Surah 6 — Al-An'aam

1. 1الْحَمْدُal-ḥamdu(All) the praises and thanksلِلَّهِlillahi(be) to Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]وَالنُّورَwal-nūraand the lightثُمَّthummaThenالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimin their Lordيَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnaequate others with Him
2. 2هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youمِنْminfromطِينٍṭīninclayثُمَّthummathenقَضَىqaḍāHe decreedأَجَلًاajalana termوَأَجَلٌwa-ajalunand a termمُسَمًّىmusammanspecifiedعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith Himثُمَّthummayetأَنْتُمْantumyouتَمْتَرُونَtamtarūnadoubt
3. 3وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahفِيfīinالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَفِيwafīand inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuHe knowsسِرَّكُمْsirrakumyour secretوَجَهْرَكُمْwajahrakumand what you make publicوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knowsمَاmāwhatتَكْسِبُونَtaksibūnayou earn
4. 4وَمَاwamāAnd notتَأْتِيهِمْtatīhimcomes to themمِنْmin[of]ءَايَةٍāyatinany signمِنْminfromءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(of) their Lordإِلَّاillābutكَانُواkānūthey areعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itمُعْرِضِينَmuʿ'riḍīnaturning away
5. 5فَقَدْfaqadThen indeedكَذَّبُواkadhabūthey deniedبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truthلَمَّاlammāwhenجَاءَهُمْjāahumit came to themفَسَوْفَfasawfabut soonيَأْتِيهِمْyatīhimwill come to themأَنبَؤُاanbāunewsمَاmā(of) whatكَانُواkānūthey used toبِهِbihi[at it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
6. 6أَلَمْalamDid notيَرَوْاyarawthey seeكَمْkamhow manyأَهْلَكْنَاahlaknāWe destroyedمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themمِنْminofقَرْنٍqarningenerationsمَكَّنَّاهُمْmakkannāhumWe had established themفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotنُمَكِّنْnumakkinWe (have) establishedلَكُمْlakumfor youوَأَرْسَلْنَاwa-arsalnāAnd We sentالسَّمَاءَl-samāa(rain from) the skyعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themمِدْرَارًاmid'rāranshowering abundantlyوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeالْأَنْهَارَl-anhārathe riversتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهِمْtaḥtihimunderneath themفَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْfa-ahlaknāhumThen We destroyed themبِذُنُوبِهِمْbidhunūbihimfor their sinsوَأَنْشَأْنَاwa-anshanāand We raisedمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِمْbaʿdihimafter themقَرْنًاqarnangenerationsءَاخَرِينَākharīnaother
7. 7وَلَوْwalawAnd (even) ifنَزَّلْنَاnazzalnāWe (had) sent downعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youكِتَابًاkitābana written Scriptureفِيfīinقِرْطَاسٍqir'ṭāsina parchmentفَلَمَسُوهُfalamasūhuand they touched itبِأَيْدِيهِمْbi-aydīhimwith their handsلَقَالَlaqālasurely (would) have saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedإِنْinNotهَذَاhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillābutسِحْرٌsiḥ'runmagicمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
8. 8وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidلَوْلَاlawlāWhy has not beenأُنْزِلَunzilasent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himمَلَكٌmalakunan AngelوَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (had) sent downمَلَكًاmalakanan Angelلَقُضِيَlaquḍiyasurely (would) have been decidedالْأَمْرُl-amruthe matterثُمَّthummathenلَاlānoيُنْظَرُونَyunẓarūnarespite would have been granted to them
9. 9وَلَوْwalawAnd ifجَعَلْنَاهُjaʿalnāhuWe had made himمَلَكًاmalakanan Angelلَجَعَلْنَاهُlajaʿalnāhucertainly We (would) have made himرَجُلًاrajulana manوَلَلَبَسْنَاwalalabasnāand certainly We (would) have obscuredعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themمَاmāwhatيَلْبِسُونَyalbisūnathey are obscuring
10. 10وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd indeedاسْتُهْزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mockedبِرُسُلٍbirusulinMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَحَاقَfaḥāqabut surroundedبِالَّذِينَbi-alladhīnathose whoسَخِرُواsakhirūscoffedمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toبِهِbihi[at it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَyastahziūnamock
11. 11قُلْqulSayسِيرُواsīrūTravelفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthثُمَّthummaandانْظُرُواunẓurūseeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the rejecters
12. 12قُلْqulSayلِمَنْlimanTo whom (belongs)مَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthقُلْqulSayلِلَّهِlillahiTo AllahكَتَبَkatabaHe has decreedعَلَىʿalāuponنَفْسِهِnafsihiHimselfالرَّحْمَةَl-raḥmatathe MercyلَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْlayajmaʿannakumSurely He will assemble youإِلَىilāonيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionلَاlā(there is) noرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهِfīhiabout itالَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoخَسِرُواkhasirūhave lostأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesفَهُمْfahumthen theyلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
13. 13وَلَهُwalahuAnd for Himمَاmā(is) whateverسَكَنَsakanadwellsفِيfīinاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightوَالنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand the dayوَهُوَwahuwaand Heالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) All-Hearingالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuAll-Knowing
14. 14قُلْqulSayأَغَيْرَaghayraIs it other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَتَّخِذُattakhidhuI (should) takeوَلِيًّاwaliyyan(as) a protectorفَاطِرِfāṭiriCreatorالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَهُوَwahuwawhile (it is) Heيُطْعِمُyuṭ'ʿimuWho feedsوَلَاwalāand notيُطْعَمُyuṭ'ʿamuHe is fedقُلْqulSayإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأُمِرْتُumir'tu[I] am commandedأَنْanthatأَكُونَakūnaI beأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstمَنْmanwhoأَسْلَمَaslamasubmits (to Allah)وَلَاwalāand notتَكُونَنَّtakūnannabeمِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
15. 15قُلْqulSayإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iأَخَافُakhāfu[I] fearإِنْinifعَصَيْتُʿaṣaytuI disobeyedرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordعَذَابَʿadhābapunishmentيَوْمٍyawmin(of) a DayعَظِيمٍʿaẓīminMighty
16. 16مَنْmanWhoeverيُصْرَفْyuṣ'rafis avertedعَنْهُʿanhufrom itيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat Dayفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyرَحِمَهُraḥimahuHe had Mercy on himوَذَلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatالْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the successالْمُبِينُl-mubīnu(the) clear
17. 17وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَمْسَسْكَyamsaskatouches youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِضُرٍّbiḍurrinwith afflictionفَلَاfalāthen noكَاشِفَkāshifaremoverلَهُlahuof itإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَمْسَسْكَyamsaskaHe touches youبِخَيْرٍbikhayrinwith goodفَهُوَfahuwathen Heعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
18. 18وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْقَاهِرُl-qāhiru(is) the SubjugatorفَوْقَfawqaoverعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wiseالْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
19. 19قُلْqulSayأَيُّayyuWhatشَيْءٍshayinthingأَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greatestشَهَادَةًshahādatan(as) a testimonyقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahشَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) Witnessبَيْنِيbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youوَأُوحِيَwaūḥiyaand has been revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meهَذَاhādhāthisالْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānu[the] Quranلِأُنْذِرَكُمْli-undhirakumthat I may warn youبِهِbihiwith itوَمَنْwamanand whoeverبَلَغَbalaghait reachesأَئِنَّكُمْa-innakumDo you trulyلَتَشْهَدُونَlatashhadūnatestifyأَنَّannathatمَعَmaʿawithاللَّهِl-lahiAllahءَالِهَةًālihatan(there are) godsأُخْرَىukh'rāotherقُلْqulSayلَاlāNotأَشْهَدُashhadu(do) I testifyقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyهُوَhuwaHeإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneوَإِنَّنِيwa-innanīand indeed, I amبَرِيءٌbarīonfreeمِمَّاmimmāof whatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
20. 20الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose (to) whomءَاتَيْنَاهُمُātaynāhumuWe have given themالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيَعْرِفُونَهُyaʿrifūnahuthey recognize himكَمَاkamāasيَعْرِفُونَyaʿrifūnathey recognizeأَبْنَاءَهُمُabnāahumutheir sonsالَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoخَسِرُواkhasirūlostأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesفَهُمْfahumthen theyلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
21. 21وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (he) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventsعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieأَوْaworكَذَّبَkadhabarejectsبِءَايَاتِهِbiāyātihiHis SignsإِنَّهُinnahuIndeedلَاlānotيُفْلِحُyuf'liḥuwill be successfulالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
22. 22وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayنَحْشُرُهُمْnaḥshuruhumWe will gather themجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallثُمَّthummathenنَقُولُnaqūluWe will sayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoأَشْرَكُواashrakūassociated others with AllahأَيْنَaynaWhere (are)شُرَكَاؤُكُمُshurakāukumuyour partnersالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
23. 23ثُمَّthummaThenلَمْlamnotتَكُنْtakunwill beفِتْنَتُهُمْfit'natuhum(for) them a pleaإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey sayوَاللَّهِwal-lahiBy Allahرَبِّنَاrabbināour Lordمَاmānotكُنَّاkunnāwe wereمُشْرِكِينَmush'rikīnathose who associated others (with Allah)
24. 24انْظُرْunẓurLookكَيْفَkayfahowكَذَبُواkadhabūthey liedعَلَىʿalāagainstأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesوَضَلَّwaḍallaAnd lostعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
25. 25وَمِنْهُمْwamin'humAnd among themمَنْman(are those) whoيَسْتَمِعُyastamiʿulistenإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnābut We have placedعَلَىʿalāoverقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsأَكِنَّةًakinnatancoveringsأَنْanlestيَفْقَهُوهُyafqahūhuthey understand itوَفِيwafīand inءَاذَانِهِمْādhānihimtheir earsوَقْرًاwaqrandeafnessوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَرَوْاyarawthey seeكُلَّkullaeveryءَايَةٍāyatinsignلَاlānotيُؤْمِنُواyu'minūwill they believeبِهَاbihāin itحَتَّىḥattāUntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءُوكَjāūkathey come to youيُجَادِلُونَكَyujādilūnakaand argue with youيَقُولُyaqūlusayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedإِنْinNotهَذَاhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillābutأَسَاطِيرُasāṭīru(the) talesالْأَوَّلِينَl-awalīna(of) the former (people)
26. 26وَهُمْwahumAnd theyيَنْهَوْنَyanhawnaforbid (others)عَنْهُʿanhufrom itوَيَنْءَوْنَwayanawnaand they keep awayعَنْهُʿanhufrom itوَإِنْwa-inAnd notيُهْلِكُونَyuh'likūnathey destroyإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesوَمَاwamāand notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
27. 27وَلَوْwalawAnd ifتَرَىtarāyou (could) seeإِذْidhwhenوُقِفُواwuqifūthey are made to standعَلَىʿalābyالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireفَقَالُواfaqālūthen they (will) sayيَالَيْتَنَاyālaytanāOh! Would that weنُرَدُّnuradduwere sent backوَلَاwalāand notنُكَذِّبَnukadhibawe would denyبِءَايَاتِbiāyāti(the) Signsرَبِّنَاrabbinā(of) our Lordوَنَكُونَwanakūnaand we would beمِنَminaamongالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
28. 28بَلْbalNayبَدَاbadābecame manifestلَهُمْlahumfor themمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيُخْفُونَyukh'fūnaconcealمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَلَوْwalawAnd ifرُدُّواruddūthey were sent backلَعَادُواlaʿādūcertainly they (would) returnلِمَاlimāto whatنُهُواnuhūthey were forbiddenعَنْهُʿanhufrom itوَإِنَّهُمْwa-innahumand indeed theyلَكَاذِبُونَlakādhibūnacertainly are liars
29. 29وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidإِنْinNotهِيَhiyait (is)إِلَّاillāexceptحَيَاتُنَاḥayātunāour lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَمَاwamāand notنَحْنُnaḥnuweبِمَبْعُوثِينَbimabʿūthīna(will be) resurrected
30. 30وَلَوْwalawAnd ifتَرَىtarāyou (could) seeإِذْidhwhenوُقِفُواwuqifūthey will be made to standعَلَىʿalābeforeرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordقَالَqālaHe (will) sayأَلَيْسَalaysaIs notهَذَاhādhāthisبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqithe truthقَالُواqālūThey will sayبَلَىbalāYesوَرَبِّنَاwarabbināby our LordقَالَqālaHe (will) sayفَذُوقُواfadhūqūSo tasteالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentبِمَاbimābecauseكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnadisbelieve
31. 31قَدْqadIndeedخَسِرَkhasiraincurred lossالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِلِقَاءِbiliqāiin (the) meetingاللَّهِl-lahi(with) Allahحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hourبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyقَالُواqālūthey saidيَاحَسْرَتَنَاyāḥasratanāOh! Our regretعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhatفَرَّطْنَاfarraṭnāwe neglectedفِيهَاfīhāconcerning itوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَحْمِلُونَyaḥmilūnawill bearأَوْزَارَهُمْawzārahumtheir burdensعَلَىʿalāonظُهُورِهِمْẓuhūrihimtheir backsأَلَاalāUnquestionably!سَاءَsāaEvilمَاmā(is) whatيَزِرُونَyazirūnathey bear
32. 32وَمَاwamāAnd notالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatu(is) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldإِلَّاillāexceptلَعِبٌlaʿibuna playوَلَهْوٌwalahwunand amusementوَلَلدَّارُwalalddārubut the homeالْءَاخِرَةُl-ākhiratu(of) the Hereafterخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoيَتَّقُونَyattaqūna(are) God consciousأَفَلَاafalāThen notتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna(will) you reason
33. 33قَدْqadIndeedنَعْلَمُnaʿlamuWe knowإِنَّهُinnahuthat itلَيَحْزُنُكَlayaḥzunukagrieves youالَّذِيalladhīwhatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayفَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumAnd indeed, theyلَاlā(do) notيُكَذِّبُونَكَyukadhibūnakadeny youوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersبِءَايَاتِbiāyātithe Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيَجْحَدُونَyajḥadūnathey reject
34. 34وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surelyكُذِّبَتْkudhibatwere rejectedرُسُلٌrusulunMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَصَبَرُواfaṣabarūbut they were patientعَلَىʿalāoverمَاmāwhatكُذِّبُواkudhibūthey were rejectedوَأُوذُواwaūdhūand they were harmedحَتَّىḥattāuntilأَتَاهُمْatāhumcame to themنَصْرُنَاnaṣrunāOur helpوَلَاwalāAnd noمُبَدِّلَmubaddilaone (can) alterلِكَلِمَاتِlikalimāti(the) wordsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَقَدْwalaqadand surelyجَاءَكَjāakahas come to youمِنْminofنَّبَإِىnaba-i(the) newsالْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīna(of) the Messengers
35. 35وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكَانَkānaisكَبُرَkaburadifficultعَلَيْكَʿalaykafor youإِعْرَاضُهُمْiʿ'rāḍuhumtheir aversionفَإِنِfa-inithen ifاسْتَطَعْتَis'taṭaʿtayou are ableأَنْantoتَبْتَغِيَtabtaghiyaseekنَفَقًاnafaqana tunnelفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأَوْaworسُلَّمًاsullamana ladderفِيfīintoالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyفَتَأْتِيَهُمْfatatiyahumso that you bring to themبِءَايَةٍbiāyatina SignوَلَوْwalawBut ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَجَمَعَهُمْlajamaʿahumsurely He (would) have gathered themعَلَىʿalāonالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَكُونَنَّtakūnannabeمِنَminaofالْجَاهِلِينَl-jāhilīnathe ignorant
36. 36إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَسْتَجِيبُyastajīburespondالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَسْمَعُونَyasmaʿūnalistenوَالْمَوْتَىwal-mawtāBut the deadيَبْعَثُهُمُyabʿathuhumuwill resurrect themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahثُمَّthummathenإِلَيْهِilayhito Himيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
37. 37وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they saidلَوْلَاlawlāWhy (is) notنُزِّلَnuzzilasent downعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himءَايَةٌāyatuna Signمِنْminfromرَبِّهِrabbihihis LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahقَادِرٌqādirun(is) Ableعَلَىʿalā[on]أَنْantoيُنَزِّلَyunazzilasend downءَايَةًāyatana Signوَلَكِنَّwalākinnabutأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
38. 38وَمَاwamāAnd notمِنْmin[of]دَابَّةٍdābbatinany animalفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notطَائِرٍṭāirina birdيَطِيرُyaṭīru(that) fliesبِجَنَاحَيْهِbijanāḥayhiwith its wingsإِلَّاillābutأُمَمٌumamun(are) communitiesأَمْثَالُكُمْamthālukumlike youمَاmāNotفَرَّطْنَاfarraṭnāWe have neglectedفِيfīinالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingثُمَّthummathenإِلَىilātoرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيُحْشَرُونَyuḥ'sharūnathey will be gathered
39. 39وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūrejectedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Versesصُمٌّṣummun(are) deafوَبُكْمٌwabuk'munand dumbفِيfīinالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darkness[es]مَنْmanWhoeverيَشَإِyasha-iwillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُضْلِلْهُyuḍ'lil'huHe lets him go astrayوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيَشَأْyashaHe willsيَجْعَلْهُyajʿalhuHe places himعَلَىʿalāonصِرَاطٍṣirāṭin(the) wayمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīmin(the) straight
40. 40قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتَكُمْara-aytakumHave you seenإِنْinifأَتَىكُمْatākum(there) came to youعَذَابُʿadhābupunishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَوْaworأَتَتْكُمُatatkumu(there) came to youالسَّاعَةُl-sāʿatuthe Hourأَغَيْرَaghayrais it otherاللَّهِl-lahi(than) Allahتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
41. 41بَلْbalNayإِيَّاهُiyyāhuHim Aloneتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callفَيَكْشِفُfayakshifuand He would removeمَاmāwhatتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callإِلَيْهِilayhiupon HimإِنْinifشَاءَshāaHe willsوَتَنْسَوْنَwatansawnaand you will forgetمَاmāwhatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Him)
42. 42وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sent (Messengers)إِلَىilātoأُمَمٍumaminnationsمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youفَأَخَذْنَاهُمْfa-akhadhnāhumthen We seized themبِالْبَأْسَاءِbil-basāiwith adversityوَالضَّرَّاءِwal-ḍarāiand hardshipلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَضَرَّعُونَyataḍarraʿūnahumble themselves
43. 43فَلَوْلَاfalawlāThen why notإِذْidhwhenجَاءَهُمْjāahumcame to themبَأْسُنَاbasunāOur punishmentتَضَرَّعُواtaḍarraʿūthey humbled themselvesوَلَكِنْwalākinButقَسَتْqasatbecame hardenedقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَزَيَّنَwazayyanaand made fair-seemingلَهُمُlahumuto themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
44. 44فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenنَسُواnasūthey forgotمَاmāwhatذُكِّرُواdhukkirūthey were remindedبِهِbihiof [it]فَتَحْنَاfataḥnāWe openedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themأَبْوَابَabwābagatesكُلِّkulli(of) everyشَيْءٍshayinthingحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenفَرِحُواfariḥūthey rejoicedبِمَاbimāin whatأُوتُواūtūthey were givenأَخَذْنَاهُمْakhadhnāhumWe seized themبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyفَإِذَاfa-idhāand thenهُمْhumtheyمُبْلِسُونَmub'lisūna(were) dumbfounded
45. 45فَقُطِعَfaquṭiʿaSo was cut offدَابِرُdābiru(the) remnantالْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the peopleالَّذِينَalladhīna[those] whoظَلَمُواẓalamūdid wrongوَالْحَمْدُwal-ḥamduAnd all praises and thanksلِلَّهِlillahi(be) to AllahرَبِّrabbiLordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
46. 46قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتُمْara-aytumHave you seenإِنْinifأَخَذَakhadhatook awayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahسَمْعَكُمْsamʿakumyour hearingوَأَبْصَارَكُمْwa-abṣārakumand your sightوَخَتَمَwakhatamaand sealedعَلَىʿalā[on]قُلُوبِكُمْqulūbikumyour heartsمَنْmanwhoإِلَهٌilāhun(is the) godغَيْرُghayruother thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَأْتِيكُمْyatīkumto bring [back] to youبِهِbihiwith itانْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowنُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsثُمَّthummayetهُمْhumtheyيَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn away
47. 47قُلْqulSayأَرَءَيْتَكُمْara-aytakumHave you seenإِنْinifأَتَىكُمْatākumcomes to youعَذَابُʿadhābupunishmentاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahبَغْتَةًbaghtatansuddenlyأَوْaworجَهْرَةًjahratanopenlyهَلْhalwillيُهْلَكُyuh'laku(any) be destroyedإِلَّاillāexceptالْقَوْمُl-qawmuthe peopleالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
48. 48وَمَاwamāAnd notنُرْسِلُnur'siluWe sendالْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengersإِلَّاillāexceptمُبَشِّرِينَmubashirīna(as) bearer of glad tidingsوَمُنْذِرِينَwamundhirīnaand (as) warnersفَمَنْfamanSo whoeverءَامَنَāmanabelievedوَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reformedفَلَاfalāthen noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
49. 49وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātinā[in] Our Versesيَمَسُّهُمُyamassuhumuwill touch themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَفْسُقُونَyafsuqūnadefiantly disobey
50. 50قُلْqulSayلَاlāNotأَقُولُaqūlu(do) I sayلَكُمْlakumto youعِنْدِيʿindī(that) with meخَزَائِنُkhazāinu(are the) treasuresاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand notأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(that) I knowالْغَيْبَl-ghaybathe unseenوَلَاwalāand notأَقُولُaqūluI sayلَكُمْlakumto youإِنِّيinnīthat I (am)مَلَكٌmalakunan AngelإِنْinNotأَتَّبِعُattabiʿu(do) I followإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatيُوحَىyūḥāis revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meقُلْqulSayهَلْhalCanيَسْتَوِيyastawībe equalالْأَعْمَىl-aʿmāthe blindوَالْبَصِيرُwal-baṣīruand the seeing oneأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَتَفَكَّرُونَtatafakkarūnayou give thought
51. 51وَأَنْذِرْwa-andhirAnd warnبِهِbihiwith itالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafearأَنْanthatيُحْشَرُواyuḥ'sharūthey will be gatheredإِلَىilātoرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordلَيْسَlaysanotلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْminofدُونِهِdūnihiother than Himوَلِيٌّwaliyyunany protectorوَلَاwalāand notشَفِيعٌshafīʿunany intercessorلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَّقُونَyattaqūna(become) righteous
52. 52وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَطْرُدِtaṭrudisend awayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَدْعُونَyadʿūnacallرَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lordبِالْغَدَوةِbil-ghadatiin the morningوَالْعَشِيِّwal-ʿashiyiand the eveningيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnadesiringوَجْهَهُwajhahuHis CountenanceمَاmāNotعَلَيْكَʿalayka(is) on youمِنْminofحِسَابِهِمْḥisābihimtheir accountمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingوَمَاwamāand notمِنْminfromحِسَابِكَḥisābikayour accountعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingفَتَطْرُدَهُمْfataṭrudahumSo were you to send them awayفَتَكُونَfatakūnathen you would beمِنَminaofالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
53. 53وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusفَتَنَّاfatannāWe tryبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinwith othersلِيَقُولُواliyaqūlūthat they sayأَهَؤُلَاءِahāulāiAre theseمَنَّmanna(whom has been) favoredاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim[upon them]مِنْminfromبَيْنِنَاbaynināamong usأَلَيْسَalaysais notاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِأَعْلَمَbi-aʿlamamost knowingبِالشَّاكِرِينَbil-shākirīnaof those who are grateful
54. 54وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenجَاءَكَjāakacome to youالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Versesفَقُلْfaqulthen sayسَلَامٌsalāmunPeaceعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum(be) upon youكَتَبَkataba(Has) Prescribedرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour LordعَلَىʿalāuponنَفْسِهِnafsihiHimselfالرَّحْمَةَl-raḥmatathe Mercyأَنَّهُannahuthat heمَنْmanwhoعَمِلَʿamiladoesمِنْكُمْminkumamong youسُوءًاsūanevilبِجَهَالَةٍbijahālatinin ignoranceثُمَّthummathenتَابَtābarepentsمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter itوَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reformsفَأَنَّهُfa-annahuthen, indeed Heغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
55. 55وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُفَصِّلُnufaṣṣiluWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesوَلِتَسْتَبِينَwalitastabīnaso that becomes manifestسَبِيلُsabīlu(the) wayالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(of) the criminals
56. 56قُلْqulSayإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iنُهِيتُnuhītu[I] am forbiddenأَنْanthatأَعْبُدَaʿbudaI worshipالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomتَدْعُونَtadʿūnayou callمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقُلْqulSayلَاlāNotأَتَّبِعُattabiʿuI followأَهْوَاءَكُمْahwāakumyour (vain) desiresقَدْqadcertainlyضَلَلْتُḍalaltuI would go astrayإِذًاidhanthenوَمَاwamāand notأَنَاanāI (would be)مِنَminafromالْمُهْتَدِينَl-muh'tadīnathe guided-ones
57. 57قُلْqulSayإِنِّيinnīIndeed I amعَلَىʿalāonبَيِّنَةٍbayyinatinclear proofمِنْminfromرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَكَذَّبْتُمْwakadhabtumwhile you denyبِهِbihi[with] itمَاmāNotعِنْدِيʿindīI haveمَاmāwhatتَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnayou seek to hastenبِهِbihiof itإِنِiniNotالْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the decisionإِلَّاillāexceptلِلَّهِlillahifor AllahيَقُصُّyaquṣṣuHe relatesالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَهُوَwahuwaand Heخَيْرُkhayru(is the) bestالْفَاصِلِينَl-fāṣilīna(of) the Deciders
58. 58قُلْqulSayلَوْlawIfأَنَّannathatعِنْدِيʿindī(were) with meمَاmāwhatتَسْتَعْجِلُونَtastaʿjilūnayou seek to hastenبِهِbihiof itلَقُضِيَlaquḍiyasurely would have been decidedالْأَمْرُl-amruthe matterبَيْنِيbaynībetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِالظَّالِمِينَbil-ẓālimīnaof the wrongdoers
59. 59وَعِنْدَهُwaʿindahuAnd with Himمَفَاتِحُmafātiḥu(are the) keysالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenلَاlāno (one)يَعْلَمُهَاyaʿlamuhāknows themإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuAnd He knowsمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالْبَرِّl-barithe landوَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand in the seaوَمَاwamāAnd notتَسْقُطُtasquṭufallsمِنْminofوَرَقَةٍwaraqatinany leafإِلَّاillābutيَعْلَمُهَاyaʿlamuhāHe knows itوَلَاwalāAnd notحَبَّةٍḥabbatina grainفِيfīinظُلُمَاتِẓulumātithe darkness[es]الْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earthوَلَاwalāand notرَطْبٍraṭbinmoistوَلَاwalāand notيَابِسٍyābisindryإِلَّاillābutفِيfī(is) inكِتَابٍkitābina RecordمُبِينٍmubīninClear
60. 60وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoيَتَوَفَّاكُمْyatawaffākumtakes your (soul)بِاللَّيْلِbi-al-layliby the nightوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuand He knowsمَاmāwhatجَرَحْتُمْjaraḥtumyou committedبِالنَّهَارِbil-nahāriby the dayثُمَّthummaThenيَبْعَثُكُمْyabʿathukumHe raises you upفِيهِfīhithereinلِيُقْضَىliyuq'ḍāso that is fulfilledأَجَلٌajalun(the) termمُسَمًّىmusammanspecifiedثُمَّthummaThenإِلَيْهِilayhito Himمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukumwill be your returnثُمَّthummathenيُنَبِّئُكُمْyunabbi-ukumHe will inform youبِمَاbimāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
61. 61وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْقَاهِرُl-qāhiru(is) the SubjugatorفَوْقَfawqaoverعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesوَيُرْسِلُwayur'siluand He sendsعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youحَفَظَةًḥafaẓatanguardiansحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَjāacomesأَحَدَكُمُaḥadakumu(to) anyone of youالْمَوْتُl-mawtuthe deathتَوَفَّتْهُtawaffathutake himرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur messengersوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاlā(do) notيُفَرِّطُونَyufarriṭūnafail
62. 62ثُمَّthummaThenرُدُّواruddūthey are returnedإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَوْلَاهُمُmawlāhumutheir Protectorالْحَقِّl-ḥaqi[the] TrueأَلَاalāUnquestionablyلَهُlahufor Himالْحُكْمُl-ḥuk'mu(is) the judgmentوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heأَسْرَعُasraʿu(is) swiftestالْحَاسِبِينَl-ḥāsibīna(in taking) account
63. 63قُلْqulSayمَنْmanWhoيُنَجِّيكُمْyunajjīkumsaves youمِنْminfromظُلُمَاتِẓulumātidarkness[es]الْبَرِّl-bari(of) the landوَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand the seaتَدْعُونَهُtadʿūnahuyou call Himتَضَرُّعًاtaḍarruʿanhumblyوَخُفْيَةًwakhuf'yatanand secretlyلَئِنْla-inIfأَنْجَانَاanjānāHe saves usمِنْminfromهَذِهِhādhihithisلَنَكُونَنَّlanakūnannasurely we will beمِنَminafromالشَّاكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe grateful ones
64. 64قُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُنَجِّيكُمْyunajjīkumsaves youمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itوَمِنْwaminand fromكُلِّkullieveryكَرْبٍkarbindistressثُمَّthummayetأَنْتُمْantumyouتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnaassociate partners (with Allah)
65. 65قُلْqulSayهُوَhuwaHeالْقَادِرُl-qādiru(is) All Ableعَلَىʿalā[on]أَنْantoيَبْعَثَyabʿathasendعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youعَذَابًاʿadhābanpunishmentمِنْminfromفَوْقِكُمْfawqikumabove youأَوْaworمِنْminfromتَحْتِtaḥtibeneathأَرْجُلِكُمْarjulikumyour feetأَوْaworيَلْبِسَكُمْyalbisakum(to) confuse youشِيَعًاshiyaʿan(into) sectsوَيُذِيقَwayudhīqaand make (you) tasteبَعْضَكُمْbaʿḍakumsome of youبَأْسَbasaviolenceبَعْضٍbaʿḍin(of) othersانْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowنُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūnaunderstand
66. 66وَكَذَّبَwakadhabaBut deniedبِهِbihiitقَوْمُكَqawmukayour peopleوَهُوَwahuwawhile itالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthقُلْqulSayلَسْتُlastuI am notعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youبِوَكِيلٍbiwakīlina manager
67. 67لِكُلِّlikulliFor everyنَبَإٍnaba-innewsمُسْتَقَرٌّmus'taqarrun(is) a fixed timeوَسَوْفَwasawfaand soonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will know
68. 68وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenرَأَيْتَra-aytayou seeالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَخُوضُونَyakhūḍūnaengage (in vain talks)فِيfīaboutءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Versesفَأَعْرِضْfa-aʿriḍthen turn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَخُوضُواyakhūḍūthey engageفِيfīinحَدِيثٍḥadīthina talkغَيْرِهِghayrihiother than itوَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd ifيُنْسِيَنَّكَyunsiyannakacauses you to forgetالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَقْعُدْtaqʿudsitبَعْدَbaʿdaafterالذِّكْرَىl-dhik'rāthe reminderمَعَmaʿawithالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
69. 69وَمَاwamāAnd notعَلَىʿalā(is) onالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)مِنْminofحِسَابِهِمْḥisābihimtheir accountمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingوَلَكِنْwalākinbutذِكْرَىdhik'rā(for) reminderلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayيَتَّقُونَyattaqūnafear (Allah)
70. 70وَذَرِwadhariAnd leaveالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtakeدِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religionلَعِبًاlaʿiban(as) a playوَلَهْوًاwalahwanand amusementوَغَرَّتْهُمُwagharrathumuand deluded themالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatuthe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَذَكِّرْwadhakkirBut remindبِهِbihiwith itأَنْanlestتُبْسَلَtub'salais given up to destructionنَفْسٌnafsuna soulبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبَتْkasabatit (has) earnedلَيْسَlaysanotلَهَاlahā(is) for itمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلِيٌّwaliyyunany protectorوَلَاwalāand notشَفِيعٌshafīʿunany intercessorوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَعْدِلْtaʿdilit offers ransomكُلَّkullaeveryعَدْلٍʿadlinransomلَاlānotيُؤْخَذْyu'khadhwill it be takenمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones whoأُبْسِلُواub'silūare given to destructionبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبُواkasabūthey earnedلَهُمْlahumFor themشَرَابٌsharābun(will be) a drinkمِنْminofحَمِيمٍḥamīminboiling waterوَعَذَابٌwaʿadhābunand a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainfulبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey used toيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieve
71. 71قُلْqulSayأَنَدْعُواanadʿūShall we callمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhatلَاlānotيَنْفَعُنَاyanfaʿunābenefits usوَلَاwalāand notيَضُرُّنَاyaḍurrunāharms usوَنُرَدُّwanuradduand we turn backعَلَىʿalāonأَعْقَابِنَاaʿqābināour heelsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]هَدَانَاhadānā(has) guided usاللَّهُl-lahuAllahكَالَّذِيka-alladhīLike the oneاسْتَهْوَتْهُis'tahwathuwhom (has been) enticedالشَّيَاطِينُl-shayāṭīnu(by) the Shaitaanفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthحَيْرَانَḥayrānaconfusedلَهُlahuhe hasأَصْحَابٌaṣḥābuncompanionsيَدْعُونَهُyadʿūnahuwho call himإِلَىilātowardsالْهُدَىl-hudāthe guidanceائْتِنَاi'tināCome to usقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedهُدَىhudā(the) Guidanceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahهُوَhuwaitالْهُدَىl-hudā(is) the Guidanceوَأُمِرْنَاwa-umir'nāand we have been commandedلِنُسْلِمَlinus'limathat we submitلِرَبِّlirabbito (the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
72. 72وَأَنْwa-anAnd toأَقِيمُواaqīmūestablishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَاتَّقُوهُwa-ittaqūhuand fear HimوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the Oneإِلَيْهِilayhito Himتُحْشَرُونَtuḥ'sharūnayou will be gathered
73. 73وَهُوَwahuwaAnd (it is) HeالَّذِيalladhīWhoخَلَقَkhalaqacreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthوَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيَقُولُyaqūluHe saysكُنْkunBeفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it isقَوْلُهُqawluhuHis wordالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the truthوَلَهُwalahuAnd for Himالْمُلْكُl-mul'ku(is) the Dominionيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayيُنْفَخُyunfakhuwill be blownفِيfīinالصُّورِl-ṣūrithe trumpetعَالِمُʿālimu(He is) All-Knowerالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenوَالشَّهَادَةِwal-shahādatiand the seenوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmu(is) the All-Wiseالْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
74. 74وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqālasaidإِبْرَاهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahimلِأَبِيهِli-abīhito his fatherءَازَرَāzaraAazarأَتَتَّخِذُatattakhidhuDo you takeأَصْنَامًاaṣnāmanidolsءَالِهَةًālihatan(as) godsإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأَرَاكَarāka[I] see youوَقَوْمَكَwaqawmakaand your peopleفِيfīinضَلَالٍḍalālinerrorمُبِينٍmubīninmanifest
75. 75وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُرِيnurīWe show(ed)إِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimمَلَكُوتَmalakūtathe kingdomالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَلِيَكُونَwaliyakūnaso that he would beمِنَminaamongالْمُوقِنِينَl-mūqinīnathe ones who are certain
76. 76فَلَمَّاfalammāSo whenجَنَّjannacoveredعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover himاللَّيْلُal-layluthe nightرَءَاraāhe sawكَوْكَبًاkawkabana starقَالَqālaHe saidهَذَاhādhāThisرَبِّيrabbī(is) my LordفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenأَفَلَafalait setقَالَqālahe saidلَاlāNotأُحِبُّuḥibbu(do) I likeالْءَافِلِينَl-āfilīnathe ones that set
77. 77فَلَمَّاfalammāWhenرَءَاraāhe sawالْقَمَرَl-qamarathe moonبَازِغًاbāzighanrisingقَالَqālahe saidهَذَاhādhāThisرَبِّيrabbī(is) my LordفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenأَفَلَafalait setقَالَqālahe saidلَئِنْla-inIfلَمْlam(does) notيَهْدِنِيyahdinīguide meرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordلَأَكُونَنَّla-akūnannaI will surely beمِنَminaamongالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالضَّالِّينَl-ḍālīnawho went astray
78. 78فَلَمَّاfalammāWhenرَءَاraāhe sawالشَّمْسَl-shamsathe sunبَازِغَةًbāzighatanrisingقَالَqālahe saidهَذَاhādhāThis (is)رَبِّيrabbīmy Lordهَذَاhādhāthis (is)أَكْبَرُakbarugreaterفَلَمَّاfalammāBut whenأَفَلَتْafalatit setقَالَqālahe saidيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people!إِنِّيinnīIndeed I amبَرِيءٌbarīonfreeمِمَّاmimmāof whatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associate (with Allah)
79. 79إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iوَجَّهْتُwajjahtu[I] have turnedوَجْهِيَwajhiyamy faceلِلَّذِيlilladhīto the One Whoفَطَرَfaṭaracreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضَwal-arḍaand the earthحَنِيفًاḥanīfan(as) a true monotheistوَمَاwamāand notأَنَاanāI (am)مِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
80. 80وَحَاجَّهُwaḥājjahuAnd argued with himقَوْمُهُqawmuhuhis peopleقَالَqālaHe saidأَتُحَاجُّونِّيatuḥājjūnnīDo you argue with meفِيfīconcerningاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَقَدْwaqadwhile certainlyهَدَانِhadāniHe has guided meوَلَاwalāAnd notأَخَافُakhāfu(do) I fearمَاmāwhatتُشْرِكُونَtush'rikūnayou associateبِهِbihiwith Himإِلَّاillāunlessأَنْan[that]يَشَاءَyashāawillsرَبِّيrabbīmy LordشَيْئًاshayananythingوَسِعَwasiʿaEncompassesرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingعِلْمًاʿil'man(in) knowledgeأَفَلَاafalāThen will notتَتَذَكَّرُونَtatadhakkarūnayou take heed
81. 81وَكَيْفَwakayfaAnd howأَخَافُakhāfucould I fearمَاmāwhatأَشْرَكْتُمْashraktumyou associate (with Allah)وَلَاwalāwhile notتَخَافُونَtakhāfūnayou fearأَنَّكُمْannakumthat youأَشْرَكْتُمْashraktumhave associatedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allahمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotيُنَزِّلْyunazzildid He send downبِهِbihifor itعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanany authorityفَأَيُّfa-ayyuSo whichالْفَرِيقَيْنِl-farīqayni(of) the two partiesأَحَقُّaḥaqquhas more rightبِالْأَمْنِbil-amnito securityإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
82. 82الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَلَمْwalamand (did) notيَلْبِسُواyalbisūmixإِيمَانَهُمْīmānahumtheir beliefبِظُلْمٍbiẓul'minwith wrongأُولَئِكَulāikathoseلَهُمُlahumufor themالْأَمْنُl-amnu(is) the securityوَهُمْwahumand theyمُهْتَدُونَmuh'tadūna(are) rightly guided
83. 83وَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd thisحُجَّتُنَاḥujjatunā(is) Our argumentءَاتَيْنَاهَاātaynāhāWe gave itإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(to) Ibrahimعَلَىʿalāagainstقَوْمِهِqawmihihis peopleنَرْفَعُnarfaʿuWe raiseدَرَجَاتٍdarajātin(by) degreesمَنْmanwhomنَشَاءُnashāuWe willإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordحَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-WiseعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
84. 84وَوَهَبْنَاwawahabnāAnd We bestowedلَهُlahuto himإِسْحَاقَis'ḥāqaIshaqوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand YaqubكُلًّاkullanallهَدَيْنَاhadaynāWe guidedوَنُوحًاwanūḥanAnd NuhهَدَيْنَاhadaynāWe guidedمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَمِنْwaminand ofذُرِّيَّتِهِdhurriyyatihihis descendentsدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodوَسُلَيْمَانَwasulaymānaand Sulaimanوَأَيُّوبَwa-ayyūbaand Ayubوَيُوسُفَwayūsufaand Yusufوَمُوسَىwamūsāand Musaوَهَارُونَwahārūnaand HarunوَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنَجْزِيnajzīWe rewardالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
85. 85وَزَكَرِيَّاwazakariyyāAnd Zakariyaوَيَحْيَىwayaḥyāand Yahyaوَعِيسَىwaʿīsāand Isaوَإِلْيَاسَwa-il'yāsaand Ilyasكُلٌّkullunall wereمِنَminaofالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
86. 86وَإِسْمَاعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaAnd Ismailوَالْيَسَعَwal-yasaʿaand Al-Yasaaوَيُونُسَwayūnusaand Yunusوَلُوطًاwalūṭanand Lutوَكُلًّاwakullanand allفَضَّلْنَاfaḍḍalnāWe preferredعَلَىʿalāoverالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
87. 87وَمِنْwaminAnd fromءَابَائِهِمْābāihimtheir fathersوَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْwadhurriyyātihimand their descendentsوَإِخْوَانِهِمْwa-ikh'wānihimand their brothersوَاجْتَبَيْنَاهُمْwa-ij'tabaynāhumand We chose themوَهَدَيْنَاهُمْwahadaynāhumand We guided themإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
88. 88ذَلِكَdhālikaThatهُدَىhudā(is the) Guidanceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahيَهْدِيyahdīHe guidesبِهِbihiwith itمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsمِنْminofعِبَادِهِʿibādihiHis slavesوَلَوْwalawBut ifأَشْرَكُواashrakūthey (had) associated partners (with Allah)لَحَبِطَlaḥabiṭasurely (would be) worthlessعَنْهُمْʿanhumfor themمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
89. 89أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones whomءَاتَيْنَاهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave themالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحُكْمَwal-ḥuk'maand the judgmentوَالنُّبُوَّةَwal-nubuwataand the Prophethoodفَإِنْfa-inBut ifيَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelieveبِهَاbihāin itهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseفَقَدْfaqadthen indeedوَكَّلْنَاwakkalnāWe have entrustedبِهَاbihāitقَوْمًاqawman(to) a peopleلَيْسُواlaysūwho are notبِهَاbihāthereinبِكَافِرِينَbikāfirīnadisbelievers
90. 90أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) ones whomهَدَىhadā(have been) guidedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَبِهُدَاهُمُfabihudāhumuso of their guidanceاقْتَدِهْiq'tadihyou followقُلْqulSayلَاlāNotأَسْءَلُكُمْasalukumI ask youعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor itأَجْرًاajranany rewardإِنْinNotهُوَhuwa(is) itإِلَّاillābutذِكْرَىdhik'rāa reminderلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
91. 91وَمَاwamāAnd (did) notقَدَرُواqadarūthey appraiseاللَّهَl-lahaAllahحَقَّḥaqqa(with) trueقَدْرِهِqadrihi[of his] appraisalإِذْidhwhenقَالُواqālūthey saidمَاmāNotأَنْزَلَanzalarevealedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahعَلَىʿalāonبَشَرٍbasharina human beingمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingقُلْqulSayمَنْmanWhoأَنْزَلَanzalarevealedالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookالَّذِيalladhīwhichجَاءَjāabroughtبِهِbihi[it]مُوسَىmūsāMusaنُورًاnūran(as) a lightوَهُدًىwahudanand guidanceلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the peopleتَجْعَلُونَهُtajʿalūnahuYou make itقَرَاطِيسَqarāṭīsa(into) parchmentsتُبْدُونَهَاtub'dūnahāyou disclose (some of) itوَتُخْفُونَwatukh'fūnaand you concealكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch (of it)وَعُلِّمْتُمْwaʿullim'tumAnd you were taughtمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotتَعْلَمُواtaʿlamūknewأَنْتُمْantumyouوَلَاwalāand notءَابَاؤُكُمْābāukumyour forefathersقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllah (revealed it)ثُمَّthummaThenذَرْهُمْdharhumleave themفِيfīinخَوْضِهِمْkhawḍihimtheir discourseيَلْعَبُونَyalʿabūnaplaying
92. 92وَهَذَاwahādhāAnd thisكِتَابٌkitābun(is) a BookأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed itمُبَارَكٌmubārakunblessedمُصَدِّقُmuṣaddiquconfirmingالَّذِيalladhīwhichبَيْنَbaynacameيَدَيْهِyadayhibefore itوَلِتُنْذِرَwalitundhiraso that you may warnأُمَّumma(the) motherالْقُرَىl-qurā(of) the citiesوَمَنْwamanand whoحَوْلَهَاḥawlahā(are) around itوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaThose whoيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeبِهِbihiin itوَهُمْwahumand theyعَلَىʿalāoverصَلَاتِهِمْṣalātihimtheir prayersيُحَافِظُونَyuḥāfiẓūna(are) guarding
93. 93وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventsعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieأَوْaworقَالَqālasaidأُوحِيَūḥiyaIt has been inspiredإِلَيَّilayyato meوَلَمْwalamwhile notيُوحَyūḥait was inspiredإِلَيْهِilayhito himشَيْءٌshayonanythingوَمَنْwamanand (one) whoقَالَqālasaidسَأُنْزِلُsa-unziluI will revealمِثْلَmith'lalikeمَاmāwhatأَنْزَلَanzala(has been) revealedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahوَلَوْwalawAnd ifتَرَىtarāyou (could) seeإِذِidhiwhenالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoersفِيfī(are) inغَمَرَاتِghamarātiagoniesالْمَوْتِl-mawti(of) [the] deathوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuwhile the Angelsبَاسِطُواbāsiṭū(are) stretching outأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands (saying)أَخْرِجُواakhrijūDischargeأَنْفُسَكُمُanfusakumuyour soulsالْيَوْمَl-yawmaTodayتُجْزَوْنَtuj'zawnayou will be recompensedعَذَابَʿadhāba(with) punishmentالْهُونِl-hūnihumiliatingبِمَاbimābecauseكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَقُولُونَtaqūlūnasayعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahغَيْرَghayraother thanالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthوَكُنْتُمْwakuntumand you wereعَنْʿantowardsءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesتَسْتَكْبِرُونَtastakbirūnabeing arrogant
94. 94وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyجِئْتُمُونَاji'tumūnāyou have come to UsفُرَادَىfurādāaloneكَمَاkamāasخَلَقْنَاكُمْkhalaqnākumWe created youأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstمَرَّةٍmarratintimeوَتَرَكْتُمْwataraktumand you have leftمَاmāwhateverخَوَّلْنَاكُمْkhawwalnākumWe bestowed (on) youوَرَاءَwarāabehindظُهُورِكُمْẓuhūrikumyour backsوَمَاwamāAnd notنَرَىnarāWe seeمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youشُفَعَاءَكُمُshufaʿāakumuyour intercessorsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomزَعَمْتُمْzaʿamtumyou claimedأَنَّهُمْannahumthat they (were)فِيكُمْfīkumin your (matters)شُرَكَاءُshurakāupartners (with Allah)لَقَدْlaqadIndeedتَقَطَّعَtaqaṭṭaʿahave been - (bonds)بَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youوَضَلَّwaḍallaand is lostعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youمَاmāwhatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَزْعُمُونَtazʿumūnaclaim
95. 95إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَالِقُfāliqu(is the) Cleaverالْحَبِّl-ḥabi(of) the grainوَالنَّوَىwal-nawāand the date-seedيُخْرِجُyukh'rijuHe brings forthالْحَيَّl-ḥayathe livingمِنَminafromالْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe deadوَمُخْرِجُwamukh'rijuand brings forthالْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe deadمِنَminafromالْحَيِّl-ḥayithe livingذَلِكُمُdhālikumuThatاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahفَأَنَّىfa-annāso howتُؤْفَكُونَtu'fakūnaare you deluded
96. 96فَالِقُfāliqu(He is the) Cleaverالْإِصْبَاحِl-iṣ'bāḥi(of) the daybreakوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand He has madeاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightسَكَنًاsakanan(for) restوَالشَّمْسَwal-shamsaand the sunوَالْقَمَرَwal-qamaraand the moonحُسْبَانًاḥus'bānan(for) reckoningذَلِكَdhālikaThatتَقْدِيرُtaqdīru(is the) ordainingالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzi(of) the All-Mightyالْعَلِيمِl-ʿalīmithe All-Knowing
97. 97وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoجَعَلَjaʿalamadeلَكُمُlakumufor youالنُّجُومَl-nujūmathe starsلِتَهْتَدُواlitahtadūthat you may guide yourselvesبِهَاbihāwith themفِيfīinظُلُمَاتِẓulumātithe darkness[es]الْبَرِّl-bari(of) the landوَالْبَحْرِwal-baḥriand the seaقَدْqadCertainlyفَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have made clearالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūna(who) know
98. 98وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْشَأَكُمْansha-akum(has) produced youمِنْminfromنَفْسٍnafsina soulوَاحِدَةٍwāḥidatinsingleفَمُسْتَقَرٌّfamus'taqarrunso (there is) a place of dwellingوَمُسْتَوْدَعٌwamus'tawdaʿunand a resting placeقَدْqadCertainlyفَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have made clearالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūna(who) understand
99. 99وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْزَلَanzalasends downمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyمَاءًmāanwaterفَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāthen We bring forthبِهِbihiwith itنَبَاتَnabātavegetationكُلِّkulli(of) everyشَيْءٍshayinthingفَأَخْرَجْنَاfa-akhrajnāThen We bring forthمِنْهُmin'hufrom itخَضِرًاkhaḍirangreen plantنُخْرِجُnukh'rijuWe bring forthمِنْهُmin'hufrom itحَبًّاḥabbangrainمُتَرَاكِبًاmutarākibanthick clusteredوَمِنَwaminaAnd fromالنَّخْلِl-nakhlithe date-palmمِنْminfromطَلْعِهَاṭalʿihāits spatheقِنْوَانٌqin'wānunclusters of datesدَانِيَةٌdāniyatunhanging lowوَجَنَّاتٍwajannātinAnd gardensمِنْminofأَعْنَابٍaʿnābingrapesوَالزَّيْتُونَwal-zaytūnaand the olivesوَالرُّمَّانَwal-rumānaand the pomegranatesمُشْتَبِهًاmush'tabihanresemblingوَغَيْرَwaghayraand notمُتَشَابِهٍmutashābihinresemblingانْظُرُواunẓurūLookإِلَىilāatثَمَرِهِthamarihiits fruitإِذَاidhāwhenأَثْمَرَathmarait bears fruitوَيَنْعِهِwayanʿihiand its ripeningإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيfīinذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātin(are) signsلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūna(who) believe
100. 100وَجَعَلُواwajaʿalūAnd they makeلِلَّهِlillahiwith Allahشُرَكَاءَshurakāapartnersالْجِنَّl-jinajinnوَخَلَقَهُمْwakhalaqahumthough He has created themوَخَرَقُواwakharaqūand they falsely attributeلَهُlahuto Himبَنِينَbanīnasonsوَبَنَاتٍwabanātinand daughtersبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeسُبْحَانَهُsub'ḥānahuGlorified is Heوَتَعَالَىwataʿālāand Exaltedعَمَّاʿammāabove whatيَصِفُونَyaṣifūnathey attribute
101. 101بَدِيعُbadīʿuOriginatorالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthأَنَّىannāHowيَكُونُyakūnucan beلَهُlahufor Himوَلَدٌwaladuna sonوَلَمْwalamwhile notتَكُنْtakun(there) isلَهُlahufor Himصَاحِبَةٌṣāḥibatuna companionوَخَلَقَwakhalaqaand He createdكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heبِكُلِّbikulli(is) of everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knower
102. 102ذَلِكُمُdhālikumuThatاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordلَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimخَالِقُkhāliqu(the) Creatorكُلِّkulli(of) everyشَيْءٍshayinthingفَاعْبُدُوهُfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship HimوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingوَكِيلٌwakīluna Guardian
103. 103لَاlā(Can) notتُدْرِكُهُtud'rikuhugrasp Himالْأَبْصَارُl-abṣāruthe visionsوَهُوَwahuwabut Heيُدْرِكُyud'riku(can) graspالْأَبْصَارَl-abṣāra(all) the visionوَهُوَwahuwaand He (is)اللَّطِيفُl-laṭīfuthe All-Subtleالْخَبِيرُl-khabīruthe All-Aware
104. 104قَدْqadVerilyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youبَصَائِرُbaṣāiruenlightenmentمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour LordفَمَنْfamanThen whoeverأَبْصَرَabṣaraseesفَلِنَفْسِهِfalinafsihithen (it is) for his soulوَمَنْwamanand whoeverعَمِيَʿamiya(is) blindفَعَلَيْهَاfaʿalayhāthen (it is) against himselfوَمَاwamāAnd notأَنَاanā(am) Iعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youبِحَفِيظٍbiḥafīẓina guardian
105. 105وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُصَرِّفُnuṣarrifuWe explainالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsوَلِيَقُولُواwaliyaqūlūthat they (may) sayدَرَسْتَdarastaYou have studiedوَلِنُبَيِّنَهُwalinubayyinahuand that We (may) make it clearلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnawho know
106. 106اتَّبِعْittabiʿFollowمَاmāwhatأُوحِيَūḥiyahas been inspiredإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordلَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimوَأَعْرِضْwa-aʿriḍand turn awayعَنِʿanifromالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
107. 107وَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاmānot (they would have)أَشْرَكُواashrakūassociated partners (with Him)وَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلْنَاكَjaʿalnākaWe have made youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themحَفِيظًاḥafīẓana guardianوَمَاwamāand notأَنْتَantayouعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim(are) over themبِوَكِيلٍbiwakīlina manager
108. 108وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَسُبُّواtasubbūinsultالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminfromدُونِdūniother thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَيَسُبُّواfayasubbūlest they insultاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَدْوًاʿadwan(in) enmityبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusزَيَّنَّاzayyannāWe have made fair-seemingلِكُلِّlikullito everyأُمَّةٍummatincommunityعَمَلَهُمْʿamalahumtheir deedثُمَّthummaThenإِلَىilātoرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordمَرْجِعُهُمْmarjiʿuhum(is) their returnفَيُنَبِّئُهُمْfayunabbi-uhumthen He will inform themبِمَاbimāabout whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
109. 109وَأَقْسَمُواwa-aqsamūAnd they swearبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahجَهْدَjahdastrongestأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihim(of) their oathsلَئِنْla-inthat ifجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to themءَايَةٌāyatuna signلَيُؤْمِنُنَّlayu'minunnathey would surely believeبِهَاbihāin itقُلْqulSayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyالْءَايَاتُl-āyātuthe signsعِنْدَʿinda(are) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāAnd whatيُشْعِرُكُمْyush'ʿirukumwill make you perceiveأَنَّهَاannahāthat [it]إِذَاidhāwhenجَاءَتْjāatit comesلَاlānotيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey will believe
110. 110وَنُقَلِّبُwanuqallibuAnd We will turnأَفْئِدَتَهُمْafidatahumtheir heartsوَأَبْصَارَهُمْwa-abṣārahumand their sightsكَمَاkamā(just) asلَمْlamnotيُؤْمِنُواyu'minūthey believeبِهِbihiin itأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstمَرَّةٍmarratintimeوَنَذَرُهُمْwanadharuhumAnd We will leave themفِيfīinطُغْيَانِهِمْṭugh'yānihimtheir transgressionيَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawandering blindly
111. 111وَلَوْwalawAnd (even) ifأَنَّنَاannanā[that] We (had)نَزَّلْنَاnazzalnā[We] sent downإِلَيْهِمُilayhimuto themالْمَلَائِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angelsوَكَلَّمَهُمُwakallamahumuand spoken to themالْمَوْتَىl-mawtāthe deadوَحَشَرْنَاwaḥasharnāand We gatheredعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimbefore themكُلَّkullaeveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقُبُلًاqubulanface to faceمَاmānotكَانُواkānūthey wereلِيُؤْمِنُواliyu'minūto believeإِلَّاillāunlessأَنْan[that]يَشَاءَyashāawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَكِنَّwalākinnaButأَكْثَرَهُمْaktharahummost of themيَجْهَلُونَyajhalūna(are) ignorant
112. 112وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeلِكُلِّlikullifor everyنَبِيٍّnabiyyinProphetعَدُوًّاʿaduwwanan enemyشَيَاطِينَshayāṭīnadevilsالْإِنْسِl-insi(from) the mankindوَالْجِنِّwal-jiniand the jinnيُوحِيyūḥīinspiringبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumsome of themإِلَىilātoبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersزُخْرُفَzukh'rufa(with) decorativeالْقَوْلِl-qawli[the] speechغُرُورًاghurūran(in) deceptionوَلَوْwalawBut ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordمَاmānotفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhuthey (would) have done itفَذَرْهُمْfadharhumso leave themوَمَاwamāand whatيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey invent
113. 113وَلِتَصْغَىwalitaṣghāAnd so that inclineإِلَيْهِilayhito itأَفْئِدَةُafidatuheartsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterوَلِيَرْضَوْهُwaliyarḍawhuand so that they may be pleased with itوَلِيَقْتَرِفُواwaliyaqtarifūand so that they may commitمَاmāwhatهُمْhumtheyمُقْتَرِفُونَmuq'tarifūna(are) committing
114. 114أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraThen is (it) other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَبْتَغِيabtaghīI seekحَكَمًاḥakaman(as) judgeوَهُوَwahuwawhile Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedإِلَيْكُمُilaykumuto youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمُفَصَّلًاmufaṣṣalanexplained in detailوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those (to) whomءَاتَيْنَاهُمُātaynāhumuWe gave themالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnathey knowأَنَّهُannahuthat itمُنَزَّلٌmunazzalun(is) sent downمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَكُونَنَّtakūnannabeمِنَminaamongالْمُمْتَرِينَl-mum'tarīnathe ones who doubt
115. 115وَتَمَّتْwatammatAnd (has been) fulfilledكَلِمَتُkalimatu(the) wordرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordصِدْقًاṣid'qan(in) truthوَعَدْلًاwaʿadlanand justiceلَاlāNoمُبَدِّلَmubaddilaone can changeلِكَلِمَاتِهِlikalimātihiHis wordsوَهُوَwahuwaand Heالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearerالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knower
116. 116وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُطِعْtuṭiʿyou obeyأَكْثَرَaktharamostمَنْmanofفِيfī(those) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthيُضِلُّوكَyuḍillūkathey will mislead youعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنْinNotيَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnathey followإِلَّاillāexceptالظَّنَّl-ẓana[the] assumptionوَإِنْwa-inand notهُمْhumthey (do)إِلَّاillāexceptيَخْرُصُونَyakhruṣūnaguess
117. 117إِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour LordهُوَhuwaHeأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestمَنْmanwhoيَضِلُّyaḍillustraysعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِهِsabīlihiHis wayوَهُوَwahuwaand Heأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِالْمُهْتَدِينَbil-muh'tadīnaof the guided-ones
118. 118فَكُلُواfakulūSo eatمِمَّاmimmāof whatذُكِرَdhukira(is) mentionedاسْمُus'mu(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areبِءَايَاتِهِbiāyātihiin His Versesمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
119. 119وَمَاwamāAnd whatلَكُمْlakumfor youأَلَّاallāthat notتَأْكُلُواtakulūyou eatمِمَّاmimmāof whatذُكِرَdhukirahas been mentionedاسْمُus'mu(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itوَقَدْwaqadwhen indeedفَصَّلَfaṣṣalaHe (has) explained in detailلَكُمْlakumto youمَاmāwhatحَرَّمَḥarramaHe (has) forbiddenعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatاضْطُرِرْتُمْuḍ'ṭurir'tumyou are compelledإِلَيْهِilayhito itوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyلَيُضِلُّونَlayuḍillūnasurely lead astrayبِأَهْوَائِهِمْbi-ahwāihimby their (vain) desiresبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour LordهُوَhuwaHeأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) most knowingبِالْمُعْتَدِينَbil-muʿ'tadīnaof the transgressors
120. 120وَذَرُواwadharūForsakeظَاهِرَẓāhiraopenالْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sinsوَبَاطِنَهُwabāṭinahuand the secretإِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearnالْإِثْمَl-ith'ma[the] sinسَيُجْزَوْنَsayuj'zawnathey will be recompensedبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَقْتَرِفُونَyaqtarifūnacommit
121. 121وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَأْكُلُواtakulūeatمِمَّاmimmāof thatلَمْlamnotيُذْكَرِyudh'karihas been mentionedاسْمُus'mu(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuand indeed, it (is)لَفِسْقٌlafis'qungrave disobedienceوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedالشَّيَاطِينَl-shayāṭīnathe devilsلَيُوحُونَlayūḥūnainspireإِلَىilātoأَوْلِيَائِهِمْawliyāihimtheir friendsلِيُجَادِلُوكُمْliyujādilūkumso that they dispute with youوَإِنْwa-inand ifأَطَعْتُمُوهُمْaṭaʿtumūhumyou obey themإِنَّكُمْinnakumindeed, youلَمُشْرِكُونَlamush'rikūna(would) be the polytheists
122. 122أَوَمَنْawamanIs (one) whoكَانَkānawasمَيْتًاmaytandeadفَأَحْيَيْنَاهُfa-aḥyaynāhuand We gave him lifeوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeلَهُlahufor himنُورًاnūranlightيَمْشِيyamshīhe walksبِهِbihiwherebyفِيfīamongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleكَمَنْkamanlike (one) whoمَثَلُهُmathaluhu[similar to him]فِيfī(is) inالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darknessesلَيْسَlaysanotبِخَارِجٍbikhārijinhe comes outمِنْهَاmin'hāof itكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusزُيِّنَzuyyinais made fair-seemingلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnato the disbelieversمَاmāwhatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoing
123. 123وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe placedفِيfīinكُلِّkullieveryقَرْيَةٍqaryatincityأَكَابِرَakābiragreatestمُجْرِمِيهَاmuj'rimīhā(of) its criminalsلِيَمْكُرُواliyamkurūso that they plotفِيهَاfīhāthereinوَمَاwamāAnd notيَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnathey plotإِلَّاillāexceptبِأَنْفُسِهِمْbi-anfusihimagainst themselvesوَمَاwamāand notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive
124. 124وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcomes to themءَايَةٌāyatuna Signقَالُواqālūthey sayلَنْlanNeverنُؤْمِنَnu'minawe will believeحَتَّىḥattāuntilنُؤْتَىnu'tāwe are givenمِثْلَmith'lalikeمَاmāwhatأُوتِيَūtiyawas givenرُسُلُrusulu(to the) Messengersاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestحَيْثُḥaythuwhereيَجْعَلُyajʿaluHe placesرِسَالَتَهُrisālatahuHis MessageسَيُصِيبُsayuṣībuWill afflictالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَجْرَمُواajramūcommitted crimesصَغَارٌṣaghāruna humiliationعِنْدَʿindafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَعَذَابٌwaʿadhābunand a punishmentشَدِيدٌshadīdunsevereبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَمْكُرُونَyamkurūnaplot
125. 125فَمَنْfamanSo whoeverيُرِدِyuridiwantsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْanthatيَهْدِيَهُyahdiyahuHe guides himيَشْرَحْyashraḥHe expandsصَدْرَهُṣadrahuhis breastلِلْإِسْلَامِlil'is'lāmito Islamوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُرِدْyuridHe wantsأَنْanthatيُضِلَّهُyuḍillahuHe lets him go astrayيَجْعَلْyajʿalHe makesصَدْرَهُṣadrahuhis breastضَيِّقًاḍayyiqantightحَرَجًاḥarajanand constrictedكَأَنَّمَاka-annamāas thoughيَصَّعَّدُyaṣṣaʿʿaduhe (were) climbingفِيfīintoالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe skyكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيَجْعَلُyajʿaluplacesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالرِّجْسَl-rij'sathe filthعَلَىʿalāonالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
126. 126وَهَذَاwahādhāAnd thisصِرَاطُṣirāṭu(is the) wayرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīmanstraightقَدْqadCertainlyفَصَّلْنَاfaṣṣalnāWe have detailedالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيَذَّكَّرُونَyadhakkarūnawho take heed
127. 127لَهُمْlahumFor themدَارُdāru(will be) homeالسَّلَامِl-salāmi(of) [the] peaceعِنْدَʿindawithرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heوَلِيُّهُمْwaliyyuhum(will be) their protecting friendبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānū(of what) they used toيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado
128. 128وَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (the) DayيَحْشُرُهُمْyaḥshuruhumHe will gather themجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallيَامَعْشَرَyāmaʿshara(and will say) O assemblyالْجِنِّl-jini(of) [the] jinnقَدِqadiCertainlyاسْتَكْثَرْتُمْis'takthartumyou have (misled) manyمِنَminaofالْإِنْسِl-insithe mankindوَقَالَwaqālaAnd will sayأَوْلِيَاؤُهُمْawliyāuhumtheir friendsمِنَminaamongالْإِنْسِl-insithe menرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordاسْتَمْتَعَis'tamtaʿaprofitedبَعْضُنَاbaʿḍunāsome of usبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinby othersوَبَلَغْنَاwabalaghnāand we have reachedأَجَلَنَاajalanāour termالَّذِيalladhīwhichأَجَّلْتَajjaltaYou appointedلَنَاlanāfor usقَالَqālaHe will sayالنَّارُl-nāruThe Fireمَثْوَاكُمْmathwākum(is) your abodeخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmā(for) whatشَاءَshāawillsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordحَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-WiseعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
129. 129وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd thusنُوَلِّيnuwallīWe make friendsبَعْضَbaʿḍasome (of)الظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoersبَعْضًاbaʿḍan(to) othersبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
130. 130يَامَعْشَرَyāmaʿsharaO assemblyالْجِنِّl-jini(of) [the] jinnوَالْإِنْسِwal-insiand [the] menأَلَمْalamDid (there) notيَأْتِكُمْyatikumcome to youرُسُلٌrusulunMessengersمِنْكُمْminkumfrom (among) youيَقُصُّونَyaquṣṣūnarelatingعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youءَايَاتِيāyātīMy Versesوَيُنْذِرُونَكُمْwayundhirūnakumand warning youلِقَاءَliqāa(of the) meetingيَوْمِكُمْyawmikum(of) your dayهَذَاhādhāthisقَالُواqālūThey will sayشَهِدْنَاshahid'nāWe bear witnessعَلَىʿalāagainstأَنْفُسِنَاanfusināourselvesوَغَرَّتْهُمُwagharrathumuAnd deluded themالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatuthe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَشَهِدُواwashahidūand they will bear witnessعَلَىʿalāagainstأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyكَانُواkānūwereكَافِرِينَkāfirīnadisbelievers
131. 131ذَلِكَdhālikaThat (is because)أَنْan[that]لَمْlamnotيَكُنْyakunisرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordمُهْلِكَmuh'likaone who destroysالْقُرَىl-qurāthe citiesبِظُلْمٍbiẓul'minfor their wrongdoingوَأَهْلُهَاwa-ahluhāwhile their peopleغَافِلُونَghāfilūna(are) unaware
132. 132وَلِكُلٍّwalikullinAnd for allدَرَجَاتٌdarajātun(will be) degreesمِمَّاmimmāfor whatعَمِلُواʿamilūthey didوَمَاwamāAnd notرَبُّكَrabbuka(is) your Lordبِغَافِلٍbighāfilinunawareعَمَّاʿammāabout whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
133. 133وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaAnd your Lordالْغَنِيُّl-ghaniyu(is) the Self-Sufficientذُوdhū(the) Possessorالرَّحْمَةِl-raḥmati(of) mercyإِنْinIfيَشَأْyashaHe willsيُذْهِبْكُمْyudh'hib'kumHe can take you awayوَيَسْتَخْلِفْwayastakhlifand grant successionمِنْminfromبَعْدِكُمْbaʿdikumafter youمَاmā(to) whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsكَمَاkamāasأَنْشَأَكُمْansha-akumHe raised youمِنْminfromذُرِّيَّةِdhurriyyatithe descendantsقَوْمٍqawmin(of) peopleءَاخَرِينَākharīnaother
134. 134إِنَّinnaIndeedمَاmāwhatتُوعَدُونَtūʿadūnayou are promisedلَءَاتٍlaātin(is) sure to comeوَمَاwamāAnd notأَنْتُمْantum(can) youبِمُعْجِزِينَbimuʿ'jizīnaescape (it)
135. 135قُلْqulSayيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleاعْمَلُواiʿ'malūWorkعَلَىʿalāonمَكَانَتِكُمْmakānatikumyour positionإِنِّيinnīIndeed, I amعَامِلٌʿāmiluna workerفَسَوْفَfasawfaAnd soonتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnayou will knowمَنْmanwhoتَكُونُtakūnuwill haveلَهُlahufor himselfعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(in) the endالدَّارِl-dāri(a good) homeإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed [he]لَاlā(will) notيُفْلِحُyuf'liḥusucceedالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūnathe wrongdoers
136. 136وَجَعَلُواwajaʿalūAnd they assignلِلَّهِlillahito Allahمِمَّاmimmāout of whatذَرَأَdhara-aHe producedمِنَminaofالْحَرْثِl-ḥarthithe cropsوَالْأَنْعَامِwal-anʿāmiand the cattleنَصِيبًاnaṣībana shareفَقَالُواfaqālūand they sayهَذَاhādhāThisلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahبِزَعْمِهِمْbizaʿmihimby their claimوَهَذَاwahādhāAnd thisلِشُرَكَائِنَاlishurakāinā(is) for our partnersفَمَاfamāBut whatكَانَkānaisلِشُرَكَائِهِمْlishurakāihimfor their partnersفَلَاfalā(does) notيَصِلُyaṣilureachإِلَىilā[to]اللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāwhile whatكَانَkānaisلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahفَهُوَfahuwathen itيَصِلُyaṣilureachesإِلَىilā[to]شُرَكَائِهِمْshurakāihimtheir partnersسَاءَsāaEvilمَاmā(is) whatيَحْكُمُونَyaḥkumūnathey judge
137. 137وَكَذَلِكَwakadhālikaAnd likewiseزَيَّنَzayyanamade pleasingلِكَثِيرٍlikathīrinto manyمِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheistsقَتْلَqatla(the) killingأَوْلَادِهِمْawlādihim(of) their childrenشُرَكَاؤُهُمْshurakāuhumtheir partnersلِيُرْدُوهُمْliyur'dūhumso that they may ruin themوَلِيَلْبِسُواwaliyalbisūand that they make confusingعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themدِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religionوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاmānotفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhu(would) they have done soفَذَرْهُمْfadharhumSo leave themوَمَاwamāand whatيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey invent
138. 138وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayهَذِهِhādhihiTheseأَنْعَامٌanʿāmuncattleوَحَرْثٌwaḥarthunand cropsحِجْرٌḥij'run(are) forbiddenلَاlāno (one)يَطْعَمُهَاyaṭʿamuhācan eat themإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْmanwhomنَشَاءُnashāuwe willبِزَعْمِهِمْbizaʿmihimby their claimوَأَنْعَامٌwa-anʿāmunAnd cattleحُرِّمَتْḥurrimatforbiddenظُهُورُهَاẓuhūruhā(are) their backsوَأَنْعَامٌwa-anʿāmunand cattleلَاlānotيَذْكُرُونَyadhkurūnathey mentionاسْمَis'ma(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon itافْتِرَاءًif'tirāan(as) an inventionعَلَيْهِʿalayhiagainst HimسَيَجْزِيهِمْsayajzīhimHe will recompense themبِمَاbimāfor whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainvent
139. 139وَقَالُواwaqālūAnd they sayمَاmāWhatفِيfī(is) inبُطُونِbuṭūni(the) wombsهَذِهِhādhihi(of) theseالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmicattleخَالِصَةٌkhāliṣatun(is) exclusivelyلِذُكُورِنَاlidhukūrināfor our malesوَمُحَرَّمٌwamuḥarramunand forbiddenعَلَىʿalāonأَزْوَاجِنَاazwājināour spousesوَإِنْwa-inBut ifيَكُنْyakunisمَيْتَةًmaytatan(born) deadفَهُمْfahumthen they (all)فِيهِfīhiin itشُرَكَاءُshurakāu(are) partnersسَيَجْزِيهِمْsayajzīhimHe will recompense themوَصْفَهُمْwaṣfahum(for) their attributionإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, Heحَكِيمٌḥakīmun(is) All-WiseعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
140. 140قَدْqadCertainlyخَسِرَkhasira(are) lostالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَتَلُواqatalūkilledأَوْلَادَهُمْawlādahumtheir childrenسَفَهًاsafahan(in) foolishnessبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeوَحَرَّمُواwaḥarramūand forbidمَاmāwhatرَزَقَهُمُrazaqahumu(bas been) provided (to) themاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahافْتِرَاءًif'tirāaninventing (lies)عَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَدْqadCertainlyضَلُّواḍallūthey have gone astrayوَمَاwamāand notكَانُواkānūthey areمُهْتَدِينَmuh'tadīnaguided-ones
141. 141وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْشَأَansha-aproducedجَنَّاتٍjannātingardensمَعْرُوشَاتٍmaʿrūshātintrellisedوَغَيْرَwaghayraand other thanمَعْرُوشَاتٍmaʿrūshātintrellisedوَالنَّخْلَwal-nakhlaand the date-palmوَالزَّرْعَwal-zarʿaand the cropsمُخْتَلِفًاmukh'talifandiverseأُكُلُهُukuluhu(are) its tasteوَالزَّيْتُونَwal-zaytūnaand the olivesوَالرُّمَّانَwal-rumānaand the pomegranatesمُتَشَابِهًاmutashābihansimilarوَغَيْرَwaghayraand other thanمُتَشَابِهٍmutashābihinsimilarكُلُواkulūEatمِنْminofثَمَرِهِthamarihiits fruitإِذَاidhāwhenأَثْمَرَathmarait bears fruitوَءَاتُواwaātūand giveحَقَّهُḥaqqahuits dueيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayحَصَادِهِḥaṣādihi(of) its harvestوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُسْرِفُواtus'rifū(be) extravagantإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed Heلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُسْرِفِينَl-mus'rifīnathe ones who are extravagant
142. 142وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmithe cattleحَمُولَةًḥamūlatan(are some for) burdenوَفَرْشًاwafarshanand (some for) meatكُلُواkulūEatمِمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumu(has been) provided (to) youاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowخُطُوَاتِkhuṭuwāti(the) footstepsالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) ShaitaanإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, heلَكُمْlakum(is) to youعَدُوٌّʿaduwwunan enemyمُبِينٌmubīnunopen
143. 143ثَمَانِيَةَthamāniyataEightأَزْوَاجٍazwājinpairsمِنَminaofالضَّأْنِl-ḍanithe sheepاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoوَمِنَwaminaand ofالْمَعْزِl-maʿzithe goatsاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoقُلْqulSayءَالذَّكَرَيْنِāldhakarayni(Are) the two malesحَرَّمَḥarramaHe has forbiddenأَمِamiorالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayaynithe two femalesأَمَّاammāor whatاشْتَمَلَتْish'tamalatcontainsعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[in it]أَرْحَامُarḥāmu(the) wombsالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayayni(of) the two femalesنَبِّئُونِيnabbiūnīInform meبِعِلْمٍbiʿil'minwith knowledgeإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
144. 144وَمِنَwaminaAnd ofالْإِبِلِl-ibilithe camelsاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoوَمِنَwaminaand ofالْبَقَرِl-baqarithe cowsاثْنَيْنِith'naynitwoقُلْqulSayءَالذَّكَرَيْنِāldhakarayni(Is it) the two malesحَرَّمَḥarramaHe (has) forbiddenأَمِamiorالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayaynithe two femalesأَمَّاammāor whatاشْتَمَلَتْish'tamalatcontainsعَلَيْهِʿalayhi[in it]أَرْحَامُarḥāmu(the) wombsالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayayni(of) the two femalesأَمْamOrكُنْتُمْkuntumwere youشُهَدَاءَshuhadāawitnessesإِذْidhwhenوَصَّاكُمُwaṣṣākumuenjoined youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِهَذَاbihādhāwith thisفَمَنْfamanThen whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنِmimmanithan (one) whoافْتَرَىif'tarāinventsعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَذِبًاkadhibana lieلِيُضِلَّliyuḍillato misleadالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutعِلْمٍʿil'minknowledgeإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoing
145. 145قُلْqulSayلَاlāNotأَجِدُajidu(do) I findفِيfīinمَاmāwhatأُوحِيَūḥiyahas been revealedإِلَيَّilayyato meمُحَرَّمًاmuḥarraman(anything) forbiddenعَلَىʿalātoطَاعِمٍṭāʿiminan eaterيَطْعَمُهُyaṭʿamuhuwho eats itإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيَكُونَyakūnait beمَيْتَةًmaytatandeadأَوْaworدَمًاdamanbloodمَسْفُوحًاmasfūḥanpoured forthأَوْaworلَحْمَlaḥma(the) fleshخِنْزِيرٍkhinzīrin(of) swineفَإِنَّهُfa-innahufor indeed, itرِجْسٌrij'sun(is) filthأَوْaworفِسْقًاfis'qan(it be) disobedienceأُهِلَّuhilla[is] dedicatedلِغَيْرِlighayrito other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِهِbihi[on it]فَمَنِfamaniBut whoeverاضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) compelledغَيْرَghayranotبَاغٍbāghindesiringوَلَاwalāand notعَادٍʿādintransgressingفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
146. 146وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd toالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُواhādūare JewsحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe forbadeكُلَّkullaeveryذِيdhī(animal) withظُفُرٍẓufurinclawsوَمِنَwaminaand ofالْبَقَرِl-baqarithe cowsوَالْغَنَمِwal-ghanamiand the sheepحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe forbadeعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themشُحُومَهُمَاshuḥūmahumātheir fatإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatحَمَلَتْḥamalatcarriedظُهُورُهُمَاẓuhūruhumātheir backsأَوِawiorالْحَوَايَاl-ḥawāyāthe entrailsأَوْaworمَاmāwhatاخْتَلَطَikh'talaṭa(is) joinedبِعَظْمٍbiʿaẓminwith the boneذَلِكَdhālikaThatجَزَيْنَاهُمْjazaynāhum(is) their recompenseبِبَغْيِهِمْbibaghyihimfor their rebellionوَإِنَّاwa-innāAnd indeed, Weلَصَادِقُونَlaṣādiqūna[surely] are truthful
147. 147فَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَذَّبُوكَkadhabūkathey deny youفَقُلْfaqulthen sayرَبُّكُمْrabbukumYour Lordذُوdhū(is the) Possessorرَحْمَةٍraḥmatin(of) MercyوَاسِعَةٍwāsiʿatinVastوَلَاwalābut notيُرَدُّyuradduwill be turned backبَأْسُهُbasuhuHis wrathعَنِʿanifromالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالْمُجْرِمِينَl-muj'rimīna(who are) criminals
148. 148سَيَقُولُsayaqūluWill sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَشْرَكُواashrakūassociate partners (with Allah)لَوْlawIfشَاءَshāaHad willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاmānotأَشْرَكْنَاashraknāwe (would) have associated partners (with Allah)وَلَاwalāand notءَابَاؤُنَاābāunāour forefathersوَلَاwalāand notحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāwe (would) have forbiddenمِنْmin[of]شَيْءٍshayinanythingكَذَلِكَkadhālikaLikewiseكَذَّبَkadhabadeniedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(were from)قَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themحَتَّىḥattāuntilذَاقُواdhāqūthey tastedبَأْسَنَاbasanāOur wrathقُلْqulSayهَلْhalIsعِنْدَكُمْʿindakumwith youمِنْmin[of]عِلْمٍʿil'minany knowledgeفَتُخْرِجُوهُfatukh'rijūhuthen produce itلَنَاlanāfor usإِنْinNotتَتَّبِعُونَtattabiʿūnayou followإِلَّاillāexceptالظَّنَّl-ẓanathe assumptionوَإِنْwa-inand notأَنْتُمْantumyou (do)إِلَّاillābutتَخْرُصُونَtakhruṣūnaguess
149. 149قُلْqulSayفَلِلَّهِfalillahiWith Allahالْحُجَّةُl-ḥujatu(is) the argumentالْبَالِغَةُl-bālighatuthe conclusiveفَلَوْfalawAnd ifشَاءَshāaHe (had) willedلَهَدَاكُمْlahadākumsurely He (would) have guided youأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall
150. 150قُلْqulSayهَلُمَّhalummaBring forwardشُهَدَاءَكُمُshuhadāakumuyour witnessesالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَشْهَدُونَyashhadūnatestifyأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahحَرَّمَḥarramaprohibitedهَذَاhādhāthisفَإِنْfa-inThen ifشَهِدُواshahidūthey testifyفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَشْهَدْtashhadtestifyمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollowأَهْوَاءَahwāa(the) desiresالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَذَّبُواkadhabūdeniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoلَاlā(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratiin the Hereafterوَهُمْwahumwhile theyبِرَبِّهِمْbirabbihimwith their Lordيَعْدِلُونَyaʿdilūnaset up equals
151. 151قُلْqulSayتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeأَتْلُatluI will reciteمَاmāwhatحَرَّمَḥarramahas prohibitedرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youأَلَّاallāThat (do) notتُشْرِكُواtush'rikūassociateبِهِbihiwith Himشَيْئًاshayananythingوَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِwabil-wālidayniand with the parentsإِحْسَانًاiḥ'sānan(be) goodوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillأَوْلَادَكُمْawlādakumyour childrenمِنْmin(out) ofإِمْلَاقٍim'lāqinpovertyنَحْنُnaḥnuWeنَرْزُقُكُمْnarzuqukumprovide for youوَإِيَّاهُمْwa-iyyāhumand for themوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْرَبُواtaqrabūgo nearالْفَوَاحِشَl-fawāḥisha[the] immoralitiesمَاmāwhatظَهَرَẓahara(is) apparentمِنْهَاmin'hāof themوَمَاwamāand whatبَطَنَbaṭana(is) concealedوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillالنَّفْسَl-nafsathe soulالَّتِيallatīwhichحَرَّمَḥarramahas (been) forbiddenاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahإِلَّاillāexceptبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiby (legal) rightذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatوَصَّاكُمْwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on youبِهِbihiwith itلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnause reason
152. 152وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْرَبُواtaqrabūgo nearمَالَmālawealthالْيَتِيمِl-yatīmi(of) the orphansإِلَّاillāexceptبِالَّتِيbi-allatīwith thatهِيَhiyawhichأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) bestحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَبْلُغَyablughahe reachesأَشُدَّهُashuddahuhis maturityوَأَوْفُواwa-awfūAnd give fullالْكَيْلَl-kayla[the] measureوَالْمِيزَانَwal-mīzānaand the weightبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiwith justiceلَاlāNotنُكَلِّفُnukallifuWe burdenنَفْسًاnafsanany soulإِلَّاillāexceptوُسْعَهَاwus'ʿahā(to) its capacityوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقُلْتُمْqul'tumyou speakفَاعْدِلُواfa-iʿ'dilūthen be justوَلَوْwalaweven ifكَانَkānahe isذَاdhā(one of)قُرْبَىqur'bāa near relativeوَبِعَهْدِwabiʿahdiAnd (the) Covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahأَوْفُواawfūfulfilذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatوَصَّاكُمْwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on youبِهِbihiwith itلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَذَكَّرُونَtadhakkarūnaremember
153. 153وَأَنَّwa-annaAnd thatهَذَاhādhāthisصِرَاطِيṣirāṭī(is) My pathمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīmanstraightفَاتَّبِعُوهُfa-ittabiʿūhuso follow itوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowالسُّبُلَl-subulathe (other) pathsفَتَفَرَّقَfatafarraqathen they will separateبِكُمْbikumyouعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِهِsabīlihiHis pathذَلِكُمْdhālikumThatوَصَّاكُمْwaṣṣākum(He) has enjoined on youبِهِbihi[with it]لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَتَّقُونَtattaqūnabecome righteous
154. 154ثُمَّthummaMoreoverءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookتَمَامًاtamāmancompleting (Our Favor)عَلَىʿalāonالَّذِيalladhīthe one whoأَحْسَنَaḥsanadid goodوَتَفْصِيلًاwatafṣīlanand an explanationلِكُلِّlikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingوَهُدًىwahudanand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand mercyلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumso that they mayبِلِقَاءِbiliqāiin (the) meetingرَبِّهِمْrabbihim(with) their Lordيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieve
155. 155وَهَذَاwahādhāAnd thisكِتَابٌkitābun(is) a BookأَنْزَلْنَاهُanzalnāhuWe have revealed itمُبَارَكٌmubārakunblessedفَاتَّبِعُوهُfa-ittabiʿūhuso follow itوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūand fear (Allah)لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
156. 156أَنْanLestتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedالْكِتَابُl-kitābuthe Bookعَلَىʿalāonطَائِفَتَيْنِṭāifataynithe two groupsمِنْminfromقَبْلِنَاqablinābefore usوَإِنْwa-inand indeedكُنَّاkunnāwe wereعَنْʿanaboutدِرَاسَتِهِمْdirāsatihimtheir studyلَغَافِلِينَlaghāfilīnacertainly unaware
157. 157أَوْawOrتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayلَوْlawIfأَنَّاannā[that]أُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usالْكِتَابُl-kitābuthe Bookلَكُنَّاlakunnāsurely we (would) have beenأَهْدَىahdābetter guidedمِنْهُمْmin'humthan themفَقَدْfaqadSo verilyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youبَيِّنَةٌbayyinatunclear proofsمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَهُدًىwahudanand a Guidanceوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand a MercyفَمَنْfamanThen whoأَظْلَمُaẓlamu(is) more unjustمِمَّنْmimmanthan (he) whoكَذَّبَkadhabadeniesبِءَايَاتِbiāyāti[with] (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَصَدَفَwaṣadafaand turns awayعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom themسَنَجْزِيsanajzīWe will recompenseالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn awayعَنْʿanfromءَايَاتِنَاāyātināOur Signsسُوءَsūa(with) an evilالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābipunishmentبِمَاbimābecauseكَانُواkānūthey used toيَصْدِفُونَyaṣdifūnaturn away
158. 158هَلْhalAreيَنْظُرُونَyanẓurūnathey waitingإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatتَأْتِيَهُمُtatiyahumucomes to themالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsأَوْaworيَأْتِيَyatiyacomesرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordأَوْaworيَأْتِيَyatiyacomesبَعْضُbaʿḍusome (of)ءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Signsرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordيَوْمَyawma(The) Dayيَأْتِيyatī(when) comesبَعْضُbaʿḍusome (of)ءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Signsرَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lordلَاlānotيَنْفَعُyanfaʿuwill benefitنَفْسًاnafsana soulإِيمَانُهَاīmānuhāits faithلَمْlamnotتَكُنْtakun(if) it hadءَامَنَتْāmanatbelievedمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeأَوْaworكَسَبَتْkasabatearnedفِيfīthroughإِيمَانِهَاīmānihāits faithخَيْرًاkhayranany goodقُلِquliSayانْتَظِرُواintaẓirūWaitإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weمُنْتَظِرُونَmuntaẓirūna(are) those who wait
159. 159إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoفَرَّقُواfarraqūdivideدِينَهُمْdīnahumtheir religionوَكَانُواwakānūand becomeشِيَعًاshiyaʿansectsلَسْتَlastayou are notمِنْهُمْmin'humwith themفِيfīinشَيْءٍshayinanythingإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyأَمْرُهُمْamruhumtheir affairإِلَىilā(is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahثُمَّthummathenيُنَبِّئُهُمْyunabbi-uhumHe will inform themبِمَاbimāof whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnado
160. 160مَنْmanWhoeverجَاءَjāacameبِالْحَسَنَةِbil-ḥasanatiwith a good deedفَلَهُfalahuthen for himعَشْرُʿashru(is) ten (times)أَمْثَالِهَاamthālihāthe like of itوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverجَاءَjāacameبِالسَّيِّئَةِbil-sayi-atiwith an evil deedفَلَاfalāthen notيُجْزَىyuj'zāhe will be recompensedإِلَّاillāexceptمِثْلَهَاmith'lahāthe like of itوَهُمْwahumand theyلَاlāwill notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūna(be) wronged
161. 161قُلْqulSayإِنَّنِيinnanīIndeed (as for) meهَدَانِيhadānīhas guided meرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraightدِينًاdīnana religionقِيَمًاqiyamanrightمِلَّةَmillatareligionإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimحَنِيفًاḥanīfana true monotheistوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminafromالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
162. 162قُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedصَلَاتِيṣalātīmy prayerوَنُسُكِيwanusukīand my rites of sacrificeوَمَحْيَايَwamaḥyāyaand my livingوَمَمَاتِيwamamātīand my dyingلِلَّهِlillahi(are) for AllahرَبِّrabbiLordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
163. 163لَاlāNoشَرِيكَsharīkapartnersلَهُlahufor Himوَبِذَلِكَwabidhālikaand with thatأُمِرْتُumir'tuI have been commandedوَأَنَاwa-anāAnd I amأَوَّلُawwalu(the) firstالْمُسْلِمِينَl-mus'limīna(of) the ones who surrender (to Him)
164. 164قُلْqulSayأَغَيْرَaghayraIs (it) other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَبْغِيabghīI (should) seekرَبًّاrabban(as) a Lordوَهُوَwahuwawhile Heرَبُّrabbu(is) the Lordكُلِّkulli(of) everyشَيْءٍshayinthingوَلَاwalāAnd notتَكْسِبُtaksibuearnsكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulإِلَّاillāexceptعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāagainst itselfوَلَاwalāand notتَزِرُtazirubearsوَازِرَةٌwāziratunany bearer of burdenوِزْرَwiz'raburdenأُخْرَىukh'rā(of) anotherثُمَّthummaThenإِلَىilātoرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your returnفَيُنَبِّئُكُمْfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform youبِمَاbimāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereفِيهِfīhiconcerning itتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffering
165. 165وَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoجَعَلَكُمْjaʿalakum(has) made youخَلَائِفَkhalāifasuccessorsالْأَرْضِl-arḍi(of) the earthوَرَفَعَwarafaʿaand raisedبَعْضَكُمْbaʿḍakumsome of youفَوْقَfawqaaboveبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersدَرَجَاتٍdarajātin(in) ranksلِيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumso that He may test youفِيfīinمَاmāwhatءَاتَاكُمْātākumHe has given youإِنَّinnaIndeedرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) swiftالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) the punishmentوَإِنَّهُwa-innahuand indeed He (is)لَغَفُورٌlaghafūrun[certainly] Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
