the) Bountiesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَعْثَوْاtaʿthawact wickedlyفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍi(the) earthمُفْسِدِينَmuf'sidīnaspreading corruption
  75. 75قَالَqālaSaidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoاسْتَكْبَرُواis'takbarūwere arrogantمِنْminamongقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoاسْتُضْعِفُواus'tuḍ'ʿifūwere oppressedلِمَنْliman[to] those whoءَامَنَāmanabelievedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themأَتَعْلَمُونَataʿlamūnaDo you knowأَنَّannathatصَالِحًاṣāliḥanSalihمُرْسَلٌmur'salun(is the) one sentمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordقَالُواqālūThey saidإِنَّاinnāIndeed weبِمَاbimāin whatأُرْسِلَur'silahe has been sentبِهِbihiwith [it]مُؤْمِنُونَmu'minūna(are) believers
  76. 76قَالَqālaSaidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاسْتَكْبَرُواis'takbarūwere arrogantإِنَّاinnāIndeed weبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīin that whichءَامَنْتُمْāmantumyou believeبِهِbihiin itكَافِرُونَkāfirūna(are) disbelievers
  77. 77فَعَقَرُواfaʿaqarūThen they hamstrungالنَّاقَةَl-nāqatathe she-camelوَعَتَوْاwaʿatawand (were) insolentعَنْʿantowardsأَمْرِamri(the) commandرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidيَاصَالِحُyāṣāliḥuO Salihائْتِنَاi'tināBring usبِمَاbimāwhatتَعِدُنَاtaʿidunāyou promise usإِنْinifكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers
  78. 78فَأَخَذَتْهُمُfa-akhadhathumuSo seized themالرَّجْفَةُl-rajfatuthe earthquakeفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūthen they becameفِيinدَارِهِمْdārihimtheir homesجَاثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone
  79. 79فَتَوَلَّىfatawallāSo he turned awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَقَالَwaqālaand he saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!لَقَدْlaqadVerilyأَبْلَغْتُكُمْablaghtukumI have conveyed to youرِسَالَةَrisālata(the) Messageرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordوَنَصَحْتُwanaṣaḥtuand [I] advisedلَكُمْlakum[to] youوَلَكِنْwalākinbutلَاnotتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnayou likeالنَّاصِحِينَl-nāṣiḥīnathe advisers
  80. 80وَلُوطًاwalūṭanAnd Lutإِذْidhwhenقَالَqālahe saidلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleأَتَأْتُونَatatūnaDo you commitالْفَاحِشَةَl-fāḥishata(such) immoralityمَاnotسَبَقَكُمْsabaqakumhas preceded youبِهَاbihāthereinمِنْminanyأَحَدٍaḥadinoneمِنَminaofالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
  81. 81إِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youلَتَأْتُونَlatatūnayou approachالرِّجَالَl-rijālathe menشَهْوَةًshahwatanlustfullyمِنْminfromدُونِdūniinstead ofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenبَلْbalNayأَنْتُمْantumyouقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleمُسْرِفُونَmus'rifūna(who) commit excesses
  82. 82وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawasجَوَابَjawāba(the) answerقَوْمِهِqawmihi(of) his peopleإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidأَخْرِجُوهُمْakhrijūhumDrive them outمِنْminofقَرْيَتِكُمْqaryatikumyour townإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed theyأُنَاسٌunāsun(are) peopleيَتَطَهَّرُونَyataṭahharūnawho keep themselves pure
  83. 83فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُfa-anjaynāhuSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُwa-ahlahuand his familyإِلَّاillāexceptامْرَأَتَهُim'ra-atahuhis wifeكَانَتْkānatshe wasمِنَminaofالْغَابِرِينَl-ghābirīnathose who stayed behind
  84. 84وَأَمْطَرْنَاwa-amṭarnāAnd We showeredعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themمَطَرًاmaṭarana rainفَانْظُرْfa-unẓurSo seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
  85. 85وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toمَدْيَنَmadyanaMadyanأَخَاهُمْakhāhumhis brotherشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibقَالَqālaHe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!اعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمَاnotلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنْminanyإِلَهٍilāhingodغَيْرُهُghayruhuother than HimقَدْqadVerilyجَاءَتْكُمْjāatkumhas came to youبَيِّنَةٌbayyinatuna clear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordفَأَوْفُواfa-awfūSo give fullالْكَيْلَl-kayla[the] measureوَالْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand the weightوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَبْخَسُواtabkhasūdepriveالنَّاسَl-nāsa[the] peopleأَشْيَاءَهُمْashyāahumin their thingsوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُفْسِدُواtuf'sidūcause corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِصْلَاحِهَاiṣ'lāḥihāits reformationذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  86. 86وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْعُدُواtaqʿudūsitبِكُلِّbikullion everyصِرَاطٍṣirāṭinpathتُوعِدُونَtūʿidūnathreateningوَتَصُدُّونَwataṣuddūnaand hinderingعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمَنْman(those) whoءَامَنَāmanabelieveبِهِbihiin Himوَتَبْغُونَهَاwatabghūnahāand seeking (to make) itعِوَجًاʿiwajancrookedوَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūAnd rememberإِذْidhwhenكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereقَلِيلًاqalīlanfewفَكَثَّرَكُمْfakatharakumand He increased youوَانْظُرُواwa-unẓurūAnd seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
  87. 87وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكَانَkāna(there) isطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْكُمْminkumamong youءَامَنُواāmanū(who has) believedبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīin that whichأُرْسِلْتُur'sil'tuI have been sentبِهِbihiwith [it]وَطَائِفَةٌwaṭāifatunand a groupلَمْlamnotيُؤْمِنُواyu'minūthey believeفَاصْبِرُواfa-iṣ'birūthen be patientحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَحْكُمَyaḥkumajudgesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heخَيْرُkhayru(is the) Bestالْحَاكِمِينَl-ḥākimīna(of) [the] Judges
  88. 88قَالَqālaSaidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoاسْتَكْبَرُواis'takbarūwere arrogantمِنْminamongقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleلَنُخْرِجَنَّكَlanukh'rijannakaWe will surely drive you outيَاشُعَيْبُyāshuʿaybuO Shuaib!وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanū(have) believedمَعَكَmaʿakawith youمِنْminfromقَرْيَتِنَاqaryatināour cityأَوْaworلَتَعُودُنَّlataʿūdunnayou must returnفِيtoمِلَّتِنَاmillatināour religionقَالَqālaHe saidأَوَلَوْawalawEven ifكُنَّاkunnāwe areكَارِهِينَkārihīna(the) ones who hate (it)
  89. 89قَدِqadiVerilyافْتَرَيْنَاif'taraynāwe would have fabricatedعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieإِنْinifعُدْنَاʿud'nāwe returnedفِيinمِلَّتِكُمْmillatikumyour religionبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]نَجَّانَاnajjānāsaved usاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itوَمَاwamāAnd notيَكُونُyakūnuit isلَنَاlanāfor usأَنْanthatنَعُودَnaʿūdawe returnفِيهَاfīhāin itإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيَشَاءَyashāawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahرَبُّنَاrabbunāour LordوَسِعَwasiʿaEncompassesرَبُّنَاrabbunā(by) Our Lordكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledgeعَلَىʿalāUponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahتَوَكَّلْنَاtawakkalnāwe put our trustرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordافْتَحْif'taḥDecideبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usوَبَيْنَwabaynaand betweenقَوْمِنَاqawmināour peopleبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthوَأَنْتَwa-antaand Youخَيْرُkhayru(are the) Bestالْفَاتِحِينَl-fātiḥīna(of) those who Decide
  90. 90وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminamongقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleلَئِنِla-iniIfاتَّبَعْتُمْittabaʿtumyou followشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed youإِذًاidhanthenلَخَاسِرُونَlakhāsirūna(will be) certainly losers
  91. 91فَأَخَذَتْهُمُfa-akhadhathumuThen seized themالرَّجْفَةُl-rajfatuthe earthquakeفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūthen they becameفِيinدَارِهِمْdārihimtheir home(s)جَاثِمِينَjāthimīnafallen prone
  92. 92الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibكَأَنْka-an(became) as ifلَمْlamnotيَغْنَوْاyaghnawthey (had) livedفِيهَاfīhāthereinالَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedشُعَيْبًاshuʿaybanShuaibكَانُواkānūthey wereهُمُhumuthemالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
  93. 93فَتَوَلَّىfatawallāSo he turned awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَقَالَwaqālaand saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!لَقَدْlaqadVerilyأَبْلَغْتُكُمْablaghtukumI (have) conveyed to youرِسَالَاتِrisālāti(the) Messagesرَبِّيrabbī(of) my Lordوَنَصَحْتُwanaṣaḥtuand advisedلَكُمْlakum[to] youفَكَيْفَfakayfaSo how couldءَاسَىāsāI grieveعَلَىʿalāforقَوْمٍqawmina peopleكَافِرِينَkāfirīna(who are) disbelievers
  94. 94وَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentفِيinقَرْيَةٍqaryatina cityمِنْmin[of]نَبِيٍّnabiyyinany ProphetإِلَّاillāexceptأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe seizedأَهْلَهَاahlahāits peopleبِالْبَأْسَاءِbil-basāiwith adversityوَالضَّرَّاءِwal-ḍarāiand hardshipلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَضَّرَّعُونَyaḍḍarraʿūna(become) humble
  95. 95ثُمَّthummaThenبَدَّلْنَاbaddalnāWe changedمَكَانَmakāna(in) placeالسَّيِّئَةِl-sayi-ati(of) the badالْحَسَنَةَl-ḥasanatathe goodحَتَّىḥattāuntilعَفَوْاʿafawthey increasedوَقَالُواwaqālūand saidقَدْqadVerilyمَسَّmassa(had) touchedءَابَاءَنَاābāanāour forefathersالضَّرَّاءُl-ḍarāuthe adversityوَالسَّرَّاءُwal-sarāuand the easeفَأَخَذْنَاهُمْfa-akhadhnāhumSo We seized themبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyوَهُمْwahumwhile theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnaperceive
  96. 96وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّanna[that]أَهْلَahlapeopleالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the citiesءَامَنُواāmanū(had) believedوَاتَّقَوْاwa-ittaqawand feared Allahلَفَتَحْنَاlafataḥnāsurely We (would have) openedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themبَرَكَاتٍbarakātinblessingsمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَلَكِنْwalākinbutكَذَّبُواkadhabūthey deniedفَأَخَذْنَاهُمْfa-akhadhnāhumSo We seized themبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
  97. 97أَفَأَمِنَafa-aminaThen did feel secureأَهْلُahlu(the) peopleالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the citiesأَنْanthatيَأْتِيَهُمْyatiyahumcomes to themبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentبَيَاتًاbayātan(at) nightوَهُمْwahumwhile theyنَائِمُونَnāimūna(were) asleep
  98. 98أَوَأَمِنَawa-aminaOr felt secureأَهْلُahlu(the) peopleالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the citiesأَنْanthatيَأْتِيَهُمْyatiyahumcomes to themبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentضُحًىḍuḥan(in) daylightوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūna(were) playing
  99. 99أَفَأَمِنُواafa-aminūThen did they feel secureمَكْرَmakra(from the) planاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahفَلَاfalāBut notيَأْمَنُyamanufeel secureمَكْرَmakra(from the) planاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِلَّاillāexceptالْقَوْمُl-qawmuthe peopleالْخَاسِرُونَl-khāsirūna(who are) the losers
  100. 100أَوَلَمْawalamWould it notيَهْدِyahdiguideلِلَّذِينَlilladhīna[for] those whoيَرِثُونَyarithūnainheritالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe landمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterأَهْلِهَاahlihāits peopleأَنْanthatلَوْlawifنَشَاءُnashāuWe willedأَصَبْنَاهُمْaṣabnāhumWe (could) afflict themبِذُنُوبِهِمْbidhunūbihimfor their sinsوَنَطْبَعُwanaṭbaʿuand We put a sealعَلَىʿalāoverقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsفَهُمْfahumso theyلَا(do) notيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnahear
  101. 101تِلْكَtil'kaTheseالْقُرَىl-qurā(were) the citiesنَقُصُّnaquṣṣuWe relateعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْminofأَنْبَائِهَاanbāihātheir newsوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to themرُسُلُهُمْrusuluhumtheir Messengersبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith clear proofsفَمَاfamābut notكَانُواkānūthey wereلِيُؤْمِنُواliyu'minūto believeبِمَاbimāin whatكَذَّبُواkadhabūthey (had) deniedمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيَطْبَعُyaṭbaʿu(has been) put a sealاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahعَلَىʿalāonقُلُوبِqulūbi(the) heartsالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīna(of) the disbelievers
  102. 102وَمَاwamāAnd notوَجَدْنَاwajadnāWe foundلِأَكْثَرِهِمْli-aktharihimfor most of themمِنْmin[of]عَهْدٍʿahdin(any) covenantوَإِنْwa-inButوَجَدْنَاwajadnāWe foundأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَفَاسِقِينَlafāsiqīnacertainly defiantly disobedient
  103. 103ثُمَّthummaThenبَعَثْنَاbaʿathnāWe sentمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themمُوسَىmūsāMusaبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināwith Our Signsإِلَىilātoفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawnaFiraunوَمَلَإيهِwamala-ihiand his chiefsفَظَلَمُواfaẓalamūBut they were unjustبِهَاbihāto themفَانْظُرْfa-unẓurSo seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
  104. 104وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidمُوسَىmūsāMusaيَافِرْعَوْنُyāfir'ʿawnuO FiraunإِنِّيinnīIndeed, I amرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمِنْminfromرَبِّrabbi(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  105. 105حَقِيقٌḥaqīqunObligatedعَلَىʿalāonأَنْanthatلَاnotأَقُولَaqūlaI sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَّاillāexceptالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthقَدْqadVerilyجِئْتُكُمْji'tukumI (have) come to youبِبَيِّنَةٍbibayyinatinwith a clear Signمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordفَأَرْسِلْfa-arsilso sendمَعِيَmaʿiyawith meبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
  106. 106قَالَqālaHe saidإِنْinIfكُنْتَkuntayou haveجِئْتَji'tacomeبِءَايَةٍbiāyatinwith a Signفَأْتِfatithen bringبِهَاbihāitإِنْinifكُنْتَkuntayou areمِنَminaofالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthful
  107. 107فَأَلْقَىfa-alqāSo he threwعَصَاهُʿaṣāhuhis staffفَإِذَاfa-idhāand suddenlyهِيَhiyaitثُعْبَانٌthuʿ'bānun(was) a serpentمُبِينٌmubīnunmanifest
  108. 108وَنَزَعَwanazaʿaAnd he drew outيَدَهُyadahuhis handفَإِذَاfa-idhāand suddenlyهِيَhiyaitبَيْضَاءُbayḍāu(was) whiteلِلنَّاظِرِينَlilnnāẓirīnafor the observers
  109. 109قَالَqālaSaidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsمِنْminofقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) FiraunإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَسَاحِرٌlasāḥirun(is) surely a magicianعَلِيمٌʿalīmunlearned
  110. 110يُرِيدُyurīduHe wantsأَنْantoيُخْرِجَكُمْyukh'rijakumdrive you outمِنْminfromأَرْضِكُمْarḍikumyour landفَمَاذَاfamādhāso whatتَأْمُرُونَtamurūna(do) you instruct
  111. 111قَالُواqālūThey saidأَرْجِهْarjihPostpone himوَأَخَاهُwa-akhāhuand his brotherوَأَرْسِلْwa-arsiland sendفِيinالْمَدَائِنِl-madāinithe citiesحَاشِرِينَḥāshirīnagatherers
  112. 112يَأْتُوكَyatūkaThey (will) bring to youبِكُلِّbikulli[with] everyسَاحِرٍsāḥirinmagicianعَلِيمٍʿalīminlearned
  113. 113وَجَاءَwajāaSo cameالسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magiciansفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(to) FiraunقَالُواqālūThey saidإِنَّinnaIndeedلَنَاlanāfor usلَأَجْرًاla-ajransurely (will be) a rewardإِنْinifكُنَّاkunnāwe areنَحْنُnaḥnu[we]الْغَالِبِينَl-ghālibīnathe victors
  114. 114قَالَqālaHe saidنَعَمْnaʿamYesوَإِنَّكُمْwa-innakumand indeed youلَمِنَlaminasurely (will be) ofالْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathe ones who are near
  115. 115قَالُواqālūThey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO MusaإِمَّاimmāWhetherأَنْan[that]تُلْقِيَtul'qiyayou throwوَإِمَّاwa-immāorأَنْan[that]نَكُونَnakūnawe will beنَحْنُnaḥnu[we]الْمُلْقِينَl-mul'qīnathe ones to throw
  116. 116قَالَqālaHe saidأَلْقُواalqūThrowفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenأَلْقَوْاalqawthey threwسَحَرُواsaḥarūthey bewitchedأَعْيُنَaʿyuna(the) eyesالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleوَاسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْwa-is'tarhabūhumand terrified themوَجَاءُوwajāūand came (up)بِسِحْرٍbisiḥ'rinwith a magicعَظِيمٍʿaẓīmingreat
  117. 117وَأَوْحَيْنَاwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspiredإِلَىilātoمُوسَىmūsāMusaأَنْanthatأَلْقِalqiThrowعَصَاكَʿaṣākayour staffفَإِذَاfa-idhāand suddenlyهِيَhiyaitتَلْقَفُtalqafuswallow(ed)مَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَyafikūnathey (were) falsifying
  118. 118فَوَقَعَfawaqaʿaSo was establishedالْحَقُّl-ḥaquthe truthوَبَطَلَwabaṭalaand became futileمَاwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  119. 119فَغُلِبُواfaghulibūSo they were defeatedهُنَالِكَhunālikathereوَانْقَلَبُواwa-inqalabūand returnedصَاغِرِينَṣāghirīnahumiliated
  120. 120وَأُلْقِيَwa-ul'qiyaAnd fell downالسَّحَرَةُl-saḥaratuthe magiciansسَاجِدِينَsājidīnaprostrate
  121. 121قَالُواqālūThey saidءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِرَبِّbirabbiin (the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  122. 122رَبِّrabbiLordمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musaوَهَارُونَwahārūnaand Harun
  123. 123قَالَqālaSaidفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunءَامَنْتُمْāmantumYou believedبِهِbihiin himقَبْلَqablabeforeأَنْan[that]ءَاذَنَādhanaI give permissionلَكُمْlakumto youإِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَمَكْرٌlamakrun(is) surely a plotمَكَرْتُمُوهُmakartumūhuyou have plotted itفِيinالْمَدِينَةِl-madīnatithe cityلِتُخْرِجُواlitukh'rijūso that you may drive outمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itأَهْلَهَاahlahāits peopleفَسَوْفَfasawfaBut soonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
  124. 124لَأُقَطِّعَنَّla-uqaṭṭiʿannaI will surely cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْaydiyakumyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمْwa-arjulakumand your feetمِنْminofخِلَافٍkhilāfinopposite (sides)ثُمَّthummaThenلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْla-uṣallibannakumI will surely crucify youأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
  125. 125قَالُواqālūThey saidإِنَّاinnāIndeed weإِلَىilātoرَبِّنَاrabbināour Lordمُنْقَلِبُونَmunqalibūna(will) return
  126. 126وَمَاwamāAnd notتَنْقِمُtanqimuyou take revengeمِنَّاminnāfrom usإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believedبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Signsرَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lordلَمَّاlammāwhenجَاءَتْنَاjāatnāthey came to usرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!أَفْرِغْafrighPourعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usصَبْرًاṣabranpatienceوَتَوَفَّنَاwatawaffanāand cause us to dieمُسْلِمِينَmus'limīna(as) Muslims
  127. 127وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidالْمَلَأُl-mala-uthe chiefsمِنْminofقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) FiraunأَتَذَرُatadharuWill you leaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaوَقَوْمَهُwaqawmahuand his peopleلِيُفْسِدُواliyuf'sidūso that they cause corruptionفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَيَذَرَكَwayadharakaand forsake youوَءَالِهَتَكَwaālihatakaand your godsقَالَqālaHe saidسَنُقَتِّلُsanuqattiluWe will killأَبْنَاءَهُمْabnāahumtheir sonsوَنَسْتَحْيِيwanastaḥyīand we will let liveنِسَاءَهُمْnisāahumtheir womenوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed weفَوْقَهُمْfawqahumover themقَاهِرُونَqāhirūna(are) subjugators
  128. 128قَالَqālaSaidمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleاسْتَعِينُواis'taʿīnūSeek helpبِاللَّهِbil-lahifrom Allahوَاصْبِرُواwa-iṣ'birūand be patientإِنَّinnaIndeedالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earthلِلَّهِlillahi(belongs) to AllahيُورِثُهَاyūrithuhāHe causes to inherit itمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis servantsوَالْعَاقِبَةُwal-ʿāqibatuAnd the endلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous
  129. 129قَالُواqālūThey saidأُوذِينَاūdhīnāWe have been harmedمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]تَأْتِيَنَاtatiyanāyou came to usوَمِنْwaminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiand afterمَا[what]جِئْتَنَاji'tanāyou have come to usقَالَqālaHe saidعَسَىʿasāPerhapsرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordأَنْan[that]يُهْلِكَyuh'likawill destroyعَدُوَّكُمْʿaduwwakumyour enemyوَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْwayastakhlifakumand make you successorsفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَيَنْظُرَfayanẓurathen seeكَيْفَkayfahowتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou will do
  130. 130وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe seizedءَالَāla(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunبِالسِّنِينَbil-sinīnawith years (of famine)وَنَقْصٍwanaqṣinand a deficitمِنَminaofالثَّمَرَاتِl-thamarāti[the] fruitsلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَذَّكَّرُونَyadhakkarūnareceive admonition
  131. 131فَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenجَاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالْحَسَنَةُl-ḥasanatuthe goodقَالُواqālūthey saidلَنَاlanāFor usهَذِهِhādhihi(is) thisوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُصِبْهُمْtuṣib'humafflicts themسَيِّئَةٌsayyi-atunbadيَطَّيَّرُواyaṭṭayyarūthey ascribe evil omensبِمُوسَىbimūsāto Musaوَمَنْwamanand whoمَعَهُmaʿahu(were) with himأَلَاalāBeholdإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyطَائِرُهُمْṭāiruhumtheir evil omensعِنْدَʿinda(are) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  132. 132وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidمَهْمَاmahmāWhateverتَأْتِنَاtatināyou bring usبِهِbihitherewithمِنْminofءَايَةٍāyatin(the) signلِتَسْحَرَنَاlitasḥaranāso that you bewitch usبِهَاbihāwith itفَمَاfamāthen notنَحْنُnaḥnuweلَكَlaka(will be) in youبِمُؤْمِنِينَbimu'minīnabelievers
  133. 133فَأَرْسَلْنَاfa-arsalnāSo We sentعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالطُّوفَانَl-ṭūfānathe floodوَالْجَرَادَwal-jarādaand the locustsوَالْقُمَّلَwal-qumalaand the liceوَالضَّفَادِعَwal-ḍafādiʿaand the frogsوَالدَّمَwal-damaand the bloodءَايَاتٍāyātin(as) signsمُفَصَّلَاتٍmufaṣṣalātinmanifestفَاسْتَكْبَرُواfa-is'takbarūbut they showed arroganceوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereقَوْمًاqawmana peopleمُجْرِمِينَmuj'rimīnacriminal
  134. 134وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenوَقَعَwaqaʿafellعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالرِّجْزُl-rij'zuthe punishmentقَالُواqālūthey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!ادْعُud'ʿuInvokeلَنَاlanāfor usرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordبِمَاbimāby whatعَهِدَʿahidaHe has promisedعِنْدَكَʿindakato youلَئِنْla-inIfكَشَفْتَkashaftayou removeعَنَّاʿannāfrom usالرِّجْزَl-rij'zathe punishmentلَنُؤْمِنَنَّlanu'minannasurely we will believeلَكَlaka[for] youوَلَنُرْسِلَنَّwalanur'silannaand surely we will sendمَعَكَmaʿakawith youبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
  135. 135فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenكَشَفْنَاkashafnāWe removedعَنْهُمُʿanhumufrom themالرِّجْزَl-rij'zathe punishmentإِلَىilātillأَجَلٍajalina (fixed) termهُمْhum(which) theyبَالِغُوهُbālighūhuwere to reach [it]إِذَاidhāthenهُمْhumtheyيَنْكُثُونَyankuthūnabroke (the word)
  136. 136فَانْتَقَمْنَاfa-intaqamnāSo We took retributionمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themفَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْfa-aghraqnāhumand We drowned themفِيinالْيَمِّl-yamithe seaبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahumbecause theyكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereعَنْهَاʿanhāto themغَافِلِينَghāfilīnaheedless
  137. 137وَأَوْرَثْنَاwa-awrathnāAnd We made inheritorsالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَانُواkānūwereيُسْتَضْعَفُونَyus'taḍʿafūnaconsidered weakمَشَارِقَmashāriqa(the) eastern (parts)الْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the landوَمَغَارِبَهَاwamaghāribahāand the western (parts) of itالَّتِيallatīwhichبَارَكْنَاbāraknāWe blessedفِيهَاfīhā[in it]وَتَمَّتْwatammatAnd was fulfilledكَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) wordرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe bestعَلَىʿalāforبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelبِمَاbimābecauseصَبَرُواṣabarūthey were patientوَدَمَّرْنَاwadammarnāAnd We destroyedمَاwhatكَانَkānaused toيَصْنَعُyaṣnaʿumakeفِرْعَوْنُfir'ʿawnuFiraunوَقَوْمُهُwaqawmuhuand his peopleوَمَاwamāand whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْرِشُونَyaʿrishūnaerect
  138. 138وَجَاوَزْنَاwajāwaznāAnd We led acrossبِبَنِيbibanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelالْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe seaفَأَتَوْاfa-atawThen they cameعَلَىʿalāuponقَوْمٍqawmina peopleيَعْكُفُونَyaʿkufūnadevotedعَلَىʿalātoأَصْنَامٍaṣnāminidolsلَهُمْlahumof theirsقَالُواqālūThey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musaاجْعَلْij'ʿalMakeلَنَاlanāfor usإِلَهًاilāhana godكَمَاkamālike whatلَهُمْlahumthey haveءَالِهَةٌālihatungodsقَالَqālaHe saidإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed, youقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleتَجْهَلُونَtajhalūnaignorant
  139. 139إِنَّinnaIndeedهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseمُتَبَّرٌmutabbarundestroyedمَا(is) whatهُمْhumtheyفِيهِfīhi(are) in itوَبَاطِلٌwabāṭilunand vainمَا(is) whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  140. 140قَالَqālaHe saidأَغَيْرَaghayraShould other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَبْغِيكُمْabghīkumI seek for youإِلَهًاilāhana godوَهُوَwahuwawhile Heفَضَّلَكُمْfaḍḍalakumhas preferred youعَلَىʿalāoverالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
  141. 141وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَنْجَيْنَاكُمْanjaynākumWe saved youمِنْminfromءَالِāli(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunيَسُومُونَكُمْyasūmūnakumwho were afflicting youسُوءَsūa(with) worstالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi(of) tormentيُقَتِّلُونَyuqattilūnathey were killingأَبْنَاءَكُمْabnāakumyour sonsوَيَسْتَحْيُونَwayastaḥyūnaand letting liveنِسَاءَكُمْnisāakumyour womenوَفِيwafīAnd inذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatبَلَاءٌbalāon(was) a trialمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  142. 142وَوَاعَدْنَاwawāʿadnāAnd We appointedمُوسَىmūsā(for) Musaثَلَاثِينَthalāthīnathirtyلَيْلَةًlaylatannightsوَأَتْمَمْنَاهَاwa-atmamnāhāand We completed themبِعَشْرٍbiʿashrinwith ten (more)فَتَمَّfatammaso was completedمِيقَاتُmīqātu(the) set termرَبِّهِrabbihi(of) his Lordأَرْبَعِينَarbaʿīna(of) fortyلَيْلَةًlaylatannight(s)وَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِأَخِيهِli-akhīhito his brotherهَارُونَhārūnaHarunاخْلُفْنِيukh'luf'nīTake my placeفِيinقَوْمِيqawmīmy peopleوَأَصْلِحْwa-aṣliḥand do rightوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollowسَبِيلَsabīla(the) wayالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīna(of) the corrupters
  143. 143وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenجَاءَjāacameمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِمِيقَاتِنَاlimīqātināto Our appointed placeوَكَلَّمَهُwakallamahuand spoke to himرَبُّهُrabbuhuhis Lordقَالَqālahe saidرَبِّrabbiO my LordأَرِنِيarinīShow meأَنْظُرْanẓur(that) I may lookإِلَيْكَilaykaat YouقَالَqālaHe saidلَنْlanNeverتَرَانِيtarānīyou (can) see Meوَلَكِنِwalākinibutانْظُرْunẓurlookإِلَىilāatالْجَبَلِl-jabalithe mountainفَإِنِfa-ini[then] ifاسْتَقَرَّis'taqarrait remainsمَكَانَهُmakānahuin its placeفَسَوْفَfasawfathenتَرَانِيtarānīyou (will) see MeفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenتَجَلَّىtajallārevealed (His) Gloryرَبُّهُrabbuhuhis Lordلِلْجَبَلِlil'jabalito the mountainجَعَلَهُjaʿalahuHe made itدَكًّاdakkancrumbled to dustوَخَرَّwakharraand fell downمُوسَىmūsāMusaصَعِقًاṣaʿiqanunconsciousفَلَمَّاfalammāAnd whenأَفَاقَafāqahe recoveredقَالَqālahe saidسُبْحَانَكَsub'ḥānakaGlory be to Youتُبْتُtub'tuI turn (in repentance)إِلَيْكَilaykato youوَأَنَاwa-anāand I amأَوَّلُawwalu(the) firstالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers
  144. 144قَالَqālaHe saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iاصْطَفَيْتُكَiṣ'ṭafaytukahave chosen youعَلَىʿalāoverالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleبِرِسَالَاتِيbirisālātīwith My Messagesوَبِكَلَامِيwabikalāmīand with My wordsفَخُذْfakhudhSo takeمَاwhatءَاتَيْتُكَātaytukaI have given youوَكُنْwakunand beمِنَminaamongالشَّاكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe grateful
  145. 145وَكَتَبْنَاwakatabnāAnd We ordained (laws)لَهُlahufor himفِيinالْأَلْوَاحِl-alwāḥithe tabletsمِنْminofكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingمَوْعِظَةًmawʿiẓatanan instructionوَتَفْصِيلًاwatafṣīlanand explanationلِكُلِّlikullifor everyشَيْءٍshayinthingفَخُذْهَاfakhudh'hāSo take themبِقُوَّةٍbiquwwatinwith firmnessوَأْمُرْwamurand orderقَوْمَكَqawmakayour peopleيَأْخُذُواyakhudhū[to] takeبِأَحْسَنِهَاbi-aḥsanihā(the) best of itسَأُورِيكُمْsa-urīkumI will show youدَارَdāra(the) homeالْفَاسِقِينَl-fāsiqīna(of) the defiantly disobedient
  146. 146سَأَصْرِفُsa-aṣrifuI will turn awayعَنْʿanfromءَايَاتِيَāyātiyaMy Signsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَتَكَبَّرُونَyatakabbarūnaare arrogantفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi[the] rightوَإِنْwa-inand ifيَرَوْاyarawthey seeكُلَّkullaeveryءَايَةٍāyatinsignلَاnotيُؤْمِنُواyu'minū(will) they believeبِهَاbihāin itوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَرَوْاyarawthey seeسَبِيلَsabīla(the) wayالرُّشْدِl-rush'di(of) the righteousnessلَاnotيَتَّخِذُوهُyattakhidhūhu(will) they take itسَبِيلًاsabīlan(as) a wayوَإِنْwa-inbut ifيَرَوْاyarawthey seeسَبِيلَsabīla(the) wayالْغَيِّl-ghayi(of) [the] errorيَتَّخِذُوهُyattakhidhūhuthey will take itسَبِيلًاsabīlan(as) a wayذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereعَنْهَاʿanhāof themغَافِلِينَghāfilīnaheedless
  147. 147وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَلِقَاءِwaliqāiand (the) meetingالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterحَبِطَتْḥabiṭatworthlessأَعْمَالُهُمْaʿmāluhum(are) their deedsهَلْhalWillيُجْزَوْنَyuj'zawnathey be recompensedإِلَّاillāexceptمَا(for) whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  148. 148وَاتَّخَذَwa-ittakhadhaAnd tookقَوْمُqawmu(the) peopleمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musaمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter himمِنْminfromحُلِيِّهِمْḥuliyyihimtheir ornamentsعِجْلًاʿij'lana calfجَسَدًاjasadanan imageلَهُlahu[for] itخُوَارٌkhuwārun(had) a lowing soundأَلَمْalamDid notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeأَنَّهُannahuthat itلَا(could) notيُكَلِّمُهُمْyukallimuhumspeak to themوَلَاwalāand notيَهْدِيهِمْyahdīhimguide themسَبِيلًاsabīlan(to) a wayاتَّخَذُوهُittakhadhūhuThey took it (for worship)وَكَانُواwakānūand they wereظَالِمِينَẓālimīnawrongdoers
  149. 149وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenسُقِطَsuqiṭa(it was made to) fallفِيintoأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsوَرَأَوْاwara-awand they sawأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyقَدْqad(had) indeedضَلُّواḍallūgone astrayقَالُواqālūthey saidلَئِنْla-inIfلَمْlamnotيَرْحَمْنَاyarḥamnāhas Mercy on usرَبُّنَاrabbunāOur Lordوَيَغْفِرْwayaghfirand forgiveلَنَاlanā[for] usلَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannawe will surely beمِنَminaamongالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
  150. 150وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenرَجَعَrajaʿareturnedمُوسَىmūsāMusaإِلَىilātoقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleغَضْبَانَghaḍbānaangryأَسِفًاasifanand grievedقَالَqālahe saidبِئْسَمَاbi'samāEvil is whatخَلَفْتُمُونِيkhalaftumūnīyou have done in my placeمِنْminfromبَعْدِيbaʿdīafter meأَعَجِلْتُمْaʿajil'tumWere you impatientأَمْرَamra(over the) matterرَبِّكُمْrabbikum(of) your Lordوَأَلْقَىwa-alqāAnd he cast downالْأَلْوَاحَl-alwāḥathe tabletsوَأَخَذَwa-akhadhaand seizedبِرَأْسِbirasiby headأَخِيهِakhīhihis brotherيَجُرُّهُyajurruhudragging himإِلَيْهِilayhito himselfقَالَqālaHe saidابْنَib'naO sonأُمَّumma(of) my motherإِنَّinnaIndeedالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleاسْتَضْعَفُونِيis'taḍʿafūnīconsidered me weakوَكَادُواwakādūand were about (to)يَقْتُلُونَنِيyaqtulūnanīkill meفَلَاfalāSo (let) notتُشْمِتْtush'mitrejoiceبِيَbiyaover meالْأَعْدَاءَl-aʿdāathe enemiesوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَجْعَلْنِيtajʿalnīplace meمَعَmaʿawithالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(who are) wrongdoing
  151. 151قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiO my Lordاغْفِرْigh'firForgiveلِيmeوَلِأَخِيwali-akhīand my brotherوَأَدْخِلْنَاwa-adkhil'nāand admit usفِيintoرَحْمَتِكَraḥmatikaYour Mercyوَأَنْتَwa-antafor Youأَرْحَمُarḥamu(are) the Most Mercifulالرَّاحِمِينَl-rāḥimīna(of) the merciful
  152. 152إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtookالْعِجْلَl-ʿij'lathe calfسَيَنَالُهُمْsayanāluhumwill reach themغَضَبٌghaḍabunwrathمِنْminfromرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordوَذِلَّةٌwadhillatunand humiliationفِيinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِيnajzīWe recompenseالْمُفْتَرِينَl-muf'tarīnathe ones who invent (falsehood)
  153. 153وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoعَمِلُواʿamilūdoالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātithe evil deedsثُمَّthummathenتَابُواtābūrepentedمِنْminfromبَعْدِهَاbaʿdihāafter thatوَءَامَنُواwaāmanūand believedإِنَّinnaindeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordمِنْminfromبَعْدِهَاbaʿdihāafter thatلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun(is) surely Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  154. 154وَلَمَّاwalammāAnd whenسَكَتَsakatawas calmedعَنْʿanfromمُوسَىmūsāMusaالْغَضَبُl-ghaḍabuthe angerأَخَذَakhadhahe took (up)الْأَلْوَاحَl-alwāḥathe tabletsوَفِيwafīand inنُسْخَتِهَاnus'khatihātheir inscriptionهُدًىhudan(was) guidanceوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand mercyلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoهُمْhum[they]لِرَبِّهِمْlirabbihimof their Lordيَرْهَبُونَyarhabūna(are) fearful
  155. 155وَاخْتَارَwa-ikh'tāraAnd choseمُوسَىmūsāMusaقَوْمَهُqawmahu(from) his peopleسَبْعِينَsabʿīnaseventyرَجُلًاrajulanmenلِمِيقَاتِنَاlimīqātināfor Our appointmentفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenأَخَذَتْهُمُakhadhathumuseized themالرَّجْفَةُl-rajfatuthe earthquakeقَالَqālahe saidرَبِّrabbiO my LordلَوْlawIfشِئْتَshi'tayou (had) willedأَهْلَكْتَهُمْahlaktahumYou (could) have destroyed themمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَإِيَّايَwa-iyyāyaand meأَتُهْلِكُنَاatuh'likunāWould You destroy usبِمَاbimāfor whatفَعَلَfaʿaladidالسُّفَهَاءُl-sufahāuthe foolishمِنَّاminnāamong usإِنْinNotهِيَhiyait (was)إِلَّاillābutفِتْنَتُكَfit'natukaYour trialتُضِلُّtuḍilluYou let go astrayبِهَاbihāby itمَنْmanwhomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willوَتَهْدِيwatahdīand You guideمَنْmanwhomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willأَنْتَantaYouوَلِيُّنَاwaliyyunā(are) our Protectorفَاغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgiveلَنَاlanāusوَارْحَمْنَاwa-ir'ḥamnāand have mercy upon usوَأَنْتَwa-antaand Youخَيْرُkhayru(are) Bestالْغَافِرِينَl-ghāfirīna(of) Forgivers
  156. 156وَاكْتُبْwa-uk'tubAnd ordainلَنَاlanāfor usفِيinهَذِهِhādhihithisالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā[the] worldحَسَنَةًḥasanatangoodوَفِيwafīand inالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe HereafterإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weهُدْنَاhud'nāwe have turnedإِلَيْكَilaykato YouقَالَqālaHe saidعَذَابِيʿadhābīMy punishmentأُصِيبُuṣībuI afflictبِهِbihiwith itمَنْmanwhomأَشَاءُashāuI willوَرَحْمَتِيwaraḥmatībut My Mercyوَسِعَتْwasiʿatencompassesكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingفَسَأَكْتُبُهَاfasa-aktubuhāSo I will ordain itلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoيَتَّقُونَyattaqūna(are) righteousوَيُؤْتُونَwayu'tūnaand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoهُمْhum[they]بِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Versesيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believe
  157. 157الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnafollowالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerالنَّبِيَّl-nabiyathe Prophetالْأُمِّيَّl-umiyathe unletteredالَّذِيalladhīwhomيَجِدُونَهُyajidūnahuthey find himمَكْتُوبًاmaktūbanwrittenعِنْدَهُمْʿindahumwith themفِيinالتَّوْرَاةِl-tawrātithe Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلِwal-injīliand the InjeelيَأْمُرُهُمْyamuruhumHe commands themبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfito the rightوَيَنْهَاهُمْwayanhāhumand forbids themعَنِʿanifromالْمُنْكَرِl-munkarithe wrongوَيُحِلُّwayuḥilluand he makes lawfulلَهُمُlahumufor themالطَّيِّبَاتِl-ṭayibātithe pure thingsوَيُحَرِّمُwayuḥarrimuand makes unlawfulعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimufor themالْخَبَائِثَl-khabāithathe impure thingsوَيَضَعُwayaḍaʿuand he relievesعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themإِصْرَهُمْiṣ'rahumtheir burdenوَالْأَغْلَالَwal-aghlālaand the fettersالَّتِيallatīwhichكَانَتْkānatwereعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaSo those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِهِbihiin himوَعَزَّرُوهُwaʿazzarūhuand honor himوَنَصَرُوهُwanaṣarūhuand help himوَاتَّبَعُواwa-ittabaʿūand followالنُّورَl-nūrathe lightالَّذِيalladhīwhichأُنْزِلَunzilahas been sent downمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himأُولَئِكَulāikaThose (are)هُمُhumu[they]الْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūnathe successful ones
  158. 158قُلْqulSayيَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّاسُl-nāsumankindإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amرَسُولُrasūlu(the) Messengerاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallالَّذِيalladhīthe Oneلَهُlahufor Whomمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthلَا(There is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimيُحْيِيyuḥ'yīHe gives lifeوَيُمِيتُwayumītuand causes deathفَءَامِنُواfaāminūSo believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerالنَّبِيِّl-nabiyithe Prophetالْأُمِّيِّl-umiyithe unletteredالَّذِيalladhīthe one whoيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelievesبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَكَلِمَاتِهِwakalimātihiand His Wordsوَاتَّبِعُوهُwa-ittabiʿūhuand follow himلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna(be) guided
  159. 159وَمِنْwaminAnd amongقَوْمِqawmi(the) peopleمُوسَىmūsā(of) Musaأُمَّةٌummatun(is) a communityيَهْدُونَyahdūna(which) guidesبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith truthوَبِهِwabihiand by itيَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnaestablishes justice
  160. 160وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُwaqaṭṭaʿnāhumuAnd We divided themاثْنَتَيْith'natay(into) twoعَشْرَةَʿashrata(and) ten [i.e. twelve]أَسْبَاطًاasbāṭantribesأُمَمًاumaman(as) communitiesوَأَوْحَيْنَاwa-awḥaynāAnd We inspiredإِلَىilātoمُوسَىmūsāMusaإِذِidhiwhenاسْتَسْقَاهُis'tasqāhuasked him for waterقَوْمُهُqawmuhuhis peopleأَنِani[that]اضْرِبْiḍ'ribStrikeبِعَصَاكَbiʿaṣākawith your staffالْحَجَرَl-ḥajarathe stoneفَانْبَجَسَتْfa-inbajasatThen gushed forthمِنْهُmin'hufrom itاثْنَتَاith'natātwoعَشْرَةَʿashrata(and) ten [i.e. twelve]عَيْنًاʿaynanspringsقَدْqadCertainlyعَلِمَʿalimaknewكُلُّkullueachأُنَاسٍunāsinpeopleمَشْرَبَهُمْmashrabahumtheir drinking placeوَظَلَّلْنَاwaẓallalnāAnd We shadedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimu[on] themالْغَمَامَl-ghamāma(with) the cloudsوَأَنْزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāand We sent downعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon themالْمَنَّl-manathe mannaوَالسَّلْوَىwal-salwāand the quailsكُلُواkulūEatمِنْminfromطَيِّبَاتِṭayyibāti(the) good thingsمَاwhichرَزَقْنَاكُمْrazaqnākumWe have provided youوَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمُونَاẓalamūnāthey wronged Usوَلَكِنْwalākinbutكَانُواkānūthey wereأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahum(to) themselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnadoing wrong
  161. 161وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقِيلَqīlait was saidلَهُمُlahumuto themاسْكُنُواus'kunūLiveهَذِهِhādhihi(in) thisالْقَرْيَةَl-qaryatacityوَكُلُواwakulūand eatمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverشِئْتُمْshi'tumyou wishوَقُولُواwaqūlūand sayحِطَّةٌḥiṭṭatunRepentanceوَادْخُلُواwa-ud'khulūand enterالْبَابَl-bābathe gateسُجَّدًاsujjadanprostratingنَغْفِرْnaghfirWe will forgiveلَكُمْlakumfor youخَطِيءَاتِكُمْkhaṭīātikumyour sinsسَنَزِيدُsanazīduWe will increase (reward)الْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(of) the good-doers
  162. 162فَبَدَّلَfabaddalaBut changedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themقَوْلًاqawlanwordغَيْرَghayraother thanالَّذِيalladhī(that) whichقِيلَqīlawas saidلَهُمْlahumto themفَأَرْسَلْنَاfa-arsalnāSo We sentعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themرِجْزًاrij'zantormentمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey wereيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnadoing wrong
  163. 163وَسْءَلْهُمْwasalhumAnd ask themعَنِʿaniaboutالْقَرْيَةِl-qaryatithe townالَّتِيallatīwhichكَانَتْkānatwasحَاضِرَةَḥāḍiratasituatedالْبَحْرِl-baḥri(by) the seaإِذْidhwhenيَعْدُونَyaʿdūnathey transgressedفِيinالسَّبْتِl-sabtithe (matter of) Sabbathإِذْidhwhenتَأْتِيهِمْtatīhimcame to themحِيتَانُهُمْḥītānuhumtheir fishيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayسَبْتِهِمْsabtihim(of) their Sabbathشُرَّعًاshurraʿanvisiblyوَيَوْمَwayawmaand (on the) dayلَاnotيَسْبِتُونَyasbitūnathey had Sabbathلَا(they did) notتَأْتِيهِمْtatīhimcome to themكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusنَبْلُوهُمْnablūhumWe test themبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey wereيَفْسُقُونَyafsuqūnadefiantly disobeying
  164. 164وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَتْqālatsaidأُمَّةٌummatuna communityمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلِمَlimaWhyتَعِظُونَtaʿiẓūna(do) you preachقَوْمًاqawmana peopleاللَّهُl-lahu(whom) Allahمُهْلِكُهُمْmuh'likuhum(is going to) destroy themأَوْaworمُعَذِّبُهُمْmuʿadhibuhumpunish themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereقَالُواqālūThey saidمَعْذِرَةًmaʿdhiratanTo be absolvedإِلَىilābeforeرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَلَعَلَّهُمْwalaʿallahumand that they mayيَتَّقُونَyattaqūnabecome righteous
  165. 165فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenنَسُواnasūthey forgotمَاwhatذُكِّرُواdhukkirūthey had been remindedبِهِbihiwith [it]أَنْجَيْنَاanjaynāWe savedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَنْهَوْنَyanhawnaforbadeعَنِʿani[from]السُّوءِl-sūithe evilوَأَخَذْنَاwa-akhadhnāand We seizedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinwith a punishmentبَئِيسٍbaīsinwretchedبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey wereيَفْسُقُونَyafsuqūnadefiantly disobeying
  166. 166فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenعَتَوْاʿatawthey exceeded all boundsعَنْʿanaboutمَاwhatنُهُواnuhūthey were forbiddenعَنْهُʿanhufrom itقُلْنَاqul'nāWe saidلَهُمْlahumto themكُونُواkūnūBeقِرَدَةًqiradatanapesخَاسِئِينَkhāsiīnadespised
  167. 167وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenتَأَذَّنَta-adhanadeclaredرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordلَيَبْعَثَنَّlayabʿathannathat He would surely sendعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themإِلَىilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَنْman(those) whoيَسُومُهُمْyasūmuhumwould afflict themسُوءَsūa(with) a grievousالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābi[the] punishmentإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordلَسَرِيعُlasarīʿu(is) surely swiftالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) the retributionوَإِنَّهُwa-innahubut indeed Heلَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun(is) surely Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  168. 168وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْwaqaṭṭaʿnāhumAnd We divided themفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأُمَمًاumaman(as) nationsمِنْهُمُmin'humuAmong themالصَّالِحُونَl-ṣāliḥūna(are) the righteousوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand among themدُونَdūna(are) other thanذَلِكَdhālikathatوَبَلَوْنَاهُمْwabalawnāhumAnd We tested themبِالْحَسَنَاتِbil-ḥasanātiwith the goodوَالسَّيِّئَاتِwal-sayiātiand the badلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
  169. 169فَخَلَفَfakhalafaThen succeededمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themخَلْفٌkhalfunsuccessorsوَرِثُواwarithū(who) inheritedالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيَأْخُذُونَyakhudhūnatakingعَرَضَʿaraḍagoodsهَذَاhādhā(of) thisالْأَدْنَىl-adnāthe lower (life)وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayسَيُغْفَرُsayugh'faruIt will be forgivenلَنَاlanāfor usوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَأْتِهِمْyatihimcomes to themعَرَضٌʿaraḍungoodsمِثْلُهُmith'luhusimilar to itيَأْخُذُوهُyakhudhūhuthey will take itأَلَمْalamWas notيُؤْخَذْyu'khadhtakenعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themمِيثَاقُmīthāquCovenantالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookأَنْanthatلَاnotيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey will sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَّاillāexceptالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَدَرَسُواwadarasūwhile they studiedمَاwhatفِيهِfīhi(is) in itوَالدَّارُwal-dāruAnd the homeالْءَاخِرَةُl-ākhiratu(of) the Hereafterخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoيَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear AllahأَفَلَاafalāSo will notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use intellect
  170. 170وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيُمَسِّكُونَyumassikūnahold fastبِالْكِتَابِbil-kitābito the Bookوَأَقَامُواwa-aqāmūand establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerإِنَّاinnāindeed Weلَا(will) notنُضِيعُnuḍīʿu[We] let go wasteأَجْرَajra(the) rewardالْمُصْلِحِينَl-muṣ'liḥīna(of) the reformers
  171. 171وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenنَتَقْنَاnataqnāWe raisedالْجَبَلَl-jabalathe mountainفَوْقَهُمْfawqahumabove themكَأَنَّهُka-annahuas if it wasظُلَّةٌẓullatuna canopyوَظَنُّواwaẓannūand they thoughtأَنَّهُannahuthat itوَاقِعٌwāqiʿun(would) fallبِهِمْbihimupon themخُذُواkhudhū(We said) TakeمَاwhatءَاتَيْنَاكُمْātaynākumWe have given youبِقُوَّةٍbiquwwatinwith strengthوَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūand rememberمَاwhatفِيهِfīhi(is) in itلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَتَّقُونَtattaqūnafear Allah
  172. 172وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَخَذَakhadha(was) takenرَبُّكَrabbuka(by) your Lordمِنْminfromبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenءَادَمَādama(of) Adamمِنْminfromظُهُورِهِمْẓuhūrihimtheir loinsذُرِّيَّتَهُمْdhurriyyatahumtheir descendantsوَأَشْهَدَهُمْwa-ashhadahumand made them testifyعَلَىʿalāoverأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesأَلَسْتُalastuAm I notبِرَبِّكُمْbirabbikumyour LordقَالُواqālūThey saidبَلَىbalāYesشَهِدْنَاshahid'nāwe have testifiedأَنْanLestتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the ResurrectionإِنَّاinnāIndeedكُنَّاkunnāwe wereعَنْʿanaboutهَذَاhādhāthisغَافِلِينَghāfilīnaunaware
  173. 173أَوْawOrتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَشْرَكَashrakapartners (were) associated (with Allah)ءَابَاؤُنَاābāunā(by) our forefathersمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubefore (us)وَكُنَّاwakunnāand we areذُرِّيَّةًdhurriyyatandescendantsمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themأَفَتُهْلِكُنَاafatuh'likunāSo will You destroy usبِمَاbimāfor whatفَعَلَfaʿaladidالْمُبْطِلُونَl-mub'ṭilūnathe falsifiers
  174. 174وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُفَصِّلُnufaṣṣiluWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesوَلَعَلَّهُمْwalaʿallahumso that they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
  175. 175وَاتْلُwa-ut'luAnd reciteعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themنَبَأَnaba-a(the) storyالَّذِيalladhī(of the) one whomءَاتَيْنَاهُātaynāhuWe gave [him]ءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Versesفَانْسَلَخَfa-insalakhabut he detachedمِنْهَاmin'hā[from] themفَأَتْبَعَهُfa-atbaʿahuso followed himالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanفَكَانَfakānaand he becameمِنَminaofالْغَاوِينَl-ghāwīnathose gone astray
  176. 176وَلَوْwalawAnd ifشِئْنَاshi'nāWe willedلَرَفَعْنَاهُlarafaʿnāhusurely We (could) have raised himبِهَاbihāwith theseوَلَكِنَّهُwalākinnahu[and] but heأَخْلَدَakhladaadheredإِلَىilātoالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَاتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaand followedهَوَاهُhawāhuhis (vain) desiresفَمَثَلُهُfamathaluhuSo his exampleكَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) exampleالْكَلْبِl-kalbi(of) the dogإِنْinifتَحْمِلْtaḥmilyou attackعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[on] himيَلْهَثْyalhathhe lolls out his tongueأَوْaworتَتْرُكْهُtatruk'huif you leave himيَلْهَثْyalhathhe lolls out his tongueذَلِكَdhālikaThatمَثَلُmathalu(is the) exampleالْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the peopleالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātinā[in] Our Signsفَاقْصُصِfa-uq'ṣuṣiSo relateالْقَصَصَl-qaṣaṣathe storyلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَفَكَّرُونَyatafakkarūnareflect
  177. 177سَاءَsāaEvilمَثَلًاmathalan(as) an exampleالْقَوْمُl-qawmu(are) the peopleالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَأَنْفُسَهُمْwa-anfusahumand themselvesكَانُواkānūthey used toيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnawrong
  178. 178مَنْmanWhoeverيَهْدِyahdi(is) guidedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَهُوَfahuwathen heالْمُهْتَدِيl-muh'tadī(is) the guided oneوَمَنْwamanwhile whoeverيُضْلِلْyuḍ'lilHe lets go astrayفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْخَاسِرُونَl-khāsirūna(are) the losers
  179. 179وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyذَرَأْنَاdharanāWe have createdلِجَهَنَّمَlijahannamafor Hellكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنَminaofالْجِنِّl-jinithe jinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand menلَهُمْlahumFor themقُلُوبٌqulūbun(are) heartsلَا(but) notيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnathey understandبِهَاbihāwith themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themأَعْيُنٌaʿyunun(are) eyesلَا(but) notيُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnathey seeبِهَاbihāwith themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themءَاذَانٌādhānun(are) earsلَا(but) notيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnathey hearبِهَاbihāwith themأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseكَالْأَنْعَامِkal-anʿāmi(are) like cattleبَلْbalnayهُمْhumtheyأَضَلُّaḍallu(are) more astrayأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumutheyالْغَافِلُونَl-ghāfilūna(are) the heedless
  180. 180وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahالْأَسْمَاءُl-asmāu(are) the namesالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe most beautifulفَادْعُوهُfa-id'ʿūhuso invoke Himبِهَاbihāby themوَذَرُواwadharūAnd leaveالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُلْحِدُونَyul'ḥidūnadeviateفِيconcerningأَسْمَائِهِasmāihiHis namesسَيُجْزَوْنَsayuj'zawnaThey will be recompensedمَاfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
  181. 181وَمِمَّنْwamimmanAnd of (those) whomخَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe have createdأُمَّةٌummatun(is) a nationيَهْدُونَyahdūnawho guidesبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthوَبِهِwabihiand therebyيَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnathey establish justice
  182. 182وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaBut those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur SignsسَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْsanastadrijuhumWe will gradually lead themمِنْminfromحَيْثُḥaythuwhereلَاnotيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey know
  183. 183وَأُمْلِيwa-um'līAnd I will give respiteلَهُمْlahumto themإِنَّinnaIndeedكَيْدِيkaydīMy planمَتِينٌmatīnun(is) firm
  184. 184أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَتَفَكَّرُواyatafakkarūthey reflectمَاNotبِصَاحِبِهِمْbiṣāḥibihimin their companionمِنْmin[of]جِنَّةٍjinnatin(is) any madnessإِنْinNotهُوَhuwaheإِلَّاillā(is) butنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
  185. 185أَوَلَمْawalamDo notيَنْظُرُواyanẓurūthey lookفِيinمَلَكُوتِmalakūti(the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whatخَلَقَkhalaqahas (been) createdاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahمِنْminofشَيْءٍshayin(every)thingوَأَنْwa-anand thatعَسَىʿasāperhapsأَنْan[that]يَكُونَyakūnahasقَدِqadiverilyاقْتَرَبَiq'tarabacome nearأَجَلُهُمْajaluhumtheir termفَبِأَيِّfabi-ayyiSo in whatحَدِيثٍḥadīthinstatementبَعْدَهُbaʿdahuafter thisيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawill they believe
  186. 186مَنْmanWhoeverيُضْلِلِyuḍ'lili(is) let go astrayاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noهَادِيَhādiyaguideلَهُlahufor himوَيَذَرُهُمْwayadharuhumAnd He leaves themفِيinطُغْيَانِهِمْṭugh'yānihimtheir transgressionيَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawandering blindly
  187. 187يَسْءَلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youعَنِʿaniaboutالسَّاعَةِl-sāʿatithe Hourأَيَّانَayyānawhen will beمُرْسَاهَاmur'sāhāits appointed timeقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyعِلْمُهَاʿil'muhāits knowledgeعِنْدَʿinda(is) withرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordلَاno (one)يُجَلِّيهَاyujallīhācan reveal [it]لِوَقْتِهَاliwaqtihāits timeإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimثَقُلَتْthaqulatIt lays heavilyفِيinالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthلَاNotتَأْتِيكُمْtatīkumwill it come to youإِلَّاillābutبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyيَسْءَلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youكَأَنَّكَka-annakaas if youحَفِيٌّḥafiyyun(were) well informedعَنْهَاʿanhāabout itقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyعِلْمُهَاʿil'muhāits knowledgeعِنْدَʿinda(is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَaktharamostالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  188. 188قُلْqulSayلَاNotأَمْلِكُamlikuI have powerلِنَفْسِيlinafsīfor myselfنَفْعًاnafʿan(to) benefitوَلَاwalāand noضَرًّاḍarran(power to) harmإِلَّاillāexceptمَاwhatشَاءَshāawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَوْwalawAnd ifكُنْتُkuntuI wouldأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknowالْغَيْبَl-ghayba(of) the unseenلَاسْتَكْثَرْتُla-is'takthartusurely I could have multipliedمِنَminaofالْخَيْرِl-khayrithe goodوَمَاwamāand notمَسَّنِيَmassaniya(could) have touched meالسُّوءُl-sūuthe evilإِنْinNotأَنَاanā(am) Iإِلَّاillāexceptنَذِيرٌnadhīruna warnerوَبَشِيرٌwabashīrunand a bearer of good tidingsلِقَوْمٍliqawminto a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  189. 189هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youمِنْminfromنَفْسٍnafsina soulوَاحِدَةٍwāḥidatinsingleوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itزَوْجَهَاzawjahāits mateلِيَسْكُنَliyaskunathat he might liveإِلَيْهَاilayhāwith herفَلَمَّاfalammāAnd whenتَغَشَّاهَاtaghashāhāhe covers herحَمَلَتْḥamalatshe carriesحَمْلًاḥamlana burdenخَفِيفًاkhafīfanlightفَمَرَّتْfamarratand continuesبِهِbihiwith itفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenأَثْقَلَتْathqalatshe grows heavyدَعَوَاdaʿawāthey both invokeاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبَّهُمَاrabbahumātheir Lordلَئِنْla-inIfءَاتَيْتَنَاātaytanāYou give usصَالِحًاṣāliḥana righteous (child)لَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannasurely we will beمِنَminaamongالشَّاكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe thankful
  190. 190فَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenءَاتَاهُمَاātāhumāHe gives themصَالِحًاṣāliḥana good (child)جَعَلَاjaʿalāthey makeلَهُlahufor Himشُرَكَاءَshurakāapartnersفِيمَاfīmāin whatءَاتَاهُمَاātāhumāHe has given themفَتَعَالَىfataʿālāBut exaltedاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيُشْرِكُونَyush'rikūnathey associate (with Him)
  191. 191أَيُشْرِكُونَayush'rikūnaDo they associateمَاwhatلَا(can)notيَخْلُقُyakhluqucreateشَيْئًاshayananythingوَهُمْwahumand theyيُخْلَقُونَyukh'laqūnaare created
  192. 192وَلَاwalāAnd notيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are ableلَهُمْlahumto (give) themنَصْرًاnaṣranany helpوَلَاwalāand notأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَنْصُرُونَyanṣurūnacan they help
  193. 193وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَدْعُوهُمْtadʿūhumyou call themإِلَىilātoالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceلَاnotيَتَّبِعُوكُمْyattabiʿūkumwill they follow youسَوَاءٌsawāon(It is) sameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youأَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْadaʿawtumūhumwhether you call themأَمْamorأَنْتُمْantumyouصَامِتُونَṣāmitūnaremain silent
  194. 194إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahعِبَادٌʿibādun(are) slavesأَمْثَالُكُمْamthālukumlike youفَادْعُوهُمْfa-id'ʿūhumSo invoke themفَلْيَسْتَجِيبُواfalyastajībūand let them respondلَكُمْlakumto youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  195. 195أَلَهُمْalahumAre for themأَرْجُلٌarjulunfeetيَمْشُونَyamshūna(to) walkبِهَاbihāwith [it]أَمْamorلَهُمْlahumfor themأَيْدٍaydinhandsيَبْطِشُونَyabṭishūna(to) holdبِهَاbihāwith [it]أَمْamorلَهُمْlahumfor themأَعْيُنٌaʿyununeyesيُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūna(to) seeبِهَاbihāwith [it]أَمْamorلَهُمْlahumfor themءَاذَانٌādhānunearsيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūna(to) hearبِهَاbihāwith [it]قُلِquliSayادْعُواid'ʿūCallشُرَكَاءَكُمْshurakāakumyour partnersثُمَّthummathenكِيدُونِkīdūnischeme against meفَلَاfalāand (do) notتُنْظِرُونِtunẓirūnigive me respite
  196. 196إِنَّinnaIndeedوَلِيِّيَwaliyyiyamy protectorاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoنَزَّلَnazzalarevealedالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe BookوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heيَتَوَلَّىyatawallāprotectsالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
  197. 197وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whomتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou invokeمِنْminfromدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himلَاnotيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnathey are ableنَصْرَكُمْnaṣrakum(to) help youوَلَاwalāand notأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَنْصُرُونَyanṣurūnacan they help
  198. 198وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَدْعُوهُمْtadʿūhumyou call themإِلَىilātoالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceلَاnotيَسْمَعُواyasmaʿūdo they notوَتَرَاهُمْwatarāhumAnd you see themيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnalookingإِلَيْكَilaykaat youوَهُمْwahumbut theyلَاnotيُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūna(do) they see
  199. 199خُذِkhudhiHoldالْعَفْوَl-ʿafwa(to) forgivenessوَأْمُرْwamurand enjoinبِالْعُرْفِbil-ʿur'fithe goodوَأَعْرِضْwa-aʿriḍand turn awayعَنِʿanifromالْجَاهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
  200. 200وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd ifيَنْزَغَنَّكَyanzaghannakaan evil suggestion comes to youمِنَminafromالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni[the] Shaitaanنَزْغٌnazghun[an evil suggestion]فَاسْتَعِذْfa-is'taʿidhthen seek refugeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin AllahإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
  201. 201إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّقَوْاittaqawfear (Allah)إِذَاidhāwhenمَسَّهُمْmassahumtouches themطَائِفٌṭāifunan evil thoughtمِنَminafromالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭānithe Shaitaanتَذَكَّرُواtadhakkarūthey remember (Allah)فَإِذَاfa-idhāand thenهُمْhumtheyمُبْصِرُونَmub'ṣirūna(are) those who see (aright)
  202. 202وَإِخْوَانُهُمْwa-ikh'wānuhumBut their brothersيَمُدُّونَهُمْyamuddūnahumthey plunge themفِيinالْغَيِّl-ghayithe errorثُمَّthummathenلَاnotيُقْصِرُونَyuq'ṣirūnathey cease
  203. 203وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenلَمْlamnotتَأْتِهِمْtatihimyou bring themبِءَايَةٍbiāyatina Signقَالُواqālūthey sayلَوْلَاlawlāWhy (have) notاجْتَبَيْتَهَاij'tabaytahāyou devised itقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَتَّبِعُattabiʿuI followمَاwhatيُوحَىyūḥāis revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meمِنْminfromرَبِّيrabbīmy LordهَذَاhādhāThis (is)بَصَائِرُbaṣāiruenlightenmentمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَهُدًىwahudanand guidanceوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand mercyلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawho believe
  204. 204وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقُرِئَquri-ais recitedالْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānuthe Quranفَاسْتَمِعُواfa-is'tamiʿūthen listenلَهُlahuto itوَأَنْصِتُواwa-anṣitūand pay attentionلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
  205. 205وَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurAnd rememberرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordفِيinنَفْسِكَnafsikayourselfتَضَرُّعًاtaḍarruʿanhumblyوَخِيفَةًwakhīfatanand (in) fearوَدُونَwadūnaand withoutالْجَهْرِl-jahrithe loudnessمِنَminaofالْقَوْلِl-qawli[the] wordsبِالْغُدُوِّbil-ghuduwiin the morningsوَالْءَاصَالِwal-āṣāliand (in) the eveningsوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُنْtakunbeمِنَminaamongالْغَافِلِينَl-ghāfilīnathe heedless
  206. 206إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoعِنْدَʿinda(are) nearرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَاnotيَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūna(do) they turn away in prideعَنْʿanfromعِبَادَتِهِʿibādatihiHis worshipوَيُسَبِّحُونَهُwayusabbiḥūnahuAnd they glorify Himوَلَهُwalahuand to Himيَسْجُدُونَyasjudūnathey prostrate
