Surah 4 — An-Nisaa

1. 1يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّاسُl-nāsumankindاتَّقُواittaqūFearرَبَّكُمُrabbakumuyour Lordالَّذِيalladhīthe One Whoخَلَقَكُمْkhalaqakumcreated youمِنْminfromنَفْسٍnafsina soulوَاحِدَةٍwāḥidatinsingleوَخَلَقَwakhalaqaand createdمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itزَوْجَهَاzawjahāits mateوَبَثَّwabathaand dispersedمِنْهُمَاmin'humāfrom both of themرِجَالًاrijālanmenكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyوَنِسَاءًwanisāanand womenوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahالَّذِيalladhī(through) Whomتَسَاءَلُونَtasāalūnayou askبِهِbihi[with it]وَالْأَرْحَامَwal-arḥāmaand the wombsإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youرَقِيبًاraqībanEver-Watchful
2. 2وَءَاتُواwaātūAnd giveالْيَتَامَىl-yatāmā(to) the orphansأَمْوَالَهُمْamwālahumtheir wealthوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَتَبَدَّلُواtatabaddalūexchangeالْخَبِيثَl-khabīthathe badبِالطَّيِّبِbil-ṭayibiwith the goodوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَأْكُلُواtakulūconsumeأَمْوَالَهُمْamwālahumtheir wealthإِلَىilāwithأَمْوَالِكُمْamwālikumyour wealthإِنَّهُinnahuIndeed itكَانَkānaisحُوبًاḥūbana sinكَبِيرًاkabīrangreat
3. 3وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifخِفْتُمْkhif'tumyou fearأَلَّاallāthat notتُقْسِطُواtuq'siṭūyou will be able to do justiceفِيfīwithالْيَتَامَىl-yatāmāthe orphansفَانْكِحُواfa-inkiḥūthen marryمَاmāwhatطَابَṭābaseems suitableلَكُمْlakumto youمِنَminafromالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenمَثْنَىmathnātwoوَثُلَاثَwathulāthaor threeوَرُبَاعَwarubāʿaor fourفَإِنْfa-inBut ifخِفْتُمْkhif'tumyou fearأَلَّاallāthat notتَعْدِلُواtaʿdilūyou can do justiceفَوَاحِدَةًfawāḥidatanthen (marry) oneأَوْaworمَاmāwhatمَلَكَتْmalakatpossessesأَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handذَلِكَdhālikaThatأَدْنَىadnā(is) more appropriateأَلَّاallāthat (may) notتَعُولُواtaʿūlūyou oppress
4. 4وَءَاتُواwaātūAnd giveالنِّسَاءَl-nisāathe womenصَدُقَاتِهِنَّṣaduqātihinnatheir dowerنِحْلَةًniḥ'latangraciouslyفَإِنْfa-inBut ifطِبْنَṭib'nathey remitلَكُمْlakumto youعَنْʿanofشَيْءٍshayinanythingمِنْهُmin'huof itنَفْسًاnafsan(on their) ownفَكُلُوهُfakulūhuthen eat itهَنِيئًاhanīan(in) satisfactionمَرِيئًاmarīan(and) ease
5. 5وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُؤْتُواtu'tūgiveالسُّفَهَاءَl-sufahāathe foolishأَمْوَالَكُمُamwālakumuyour wealthالَّتِيallatīwhichجَعَلَjaʿala(was) madeاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahلَكُمْlakumfor youقِيَامًاqiyāmana means of supportوَارْزُقُوهُمْwa-ur'zuqūhum(but) provide (for) themفِيهَاfīhāwith itوَاكْسُوهُمْwa-ik'sūhumand clothe themوَقُولُواwaqūlūand speakلَهُمْlahumto themقَوْلًاqawlanwordsمَعْرُوفًاmaʿrūfan(of) kindness
6. 6وَابْتَلُواwa-ib'talūAnd testالْيَتَامَىl-yatāmāthe orphansحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhā[when]بَلَغُواbalaghūthey reach[ed]النِّكَاحَl-nikāḥa(the age of) marriageفَإِنْfa-inthen ifءَانَسْتُمْānastumyou perceiveمِنْهُمْmin'humin themرُشْدًاrush'dansound judgementفَادْفَعُواfa-id'faʿūthen deliverإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themأَمْوَالَهُمْamwālahumtheir wealthوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَأْكُلُوهَاtakulūhāeat itإِسْرَافًاis'rāfanextravagantlyوَبِدَارًاwabidāranand hastilyأَنْan(fearing) thatيَكْبَرُواyakbarūthey will grow upوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverكَانَkānaisغَنِيًّاghaniyyanrichفَلْيَسْتَعْفِفْfalyastaʿfifthen he should refrainوَمَنْwamanand whoeverكَانَkānaisفَقِيرًاfaqīranpoorفَلْيَأْكُلْfalyakulthen let him eat (of it)بِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenدَفَعْتُمْdafaʿtumyou deliverإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themأَمْوَالَهُمْamwālahumtheir wealthفَأَشْهِدُواfa-ashhidūthen take witnessesعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themوَكَفَىwakafāAnd is sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahحَسِيبًاḥasīban(as) a Reckoner
7. 7لِلرِّجَالِlilrrijāliFor the menنَصِيبٌnaṣībuna portionمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtaraka(is) leftالْوَالِدَانِl-wālidāni(by) the parentsوَالْأَقْرَبُونَwal-aqrabūnaand the near relativesوَلِلنِّسَاءِwalilnnisāiand for the womenنَصِيبٌnaṣībuna portionمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtaraka(is) leftالْوَالِدَانِl-wālidāni(by) parentsوَالْأَقْرَبُونَwal-aqrabūnaand the near relativesمِمَّاmimmāof whatقَلَّqalla(is) littleمِنْهُmin'huof itأَوْaworكَثُرَkathuramuchنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمَفْرُوضًاmafrūḍanobligatory
8. 8وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenحَضَرَḥaḍarapresentالْقِسْمَةَl-qis'mata(at) the (time of) divisionأُولُواulū(of)الْقُرْبَىl-qur'bāthe relativesوَالْيَتَامَىwal-yatāmāand the orphansوَالْمَسَاكِينُwal-masākīnuand the poorفَارْزُقُوهُمْfa-ur'zuqūhumthen provide themمِنْهُmin'hufrom itوَقُولُواwaqūlūand speakلَهُمْlahumto themقَوْلًاqawlanwordsمَعْرُوفًاmaʿrūfan(of) kindness
9. 9وَلْيَخْشَwalyakhshaAnd let fearالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoلَوْlawifتَرَكُواtarakūthey leftمِنْminfromخَلْفِهِمْkhalfihimbehindذُرِّيَّةًdhurriyyatanoffspringضِعَافًاḍiʿāfanweakخَافُواkhāfū(and) they would have fearedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimabout themفَلْيَتَّقُواfalyattaqūSo let them fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلْيَقُولُواwalyaqūlūand let them speakقَوْلًاqawlanwordsسَدِيدًاsadīdanappropriate
10. 10إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَأْكُلُونَyakulūnaconsumeأَمْوَالَamwālawealthالْيَتَامَىl-yatāmā(of) the orphansظُلْمًاẓul'manwrongfullyإِنَّمَاinnamāonlyيَأْكُلُونَyakulūnathey consumeفِيfīinبُطُونِهِمْbuṭūnihimtheir belliesنَارًاnāranfireوَسَيَصْلَوْنَwasayaṣlawnaand they will be burnedسَعِيرًاsaʿīran(in) a Blazing Fire
11. 11يُوصِيكُمُyūṣīkumuInstructs youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفِيfīconcerningأَوْلَادِكُمْawlādikumyour childrenلِلذَّكَرِlildhakarifor the maleمِثْلُmith'lulikeحَظِّḥaẓẓi(the) portionالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayayni(of) two femalesفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكُنَّkunnathere areنِسَاءًnisāan(only) womenفَوْقَfawqamore (than)اثْنَتَيْنِith'nataynitwoفَلَهُنَّfalahunnathen for themثُلُثَاthuluthātwo thirdsمَاmā(of) whatتَرَكَtarakahe leftوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكَانَتْkānat(there) isوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatan(only) oneفَلَهَاfalahāthen for herالنِّصْفُl-niṣ'fu(is) halfوَلِأَبَوَيْهِwali-abawayhiAnd for his parentsلِكُلِّlikullifor eachوَاحِدٍwāḥidinoneمِنْهُمَاmin'humāof themالسُّدُسُl-sudusua sixthمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtaraka(is) leftإِنْinifكَانَkānaisلَهُlahufor himوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَإِنْfa-inBut ifلَمْlamnotيَكُنْyakunisلَهُlahufor himوَلَدٌwaladunany childوَوَرِثَهُwawarithahuand inherit[ed] himأَبَوَاهُabawāhuhis parentsفَلِأُمِّهِfali-ummihithen for his motherالثُّلُثُl-thuluthu(is) one thirdفَإِنْfa-inAnd ifكَانَkānaareلَهُlahufor himإِخْوَةٌikh'watunbrothers and sistersفَلِأُمِّهِfali-ummihithen for his motherالسُّدُسُl-sudusu(is) the sixthمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterوَصِيَّةٍwaṣiyyatinany willيُوصِيyūṣīhe has madeبِهَاbihā[of which]أَوْaworدَيْنٍdayninany debtءَابَاؤُكُمْābāukumYour parentsوَأَبْنَاؤُكُمْwa-abnāukumand your childrenلَاlānotتَدْرُونَtadrūnayou knowأَيُّهُمْayyuhumwhich of themأَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearerلَكُمْlakumto youنَفْعًاnafʿan(in) benefitفَرِيضَةًfarīḍatanAn obligationمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
12. 12وَلَكُمْwalakumAnd for youنِصْفُniṣ'fu(is) halfمَاmā(of) whatتَرَكَtaraka(is) leftأَزْوَاجُكُمْazwājukumby your wivesإِنْinifلَمْlamnotيَكُنْyakunisلَهُنَّlahunnafor themوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَانَkānaisلَهُنَّlahunnafor themوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَلَكُمُfalakumuthen for youالرُّبُعُl-rubuʿu(is) the fourthمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكْنَtaraknathey leftمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterوَصِيَّةٍwaṣiyyatinany willيُوصِينَyūṣīnathey have madeبِهَاbihā[for which]أَوْaworدَيْنٍdayninany debtوَلَهُنَّwalahunnaAnd for themالرُّبُعُl-rubuʿu(is) the fourthمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكْتُمْtaraktumyou leftإِنْinifلَمْlamnotيَكُنْyakunisلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَانَkānaisلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَلَهُنَّfalahunnathen for themالثُّمُنُl-thumunu(is) the eighthمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكْتُمْtaraktumyou leftمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterوَصِيَّةٍwaṣiyyatinany willتُوصُونَtūṣūnayou have madeبِهَاbihā[for which]أَوْaworدَيْنٍdayninany debtوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكَانَkāna[is]رَجُلٌrajuluna manيُورَثُyūrathu(whose wealth) is to be inheritedكَلَالَةًkalālatan(has) no parent or childأَوِawiorامْرَأَةٌim'ra-atuna womenوَلَهُwalahuand for himأَخٌakhun(is) a brotherأَوْaworأُخْتٌukh'tuna sisterفَلِكُلِّfalikullithen for eachوَاحِدٍwāḥidinoneمِنْهُمَاmin'humāof (the) twoالسُّدُسُl-sudusu(is) the sixthفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَانُواkānūthey areأَكْثَرَaktharamoreمِنْminthanذَلِكَdhālikathatفَهُمْfahumthen theyشُرَكَاءُshurakāu(are) partnersفِيfīinالثُّلُثِl-thuluthithe thirdمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterوَصِيَّةٍwaṣiyyatinany willيُوصَىyūṣāwas madeبِهَاbihā[for which]أَوْaworدَيْنٍdayninany debtغَيْرَghayrawithoutمُضَارٍّmuḍārrin(being) harmfulوَصِيَّةًwaṣiyyatanAn ordinanceمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowingحَلِيمٌḥalīmunAll-Forbearing
13. 13تِلْكَtil'kaTheseحُدُودُḥudūdu(are the) limitsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerيُدْخِلْهُyud'khil'huHe will admit himجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīna(will) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَذَلِكَwadhālikaAnd thatالْفَوْزُl-fawzu(is) the successالْعَظِيمُl-ʿaẓīmu[the] great
14. 14وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَعْصِyaʿṣidisobeysاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَرَسُولَهُwarasūlahuand His Messengerوَيَتَعَدَّwayataʿaddaand transgressesحُدُودَهُḥudūdahuHis limitsيُدْخِلْهُyud'khil'huHe will admit himنَارًاnāran(to) Fireخَالِدًاkhālidan(will) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَلَهُwalahuAnd for himعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentمُهِينٌmuhīnunhumiliating
15. 15وَاللَّاتِيwa-allātīAnd those whoيَأْتِينَyatīnacommitالْفَاحِشَةَl-fāḥishata[the] immoralityمِنْminfromنِسَائِكُمْnisāikumyour womenفَاسْتَشْهِدُواfa-is'tashhidūthen call to witnessعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaagainst themأَرْبَعَةًarbaʿatanfourمِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَإِنْfa-inAnd ifشَهِدُواshahidūthey testifyفَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّfa-amsikūhunnathen confine themفِيfīinالْبُيُوتِl-buyūtitheir housesحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَتَوَفَّاهُنَّyatawaffāhunnacomes to themالْمَوْتُl-mawtu[the] deathأَوْaworيَجْعَلَyajʿalamakesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَهُنَّlahunnafor themسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
16. 16وَاللَّذَانِwa-alladhāniAnd the two whoيَأْتِيَانِهَاyatiyānihācommit itمِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَءَاذُوهُمَاfaādhūhumāthen punish both of themفَإِنْfa-inBut ifتَابَاtābāthey repentوَأَصْلَحَاwa-aṣlaḥāand correct themselvesفَأَعْرِضُواfa-aʿriḍūthen turn awayعَنْهُمَاʿanhumāfrom both of themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisتَوَّابًاtawwābanOft-forgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost-Merciful
17. 17إِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyالتَّوْبَةُl-tawbatuthe acceptance of repentanceعَلَىʿalābyاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلِلَّذِينَlilladhīna(is) for those whoيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoالسُّوءَl-sūathe evilبِجَهَالَةٍbijahālatinin ignoranceثُمَّthummathenيَتُوبُونَyatūbūnathey repentمِنْminfromقَرِيبٍqarībinsoon afterفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikaThen thoseيَتُوبُyatūbuwill have forgivenessاللَّهُl-lahu(from) Allahعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
18. 18وَلَيْسَتِwalaysatiAnd notالتَّوْبَةُl-tawbatu(is) the acceptance of repentanceلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoالسَّيِّئَاتِl-sayiātithe evil deedsحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenحَضَرَḥaḍaraapproachesأَحَدَهُمُaḥadahumuone of themالْمَوْتُl-mawtu[the] deathقَالَqālahe saysإِنِّيinnīIndeed Iتُبْتُtub'turepentالْءَانَl-ānanowوَلَاwalāand notالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَمُوتُونَyamūtūnadieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyكُفَّارٌkuffārun(are) disbelieversأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseأَعْتَدْنَاaʿtadnāWe have preparedلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
19. 19يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]لَاlāNotيَحِلُّyaḥillu(is) lawfulلَكُمْlakumfor youأَنْanthatتَرِثُواtarithūyou inheritالنِّسَاءَl-nisāathe womenكَرْهًاkarhan(by) forceوَلَاwalāAnd notتَعْضُلُوهُنَّtaʿḍulūhunnayou constraint themلِتَذْهَبُواlitadhhabūso that you may takeبِبَعْضِbibaʿḍia partمَاmā(of) whatءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّātaytumūhunnayou have given themإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatيَأْتِينَyatīnathey commitبِفَاحِشَةٍbifāḥishatinimmoralityمُبَيِّنَةٍmubayyinatinopenوَعَاشِرُوهُنَّwaʿāshirūhunnaAnd live with themبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfiin kindnessفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّkarih'tumūhunnayou dislike themفَعَسَىfaʿasāthen perhapsأَنْanthatتَكْرَهُواtakrahūyou dislikeشَيْئًاshayana thingوَيَجْعَلَwayajʿalaand has placedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفِيهِfīhiin itخَيْرًاkhayrangoodكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch
20. 20وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifأَرَدْتُمُaradttumuyou intendاسْتِبْدَالَis'tib'dālareplacingزَوْجٍzawjina wifeمَكَانَmakāna(in) placeزَوْجٍzawjin(of) a wifeوَءَاتَيْتُمْwaātaytumand you have givenإِحْدَاهُنَّiḥ'dāhunnaone of themقِنْطَارًاqinṭāranheap (of gold)فَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَأْخُذُواtakhudhūtake awayمِنْهُmin'hufrom itشَيْئًاshayananythingأَتَأْخُذُونَهُatakhudhūnahuWould you take itبُهْتَانًاbuh'tānan(by) slanderوَإِثْمًاwa-ith'manand a sinمُبِينًاmubīnanopen
21. 21وَكَيْفَwakayfaAnd howتَأْخُذُونَهُtakhudhūnahucould you take itوَقَدْwaqadwhen surelyأَفْضَىafḍāhas goneبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumone of youإِلَىilātoبَعْضٍbaʿḍinanotherوَأَخَذْنَwa-akhadhnaand they have takenمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youمِيثَاقًاmīthāqancovenantغَلِيظًاghalīẓanstrong
22. 22وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَنْكِحُواtankiḥūmarryمَاmāwhomنَكَحَnakaḥamarriedءَابَاؤُكُمْābāukumyour fathersمِنَminaofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatقَدْqadhasسَلَفَsalafapassed beforeإِنَّهُinnahuindeed itكَانَkānawasفَاحِشَةًfāḥishatanan immoralityوَمَقْتًاwamaqtanand hatefulوَسَاءَwasāaand (an) evilسَبِيلًاsabīlanway
23. 23حُرِّمَتْḥurrimatForbiddenعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youأُمَّهَاتُكُمْummahātukum(are) your mothersوَبَنَاتُكُمْwabanātukumand your daughtersوَأَخَوَاتُكُمْwa-akhawātukumand your sistersوَعَمَّاتُكُمْwaʿammātukumand your father's sistersوَخَالَاتُكُمْwakhālātukumand your mother's sistersوَبَنَاتُwabanātuand daughtersالْأَخِl-akhi(of) brothersوَبَنَاتُwabanātuand daughtersالْأُخْتِl-ukh'ti(of) sistersوَأُمَّهَاتُكُمُwa-ummahātukumuand (the) mothersاللَّاتِيallātīwhoأَرْضَعْنَكُمْarḍaʿnakumnursed youوَأَخَوَاتُكُمْwa-akhawātukumand your sistersمِنَminafromالرَّضَاعَةِl-raḍāʿatithe nursingوَأُمَّهَاتُwa-ummahātuand mothersنِسَائِكُمْnisāikum(of) your wivesوَرَبَائِبُكُمُwarabāibukumuand your step daughtersاللَّاتِيallātīwhoفِيfī(are) inحُجُورِكُمْḥujūrikumyour guardianshipمِنْminofنِسَائِكُمُnisāikumuyour womenاللَّاتِيallātīwhomدَخَلْتُمْdakhaltumyou had relationsبِهِنَّbihinnawith themفَإِنْfa-inbut ifلَمْlamnotتَكُونُواtakūnūyou hadدَخَلْتُمْdakhaltumrelationsبِهِنَّbihinnawith themفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥasinعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youوَحَلَائِلُwaḥalāiluAnd wivesأَبْنَائِكُمُabnāikumu(of) your sonsالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoمِنْmin(are) fromأَصْلَابِكُمْaṣlābikumyour loinsوَأَنْwa-anand thatتَجْمَعُواtajmaʿūyou gather togetherبَيْنَbayna[between]الْأُخْتَيْنِl-ukh'taynitwo sistersإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhatقَدْqadhasسَلَفَsalafapassed beforeإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost-Merciful
24. 24وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُwal-muḥ'ṣanātuAnd (prohibited are) the ones who are marriedمِنَminaofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenإِلَّاillāexceptمَاmāwhomمَلَكَتْmalakatyou possessأَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumrightfullyكِتَابَkitābaDecreeاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youوَأُحِلَّwa-uḥillaAnd are lawfulلَكُمْlakumto youمَاmāwhatوَرَاءَwarāa(is) beyondذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatأَنْanthatتَبْتَغُواtabtaghūyou seekبِأَمْوَالِكُمْbi-amwālikumwith your wealthمُحْصِنِينَmuḥ'ṣinīnadesiring to be chasteغَيْرَghayranotمُسَافِحِينَmusāfiḥīna(to be) lustfulفَمَاfamāSo whatاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْis'tamtaʿtumyou benefit[ed]بِهِbihiof itمِنْهُنَّmin'hunnafrom themفَءَاتُوهُنَّfaātūhunnaso you give themأُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal dueفَرِيضَةًfarīḍatan(as) an obligationوَلَاwalāAnd (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥasinعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youفِيمَاfīmāconcerning whatتَرَاضَيْتُمْtarāḍaytumyou mutually agreeبِهِbihiof itمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdibeyondالْفَرِيضَةِl-farīḍatithe obligationإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
25. 25وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(is) notيَسْتَطِعْyastaṭiʿable toمِنْكُمْminkumamong youطَوْلًاṭawlanaffordأَنْantoيَنْكِحَyankiḥamarryالْمُحْصَنَاتِl-muḥ'ṣanātithe free chasteالْمُؤْمِنَاتِl-mu'mināti[the] believing womenفَمِنْfaminthen (marry) fromمَاmāwhatمَلَكَتْmalakatpossess[ed]أَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handsمِنْminofفَتَيَاتِكُمُfatayātikumuyour girlsالْمُؤْمِنَاتِl-mu'mināti(of) the believersوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows bestبِإِيمَانِكُمْbiīmānikumabout your faithبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumYouمِنْmin(are) fromبَعْضٍbaʿḍin(one) anotherفَانْكِحُوهُنَّfa-inkiḥūhunnaSo marry themبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niwith (the) permissionأَهْلِهِنَّahlihinna(of) their familyوَءَاتُوهُنَّwaātūhunnaand give themأُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal dueبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfiin a fair mannerمُحْصَنَاتٍmuḥ'ṣanātin(They should be) chasteغَيْرَghayranotمُسَافِحَاتٍmusāfiḥātinthose who commit immoralityوَلَاwalāand notمُتَّخِذَاتِmuttakhidhātithose who takeأَخْدَانٍakhdāninsecret loversفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenأُحْصِنَّuḥ'ṣinnathey are marriedفَإِنْfa-inand ifأَتَيْنَataynathey commitبِفَاحِشَةٍbifāḥishatinadulteryفَعَلَيْهِنَّfaʿalayhinnathen for themنِصْفُniṣ'fu(is) halfمَاmā(of) whatعَلَىʿalā(is) onالْمُحْصَنَاتِl-muḥ'ṣanātithe free chaste womenمِنَminaofالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentذَلِكَdhālikaThatلِمَنْliman(is) for whoeverخَشِيَkhashiyafearsالْعَنَتَl-ʿanatacommitting sinمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَأَنْwa-anand thatتَصْبِرُواtaṣbirūyou be patientخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
26. 26يُرِيدُyurīduWishesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيُبَيِّنَliyubayyinato make clearلَكُمْlakumto youوَيَهْدِيَكُمْwayahdiyakumand to guide youسُنَنَsunana(to) waysالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) thoseمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَيَتُوبَwayatūbaand (to) accept repentanceعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfrom youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-KnowingحَكِيمٌḥakīmunAll-Wise
27. 27وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُرِيدُyurīduwishesأَنْantoيَتُوبَyatūbaaccept repentanceعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfrom youوَيُرِيدُwayurīdubut wishالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَتَّبِعُونَyattabiʿūnafollowالشَّهَوَاتِl-shahawātithe passionsأَنْanthatتَمِيلُواtamīlūyou deviateمَيْلًاmaylan(into) a deviationعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
28. 28يُرِيدُyurīduWishesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْantoيُخَفِّفَyukhaffifalightenعَنْكُمْʿankumfor youوَخُلِقَwakhuliqaand was createdالْإِنْسَانُl-insānuthe mankindضَعِيفًاḍaʿīfanweak
29. 29يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!لَاlā(Do) notتَأْكُلُواtakulūeatأَمْوَالَكُمْamwālakumyour wealthبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween yourselvesبِالْبَاطِلِbil-bāṭiliunjustlyإِلَّاillāButأَنْanthatتَكُونَtakūna(there) beتِجَارَةًtijāratanbusinessعَنْʿanonتَرَاضٍtarāḍinmutual consentمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقْتُلُواtaqtulūkillأَنْفُسَكُمْanfusakumyourselvesإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِكُمْbikumto youرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
30. 30وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَفْعَلْyafʿaldoesذَلِكَdhālikathatعُدْوَانًاʿud'wānan(in) aggressionوَظُلْمًاwaẓul'manand injusticeفَسَوْفَfasawfathen soonنُصْلِيهِnuṣ'līhiWe (will) cast himنَارًاnāran(into) a FireوَكَانَwakānaAnd isذَلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalāforاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرًاyasīraneasy
31. 31إِنْinIfتَجْتَنِبُواtajtanibūyou avoidكَبَائِرَkabāiragreat (sins)مَاmā(of) whatتُنْهَوْنَtun'hawnayou are forbiddenعَنْهُʿanhufrom [it]نُكَفِّرْnukaffirWe will removeعَنْكُمْʿankumfrom youسَيِّئَاتِكُمْsayyiātikumyour evil deedsوَنُدْخِلْكُمْwanud'khil'kumand We will admit youمُدْخَلًاmud'khalan(to) an entranceكَرِيمًاkarīmana noble
32. 32وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَمَنَّوْاtatamannawcovetمَاmāwhatفَضَّلَfaḍḍala(has) bestowedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِهِbihi[with it]بَعْضَكُمْbaʿḍakumsome of youعَلَىʿalāoverبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersلِلرِّجَالِlilrrijāliFor menنَصِيبٌnaṣībun(is) a shareمِمَّاmimmāof whatاكْتَسَبُواik'tasabūthey earnedوَلِلنِّسَاءِwalilnnisāiand for womenنَصِيبٌnaṣībun(is) a shareمِمَّاmimmāof whatاكْتَسَبْنَik'tasabnathey earnedوَسْءَلُواwasalūAnd askاللَّهَl-lahaAllahمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis BountyإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knower
33. 33وَلِكُلٍّwalikullinAnd for allجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe (have) madeمَوَالِيَmawāliyaheirsمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtaraka(is) leftالْوَالِدَانِl-wālidāni(by) the parentsوَالْأَقْرَبُونَwal-aqrabūnaand the relativesوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whomعَقَدَتْʿaqadatpledgedأَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handsفَءَاتُوهُمْfaātūhumthen give themنَصِيبَهُمْnaṣībahumtheir shareإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلَىʿalāoverكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingشَهِيدًاshahīdana Witness
34. 34الرِّجَالُal-rijālu[The] menقَوَّامُونَqawwāmūna(are) protectorsعَلَىʿalāofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenبِمَاbimābecauseفَضَّلَfaḍḍala(has) bestowedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَعْضَهُمْbaʿḍahumsome of themعَلَىʿalāoverبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersوَبِمَاwabimāand becauseأَنْفَقُواanfaqūthey spendمِنْminfromأَمْوَالِهِمْamwālihimtheir wealthفَالصَّالِحَاتُfal-ṣāliḥātuSo the righteous womenقَانِتَاتٌqānitātun(are) obedientحَافِظَاتٌḥāfiẓātunguardingلِلْغَيْبِlil'ghaybiin the unseenبِمَاbimāthat whichحَفِظَḥafiẓa(orders) them to guardاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَاللَّاتِيwa-allātīAnd those (from) whomتَخَافُونَtakhāfūnayou fearنُشُوزَهُنَّnushūzahunnatheir ill-conductفَعِظُوهُنَّfaʿiẓūhunnathen advise themوَاهْجُرُوهُنَّwa-uh'jurūhunnaand forsake themفِيfīinالْمَضَاجِعِl-maḍājiʿithe bedوَاضْرِبُوهُنَّwa-iḍ'ribūhunnaand set forth to them / strike themفَإِنْfa-inThen ifأَطَعْنَكُمْaṭaʿnakumthey obey youفَلَاfalāthen (do) notتَبْغُواtabghūseekعَلَيْهِنَّʿalayhinnaagainst themسَبِيلًاsabīlana wayإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيًّاʿaliyyanMost HighكَبِيرًاkabīranMost Great
35. 35وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifخِفْتُمْkhif'tumyou fearشِقَاقَshiqāqaa dissensionبَيْنِهِمَاbaynihimābetween (the) two of themفَابْعَثُواfa-ib'ʿathūthen sendحَكَمًاḥakamanan arbitratorمِنْminfromأَهْلِهِahlihihis familyوَحَكَمًاwaḥakamanand an arbitratorمِنْminfromأَهْلِهَاahlihāher familyإِنْinIfيُرِيدَاyurīdāthey both wishإِصْلَاحًاiṣ'lāḥanreconciliationيُوَفِّقِyuwaffiqiwill cause reconciliationاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumābetween both of themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowerخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
36. 36وَاعْبُدُواwa-uʿ'budūAnd worshipاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُشْرِكُواtush'rikūassociateبِهِbihiwith Himشَيْئًاshayananythingوَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِwabil-wālidayniand to the parentsإِحْسَانًاiḥ'sānan(do) goodوَبِذِيwabidhīand withالْقُرْبَىl-qur'bāthe relativesوَالْيَتَامَىwal-yatāmāand the orphansوَالْمَسَاكِينِwal-masākīniand the needyوَالْجَارِwal-jāriand the neighborذِيdhī(who is)الْقُرْبَىl-qur'bānearوَالْجَارِwal-jāriand the neighborالْجُنُبِl-junubi(who is) farther awayوَالصَّاحِبِwal-ṣāḥibiand the companionبِالْجَنْبِbil-janbiby your sideوَابْنِwa-ib'niand theالسَّبِيلِl-sabīlitravelerوَمَاwamāand whatمَلَكَتْmalakatpossess[ed]أَيْمَانُكُمْaymānukumyour right handsإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveمَنْman(the one) whoكَانَkānaisمُخْتَالًاmukh'tālan[a] proudفَخُورًاfakhūran(and) [a] boastful
37. 37الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَبْخَلُونَyabkhalūnaare stingyوَيَأْمُرُونَwayamurūnaand orderالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleبِالْبُخْلِbil-bukh'li[of] stinginessوَيَكْتُمُونَwayaktumūnaand hideمَاmāwhatءَاتَاهُمُātāhumu(has) given themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāand We (have) preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentمُهِينًاmuhīnanhumiliating
38. 38وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoيُنْفِقُونَyunfiqūnaspendأَمْوَالَهُمْamwālahumtheir wealthرِئَاءَriāato be seenالنَّاسِl-nāsi(by) the peopleوَلَاwalāand notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَلَاwalāand notبِالْيَوْمِbil-yawmiin the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيَكُنِyakunihasالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanلَهُlahufor himقَرِينًاqarīnan(as) companionفَسَاءَfasāathen evilقَرِينًاqarīnan(is he as) a companion
39. 39وَمَاذَاwamādhāAnd whatعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim(is) against themلَوْlawifءَامَنُواāmanūthey believedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastوَأَنْفَقُواwa-anfaqūand spentمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatرَزَقَهُمُrazaqahumu(has) provided themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِهِمْbihimabout themعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knower
40. 40إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَظْلِمُyaẓlimuwrongمِثْقَالَmith'qāla(as much as) weightذَرَّةٍdharratin(of) an atomوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَكُtakuthere isحَسَنَةًḥasanatana goodيُضَاعِفْهَاyuḍāʿif'hāHe doubles itوَيُؤْتِwayu'tiand givesمِنْminfromلَدُنْهُladun'hunear Himأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
41. 41فَكَيْفَfakayfaSo how (will it be)إِذَاidhāwhenجِئْنَاji'nāWe bringمِنْminfromكُلِّkullieveryأُمَّةٍummatinnationبِشَهِيدٍbishahīdina witnessوَجِئْنَاwaji'nāand We bringبِكَbikayouعَلَىʿalāagainstهَؤُلَاءِhāulāithese (people)شَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a witness
42. 42يَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhin(On) that Dayيَوَدُّyawadduwill wishالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَعَصَوُاwaʿaṣawūand disobeyedالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerلَوْlawifتُسَوَّىtusawwāwas leveledبِهِمُbihimuwith themالْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earthوَلَاwalāand notيَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnathey will (be able to) hideاللَّهَl-laha(from) Allahحَدِيثًاḥadīthan(any) statement
43. 43يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!لَاlā(Do) notتَقْرَبُواtaqrabūgo nearالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youسُكَارَىsukārā(are) intoxicatedحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَعْلَمُواtaʿlamūyou knowمَاmāwhatتَقُولُونَtaqūlūnayou are sayingوَلَاwalāand notجُنُبًاjunuban(when you are) impureإِلَّاillāexceptعَابِرِيʿābirī(when) passingسَبِيلٍsabīlin(through) a wayحَتَّىḥattāuntilتَغْتَسِلُواtaghtasilūyou have bathedوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمَرْضَىmarḍāillأَوْaworعَلَىʿalāonسَفَرٍsafarina journeyأَوْaworجَاءَjāacameأَحَدٌaḥadunoneمِنْكُمْminkumof youمِنَminafromالْغَائِطِl-ghāiṭithe toiletأَوْaworلَامَسْتُمُlāmastumuyou have touchedالنِّسَاءَl-nisāathe womenفَلَمْfalamand notتَجِدُواtajidūyou findمَاءًmāanwaterفَتَيَمَّمُواfatayammamūthen do tayammumصَعِيدًاṣaʿīdan(with) earthطَيِّبًاṭayyibancleanفَامْسَحُواfa-im'saḥūand wipe (with it)بِوُجُوهِكُمْbiwujūhikumyour facesوَأَيْدِيكُمْwa-aydīkumand your handsإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَفُوًّاʿafuwwanOft-PardoningغَفُورًاghafūranOft-Forgiving
44. 44أَلَمْalamDid notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookيَشْتَرُونَyashtarūnapurchasingالضَّلَالَةَl-ḍalālata[the] errorوَيُرِيدُونَwayurīdūnaand wishingأَنْanthatتَضِلُّواtaḍillūyou strayالسَّبِيلَl-sabīla(from) the way
45. 45وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows betterبِأَعْدَائِكُمْbi-aʿdāikumabout your enemiesوَكَفَىwakafāand (is) sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahوَلِيًّاwaliyyan(as) a Protectorوَكَفَىwakafāand sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahi(is) Allahنَصِيرًاnaṣīran(as) a Helper
46. 46مِنَminaOfالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُواhādūare Jewsيُحَرِّفُونَyuḥarrifūnathey distortالْكَلِمَl-kalimathe wordsعَنْʿanfromمَوَاضِعِهِmawāḍiʿihitheir placesوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe hear[d]وَعَصَيْنَاwaʿaṣaynāand we disobey[ed]وَاسْمَعْwa-is'maʿand Hearغَيْرَghayranotمُسْمَعٍmus'maʿinto be heardوَرَاعِنَاwarāʿināand Rainaلَيًّاlayyantwistingبِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْbi-alsinatihim[with] their tonguesوَطَعْنًاwaṭaʿnanand defamingفِيfī[in]الدِّينِl-dīnithe religionوَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّهُمْannahum[that] theyقَالُواqālū(had) saidسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe hear[d]وَأَطَعْنَاwa-aṭaʿnāand we obey[ed]وَاسْمَعْwa-is'maʿand Hearوَانْظُرْنَاwa-unẓur'nāand look (at) usلَكَانَlakānasurely it (would) have beenخَيْرًاkhayranbetterلَهُمْlahumfor themوَأَقْوَمَwa-aqwamaand more suitableوَلَكِنْwalākin[And] butلَعَنَهُمُlaʿanahumucursed themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِكُفْرِهِمْbikuf'rihimfor their disbeliefفَلَاfalāso notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana few
47. 47يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoأُوتُواūtū(have) been givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookءَامِنُواāminūbelieveبِمَاbimāin whatنَزَّلْنَاnazzalnāWe (have) revealedمُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqanconfirmingلِمَاlimāwhat isمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]نَطْمِسَnaṭmisaWe effaceوُجُوهًاwujūhanfacesفَنَرُدَّهَاfanaruddahāand turn themعَلَىʿalāonأَدْبَارِهَاadbārihātheir backsأَوْaworنَلْعَنَهُمْnalʿanahumWe curse themكَمَاkamāasلَعَنَّاlaʿannāWe cursedأَصْحَابَaṣḥābacompanionsالسَّبْتِl-sabti(of) the SabbathوَكَانَwakānaAnd isأَمْرُamru(the) commandاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمَفْعُولًاmafʿūlan(always) executed
48. 48إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيَغْفِرُyaghfiruforgiveأَنْanthatيُشْرَكَyush'rakapartners be associatedبِهِbihiwith Himوَيَغْفِرُwayaghfirubut He forgivesمَاmāfromدُونَdūnaother thanذَلِكَdhālikathatلِمَنْlimanfor whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُشْرِكْyush'rikassociates partnersبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allahفَقَدِfaqadithen surelyافْتَرَىif'tarāhe has fabricatedإِثْمًاith'mana sinعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmantremendous
49. 49أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُزَكُّونَyuzakkūnaclaim purityأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahum(for) themselvesبَلِbaliNayاللَّهُl-lahu(it is) AllahيُزَكِّيyuzakkīHe purifiesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَلَاwalāand notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnathey will be wrongedفَتِيلًاfatīlan(even as much as) a hair on a date-seed
50. 50انْظُرْunẓurSeeكَيْفَkayfahowيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnathey inventعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhiba[the] lieوَكَفَىwakafāand sufficientبِهِbihiis itإِثْمًاith'man(as) a sinمُبِينًاmubīnanmanifest
51. 51أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnaThey believeبِالْجِبْتِbil-jib'tiin the superstitionوَالطَّاغُوتِwal-ṭāghūtiand the false deitiesوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]هَؤُلَاءِhāulāiTheseأَهْدَىahdā(are) better guidedمِنَminathanالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]سَبِيلًاsabīlan(as to the) way
52. 52أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the onesلَعَنَهُمُlaʿanahumu(who have been) cursedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيَلْعَنِyalʿani(is) cursedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَلَنْfalanthen neverتَجِدَtajidawill you findلَهُlahufor himنَصِيرًاnaṣīran(any) helper
53. 53أَمْamOrلَهُمْlahumfor themنَصِيبٌnaṣībun(is) a shareمِنَminaofالْمُلْكِl-mul'kithe Kingdomفَإِذًاfa-idhanThenلَاlānot wouldيُؤْتُونَyu'tūnathey giveالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleنَقِيرًاnaqīran(even as much as the) speck on a date seed
54. 54أَمْamOrيَحْسُدُونَyaḥsudūnaare they jealousالنَّاسَl-nāsa(of) the peopleعَلَىʿalāforمَاmāwhatءَاتَاهُمُātāhumugave themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminfromفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis BountyفَقَدْfaqadBut surelyءَاتَيْنَاātaynāWe gaveءَالَāla(the) familyإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand [the] wisdomوَءَاتَيْنَاهُمْwaātaynāhumand [We] gave themمُلْكًاmul'kana kingdomعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
55. 55فَمِنْهُمْfamin'humThen of themمَنْman(are some) whoءَامَنَāmanabelievedبِهِbihiin himوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand of themمَنْman(are some) whoصَدَّṣaddaturned awayعَنْهُʿanhufrom himوَكَفَىwakafāand sufficientبِجَهَنَّمَbijahannama(is) Hellسَعِيرًاsaʿīran(as a) Blazing Fire
56. 56إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināin Our Signsسَوْفَsawfasoonنُصْلِيهِمْnuṣ'līhimWe will burn themنَارًاnāran(in) a FireكُلَّمَاkullamāEvery timeنَضِجَتْnaḍijatare roastedجُلُودُهُمْjulūduhumtheir skinsبَدَّلْنَاهُمْbaddalnāhumWe will change theirجُلُودًاjulūdanskinsغَيْرَهَاghayrahāfor other (than) thatلِيَذُوقُواliyadhūqūso that they may tasteالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَزِيزًاʿazīzanAll-MightyحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
57. 57وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe good deedsسَنُدْخِلُهُمْsanud'khiluhumWe will admit themجَنَّاتٍjannātin(in) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abideفِيهَاfīhāin itأَبَدًاabadanforeverلَهُمْlahumFor themفِيهَاfīhāin itأَزْوَاجٌazwājun(are) spousesمُطَهَّرَةٌmuṭahharatunpureوَنُدْخِلُهُمْwanud'khiluhumand We will admit themظِلًّاẓillan(in the) shadeظَلِيلًاẓalīlanthick
58. 58إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَأْمُرُكُمْyamurukumorders youأَنْantoتُؤَدُّواtu-addūrenderالْأَمَانَاتِl-amānātithe trustsإِلَىilātoأَهْلِهَاahlihātheir ownersوَإِذَاwa-idhāand whenحَكَمْتُمْḥakamtumyou judgeبَيْنَbaynabetweenالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleأَنْantoتَحْكُمُواtaḥkumūjudgeبِالْعَدْلِbil-ʿadliwith justiceإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahنِعِمَّاniʿimmāexcellentlyيَعِظُكُمْyaʿiẓukumadvises youبِهِbihiwith itإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisسَمِيعًاsamīʿanAll-HearingبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seeing
59. 59يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]أَطِيعُواaṭīʿūObeyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūand obeyالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerوَأُولِيwa-ulīand thoseالْأَمْرِl-amri(having) authorityمِنْكُمْminkumamong youفَإِنْfa-inThen ifتَنَازَعْتُمْtanāzaʿtumyou disagreeفِيfīinشَيْءٍshayinanythingفَرُدُّوهُfaruddūhurefer itإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَالرَّسُولِwal-rasūliand the Messengerإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتُؤْمِنُونَtu'minūnabelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhiri[the] LastذَلِكَdhālikaThatخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestوَأَحْسَنُwa-aḥsanuand more suitableتَأْوِيلًاtawīlan(for final) determination
60. 60أَلَمْalamDo notتَرَtarayou seeإِلَىilā[towards]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَزْعُمُونَyazʿumūnaclaimأَنَّهُمْannahumthat theyءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِمَاbimāin whatأُنْزِلَunzila(is) revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey wishأَنْantoيَتَحَاكَمُواyataḥākamūgo for judgmentإِلَىilātoالطَّاغُوتِl-ṭāghūtithe false deitiesوَقَدْwaqadand surelyأُمِرُواumirūthey were orderedأَنْantoيَكْفُرُواyakfurūrejectبِهِbihi[with] itوَيُرِيدُwayurīduAnd wishesالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanأَنْantoيُضِلَّهُمْyuḍillahummislead themضَلَالًاḍalālanastrayبَعِيدًاbaʿīdanfar away
61. 61وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقِيلَqīlait is saidلَهُمْlahumto themتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeإِلَىilātoمَاmāwhatأَنْزَلَanzala(has) revealedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَإِلَىwa-ilāand toالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerرَأَيْتَra-aytayou seeالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocritesيَصُدُّونَyaṣuddūnaturning awayعَنْكَʿankafrom youصُدُودًاṣudūdan(in) aversion
62. 62فَكَيْفَfakayfaSo howإِذَاidhāwhenأَصَابَتْهُمْaṣābathumbefalls themمُصِيبَةٌmuṣībatundisasterبِمَاbimāfor whatقَدَّمَتْqaddamatsent forthأَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir handsثُمَّthummathenجَاءُوكَjāūkathey come to youيَحْلِفُونَyaḥlifūnaswearingبِاللَّهِbil-lahiby AllahإِنْinNotأَرَدْنَاaradnāwe intendedإِلَّاillāexceptإِحْسَانًاiḥ'sānangoodوَتَوْفِيقًاwatawfīqanand reconciliation
63. 63أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones whoيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاmāwhatفِيfī(is) inقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsفَأَعْرِضْfa-aʿriḍso turn awayعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَعِظْهُمْwaʿiẓ'humand admonish themوَقُلْwaquland sayلَهُمْlahumto themفِيfīconcerningأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimtheir soulsقَوْلًاqawlana wordبَلِيغًاbalīghanpenetrating
64. 64وَمَاwamāAnd notأَرْسَلْنَاarsalnāWe sentمِنْminanyرَسُولٍrasūlinMessengerإِلَّاillāexceptلِيُطَاعَliyuṭāʿato be obeyedبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahوَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّهُمْannahum[that] theyإِذْidhwhenظَلَمُواẓalamūthey wrongedأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesجَاءُوكَjāūka(had) come to youفَاسْتَغْفَرُواfa-is'taghfarūand asked forgivenessاللَّهَl-laha(of) Allahوَاسْتَغْفَرَwa-is'taghfaraand asked forgivenessلَهُمُlahumufor themالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerلَوَجَدُواlawajadūsurely they would have foundاللَّهَl-lahaAllahتَوَّابًاtawwābanOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
65. 65فَلَاfalāBut noوَرَبِّكَwarabbikaby your Lordلَاlānotيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnawill they believeحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُحَكِّمُوكَyuḥakkimūkathey make you judgeفِيمَاfīmāabout whatشَجَرَshajaraarisesبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themثُمَّthummathenلَاlānotيَجِدُواyajidūthey findفِيfīinأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesحَرَجًاḥarajanany discomfortمِمَّاmimmāabout whatقَضَيْتَqaḍaytayou (have) decidedوَيُسَلِّمُواwayusallimūand submitتَسْلِيمًاtaslīman(in full) submission
66. 66وَلَوْwalawAnd ifأَنَّاannā[that] Weكَتَبْنَاkatabnā(had) decreedعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themأَنِanithatاقْتُلُواuq'tulūKillأَنْفُسَكُمْanfusakumyourselvesأَوِawiorاخْرُجُواukh'rujūGo forthمِنْminfromدِيَارِكُمْdiyārikumyour homesمَاmānotفَعَلُوهُfaʿalūhuthey would have done itإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلٌqalīluna fewمِنْهُمْmin'humof themوَلَوْwalawBut ifأَنَّهُمْannahum[that] theyفَعَلُواfaʿalūhad doneمَاmāwhatيُوعَظُونَyūʿaẓūnathey were advisedبِهِbihiwith [it]لَكَانَlakānasurely (it) would have beenخَيْرًاkhayranbetterلَهُمْlahumfor themوَأَشَدَّwa-ashaddaand strongerتَثْبِيتًاtathbītanstrengthen(ing)
67. 67وَإِذًاwa-idhanAnd thenلَءَاتَيْنَاهُمْlaātaynāhumWe would (have) given themمِنْminfromلَدُنَّاladunnāOurselvesأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
68. 68وَلَهَدَيْنَاهُمْwalahadaynāhumAnd We would have guided themصِرَاطًاṣirāṭan(to the) wayمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīman(the) straight
69. 69وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَالرَّسُولَwal-rasūlaand the Messengerفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseمَعَmaʿa(will be) withالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomأَنْعَمَanʿamahas bestowed (His) Favorاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimupon themمِنَminaofالنَّبِيِّينَl-nabiyīnathe Prophetsوَالصِّدِّيقِينَwal-ṣidīqīnaand the truthfulوَالشُّهَدَاءِwal-shuhadāiand the martyrsوَالصَّالِحِينَwal-ṣāliḥīnaand the righteousوَحَسُنَwaḥasunaAnd excellentأُولَئِكَulāika(are) thoseرَفِيقًاrafīqancompanion(s)
70. 70ذَلِكَdhālikaThatالْفَضْلُl-faḍlu(is) the Bountyمِنَminaofاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَكَفَىwakafāand sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīman(as) All-Knower
71. 71يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!خُذُواkhudhūTakeحِذْرَكُمْḥidh'rakumyour precautionsفَانْفِرُواfa-infirūand advanceثُبَاتٍthubātin(in) groupsأَوِawiorانْفِرُواinfirūadvanceجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall together
72. 72وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنْكُمْminkumamong youلَمَنْlaman(is he) whoلَيُبَطِّئَنَّlayubaṭṭi-annalags behindفَإِنْfa-inthen ifأَصَابَتْكُمْaṣābatkumbefalls youمُصِيبَةٌmuṣībatuna disasterقَالَqālahe saidقَدْqadVerilyأَنْعَمَanʿama(has) favoredاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيَّʿalayya[on] meإِذْidh[when]لَمْlam(that) notأَكُنْakunI wasمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themشَهِيدًاshahīdanpresent
73. 73وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifأَصَابَكُمْaṣābakumbefalls youفَضْلٌfaḍlunbountyمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلَيَقُولَنَّlayaqūlannahe would surely sayكَأَنْka-anas ifلَمْlam(had) notتَكُنْtakunthere beenبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youوَبَيْنَهُwabaynahuand between himمَوَدَّةٌmawaddatunany affectionيَالَيْتَنِيyālaytanīOh! I wishكُنْتُkuntuI had beenمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themفَأَفُوزَfa-afūzathen I would have attainedفَوْزًاfawzana successعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
74. 74فَلْيُقَاتِلْfalyuqātilSo let fightفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَشْرُونَyashrūnasellالْحَيَوةَl-ḥayatathe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldبِالْءَاخِرَةِbil-ākhiratifor the HereafterوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُقَاتِلْyuqātilfightsفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَيُقْتَلْfayuq'talthen he is killedأَوْaworيَغْلِبْyaghlibachieves victoryفَسَوْفَfasawfathen soonنُؤْتِيهِnu'tīhiWe will grant himأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmana great
75. 75وَمَاwamāAnd whatلَكُمْlakumfor youلَاlā(that) notتُقَاتِلُونَtuqātilūnayou fightفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَwal-mus'taḍʿafīnaand (for) those who are weakمِنَminaamongالرِّجَالِl-rijālithe menوَالنِّسَاءِwal-nisāiand the womenوَالْوِلْدَانِwal-wil'dāniand the childrenالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordأَخْرِجْنَاakhrij'nātake us outمِنْminofهَذِهِhādhihithisالْقَرْيَةِl-qaryati[the] townالظَّالِمِl-ẓālimi[the] oppressor(s)أَهْلُهَاahluhā(are) its peopleوَاجْعَلْwa-ij'ʿaland appointلَنَاlanāfor usمِنْminfromلَدُنْكَladunkaYourselfوَلِيًّاwaliyyana protectorوَاجْعَلْwa-ij'ʿaland appointلَنَاlanāfor usمِنْminfromلَدُنْكَladunkaYourselfنَصِيرًاnaṣīrana helper
76. 76الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveيُقَاتِلُونَyuqātilūnathey fightفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand thoseكَفَرُواkafarūwho disbelieveيُقَاتِلُونَyuqātilūnathey fightفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayالطَّاغُوتِl-ṭāghūti(of) the false deitiesفَقَاتِلُواfaqātilūSo fight (against)أَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(the) friendsالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the ShaitaanإِنَّinnaIndeedكَيْدَkayda(the) strategyالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭāni(of) the Shaitaanكَانَkānaisضَعِيفًاḍaʿīfanweak
77. 77أَلَمْalamHave notتَرَtarayou seenإِلَىilā[towards]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoقِيلَqīla(when) it was saidلَهُمْlahumto themكُفُّواkuffūRestrainأَيْدِيَكُمْaydiyakumyour handsوَأَقِيمُواwa-aqīmūand establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَءَاتُواwaātūand giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatathe zakahفَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenكُتِبَkutibawas ordainedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالْقِتَالُl-qitāluthe fightingإِذَاidhāthenفَرِيقٌfarīquna groupمِنْهُمْmin'humof themيَخْشَوْنَyakhshawna[they] fearالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleكَخَشْيَةِkakhashyatias (they) fearاللَّهِl-lahiAllahأَوْaworأَشَدَّashaddamore intenseخَشْيَةًkhashyatanfearوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordلِمَlimawhyكَتَبْتَkatabtahave You ordainedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāupon usالْقِتَالَl-qitāla[the] fightingلَوْلَاlawlāWhy notأَخَّرْتَنَاakhartanāYou postpone (it for) usإِلَىilātoأَجَلٍajalina termقَرِيبٍqarībinnearقُلْqulSayمَتَاعُmatāʿuEnjoymentالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldقَلِيلٌqalīlun(is) littleوَالْءَاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratuand the Hereafterخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) betterلِمَنِlimanifor whoeverاتَّقَىittaqāfears (Allah)وَلَاwalāand notتُظْلَمُونَtuẓ'lamūnayou will be wrongedفَتِيلًاfatīlan(even as much as) a hair on a date-seed
78. 78أَيْنَمَاaynamāWhereverتَكُونُواtakūnūyou beيُدْرِكُكُمُyud'rikkumuwill overtake youالْمَوْتُl-mawtu[the] deathوَلَوْwalaweven ifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areفِيfīinبُرُوجٍburūjintowersمُشَيَّدَةٍmushayyadatinloftyوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُصِبْهُمْtuṣib'humbefalls themحَسَنَةٌḥasanatunany goodيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey sayهَذِهِhādhihiThisمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُصِبْهُمْtuṣib'humbefalls themسَيِّئَةٌsayyi-atunany evilيَقُولُواyaqūlūthey sayهَذِهِhādhihiThisمِنْmin(is) fromعِنْدِكَʿindikayouقُلْqulSayكُلٌّkullunAllمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَمَالِfamāliSo what (is wrong)هَؤُلَاءِhāulāi(with) theseالْقَوْمِl-qawmi[the] peopleلَاlānotيَكَادُونَyakādūnado they seemيَفْقَهُونَyafqahūna(to) understandحَدِيثًاḥadīthanany statement
79. 79مَاmāWhat(ever)أَصَابَكَaṣābakabefalls youمِنْminofحَسَنَةٍḥasanatin(the) goodفَمِنَfamina(is) fromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāand whateverأَصَابَكَaṣābakabefalls youمِنْminofسَيِّئَةٍsayyi-atin(the) evilفَمِنْfamin(is) fromنَفْسِكَnafsikayourselfوَأَرْسَلْنَاكَwa-arsalnākaAnd We have sent youلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the peopleرَسُولًاrasūlan(as) a Messengerوَكَفَىwakafāand is sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a Witness
80. 80مَنْman(He) whoيُطِعِyuṭiʿiobeysالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyأَطَاعَaṭāʿahe obeyedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَمَنْwamanand whoeverتَوَلَّىtawallāturns awayفَمَاfamāthen notأَرْسَلْنَاكَarsalnākaWe (have) sent youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimover themحَفِيظًاḥafīẓan(as) a guardian
81. 81وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayطَاعَةٌṭāʿatun(We pledge) obedienceفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenبَرَزُواbarazūthey leaveمِنْminfromعِنْدِكَʿindikayouبَيَّتَbayyataplan by nightطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْهُمْmin'humof themغَيْرَghayraother thanالَّذِيalladhīthat whichتَقُولُtaqūluyou sayوَاللَّهُwal-lahuBut Allahيَكْتُبُyaktuburecordsمَاmāwhatيُبَيِّتُونَyubayyitūnathey plan by nightفَأَعْرِضْfa-aʿriḍSo turn (away)عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themوَتَوَكَّلْwatawakkaland put (your) trustعَلَىʿalāinاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَكَفَىwakafāAnd sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiis Allahوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a Trustee
82. 82أَفَلَاafalāThen (do) notيَتَدَبَّرُونَyatadabbarūnathey ponderالْقُرْءَانَl-qur'āna(on) the QuranوَلَوْwalawAnd ifكَانَkānait had (been)مِنْmin(of)عِنْدِʿindifromغَيْرِghayriother thanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلَوَجَدُواlawajadūsurely they (would have) foundفِيهِfīhiin itاخْتِلَافًاikh'tilāfancontradictionكَثِيرًاkathīranmuch
83. 83وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenجَاءَهُمْjāahumcomes to themأَمْرٌamruna matterمِنَminaofالْأَمْنِl-amnithe securityأَوِawiorالْخَوْفِl-khawfi[the] fearأَذَاعُواadhāʿūthey spreadبِهِbihi[with] itوَلَوْwalawBut ifرَدُّوهُraddūhuthey (had) referred itإِلَىilātoالرَّسُولِl-rasūlithe Messengerوَإِلَىwa-ilāand toأُولِيulīthoseالْأَمْرِl-amri(having) authorityمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَعَلِمَهُlaʿalimahusurely would have known itالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَسْتَنْبِطُونَهُyastanbiṭūnahudraw correct conclusion (from) itمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(had been the) bountyاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyلَاتَّبَعْتُمُla-ittabaʿtumusurely you (would have) followedالشَّيْطَانَl-shayṭānathe Shaitaanإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana few
84. 84فَقَاتِلْfaqātilSo fightفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَاlānotتُكَلَّفُtukallafuare you responsibleإِلَّاillāexceptنَفْسَكَnafsaka(for) yourselfوَحَرِّضِwaḥarriḍiAnd encourageالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersعَسَىʿasāperhapsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْanwillيَكُفَّyakuffarestrainبَأْسَbasa(the) mightالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَشَدُّashaddu(is) Strongerبَأْسًاbasan(in) Mightوَأَشَدُّwa-ashadduand Strongerتَنْكِيلًاtankīlan(in) punishment
85. 85مَنْmanWhoeverيَشْفَعْyashfaʿintercedesشَفَاعَةًshafāʿatanan intercessionحَسَنَةًḥasanatangoodيَكُنْyakunwill haveلَهُlahufor himنَصِيبٌnaṣībuna shareمِنْهَاmin'hāof itوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيَشْفَعْyashfaʿintercedesشَفَاعَةًshafāʿatanan intercessionسَيِّئَةًsayyi-atanevilيَكُنْyakunwill haveلَهُlahufor himكِفْلٌkif'luna portionمِنْهَاmin'hāof itوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَىʿalāonكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingمُقِيتًاmuqītana Keeper
86. 86وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenحُيِّيتُمْḥuyyītumyou are greetedبِتَحِيَّةٍbitaḥiyyatinwith a greetingفَحَيُّواfaḥayyūthen greetبِأَحْسَنَbi-aḥsanawith betterمِنْهَاmin'hāthan itأَوْaworرُدُّوهَاruddūhāreturn itإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَلَىʿalāofكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingحَسِيبًاḥasībanan Accountant
87. 87اللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَاlā(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimلَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْlayajmaʿannakumsurely He will gather youإِلَىilātoيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) Resurrectionلَاlānoرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهِfīhiabout itوَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَصْدَقُaṣdaqu(is) more truthfulمِنَminathanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahحَدِيثًاḥadīthan(in) statement
88. 88فَمَاfamāSo whatلَكُمْlakum(is the matter) with youفِيfīconcerningالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocrites (that)فِئَتَيْنِfi-atayni(you have become) two partiesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuWhile Allahأَرْكَسَهُمْarkasahumcast them backبِمَاbimāfor whatكَسَبُواkasabūthey earnedأَتُرِيدُونَaturīdūnaDo you wishأَنْanthatتَهْدُواtahdūyou guideمَنْmanwhomأَضَلَّaḍallais let astrayاللَّهُl-lahu(by) AllahوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُضْلِلِyuḍ'liliis let astrayاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَلَنْfalanthen neverتَجِدَtajidawill you findلَهُlahufor himسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
89. 89وَدُّواwaddūThey wishلَوْlawifتَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnayou disbelieveكَمَاkamāasكَفَرُواkafarūthey disbelievedفَتَكُونُونَfatakūnūnaand you would beسَوَاءًsawāanalikeفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāaalliesحَتَّىḥattāuntilيُهَاجِرُواyuhājirūthey emigrateفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَإِنْfa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn backفَخُذُوهُمْfakhudhūhumseize themوَاقْتُلُوهُمْwa-uq'tulūhumand kill themحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverوَجَدْتُمُوهُمْwajadttumūhumyou find themوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themوَلِيًّاwaliyyanany allyوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
90. 90إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَصِلُونَyaṣilūnajoinإِلَىilā[to]قَوْمٍqawmina groupبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youوَبَيْنَهُمْwabaynahumand between themمِيثَاقٌmīthāqun(is) a treatyأَوْaworجَاءُوكُمْjāūkumthose who come to youحَصِرَتْḥaṣiratrestrainingصُدُورُهُمْṣudūruhumtheir heartsأَنْanthatيُقَاتِلُوكُمْyuqātilūkumthey fight youأَوْaworيُقَاتِلُواyuqātilūthey fightقَوْمَهُمْqawmahumtheir peopleوَلَوْwalawAnd ifشَاءَshāa(had) willedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَسَلَّطَهُمْlasallaṭahumsurely He (would have) given them powerعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youفَلَقَاتَلُوكُمْfalaqātalūkumand surely they (would have) fought youفَإِنِfa-iniSo ifاعْتَزَلُوكُمْiʿ'tazalūkumthey withdraw from youفَلَمْfalamand (do) notيُقَاتِلُوكُمْyuqātilūkumfight against youوَأَلْقَوْاwa-alqawand offerإِلَيْكُمُilaykumuto youالسَّلَمَl-salama[the] peaceفَمَاfamāthen notجَعَلَjaʿala(has) madeاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَكُمْlakumfor youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
91. 91سَتَجِدُونَsatajidūnaYou will findءَاخَرِينَākharīnaothersيُرِيدُونَyurīdūnawishingأَنْanthatيَأْمَنُوكُمْyamanūkumthey be secure from youوَيَأْمَنُواwayamanūand they be secure fromقَوْمَهُمْqawmahumtheir peopleكُلَّkullaEverytimeمَاmāthatرُدُّواruddūthey are returnedإِلَىilātoالْفِتْنَةِl-fit'natithe temptationأُرْكِسُواur'kisūthey are plungedفِيهَاfīhāinto itفَإِنْfa-inSo ifلَمْlamnotيَعْتَزِلُوكُمْyaʿtazilūkumthey withdraw from youوَيُلْقُواwayul'qūand offerإِلَيْكُمُilaykumuto youالسَّلَمَl-salama[the] peaceوَيَكُفُّواwayakuffūand they restrainأَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir handsفَخُذُوهُمْfakhudhūhumthen seize themوَاقْتُلُوهُمْwa-uq'tulūhumand kill themحَيْثُḥaythuwhereverثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْthaqif'tumūhumyou find themوَأُولَئِكُمْwa-ulāikumAnd thoseجَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe madeلَكُمْlakumfor youعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanan authorityمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
92. 92وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisلِمُؤْمِنٍlimu'mininfor a believerأَنْanthatيَقْتُلَyaqtulahe killsمُؤْمِنًاmu'minana believerإِلَّاillāexceptخَطَءًاkhaṭa-an(by) mistakeوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverقَتَلَqatalakilledمُؤْمِنًاmu'minana believerخَطَءًاkhaṭa-an(by) mistakeفَتَحْرِيرُfataḥrīruthen freeingرَقَبَةٍraqabatin(of) a slaveمُؤْمِنَةٍmu'minatinbelievingوَدِيَةٌwadiyatunand blood moneyمُسَلَّمَةٌmusallamatun(is to be) paidإِلَىilātoأَهْلِهِahlihihis familyإِلَّاillāunlessأَنْanthatيَصَّدَّقُواyaṣṣaddaqūthey remit (as) charityفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَانَkāna(he) wasمِنْminfromقَوْمٍqawmina peopleعَدُوٍّʿaduwwinhostileلَكُمْlakumto youوَهُوَwahuwaand he wasمُؤْمِنٌmu'minuna believerفَتَحْرِيرُfataḥrīruthen freeingرَقَبَةٍraqabatin(of) a believing slaveمُؤْمِنَةٍmu'minatinbelievingوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifكَانَkāna(he) wasمِنْminfromقَوْمٍqawmina peopleبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youوَبَيْنَهُمْwabaynahumand between themمِيثَاقٌmīthāqun(is) a treatyفَدِيَةٌfadiyatunthen blood moneyمُسَلَّمَةٌmusallamatun(is to be) paidإِلَىilātoأَهْلِهِahlihihis familyوَتَحْرِيرُwataḥrīruand freeingرَقَبَةٍraqabatin(of) a slaveمُؤْمِنَةٍmu'minatinbelievingفَمَنْfamanAnd whoeverلَمْlam(does) notيَجِدْyajidfindفَصِيَامُfaṣiyāmuthen fastingشَهْرَيْنِshahrayni(for) two monthsمُتَتَابِعَيْنِmutatābiʿayniconsecutivelyتَوْبَةًtawbatan(seeking) repentanceمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
93. 93وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَقْتُلْyaqtulkillsمُؤْمِنًاmu'minana believerمُتَعَمِّدًاmutaʿammidanintentionallyفَجَزَاؤُهُfajazāuhuthen his recompenseجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hellخَالِدًاkhālidanabiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَغَضِبَwaghaḍibaand will fall the wrathاللَّهُl-lahu(of) Allahعَلَيْهِʿalayhion himوَلَعَنَهُwalaʿanahuand He (will) curse himوَأَعَدَّwa-aʿaddaand He has preparedلَهُlahufor himعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
94. 94يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]إِذَاidhāWhenضَرَبْتُمْḍarabtumyou go forthفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَتَبَيَّنُواfatabayyanūthen investigateوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَقُولُواtaqūlūsayلِمَنْlimanto (the one) whoأَلْقَىalqāoffersإِلَيْكُمُilaykumuto youالسَّلَامَl-salāma(a greeting of) peaceلَسْتَlastaYou are notمُؤْمِنًاmu'minana believerتَبْتَغُونَtabtaghūnaseekingعَرَضَʿaraḍatransitory gainsالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati(of) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldفَعِنْدَfaʿindafor withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَغَانِمُmaghānimu(are) bootiesكَثِيرَةٌkathīratunabundantكَذَلِكَkadhālikaLike thatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeفَمَنَّfamannathen conferred favorاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youفَتَبَيَّنُواfatabayyanūso investigateإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
95. 95لَاlāNotيَسْتَوِيyastawī(are) equalالْقَاعِدُونَl-qāʿidūnathe ones who sitمِنَminaamongالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersغَيْرُghayruother thanأُولِيulīthe ones (who are)الضَّرَرِl-ḍarari[the] disabledوَالْمُجَاهِدُونَwal-mujāhidūnaand the ones who striveفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahبِأَمْوَالِهِمْbi-amwālihimwith their wealthوَأَنْفُسِهِمْwa-anfusihimand their livesفَضَّلَfaḍḍalaPreferredاللَّهُl-lahu(has) Allahالْمُجَاهِدِينَl-mujāhidīnathe ones who striveبِأَمْوَالِهِمْbi-amwālihimwith their wealthوَأَنْفُسِهِمْwa-anfusihimand their livesعَلَىʿalātoالْقَاعِدِينَl-qāʿidīnathe ones who sitدَرَجَةًdarajatan(in) rankوَكُلًّاwakullanAnd (to) allوَعَدَwaʿadapromisedاللَّهُl-lahu(has) Allahالْحُسْنَىl-ḥus'nāthe bestوَفَضَّلَwafaḍḍalapreferredاللَّهُl-lahu(has) Allahالْمُجَاهِدِينَl-mujāhidīnathe ones who striveعَلَىʿalāoverالْقَاعِدِينَl-qāʿidīnathe ones who sitأَجْرًاajran(with) a rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
96. 96دَرَجَاتٍdarajātinRanksمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himوَمَغْفِرَةًwamaghfiratanand forgivenessوَرَحْمَةًwaraḥmatanand mercyوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
97. 97إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whomتَوَفَّاهُمُtawaffāhumutake them (in death)الْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsظَالِمِيẓālimī(while) they (were) wrongingأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesقَالُواqālūthey sayفِيمَfīmaIn what (condition)كُنْتُمْkuntumwere youقَالُواqālūThey saidكُنَّاkunnāWe wereمُسْتَضْعَفِينَmus'taḍʿafīnaoppressedفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthقَالُواqālūThey saidأَلَمْalamNotتَكُنْtakunwasأَرْضُarḍu(the) earthاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَاسِعَةًwāsiʿatanspacious (enough)فَتُهَاجِرُواfatuhājirūso that you (could) emigrateفِيهَاfīhāin itفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikaThen thoseمَأْوَاهُمْmawāhum(will have) their abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(in) Hellوَسَاءَتْwasāatand it is an evilمَصِيرًاmaṣīrandestination
98. 98إِلَّاillāExceptالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَl-mus'taḍʿafīnathe oppressedمِنَminaamongالرِّجَالِl-rijālithe menوَالنِّسَاءِwal-nisāiand the womenوَالْوِلْدَانِwal-wil'dāniand the childrenلَاlā(who) notيَسْتَطِيعُونَyastaṭīʿūnaare able toحِيلَةًḥīlatanplanوَلَاwalāand notيَهْتَدُونَyahtadūnathey are directedسَبِيلًاsabīlan(to) a way
99. 99فَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikaThen thoseعَسَىʿasāmay beاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنْanwillيَعْفُوَyaʿfuwapardonعَنْهُمْʿanhum[on] themوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَفُوًّاʿafuwwanOft-PardoningغَفُورًاghafūranOft-Forgiving
100. 100وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُهَاجِرْyuhājiremigratesفِيfīinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيَجِدْyajidwill findفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthمُرَاغَمًاmurāghamanplace(s) of refugeكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyوَسَعَةًwasaʿatanand abundanceوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَخْرُجْyakhrujleavesمِنْminfromبَيْتِهِbaytihihis homeمُهَاجِرًاmuhājiran(as) an emigrantإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerثُمَّthummathenيُدْرِكْهُyud'rik'huovertakes himالْمَوْتُl-mawtu[the] deathفَقَدْfaqadthen certainlyوَقَعَwaqaʿa(became) incumbentأَجْرُهُajruhuhis rewardعَلَىʿalāonاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
101. 101وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenضَرَبْتُمْḍarabtumyou travelفِيfīinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَلَيْسَfalaysathen notعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youجُنَاحٌjunāḥun(is) any blameأَنْanthatتَقْصُرُواtaqṣurūyou shortenمِنَmina[of]الصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerإِنْinifخِفْتُمْkhif'tumyou fearأَنْanthatيَفْتِنَكُمُyaftinakumu(may) harm youالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedإِنَّinnaIndeedالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversكَانُواkānūareلَكُمْlakumfor youعَدُوًّاʿaduwwanan enemyمُبِينًاmubīnanopen
102. 102وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenكُنْتَkuntayou areفِيهِمْfīhimamong themفَأَقَمْتَfa-aqamtaand you leadلَهُمُlahumufor themالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerفَلْتَقُمْfaltaqumthen let standطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْهُمْmin'humof themمَعَكَmaʿakawith youوَلْيَأْخُذُواwalyakhudhūand let them takeأَسْلِحَتَهُمْasliḥatahumtheir armsفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenسَجَدُواsajadūthey have prostratedفَلْيَكُونُواfalyakūnūthen let them beمِنْminfromوَرَائِكُمْwarāikumbehind youوَلْتَأْتِwaltatiand let come (forward)طَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupأُخْرَىukh'rāotherلَمْlam(which has) notيُصَلُّواyuṣallūprayedفَلْيُصَلُّواfalyuṣallūand let them prayمَعَكَmaʿakawith youوَلْيَأْخُذُواwalyakhudhūand let them takeحِذْرَهُمْḥidh'rahumtheir precautionsوَأَسْلِحَتَهُمْwa-asliḥatahumand their armsوَدَّwaddaWishedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلَوْlawifتَغْفُلُونَtaghfulūnayou neglectعَنْʿan[about]أَسْلِحَتِكُمْasliḥatikumyour armsوَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْwa-amtiʿatikumand your baggageفَيَمِيلُونَfayamīlūnaso (that) they (can) assaultعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykum[upon] youمَيْلَةًmaylatan(in) an attackوَاحِدَةًwāḥidatansingleوَلَاwalāBut (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥablameعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youإِنْinifكَانَkānawasبِكُمْbikumwith youأَذًىadhanany troubleمِنْmin(because) ofمَطَرٍmaṭarinrainأَوْaworكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمَرْضَىmarḍāsickأَنْanthatتَضَعُواtaḍaʿūyou lay downأَسْلِحَتَكُمْasliḥatakumyour armsوَخُذُواwakhudhūbut takeحِذْرَكُمْḥidh'rakumyour precautionsإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahأَعَدَّaʿaddahas preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentمُهِينًاmuhīnanhumiliating
103. 103فَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenقَضَيْتُمُqaḍaytumuyou (have) finishedالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerفَاذْكُرُواfa-udh'kurūthen rememberاللَّهَl-lahaAllahقِيَامًاqiyāmanstandingوَقُعُودًاwaquʿūdanand sittingوَعَلَىwaʿalāand (lying) onجُنُوبِكُمْjunūbikumyour sidesفَإِذَاfa-idhāBut whenاطْمَأْنَنْتُمْiṭ'manantumyou are secureفَأَقِيمُواfa-aqīmūthen establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe (regular) prayerإِنَّinnaIndeedالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerكَانَتْkānatisعَلَىʿalāonالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersكِتَابًاkitābanprescribedمَوْقُوتًاmawqūtan(at) fixed times
104. 104وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَهِنُواtahinūbe weakفِيfīinابْتِغَاءِib'tighāipursuitالْقَوْمِl-qawmi(of) the peopleإِنْinIfتَكُونُواtakūnūyou areتَأْلَمُونَtalamūnasufferingفَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumthen indeed, theyيَأْلَمُونَyalamūnaare (also) sufferingكَمَاkamālike whatتَأْلَمُونَtalamūnayou are sufferingوَتَرْجُونَwatarjūnawhile you (have) hopeمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahمَاmāwhatلَاlānotيَرْجُونَyarjūnathey hopeوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
105. 105إِنَّاinnāIndeedأَنْزَلْنَاanzalnāWe (have) sent downإِلَيْكَilaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthلِتَحْكُمَlitaḥkumaso that you may judgeبَيْنَbaynabetweenالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleبِمَاbimāwith whatأَرَاكَarākahas shown youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُنْtakunbeلِلْخَائِنِينَlil'khāinīnafor the deceitfulخَصِيمًاkhaṣīmana pleader
106. 106وَاسْتَغْفِرِwa-is'taghfiriAnd seek forgivenessاللَّهَl-laha(of) AllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
107. 107وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُجَادِلْtujādilargueعَنِʿaniforالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَخْتَانُونَyakhtānūnadeceiveأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlā(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveمَنْman(the one) whoكَانَkānaisخَوَّانًاkhawwānantreacherousأَثِيمًاathīman(and) sinful
108. 108يَسْتَخْفُونَyastakhfūnaThey seek to hideمِنَminafromالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَلَاwalābut notيَسْتَخْفُونَyastakhfūna(can) they hideمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَهُوَwahuwaand Heمَعَهُمْmaʿahum(is) with themإِذْidhwhenيُبَيِّتُونَyubayyitūnathey plot by nightمَاmāwhatلَاlānotيَرْضَىyarḍā(does) he approveمِنَminaofالْقَوْلِl-qawlithe wordوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey doمُحِيطًاmuḥīṭanAll-Encompassing
109. 109هَاأَنْتُمْhāantumHere you areهَؤُلَاءِhāulāithose whoجَادَلْتُمْjādaltum[you] argueعَنْهُمْʿanhumfor themفِيfīinالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayatithe lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldفَمَنْfamanbut whoيُجَادِلُyujādiluwill argueاللَّهَl-laha(with) Allahعَنْهُمْʿanhumfor themيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] Resurrectionأَمْamorمَنْmanwhoيَكُونُyakūnuwill beعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhim[over them]وَكِيلًاwakīlan(their) defender
110. 110وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoesسُوءًاsūanevilأَوْaworيَظْلِمْyaẓlimwrongsنَفْسَهُnafsahuhis soulثُمَّthummathenيَسْتَغْفِرِyastaghfiriseeks forgivenessاللَّهَl-laha(of) Allahيَجِدِyajidihe will findاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
111. 111وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَكْسِبْyaksibearnsإِثْمًاith'mansinفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَكْسِبُهُyaksibuhuhe earns itعَلَىʿalāagainstنَفْسِهِnafsihihis soulوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
112. 112وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَكْسِبْyaksibearnsخَطِيءَةًkhaṭīatana faultأَوْaworإِثْمًاith'mana sinثُمَّthummathenيَرْمِyarmithrowsبِهِbihiitبَرِيءًاbarīan(on) an innocentفَقَدِfaqadithen surelyاحْتَمَلَiḥ'tamalahe (has) burdened (himself)بُهْتَانًاbuh'tānan(with) a slanderوَإِثْمًاwa-ith'manand a sinمُبِينًاmubīnanmanifest
113. 113وَلَوْلَاwalawlāAnd if notفَضْلُfaḍlu(for the) Graceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youوَرَحْمَتُهُwaraḥmatuhuand His Mercyلَهَمَّتْlahammatsurely (had) resolvedطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْهُمْmin'humof themأَنْantoيُضِلُّوكَyuḍillūkamislead youوَمَاwamāBut notيُضِلُّونَyuḍillūnathey misleadإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesوَمَاwamāand notيَضُرُّونَكَyaḍurrūnakathey will harm youمِنْmininشَيْءٍshayinanythingوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaAnd has sent downاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand [the] Wisdomوَعَلَّمَكَwaʿallamakaand taught youمَاmāwhatلَمْlamnotتَكُنْtakunyou didتَعْلَمُtaʿlamuknowوَكَانَwakānaAnd isفَضْلُfaḍlu(the) Graceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكَʿalaykaupon youعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
114. 114لَاlā(There is) noخَيْرَkhayragoodفِيfīinكَثِيرٍkathīrinmuchمِنْminofنَجْوَاهُمْnajwāhumtheir secret talkإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(he) whoأَمَرَamaraordersبِصَدَقَةٍbiṣadaqatincharityأَوْaworمَعْرُوفٍmaʿrūfinkindnessأَوْaworإِصْلَاحٍiṣ'lāḥinconciliationبَيْنَbaynabetweenالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَمَنْwamanAnd whoيَفْعَلْyafʿaldoesذَلِكَdhālikathatابْتِغَاءَib'tighāaseekingمَرْضَاتِmarḍātipleasureاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَسَوْفَfasawfathen soonنُؤْتِيهِnu'tīhiWe will give himأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
115. 115وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُشَاقِقِyushāqiqiopposesالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmāwhatتَبَيَّنَtabayyana(has) become clearلَهُlahuto himالْهُدَىl-hudā(of) the guidanceوَيَتَّبِعْwayattabiʿand he followsغَيْرَghayraother thanسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believersنُوَلِّهِnuwallihiWe will turn himمَاmā(to) whatتَوَلَّىtawallāhe (has) turnedوَنُصْلِهِwanuṣ'lihiand We will burn himجَهَنَّمَjahannama(in) Hellوَسَاءَتْwasāatand evil it isمَصِيرًاmaṣīran(as) a destination
116. 116إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاlādoes notيَغْفِرُyaghfiruforgiveأَنْanthatيُشْرَكَyush'rakapartners be associatedبِهِbihiwith Himوَيَغْفِرُwayaghfirubut He forgivesمَاmā[what]دُونَdūnaother thanذَلِكَdhālikathatلِمَنْlimanfor whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُشْرِكْyush'rikassociates partnersبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allahفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyضَلَّḍallahe lost (the) wayضَلَالًاḍalālanstrayingبَعِيدًاbaʿīdanfar away
117. 117إِنْinNotيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeمِنْminfromدُونِهِdūnihibesides Himإِلَّاillābutإِنَاثًاināthanfemale (deities)وَإِنْwa-inand notيَدْعُونَyadʿūnathey invokeإِلَّاillāexceptشَيْطَانًاshayṭānanShaitaanمَرِيدًاmarīdanrebellious
118. 118لَعَنَهُlaʿanahuHe was cursedاللَّهُl-lahuby Allahوَقَالَwaqālaand he saidلَأَتَّخِذَنَّla-attakhidhannaI will surely takeمِنْminfromعِبَادِكَʿibādikayour slavesنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمَفْرُوضًاmafrūḍanappointed
119. 119وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْwala-uḍillannahumAnd I will surely mislead themوَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْwala-umanniyannahumand surely arouse desires in themوَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْwalaāmurannahumand surely I will order themفَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّfalayubattikunnaso they will surely cut offءَاذَانَādhāna(the) earsالْأَنْعَامِl-anʿāmi(of) the cattleوَلَءَامُرَنَّهُمْwalaāmurannahumand surely I will order themفَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّfalayughayyirunnaso they will surely changeخَلْقَkhalqa(the) creationاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَتَّخِذِyattakhidhitakesالشَّيْطَانَl-shayṭānathe Shaitaanوَلِيًّاwaliyyan(as) a friendمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyخَسِرَkhasirahe (has) lostخُسْرَانًاkhus'rānana lossمُبِينًاmubīnanmanifest
120. 120يَعِدُهُمْyaʿiduhumHe promises themوَيُمَنِّيهِمْwayumannīhimand arouses desires in themوَمَاwamāand notيَعِدُهُمُyaʿiduhumupromises themالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanإِلَّاillāexceptغُرُورًاghurūrandeception
121. 121أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseمَأْوَاهُمْmawāhumtheir abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) Hellوَلَاwalāand notيَجِدُونَyajidūnathey will findعَنْهَاʿanhāfrom itمَحِيصًاmaḥīṣanany escape
122. 122وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand doالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsسَنُدْخِلُهُمْsanud'khiluhumWe will admit themجَنَّاتٍjannātin(in) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abideفِيهَاfīhāin itأَبَدًاabadanforeverوَعْدَwaʿdaA Promiseاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahحَقًّاḥaqqan(in) truthوَمَنْwamanand whoأَصْدَقُaṣdaqu(is) truerمِنَminathanاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقِيلًاqīlan(in) statement
123. 123لَيْسَlaysaNotبِأَمَانِيِّكُمْbi-amāniyyikumby your desireوَلَاwalāand notأَمَانِيِّamāniyyi(by the) desireأَهْلِahli(of the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookمَنْmanWhoeverيَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoesسُوءًاsūanevilيُجْزَyuj'zawill be recompensedبِهِbihifor itوَلَاwalāand notيَجِدْyajidhe will findلَهُlahufor himمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلِيًّاwaliyyanany protectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
124. 124وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَعْمَلْyaʿmaldoesمِنَmina[of]الصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsمِنْminfromذَكَرٍdhakarin(the) maleأَوْaworأُنْثَىunthāfemaleوَهُوَwahuwaand heمُؤْمِنٌmu'minun(is) a believerفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseيَدْخُلُونَyadkhulūnawill enterالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseوَلَاwalāand notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnathey will be wrongedنَقِيرًاnaqīran(even as much as) the speck on a date-seed
125. 125وَمَنْwamanAnd whoأَحْسَنُaḥsanu(is) betterدِينًاdīnan(in) religionمِمَّنْmimmanthan (one) whoأَسْلَمَaslamasubmitsوَجْهَهُwajhahuhis faceلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَهُوَwahuwaand heمُحْسِنٌmuḥ'sinun(is) a good-doerوَاتَّبَعَwa-ittabaʿaand followsمِلَّةَmillata(the) religionإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimحَنِيفًاḥanīfan(the) uprightوَاتَّخَذَwa-ittakhadhaAnd was takenاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimخَلِيلًاkhalīlan(as) a friend
126. 126وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمَاmā(is) whatفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whatفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingمُحِيطًاmuḥīṭanAll-Encompassing
127. 127وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَwayastaftūnakaAnd they seek your rulingفِيfīconcerningالنِّسَاءِl-nisāithe womenقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُفْتِيكُمْyuf'tīkumgives you the rulingفِيهِنَّfīhinnaabout themوَمَاwamāand whatيُتْلَىyut'lāis recitedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youفِيfīinالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookفِيfīconcerningيَتَامَىyatāmāorphansالنِّسَاءِl-nisāi[the] girlsاللَّاتِيallātī(to) whomلَاlānotتُؤْتُونَهُنَّtu'tūnahunna(do) you give themمَاmāwhatكُتِبَkutibais ordainedلَهُنَّlahunnafor themوَتَرْغَبُونَwatarghabūnaand you desireأَنْantoتَنْكِحُوهُنَّtankiḥūhunnamarry themوَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَwal-mus'taḍʿafīnaand the ones who are weakمِنَminaofالْوِلْدَانِl-wil'dānithe childrenوَأَنْwa-anand toتَقُومُواtaqūmūstandلِلْيَتَامَىlil'yatāmāfor orphansبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiwith justiceوَمَاwamāAnd whateverتَفْعَلُواtafʿalūyou doمِنْminofخَيْرٍkhayringoodفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِهِbihiabout itعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knowing
128. 128وَإِنِwa-iniAnd ifامْرَأَةٌim'ra-atuna womanخَافَتْkhāfatfearsمِنْminfromبَعْلِهَاbaʿlihāher husbandنُشُوزًاnushūzanill-conductأَوْaworإِعْرَاضًاiʿ'rāḍandesertionفَلَاfalāthen (there is) noجُنَاحَjunāḥasinعَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimāon both of themأَنْanthatيُصْلِحَاyuṣ'liḥāthey make terms of peaceبَيْنَهُمَاbaynahumābetween themselvesصُلْحًاṣul'ḥana reconciliationوَالصُّلْحُwal-ṣul'ḥuand [the] reconciliationخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestوَأُحْضِرَتِwa-uḥ'ḍiratiAnd are swayedالْأَنْفُسُl-anfusuthe soulsالشُّحَّl-shuḥa(by) greedوَإِنْwa-inBut ifتُحْسِنُواtuḥ'sinūyou do goodوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
129. 129وَلَنْwalanAnd neverتَسْتَطِيعُواtastaṭīʿūwill you be ableأَنْantoتَعْدِلُواtaʿdilūdeal justlyبَيْنَbaynabetweenالنِّسَاءِl-nisāi[the] womenوَلَوْwalaweven ifحَرَصْتُمْḥaraṣtumyou desiredفَلَاfalābut (do) notتَمِيلُواtamīlūinclineكُلَّkulla(with) allالْمَيْلِl-maylithe inclinationفَتَذَرُوهَاfatadharūhāand leave her (the other)كَالْمُعَلَّقَةِkal-muʿalaqatilike the suspended oneوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتُصْلِحُواtuṣ'liḥūyou reconcileوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
130. 130وَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيَتَفَرَّقَاyatafarraqāthey separateيُغْنِyugh'niwill be enrichedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahكُلًّاkullaneach (of them)مِنْminfromسَعَتِهِsaʿatihiHis abundanceوَكَانَwakānaand isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَاسِعًاwāsiʿanAll-EncompassingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
131. 131وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمَاmā(is) whateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surelyوَصَّيْنَاwaṣṣaynāWe have instructedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَإِيَّاكُمْwa-iyyākumand yourselvesأَنِanithatاتَّقُواittaqūyou fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَإِنْwa-inBut ifتَكْفُرُواtakfurūyou disbelieveفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahمَاmā(is) whateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَنِيًّاghaniyyanFree of needحَمِيدًاḥamīdanPraiseworthy
132. 132وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمَاmā(is) whateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَكَفَىwakafāAnd is sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a Disposer of affairs

134. 134مَنْmanWhoeverكَانَkāna[is]يُرِيدُyurīdudesiresثَوَابَthawābarewardالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldفَعِنْدَfaʿindathen withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahثَوَابُthawābu(is the) rewardالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand the HereafterوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahسَمِيعًاsamīʿanAll-HearingبَصِيرًاbaṣīranAll-Seeing
135. 135يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!كُونُواkūnūBeقَوَّامِينَqawwāmīnacustodiansبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiof justiceشُهَدَاءَshuhadāa(as) witnessesلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَلَوْwalaweven ifعَلَىʿalā(it is) againstأَنْفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesأَوِawiorالْوَالِدَيْنِl-wālidaynithe parentsوَالْأَقْرَبِينَwal-aqrabīnaand the relativesإِنْinifيَكُنْyakunhe beغَنِيًّاghaniyyanrichأَوْaworفَقِيرًاfaqīranpoorفَاللَّهُfal-lahufor Allahأَوْلَىawlā(is) nearerبِهِمَاbihimāto both of themفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَتَّبِعُواtattabiʿūfollowالْهَوَىl-hawāthe desireأَنْanlestتَعْدِلُواtaʿdilūyou deviateوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَلْوُواtalwūyou distortأَوْaworتُعْرِضُواtuʿ'riḍūrefrainفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرًاkhabīranAll-Aware
136. 136يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]ءَامِنُواāminūBelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرَسُولِهِwarasūlihiand His Messengerوَالْكِتَابِwal-kitābiand the BookالَّذِيalladhīwhichنَزَّلَnazzalaHe revealedعَلَىʿalāuponرَسُولِهِrasūlihiHis Messengerوَالْكِتَابِwal-kitābiand the BookالَّذِيalladhīwhichأَنْزَلَanzalaHe revealedمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelievesبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَلَائِكَتِهِwamalāikatihiand His Angelsوَكُتُبِهِwakutubihiand His Booksوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His Messengersوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyضَلَّḍallahe (has) lost (the) wayضَلَالًاḍalālanstrayingبَعِيدًاbaʿīdanfar away
137. 137إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedثُمَّthummathenكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedثُمَّthummathenءَامَنُواāmanū(again) believedثُمَّthummathenكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedثُمَّthummathenازْدَادُواiz'dādūincreasedكُفْرًاkuf'ran(in) disbeliefلَمْlamnotيَكُنِyakuniwillاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيَغْفِرَliyaghfiraforgiveلَهُمْlahum[for] themوَلَاwalāand notلِيَهْدِيَهُمْliyahdiyahumwill guide themسَبِيلًاsabīlan(to) a (right) way
138. 138بَشِّرِbashiriGive tidingsالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīna(to) the hypocritesبِأَنَّbi-annathatلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(is) a punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
139. 139الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَتَّخِذُونَyattakhidhūnatakeالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesمِنْmin(from)دُونِdūniinstead ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersأَيَبْتَغُونَayabtaghūnaDo they seekعِنْدَهُمُʿindahumuwith themالْعِزَّةَl-ʿizatathe honorفَإِنَّfa-innaBut indeedالْعِزَّةَl-ʿizatathe honorلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall
140. 140وَقَدْwaqadAnd surelyنَزَّلَnazzalaHe has revealedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youفِيfīinالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookأَنْanthatإِذَاidhāwhenسَمِعْتُمْsamiʿ'tumyou hearءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيُكْفَرُyuk'farubeing rejectedبِهَاbihā[it]وَيُسْتَهْزَأُwayus'tahza-uand ridiculedبِهَاbihāat [it]فَلَاfalāthen do notتَقْعُدُواtaqʿudūsitمَعَهُمْmaʿahumwith themحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَخُوضُواyakhūḍūthey engageفِيfīinحَدِيثٍḥadīthina conversationغَيْرِهِghayrihiother than thatإِنَّكُمْinnakumIndeed youإِذًاidhanthenمِثْلُهُمْmith'luhum(would be) like themإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahجَامِعُjāmiʿuwill gatherالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocritesوَالْكَافِرِينَwal-kāfirīnaand the disbelieversفِيfīinجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall together
141. 141الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَتَرَبَّصُونَyatarabbaṣūnaare waitingبِكُمْbikumfor youفَإِنْfa-inThen ifكَانَkānawasلَكُمْlakumfor youفَتْحٌfatḥuna victoryمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَالُواqālūthey sayأَلَمْalamWere notنَكُنْnakunweمَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youوَإِنْwa-inBut ifكَانَkāna(there) wasلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversنَصِيبٌnaṣībuna chanceقَالُواqālūthey saidأَلَمْalamDid notنَسْتَحْوِذْnastaḥwidhwe have advantageعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumover youوَنَمْنَعْكُمْwanamnaʿkumand we protected youمِنَminafromالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersفَاللَّهُfal-lahuAnd Allahيَحْكُمُyaḥkumuwill judgeبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionوَلَنْwalanand neverيَجْعَلَyajʿalawill makeاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَلَىʿalāoverالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
142. 142إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocritesيُخَادِعُونَyukhādiʿūna(seek to) deceiveاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَهُوَwahuwaand (it is) Heخَادِعُهُمْkhādiʿuhumwho deceives themوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenقَامُواqāmūthey standإِلَىilāforالصَّلَوةِl-ṣalatithe prayerقَامُواqāmūthey standكُسَالَىkusālālazilyيُرَاءُونَyurāūnashowing offالنَّاسَl-nāsa(to) the peopleوَلَاwalāand notيَذْكُرُونَyadhkurūnathey rememberاللَّهَl-lahaAllahإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana little
143. 143مُذَبْذَبِينَmudhabdhabīnaWaveringبَيْنَbaynabetweenذَلِكَdhālikathatلَاlānotإِلَىilātoهَؤُلَاءِhāulāitheseوَلَاwalāand notإِلَىilātoهَؤُلَاءِhāulāithoseوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُضْلِلِyuḍ'lilihas been lead astrayاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahفَلَنْfalanthen neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلَهُlahufor himسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
144. 144يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]لَاlā(Do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesمِنْminfromدُونِdūniinstead ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersأَتُرِيدُونَaturīdūnaDo you wishأَنْanthatتَجْعَلُواtajʿalūyou makeلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumagainst youسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanan evidenceمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
145. 145إِنَّinnaIndeedالْمُنَافِقِينَl-munāfiqīnathe hypocritesفِيfī(will be) inالدَّرْكِl-darkithe depthsالْأَسْفَلِl-asfalithe lowestمِنَminaofالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireوَلَنْwalanand neverتَجِدَtajidayou will findلَهُمْlahumfor themنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
146. 146إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَابُواtābūrepentوَأَصْلَحُواwa-aṣlaḥūand correct (themselves)وَاعْتَصَمُواwa-iʿ'taṣamūand hold fastبِاللَّهِbil-lahito Allahوَأَخْلَصُواwa-akhlaṣūand are sincereدِينَهُمْdīnahum(in) their religionلِلَّهِlillahifor Allahفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen those (will be)مَعَmaʿawithالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersوَسَوْفَwasawfaAnd soonيُؤْتِyu'tiwill be givenاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
147. 147مَاmāWhatيَفْعَلُyafʿaluwould doاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِعَذَابِكُمْbiʿadhābikumby punishing youإِنْinifشَكَرْتُمْshakartumyou are gratefulوَءَامَنْتُمْwaāmantumand you believeوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahشَاكِرًاshākiranAll-AppreciativeعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knowing
148. 148لَاlā(Does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالْجَهْرَl-jahrathe public mentionبِالسُّوءِbil-sūiof [the] evilمِنَmina[of]الْقَوْلِl-qawli[the] wordsإِلَّاillāexceptمَنْman(by the one) whoظُلِمَẓulimahas been wrongedوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahسَمِيعًاsamīʿanAll-HearingعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-Knowing
149. 149إِنْinIfتُبْدُواtub'dūyou discloseخَيْرًاkhayrana goodأَوْaworتُخْفُوهُtukh'fūhuyou conceal itأَوْaworتَعْفُواtaʿfūpardonعَنْʿan[of]سُوءٍsūinan evilفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahكَانَkānaisعَفُوًّاʿafuwwanOft-PardoningقَدِيرًاqadīranAll-Powerful
150. 150إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His Messengersوَيُرِيدُونَwayurīdūnaand they wishأَنْanthatيُفَرِّقُواyufarriqūthey differentiateبَيْنَbaynabetweenاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His Messengersوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaand they sayنُؤْمِنُnu'minuWe believeبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinin someوَنَكْفُرُwanakfuruand we disbelieveبِبَعْضٍbibaʿḍinin othersوَيُرِيدُونَwayurīdūnaAnd they wishأَنْanthatيَتَّخِذُواyattakhidhūthey takeبَيْنَbaynabetweenذَلِكَdhālikathatسَبِيلًاsabīlana way
151. 151أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseهُمُhumutheyالْكَافِرُونَl-kāfirūna(are) the disbelieversحَقًّاḥaqqantrulyوَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāAnd We have preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentمُهِينًاmuhīnanhumiliating
152. 152وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His Messengersوَلَمْwalamand notيُفَرِّقُواyufarriqūthey differentiateبَيْنَbaynabetweenأَحَدٍaḥadin(any) oneمِنْهُمْmin'humof themأُولَئِكَulāikathoseسَوْفَsawfasoonيُؤْتِيهِمْyu'tīhimHe will give themأُجُورَهُمْujūrahumtheir rewardوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahغَفُورًاghafūranOft-ForgivingرَحِيمًاraḥīmanMost Merciful
153. 153يَسْءَلُكَyasalukaAsk youأَهْلُahlu(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookأَنْanthatتُنَزِّلَtunazzilayou bring downعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themكِتَابًاkitābana bookمِنَminafromالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heavenفَقَدْfaqadThen indeedسَأَلُواsa-alūthey (had) askedمُوسَىmūsāMusaأَكْبَرَakbaragreaterمِنْminthanذَلِكَdhālikathatفَقَالُواfaqālūfor they saidأَرِنَاarināShow usاللَّهَl-lahaAllahجَهْرَةًjahratanmanifestlyفَأَخَذَتْهُمُfa-akhadhathumuso struck themالصَّاعِقَةُl-ṣāʿiqatuthe thunderboltبِظُلْمِهِمْbiẓul'mihimfor their wrongdoingثُمَّthummaThenاتَّخَذُواittakhadhūthey tookالْعِجْلَl-ʿij'lathe calf (for worship)مِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاmā[what]جَاءَتْهُمُjāathumucame to themالْبَيِّنَاتُl-bayinātuthe clear proofsفَعَفَوْنَاfaʿafawnāthen We forgave themعَنْʿanforذَلِكَdhālikathatوَءَاتَيْنَاwaātaynāAnd We gaveمُوسَىmūsāMusaسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanan authorityمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
154. 154وَرَفَعْنَاwarafaʿnāAnd We raisedفَوْقَهُمُfawqahumuover themالطُّورَl-ṭūrathe mountبِمِيثَاقِهِمْbimīthāqihimfor their covenantوَقُلْنَاwaqul'nāand We saidلَهُمُlahumuto themادْخُلُواud'khulūEnterالْبَابَl-bābathe gateسُجَّدًاsujjadanprostratingوَقُلْنَاwaqul'nāAnd We saidلَهُمْlahumto themلَاlā(Do) notتَعْدُواtaʿdūtransgressفِيfīinالسَّبْتِl-sabtithe Sabbathوَأَخَذْنَاwa-akhadhnāAnd We tookمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themمِيثَاقًاmīthāqana covenantغَلِيظًاghalīẓansolemn
155. 155فَبِمَاfabimāThen because ofنَقْضِهِمْnaqḍihimtheir breakingمِيثَاقَهُمْmīthāqahum(of) their covenantوَكُفْرِهِمْwakuf'rihimand their disbeliefبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Signsاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَقَتْلِهِمُwaqatlihimuand their killingالْأَنْبِيَاءَl-anbiyāa(of) the Prophetsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحَقٍّḥaqqinany rightوَقَوْلِهِمْwaqawlihimand their sayingقُلُوبُنَاqulūbunāOur heartsغُلْفٌghul'fun(are) wrappedبَلْbalNayطَبَعَṭabaʿa(has) set a sealاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāon their (hearts)بِكُفْرِهِمْbikuf'rihimfor their disbeliefفَلَاfalāso notيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnathey believeإِلَّاillāexceptقَلِيلًاqalīlana few
156. 156وَبِكُفْرِهِمْwabikuf'rihimAnd for their disbeliefوَقَوْلِهِمْwaqawlihimand their sayingعَلَىʿalāagainstمَرْيَمَmaryamaMaryamبُهْتَانًاbuh'tānana slanderعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
157. 157وَقَوْلِهِمْwaqawlihimAnd for their sayingإِنَّاinnāIndeed weقَتَلْنَاqatalnākilledالْمَسِيحَl-masīḥathe MessiahعِيسَىʿīsāIsaابْنَib'nasonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamرَسُولَrasūla(the) Messengerاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahوَمَاwamāAnd notقَتَلُوهُqatalūhuthey killed himوَمَاwamāand notصَلَبُوهُṣalabūhuthey crucified himوَلَكِنْwalākinbutشُبِّهَshubbihait was made to appear (so)لَهُمْlahumto themوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاخْتَلَفُواikh'talafūdifferفِيهِfīhiin itلَفِيlafī(are) surely inشَكٍّshakkindoubtمِنْهُmin'huabout itمَاmāNotلَهُمْlahumfor themبِهِbihiabout itمِنْmin[of]عِلْمٍʿil'min(any) knowledgeإِلَّاillāexceptاتِّبَاعَittibāʿa(the) followingالظَّنِّl-ẓani(of) assumptionوَمَاwamāAnd notقَتَلُوهُqatalūhuthey killed himيَقِينًاyaqīnancertainly
158. 158بَلْbalNayرَفَعَهُrafaʿahuhe was raisedاللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allahإِلَيْهِilayhitowards HimوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَزِيزًاʿazīzanAll-MightyحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
159. 159وَإِنْwa-inAnd (there is) notمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookإِلَّاillābutلَيُؤْمِنَنَّlayu'minannasurely he believesبِهِbihiin himقَبْلَqablabeforeمَوْتِهِmawtihihis deathوَيَوْمَwayawmaAnd (on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionيَكُونُyakūnuhe will beعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimagainst themشَهِيدًاshahīdana witness
160. 160فَبِظُلْمٍfabiẓul'minThen for (the) wrongdoingمِنَminaofالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoهَادُواhādūwere JewsحَرَّمْنَاḥarramnāWe made unlawfulعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimfor themطَيِّبَاتٍṭayyibātingood thingsأُحِلَّتْuḥillatwhich had been lawfulلَهُمْlahumfor themوَبِصَدِّهِمْwabiṣaddihimand for their hinderingعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahكَثِيرًاkathīranmany
161. 161وَأَخْذِهِمُwa-akhdhihimuAnd for their takingالرِّبَواl-riba(of) [the] usuryوَقَدْwaqadwhile certainlyنُهُواnuhūthey were forbiddenعَنْهُʿanhufrom itوَأَكْلِهِمْwa-aklihimand (for) their consumingأَمْوَالَamwālawealthالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) the peopleبِالْبَاطِلِbil-bāṭiliwrongfullyوَأَعْتَدْنَاwa-aʿtadnāAnd We have preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelieversمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themعَذَابًاʿadhābana punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainful
162. 162لَكِنِlākiniButالرَّاسِخُونَl-rāsikhūnathe ones who are firmفِيfīinالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mithe knowledgeمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَwal-mu'minūnaand the believersيُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnabelieveبِمَاbimāin whatأُنْزِلَunzila(is) revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youوَالْمُقِيمِينَwal-muqīmīnaAnd the ones who establishالصَّلَوةَl-ṣalatathe prayerوَالْمُؤْتُونَwal-mu'tūnaand the ones who giveالزَّكَوةَl-zakatathe zakahوَالْمُؤْمِنُونَwal-mu'minūnaand the ones who believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastأُولَئِكَulāikathoseسَنُؤْتِيهِمْsanu'tīhimWe will give themأَجْرًاajrana rewardعَظِيمًاʿaẓīmangreat
163. 163إِنَّاinnāIndeed, Weأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāhave revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youكَمَاkamāasأَوْحَيْنَاawḥaynāWe revealedإِلَىilātoنُوحٍnūḥinNuhوَالنَّبِيِّينَwal-nabiyīnaand the Prophetsمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter himوَأَوْحَيْنَاwa-awḥaynāand We revealedإِلَىilātoإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَإِسْمَاعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaand Ismailوَإِسْحَاقَwa-is'ḥāqaand Ishaqوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubوَالْأَسْبَاطِwal-asbāṭiand the tribesوَعِيسَىwaʿīsāand Isaوَأَيُّوبَwa-ayyūbaand Ayubوَيُونُسَwayūnusaand Yunusوَهَارُونَwahārūnaand Harunوَسُلَيْمَانَwasulaymānaand Sulaimanوَءَاتَيْنَاwaātaynāand We gaveدَاوُدَdāwūdaDawoodزَبُورًاzabūranthe Zaboor
164. 164وَرُسُلًاwarusulanAnd MessengersقَدْqadsurelyقَصَصْنَاهُمْqaṣaṣnāhumWe (have) mentioned themعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubeforeوَرُسُلًاwarusulanand Messengersلَمْlamnotنَقْصُصْهُمْnaqṣuṣ'humWe (have) mentioned themعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youوَكَلَّمَwakallamaAnd spokeاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمُوسَىmūsā(to) Musaتَكْلِيمًاtaklīman(in a) conversation
165. 165رُسُلًاrusulanMessengersمُبَشِّرِينَmubashirīnabearers of glad tidingsوَمُنْذِرِينَwamundhirīnaand warnersلِئَلَّاli-allāso that notيَكُونَyakūnathere isلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindعَلَىʿalāagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahحُجَّةٌḥujjatunany argumentبَعْدَbaʿdaafterالرُّسُلِl-rusulithe MessengersوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَزِيزًاʿazīzanAll-MightyحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
166. 166لَكِنِlākiniButاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَشْهَدُyashhadubears witnessبِمَاbimāto whatأَنْزَلَanzalaHe (has) revealedإِلَيْكَilaykato youأَنْزَلَهُanzalahuHe has sent it downبِعِلْمِهِbiʿil'mihiwith His Knowledgeوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuand the Angelsيَشْهَدُونَyashhadūnabear witnessوَكَفَىwakafāAnd is sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahشَهِيدًاshahīdan(as) a Witness
167. 167إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveوَصَدُّواwaṣaddūand hinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahقَدْqadsurelyضَلُّواḍallūthey have strayedضَلَالًاḍalālanstrayingبَعِيدًاbaʿīdanfar away
168. 168إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَظَلَمُواwaẓalamūand did wrongلَمْlamnotيَكُنِyakuniwillاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيَغْفِرَliyaghfira[to] forgiveلَهُمْlahumthemوَلَاwalāand notلِيَهْدِيَهُمْliyahdiyahumHe will guide themطَرِيقًاṭarīqan(to) a way
169. 169إِلَّاillāExceptطَرِيقَṭarīqa(the) wayجَهَنَّمَjahannama(to) Hellخَالِدِينَkhālidīnaabidingفِيهَاfīhāin itأَبَدًاabadanforeverوَكَانَwakānaAnd isذَلِكَdhālikathatعَلَىʿalāforاللَّهِl-lahiAllahيَسِيرًاyasīraneasy
170. 170يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّاسُl-nāsumankindقَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمُjāakumuhas come to youالرَّسُولُl-rasūluthe Messengerبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiwith the truthمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordفَءَامِنُواfaāminūso believeخَيْرًاkhayran(it is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youوَإِنْwa-inBut ifتَكْفُرُواtakfurūyou disbelieveفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedلِلَّهِlillahito Allah (belongs)مَاmāwhateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَكَانَwakānaAnd isاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلِيمًاʿalīmanAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاḥakīmanAll-Wise
171. 171يَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookلَاlā(Do) notتَغْلُواtaghlūcommit excessفِيfīinدِينِكُمْdīnikumyour religionوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَقُولُواtaqūlūsayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِلَّاillāexceptالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥuthe MessiahعِيسَىʿīsāIsaابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamرَسُولُrasūlu(was) a Messengerاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَكَلِمَتُهُwakalimatuhuand His wordأَلْقَاهَاalqāhāwhich He conveyedإِلَىilātoمَرْيَمَmaryamaMaryamوَرُوحٌwarūḥunand a spiritمِنْهُmin'hufrom HimفَءَامِنُواfaāminūSo believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His MessengersوَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَقُولُواtaqūlūsayثَلَاثَةٌthalāthatunThreeانْتَهُواintahūdesistخَيْرًاkhayran(it is) betterلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِلَهٌilāhun(is) GodوَاحِدٌwāḥidunOneسُبْحَانَهُsub'ḥānahuGlory be to HimأَنْanThatيَكُونَyakūnaHe (should) haveلَهُlahufor Himوَلَدٌwaladuna sonلَهُlahuTo Him (belongs)مَاmāwhateverفِيfī(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِيfī(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَكَفَىwakafāAnd is sufficientبِاللَّهِbil-lahiAllahوَكِيلًاwakīlan(as) a Disposer of affairs
172. 172لَنْlanNeverيَسْتَنْكِفَyastankifawill disdainالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥuthe Messiahأَنْantoيَكُونَyakūnabeعَبْدًاʿabdana slaveلِلَّهِlillahiof Allahوَلَاwalāand notالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsالْمُقَرَّبُونَl-muqarabūnathe ones who are near (to Allah)وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَسْتَنْكِفْyastankifdisdainsعَنْʿanfromعِبَادَتِهِʿibādatihiHis worshipوَيَسْتَكْبِرْwayastakbirand is arrogantفَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْfasayaḥshuruhumthen He will gather themإِلَيْهِilayhitowards Himجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall together
173. 173فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedوَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deedsفَيُوَفِّيهِمْfayuwaffīhimthen He will give them in fullأُجُورَهُمْujūrahumtheir rewardوَيَزِيدُهُمْwayazīduhumand give them moreمِنْminfromفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاسْتَنْكَفُواis'tankafūdisdainedوَاسْتَكْبَرُواwa-is'takbarūand were arrogantفَيُعَذِّبُهُمْfayuʿadhibuhumthen He will punish themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاalīmanpainfulوَلَاwalāand notيَجِدُونَyajidūnawill they findلَهُمْlahumfor themselvesمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلِيًّاwaliyyanany protectorوَلَاwalāand notنَصِيرًاnaṣīranany helper
174. 174يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāOالنَّاسُl-nāsumankindقَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumhas come to youبُرْهَانٌbur'hānuna convincing proofمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَأَنْزَلْنَاwa-anzalnāand We (have) sent downإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youنُورًاnūrana lightمُبِينًاmubīnanclear
175. 175فَأَمَّاfa-ammāSo as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelievedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَاعْتَصَمُواwa-iʿ'taṣamūand held fastبِهِbihito Himفَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْfasayud'khiluhumthen He will admit themفِيfīinرَحْمَةٍraḥmatinMercyمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himselfوَفَضْلٍwafaḍlinand Bountyوَيَهْدِيهِمْwayahdīhimand will guide themإِلَيْهِilayhito Himselfصِرَاطًاṣirāṭan(on) a wayمُسْتَقِيمًاmus'taqīmanstraight
176. 176يَسْتَفْتُونَكَyastaftūnakaThey seek your rulingقُلِquliSayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُفْتِيكُمْyuf'tīkumgives you a rulingفِيfīconcerningالْكَلَالَةِl-kalālatithe Kalalaإِنِiniifامْرُؤٌاim'ru-ona manهَلَكَhalakadiedلَيْسَlaysa(and) notلَهُlahuhe hasوَلَدٌwaladuna childوَلَهُwalahuand he hasأُخْتٌukh'tuna sisterفَلَهَاfalahāthen for herنِصْفُniṣ'fu(is) a halfمَاmā(of) whatتَرَكَtarakahe leftوَهُوَwahuwaAnd heيَرِثُهَاyarithuhāwill inherit from herإِنْinifلَمْlamnotيَكُنْyakunisلَهَاlahāfor herوَلَدٌwaladuna childفَإِنْfa-inBut ifكَانَتَاkānatāthere wereاثْنَتَيْنِith'nataynitwo femalesفَلَهُمَاfalahumāthen for themالثُّلُثَانِl-thuluthānitwo thirdsمِمَّاmimmāof whatتَرَكَtarakahe leftوَإِنْwa-inBut ifكَانُواkānūthey wereإِخْوَةًikh'watanbrothers and sistersرِجَالًاrijālanmenوَنِسَاءًwanisāanand womenفَلِلذَّكَرِfalildhakarithen the male will haveمِثْلُmith'lulikeحَظِّḥaẓẓishareالْأُنْثَيَيْنِl-unthayayni(of) the two femalesيُبَيِّنُyubayyinumakes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَكُمْlakumto youأَنْanlestتَضِلُّواtaḍillūyou go astrayوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِكُلِّbikulliof everyشَيْءٍshayinthingعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
