Surah 5 — Al-Maaida

1. 1يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!أَوْفُواawfūFulfilبِالْعُقُودِbil-ʿuqūdithe contractsأُحِلَّتْuḥillatAre made lawfulلَكُمْlakumfor youبَهِيمَةُbahīmatuthe quadrupedالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmi(of) the grazing livestockإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatيُتْلَىyut'lāis recitedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youغَيْرَghayranotمُحِلِّيmuḥillībeing permittedالصَّيْدِl-ṣaydi(to) huntوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youحُرُمٌḥurumun(are in) IhramإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَحْكُمُyaḥkumudecreesمَاmāwhatيُرِيدُyurīduHe wills
2. 2يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتُحِلُّواtuḥillūviolateشَعَائِرَshaʿāira(the) ritesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand notالشَّهْرَl-shahrathe monthالْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmathe sacredوَلَاwalāand notالْهَدْيَl-hadyathe sacrificial animalsوَلَاwalāand notالْقَلَائِدَl-qalāidathe garlandedوَلَاwalāand notءَامِّينَāmmīna(those) comingالْبَيْتَl-bayta(to) the Houseالْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmathe SacredيَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseekingفَضْلًاfaḍlanBountyمِنْminofرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordوَرِضْوَانًاwariḍ'wānanand good pleasureوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenحَلَلْتُمْḥalaltumyou come out of Ihramفَاصْطَادُواfa-iṣ'ṭādūthen (you may) huntوَلَاwalāAnd let notيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakumincite youشَنَءَانُshanaānu(the) hatredقَوْمٍqawmin(for) a peopleأَنْanasصَدُّوكُمْṣaddūkumthey stopped youعَنِʿanifromالْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiAl-Masjidالْحَرَامِl-ḥarāmiAl-Haraamأَنْanthatتَعْتَدُواtaʿtadūyou commit transgressionوَتَعَاوَنُواwataʿāwanūAnd help one anotherعَلَىʿalāinالْبِرِّl-biri[the] righteousnessوَالتَّقْوَىwal-taqwāand [the] pietyوَلَاwalābut (do) notتَعَاوَنُواtaʿāwanūhelp one anotherعَلَىʿalāinالْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sinوَالْعُدْوَانِwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgressionوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaindeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) [the] punishment
3. 3حُرِّمَتْḥurrimatAre made unlawfulعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuon youالْمَيْتَةُl-maytatuthe dead animalsوَالدَّمُwal-damuand the bloodوَلَحْمُwalaḥmuand fleshالْخِنْزِيرِl-khinzīri(of) the swineوَمَاwamāand whatأُهِلَّuhillahas been dedicatedلِغَيْرِlighayrito other thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahبِهِbihi[on it]وَالْمُنْخَنِقَةُwal-mun'khaniqatuand that which is strangled (to death)وَالْمَوْقُوذَةُwal-mawqūdhatuand that which is hit fatallyوَالْمُتَرَدِّيَةُwal-mutaradiyatuand that which has a fatal fallوَالنَّطِيحَةُwal-naṭīḥatuand that which is gored by hornsوَمَاwamāand that whichأَكَلَakalaate (it)السَّبُعُl-sabuʿuthe wild animalإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatذَكَّيْتُمْdhakkaytumyou slaughteredوَمَاwamāand whatذُبِحَdhubiḥais sacrificedعَلَىʿalāonالنُّصُبِl-nuṣubithe stone altarsوَأَنْwa-anand thatتَسْتَقْسِمُواtastaqsimūyou seek divisionبِالْأَزْلَامِbil-azlāmiby divining arrowsذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatفِسْقٌfis'qun(is) grave disobedienceالْيَوْمَl-yawmaThis dayيَئِسَya-isa(have) despairedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminofدِينِكُمْdīnikumyour religionفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَخْشَوْهُمْtakhshawhumfear themوَاخْشَوْنِwa-ikh'shawnibut fear Meالْيَوْمَl-yawmaThis dayأَكْمَلْتُakmaltuI have perfectedلَكُمْlakumfor youدِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religionوَأَتْمَمْتُwa-atmamtuand I have completedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youنِعْمَتِيniʿ'matīMy Favorوَرَضِيتُwaraḍītuand I have approvedلَكُمُlakumufor youالْإِسْلَامَl-is'lāma[the] Islamدِينًاdīnan(as) a religionفَمَنِfamaniBut whoeverاضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) forcedفِيfībyمَخْمَصَةٍmakhmaṣatinhungerغَيْرَghayra(and) notمُتَجَانِفٍmutajānifinincliningلِإِثْمٍli-ith'minto sinفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
4. 4يَسْءَلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask youمَاذَاmādhāwhatأُحِلَّuḥilla(is) made lawfulلَهُمْlahumfor themقُلْqulSayأُحِلَّuḥillaAre made lawfulلَكُمُlakumufor youالطَّيِّبَاتُl-ṭayibātuthe good thingsوَمَاwamāand whatعَلَّمْتُمْʿallamtumyou have taughtمِنَminaofالْجَوَارِحِl-jawāriḥi(your) hunting animalsمُكَلِّبِينَmukallibīnaones who train animals to huntتُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّtuʿallimūnahunnayou teach themمِمَّاmimmāof whatعَلَّمَكُمُʿallamakumuhas taught youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَكُلُواfakulūSo eatمِمَّاmimmāof whatأَمْسَكْنَamsaknathey catchعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youوَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūbut mentionاسْمَis'ma(the) nameاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhion itوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūand fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَرِيعُsarīʿuis swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in taking) account
5. 5الْيَوْمَal-yawmaThis dayأُحِلَّuḥillaare made lawfulلَكُمُlakumufor youالطَّيِّبَاتُl-ṭayibātuthe good thingsوَطَعَامُwaṭaʿāmuand (the) foodالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookحِلٌّḥillun(is) lawfulلَكُمْlakumfor youوَطَعَامُكُمْwaṭaʿāmukumand your foodحِلٌّḥillun(is) lawfulلَهُمْlahumfor themوَالْمُحْصَنَاتُwal-muḥ'ṣanātuAnd the chaste womenمِنَminafromالْمُؤْمِنَاتِl-mu'minātithe believersوَالْمُحْصَنَاتُwal-muḥ'ṣanātuand the chaste womenمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youإِذَاidhāwhenءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّātaytumūhunnayou have given themأُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal dueمُحْصِنِينَmuḥ'ṣinīnabeing chasteغَيْرَghayranotمُسَافِحِينَmusāfiḥīnabeing lewdوَلَاwalāand notمُتَّخِذِيmuttakhidhīones (who are) takingأَخْدَانٍakhdāninsecret loversوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَكْفُرْyakfurdeniesبِالْإِيمَانِbil-īmānithe faithفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyحَبِطَḥabiṭa(are) wastedعَمَلُهُʿamaluhuhis deedsوَهُوَwahuwaand heفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterمِنَmina(will be) amongالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
6. 6يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveإِذَاidhāWhenقُمْتُمْqum'tumyou stand upإِلَىilāforالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerفَاغْسِلُواfa-igh'silūthen washوُجُوهَكُمْwujūhakumyour facesوَأَيْدِيَكُمْwa-aydiyakumand your handsإِلَىilātillالْمَرَافِقِl-marāfiqithe elbowsوَامْسَحُواwa-im'saḥūand wipeبِرُءُوسِكُمْbiruūsikumyour headsوَأَرْجُلَكُمْwa-arjulakumand your feetإِلَىilātillالْكَعْبَيْنِl-kaʿbaynithe anklesوَإِنْwa-inBut ifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areجُنُبًاjunuban(in) a state of ceremonial impurityفَاطَّهَّرُواfa-iṭṭahharūthen purify yourselvesوَإِنْwa-inBut ifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمَرْضَىmarḍāillأَوْaworعَلَىʿalāonسَفَرٍsafarina journeyأَوْaworجَاءَjāahas comeأَحَدٌaḥadunany oneمِنْكُمْminkumof youمِنَminafromالْغَائِطِl-ghāiṭithe toiletأَوْaworلَامَسْتُمُlāmastumuhas (had) contactالنِّسَاءَl-nisāa(with) the womenفَلَمْfalamand notتَجِدُواtajidūyou findمَاءًmāanwaterفَتَيَمَّمُواfatayammamūthen do tayyammumصَعِيدًاṣaʿīdan(with) earthطَيِّبًاṭayyibancleanفَامْسَحُواfa-im'saḥūthen wipeبِوُجُوهِكُمْbiwujūhikumyour facesوَأَيْدِيكُمْwa-aydīkumand your handsمِنْهُmin'huwith itمَاmāDoes notيُرِيدُyurīduintendاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيَجْعَلَliyajʿalato makeعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor youمِنْminanyحَرَجٍḥarajindifficultyوَلَكِنْwalākinbutيُرِيدُyurīduHe intendsلِيُطَهِّرَكُمْliyuṭahhirakumto purify youوَلِيُتِمَّwaliyutimmaand to completeنِعْمَتَهُniʿ'matahuHis Favorعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūna(be) grateful
7. 7وَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūAnd rememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَمِيثَاقَهُwamīthāqahuand His covenantالَّذِيalladhīwhichوَاثَقَكُمْwāthaqakumHe bound youبِهِbihiwith [it]إِذْidhwhenقُلْتُمْqul'tumyou saidسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe hearedوَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnāand we obeyedوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūand fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowerبِذَاتِbidhātiof whatالصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts
8. 8يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveكُونُواkūnūBeقَوَّامِينَqawwāmīnasteadfastلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahشُهَدَاءَshuhadāa(as) witnessesبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiin justiceوَلَاwalāand let notيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakumprevent youشَنَءَانُshanaānuhatredقَوْمٍqawmin(of) a peopleعَلَىʿalā[upon]أَلَّاallāthat notتَعْدِلُواtaʿdilūyou do justiceاعْدِلُواiʿ'dilūBe justهُوَhuwaitأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearerلِلتَّقْوَىlilttaqwāto [the] pietyوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنَّinnaindeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
9. 9وَعَدَwaʿadaHas promisedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsلَهُمْlahumfor themمَغْفِرَةٌmaghfiratun(is) forgivenessوَأَجْرٌwa-ajrunand a rewardعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
10. 10وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveوَكَذَّبُواwakadhabūand denyبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire
11. 11يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!اذْكُرُواudh'kurūRememberنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِذْidhwhenهَمَّhamma(were) determinedقَوْمٌqawmuna peopleأَنْan[to]يَبْسُطُواyabsuṭūstretchإِلَيْكُمْilaykumtowards youأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsفَكَفَّfakaffabut He restrainedأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkaliso let put the trustالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
12. 12وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyأَخَذَakhadhatookاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِيثَاقَmīthāqaa Covenantبَنِيbanī(from the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelوَبَعَثْنَاwabaʿathnāand We appointedمِنْهُمُmin'humuamong themاثْنَيْith'naytwoعَشَرَʿashara(and) tenنَقِيبًاnaqībanleadersوَقَالَwaqālaAnd saidاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِنِّيinnīIndeed, I (am)مَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youلَئِنْla-inifأَقَمْتُمُaqamtumuyou establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتَيْتُمُwaātaytumuand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatathe zakahوَءَامَنْتُمْwaāmantumand you believeبِرُسُلِيbirusulīin My Messengersوَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْwaʿazzartumūhumand you assist themوَأَقْرَضْتُمُwa-aqraḍtumuand you loanاللَّهَl-laha(to) Allahقَرْضًاqarḍana loanحَسَنًاḥasanangoodlyلَأُكَفِّرَنَّla-ukaffirannasurely I will removeعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youسَيِّئَاتِكُمْsayyiātikumyour evil deedsوَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْwala-ud'khilannakumand I will surely admit youجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversفَمَنْfamanBut whoeverكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatمِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَقَدْfaqadthen certainlyضَلَّḍallahe strayedسَوَاءَsawāa(from) the wayالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe right
13. 13فَبِمَاfabimāSo forنَقْضِهِمْnaqḍihimtheir breakingمِيثَاقَهُمْmīthāqahum(of) their covenantلَعَنَّاهُمْlaʿannāhumWe cursed themوَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We madeقُلُوبَهُمْqulūbahumtheir heartsقَاسِيَةًqāsiyatanhardيُحَرِّفُونَyuḥarrifūnaThey distortالْكَلِمَl-kalimathe wordsعَنْʿanfromمَوَاضِعِهِmawāḍiʿihitheir placesوَنَسُواwanasūand forgotحَظًّاḥaẓẓana partمِمَّاmimmāof whatذُكِّرُواdhukkirūthey were remindedبِهِbihiof [it]وَلَاwalāAnd notتَزَالُtazāluwill you ceaseتَطَّلِعُtaṭṭaliʿuto discoverعَلَىʿalāofخَائِنَةٍkhāinatintreacheryمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana fewمِنْهُمْmin'humof themفَاعْفُfa-uʿ'fuBut forgiveعَنْهُمْʿanhumthemوَاصْفَحْwa-iṣ'faḥand overlookإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
14. 14وَمِنَwaminaAnd fromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsaidإِنَّاinnāIndeed weنَصَارَىnaṣārā(are) ChristiansأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe tookمِيثَاقَهُمْmīthāqahumtheir covenantفَنَسُواfanasūbut they forgotحَظًّاḥaẓẓana partمِمَّاmimmāof whatذُكِّرُواdhukkirūthey were remindedبِهِbihiof [it]فَأَغْرَيْنَاfa-aghraynāSo We arousedبَيْنَهُمُbaynahumubetween themالْعَدَاوَةَl-ʿadāwata[the] enmityوَالْبَغْضَاءَwal-baghḍāaand [the] hatredإِلَىilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the ResurrectionوَسَوْفَwasawfaAnd soonيُنَبِّئُهُمُyunabbi-uhumuwill inform themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِمَاbimāof whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnado
15. 15يَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookقَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youرَسُولُنَاrasūlunāOur Messengerيُبَيِّنُyubayyinumaking clearلَكُمْlakumto youكَثِيرًاkathīranmuchمِمَّاmimmāof whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتُخْفُونَtukh'fūnaconcealمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Scriptureوَيَعْفُواwayaʿfūand overlookingعَنْʿanofكَثِيرٍkathīrinmuchقَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahنُورٌnūruna lightوَكِتَابٌwakitābunand a Bookمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
16. 16يَهْدِيyahdīGuidesبِهِbihiwith itاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَنِmani(those) whoاتَّبَعَittabaʿaseekرِضْوَانَهُriḍ'wānahuHis pleasureسُبُلَsubula(to the) waysالسَّلَامِl-salāmi(of) the peaceوَيُخْرِجُهُمْwayukh'rijuhumand brings them outمِنَminafromالظُّلُمَاتِl-ẓulumātithe darknessessإِلَىilātoالنُّورِl-nūrithe lightبِإِذْنِهِbi-idh'nihiby His permissionوَيَهْدِيهِمْwayahdīhimand guides themإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭin(the) wayمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīmin(the) straight
17. 17لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsaidإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the Messiahابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) MaryamقُلْqulSayفَمَنْfamanThen whoيَمْلِكُyamlikuhas powerمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingإِنْinifأَرَادَarādaHe intendsأَنْantoيُهْلِكَyuh'likadestroyالْمَسِيحَl-masīḥathe Messiahابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamوَأُمَّهُwa-ummahuand his motherوَمَنْwamanand whoeverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whatبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between both of themيَخْلُقُyakhluquHe createsمَاmāwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
18. 18وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd saidالْيَهُودُl-yahūduthe Jewsوَالنَّصَارَىwal-naṣārāand the ChristiansنَحْنُnaḥnuWe (are)أَبْنَؤُاabnāu(the) childrenاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأَحِبَّاؤُهُwa-aḥibbāuhuand His belovedقُلْqulSayفَلِمَfalimaThen whyيُعَذِّبُكُمْyuʿadhibukum(does He) punish youبِذُنُوبِكُمْbidhunūbikumfor your sinsبَلْbalNayأَنْتُمْantumyou (are)بَشَرٌbasharunhuman beingsمِمَّنْmimmanfrom among (those)خَلَقَkhalaqaHe createdيَغْفِرُyaghfiruHe forgivesلِمَنْliman[for] whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whateverبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumā(is) between themوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Himالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the final return
19. 19يَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Book!قَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youرَسُولُنَاrasūlunāOur Messengerيُبَيِّنُyubayyinuhe makes clearلَكُمْlakumto youعَلَىʿalā[on]فَتْرَةٍfatratin(after) an interval (of cessation)مِنَminaofالرُّسُلِl-rusulithe Messengersأَنْanlestتَقُولُواtaqūlūyou sayمَاmāNotجَاءَنَاjāanā(has) come to usمِنْminanyبَشِيرٍbashīrinbearer of glad tidingsوَلَاwalāand notنَذِيرٍnadhīrina warnerفَقَدْfaqadBut surelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youبَشِيرٌbashīruna bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرٌwanadhīrunand a warnerوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
20. 20وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqālasaidمُوسَىmūsāMusaلِقَوْمِهِliqawmihito his peopleيَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleاذْكُرُواudh'kurūrememberنِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِذْidhwhenجَعَلَjaʿalaHe placedفِيكُمْfīkumamong youأَنْبِيَاءَanbiyāaProphetsوَجَعَلَكُمْwajaʿalakumand made youمُلُوكًاmulūkankingsوَءَاتَاكُمْwaātākumand He gave youمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotيُؤْتِyu'tiHe (had) givenأَحَدًاaḥadan(to) anyoneمِنَminafromالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
21. 21يَاقَوْمِyāqawmiO my peopleادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterالْأَرْضَl-arḍathe landالْمُقَدَّسَةَl-muqadasatathe Holyالَّتِيallatīwhichكَتَبَkataba(has been) ordainedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَرْتَدُّواtartaddūturnعَلَىʿalāonأَدْبَارِكُمْadbārikumyour backsفَتَنْقَلِبُواfatanqalibūthen you will turn backخَاسِرِينَkhāsirīna(as) losers
22. 22قَالُواqālūThey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO Musa!إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيهَاfīhāin itقَوْمًاqawman(are) peopleجَبَّارِينَjabbārīna(of) tyrannical strengthوَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed weلَنْlanneverنَدْخُلَهَاnadkhulahāwill enter itحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَخْرُجُواyakhrujūthey leaveمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itفَإِنْfa-inand ifيَخْرُجُواyakhrujūthey leaveمِنْهَاmin'hā[from] itفَإِنَّاfa-innāthen certainly we (will)دَاخِلُونَdākhilūnaenter (it)
23. 23قَالَqālaSaidرَجُلَانِrajulānitwo menمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafeared (Allah)أَنْعَمَanʿama(had) favoredاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimā[on] both of themادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon themالْبَابَl-bāba(through) the gateفَإِذَاfa-idhāthen whenدَخَلْتُمُوهُdakhaltumūhuyou have entered itفَإِنَّكُمْfa-innakumthen indeed, you (will be)غَالِبُونَghālibūnavictoriousوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd uponاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَتَوَكَّلُواfatawakkalūthen put your trustإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
24. 24قَالُواqālūThey saidيَامُوسَىyāmūsāO MusaإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weلَنْlanneverنَدْخُلَهَاnadkhulahāwill enter itأَبَدًاabadaneverمَاmāforدَامُواdāmūas long as they areفِيهَاfīhāin itفَاذْهَبْfa-idh'habSo goأَنْتَantayouوَرَبُّكَwarabbukaand your Lordفَقَاتِلَاfaqātilāand you both fightإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weهَاهُنَاhāhunāare [here]قَاعِدُونَqāʿidūnasitting
25. 25قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiO my LordإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iلَاlā(do) notأَمْلِكُamliku(have) powerإِلَّاillāexceptنَفْسِيnafsī(over) myselfوَأَخِيwa-akhīand my brotherفَافْرُقْfa-uf'ruqso (make a) separationبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usوَبَيْنَwabaynaand betweenالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالْفَاسِقِينَl-fāsiqīna(the) defiantly disobedient
26. 26قَالَqāla(Allah) saidفَإِنَّهَاfa-innahāThen indeed itمُحَرَّمَةٌmuḥarramatun(will be) forbiddenعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themأَرْبَعِينَarbaʿīna(for) fortyسَنَةًsanatanyearsيَتِيهُونَyatīhūnathey will wanderفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَأْسَtasagrieveعَلَىʿalāoverالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالْفَاسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient
27. 27وَاتْلُwa-ut'luAnd reciteعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themنَبَأَnaba-athe storyابْنَيْib'nay(of) two sonsءَادَمَādama(of) Adamبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthإِذْidhwhenقَرَّبَاqarrabāboth offeredقُرْبَانًاqur'bānana sacrificeفَتُقُبِّلَfatuqubbilaand it was acceptedمِنْminfromأَحَدِهِمَاaḥadihimāone of themوَلَمْwalamand notيُتَقَبَّلْyutaqabbalwas acceptedمِنَminafromالْءَاخَرِl-ākharithe otherقَالَqālaSaid (the latter)لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَla-aqtulannakaSurely I will kill youقَالَqālaSaid (the former)إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيَتَقَبَّلُyataqabbaluacceptsاللَّهُl-lahu(does) Allahمِنَminafromالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe God fearing
28. 28لَئِنْla-inIfبَسَطْتَbasaṭtayou stretchإِلَيَّilayyatowards meيَدَكَyadakayour handلِتَقْتُلَنِيlitaqtulanīto kill meمَاmānotأَنَاanāwill Iبِبَاسِطٍbibāsiṭinstretchيَدِيَyadiyamy handإِلَيْكَilaykatowards youلِأَقْتُلَكَli-aqtulakato kill youإِنِّيinnīindeed Iأَخَافُakhāfufearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبَّrabba(the) Lordالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
29. 29إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iأُرِيدُurīduwishأَنْanthatتَبُوأَtabūayou be ladenبِإِثْمِيbi-ith'mīwith my sinوَإِثْمِكَwa-ith'mikaand your sinفَتَكُونَfatakūnaso you will beمِنْminamongأَصْحَابِaṣḥābi(the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireوَذَلِكَwadhālikaand thatجَزَؤُاjazāu(is the) recompenseالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrong-doers
30. 30فَطَوَّعَتْfaṭawwaʿatThen promptedلَهُlahuto himنَفْسُهُnafsuhuhis soulقَتْلَqatla(to) killأَخِيهِakhīhihis brotherفَقَتَلَهُfaqatalahuso he killed himفَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaand becameمِنَminaofالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
31. 31فَبَعَثَfabaʿathaThen (was) sentاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahغُرَابًاghurābana crowيَبْحَثُyabḥathuit (was) scratchingفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthلِيُرِيَهُliyuriyahuto show himكَيْفَkayfahowيُوَارِيyuwārīto hideسَوْءَةَsawata(the) dead bodyأَخِيهِakhīhi(of) his brotherقَالَqālaHe saidيَاوَيْلَتَىyāwaylatāWoe to meأَعَجَزْتُaʿajaztuAm I unableأَنْanthatأَكُونَakūnaI can beمِثْلَmith'lalikeهَذَاhādhāthisالْغُرَابِl-ghurābi[the] crowفَأُوَارِيَfa-uwāriyaand hideسَوْءَةَsawata(the) dead bodyأَخِيakhī(of) my brotherفَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaThen he becameمِنَminaofالنَّادِمِينَl-nādimīnathe regretful
32. 32مِنْminFromأَجْلِajlitimeذَلِكَdhālikathatكَتَبْنَاkatabnāWe ordainedعَلَىʿalāonبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelأَنَّهُannahuthat heمَنْmanwhoقَتَلَqatalakillsنَفْسًاnafsana personبِغَيْرِbighayriother thanنَفْسٍnafsin(for) a lifeأَوْaworفَسَادٍfasādin(for) spreading corruptionفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَكَأَنَّمَاfaka-annamāthen (it) is as ifقَتَلَqatalahe has killedالنَّاسَl-nāsamankindجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallوَمَنْwamanand whoeverأَحْيَاهَاaḥyāhāsaves itفَكَأَنَّمَاfaka-annamāthen (it) is as ifأَحْيَاaḥyāhe has savedالنَّاسَl-nāsamankindجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surelyجَاءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to themرُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur Messengersبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith clear Signsثُمَّthummayetإِنَّinnaindeedكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthلَمُسْرِفُونَlamus'rifūna(are) surely those who commit excesses
33. 33إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyجَزَاءُjazāu(the) recompenseالَّذِينَalladhīna(for) those whoيُحَارِبُونَyuḥāribūnawage warاللَّهَl-laha(against) Allahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerوَيَسْعَوْنَwayasʿawnaand striveفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَسَادًاfasādanspreading corruptionأَنْan(is) thatيُقَتَّلُواyuqattalūthey be killedأَوْaworيُصَلَّبُواyuṣallabūthey be crucifiedأَوْaworتُقَطَّعَtuqaṭṭaʿabe cut offأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsوَأَرْجُلُهُمْwa-arjuluhumand their feetمِنْminofخِلَافٍkhilāfinopposite sidesأَوْaworيُنْفَوْاyunfawthey be exiledمِنَminafromالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe landذَلِكَdhālikaThatلَهُمْlahum(is) for themخِزْيٌkhiz'yundisgraceفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
34. 34إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَابُواtābūrepentمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْanthatتَقْدِرُواtaqdirūyou overpowerعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim[over] themفَاعْلَمُواfa-iʿ'lamūthen knowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
35. 35يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!اتَّقُواittaqūFearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَابْتَغُواwa-ib'taghūand seekإِلَيْهِilayhitowards Himالْوَسِيلَةَl-wasīlatathe meansوَجَاهِدُواwajāhidūand strive hardفِيfīinسَبِيلِهِsabīlihiHis wayلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnasucceed
36. 36إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveلَوْlawifأَنَّannathatلَهُمْlahumfor themمَاmā(is) whatفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallوَمِثْلَهُwamith'lahuand the like of itمَعَهُmaʿahuwith itلِيَفْتَدُواliyaftadūto ransom themselvesبِهِbihiwith itمِنْminfromعَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishmentيَوْمِyawmi(of the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionمَاmānotتُقُبِّلَtuqubbilawill be acceptedمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
37. 37يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey will wishأَنْanthatيَخْرُجُواyakhrujūthey come outمِنَminaofالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireوَمَاwamābut notهُمْhumtheyبِخَارِجِينَbikhārijīnawill come outمِنْهَاmin'hāof itوَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentمُقِيمٌmuqīmunlasting
38. 38وَالسَّارِقُwal-sāriquAnd (for) the male thiefوَالسَّارِقَةُwal-sāriqatuand the female thiefفَاقْطَعُواfa-iq'ṭaʿū[then] cut offأَيْدِيَهُمَاaydiyahumātheir handsجَزَاءًjazāan(as) a recompenseبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبَاkasabāthey earnedنَكَالًاnakālan(as) an exemplary (punishment)مِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
39. 39فَمَنْfamanBut whoeverتَابَtābarepentedمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterظُلْمِهِẓul'mihihis wrongdoingوَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reformsفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَتُوبُyatūbuwill turn in forgivenessعَلَيْهِʿalayhito himإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
40. 40أَلَمْalamDo notتَعْلَمْtaʿlamyou knowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَهُlahuto Him (belongs)مُلْكُmul'kuthe dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthيُعَذِّبُyuʿadhibuHe punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيَغْفِرُwayaghfiruand He forgivesلِمَنْliman[to] whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
41. 41يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالرَّسُولُl-rasūluMessengerلَاlāLet notيَحْزُنْكَyaḥzunkagrieve youالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُسَارِعُونَyusāriʿūnahastenفِيfīin (to)الْكُفْرِl-kuf'ri[the] disbeliefمِنَminaofالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsaidءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِأَفْوَاهِهِمْbi-afwāhihimwith their mouthsوَلَمْwalamand notتُؤْمِنْtu'minbelieveقُلُوبُهُمْqulūbuhumtheir heartsوَمِنَwaminaand fromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُواhādū(are) JewsسَمَّاعُونَsammāʿūnaThey (are) listenersلِلْكَذِبِlil'kadhibito falsehoodسَمَّاعُونَsammāʿūna(and) listenersلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor peopleءَاخَرِينَākharīnaotherلَمْlam(who have) notيَأْتُوكَyatūkacome to youيُحَرِّفُونَyuḥarrifūnaThey distortالْكَلِمَl-kalimathe wordsمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَوَاضِعِهِmawāḍiʿihitheir contextيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingإِنْinIfأُوتِيتُمْūtītumyou are givenهَذَاhādhāthisفَخُذُوهُfakhudhūhu[so] take itوَإِنْwa-inbut ifلَمْlamnotتُؤْتَوْهُtu'tawhuyou are given itفَاحْذَرُواfa-iḥ'dharūthen bewareوَمَنْwamanAnd (for) whomيُرِدِyuridiintendsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفِتْنَتَهُfit'natahuhis trialفَلَنْfalanthen neverتَمْلِكَtamlikawill you have powerلَهُlahufor himمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَيْئًاshayananythingأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the onesلَمْlamneverيُرِدِyuridiwill intendاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْanthatيُطَهِّرَyuṭahhiraHe purifiesقُلُوبَهُمْqulūbahumtheir heartsلَهُمْlahumFor themفِيfīinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldخِزْيٌkhiz'yun(is) disgraceوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themفِيfīinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
42. 42سَمَّاعُونَsammāʿūnaListenersلِلْكَذِبِlil'kadhibito [the] falsehoodأَكَّالُونَakkālūnadevourersلِلسُّحْتِlilssuḥ'tiof the forbiddenفَإِنْfa-inSo ifجَاءُوكَjāūkathey come to youفَاحْكُمْfa-uḥ'kumthen judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themأَوْaworأَعْرِضْaʿriḍturn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُعْرِضْtuʿ'riḍyou turn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themفَلَنْfalanthen neverيَضُرُّوكَyaḍurrūkawill they harm youشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifحَكَمْتَḥakamtayou judgeفَاحْكُمْfa-uḥ'kumthen judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiwith [the] justiceإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُقْسِطِينَl-muq'siṭīnathe ones who are just
43. 43وَكَيْفَwakayfaBut how canيُحَكِّمُونَكَyuḥakkimūnakathey appoint you a judgeوَعِنْدَهُمُwaʿindahumuwhile they (have) with themالتَّوْرَاةُl-tawrātuthe Tauratفِيهَاfīhāin itحُكْمُḥuk'mu(is the) Commandاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahثُمَّthummaThenيَتَوَلَّوْنَyatawallawnathey turn awayمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatوَمَاwamāand notأُولَئِكَulāikathoseبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīna(are) the believers
44. 44إِنَّاinnāIndeedأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe revealedالتَّوْرَاةَl-tawrātathe Tauratفِيهَاfīhāin itهُدًىhudan(was) Guidanceوَنُورٌwanūrunand lightيَحْكُمُyaḥkumujudgedبِهَاbihāby itالنَّبِيُّونَl-nabiyūnathe Prophetsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَسْلَمُواaslamūhad submitted (to Allah)لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoهَادُواhādūwere Jewsوَالرَّبَّانِيُّونَwal-rabāniyūnaand the Rabbisوَالْأَحْبَارُwal-aḥbāruand the scholarsبِمَاbimāwith whatاسْتُحْفِظُواus'tuḥ'fiẓūthey were entrustedمِنْminofكِتَابِkitābi(the) Bookاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereعَلَيْهِʿalayhito itشُهَدَاءَshuhadāawitnessesفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَخْشَوُاtakhshawūfearالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleوَاخْشَوْنِwa-ikh'shawnibut fear Meوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَشْتَرُواtashtarūsellبِءَايَاتِيbiāyātīMy Versesثَمَنًاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(does) notيَحْكُمْyaḥkumjudgeبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūna(are) the disbelievers
45. 45وَكَتَبْنَاwakatabnāAnd We ordainedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimfor themفِيهَاfīhāin itأَنَّannathatالنَّفْسَl-nafsathe lifeبِالنَّفْسِbil-nafsifor the lifeوَالْعَيْنَwal-ʿaynaand the eyeبِالْعَيْنِbil-ʿaynifor the eyeوَالْأَنْفَwal-anfaand the noseبِالْأَنْفِbil-anfifor the noseوَالْأُذُنَwal-udhunaand the earبِالْأُذُنِbil-udhunifor the earوَالسِّنَّwal-sinaand the toothبِالسِّنِّbil-sinifor the toothوَالْجُرُوحَwal-jurūḥaand (for) woundsقِصَاصٌqiṣāṣun(is) retributionفَمَنْfamanBut whoeverتَصَدَّقَtaṣaddaqagives charityبِهِbihiwith itفَهُوَfahuwathen it isكَفَّارَةٌkaffāratunan expiationلَهُlahufor himوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(does) notيَحْكُمْyaḥkumjudgeبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they]الظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
46. 46وَقَفَّيْنَاwaqaffaynāAnd We sentعَلَىʿalāonءَاثَارِهِمْāthārihimtheir footstepsبِعِيسَىbiʿīsāIsaابْنِib'nisonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamمُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqanconfirmingلِمَاlimāwhatبَيْنَbayna(was) betweenيَدَيْهِyadayhihis handsمِنَminaofالتَّوْرَاةِl-tawrātithe Tauratوَءَاتَيْنَاهُwaātaynāhuand We gave himالْإِنْجِيلَl-injīlathe Injeelفِيهِfīhiin itهُدًىhudan(was) Guidanceوَنُورٌwanūrunand lightوَمُصَدِّقًاwamuṣaddiqanand confirmingلِمَاlimāwhatبَيْنَbayna(was) betweenيَدَيْهِyadayhihis handsمِنَminaofالتَّوْرَاةِl-tawrātithe Tauratوَهُدًىwahudanand a Guidanceوَمَوْعِظَةًwamawʿiẓatanand an admonitionلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the God conscious
47. 47وَلْيَحْكُمْwalyaḥkumAnd let judgeأَهْلُahlu(the) Peopleالْإِنْجِيلِl-injīli(of) the Injeelبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفِيهِfīhiin itوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(does) notيَحْكُمْyaḥkumjudgeبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumu[they] (are)الْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūnathe defiantly disobedient
48. 48وَأَنْزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāAnd We revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin [the] truthمُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqanconfirmingلِمَاlimāwhatبَيْنَbayna(was) beforeيَدَيْهِyadayhihis handsمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookوَمُهَيْمِنًاwamuhayminanand a guardianعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover itفَاحْكُمْfa-uḥ'kumSo judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollowأَهْوَاءَهُمْahwāahumtheir vain desiresعَمَّاʿammāwhenجَاءَكَjāakahas come to youمِنَminaofالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthلِكُلٍّlikullinFor eachجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have madeمِنْكُمْminkumfor youشِرْعَةًshir'ʿatana lawوَمِنْهَاجًاwamin'hājanand a clear wayوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَجَعَلَكُمْlajaʿalakumHe (would have) made youأُمَّةًummatana communityوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatanoneوَلَكِنْwalākin[and] butلِيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumto test youفِيfīinمَاmāwhatءَاتَاكُمْātākumHe (has) given youفَاسْتَبِقُواfa-is'tabiqūso raceالْخَيْرَاتِl-khayrāti(to) the goodإِلَىilāToاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukumyou will returnجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallفَيُنَبِّئُكُمْfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform youبِمَاbimāof whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereفِيهِfīhiconcerning itتَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffering
49. 49وَأَنِwa-aniAnd thatاحْكُمْuḥ'kumyou judgeبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themبِمَاbimāby whatأَنْزَلَanzala(has) revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollowأَهْوَاءَهُمْahwāahumtheir vain desiresوَاحْذَرْهُمْwa-iḥ'dharhumand beware of themأَنْanlestيَفْتِنُوكَyaftinūkathey tempt you awayعَنْʿanfromبَعْضِbaʿḍisomeمَاmā(of) whatأَنْزَلَanzalahas revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِلَيْكَilaykato youفَإِنْfa-inAnd ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn awayفَاعْلَمْfa-iʿ'lamthen know thatأَنَّمَاannamāonlyيُرِيدُyurīduintendsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْantoيُصِيبَهُمْyuṣībahumafflict themبِبَعْضِbibaʿḍifor someذُنُوبِهِمْdhunūbihim(of) their sinsوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنَminaofالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleلَفَاسِقُونَlafāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient
50. 50أَفَحُكْمَafaḥuk'maIs it then the judgmentالْجَاهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyatiof [the] ignoranceيَبْغُونَyabghūnathey seekوَمَنْwamanAnd who (is)أَحْسَنُaḥsanubetterمِنَminathanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahحُكْمًاḥuk'man(in) judgmentلِقَوْمٍliqawminfor a peopleيُوقِنُونَyūqinūna(who) firmly believe
51. 51يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeالْيَهُودَl-yahūdathe Jewsوَالنَّصَارَىwal-naṣārāand the Christiansأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesبَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumSome of themأَوْلِيَاءُawliyāu(are) alliesبَعْضٍbaʿḍin(to) othersوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّهُمْyatawallahumtakes them as alliesمِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَإِنَّهُfa-innahuthen indeed, heمِنْهُمْmin'hum(is) of themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoing
52. 52فَتَرَىfatarāAnd you seeالَّذِينَalladhīnathoseفِيfīinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsمَرَضٌmaraḍun(is) a diseaseيُسَارِعُونَyusāriʿūnathey hastenفِيهِمْfīhimto themيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingنَخْشَىnakhshāWe fearأَنْanthatتُصِيبَنَاtuṣībanā(may) strike usدَائِرَةٌdāiratuna misfortuneفَعَسَىfaʿasāBut perhapsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْan[that]يَأْتِيَyatiyawill bringبِالْفَتْحِbil-fatḥithe victoryأَوْaworأَمْرٍamrina decisionمِنْminfromعِنْدِهِʿindihi(of) Himفَيُصْبِحُواfayuṣ'biḥūThen they will becomeعَلَىʿalāforمَاmāwhatأَسَرُّواasarrūthey had concealedفِيfīwithinأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesنَادِمِينَnādimīnaregretful
53. 53وَيَقُولُwayaqūluAnd will sayالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveأَهَؤُلَاءِahāulāiAre theseالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَقْسَمُواaqsamūsworeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahجَهْدَjahdastrongestأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihim(of) their oathsإِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed theyلَمَعَكُمْlamaʿakum(were) with youحَبِطَتْḥabiṭatBecame worthlessأَعْمَالُهُمْaʿmāluhumtheir deedsفَأَصْبَحُواfa-aṣbaḥūand they becameخَاسِرِينَkhāsirīna(the) losers
54. 54يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveمَنْmanWhoeverيَرْتَدَّyartaddaturns backمِنْكُمْminkumamong youعَنْʿanfromدِينِهِdīnihihis religionفَسَوْفَfasawfathen soonيَأْتِيyatī(will be) broughtاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahبِقَوْمٍbiqawmina peopleيُحِبُّهُمْyuḥibbuhumwhom He lovesوَيُحِبُّونَهُwayuḥibbūnahuand they love Himأَذِلَّةٍadhillatinhumbleعَلَىʿalātowardsالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersأَعِزَّةٍaʿizzatin(and) sternعَلَىʿalātowardsالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversيُجَاهِدُونَyujāhidūnastrivingفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلَاwalāand notيَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafearingلَوْمَةَlawmatathe blameلَائِمٍlāimin(of) a criticذَلِكَdhālikaThatفَضْلُfaḍlu(is the) Graceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe grantsمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahوَاسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
55. 55إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyوَلِيُّكُمُwaliyyukumuyour allyاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahوَرَسُولُهُwarasūluhuand His Messengerوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveالَّذِينَalladhīnaand those whoيُقِيمُونَyuqīmūnaestablishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَيُؤْتُونَwayu'tūnaand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatazakahوَهُمْwahumand theyرَاكِعُونَrākiʿūna(are) those who bow down
56. 56وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّyatawallatakes as an allyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedحِزْبَḥiz'ba(the) partyاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahهُمُhumutheyالْغَالِبُونَl-ghālibūna(are) the victorious
57. 57يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūtakeدِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religionهُزُوًاhuzuwan(in) ridiculeوَلَعِبًاwalaʿibanand funمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūare givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَالْكُفَّارَwal-kufāraand the disbelieversأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
58. 58وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenنَادَيْتُمْnādaytumyou make a callإِلَىilāforالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerاتَّخَذُوهَاittakhadhūhāthey take itهُزُوًاhuzuwan(in) ridiculeوَلَعِبًاwalaʿibanand funذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَوْمٌqawmun(are) a peopleلَاlā(who do) notيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnaunderstand
59. 59قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookهَلْhalDoتَنْقِمُونَtanqimūnayou resentمِنَّاminnā[of] usإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْنَاilaynāto usوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatأَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakummost of youفَاسِقُونَfāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient
60. 60قُلْqulSayهَلْhalShallأُنَبِّئُكُمْunabbi-ukumI inform youبِشَرٍّbisharrin(of) worseمِنْminthanذَلِكَdhālikathatمَثُوبَةًmathūbatan(as) recompenseعِنْدَʿindafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَنْmanWhomلَعَنَهُlaʿanahuhas (been) cursedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَغَضِبَwaghaḍibaand He became angryعَلَيْهِʿalayhiwith himوَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand madeمِنْهُمُmin'humuof themالْقِرَدَةَl-qiradata[the] apesوَالْخَنَازِيرَwal-khanāzīraand [the] swinesوَعَبَدَwaʿabadaand (who) worshippedالطَّاغُوتَl-ṭāghūtathe false deitiesأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseشَرٌّsharrun(are) worseمَكَانًاmakānan(in) positionوَأَضَلُّwa-aḍalluand farthest astrayعَنْʿanfromسَوَاءِsawāi(the) evenالسَّبِيلِl-sabīliway
61. 61وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenجَاءُوكُمْjāūkumthey come to youقَالُواqālūthey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeوَقَدْwaqadBut certainlyدَخَلُواdakhalūthey enteredبِالْكُفْرِbil-kuf'riwith disbeliefوَهُمْwahumand theyقَدْqadcertainlyخَرَجُواkharajūwent outبِهِbihiwith itوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِمَاbimā[of] whatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnahiding
62. 62وَتَرَىwatarāAnd you seeكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themيُسَارِعُونَyusāriʿūnahasteningفِيfīintoالْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sinوَالْعُدْوَانِwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgressionوَأَكْلِهِمُwa-aklihimuand eatingالسُّحْتَl-suḥ'tathe forbiddenلَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely evilمَاmā(is) whatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoing
63. 63لَوْلَاlawlāWhy (do) notيَنْهَاهُمُyanhāhumuforbid themالرَّبَّانِيُّونَl-rabāniyūnathe Rabbisوَالْأَحْبَارُwal-aḥbāruand the religious scholarsعَنْʿanfromقَوْلِهِمُqawlihimutheir sayingالْإِثْمَl-ith'mathe sinfulوَأَكْلِهِمُwa-aklihimuand their eatingالسُّحْتَl-suḥ'ta(of) the forbiddenلَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely evilمَاmā(is) whatكَانُواkānūthey used toيَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnado
64. 64وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd saidالْيَهُودُl-yahūduthe JewsيَدُyaduThe Handاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمَغْلُولَةٌmaghlūlatun(is) chainedغُلَّتْghullatAre chainedأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsوَلُعِنُواwaluʿinūand they have been cursedبِمَاbimāfor whatقَالُواqālūthey saidبَلْbalNayيَدَاهُyadāhuHis Handsمَبْسُوطَتَانِmabsūṭatāni(are) stretched outيُنْفِقُyunfiquHe spendsكَيْفَkayfahowيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَلَيَزِيدَنَّwalayazīdannaAnd surely increaseكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمَاmāwhatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordطُغْيَانًاṭugh'yānan(in) rebellionوَكُفْرًاwakuf'ranand disbeliefوَأَلْقَيْنَاwa-alqaynāAnd We have castبَيْنَهُمُbaynahumuamong themالْعَدَاوَةَl-ʿadāwata[the] enmityوَالْبَغْضَاءَwal-baghḍāaand [the] hatredإِلَىilātillيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the ResurrectionكُلَّمَاkullamāEvery timeأَوْقَدُواawqadūthey kindledنَارًاnāran(the) fireلِلْحَرْبِlil'ḥarbiof [the] warأَطْفَأَهَاaṭfa-ahāit (was) extinguishedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahوَيَسْعَوْنَwayasʿawnaAnd they striveفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَسَادًاfasādanspreading corruptionوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters
65. 65وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّannathatأَهْلَahla(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookءَامَنُواāmanū(had) believedوَاتَّقَوْاwa-ittaqawand feared (Allah)لَكَفَّرْنَاlakaffarnāsurely We (would have) removedعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themسَيِّئَاتِهِمْsayyiātihimtheir evil (deeds)وَلَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْwala-adkhalnāhumand surely We (would have) admitted themجَنَّاتِjannāti[to] Gardensالنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Bliss
66. 66وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyأَقَامُواaqāmūhad stood fastالتَّوْرَاةَl-tawrāta(by) the Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeelوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themمِنْminfromرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordلَأَكَلُواla-akalūsurely they (would have) eatenمِنْminfromفَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove themوَمِنْwaminand fromتَحْتِtaḥtibeneathأَرْجُلِهِمْarjulihimtheir feetمِنْهُمْmin'humAmong themأُمَّةٌummatun(is) a communityمُقْتَصِدَةٌmuq'taṣidatunmoderateوَكَثِيرٌwakathīrunbut manyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themسَاءَsāaevilمَاmā(is) whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
67. 67يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالرَّسُولُl-rasūluMessengerبَلِّغْballighConveyمَاmāwhatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordوَإِنْwa-inand ifلَمْlamnotتَفْعَلْtafʿalyou doفَمَاfamāthen notبَلَّغْتَballaghtayou (have) conveyedرِسَالَتَهُrisālatahuHis Messageوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْصِمُكَyaʿṣimukawill protect youمِنَminafromالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieving
68. 68قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookلَسْتُمْlastumYou are notعَلَىʿalāonشَيْءٍshayinanythingحَتَّىḥattāuntilتُقِيمُواtuqīmūyou stand fastالتَّوْرَاةَl-tawrāta(by) the Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeelوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour LordوَلَيَزِيدَنَّwalayazīdannaAnd surely increaseكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمَاmāwhatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youمِنْminfromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordطُغْيَانًاṭugh'yānan(in) rebellionوَكُفْرًاwakuf'ranand disbeliefفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَأْسَtasagrieveعَلَىʿalāoverالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieving
69. 69إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoهَادُواhādūbecame Jewsوَالصَّابِءُونَwal-ṣābiūnaand the Sabiansوَالنَّصَارَىwal-naṣārāand the Christiansمَنْmanwhoeverءَامَنَāmanabelievedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastوَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand didصَالِحًاṣāliḥangood deedsفَلَاfalāthen noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
70. 70لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyأَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe tookمِيثَاقَmīthāqaa Covenantبَنِيbanī(from the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelوَأَرْسَلْنَاwa-arsalnāand We sentإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themرُسُلًاrusulanMessengersكُلَّمَاkullamāWheneverجَاءَهُمْjāahumcame to themرَسُولٌrasūlunany Messengerبِمَاbimāwith whatلَاlānotتَهْوَىtahwādesiredأَنْفُسُهُمْanfusuhumtheir soulsفَرِيقًاfarīqana groupكَذَّبُواkadhabūthey deniedوَفَرِيقًاwafarīqanand a groupيَقْتُلُونَyaqtulūnathey kill
71. 71وَحَسِبُواwaḥasibūAnd they thoughtأَلَّاallāthat notتَكُونَtakūnawill be (for them)فِتْنَةٌfit'natuna trialفَعَمُواfaʿamūso they became blindوَصَمُّواwaṣammūand they became deafثُمَّthummaThenتَابَtābaturnedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themثُمَّthummathen (again)عَمُواʿamūthey became blindوَصَمُّواwaṣammūand they became deafكَثِيرٌkathīrunmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seerبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
72. 72لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahهُوَhuwaHeالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the Messiahابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) MaryamوَقَالَwaqālaWhile saidالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥuthe MessiahيَابَنِيyābanīO Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūWorshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَرَبَّكُمْwarabbakumand your LordإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed, heمَنْmanwhoيُشْرِكْyush'rikassociates partnersبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allahفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyحَرَّمَḥarrama(has) forbiddenاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِʿalayhifor himالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseوَمَأْوَاهُwamawāhuand his abodeالنَّارُl-nāru(will be) the FireوَمَاwamāAnd notلِلظَّالِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnafor the wrongdoersمِنْminofأَنْصَارٍanṣārin(any) helpers
73. 73لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahثَالِثُthālithu(is the) thirdثَلَاثَةٍthalāthatin(of) threeوَمَاwamāAnd (there is) noمِنْmin[of]إِلَهٍilāhingodإِلَّاillāexceptإِلَهٌilāhun(the) Godوَاحِدٌwāḥidun(the) Oneوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifلَمْlamnotيَنْتَهُواyantahūthey desistعَمَّاʿammāfrom whatيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey are sayingلَيَمَسَّنَّlayamassannasurely will afflictالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themعَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
74. 74أَفَلَاafalāSo will notيَتُوبُونَyatūbūnathey repentإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُwayastaghfirūnahuand seek His forgivenessوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
75. 75مَاmāNotالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the Messiahابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamإِلَّاillābutرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerقَدْqadcertainlyخَلَتْkhalathad passedمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِqablihibefore himالرُّسُلُl-rusuluthe Messengersوَأُمُّهُwa-ummuhuAnd his motherصِدِّيقَةٌṣiddīqatun(was) truthfulكَانَاkānāThey both used toيَأْكُلَانِyakulānieatالطَّعَامَl-ṭaʿāma[the] foodانْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowنُبَيِّنُnubayyinuWe make clearلَهُمُlahumuto themالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Signsثُمَّthummathenانْظُرْunẓurseeأَنَّىannāhowيُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūnathey are deluded
76. 76قُلْqulSayأَتَعْبُدُونَataʿbudūnaDo you worshipمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhatلَاlānotيَمْلِكُyamlikuhas powerلَكُمْlakumto (cause) youضَرًّاḍarranany harmوَلَاwalāand notنَفْعًاnafʿanany benefitوَاللَّهُwal-lahuwhile AllahهُوَhuwaHeالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(is) the All-Hearingالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knowing
77. 77قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookلَاlā(Do) notتَغْلُواtaghlūexceedفِيfīinدِينِكُمْdīnikumyour religionغَيْرَghayraother thanالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowأَهْوَاءَahwāa(vain) desiresقَوْمٍqawmin(of) a peopleقَدْqadcertainlyضَلُّواḍallūwho went astrayمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَأَضَلُّواwa-aḍallūand they misledكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyوَضَلُّواwaḍallūand they have strayedعَنْʿanfromسَوَاءِsawāi(the) rightالسَّبِيلِl-sabīli[the] way
78. 78لُعِنَluʿinaWere cursedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْminfromبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelعَلَىʿalābyلِسَانِlisāni(the) tongueدَاوُدَdāwūda(of) Dawoodوَعِيسَىwaʿīsāand Isaابْنِib'nisonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamذَلِكَdhālikathat (was)بِمَاbimābecauseعَصَوْاʿaṣawthey disobeyedوَكَانُواwakānūand they wereيَعْتَدُونَyaʿtadūnatransgressing
79. 79كَانُواkānūThey had beenلَاlānotيَتَنَاهَوْنَyatanāhawnaforbidding each otherعَنْʿanfromمُنْكَرٍmunkarinwrongdoingفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhuthey did [it]لَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely, evilمَاmā(was) whatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَفْعَلُونَyafʿalūnadoing
80. 80تَرَىtarāYou seeكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themيَتَوَلَّوْنَyatawallawnataking as alliesالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely evilمَاmā(is) whatقَدَّمَتْqaddamatsent forthلَهُمْlahumfor themأَنْفُسُهُمْanfusuhumtheir soulsأَنْanthatسَخِطَsakhiṭabecame angryاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimwith themوَفِيwafīand inالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentهُمْhumtheyخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
81. 81وَلَوْwalawAnd ifكَانُواkānūthey hadيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelievedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالنَّبِيِّwal-nabiyiand the Prophetوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَيْهِilayhito himمَاmānotاتَّخَذُوهُمْittakhadhūhumthey (would have) taken themأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesوَلَكِنَّwalākinna[and] butكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themفَاسِقُونَfāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient
82. 82لَتَجِدَنَّlatajidannaSurely you will findأَشَدَّashaddastrongestالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleعَدَاوَةًʿadāwatan(in) enmityلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveالْيَهُودَl-yahūdathe Jewsوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoأَشْرَكُواashrakū(are) polytheistsوَلَتَجِدَنَّwalatajidannaand surely you will findأَقْرَبَهُمْaqrabahumnearest of themمَوَدَّةًmawaddatan(in) affectionلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقَالُواqālūsayإِنَّاinnāWeنَصَارَىnaṣārā(are) ChristiansذَلِكَdhālikaThat (is)بِأَنَّbi-annabecauseمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themقِسِّيسِينَqissīsīna(are) priestsوَرُهْبَانًاwaruh'bānanand monksوَأَنَّهُمْwa-annahumand that theyلَاlā(are) notيَسْتَكْبِرُونَyastakbirūnaarrogant
83. 83وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenسَمِعُواsamiʿūthey listenمَاmā(to) whatأُنْزِلَunzilahas been revealedإِلَىilātoالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerتَرَىtarāyou seeأَعْيُنَهُمْaʿyunahumtheir eyesتَفِيضُtafīḍuoverflowingمِنَminawithالدَّمْعِl-damʿithe tearsمِمَّاmimmāfor whatعَرَفُواʿarafūthey recognizedمِنَminaofالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordءَامَنَّاāmannāwe have believedفَاكْتُبْنَاfa-uk'tub'nāso write usمَعَmaʿawithالشَّاهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
84. 84وَمَاwamāAnd whatلَنَاlanāfor us (that)لَاlānotنُؤْمِنُnu'minuwe believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَاwamāand whatجَاءَنَاjāanācame (to) usمِنَminafromالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthوَنَطْمَعُwanaṭmaʿuAnd we hopeأَنْanthatيُدْخِلَنَاyud'khilanāwill admit usرَبُّنَاrabbunāour Lordمَعَmaʿawithالْقَوْمِl-qawmithe peopleالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
85. 85فَأَثَابَهُمُfa-athābahumuSo rewarded themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِمَاbimāfor whatقَالُواqālūthey saidجَنَّاتٍjannātin(with) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَذَلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatجَزَاءُjazāu(is the) rewardالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīna(of) the good-doers
86. 86وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَكَذَّبُواwakadhabūand deniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsأُولَئِكَulāikathoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire
87. 87يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتُحَرِّمُواtuḥarrimūmake unlawfulطَيِّبَاتِṭayyibāti(the) good thingsمَاmā(of) whatأَحَلَّaḥallahas (been) made lawfulاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَعْتَدُواtaʿtadūtransgressإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْمُعْتَدِينَl-muʿ'tadīnathe transgressors
88. 88وَكُلُواwakulūAnd eatمِمَّاmimmāof whatرَزَقَكُمُrazaqakumuhas provided youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahحَلَالًاḥalālanlawfulطَيِّبًاṭayyibangoodوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahالَّذِيalladhīthe Oneأَنْتُمْantumyou (are)بِهِbihiin Himمُؤْمِنُونَmu'minūnabelievers
89. 89لَاlāNotيُؤَاخِذُكُمُyuākhidhukumuwill call you to accountاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِاللَّغْوِbil-laghwifor the thoughtless utterancesفِيfīinأَيْمَانِكُمْaymānikumyour oathsوَلَكِنْwalākinbutيُؤَاخِذُكُمْyuākhidhukumHe will call you to accountبِمَاbimāfor whatعَقَّدْتُمُʿaqqadttumuyou contractedالْأَيْمَانَl-aymāna(of) the oathفَكَفَّارَتُهُfakaffāratuhuSo its expiationإِطْعَامُiṭ'ʿāmu(is) feedingعَشَرَةِʿasharati(of) tenمَسَاكِينَmasākīnaneedy peopleمِنْminofأَوْسَطِawsaṭiaverageمَاmā(of) whatتُطْعِمُونَtuṭ'ʿimūnayou feedأَهْلِيكُمْahlīkumyour familiesأَوْaworكِسْوَتُهُمْkis'watuhumclothing themأَوْaworتَحْرِيرُtaḥrīrufreeingرَقَبَةٍraqabatina slaveفَمَنْfamanBut whoeverلَمْlam(does) notيَجِدْyajidfindفَصِيَامُfaṣiyāmu(that), then fastingثَلَاثَةِthalāthati(for) threeأَيَّامٍayyāmindaysذَلِكَdhālikaThatكَفَّارَةُkaffāratu(is the) expiationأَيْمَانِكُمْaymānikum(of) your oathsإِذَاidhāwhenحَلَفْتُمْḥalaftumyou have swornوَاحْفَظُواwa-iḥ'faẓūAnd guardأَيْمَانَكُمْaymānakumyour oathsكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُبَيِّنُyubayyinumakes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَكُمْlakumto youءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūna(be) grateful
90. 90يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!إِنَّمَاinnamāVerilyالْخَمْرُl-khamruthe intoxicantsوَالْمَيْسِرُwal-maysiruand [the] games of chanceوَالْأَنْصَابُwal-anṣābuand (sacrifices at) altarsوَالْأَزْلَامُwal-azlāmuand divining arrowsرِجْسٌrij'sun(are an) abominationمِنْminfromعَمَلِʿamali(the) workالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanفَاجْتَنِبُوهُfa-ij'tanibūhuso avoid itلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūna(be) successful
91. 91إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyيُرِيدُyurīduintendsالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَنْantoيُوقِعَyūqiʿacauseبَيْنَكُمُbaynakumubetween youالْعَدَاوَةَl-ʿadāwata[the] enmityوَالْبَغْضَاءَwal-baghḍāaand [the] hatredفِيfīthroughالْخَمْرِl-khamriintoxicantsوَالْمَيْسِرِwal-maysiriand gamblingوَيَصُدَّكُمْwayaṣuddakumand hinders youعَنْʿanfromذِكْرِdhik'ri(the) remembranceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَعَنِwaʿaniand fromالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerفَهَلْfahalSo willأَنْتُمْantumyouمُنْتَهُونَmuntahūna(be) the ones who abstain
92. 92وَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūAnd obeyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūand obeyالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerوَاحْذَرُواwa-iḥ'dharūand bewareفَإِنْfa-inAnd ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْtawallaytumyou turn awayفَاعْلَمُواfa-iʿ'lamūthen knowأَنَّمَاannamāonlyعَلَىʿalāuponرَسُولِنَاrasūlināOur Messengerالْبَلَاغُl-balāghu(is to) convey (the Message)الْمُبِينُl-mubīnuclearly
93. 93لَيْسَlaysaNotعَلَىʿalāonالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe good deedsجُنَاحٌjunāḥunany sinفِيمَاfīmāfor whatطَعِمُواṭaʿimūthey ateإِذَاidhāwhenمَاmāthatاتَّقَوْاittaqawthey fear (Allah)وَءَامَنُواwaāmanūand they believeوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand they doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] good deedsثُمَّthummathenاتَّقَوْاittaqawthey fear (Allah)وَءَامَنُواwaāmanūand believeثُمَّthummathenاتَّقَوْاittaqawthey fear (Allah)وَأَحْسَنُواwa-aḥsanūand do goodوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
94. 94يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَيَبْلُوَنَّكُمُlayabluwannakumuSurely will test youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِشَيْءٍbishayinthrough somethingمِنَminaofالصَّيْدِl-ṣaydithe gameتَنَالُهُtanāluhucan reach itأَيْدِيكُمْaydīkumyour handsوَرِمَاحُكُمْwarimāḥukumand your spearsلِيَعْلَمَliyaʿlamathat may make evidentاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَنْmanwhoيَخَافُهُyakhāfuhufears Himبِالْغَيْبِbil-ghaybiin the unseenفَمَنِfamaniAnd whoeverاعْتَدَىiʿ'tadātransgressedبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatفَلَهُfalahuthen for himعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
95. 95يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillالصَّيْدَl-ṣaydathe gameوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youحُرُمٌḥurumun(are in) IhramوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverقَتَلَهُqatalahukilled itمِنْكُمْminkumamong youمُتَعَمِّدًاmutaʿammidanintentionallyفَجَزَاءٌfajazāonthen penaltyمِثْلُmith'lu(is) similarمَاmā(to) whatقَتَلَqatalahe killedمِنَminaofالنَّعَمِl-naʿamithe cattleيَحْكُمُyaḥkumujudgingبِهِbihiitذَوَاdhawātwo menعَدْلٍʿadlinjustمِنْكُمْminkumamong youهَدْيًاhadyan(as) an offeringبَالِغَbālighareachingالْكَعْبَةِl-kaʿbatithe Kabahأَوْaworكَفَّارَةٌkaffāratunan expiationطَعَامُṭaʿāmufeedingمَسَاكِينَmasākīnaneedy peopleأَوْaworعَدْلُʿadluequivalentذَلِكَdhālika(of) thatصِيَامًاṣiyāman(in) fastingلِيَذُوقَliyadhūqathat he may tasteوَبَالَwabāla(the) consequenceأَمْرِهِamrihi(of) his deedعَفَاʿafāPardonedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahعَمَّاʿammāwhatسَلَفَsalafa(has) passedوَمَنْwamanbut whoeverعَادَʿādareturnedفَيَنْتَقِمُfayantaqimuthen will take retributionاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْهُmin'hufrom himوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-MightyذُوdhūOwnerانْتِقَامٍintiqāmin(of) Retribution
96. 96أُحِلَّuḥillaIs made lawfulلَكُمْlakumfor youصَيْدُṣaydugameالْبَحْرِl-baḥri(of) the seaوَطَعَامُهُwaṭaʿāmuhuand its foodمَتَاعًاmatāʿan(as) provisionلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلِلسَّيَّارَةِwalilssayyāratiand for the travelersوَحُرِّمَwaḥurrimaand is made unlawfulعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youصَيْدُṣaydugameالْبَرِّl-bari(of) the landمَاmāasدُمْتُمْdum'tumlong as youحُرُمًاḥuruman(are) in Ihramوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd be consciousاللَّهَl-laha(of) Allahالَّذِيalladhīthe Oneإِلَيْهِilayhito Himتُحْشَرُونَtuḥ'sharūnayou will be gathered
97. 97جَعَلَjaʿalaHas (been) madeاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahالْكَعْبَةَl-kaʿbatathe Kabahالْبَيْتَl-baytathe Houseالْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmathe Sacredقِيَامًاqiyāmanan establishmentلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankindوَالشَّهْرَwal-shahraand the month(s)الْحَرَامَl-ḥarāma[the] sacredوَالْهَدْيَwal-hadyaand the (animals) for offeringوَالْقَلَائِدَwal-qalāidaand the garlandsذَلِكَdhālikaThat (is)لِتَعْلَمُواlitaʿlamūso that you may knowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whatفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
98. 98اعْلَمُواiʿ'lamūKnowأَنَّannathatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) punishmentوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
99. 99مَاmāNotعَلَىʿalāonالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerإِلَّاillāexceptالْبَلَاغُl-balāghuthe conveyanceوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsمَاmāwhatتُبْدُونَtub'dūnayou revealوَمَاwamāand whatتَكْتُمُونَtaktumūnayou conceal
100. 100قُلْqulSayلَاlāNotيَسْتَوِيyastawī(are) equalالْخَبِيثُl-khabīthuthe evilوَالطَّيِّبُwal-ṭayibuand the goodوَلَوْwalaweven ifأَعْجَبَكَaʿjabakaimpresses youكَثْرَةُkathratuabundanceالْخَبِيثِl-khabīthi(of) the evilفَاتَّقُواfa-ittaqūSo fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَاأُولِيyāulīO menالْأَلْبَابِl-albābi(of) understandingلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnabe successful
101. 101يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveلَاlā(Do) notتَسْءَلُواtasalūaskعَنْʿanaboutأَشْيَاءَashyāathingsإِنْinifتُبْدَtub'damade clearلَكُمْlakumto youتَسُؤْكُمْtasu'kumit may distress youوَإِنْwa-inand ifتَسْءَلُواtasalūyou askعَنْهَاʿanhāabout itحِينَḥīnawhenيُنَزَّلُyunazzaluis being revealedالْقُرْءَانُl-qur'ānuthe Quranتُبْدَtub'dait would be made clearلَكُمْlakumto youعَفَاʿafāhas (been) pardonedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahعَنْهَاʿanhā[about] itوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingحَلِيمٌḥalīmunAll-Forbearing
102. 102قَدْqadIndeedسَأَلَهَاsa-alahāasked themقَوْمٌqawmuna peopleمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youثُمَّthummathenأَصْبَحُواaṣbaḥūthey becameبِهَاbihātherebyكَافِرِينَkāfirīnadisbelievers
103. 103مَاmāNotجَعَلَjaʿalahas (been) madeاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahمِنْminofبَحِيرَةٍbaḥīratina Bahirahوَلَاwalāand notسَائِبَةٍsāibatina Saibahوَلَاwalāand notوَصِيلَةٍwaṣīlatina Wasilahوَلَاwalāand notحَامٍḥāmina Hamiوَلَكِنَّwalākinna[And] butالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey inventعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieوَأَكْثَرُهُمْwa-aktharuhumand most of themلَاlā(do) notيَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnause reason
104. 104وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقِيلَqīlait is saidلَهُمْlahumto themتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeإِلَىilātoمَاmāwhatأَنْزَلَanzalahas (been) revealedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَإِلَىwa-ilāand toالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerقَالُواqālūthey saidحَسْبُنَاḥasbunāSufficient for usمَاmā(is) whatوَجَدْنَاwajadnāwe foundعَلَيْهِʿalayhiupon itءَابَاءَنَاābāanāour forefathersأَوَلَوْawalawEven thoughكَانَkāna(that)ءَابَاؤُهُمْābāuhumtheir forefathersلَاlānotيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknowingشَيْئًاshayananythingوَلَاwalāand notيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnathey (were) guided
105. 105يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumUpon youأَنْفُسَكُمْanfusakum(is to guard) yourselvesلَاlāNotيَضُرُّكُمْyaḍurrukumwill harm youمَنْman(those) whoضَلَّḍalla(have gone) astrayإِذَاidhāwhenاهْتَدَيْتُمْih'tadaytumyou have been guidedإِلَىilāToاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your returnجَمِيعًاjamīʿanallفَيُنَبِّئُكُمْfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform youبِمَاbimāof whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnado
106. 106يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveشَهَادَةُshahādatu(Take) testimonyبَيْنِكُمْbaynikumamong youإِذَاidhāwhenحَضَرَḥaḍaraapproachesأَحَدَكُمُaḥadakumuone of youالْمَوْتُl-mawtu[the] deathحِينَḥīna(at the) time (of making)الْوَصِيَّةِl-waṣiyati[the] a willاثْنَانِith'nānitwoذَوَاdhawāmenعَدْلٍʿadlinjustمِنْكُمْminkumamong youأَوْaworءَاخَرَانِākharānitwo othersمِنْminfromغَيْرِكُمْghayrikumother than youإِنْinifأَنْتُمْantumyouضَرَبْتُمْḍarabtum(are) travel(ing)فِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَأَصَابَتْكُمْfa-aṣābatkumthen befalls youمُصِيبَةُmuṣībatucalamityالْمَوْتِl-mawti(of) [the] deathتَحْبِسُونَهُمَاtaḥbisūnahumāDetain both of themمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerفَيُقْسِمَانِfayuq'simāniand let them both swearبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby Allahإِنِiniifارْتَبْتُمْir'tabtumyou doubtلَاlāNotنَشْتَرِيnashtarīwe will exchangeبِهِbihiit forثَمَنًاthamanana priceوَلَوْwalaweven ifكَانَkānahe isذَاdhā(of)قُرْبَىqur'bāa near relativeوَلَاwalāand notنَكْتُمُnaktumuwe will concealشَهَادَةَshahādatatestimonyاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weإِذًاidhanthenلَمِنَlamina(will) surely (be) ofالْءَاثِمِينَl-āthimīnathe sinners
107. 107فَإِنْfa-inThen ifعُثِرَʿuthirait is discoveredعَلَىʿalā(on)أَنَّهُمَاannahumāthat the twoاسْتَحَقَّاis'taḥaqqā(were) guiltyإِثْمًاith'man(of) sinفَءَاخَرَانِfaākharānithen (let) two othersيَقُومَانِyaqūmānistandمَقَامَهُمَاmaqāmahumā(in) their placeمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاسْتَحَقَّis'taḥaqqahave a lawful rightعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuover themالْأَوْلَيَانِl-awlayānithe former twoفَيُقْسِمَانِfayuq'simāniand let them both swearبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby AllahلَشَهَادَتُنَاlashahādatunāSurely our testimonyأَحَقُّaḥaqqu(is) truerمِنْminthanشَهَادَتِهِمَاshahādatihimātestimony of the other twoوَمَاwamāand notاعْتَدَيْنَاiʿ'tadaynāwe have transgressedإِنَّاinnāIndeed, weإِذًاidhanthenلَمِنَlamina(will be) ofالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
108. 108ذَلِكَdhālikaThatأَدْنَىadnā(is) closerأَنْanthatيَأْتُواyatūthey will giveبِالشَّهَادَةِbil-shahādatithe testimonyعَلَىʿalāinوَجْهِهَاwajhihāits (true) formأَوْaworيَخَافُواyakhāfūthey would fearأَنْanthatتُرَدَّturaddawill be refutedأَيْمَانٌaymānuntheir oathsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterأَيْمَانِهِمْaymānihimtheir (others) oathsوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَاسْمَعُواwa-is'maʿūand listenوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahلَاlā(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالْفَاسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient
109. 109يَوْمَyawma(The) dayيَجْمَعُyajmaʿuwill (be) gatheredاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahالرُّسُلَl-rusulathe Messengersفَيَقُولُfayaqūluand He will sayمَاذَاmādhāWhatأُجِبْتُمْujib'tumwas (the) response you receivedقَالُواqālūThey saidلَاlā(There is) noعِلْمَʿil'maknowledgeلَنَاlanāfor usإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouأَنْتَantaYouعَلَّامُʿallāmu(are the) Knowerالْغُيُوبِl-ghuyūbi(of) the unseen
110. 110إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَاعِيسَىyāʿīsāO Isaابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamاذْكُرْudh'kurRememberنِعْمَتِيniʿ'matīMy Favorعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youوَعَلَىwaʿalāand uponوَالِدَتِكَwālidatikayour motherإِذْidhwhenأَيَّدْتُكَayyadttukaI strengthened youبِرُوحِbirūḥiwith (the) Spiritالْقُدُسِl-qudusithe Holyتُكَلِّمُtukallimuyou spokeالنَّاسَl-nāsa(to) the peopleفِيfīinالْمَهْدِl-mahdithe cradleوَكَهْلًاwakahlanand (in) maturityوَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenعَلَّمْتُكَʿallamtukaI taught youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand the wisdomوَالتَّوْرَاةَwal-tawrātaand the Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeelوَإِذْwa-idhand whenتَخْلُقُtakhluquyou makeمِنَminafromالطِّينِl-ṭīnithe clayكَهَيْئَةِkahayatilike the shapeالطَّيْرِl-ṭayri(of) the birdبِإِذْنِيbi-idh'nīby My permissionفَتَنْفُخُfatanfukhuthen you breathفِيهَاfīhāinto itفَتَكُونُfatakūnuand it becomesطَيْرًاṭayrana birdبِإِذْنِيbi-idh'nīby My permissionوَتُبْرِئُwatub'ri-uand you healالْأَكْمَهَl-akmahathe born blindوَالْأَبْرَصَwal-abraṣaand the leperبِإِذْنِيbi-idh'nīby My permissionوَإِذْwa-idhand whenتُخْرِجُtukh'rijuyou bring forthالْمَوْتَىl-mawtāthe deadبِإِذْنِيbi-idh'nīby My permissionوَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenكَفَفْتُkafaftuI restrainedبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelعَنْكَʿankafrom youإِذْidhwhenجِئْتَهُمْji'tahumyou came to themبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith the clear proofsفَقَالَfaqālathen saidالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themإِنْinNotهَذَاhādhā(is) thisإِلَّاillābutسِحْرٌsiḥ'runmagicمُبِينٌmubīnunclear
111. 111وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَوْحَيْتُawḥaytuI inspiredإِلَىilātoالْحَوَارِيِّينَl-ḥawāriyīnathe disciplesأَنْantoءَامِنُواāminūbelieveبِيbīin Meوَبِرَسُولِيwabirasūlīand in My Messengerقَالُواqālūthey saidءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeوَاشْهَدْwa-ish'hadand bear witnessبِأَنَّنَاbi-annanāthat indeed weمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) Muslims
112. 112إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidالْحَوَارِيُّونَl-ḥawāriyūnathe disciplesيَاعِيسَىyāʿīsāO Isaابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) MaryamهَلْhalIsيَسْتَطِيعُyastaṭīʿuableرَبُّكَrabbukayour Lordأَنْantoيُنَزِّلَyunazzilasend downعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usمَائِدَةًmāidatana table spreadمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenقَالَqālaHe saidاتَّقُواittaqūFearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
113. 113قَالُواqālūThey saidنُرِيدُnurīduWe wishأَنْanthatنَأْكُلَnakulawe eatمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itوَتَطْمَئِنَّwataṭma-innaand satisfyقُلُوبُنَاqulūbunāour heartsوَنَعْلَمَwanaʿlamaand we knowأَنْanthatقَدْqadcertainlyصَدَقْتَنَاṣadaqtanāyou have spoken the truth to usوَنَكُونَwanakūnaand we beعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāover itمِنَminaamongالشَّاهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
114. 114قَالَqālaSaidعِيسَىʿīsāIsaابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamاللَّهُمَّl-lahumaO Allahرَبَّنَاrabbanāour Lordأَنْزِلْanzilsend downعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāto usمَائِدَةًmāidatana table spreadمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenتَكُونُtakūnuto beلَنَاlanāfor usعِيدًاʿīdana festivalلِأَوَّلِنَاli-awwalināfor first of usوَءَاخِرِنَاwaākhirināand last of usوَءَايَةًwaāyatanand a signمِنْكَminkafrom Youوَارْزُقْنَاwa-ur'zuq'nāAnd provide usوَأَنْتَwa-antaand Youخَيْرُkhayru(are) bestالرَّازِقِينَl-rāziqīna(of) the providers
115. 115قَالَqālaSaidاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iمُنَزِّلُهَاmunazziluhā(will) send it downعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youفَمَنْfamanthen whoeverيَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelievesبَعْدُbaʿduafter (that)مِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَإِنِّيfa-innīthen indeed Iأُعَذِّبُهُuʿadhibuhu[I] will punish himعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentلَاlānotأُعَذِّبُهُuʿadhibuhuI have punishedأَحَدًاaḥadananyoneمِنَminaamongالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
116. 116وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَqālasaidاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَاعِيسَىyāʿīsāO Isaابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamءَأَنْتَa-antaDid youقُلْتَqul'tasayلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the peopleاتَّخِذُونِيittakhidhūnīTake meوَأُمِّيَwa-ummiyaand my motherإِلَهَيْنِilāhayni(as) two godsمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَالَqālaHe saidسُبْحَانَكَsub'ḥānakaGlory be to YouمَاmāNotيَكُونُyakūnuwasلِيlīfor meأَنْanthatأَقُولَaqūlaI sayمَاmāwhatلَيْسَlaysanotلِيlīIبِحَقٍّbiḥaqqin(had) rightإِنْinIfكُنْتُkuntuI hadقُلْتُهُqul'tuhusaid itفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyعَلِمْتَهُʿalim'tahuYou would have known itتَعْلَمُtaʿlamuYou knowمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inنَفْسِيnafsīmyselfوَلَاwalāand notأَعْلَمُaʿlamuI knowمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inنَفْسِكَnafsikaYourselfإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, YouأَنْتَantaYouعَلَّامُʿallāmu(are) All-Knowerالْغُيُوبِl-ghuyūbi(of) the unseen
117. 117مَاmāNotقُلْتُqul'tuI saidلَهُمْlahumto themإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatأَمَرْتَنِيamartanīYou commanded meبِهِbihi[with it]أَنِanithatاعْبُدُواuʿ'budūYou worshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبِّيrabbīmy Lordوَرَبَّكُمْwarabbakumand your LordوَكُنْتُwakuntuAnd I wasعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themشَهِيدًاshahīdana witnessمَاmāthatدُمْتُdum'tuas long as Iفِيهِمْfīhim(was) among themفَلَمَّاfalammāthen whenتَوَفَّيْتَنِيtawaffaytanīYou raised meكُنْتَkuntaYou wereأَنْتَanta[You]الرَّقِيبَl-raqībathe Watcherعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themوَأَنْتَwa-antaand Youعَلَىʿalā(are) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingشَهِيدٌshahīduna Witness
118. 118إِنْinIfتُعَذِّبْهُمْtuʿadhib'humYou punish themفَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumthen indeed theyعِبَادُكَʿibāduka(are) Your slavesوَإِنْwa-inand ifتَغْفِرْtaghfirYou forgiveلَهُمْlahum[for] themفَإِنَّكَfa-innakathen indeed YouأَنْتَantaYouالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(are) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
119. 119قَالَqālaWill sayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahهَذَاhādhāThisيَوْمُyawmuDayيَنْفَعُyanfaʿuwill profitالصَّادِقِينَl-ṣādiqīnathe truthfulصِدْقُهُمْṣid'quhumtheir truthfulnessلَهُمْlahumFor themجَنَّاتٌjannātun(are) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abideفِيهَاfīhāin itأَبَدًاabadanforeverرَضِيَraḍiyais pleasedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَنْهُمْʿanhumwith themوَرَضُواwaraḍūand they are pleasedعَنْهُʿanhuwith HimذَلِكَdhālikaThatالْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the successالْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmu(the) great
120. 120لِلَّهِlillahiTo Allah (belongs)مُلْكُmul'kuthe dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَمَاwamāand whatفِيهِنَّfīhinna(is) in themوَهُوَwahuwaAnd Heعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
