Surah 3 — Aal-i-Imraan

  2. 2اللَّهُal-lahuAllahلَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhaGodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimالْحَيُّl-ḥayuthe Ever-Livingالْقَيُّومُl-qayūmuthe Sustainer of all that exists
  3. 3نَزَّلَnazzalaHe revealedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin [the] truthمُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqanconfirmingلِمَاlimāthat whichبَيْنَbayna(was)يَدَيْهِyadayhibefore itوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaand He revealedالتَّوْرَاةَl-tawrātathe Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeel
  4. 4مِنْminFromقَبْلُqablubefore (this)هُدًىhudan(as) guidanceلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindوَأَنْزَلَwa-anzalaAnd (He) revealedالْفُرْقَانَl-fur'qānathe CriterionإِنَّinnaVerilyالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]بِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentشَدِيدٌshadīdunsevereوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-MightyذُوdhūAll-Ableانْتِقَامٍintiqāmin(of) retribution
  5. 5إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَاnotيَخْفَىyakhfāis hiddenعَلَيْهِʿalayhifrom Himشَيْءٌshayonanythingفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَلَاwalāand notفِيinالسَّمَاءِl-samāithe heaven
  6. 6هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoيُصَوِّرُكُمْyuṣawwirukumshapes youفِيinالْأَرْحَامِl-arḥāmithe wombsكَيْفَkayfahow(ever)يَشَاءُyashāuHe willsلَا(There is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  7. 7هُوَhuwaHeالَّذِيalladhī(is) the One Whoأَنْزَلَanzalarevealedعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمِنْهُmin'huof itءَايَاتٌāyātun(are) Versesمُحْكَمَاتٌmuḥ'kamātunabsolutely clearهُنَّhunnathey (are)أُمُّummuthe foundationالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookوَأُخَرُwa-ukharuand othersمُتَشَابِهَاتٌmutashābihātun(are) allegoricalفَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathoseفِيinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsزَيْغٌzayghun(is) perversityفَيَتَّبِعُونَfayattabiʿūna[so] they followمَاwhatتَشَابَهَtashābaha(is) allegoricalمِنْهُmin'huof itابْتِغَاءَib'tighāaseekingالْفِتْنَةِl-fit'nati[the] discordوَابْتِغَاءَwa-ib'tighāaand seekingتَأْوِيلِهِtawīlihiits interpretationوَمَاwamāAnd notيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsتَأْوِيلَهُtawīlahuits interpretationإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَالرَّاسِخُونَwal-rāsikhūnaAnd those firmفِيinالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mi[the] knowledgeيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeبِهِbihiin itكُلٌّkullunAllمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromرَبِّنَاrabbināour LordوَمَاwamāAnd notيَذَّكَّرُyadhakkaruwill take heedإِلَّاillāexceptأُولُواulūmenالْأَلْبَابِl-albābi(of) understanding
  8. 8رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!لَا(Do) notتُزِغْtuzighdeviateقُلُوبَنَاqulūbanāour heartsبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]هَدَيْتَنَاhadaytanāYou (have) guided usوَهَبْwahaband grantلَنَاlanā(for) usمِنْminfromلَدُنْكَladunkaYourselfرَحْمَةًraḥmatanmercyإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouأَنْتَantaYouالْوَهَّابُl-wahābu(are) the Bestower
  9. 9رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!إِنَّكَinnakaIndeed Youجَامِعُjāmiʿuwill gatherالنَّاسِl-nāsi[the] mankindلِيَوْمٍliyawminon a Dayلَا(there is) noرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهِfīhiin itإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيُخْلِفُyukh'lifubreakالْمِيعَادَl-mīʿādathe Promise
  10. 10إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]لَنْlanneverتُغْنِيَtugh'niyawill availعَنْهُمْʿanhum[for] themأَمْوَالُهُمْamwāluhumtheir wealthوَلَاwalāand notأَوْلَادُهُمْawlāduhumtheir childrenمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَيْئًاshayananythingوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseهُمْhumthey (are)وَقُودُwaqūdu(the) fuelالنَّارِl-nāri(for) the Fire
  11. 11كَدَأْبِkadabiLike behaviorءَالِāli(of the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَfir'ʿawna(of) Firaunوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoمِنْmin(were) fromقَبْلِهِمْqablihimbefore themكَذَّبُواkadhabūThey deniedبِءَايَاتِنَاbiāyātināOur Signsفَأَخَذَهُمُfa-akhadhahumuso seized themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِذُنُوبِهِمْbidhunūbihimfor their sinsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahشَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severeالْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) [the] punishment
  12. 12قُلْqulSayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]سَتُغْلَبُونَsatugh'labūnaYou will be overcomeوَتُحْشَرُونَwatuḥ'sharūnaand you will be gatheredإِلَىilātoجَهَنَّمَjahannamaHellوَبِئْسَwabi'sa[and] an evilالْمِهَادُl-mihādu[the] resting place
  13. 13قَدْqadSurelyكَانَkānait wasلَكُمْlakumfor youءَايَةٌāyatuna signفِيinفِئَتَيْنِfi-atayni(the) two hostsالْتَقَتَاl-taqatāwhich metفِئَةٌfi-atunone groupتُقَاتِلُtuqātilufightingفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأُخْرَىwa-ukh'rāand anotherكَافِرَةٌkāfiratundisbelieversيَرَوْنَهُمْyarawnahumThey were seeing themمِثْلَيْهِمْmith'layhimtwice of themرَأْيَrayawith the sightالْعَيْنِl-ʿayni(of) their eyesوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُؤَيِّدُyu-ayyidusupportsبِنَصْرِهِbinaṣrihiwith His helpمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَعِبْرَةًlaʿib'ratansurely (is) a lessonلِأُولِيli-ulīfor the ownersالْأَبْصَارِl-abṣāri(of) vision
  14. 14زُيِّنَzuyyina[It is] beautifiedلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor mankindحُبُّḥubbu(is) loveالشَّهَوَاتِl-shahawāti(of) the (things they) desireمِنَminaofالنِّسَاءِl-nisāi[the] womenوَالْبَنِينَwal-banīnaand [the] sonsوَالْقَنَاطِيرِwal-qanāṭīriand [the] heapsالْمُقَنْطَرَةِl-muqanṭarati[the] stored upمِنَminaofالذَّهَبِl-dhahabi[the] goldوَالْفِضَّةِwal-fiḍatiand [the] silverوَالْخَيْلِwal-khayliand [the] horsesالْمُسَوَّمَةِl-musawamati[the] brandedوَالْأَنْعَامِwal-anʿāmiand [the] cattleوَالْحَرْثِwal-ḥarthiand [the] tilled landذَلِكَdhālikaThatمَتَاعُmatāʿu(is) provisionالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati(of) lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldوَاللَّهُwal-lahubut Allahعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith Himحُسْنُḥus'nu(is an) excellentالْمَءَابِl-maābi[the] abode to return
  15. 15قُلْqulSayأَؤُنَبِّئُكُمْa-unabbi-ukumShall I inform youبِخَيْرٍbikhayrinof betterمِنْminthanذَلِكُمْdhālikumthatلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnaFor those whoاتَّقَوْاittaqawfear[ed]عِنْدَʿindawithرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordجَنَّاتٌjannātun(are) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāru[the] riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَأَزْوَاجٌwa-azwājunand spousesمُطَهَّرَةٌmuṭahharatunpureوَرِضْوَانٌwariḍ'wānunand approvalمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seerبِالْعِبَادِbil-ʿibādiof (His) slaves
  16. 16الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lord!إِنَّنَاinnanāIndeed weءَامَنَّاāmannā(have) believedفَاغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgiveلَنَاlanāfor usذُنُوبَنَاdhunūbanāour sinsوَقِنَاwaqināand save usعَذَابَʿadhāba(from) punishmentالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire
  17. 17الصَّابِرِينَal-ṣābirīnaThe patientوَالصَّادِقِينَwal-ṣādiqīnaand the truthfulوَالْقَانِتِينَwal-qānitīnaand the obedientوَالْمُنْفِقِينَwal-munfiqīnaand those who spendوَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَwal-mus'taghfirīnaand those who seek forgivenessبِالْأَسْحَارِbil-asḥāri[in the] before dawn
  18. 18شَهِدَshahidaBears witnessاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَنَّهُannahuthat [He]لَا(there is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimوَالْمَلَائِكَةُwal-malāikatuand (so do) the Angelsوَأُولُواwa-ulūand ownersالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mi(of) [the] knowledgeقَائِمًاqāimanstandingبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭiin justiceلَا(There is) noإِلَهَilāhagodإِلَّاillāexceptهُوَhuwaHimالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzuthe All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  19. 19إِنَّinnaIndeedالدِّينَl-dīnathe religionعِنْدَʿindanearاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْإِسْلَامُl-is'lāmu(is) IslamوَمَاwamāAnd notاخْتَلَفَikh'talafadifferedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookإِلَّاillāexceptمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَا[what]جَاءَهُمُjāahumucame to themالْعِلْمُl-ʿil'mu[the] knowledgeبَغْيًاbaghyanout of envyبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumamong themوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَكْفُرْyakfurdisbelievesبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in taking) account
  20. 20فَإِنْfa-inThen ifحَاجُّوكَḥājjūkathey argue with youفَقُلْfaqulthen sayأَسْلَمْتُaslamtuI have submittedوَجْهِيَwajhiyamyselfلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَمَنِwamaniand (those) whoاتَّبَعَنِittabaʿanifollow meوَقُلْwaqulAnd sayلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnato those whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْأُمِّيِّينَwal-umiyīnaand the unlettered peopleءَأَسْلَمْتُمْa-aslamtumHave you submitted yourselvesفَإِنْfa-inThen ifأَسْلَمُواaslamūthey submitفَقَدِfaqadithen surelyاهْتَدَوْاih'tadawthey are guidedوَإِنْwa-inBut ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn backفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyعَلَيْكَʿalaykaon youالْبَلَاغُl-balāghu(is) to [the] conveyوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seerبِالْعِبَادِbil-ʿibādiof [His] slaves
  21. 21إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Signs (of)اللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَيَقْتُلُونَwayaqtulūnaand they killالنَّبِيِّينَl-nabiyīnathe Prophetsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحَقٍّḥaqqinrightوَيَقْتُلُونَwayaqtulūnaand they killالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَأْمُرُونَyamurūnaorderبِالْقِسْطِbil-qis'ṭi[with] justiceمِنَminaamongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleفَبَشِّرْهُمْfabashir'humthen give them tidingsبِعَذَابٍbiʿadhābinof a punishmentأَلِيمٍalīminpainful
  22. 22أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseالَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones whoحَبِطَتْḥabiṭatbecame worthlessأَعْمَالُهُمْaʿmāluhumtheir deedsفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand (in) the HereafterوَمَاwamāAnd notلَهُمْlahum(will be) for themمِنْminanyنَاصِرِينَnāṣirīnahelpers
  23. 23أَلَمْalamHave notتَرَtarayou seenإِلَىilā[to]الَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenنَصِيبًاnaṣībana portionمِنَminaofالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Scriptureيُدْعَوْنَyud'ʿawnaThey are invitedإِلَىilātoكِتَابِkitābi(the) Bookاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahلِيَحْكُمَliyaḥkumathat (it should) arbitrateبَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween themثُمَّthummathenيَتَوَلَّىyatawallāturns awayفَرِيقٌfarīquna partyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themوَهُمْwahumand they (are)مُعْرِضُونَmuʿ'riḍūnathose who are averse
  24. 24ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَالُواqālūsayلَنْlanNeverتَمَسَّنَاtamassanāwill touch usالنَّارُl-nāruthe Fireإِلَّاillāexceptأَيَّامًاayyāman(for) daysمَعْدُودَاتٍmaʿdūdātinnumberedوَغَرَّهُمْwagharrahumAnd deceived themفِيinدِينِهِمْdīnihimtheir religionمَاwhatكَانُواkānūthey wereيَفْتَرُونَyaftarūnainventing
  25. 25فَكَيْفَfakayfaThen how (will it be)إِذَاidhāwhenجَمَعْنَاهُمْjamaʿnāhumWe will gather themلِيَوْمٍliyawminon a Dayلَاnoرَيْبَraybadoubtفِيهِfīhiin itوَوُفِّيَتْwawuffiyatAnd will be paid in fullكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulمَاwhatكَسَبَتْkasabatit earnedوَهُمْwahumand theyلَا(will) notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnabe wronged
  26. 26قُلِquliSayاللَّهُمَّl-lahumaO Allah!مَالِكَmālikaOwnerالْمُلْكِl-mul'ki(of) the Dominionتُؤْتِيtu'tīYou giveالْمُلْكَl-mul'kathe dominionمَنْman(to) whomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willوَتَنْزِعُwatanziʿuand You take awayالْمُلْكَl-mul'kathe dominionمِمَّنْmimmanfrom whomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willوَتُعِزُّwatuʿizzuand You honorمَنْmanwhomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willوَتُذِلُّwatudhilluand You humiliateمَنْmanwhomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willبِيَدِكَbiyadikaIn Your handالْخَيْرُl-khayru(is all) the goodإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed Youعَلَىʿalā(are) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  27. 27تُولِجُtūlijuYou cause to enterاللَّيْلَal-laylathe nightفِيinالنَّهَارِl-nahārithe dayوَتُولِجُwatūlijuand You cause to enterالنَّهَارَl-nahārathe dayفِيinاللَّيْلِal-laylithe nightوَتُخْرِجُwatukh'rijuand You bring forthالْحَيَّl-ḥayathe livingمِنَminafromالْمَيِّتِl-mayitithe deadوَتُخْرِجُwatukh'rijuand You bring forthالْمَيِّتَl-mayitathe deadمِنَminafromالْحَيِّl-ḥayithe livingوَتَرْزُقُwatarzuquand You give provisionمَنْman(to) whomتَشَاءُtashāuYou willبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحِسَابٍḥisābinmeasure
  28. 28لَا(Let) notيَتَّخِذِyattakhidhitakeالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believersالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieversأَوْلِيَاءَawliyāa(as) alliesمِنْminfromدُونِdūniinstead ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَفْعَلْyafʿaldoesذَلِكَdhālikathatفَلَيْسَfalaysathen not he (has)مِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفِي[in]شَيْءٍshayinanythingإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatتَتَّقُواtattaqūyou fearمِنْهُمْmin'humfrom themتُقَاةًtuqātan(as) a precautionوَيُحَذِّرُكُمُwayuḥadhirukumuAnd warns youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahنَفْسَهُnafsahu(of) Himselfوَإِلَىwa-ilāand toاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination
  29. 29قُلْqulSayإِنْinWhetherتُخْفُواtukh'fūyou concealمَاwhatفِي(is) inصُدُورِكُمْṣudūrikumyour breastsأَوْaworتُبْدُوهُtub'dūhuyou disclose itيَعْلَمْهُyaʿlamhuknows itاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَيَعْلَمُwayaʿlamuAnd He knowsمَاwhatفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whatفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  30. 30يَوْمَyawma(On the) dayتَجِدُtajiduwill findكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulمَاwhatعَمِلَتْʿamilatit didمِنْminofخَيْرٍkhayringoodمُحْضَرًاmuḥ'ḍaranpresentedوَمَاwamāand whatعَمِلَتْʿamilatit didمِنْminofسُوءٍsūinevilتَوَدُّtawadduit will wishلَوْlaw[if]أَنَّannathatبَيْنَهَاbaynahābetween itselfوَبَيْنَهُwabaynahuand between it (evil)أَمَدًاamadan(was) a distanceبَعِيدًاbaʿīdangreatوَيُحَذِّرُكُمُwayuḥadhirukumuAnd warns youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahنَفْسَهُnafsahu(against) Himselfوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahرَءُوفٌraūfun(is) Most Kindبِالْعِبَادِbil-ʿibādito (His) [the] slaves
  31. 31قُلْqulSayإِنْinIfكُنْتُمْkuntumyouتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnaloveاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَاتَّبِعُونِيfa-ittabiʿūnīthen follow meيُحْبِبْكُمُyuḥ'bib'kumuwill love youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَيَغْفِرْwayaghfirand He will forgiveلَكُمْlakumfor youذُنُوبَكُمْdhunūbakumyour sinsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  32. 32قُلْqulSayأَطِيعُواaṭīʿūObeyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَالرَّسُولَwal-rasūlaand the Messengerفَإِنْfa-inThen ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn awayفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  33. 33إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahاصْطَفَىiṣ'ṭafāchoseءَادَمَādamaAdamوَنُوحًاwanūḥanand Nuhوَءَالَwaālaand (the) familyإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimوَءَالَwaālaand (the) familyعِمْرَانَʿim'rāna(of) Imranعَلَىʿalāoverالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
  34. 34ذُرِّيَّةًdhurriyyatanDescendentsبَعْضُهَاbaʿḍuhāsome of themمِنْminfromبَعْضٍbaʿḍinothersوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
  35. 35إِذْidhWhenقَالَتِqālati[she] saidامْرَأَتُim'ra-atu(the) wifeعِمْرَانَʿim'rāna(of) ImranرَبِّrabbiMy Lord!إِنِّيinnīIndeed Iنَذَرْتُnadhartu[I] vowedلَكَlakato Youمَاwhatفِي(is) inبَطْنِيbaṭnīmy wombمُحَرَّرًاmuḥarrarandedicatedفَتَقَبَّلْfataqabbalso acceptمِنِّيminnīfrom meإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed YouأَنْتَantaYouالسَّمِيعُl-samīʿu(are) the All-Hearingالْعَلِيمُl-ʿalīmuthe All-Knowing
  36. 36فَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenوَضَعَتْهَاwaḍaʿathāshe delivered herقَالَتْqālatshe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordإِنِّيinnīindeed Iوَضَعْتُهَاwaḍaʿtuhā[I] (have) delivered [her]أُنْثَىunthāa femaleوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows betterبِمَاbimā[of] whatوَضَعَتْwaḍaʿatshe deliveredوَلَيْسَwalaysaand is notالذَّكَرُl-dhakaruthe maleكَالْأُنْثَىkal-unthālike the femaleوَإِنِّيwa-innīAnd that Iسَمَّيْتُهَاsammaytuhā[I] (have) named herمَرْيَمَmaryamaMaryamوَإِنِّيwa-innīand that Iأُعِيذُهَاuʿīdhuhā[I] seek refuge for herبِكَbikain Youوَذُرِّيَّتَهَاwadhurriyyatahāand her offspringمِنَminafromالشَّيْطَانِl-shayṭānithe Shaitaanالرَّجِيمِl-rajīmithe rejected
  37. 37فَتَقَبَّلَهَاfataqabbalahāSo accepted herرَبُّهَاrabbuhāher Lordبِقَبُولٍbiqabūlinwith acceptanceحَسَنٍḥasaningoodوَأَنْبَتَهَاwa-anbatahāand made her growنَبَاتًاnabātana growingحَسَنًاḥasanangoodوَكَفَّلَهَاwakaffalahāand put her in (the) careزَكَرِيَّاzakariyyā(of) ZakariyaكُلَّمَاkullamāWheneverدَخَلَdakhalaenteredعَلَيْهَاʿalayhāupon herزَكَرِيَّاzakariyyāZakariyaالْمِحْرَابَl-miḥ'rāba[the] prayer chamberوَجَدَwajadahe foundعِنْدَهَاʿindahāwith herرِزْقًاriz'qanprovisionقَالَqālaHe saidيَامَرْيَمُyāmaryamuO MaryamأَنَّىannāFrom whereلَكِlakifor youهَذَاhādhā(is) thisقَالَتْqālatShe saidهُوَhuwaThisمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَرْزُقُyarzuqugives provisionمَنْman(to) whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحِسَابٍḥisābinmeasure
  38. 38هُنَالِكَhunālikaThere onlyدَعَاdaʿāinvokedزَكَرِيَّاzakariyyāZakariyaرَبَّهُrabbahuhis Lordقَالَqālahe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordهَبْhabgrantلِي[for] meمِنْminfromلَدُنْكَladunkaYourselfذُرِّيَّةًdhurriyyatanoffspringطَيِّبَةًṭayyibatanpureإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed, Youسَمِيعُsamīʿu(are) All-Hearerالدُّعَاءِl-duʿāi(of) the prayer
  39. 39فَنَادَتْهُfanādathuThen called himالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe Angelsوَهُوَwahuwawhen heقَائِمٌqāimun(was) standingيُصَلِّيyuṣallīprayingفِيinالْمِحْرَابِl-miḥ'rābithe prayer chamberأَنَّannaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُبَشِّرُكَyubashirukagives you glad tidingsبِيَحْيَىbiyaḥyāof Yahyaمُصَدِّقًاmuṣaddiqanconfirmingبِكَلِمَةٍbikalimatin[of] a Wordمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَسَيِّدًاwasayyidanand a nobleوَحَصُورًاwaḥaṣūranand chasteوَنَبِيًّاwanabiyyanand a Prophetمِنَminaamongالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
  40. 40قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordأَنَّىannāhowيَكُونُyakūnucan (there) beلِيfor meغُلَامٌghulāmuna sonوَقَدْwaqadand verilyبَلَغَنِيَbalaghaniyahas reached meالْكِبَرُl-kibaru[the] old ageوَامْرَأَتِيwa-im'ra-atīand my wifeعَاقِرٌʿāqirun(is) [a] barrenقَالَqālaHe saidكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَفْعَلُyafʿaludoesمَاwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe wills
  41. 41قَالَqālaHe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordاجْعَلْij'ʿalmakeلِيfor meءَايَةًāyatana signقَالَqālaHe saidءَايَتُكَāyatukayour signأَلَّاallā(is) that notتُكَلِّمَtukallimayou will speakالنَّاسَl-nāsa(to) the peopleثَلَاثَةَthalāthata(for) threeأَيَّامٍayyāmindaysإِلَّاillāexceptرَمْزًاramzan(with) gesturesوَاذْكُرْwa-udh'kurAnd rememberرَبَّكَrabbakayour Lordكَثِيرًاkathīranmuchوَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥand glorify (Him)بِالْعَشِيِّbil-ʿashiyiin the eveningوَالْإِبْكَارِwal-ib'kāriand (in) the morning
  42. 42وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenقَالَتِqālatisaidالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe AngelsيَامَرْيَمُyāmaryamuO Maryam!إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahاصْطَفَاكِiṣ'ṭafāki(has) chosen youوَطَهَّرَكِwaṭahharakiand purified youوَاصْطَفَاكِwa-iṣ'ṭafākiand chosen youعَلَىʿalāoverنِسَاءِnisāi(the) womenالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds
  43. 43يَامَرْيَمُyāmaryamuO Maryam!اقْنُتِيuq'nutīBe obedientلِرَبِّكِlirabbikito your Lordوَاسْجُدِيwa-us'judīand prostrateوَارْكَعِيwa-ir'kaʿīand bow downمَعَmaʿawithالرَّاكِعِينَl-rākiʿīnathose who bow down
  44. 44ذَلِكَdhālikaThatمِنْmin(is) fromأَنْبَاءِanbāi(the) newsالْغَيْبِl-ghaybi(of) the unseenنُوحِيهِnūḥīhiWe reveal itإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمَاwamāAnd notكُنْتَkuntayou wereلَدَيْهِمْladayhimwith themإِذْidhwhenيُلْقُونَyul'qūnathey castأَقْلَامَهُمْaqlāmahumtheir pensأَيُّهُمْayyuhum(as to) which of themيَكْفُلُyakfulutakes charge (of)مَرْيَمَmaryamaMaryamوَمَاwamāand notكُنْتَkuntayou wereلَدَيْهِمْladayhimwith themإِذْidhwhenيَخْتَصِمُونَyakhtaṣimūnathey (were) disputing
  45. 45إِذْidhWhenقَالَتِqālatisaidالْمَلَائِكَةُl-malāikatuthe AngelsيَامَرْيَمُyāmaryamuO Maryam!إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُبَشِّرُكِyubashirukigives you glad tidingsبِكَلِمَةٍbikalimatinof a wordمِنْهُmin'hufrom Himاسْمُهُus'muhuhis nameالْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the MessiahعِيسَىʿīsāIsaابْنُub'nusonمَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryamوَجِيهًاwajīhanhonoredفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand (in) the Hereafterوَمِنَwaminaand ofالْمُقَرَّبِينَl-muqarabīnathose brought near (to Allah)
  46. 46وَيُكَلِّمُwayukallimuAnd he will speakالنَّاسَl-nāsa(to) the peopleفِيinالْمَهْدِl-mahdithe cradleوَكَهْلًاwakahlanand (in) maturityوَمِنَwaminaand (he will be) ofالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
  47. 47قَالَتْqālatShe saidرَبِّrabbiMy Lordأَنَّىannāhowيَكُونُyakūnuis [it]لِيfor meوَلَدٌwaladuna boyوَلَمْwalamand (has) notيَمْسَسْنِيyamsasnītouch(ed) meبَشَرٌbasharunany manقَالَqālaHe saidكَذَلِكِkadhālikiThusاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَخْلُقُyakhluqucreatesمَاwhatيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsإِذَاidhāWhenقَضَىqaḍāHe decreesأَمْرًاamrana matterفَإِنَّمَاfa-innamāthen onlyيَقُولُyaqūluHe saysلَهُlahuto itكُنْkunBeفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it becomes
  48. 48وَيُعَلِّمُهُwayuʿallimuhuAnd He will teach himالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand [the] wisdomوَالتَّوْرَاةَwal-tawrātaand the Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeel
  49. 49وَرَسُولًاwarasūlanAnd (make him) a Messengerإِلَىilātoبَنِيbanī(the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) IsraelأَنِّيannīIndeed Iقَدْqad[surely]جِئْتُكُمْji'tukum[I] (have) come (to) youبِءَايَةٍbiāyatinwith a signمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordأَنِّيannīthat Iأَخْلُقُakhluqu[I] designلَكُمْlakumfor youمِنَminafromالطِّينِl-ṭīni[the] clayكَهَيْئَةِkahayatilike (the) formالطَّيْرِl-ṭayri(of) the birdفَأَنْفُخُfa-anfukhuthen I breathفِيهِfīhiinto itفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand it becomesطَيْرًاṭayrana birdبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأُبْرِئُwa-ub'ri-uAnd I cureالْأَكْمَهَl-akmahathe blindوَالْأَبْرَصَwal-abraṣaand the leperوَأُحْيِيwa-uḥ'yīand I give lifeالْمَوْتَىl-mawtā(to) the deadبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأُنَبِّئُكُمْwa-unabbi-ukumAnd I inform youبِمَاbimāof whatتَأْكُلُونَtakulūnayou eatوَمَاwamāand whatتَدَّخِرُونَtaddakhirūnayou storeفِيinبُيُوتِكُمْbuyūtikumyour housesإِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinذَلِكَdhālikathatلَءَايَةًlaāyatan(is) surely a signلَكُمْlakumfor youإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  50. 50وَمُصَدِّقًاwamuṣaddiqanAnd confirmingلِمَاlimāthat whichبَيْنَbayna(was)يَدَيَّyadayyabefore meمِنَminaofالتَّوْرَاةِl-tawrātithe Tauratوَلِأُحِلَّwali-uḥillaand so that I make lawfulلَكُمْlakumfor youبَعْضَbaʿḍasomeالَّذِيalladhī(of) that whichحُرِّمَḥurrimawas forbiddenعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumto youوَجِئْتُكُمْwaji'tukumAnd I (have) come to youبِءَايَةٍbiāyatinwith a signمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordفَاتَّقُواfa-ittaqūSo fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me
  51. 51إِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahرَبِّيrabbī(is) my Lordوَرَبُّكُمْwarabbukumand your Lordفَاعْبُدُوهُfa-uʿ'budūhuso worship HimهَذَاhādhāThisصِرَاطٌṣirāṭun(is) the pathمُسْتَقِيمٌmus'taqīmunstraight
  52. 52فَلَمَّاfalammāThen whenأَحَسَّaḥassaperceivedعِيسَىʿīsāIsaمِنْهُمُmin'humufrom themالْكُفْرَl-kuf'ra[the] disbeliefقَالَqālahe saidمَنْmanWhoأَنْصَارِيanṣārī(will be) my helpersإِلَىilātoاللَّهِl-lahiAllahقَالَqālaSaidالْحَوَارِيُّونَl-ḥawāriyūnathe disciplesنَحْنُnaḥnuWeأَنْصَارُanṣāru(will be the) helpersاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believe[d]بِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَاشْهَدْwa-ish'hadand bear witnessبِأَنَّاbi-annāthat weمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) Muslims
  53. 53رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believe[d]بِمَاbimāin whatأَنْزَلْتَanzaltaYou revealedوَاتَّبَعْنَاwa-ittabaʿnāand we follow[ed]الرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerفَاكْتُبْنَاfa-uk'tub'nāthen write usمَعَmaʿaamongالشَّاهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
  54. 54وَمَكَرُواwamakarūAnd they schemedوَمَكَرَwamakaraand plannedاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahخَيْرُkhayru(is the) bestالْمَاكِرِينَl-mākirīna(of) the planners
  55. 55إِذْidhWhenقَالَqālasaidاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيَاعِيسَىyāʿīsāO IsaإِنِّيinnīIndeed, Iمُتَوَفِّيكَmutawaffīka(will) take youوَرَافِعُكَwarāfiʿukaand raise youإِلَيَّilayyato Myselfوَمُطَهِّرُكَwamuṭahhirukaand purify youمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]وَجَاعِلُwajāʿiluand I will makeالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّبَعُوكَittabaʿūkafollow[ed] youفَوْقَfawqasuperiorالَّذِينَalladhīna(to) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]إِلَىilāonيَوْمِyawmi(the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] ResurrectionثُمَّthummaThenإِلَيَّilayyato Meمَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukum(is) your returnفَأَحْكُمُfa-aḥkumuand I will judgeبَيْنَكُمْbaynakumbetween youفِيمَاfīmāabout whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereفِيهِfīhi[in it]تَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffering
  56. 56فَأَمَّاfa-ammāThen as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]فَأُعَذِّبُهُمْfa-uʿadhibuhumthen I will punish themعَذَابًاʿadhāban(with) a punishmentشَدِيدًاshadīdansevereفِيinالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَالْءَاخِرَةِwal-ākhiratiand (in) the HereafterوَمَاwamāAnd notلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْmin[of]نَاصِرِينَnāṣirīna(any) helpers
  57. 57وَأَمَّاwa-ammāAnd as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَعَمِلُواwaʿamilūand didالصَّالِحَاتِl-ṣāliḥāti[the] righteous deedsفَيُوَفِّيهِمْfayuwaffīhimthen He will grant them in fullأُجُورَهُمْujūrahumtheir rewardوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  58. 58ذَلِكَdhālikaThatنَتْلُوهُnatlūhu(is what) We recite [it]عَلَيْكَʿalaykato youمِنَminaofالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesوَالذِّكْرِwal-dhik'riand the Reminderالْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmi[the] Wise
  59. 59إِنَّinnaIndeedمَثَلَmathala(the) likenessعِيسَىʿīsā(of) Isaعِنْدَʿindanearاللَّهِl-lahiAllahكَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) likenessءَادَمَādama(of) AdamخَلَقَهُkhalaqahuHe created himمِنْminfromتُرَابٍturābindustثُمَّthummathenقَالَqālaHe saidلَهُlahuto himكُنْkunBeفَيَكُونُfayakūnuand he was
  60. 60الْحَقُّal-ḥaquThe truthمِنْmin(is) fromرَبِّكَrabbikayour Lordفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَكُنْtakunbeمِنَminaamongالْمُمْتَرِينَl-mum'tarīnathe doubters
  61. 61فَمَنْfamanThen whoeverحَاجَّكَḥājjakaargues (with) youفِيهِfīhiconcerning itمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاwhatجَاءَكَjāakacame to youمِنَminaofالْعِلْمِl-ʿil'mithe knowledgeفَقُلْfaqulthen sayتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeنَدْعُnadʿulet us callأَبْنَاءَنَاabnāanāour sonsوَأَبْنَاءَكُمْwa-abnāakumand your sonsوَنِسَاءَنَاwanisāanāand our womenوَنِسَاءَكُمْwanisāakumand your womenوَأَنْفُسَنَاwa-anfusanāand ourselvesوَأَنْفُسَكُمْwa-anfusakumand yourselvesثُمَّthummathenنَبْتَهِلْnabtahillet us pray humblyفَنَجْعَلْfanajʿaland [we] invokeلَعْنَتَlaʿnata(the) curseاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَىʿalāonالْكَاذِبِينَl-kādhibīnathe liars
  62. 62إِنَّinnaIndeedهَذَاhādhāthisلَهُوَlahuwasurely it (is)الْقَصَصُl-qaṣaṣuthe narrationالْحَقُّl-ḥaqu[the] trueوَمَاwamāAnd (there is) noمِنْmin(of)إِلَهٍilāhingodإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَهُوَlahuwasurely Heالْعَزِيزُl-ʿazīzu(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِيمُl-ḥakīmuthe All-Wise
  63. 63فَإِنْfa-inAnd ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn backفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowingبِالْمُفْسِدِينَbil-muf'sidīnaof the corrupters
  64. 64قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeإِلَىilātoكَلِمَةٍkalimatina wordسَوَاءٍsawāinequitableبَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween usوَبَيْنَكُمْwabaynakumand between youأَلَّاallāthat notنَعْبُدَnaʿbudawe worshipإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَلَاwalāand notنُشْرِكَnush'rikawe associate partnersبِهِbihiwith Himشَيْئًاshayananythingوَلَاwalāand notيَتَّخِذَyattakhidhatakeبَعْضُنَاbaʿḍunāsome of usبَعْضًاbaʿḍan(to) othersأَرْبَابًاarbāban(as) lordsمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَإِنْfa-inThen ifتَوَلَّوْاtawallawthey turn awayفَقُولُواfaqūlūthen sayاشْهَدُواish'hadūBear witnessبِأَنَّاbi-annāthat weمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) Muslims
  65. 65يَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookلِمَlimaWhyتُحَاجُّونَtuḥājjūna(do) you argueفِيconcerningإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَمَاwamāwhile notأُنْزِلَتِunzilatiwas revealedالتَّوْرَاةُl-tawrātuthe Tauratوَالْإِنْجِيلُwal-injīluand the Injeelإِلَّاillāexceptمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter himأَفَلَاafalāThen why don'tتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūnayou use your intellect
  66. 66هَاأَنْتُمْhāantumHere you areهَؤُلَاءِhāulāithose whoحَاجَجْتُمْḥājajtumarguedفِيمَاfīmāabout whatلَكُمْlakum[for] youبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'mun(have some) knowledgeفَلِمَfalimaThen whyتُحَاجُّونَtuḥājjūna(do) you argueفِيمَاfīmāabout whatلَيْسَlaysanotلَكُمْlakumfor youبِهِbihiof itعِلْمٌʿil'mun(any) knowledgeوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيَعْلَمُyaʿlamuknowsوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youلَا(do) notتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  67. 67مَاNotكَانَkānawasإِبْرَاهِيمُib'rāhīmuIbrahimيَهُودِيًّاyahūdiyyana Jewوَلَاwalāand notنَصْرَانِيًّاnaṣrāniyyana Christianوَلَكِنْwalākinand butكَانَkānahe wasحَنِيفًاḥanīfana trueمُسْلِمًاmus'limanMuslimوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminafromالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
  68. 68إِنَّinnaIndeedأَوْلَىawlāthe best to claim relationshipالنَّاسِl-nāsi(of) peopleبِإِبْرَاهِيمَbi-ib'rāhīmawith Ibrahimلَلَّذِينَlalladhīna(are) those whoاتَّبَعُوهُittabaʿūhufollow himوَهَذَاwahādhāand thisالنَّبِيُّl-nabiyu[the] Prophetوَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahوَلِيُّwaliyyu(is) a Guardianالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers
  69. 69وَدَّتْwaddatWishedطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْminfromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookلَوْlawifيُضِلُّونَكُمْyuḍillūnakumthey could lead you astrayوَمَاwamāand notيُضِلُّونَyuḍillūnathey lead astrayإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesوَمَاwamāand notيَشْعُرُونَyashʿurūnathey perceive

  71. 71يَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Book!لِمَlimaWhyتَلْبِسُونَtalbisūnado you mixالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthبِالْبَاطِلِbil-bāṭiliwith the falsehoodوَتَكْتُمُونَwataktumūnaand concealالْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truthوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youتَعْلَمُونَtaʿlamūnaknow
  72. 72وَقَالَتْwaqālatAnd saidطَائِفَةٌṭāifatuna groupمِنْminofأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookءَامِنُواāminūBelieveبِالَّذِيbi-alladhīin whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedعَلَىʿalāonالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَجْهَwajha(at the) beginningالنَّهَارِl-nahāri(of) the dayوَاكْفُرُواwa-uk'furūand rejectءَاخِرَهُākhirahuat its endلَعَلَّهُمْlaʿallahumperhaps they mayيَرْجِعُونَyarjiʿūnareturn
  73. 73وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتُؤْمِنُواtu'minūbelieveإِلَّاillāexceptلِمَنْliman(the one) whoتَبِعَtabiʿafollowsدِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religionقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedالْهُدَىl-hudāthe (true) guidanceهُدَىhudā(is the) Guidanceاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَنْanlestيُؤْتَىyu'tāis givenأَحَدٌaḥadun(to) oneمِثْلَmith'la(the) likeمَا(of) whatأُوتِيتُمْūtītumwas given to youأَوْaworيُحَاجُّوكُمْyuḥājjūkumthey may argue with youعِنْدَʿindanearرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour LordقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedالْفَضْلَl-faḍlathe Bountyبِيَدِbiyadi(is) in the Handاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe gives itمَنْman(to) whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahوَاسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
  74. 74يَخْتَصُّyakhtaṣṣuHe choosesبِرَحْمَتِهِbiraḥmatihifor His MercyمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahذُوdhū(is) the Possessorالْفَضْلِl-faḍli(of) Bountyالْعَظِيمِl-ʿaẓīmi[the] great
  75. 75وَمِنْwaminAnd fromأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookمَنْman(is he) whoإِنْinifتَأْمَنْهُtamanhuyou entrust himبِقِنْطَارٍbiqinṭārinwith a great amount of wealthيُؤَدِّهِyu-addihihe will return itإِلَيْكَilaykato youوَمِنْهُمْwamin'humAnd from themمَنْman(is he) whoإِنْinifتَأْمَنْهُtamanhuyou entrust himبِدِينَارٍbidīnārinwith a single coinلَاnotيُؤَدِّهِyu-addihihe will return itإِلَيْكَilaykato youإِلَّاillāexceptمَاthatدُمْتَdum'tayou keep constantlyعَلَيْهِʿalayhiover himقَائِمًاqāimanstandingذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because theyقَالُواqālūsaidلَيْسَlaysaNotعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāon usفِيconcerningالْأُمِّيِّينَl-umiyīnathe unlettered peopleسَبِيلٌsabīlunany [way] (accountability)وَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  76. 76بَلَىbalāNayمَنْmanwhoeverأَوْفَىawfāfulfillsبِعَهْدِهِbiʿahdihihis covenantوَاتَّقَىwa-ittaqāand fears (Allah)فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathose who fear (Him)
  77. 77إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَشْتَرُونَyashtarūnaexchangeبِعَهْدِbiʿahdi(the) Covenantاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَأَيْمَانِهِمْwa-aymānihimand their oathsثَمَنًاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleأُولَئِكَulāikathoseلَاnoخَلَاقَkhalāqashareلَهُمْlahumfor themفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterوَلَاwalāand notيُكَلِّمُهُمُyukallimuhumuwill speak to themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَاwalāand notيَنْظُرُyanẓurulookإِلَيْهِمْilayhimat themيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrectionوَلَاwalāand notيُزَكِّيهِمْyuzakkīhimpurify themوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  78. 78وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themلَفَرِيقًاlafarīqansurely (is) a groupيَلْوُونَyalwūnathey distortأَلْسِنَتَهُمْalsinatahumtheir tonguesبِالْكِتَابِbil-kitābiin (reciting) the Bookلِتَحْسَبُوهُlitaḥsabūhuso that you may think itمِنَmina(is) fromالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe Bookوَمَاwamāand notهُوَhuwaitمِنَmina(is) fromالْكِتَابِl-kitābithe BookوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayهُوَhuwaItمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāBut notهُوَhuwaitمِنْmin(is)عِنْدِʿindifromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَيَقُولُونَwayaqūlūnaAnd they sayعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhibathe lieوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  79. 79مَاNotكَانَkānaisلِبَشَرٍlibasharinfor a humanأَنْanthatيُؤْتِيَهُyu'tiyahugives himاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحُكْمَwal-ḥuk'maand the wisdomوَالنُّبُوَّةَwal-nubuwataand the Prophethoodثُمَّthummathenيَقُولَyaqūlahe saysلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the peopleكُونُواkūnūBeعِبَادًاʿibādanworshippersلِيof meمِنْminfromدُونِdūnibesidesاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَلَكِنْwalākinbut (would say)كُونُواkūnūBeرَبَّانِيِّينَrabbāniyyīnaworshippers of the Lordبِمَاbimābecauseكُنْتُمْkuntumyou have beenتُعَلِّمُونَtuʿallimūnateachingالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَبِمَاwabimāand becauseكُنْتُمْkuntumyou have beenتَدْرُسُونَtadrusūnastudying (it)
  80. 80وَلَاwalāAnd notيَأْمُرَكُمْyamurakumhe will order youأَنْanthatتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūyou takeالْمَلَائِكَةَl-malāikatathe Angelsوَالنَّبِيِّينَwal-nabiyīnaand the Prophetsأَرْبَابًاarbāban(as) lordsأَيَأْمُرُكُمْayamurukumWould he order youبِالْكُفْرِbil-kuf'rito [the] disbeliefبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِذْidh[when]أَنْتُمْantumyou (have become)مُسْلِمُونَmus'limūnaMuslims
  81. 81وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَخَذَakhadhatookاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِيثَاقَmīthāqacovenantالنَّبِيِّينَl-nabiyīna(of) the ProphetsلَمَاlamāCertainly, whateverءَاتَيْتُكُمْātaytukumI (have) given youمِنْminofكِتَابٍkitābin(the) Bookوَحِكْمَةٍwaḥik'matinand wisdomثُمَّthummathenجَاءَكُمْjāakumcomes to youرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerمُصَدِّقٌmuṣaddiqunconfirmingلِمَاlimāthat whichمَعَكُمْmaʿakum(is) with youلَتُؤْمِنُنَّlatu'minunnayou must believeبِهِbihiin himوَلَتَنْصُرُنَّهُwalatanṣurunnahuand you must help himقَالَqālaHe saidءَأَقْرَرْتُمْa-aqrartumDo you affirmوَأَخَذْتُمْwa-akhadhtumand takeعَلَىʿalāonذَلِكُمْdhālikumthat (condition)إِصْرِيiṣ'rīMy CovenantقَالُواqālūThey saidأَقْرَرْنَاaqrarnāWe affirmقَالَqālaHe saidفَاشْهَدُواfa-ish'hadūThen bear witnessوَأَنَاwa-anāand I (am)مَعَكُمْmaʿakumwith youمِنَminaamongالشَّاهِدِينَl-shāhidīnathe witnesses
  82. 82فَمَنْfamanThen whoeverتَوَلَّىtawallāturns awayبَعْدَbaʿdaafterذَلِكَdhālikathatفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumutheyالْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) the defiantly disobedient
  83. 83أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraSo is (it) other thanدِينِdīni(the) religionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahيَبْغُونَyabghūnathey seekوَلَهُwalahuWhile to Himأَسْلَمَaslama(have) submittedمَنْmanwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthطَوْعًاṭawʿanwillinglyوَكَرْهًاwakarhanor unwillinglyوَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand towards Himيُرْجَعُونَyur'jaʿūnathey will be returned
  84. 84قُلْqulSayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believedبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzila(is) revealedعَلَيْنَاʿalaynāon usوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedعَلَىʿalāonإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīmaIbrahimوَإِسْمَاعِيلَwa-is'māʿīlaand Ismailوَإِسْحَاقَwa-is'ḥāqaand Ishaqوَيَعْقُوبَwayaʿqūbaand Yaqubوَالْأَسْبَاطِwal-asbāṭiand the descendentsوَمَاwamāand whatأُوتِيَūtiyawas givenمُوسَىmūsā(to) Musaوَعِيسَىwaʿīsāand Isaوَالنَّبِيُّونَwal-nabiyūnaand the Prophetsمِنْminfromرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordلَاNotنُفَرِّقُnufarriquwe make distinctionبَيْنَbaynabetweenأَحَدٍaḥadinanyمِنْهُمْmin'humof themوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuand weلَهُlahuto Himمُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(are) submissive
  85. 85وَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَبْتَغِyabtaghiseeksغَيْرَghayraother thanالْإِسْلَامِl-is'lāmi[the] Islamدِينًاdīnan(as) religionفَلَنْfalanthen neverيُقْبَلَyuq'balawill be acceptedمِنْهُmin'hufrom himوَهُوَwahuwaand heفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafterمِنَmina(will be) fromالْخَاسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers
  86. 86كَيْفَkayfaHowيَهْدِيyahdī(shall) guideاللَّهُl-lahuAllahقَوْمًاqawmana peopleكَفَرُواkafarū(who) disbelievedبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِيمَانِهِمْīmānihimtheir beliefوَشَهِدُواwashahidūand (had) witnessedأَنَّannathatالرَّسُولَl-rasūlathe Messengerحَقٌّḥaqqun(is) trueوَجَاءَهُمُwajāahumuand came to themالْبَيِّنَاتُl-bayinātuthe clear proofsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِيyahdīguideالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīna[the] wrongdoers
  87. 87أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseجَزَاؤُهُمْjazāuhumtheir recompenseأَنَّannathatعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themلَعْنَةَlaʿnata(is the) curseاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَالْمَلَائِكَةِwal-malāikatiand the Angelsوَالنَّاسِwal-nāsiand the peopleأَجْمَعِينَajmaʿīnaall together
  88. 88خَالِدِينَkhālidīna(They will) abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itلَاNotيُخَفَّفُyukhaffafuwill be lightenedعَنْهُمُʿanhumufor themالْعَذَابُl-ʿadhābuthe punishmentوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيُنْظَرُونَyunẓarūnawill be reprieved
  89. 89إِلَّاillāExceptالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَابُواtābūrepentمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatوَأَصْلَحُواwa-aṣlaḥūand reform[ed] themselvesفَإِنَّfa-innaThen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  90. 90إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِيمَانِهِمْīmānihimtheir beliefثُمَّthummathenازْدَادُواiz'dādūthey increasedكُفْرًاkuf'ran(in) disbeliefلَنْlanneverتُقْبَلَtuq'balawill be acceptedتَوْبَتُهُمْtawbatuhumtheir repentanceوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseهُمُhumutheyالضَّالُّونَl-ḍālūna(are) those who have gone astray
  91. 91إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieve[d]وَمَاتُواwamātūand diedوَهُمْwahumwhile theyكُفَّارٌkuffārun(are) disbelieversفَلَنْfalanthen neverيُقْبَلَyuq'balawill be acceptedمِنْminfromأَحَدِهِمْaḥadihimany one of themمِلْءُmil'ufullالْأَرْضِl-arḍiearthذَهَبًاdhahaban(of) goldوَلَوِwalawi[and] (even) ifافْتَدَىif'tadāhe offered as ransomبِهِbihiitأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainfulوَمَاwamāand notلَهُمْlahum(will be) for themمِنْminfromنَاصِرِينَnāṣirīnaany helpers
  92. 92لَنْlanNeverتَنَالُواtanālūwill you attainالْبِرَّl-bira[the] righteousnessحَتَّىḥattāuntilتُنْفِقُواtunfiqūyou spendمِمَّاmimmāfrom whatتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnayou loveوَمَاwamāAnd whateverتُنْفِقُواtunfiqūyou spendمِنْminofشَيْءٍshayina thingفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِهِbihiof itعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
  93. 93كُلُّkulluAllالطَّعَامِl-ṭaʿāmi[the] foodكَانَkānawasحِلًّاḥillanlawfulلِبَنِيlibanīfor (the) Childrenإِسْرَاءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israelإِلَّاillāexceptمَاwhatحَرَّمَḥarramamade unlawfulإِسْرَاءِيلُis'rāīluIsraelعَلَىʿalāuponنَفْسِهِnafsihihimselfمِنْmin[from]قَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]تُنَزَّلَtunazzala(was) revealedالتَّوْرَاةُl-tawrātuthe TauratقُلْqulSayفَأْتُواfatūSo bringبِالتَّوْرَاةِbil-tawrātithe Tauratفَاتْلُوهَاfa-it'lūhāand recite itإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  94. 94فَمَنِfamaniThen whoeverافْتَرَىif'tarāfabricatesعَلَىʿalāaboutاللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْكَذِبَl-kadhiba[the] lieمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterذَلِكَdhālikathatفَأُولَئِكَfa-ulāikathen thoseهُمُhumutheyالظَّالِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
  95. 95قُلْqulSayصَدَقَṣadaqa(has) spoken the truthاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَاتَّبِعُواfa-ittabiʿūthen followمِلَّةَmillata(the) religionإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimحَنِيفًاḥanīfan(the) uprightوَمَاwamāand notكَانَkānahe wasمِنَminaofالْمُشْرِكِينَl-mush'rikīnathe polytheists
  96. 96إِنَّinnaIndeedأَوَّلَawwala(the) firstبَيْتٍbaytinHouseوُضِعَwuḍiʿaset upلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindلَلَّذِيlalladhī(is) the one whichبِبَكَّةَbibakkata(is) at Bakkahمُبَارَكًاmubārakanblessedوَهُدًىwahudanand a guidanceلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnafor the worlds
  97. 97فِيهِfīhiIn itءَايَاتٌāyātun(are) signsبَيِّنَاتٌbayyinātunclearمَقَامُmaqāmustanding placeإِبْرَاهِيمَib'rāhīma(of) Ibrahimوَمَنْwamanand whoeverدَخَلَهُdakhalahuenters itكَانَkānaisءَامِنًاāminansafeوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd (due) to Allahعَلَىʿalāuponالنَّاسِl-nāsithe mankindحِجُّḥijju(is) pilgrimageالْبَيْتِl-bayti(of) the Houseمَنِmani(for one) whoاسْتَطَاعَis'taṭāʿais ableإِلَيْهِilayhito [it]سَبِيلًاsabīlan(find) a wayوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverكَفَرَkafaradisbelievedفَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَنِيٌّghaniyyun(is) free from needعَنِʿaniofالْعَالَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds
  98. 98قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookلِمَlimaWhyتَكْفُرُونَtakfurūna(do) you disbelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuwhile Allahشَهِيدٌshahīdun(is) a Witnessعَلَىʿalāoverمَاwhatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  99. 99قُلْqulSayيَاأَهْلَyāahlaO Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the BookلِمَlimaWhyتَصُدُّونَtaṣuddūna(do) you hinderعَنْʿanfromسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahمَنْman(those) whoءَامَنَāmanabelieve[d]تَبْغُونَهَاtabghūnahāseeking (to make) itعِوَجًاʿiwajan(seem) crookedوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile youشُهَدَاءُshuhadāu(are) witnessesوَمَاwamāAnd notاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِغَافِلٍbighāfilin(is) unawareعَمَّاʿammāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  100. 100يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!إِنْinIfتُطِيعُواtuṭīʿūyou obeyفَرِيقًاfarīqana groupمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookيَرُدُّوكُمْyaruddūkumthey will turn you backبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِيمَانِكُمْīmānikumyour beliefكَافِرِينَkāfirīna(as) disbelievers
  101. 101وَكَيْفَwakayfaAnd how (could)تَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnayou disbelieveوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile [you]تُتْلَىtut'lāis recitedعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youءَايَاتُāyātu(the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَفِيكُمْwafīkumand among youرَسُولُهُrasūluhu(is) His MessengerوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَعْتَصِمْyaʿtaṣimholds firmlyبِاللَّهِbil-lahito Allahفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyهُدِيَhudiyahe is guidedإِلَىilātoصِرَاطٍṣirāṭina pathمُسْتَقِيمٍmus'taqīminstraight
  102. 102يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!اتَّقُواittaqūFearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahحَقَّḥaqqa(as is His) rightتُقَاتِهِtuqātihi(that) He (should) be fearedوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَمُوتُنَّtamūtunnadieإِلَّاillāexceptوَأَنْتُمْwa-antum[while you]مُسْلِمُونَmus'limūna(as) Muslims
  103. 103وَاعْتَصِمُواwa-iʿ'taṣimūAnd hold firmlyبِحَبْلِbiḥablito (the) ropeاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahجَمِيعًاjamīʿanall togetherوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَفَرَّقُواtafarraqūbe dividedوَاذْكُرُواwa-udh'kurūAnd rememberنِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favorاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon youإِذْidhwhenكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereأَعْدَاءًaʿdāanenemiesفَأَلَّفَfa-allafathen He made friendshipبَيْنَbaynabetweenقُلُوبِكُمْqulūbikumyour heartsفَأَصْبَحْتُمْfa-aṣbaḥtumthen you becameبِنِعْمَتِهِbiniʿ'matihiby His Favorإِخْوَانًاikh'wānanbrothersوَكُنْتُمْwakuntumAnd you wereعَلَىʿalāonشَفَاshafā(the) brinkحُفْرَةٍḥuf'ratin(of) pitمِنَminaofالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireفَأَنْقَذَكُمْfa-anqadhakumthen He saved youمِنْهَاmin'hāfrom itكَذَلِكَkadhālikaThusيُبَيِّنُyubayyinumakes clearاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلَكُمْlakumfor youءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَهْتَدُونَtahtadūna(be) guided
  104. 104وَلْتَكُنْwaltakunAnd let there beمِنْكُمْminkumamong youأُمَّةٌummatun[a] peopleيَدْعُونَyadʿūnainvitingإِلَىilātoالْخَيْرِl-khayrithe goodوَيَأْمُرُونَwayamurūna[and] enjoiningبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfithe rightوَيَنْهَوْنَwayanhawnaand forbiddingعَنِʿanifromالْمُنْكَرِl-munkarithe wrongوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseهُمُhumutheyالْمُفْلِحُونَl-muf'liḥūna(are) the successful ones
  105. 105وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَكُونُواtakūnūbeكَالَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those whoتَفَرَّقُواtafarraqūbecame dividedوَاخْتَلَفُواwa-ikh'talafūand differedمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاwhatجَاءَهُمُjāahumucame to themالْبَيِّنَاتُl-bayinātuthe clear proofsوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseلَهُمْlahumfor themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  106. 106يَوْمَyawma(On the) Dayتَبْيَضُّtabyaḍḍuwould become whiteوُجُوهٌwujūhun(some) facesوَتَسْوَدُّwataswadduand would become blackوُجُوهٌwujūhun(some) facesفَأَمَّاfa-ammāAs forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoseاسْوَدَّتْis'waddatturn blackوُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhum[their] facesأَكَفَرْتُمْakafartumDid you disbelieveبَعْدَbaʿdaafterإِيمَانِكُمْīmānikumyour beliefفَذُوقُواfadhūqūThen tasteالْعَذَابَl-ʿadhābathe punishmentبِمَاbimāfor whatكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَكْفُرُونَtakfurūnadisbelieve
  107. 107وَأَمَّاwa-ammāBut as forالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoseابْيَضَّتْib'yaḍḍatturn whiteوُجُوهُهُمْwujūhuhum[their] facesفَفِيfafīthen (they will be) inرَحْمَةِraḥmati(the) Mercyاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
  108. 108تِلْكَtil'kaTheseءَايَاتُāyātu(are the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) AllahنَتْلُوهَاnatlūhāWe recite themعَلَيْكَʿalaykato youبِالْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truthوَمَاwamāAnd notاللَّهُl-lahuAllahيُرِيدُyurīduwantsظُلْمًاẓul'maninjusticeلِلْعَالَمِينَlil'ʿālamīnato the worlds
  109. 109وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allah (belongs)مَاwhateverفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whateverفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthوَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd toاللَّهِl-lahiAllahتُرْجَعُtur'jaʿuwill be returnedالْأُمُورُl-umūruthe matters
  110. 110كُنْتُمْkuntumYou areخَيْرَkhayra(the) bestأُمَّةٍummatin(of) peopleأُخْرِجَتْukh'rijatraisedلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the mankindتَأْمُرُونَtamurūnaenjoiningبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfithe rightوَتَنْهَوْنَwatanhawnaand forbiddingعَنِʿani[from]الْمُنْكَرِl-munkarithe wrongوَتُؤْمِنُونَwatu'minūnaand believingبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin AllahوَلَوْwalawAnd ifءَامَنَāmanabelievedأَهْلُahlu(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookلَكَانَlakānasurely would have beenخَيْرًاkhayrangoodلَهُمْlahumfor themمِنْهُمُmin'humuAmong themالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūna(are) the believersوَأَكْثَرُهُمُwa-aktharuhumubut most of themالْفَاسِقُونَl-fāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient
  111. 111لَنْlanNeverيَضُرُّوكُمْyaḍurrūkumwill they harm youإِلَّاillāexceptأَذًىadhana hurtوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifيُقَاتِلُوكُمْyuqātilūkumthey fight youيُوَلُّوكُمُyuwallūkumuthey will turn (towards) youالْأَدْبَارَl-adbārathe backsثُمَّthummathenلَاnotيُنْصَرُونَyunṣarūnathey will be helped
  112. 112ضُرِبَتْḍuribatStruckعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالذِّلَّةُl-dhilatuthe humiliationأَيْنَaynawhereverمَاthatثُقِفُواthuqifūthey are foundإِلَّاillāexceptبِحَبْلٍbiḥablinwith a ropeمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَحَبْلٍwaḥablinand a ropeمِنَminafromالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَبَاءُوwabāūAnd they incurredبِغَضَبٍbighaḍabinwrathمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَضُرِبَتْwaḍuribatand struckعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuon themالْمَسْكَنَةُl-maskanatuthe povertyذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) becauseكَانُواkānūthey used toيَكْفُرُونَyakfurūnadisbelieveبِءَايَاتِbiāyātiin (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَيَقْتُلُونَwayaqtulūnaand they killedالْأَنْبِيَاءَl-anbiyāathe ProphetsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحَقٍّḥaqqinrightذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِمَاbimā(is) becauseعَصَوْاʿaṣawthey disobeyedوَكَانُواwakānūand they used toيَعْتَدُونَyaʿtadūnatransgress
  113. 113لَيْسُواlaysūThey are notسَوَاءًsawāan(the) sameمِنْminamongأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookأُمَّةٌummatun(is) a communityقَائِمَةٌqāimatunstandingيَتْلُونَyatlūna(and) recitingءَايَاتِāyāti(the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahءَانَاءَānāa(in the) hoursاللَّيْلِal-layli(of) the nightوَهُمْwahumand theyيَسْجُدُونَyasjudūnaprostrate
  114. 114يُؤْمِنُونَyu'minūnaThey believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَالْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Dayالْءَاخِرِl-ākhirithe Lastوَيَأْمُرُونَwayamurūnaand they enjoinبِالْمَعْرُوفِbil-maʿrūfi[with] the rightوَيَنْهَوْنَwayanhawnaand forbidعَنِʿani[from]الْمُنْكَرِl-munkarithe wrongوَيُسَارِعُونَwayusāriʿūnaand they hastenفِيinالْخَيْرَاتِl-khayrātithe good deedsوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaAnd thoseمِنَmina(are) fromالصَّالِحِينَl-ṣāliḥīnathe righteous
  115. 115وَمَاwamāAnd whateverيَفْعَلُواyafʿalūthey doمِنْminofخَيْرٍkhayrina goodفَلَنْfalanthen neverيُكْفَرُوهُyuk'farūhuwill they be denied itوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowingبِالْمُتَّقِينَbil-mutaqīnaof the God-fearing
  116. 116إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedلَنْlanneverتُغْنِيَtugh'niyawill availعَنْهُمْʿanhum[for] themأَمْوَالُهُمْamwāluhumtheir wealthوَلَاwalāand notأَوْلَادُهُمْawlāduhumtheir childrenمِنَminaagainstاللَّهِl-lahiAllahشَيْئًاshayananythingوَأُولَئِكَwa-ulāikaand thoseأَصْحَابُaṣḥābu(are the) companionsالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fireهُمْhumtheyفِيهَاfīhāin itخَالِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
  117. 117مَثَلُmathaluExampleمَا(of) whatيُنْفِقُونَyunfiqūnathey spendفِيinهَذِهِhādhihithisالْحَيَوةِl-ḥayati[the] lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldكَمَثَلِkamathali(is) like (the) exampleرِيحٍrīḥin(of) a windفِيهَاfīhāin itصِرٌّṣirrun(is) frostأَصَابَتْaṣābatit struckحَرْثَḥartha(the) harvestقَوْمٍqawmin(of) a peopleظَلَمُواẓalamūwho wrongedأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesفَأَهْلَكَتْهُfa-ahlakathuthen destroyed itوَمَاwamāAnd notظَلَمَهُمُẓalamahumu(has) wronged themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَكِنْwalākin[and] butأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَyaẓlimūnathey wronged
  118. 118يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!لَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُواtattakhidhūtakeبِطَانَةًbiṭānatan(as) intimatesمِنْminfromدُونِكُمْdūnikumother than yourselvesلَاnotيَأْلُونَكُمْyalūnakumthey will spare youخَبَالًاkhabālan(any) ruinوَدُّواwaddūThey wishمَاwhatعَنِتُّمْʿanittumdistresses youقَدْqadIndeedبَدَتِbadati(has become) apparentالْبَغْضَاءُl-baghḍāuthe hatredمِنْminfromأَفْوَاهِهِمْafwāhihimtheir mouthsوَمَاwamāand whatتُخْفِيtukh'fīconcealsصُدُورُهُمْṣudūruhumtheir breastsأَكْبَرُakbaru(is) greaterقَدْqadCertainlyبَيَّنَّاbayyannāWe made clearلَكُمُlakumufor youالْءَايَاتِl-āyātithe Versesإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereتَعْقِلُونَtaʿqilūna(to use) reason
  119. 119هَاأَنْتُمْhāantumLo! You areأُولَاءِulāithoseتُحِبُّونَهُمْtuḥibbūnahumyou love themوَلَاwalābut notيُحِبُّونَكُمْyuḥibbūnakumthey love youوَتُؤْمِنُونَwatu'minūnaand you believeبِالْكِتَابِbil-kitābiin the Bookكُلِّهِkullihiall of itوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenلَقُوكُمْlaqūkumthey meet youقَالُواqālūthey sayءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believeوَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd whenخَلَوْاkhalawthey are aloneعَضُّواʿaḍḍūthey biteعَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuat youالْأَنَامِلَl-anāmilathe finger tipsمِنَmina(out) ofالْغَيْظِl-ghayẓi[the] rageقُلْqulSayمُوتُواmūtūDieبِغَيْظِكُمْbighayẓikumin your rageإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Knowingبِذَاتِbidhātiof whatالصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts
  120. 120إِنْinIfتَمْسَسْكُمْtamsaskumtouches youحَسَنَةٌḥasanatuna goodتَسُؤْهُمْtasu'humit grieves themوَإِنْwa-inand ifتُصِبْكُمْtuṣib'kumstrikes youسَيِّئَةٌsayyi-atunmisfortuneيَفْرَحُواyafraḥūthey rejoiceبِهَاbihāat itوَإِنْwa-inAnd ifتَصْبِرُواtaṣbirūyou are patientوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)لَاnotيَضُرُّكُمْyaḍurrukumwill harm youكَيْدُهُمْkayduhumtheir plotشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey doمُحِيطٌmuḥīṭun(is) All-Encompassing
  121. 121وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenغَدَوْتَghadawtayou left early morningمِنْminfromأَهْلِكَahlikayour householdتُبَوِّئُtubawwi-uto postالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersمَقَاعِدَmaqāʿida(to take) positionsلِلْقِتَالِlil'qitālifor the battleوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahسَمِيعٌsamīʿun(is) All-HearingعَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing
  122. 122إِذْidhWhenهَمَّتْhammatinclinedطَائِفَتَانِṭāifatānitwo partiesمِنْكُمْminkumamong youأَنْanthatتَفْشَلَاtafshalāthey lost heartوَاللَّهُwal-lahubut Allahوَلِيُّهُمَاwaliyyuhumā(was) their protectorوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd onاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkalilet put (their) trustالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
  123. 123وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyنَصَرَكُمُnaṣarakumuhelped youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahبِبَدْرٍbibadrinin Badrوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile you (were)أَذِلَّةٌadhillatunweakفَاتَّقُواfa-ittaqūSo fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَtashkurūna(be) grateful
  124. 124إِذْidhWhenتَقُولُtaqūluyou saidلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَlil'mu'minīnato the believersأَلَنْalanIs it notيَكْفِيَكُمْyakfiyakumenough for youأَنْanthatيُمِدَّكُمْyumiddakumreinforces youرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordبِثَلَاثَةِbithalāthatiwith threeءَالَافٍālāfinthousand[s]مِنَmina[of]الْمَلَائِكَةِl-malāikati[the] Angelsمُنْزَلِينَmunzalīna[the ones] sent down
  125. 125بَلَىbalāYesإِنْinifتَصْبِرُواtaṣbirūyou are patientوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)وَيَأْتُوكُمْwayatūkumand they come upon youمِنْmin[of]فَوْرِهِمْfawrihimsuddenlyهَذَاhādhā[this]يُمْدِدْكُمْyum'did'kumwill reinforce youرَبُّكُمْrabbukumyour Lordبِخَمْسَةِbikhamsatiwith fiveءَالَافٍālāfinthousand[s]مِنَmina[of]الْمَلَائِكَةِl-malāikati[the] Angelsمُسَوِّمِينَmusawwimīna[the ones] having marks
  126. 126وَمَاwamāAnd notجَعَلَهُjaʿalahumade itاللَّهُl-lahuAllahإِلَّاillāexceptبُشْرَىbush'rā(as) good newsلَكُمْlakumfor youوَلِتَطْمَئِنَّwalitaṭma-innaand to reassureقُلُوبُكُمْqulūbukumyour heartsبِهِbihiwith itوَمَاwamāAnd (there is) noالنَّصْرُl-naṣru[the] victoryإِلَّاillāexceptمِنْminfromعِنْدِʿindi[near]اللَّهِl-lahiAllahالْعَزِيزِl-ʿazīzithe All-Mightyالْحَكِيمِl-ḥakīmithe All-Wise
  127. 127لِيَقْطَعَliyaqṭaʿaThat He may cut offطَرَفًاṭarafana partمِنَminaofالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedأَوْaworيَكْبِتَهُمْyakbitahumsuppress themفَيَنْقَلِبُواfayanqalibūso (that) they turn backخَائِبِينَkhāibīnadisappointed
  128. 128لَيْسَlaysaNotلَكَlakafor youمِنَminaofالْأَمْرِl-amrithe decisionشَيْءٌshayon(of) anythingأَوْawwhetherيَتُوبَyatūbaHe turnsعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themأَوْaworيُعَذِّبَهُمْyuʿadhibahumpunishes themفَإِنَّهُمْfa-innahumfor indeed theyظَالِمُونَẓālimūna(are) wrongdoers
  129. 129وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allah (belongs)مَاwhatفِي(is) inالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwātithe heavensوَمَاwamāand whatفِي(is) inالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthيَغْفِرُyaghfiruHe forgivesلِمَنْliman[for] whomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishesمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingرَحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful
  130. 130يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!لَا(Do) notتَأْكُلُواtakulūeatالرِّبَواl-ribathe usuryأَضْعَافًاaḍʿāfandoubledمُضَاعَفَةًmuḍāʿafatanmultipliedوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūna(be) successful
  131. 131وَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūAnd fearالنَّارَl-nārathe Fireالَّتِيallatīwhichأُعِدَّتْuʿiddatis preparedلِلْكَافِرِينَlil'kāfirīnafor the disbelievers
  132. 132وَأَطِيعُواwa-aṭīʿūAnd obeyاللَّهَl-lahaAllahوَالرَّسُولَwal-rasūlaand the Messengerلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَtur'ḥamūnareceive mercy
  133. 133وَسَارِعُواwasāriʿūAnd hastenإِلَىilātoمَغْفِرَةٍmaghfiratinforgivenessمِنْminfromرَبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lordوَجَنَّةٍwajannatinand a Gardenعَرْضُهَاʿarḍuhāits widthالسَّمَاوَاتُl-samāwātu(is like that of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضُwal-arḍuand the earthأُعِدَّتْuʿiddatpreparedلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the pious
  134. 134الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيُنْفِقُونَyunfiqūnaspendفِيinالسَّرَّاءِl-sarāi[the] easeوَالضَّرَّاءِwal-ḍarāiand (in) the hardshipوَالْكَاظِمِينَwal-kāẓimīnaand those who restrainالْغَيْظَl-ghayẓathe angerوَالْعَافِينَwal-ʿāfīnaand those who pardonعَنِʿani[from]النَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
  135. 135وَالَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd thoseإِذَاidhāwhenفَعَلُواfaʿalūthey didفَاحِشَةًfāḥishatanimmoralityأَوْaworظَلَمُواẓalamūwrongedأَنْفُسَهُمْanfusahumthemselvesذَكَرُواdhakarūthey rememberاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَاسْتَغْفَرُواfa-is'taghfarūthen ask forgivenessلِذُنُوبِهِمْlidhunūbihimfor their sinsوَمَنْwamanand whoيَغْفِرُyaghfiru(can) forgiveالذُّنُوبَl-dhunūbathe sinsإِلَّاillāexceptاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَلَمْwalamAnd notيُصِرُّواyuṣirrūthey persistعَلَىʿalāonمَاwhatفَعَلُواfaʿalūthey didوَهُمْwahumwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَyaʿlamūnaknow
  136. 136أُولَئِكَulāikaThoseجَزَاؤُهُمْjazāuhumtheir rewardمَغْفِرَةٌmaghfiratun(is) forgivenessمِنْminfromرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordوَجَنَّاتٌwajannātunand Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath itالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnaabiding foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itوَنِعْمَwaniʿ'maAnd an excellentأَجْرُajrurewardالْعَامِلِينَl-ʿāmilīna(for) the (righteous) workers
  137. 137قَدْqadVerilyخَلَتْkhalatpassedمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youسُنَنٌsunanunsituationsفَسِيرُواfasīrūthen travelفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthفَانْظُرُواfa-unẓurūand seeكَيْفَkayfahowكَانَkānawasعَاقِبَةُʿāqibatu(the) endالْمُكَذِّبِينَl-mukadhibīna(of) the deniers
  138. 138هَذَاhādhāThisبَيَانٌbayānun(is) a declarationلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsifor the peopleوَهُدًىwahudanand guidanceوَمَوْعِظَةٌwamawʿiẓatunand admonitionلِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the God-fearing
  139. 139وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَهِنُواtahinūweakenوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَحْزَنُواtaḥzanūgrieveوَأَنْتُمُwa-antumuand you (will be)الْأَعْلَوْنَl-aʿlawna[the] superiorإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  140. 140إِنْinIfيَمْسَسْكُمْyamsaskumtouched youقَرْحٌqarḥuna woundفَقَدْfaqadso certainlyمَسَّmassa(has) touchedالْقَوْمَl-qawmathe peopleقَرْحٌqarḥunwoundمِثْلُهُmith'luhulike itوَتِلْكَwatil'kaAnd thisالْأَيَّامُl-ayāmu[the] daysنُدَاوِلُهَاnudāwiluhāWe alternate themبَيْنَbaynaamongالنَّاسِl-nāsithe peopleوَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlama[and] so that makes evidentاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]وَيَتَّخِذَwayattakhidhaand takeمِنْكُمْminkumfrom youشُهَدَاءَshuhadāamartyrsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّyuḥibbuloveالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoers
  141. 141وَلِيُمَحِّصَwaliyumaḥḥiṣaAnd so that may purifyاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieveوَيَمْحَقَwayamḥaqaand destroyالْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  142. 142أَمْamOrحَسِبْتُمْḥasib'tumdo you thinkأَنْanthatتَدْخُلُواtadkhulūyou will enterالْجَنَّةَl-janataParadiseوَلَمَّاwalammāwhile has not yetيَعْلَمِyaʿlamimade evidentاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoجَاهَدُواjāhadūstrove hardمِنْكُمْminkumamong youوَيَعْلَمَwayaʿlamaand made evidentالصَّابِرِينَl-ṣābirīnathe steadfast
  143. 143وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyكُنْتُمْkuntumyou used toتَمَنَّوْنَtamannawnawishالْمَوْتَl-mawta(for) deathمِنْminfromقَبْلِqablibeforeأَنْan[that]تَلْقَوْهُtalqawhuyou met itفَقَدْfaqadthen indeedرَأَيْتُمُوهُra-aytumūhuyou have seen itوَأَنْتُمْwa-antumwhile you (were)تَنْظُرُونَtanẓurūnalooking on
  144. 144وَمَاwamāAnd notمُحَمَّدٌmuḥammadun(is) Muhammadإِلَّاillāexceptرَسُولٌrasūluna Messengerقَدْqadcertainlyخَلَتْkhalatpassed awayمِنْminfromقَبْلِهِqablihibefore himالرُّسُلُl-rusulu[the] (other) Messengersأَفَإِينْafa-inSo ifمَاتَmātahe diedأَوْaworقُتِلَqutilais slainانْقَلَبْتُمْinqalabtumwill you turn backعَلَىʿalāonأَعْقَابِكُمْaʿqābikumyour heelsوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَنْقَلِبْyanqalibturns backعَلَىʿalāonعَقِبَيْهِʿaqibayhihis heelsفَلَنْfalanthen neverيَضُرَّyaḍurrawill he harmاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingوَسَيَجْزِيwasayajzīAnd will rewardاللَّهُl-lahuAllahالشَّاكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe grateful ones
  145. 145وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisلِنَفْسٍlinafsinfor a soulأَنْanthatتَمُوتَtamūtahe diesإِلَّاillāexceptبِإِذْنِbi-idh'niby (the) permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahكِتَابًاkitāban(at a) decreeمُؤَجَّلًاmu-ajjalandeterminedوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيُرِدْyuriddesiresثَوَابَthawābarewardالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldنُؤْتِهِnu'tihiWe will give himمِنْهَاmin'hāthereofوَمَنْwamanand whoeverيُرِدْyuriddesiresثَوَابَthawābarewardالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(of) the Hereafterنُؤْتِهِnu'tihiWe will give himمِنْهَاmin'hāthereofوَسَنَجْزِيwasanajzīAnd We will rewardالشَّاكِرِينَl-shākirīnathe grateful ones
  146. 146وَكَأَيِّنْwaka-ayyinAnd how manyمِنْminfromنَبِيٍّnabiyyina Prophetقَاتَلَqātalafoughtمَعَهُmaʿahuwith himرِبِّيُّونَribbiyyūna(were) religious scholarsكَثِيرٌkathīrunmanyفَمَاfamāBut notوَهَنُواwahanūthey lost heartلِمَاlimāfor whatأَصَابَهُمْaṣābahumbefell themفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَمَاwamāand notضَعُفُواḍaʿufūthey weakenedوَمَاwamāand notاسْتَكَانُواis'takānūthey gave inوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالصَّابِرِينَl-ṣābirīnathe patient ones
  147. 147وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānawereقَوْلَهُمْqawlahumtheir wordsإِلَّاillāexceptأَنْanthatقَالُواqālūthey saidرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordاغْفِرْigh'firforgiveلَنَاlanāfor usذُنُوبَنَاdhunūbanāour sinsوَإِسْرَافَنَاwa-is'rāfanāand our excessesفِيinأَمْرِنَاamrināour affairsوَثَبِّتْwathabbitand make firmأَقْدَامَنَاaqdāmanāour feetوَانْصُرْنَاwa-unṣur'nāand give us victoryعَلَىʿalāagainstالْقَوْمِl-qawmi[the people]الْكَافِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
  148. 148فَءَاتَاهُمُfaātāhumuSo gave themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahثَوَابَthawābarewardالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(in) the worldوَحُسْنَwaḥus'naand goodثَوَابِthawābirewardالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhirati(in) the Hereafterوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers
  149. 149يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve!إِنْinIfتُطِيعُواtuṭīʿūyou obeyالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveيَرُدُّوكُمْyaruddūkumthey will turn you backعَلَىʿalāonأَعْقَابِكُمْaʿqābikumyour heelsفَتَنْقَلِبُواfatanqalibūthen you will turn backخَاسِرِينَkhāsirīna(as) losers
  150. 150بَلِbaliNayاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَوْلَاكُمْmawlākum(is) your Protectorوَهُوَwahuwaand Heخَيْرُkhayru(is the) bestالنَّاصِرِينَl-nāṣirīna(of) the Helpers
  151. 151سَنُلْقِيsanul'qīWe will castفِيinقُلُوبِqulūbi(the) heartsالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelieveالرُّعْبَl-ruʿ'ba[the] terrorبِمَاbimābecauseأَشْرَكُواashrakūthey associated partnersبِاللَّهِbil-lahiwith AllahمَاwhatلَمْlamnotيُنَزِّلْyunazzilHe sent downبِهِbihiabout itسُلْطَانًاsul'ṭānanany authorityوَمَأْوَاهُمُwamawāhumuand their refugeالنَّارُl-nāru(will be) the Fireوَبِئْسَwabi'saand wretchedمَثْوَىmathwā(is the) abodeالظَّالِمِينَl-ẓālimīna[of] the wrongdoers
  152. 152وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainlyصَدَقَكُمُṣadaqakumufulfilled to youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahوَعْدَهُwaʿdahuHis promiseإِذْidhwhenتَحُسُّونَهُمْtaḥussūnahumyou were killing themبِإِذْنِهِbi-idh'nihiby His permissionحَتَّىḥattāuntilإِذَاidhāwhenفَشِلْتُمْfashil'tumyou lost courageوَتَنَازَعْتُمْwatanāzaʿtumand you fell into disputeفِيconcerningالْأَمْرِl-amrithe orderوَعَصَيْتُمْwaʿaṣaytumand you disobeyedمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَا[what]أَرَاكُمْarākumHe (had) shown youمَاwhatتُحِبُّونَtuḥibbūnayou loveمِنْكُمْminkumAmong youمَنْman(are some) whoيُرِيدُyurīdudesireالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe worldوَمِنْكُمْwaminkumand among youمَنْman(are some) whoيُرِيدُyurīdudesireالْءَاخِرَةَl-ākhiratathe HereafterثُمَّthummaThenصَرَفَكُمْṣarafakumHe diverted youعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themلِيَبْتَلِيَكُمْliyabtaliyakumso that He may test youوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surelyعَفَاʿafāHe forgaveعَنْكُمْʿankumyouوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahذُوdhū(is the) Possessorفَضْلٍfaḍlin(of) Bountyعَلَىʿalāforالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
  153. 153إِذْidhWhenتُصْعِدُونَtuṣ'ʿidūnayou were running uphillوَلَاwalāand notتَلْوُونَtalwūnacasting a glanceعَلَىʿalāonأَحَدٍaḥadinanyoneوَالرَّسُولُwal-rasūluwhile the Messengerيَدْعُوكُمْyadʿūkumwas calling youفِي[in]أُخْرَاكُمْukh'rākum(from) behind youفَأَثَابَكُمْfa-athābakumSo (He) repaid youغَمًّاghamman(with) distressبِغَمٍّbighamminon distressلِكَيْلَاlikaylāso that notتَحْزَنُواtaḥzanūyou grieveعَلَىʿalāoverمَاwhatفَاتَكُمْfātakumescaped youوَلَاwalāand notمَاwhatأَصَابَكُمْaṣābakum(had) befallen youوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Awareبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
  154. 154ثُمَّthummaThenأَنْزَلَanzalaHe sent downعَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon youمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterالْغَمِّl-ghamithe distressأَمَنَةًamanatansecurityنُعَاسًاnuʿāsanslumberيَغْشَىyaghshāovercomingطَائِفَةًṭāifatana groupمِنْكُمْminkumof youوَطَائِفَةٌwaṭāifatunwhile a groupقَدْqadcertainlyأَهَمَّتْهُمْahammathumworried [them]أَنْفُسُهُمْanfusuhum(about) themselvesيَظُنُّونَyaẓunnūnathinkingبِاللَّهِbil-lahiabout Allahغَيْرَghayraother thanالْحَقِّl-ḥaqithe truthظَنَّẓanna(the) thoughtالْجَاهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyati(of) [the] ignoranceيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingهَلْhalIs (there)لَنَاlanāfor usمِنَminafromالْأَمْرِl-amrithe matterمِنْminanyشَيْءٍshayinthingقُلْqulSayإِنَّinnaIndeedالْأَمْرَl-amrathe matterكُلَّهُkullahuall (of) itلِلَّهِlillahi(is) for Allahيُخْفُونَyukh'fūnaThey hideفِيinأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesمَاwhatلَاnotيُبْدُونَyub'dūnathey revealلَكَlakato youيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnaThey sayلَوْlawifكَانَkānawasلَنَاlanāfor usمِنَminafromالْأَمْرِl-amrithe matterشَيْءٌshayonanythingمَاnotقُتِلْنَاqutil'nāwe would have been killedهَاهُنَاhāhunāhereقُلْqulSayلَوْlawifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou wereفِيinبُيُوتِكُمْbuyūtikumyour housesلَبَرَزَlabarazasurely (would have) come outالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكُتِبَkutibawas decreedعَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon themالْقَتْلُl-qatlu[the] deathإِلَىilātowardsمَضَاجِعِهِمْmaḍājiʿihimtheir places of deathوَلِيَبْتَلِيَwaliyabtaliyaAnd that might testاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمَاwhatفِي(is) inصُدُورِكُمْṣudūrikumyour breastsوَلِيُمَحِّصَwaliyumaḥḥiṣaand that He may purgeمَاwhatفِي(is) inقُلُوبِكُمْqulūbikumyour heartsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعَلِيمٌʿalīmun(is) All-Awareبِذَاتِbidhātiof whatالصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts
  155. 155إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoتَوَلَّوْاtawallawturned backمِنْكُمْminkumamong youيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayالْتَقَىl-taqāmetالْجَمْعَانِl-jamʿānithe two hostsإِنَّمَاinnamāonlyاسْتَزَلَّهُمُis'tazallahumumade them slipالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanبِبَعْضِbibaʿḍifor someمَا(of) whatكَسَبُواkasabūthey (had) earnedوَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surelyعَفَاʿafāforgaveاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَنْهُمْʿanhum[on] themإِنَّinnaindeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahغَفُورٌghafūrun(is) Oft-ForgivingحَلِيمٌḥalīmunAll-Forbearing
  156. 156يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]لَا(Do) notتَكُونُواtakūnūbeكَالَّذِينَka-alladhīnalike those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidلِإِخْوَانِهِمْli-ikh'wānihimabout their brothersإِذَاidhāwhenضَرَبُواḍarabūthey traveledفِيinالْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earthأَوْaworكَانُواkānūthey wereغُزًّىghuzzanfightingلَوْlawifكَانُواkānūthey had beenعِنْدَنَاʿindanāwith usمَاnotمَاتُواmātūthey (would have) diedوَمَاwamāand notقُتِلُواqutilūthey (would have) been killedلِيَجْعَلَliyajʿalaSo makesاللَّهُl-lahuAllahذَلِكَdhālikathatحَسْرَةًḥasratana regretفِيinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahيُحْيِيyuḥ'yīgives lifeوَيُمِيتُwayumītuand causes deathوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahبِمَاbimāof whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
  157. 157وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifقُتِلْتُمْqutil'tumyou are killedفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَوْaworمُتُّمْmuttumdie[d]لَمَغْفِرَةٌlamaghfiratuncertainly forgivenessمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَرَحْمَةٌwaraḥmatunand Mercyخَيْرٌkhayrun(are) betterمِمَّاmimmāthan whatيَجْمَعُونَyajmaʿūnathey accumulate
  158. 158وَلَئِنْwala-inAnd ifمُتُّمْmuttumyou dieأَوْaworقُتِلْتُمْqutil'tumare killedلَإِلَىla-ilāsurely toاللَّهِl-lahiAllahتُحْشَرُونَtuḥ'sharūnayou will be gathered
  159. 159فَبِمَاfabimāSo becauseرَحْمَةٍraḥmatin(of) Mercyمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahلِنْتَlintayou dealt gentlyلَهُمْlahumwith themوَلَوْwalawAnd ifكُنْتَkuntayou had beenفَظًّاfaẓẓanrudeغَلِيظَghalīẓa(and) harshالْقَلْبِl-qalbi(at) [the] heartلَانْفَضُّواla-infaḍḍūsurely they (would have) dispersedمِنْminfromحَوْلِكَḥawlikaaround youفَاعْفُfa-uʿ'fuThen pardonعَنْهُمْʿanhum[from] themوَاسْتَغْفِرْwa-is'taghfirand ask forgivenessلَهُمْlahumfor themوَشَاوِرْهُمْwashāwir'humand consult themفِيinالْأَمْرِl-amrithe matterفَإِذَاfa-idhāThen whenعَزَمْتَʿazamtayou have decidedفَتَوَكَّلْfatawakkalthen put trustعَلَىʿalāonاللَّهِl-lahiAllahإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيُحِبُّyuḥibbulovesالْمُتَوَكِّلِينَl-mutawakilīnathe ones who put trust (in Him)
  160. 160إِنْinIfيَنْصُرْكُمُyanṣur'kumuhelps youاللَّهُl-lahuAllahفَلَاfalāthen notغَالِبَghāliba(can) overcomeلَكُمْlakum[for] youوَإِنْwa-inand ifيَخْذُلْكُمْyakhdhul'kumHe forsakes youفَمَنْfamanthen whoذَاdhā(is)الَّذِيalladhīthe one whoيَنْصُرُكُمْyanṣurukumcan help youمِنْminfromبَعْدِهِbaʿdihiafter HimوَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd onاللَّهِl-lahiAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkalilet put (their) trustالْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers
  161. 161وَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisلِنَبِيٍّlinabiyyinfor a Prophetأَنْanthatيَغُلَّyaghullahe defraudsوَمَنْwamanAnd whoeverيَغْلُلْyaghluldefraudsيَأْتِyatiwill bringبِمَاbimāwhatغَلَّghallahe had defraudedيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) ResurrectionثُمَّthummaThenتُوَفَّىtuwaffāis repaid in fullكُلُّkullueveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulمَاwhatكَسَبَتْkasabatit earnedوَهُمْwahumand theyلَا(will) notيُظْلَمُونَyuẓ'lamūnabe wronged
  162. 162أَفَمَنِafamaniSo is (the one) whoاتَّبَعَittabaʿapursuesرِضْوَانَriḍ'wāna(the) pleasureاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahكَمَنْkamanlike (the one) whoبَاءَbāadrawsبِسَخَطٍbisakhaṭinon (himself) wrathمِنَminaofاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَأْوَاهُwamawāhuand his abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) hellوَبِئْسَwabi'saand wretchedالْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the destination
  163. 163هُمْhumTheyدَرَجَاتٌdarajātun(are in varying) degreesعِنْدَʿindanearاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahبَصِيرٌbaṣīrun(is) All-Seerبِمَاbimāof whatيَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do
  164. 164لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyمَنَّmannabestowed a Favorاللَّهُl-lahuAllahعَلَىʿalāuponالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersإِذْidhasبَعَثَbaʿathaHe raisedفِيهِمْfīhimamong themرَسُولًاrasūlana Messengerمِنْminfromأَنْفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselvesيَتْلُواyatlūrecitingعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto themءَايَاتِهِāyātihiHis Versesوَيُزَكِّيهِمْwayuzakkīhimand purifying themوَيُعَلِّمُهُمُwayuʿallimuhumuand teaching themالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookوَالْحِكْمَةَwal-ḥik'mataand the wisdomوَإِنْwa-inalthoughكَانُواkānūthey wereمِنْminfromقَبْلُqablubefore (that)لَفِيlafīcertainly inضَلَالٍḍalālin(the) errorمُبِينٍmubīninclear
  165. 165أَوَلَمَّاawalammāOrأَصَابَتْكُمْaṣābatkumwhenمُصِيبَةٌmuṣībatunstruck youقَدْqaddisasterأَصَبْتُمْaṣabtumsurelyمِثْلَيْهَاmith'layhāyou had struck (them)قُلْتُمْqul'tumtwice of itأَنَّىannāyou saidهَذَاhādhāFrom whereقُلْqul(is) thisهُوَhuwaSayمِنْminItعِنْدِʿindi(is) fromأَنْفُسِكُمْanfusikumyourselvesإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  166. 166وَمَاwamāAnd whatأَصَابَكُمْaṣābakumstruck youيَوْمَyawma(on the) dayالْتَقَىl-taqā(when) metالْجَمْعَانِl-jamʿānithe two hostsفَبِإِذْنِfabi-idh'niby (the) permissionاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaand that He (might) make evidentالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
  167. 167وَلِيَعْلَمَwaliyaʿlamaAnd that He (might) make evidentالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoنَافَقُواnāfaqū(are) hypocritesوَقِيلَwaqīlaAnd it was saidلَهُمْlahumto themتَعَالَوْاtaʿālawComeقَاتِلُواqātilūfightفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَوِawiorادْفَعُواid'faʿūdefendقَالُواqālūThey saidلَوْlawIfنَعْلَمُnaʿlamuwe knewقِتَالًاqitālanfightingلَاتَّبَعْنَاكُمْla-ittabaʿnākumcertainly we (would have) followed youهُمْhumTheyلِلْكُفْرِlil'kuf'rito disbeliefيَوْمَئِذٍyawma-idhinthat dayأَقْرَبُaqrabu(were) nearerمِنْهُمْmin'humthan [them]لِلْإِيمَانِlil'īmānito the faithيَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasayingبِأَفْواهِهِمْbi-afwāhihimwith their mouthsمَاwhatلَيْسَlaysawas notفِيinقُلُوبِهِمْqulūbihimtheir heartsوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahأَعْلَمُaʿlamu(is) Most Knowingبِمَاbimā(of) whatيَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnathey conceal
  168. 168الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoقَالُواqālūsaidلِإِخْوَانِهِمْli-ikh'wānihimabout their brothersوَقَعَدُواwaqaʿadūwhile they satلَوْlawIfأَطَاعُونَاaṭāʿūnāthey (had) obeyed usمَاnotقُتِلُواqutilūthey would have been killedقُلْqulSayفَادْرَءُواfa-id'raūThen avertعَنْʿanfromأَنْفُسِكُمُanfusikumuyourselvesالْمَوْتَl-mawta[the] deathإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  169. 169وَلَاwalāAnd (do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoقُتِلُواqutilūare killedفِيinسَبِيلِsabīli(the) wayاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahأَمْوَاتًاamwātan(as) deadبَلْbalNay!أَحْيَاءٌaḥyāonThey are aliveعِنْدَʿindanearرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lordيُرْزَقُونَyur'zaqūnathey are given provision
  170. 170فَرِحِينَfariḥīnaRejoicingبِمَاbimāin whatءَاتَاهُمُātāhumubestowed themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyوَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَwayastabshirūnaand they receive good tidingsبِالَّذِينَbi-alladhīnaabout those whoلَمْlam(have) notيَلْحَقُواyalḥaqūyet joinedبِهِمْbihim[with] themمِنْmin[from]خَلْفِهِمْkhalfihim(but are) left behindأَلَّاallāthat (there will be) noخَوْفٌkhawfunfearعَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon themوَلَاwalāand notهُمْhumtheyيَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve
  171. 171يَسْتَبْشِرُونَyastabshirūnaThey receive good tidingsبِنِعْمَةٍbiniʿ'matinof Favorمِنَminafromاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَفَضْلٍwafaḍlinand Bountyوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَا(does) notيُضِيعُyuḍīʿulet go wasteأَجْرَajra(the) rewardالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīna(of) the believers
  172. 172الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoاسْتَجَابُواis'tajābūrespondedلِلَّهِlillahito Allahوَالرَّسُولِwal-rasūliand the Messengerمِنْminfromبَعْدِbaʿdiafterمَاwhatأَصَابَهُمُaṣābahumubefell themالْقَرْحُl-qarḥuthe injuryلِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those whoأَحْسَنُواaḥsanūdid goodمِنْهُمْmin'humamong themوَاتَّقَوْاwa-ittaqawand feared Allahأَجْرٌajrun(is) a rewardعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  173. 173الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoقَالَqālasaidلَهُمُlahumuto themالنَّاسُl-nāsu[the people]إِنَّinnaIndeedالنَّاسَl-nāsathe peopleقَدْqad(have) certainlyجَمَعُواjamaʿūgatheredلَكُمْlakumagainst youفَاخْشَوْهُمْfa-ikh'shawhumso fear themفَزَادَهُمْfazādahumBut it increased themإِيمَانًاīmānan(in the) faithوَقَالُواwaqālūand they saidحَسْبُنَاḥasbunāSufficient for usاللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allahوَنِعْمَwaniʿ'maand (He is the) bestالْوَكِيلُl-wakīlu[the] Disposer of affairs
  174. 174فَانْقَلَبُواfa-inqalabūSo they returnedبِنِعْمَةٍbiniʿ'matinwith (the) Favorمِنَminaofاللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَفَضْلٍwafaḍlinand Bountyلَمْlamnotيَمْسَسْهُمْyamsashumtouched themسُوءٌsūonany harmوَاتَّبَعُواwa-ittabaʿūAnd they followedرِضْوَانَriḍ'wāna(the) pleasureاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahذُوdhū(is) Possessorفَضْلٍfaḍlin(of) Bountyعَظِيمٍʿaẓīmingreat
  175. 175إِنَّمَاinnamā(It is) onlyذَلِكُمُdhālikumuthatالشَّيْطَانُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaanيُخَوِّفُyukhawwifufrightens (you)أَوْلِيَاءَهُawliyāahu(of) his alliesفَلَاfalāSo (do) notتَخَافُوهُمْtakhāfūhumfear themوَخَافُونِwakhāfūnibut fear Meإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areمُؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers
  176. 176وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notيَحْزُنْكَyaḥzunkagrieve youالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيُسَارِعُونَyusāriʿūnahastenفِيin(to)الْكُفْرِl-kuf'ri[the] disbeliefإِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, theyلَنْlanneverيَضُرُّواyaḍurrūwill harmاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingيُرِيدُyurīduintendsاللَّهُl-lahuAllahأَلَّاallāthat notيَجْعَلَyajʿalaHe will setلَهُمْlahumfor themحَظًّاḥaẓẓanany portionفِيinالْءَاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe HereafterوَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  177. 177إِنَّinnaIndeedالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاشْتَرَوُاish'tarawū(have) purchasedالْكُفْرَl-kuf'ra[the] disbeliefبِالْإِيمَانِbil-īmāniwith the faithلَنْlanneverيَضُرُّواyaḍurrūwill they harmاللَّهَl-lahaAllahشَيْئًاshayan(in) anythingوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  178. 178وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notيَحْسَبَنَّyaḥsabannathinkالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedأَنَّمَاannamāthatنُمْلِيnum'līWe give respiteلَهُمْlahumto themخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) goodلِأَنْفُسِهِمْli-anfusihimfor themselvesإِنَّمَاinnamāOnlyنُمْلِيnum'līWe give respiteلَهُمْlahumto themلِيَزْدَادُواliyazdādūso that they may increaseإِثْمًاith'man(in) sinsوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishmentمُهِينٌmuhīnunhumiliating
  179. 179مَاNotكَانَkānaisاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيَذَرَliyadharato leaveالْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believersعَلَىʿalāonمَاwhatأَنْتُمْantumyou (are)عَلَيْهِʿalayhiin [it]حَتَّىḥattāuntilيَمِيزَyamīzaHe separatesالْخَبِيثَl-khabīthathe evilمِنَminafromالطَّيِّبِl-ṭayibithe goodوَمَاwamāAnd notكَانَkānaisاللَّهُl-lahuAllahلِيُطْلِعَكُمْliyuṭ'liʿakumto inform youعَلَىʿalāaboutالْغَيْبِl-ghaybithe unseenوَلَكِنَّwalākinna[and] butاللَّهَl-lahaAllahيَجْتَبِيyajtabīchoosesمِنْminfromرُسُلِهِrusulihiHis MessengersمَنْmanwhomيَشَاءُyashāuHe willsفَءَامِنُواfaāminūso believeبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَرُسُلِهِwarusulihiand His Messengersوَإِنْwa-inand ifتُؤْمِنُواtu'minūyou believeوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)فَلَكُمْfalakumthen for youأَجْرٌajrun(is a) rewardعَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat
  180. 180وَلَاwalāAnd (let) notيَحْسَبَنَّyaḥsabannathinkالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoيَبْخَلُونَyabkhalūnawithholdبِمَاbimāof whatءَاتَاهُمُātāhumu(has) given themاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِنْminofفَضْلِهِfaḍlihiHis Bountyهُوَhuwa(that) itخَيْرًاkhayran(is) goodلَهُمْlahumfor themبَلْbalNayهُوَhuwaitشَرٌّsharrun(is) badلَهُمْlahumfor themسَيُطَوَّقُونَsayuṭawwaqūnaTheir necks will be encircledمَا(with) whatبَخِلُواbakhilūthey withheldبِهِbihi[with it]يَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] ResurrectionوَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمِيرَاثُmīrāthu(is the) heritageالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahبِمَاbimāwith whatتَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou doخَبِيرٌkhabīrun(is) All-Aware
  181. 181لَقَدْlaqadCertainlyسَمِعَsamiʿaheardاللَّهُl-lahuAllahقَوْلَqawla(the) sayingالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoقَالُواqālūsaidإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahفَقِيرٌfaqīrun(is) poorوَنَحْنُwanaḥnuwhile weأَغْنِيَاءُaghniyāu(are) richسَنَكْتُبُsanaktubuWe will recordمَاwhatقَالُواqālūthey saidوَقَتْلَهُمُwaqatlahumuand their killingالْأَنْبِيَاءَl-anbiyāathe Prophetsبِغَيْرِbighayriwithoutحَقٍّḥaqqin(any) rightوَنَقُولُwanaqūluand We will sayذُوقُواdhūqūTasteعَذَابَʿadhāba(the) punishmentالْحَرِيقِl-ḥarīqi(of) the Burning Fire
  182. 182ذَلِكَdhālikaThatبِمَاbimā(is) becauseقَدَّمَتْqaddamat(of what) sent forthأَيْدِيكُمْaydīkumyour handsوَأَنَّwa-annaand thatاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَيْسَlaysais notبِظَلَّامٍbiẓallāminunjustلِلْعَبِيدِlil'ʿabīdito (His) slaves
  183. 183الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoقَالُواqālūsaidإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahعَهِدَʿahida(has) taken promiseإِلَيْنَاilaynāfrom usأَلَّاallāthat notنُؤْمِنَnu'minawe (should) believeلِرَسُولٍlirasūlinin a Messengerحَتَّىḥattāuntilيَأْتِيَنَاyatiyanāhe brings to usبِقُرْبَانٍbiqur'bānina sacrificeتَأْكُلُهُtakuluhuconsumes itالنَّارُl-nāruthe fireقُلْqulSayقَدْqadSurelyجَاءَكُمْjāakumcame to youرُسُلٌrusulunMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِيqablībefore meبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith the clear Signsوَبِالَّذِيwabi-alladhīand with whatقُلْتُمْqul'tumyou speakفَلِمَfalimaSo whyقَتَلْتُمُوهُمْqataltumūhumyou killed themإِنْinifكُنْتُمْkuntumyou areصَادِقِينَṣādiqīnatruthful
  184. 184فَإِنْfa-inThen ifكَذَّبُوكَkadhabūkathey reject youفَقَدْfaqadthen certainlyكُذِّبَkudhibawere rejectedرُسُلٌrusulunMessengersمِنْminfromقَبْلِكَqablikabefore youجَاءُوjāū(who) cameبِالْبَيِّنَاتِbil-bayinātiwith the clear Signsوَالزُّبُرِwal-zuburiand the Scripturesوَالْكِتَابِwal-kitābiand the Bookالْمُنِيرِl-munīri[the] Enlightening
  185. 185كُلُّkulluEveryنَفْسٍnafsinsoulذَائِقَةُdhāiqatu(will) tasteالْمَوْتِl-mawti[the] deathوَإِنَّمَاwa-innamāand onlyتُوَفَّوْنَtuwaffawnayou will be paid in fullأُجُورَكُمْujūrakumyour rewardيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] ResurrectionفَمَنْfamanThen whoeverزُحْزِحَzuḥ'ziḥais drawn awayعَنِʿanifromالنَّارِl-nārithe Fireوَأُدْخِلَwa-ud'khilaand admittedالْجَنَّةَl-janata(to) Paradiseفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyفَازَfāzahe is successfulوَمَاwamāAnd notالْحَيَوةُl-ḥayatu(is) the lifeالدُّنْيَاl-dun'yā(of) the worldإِلَّاillāexceptمَتَاعُmatāʿuenjoymentالْغُرُورِl-ghurūri(of) delusion
  186. 186لَتُبْلَوُنَّlatub'lawunnaYou will certainly be testedفِيinأَمْوَالِكُمْamwālikumyour wealthوَأَنْفُسِكُمْwa-anfusikumand yourselvesوَلَتَسْمَعُنَّwalatasmaʿunnaAnd you will certainly hearمِنَminafromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe Bookمِنْminfromقَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore youوَمِنَwaminaand fromالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoأَشْرَكُواashrakūassociate partners with Allahأَذًىadhanhurtful thingsكَثِيرًاkathīranmanyوَإِنْwa-inand ifتَصْبِرُواtaṣbirūyou are patientوَتَتَّقُواwatattaqūand fear (Allah)فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeedذَلِكَdhālikathatمِنْmin(is) ofعَزْمِʿazmithe mattersالْأُمُورِl-umūri(of) determination
  187. 187وَإِذْwa-idhAnd whenأَخَذَakhadhatookاللَّهُl-lahuAllahمِيثَاقَmīthāqaa Covenantالَّذِينَalladhīna(from) those whoأُوتُواūtūwere givenالْكِتَابَl-kitābathe BookلَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُlatubayyinunnahuYou certainly make it clearلِلنَّاسِlilnnāsito the mankindوَلَاwalāand (do) notتَكْتُمُونَهُtaktumūnahuconceal itفَنَبَذُوهُfanabadhūhuThen they threw itوَرَاءَwarāabehindظُهُورِهِمْẓuhūrihimtheir backsوَاشْتَرَوْاwa-ish'tarawand they exchangedبِهِbihi[with] itثَمَنًاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleفَبِئْسَfabi'saAnd wretchedمَا(is) whatيَشْتَرُونَyashtarūnathey purchase
  188. 188لَا(Do) notتَحْسَبَنَّtaḥsabannathinkالَّذِينَalladhīna(that) those whoيَفْرَحُونَyafraḥūnarejoiceبِمَاbimāin whatأَتَوْاataw(they have) broughtوَيُحِبُّونَwayuḥibbūnaand they loveأَنْanthatيُحْمَدُواyuḥ'madūthey be praisedبِمَاbimāfor whatلَمْlamnotيَفْعَلُواyafʿalūthey doفَلَاfalāso (do) notتَحْسَبَنَّهُمْtaḥsabannahumthink (that) theyبِمَفَازَةٍbimafāzatin(will) escapeمِنَminafromالْعَذَابِl-ʿadhābithe punishmentوَلَهُمْwalahumand for themعَذَابٌʿadhābun(is a) punishmentأَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
  189. 189وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allahمُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominionالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَاللَّهُwal-lahuand Allahعَلَىʿalā(is) onكُلِّkullieveryشَيْءٍshayinthingقَدِيرٌqadīrunAll-Powerful
  190. 190إِنَّinnaIndeedفِيinخَلْقِkhalqi(the) creationالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthوَاخْتِلَافِwa-ikh'tilāfiand (in the) alternationاللَّيْلِal-layli(of) the nightوَالنَّهَارِwal-nahāriand the dayلَءَايَاتٍlaāyātin(are) surely Signsلِأُولِيli-ulīfor menالْأَلْبَابِl-albābi(of) understanding
  191. 191الَّذِينَalladhīnaThose whoيَذْكُرُونَyadhkurūnarememberاللَّهَl-lahaAllahقِيَامًاqiyāmanstandingوَقُعُودًاwaquʿūdanand sittingوَعَلَىwaʿalāand onجُنُوبِهِمْjunūbihimtheir sidesوَيَتَفَكَّرُونَwayatafakkarūnaand they reflectفِيonخَلْقِkhalqi(the) creationالسَّمَاوَاتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavensوَالْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earthرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur LordمَاnotخَلَقْتَkhalaqtaYou have createdهَذَاhādhāthisبَاطِلًاbāṭilan(in) vainسُبْحَانَكَsub'ḥānakaGlory be to Youفَقِنَاfaqināso save usعَذَابَʿadhāba(from the) punishmentالنَّارِl-nāri(of) the Fire
  192. 192رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordإِنَّكَinnakaindeed [You]مَنْmanwhomتُدْخِلِtud'khiliYou admitالنَّارَl-nāra(to) the Fireفَقَدْfaqadthen surelyأَخْزَيْتَهُakhzaytahuYou (have) disgraced himوَمَاwamāand notلِلظَّالِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnafor the wrongdoersمِنْmin(are) anyأَنْصَارٍanṣārinhelpers
  193. 193رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordإِنَّنَاinnanāindeed weسَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nā[we] heardمُنَادِيًاmunādiyana callerيُنَادِيyunādīcallingلِلْإِيمَانِlil'īmānito the faithأَنْanthatءَامِنُواāminūBelieveبِرَبِّكُمْbirabbikumin your Lordفَءَامَنَّاfaāmannāso we have believedرَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordفَاغْفِرْfa-igh'firso forgiveلَنَاlanāfor usذُنُوبَنَاdhunūbanāour sinsوَكَفِّرْwakaffirand removeعَنَّاʿannāfrom usسَيِّئَاتِنَاsayyiātināour evil deedsوَتَوَفَّنَاwatawaffanāand cause us to dieمَعَmaʿawithالْأَبْرَارِl-abrārithe righteous
  194. 194رَبَّنَاrabbanāOur Lordوَءَاتِنَاwaātināgrant usمَاwhatوَعَدْتَنَاwaʿadttanāYou promised usعَلَىʿalāthroughرُسُلِكَrusulikaYour Messengersوَلَاwalāand (do) notتُخْزِنَاtukh'zinādisgrace usيَوْمَyawma(on the) Dayالْقِيَامَةِl-qiyāmati(of) [the] ResurrectionإِنَّكَinnakaIndeed Youلَا(do) notتُخْلِفُtukh'lifubreakالْمِيعَادَl-mīʿādathe promise
  195. 195فَاسْتَجَابَfa-is'tajābaThen respondedلَهُمْlahumto themرَبُّهُمْrabbuhumtheir LordأَنِّيannīIndeed Iلَا(will) notأُضِيعُuḍīʿu(let go) wasteعَمَلَʿamaladeedsعَامِلٍʿāmilin(of the) doerمِنْكُمْminkumamong youمِنْmin[from]ذَكَرٍdhakarin(whether) maleأَوْaworأُنْثَىunthāfemaleبَعْضُكُمْbaʿḍukumeach of youمِنْminfromبَعْضٍbaʿḍin(the) otherفَالَّذِينَfa-alladhīnaSo those whoهَاجَرُواhājarūemigratedوَأُخْرِجُواwa-ukh'rijūand were driven outمِنْminfromدِيَارِهِمْdiyārihimtheir homesوَأُوذُواwaūdhūand were harmedفِيinسَبِيلِيsabīlīMy wayوَقَاتَلُواwaqātalūand foughtوَقُتِلُواwaqutilūand were killedلَأُكَفِّرَنَّla-ukaffirannasurely I (will) removeعَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom themسَيِّئَاتِهِمْsayyiātihimtheir evil deedsوَلَأُدْخِلَنَّهُمْwala-ud'khilannahumand surely I will admit themجَنَّاتٍjannātin(to) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowingمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversثَوَابًاthawābana rewardمِنْminfromعِنْدِʿindi[near]اللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَاللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allahعِنْدَهُʿindahuwith Himحُسْنُḥus'nu(is the) bestالثَّوَابِl-thawābireward
  196. 196لَا(Let) notيَغُرَّنَّكَyaghurrannakadeceive youتَقَلُّبُtaqallubu(the) movementالَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those whoكَفَرُواkafarūdisbelievedفِيinالْبِلَادِl-bilādithe land
  197. 197مَتَاعٌmatāʿunAn enjoymentقَلِيلٌqalīlunlittleثُمَّthummathenمَأْوَاهُمْmawāhumtheir abodeجَهَنَّمُjahannamu(is) hellوَبِئْسَwabi'sa[and] a wretchedالْمِهَادُl-mihādu[the] resting place
  198. 198لَكِنِlākiniButالَّذِينَalladhīnathose whoاتَّقَوْاittaqawfearرَبَّهُمْrabbahumtheir Lordلَهُمْlahumfor themجَنَّاتٌjannātun(will be) Gardensتَجْرِيtajrīflowsمِنْminfromتَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath themالْأَنْهَارُl-anhāruthe riversخَالِدِينَkhālidīnawill abide foreverفِيهَاfīhāin itنُزُلًاnuzulana hospitalityمِنْminfromعِنْدِʿindi[near]اللَّهِl-lahiAllahوَمَاwamāAnd thatعِنْدَʿinda(which is) withاللَّهِl-lahiAllahخَيْرٌkhayrun(is) bestلِلْأَبْرَارِlil'abrārifor the righteous
  199. 199وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeedمِنْminamongأَهْلِahli(the) Peopleالْكِتَابِl-kitābi(of) the Bookلَمَنْlaman(are those) whoيُؤْمِنُyu'minubelieveبِاللَّهِbil-lahiin Allahوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedإِلَيْكُمْilaykumto youوَمَاwamāand whatأُنْزِلَunzilawas revealedإِلَيْهِمْilayhimto themخَاشِعِينَkhāshiʿīnahumbly submissiveلِلَّهِlillahito AllahلَاNotيَشْتَرُونَyashtarūna(do) they exchangeبِءَايَاتِbiāyāti[with] (the) Versesاللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allahثَمَنًاthamanan(for) a priceقَلِيلًاqalīlanlittleأُولَئِكَulāikaThoseلَهُمْlahumfor themأَجْرُهُمْajruhumtheir rewardعِنْدَʿinda(is) withرَبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir LordإِنَّinnaIndeedاللَّهَl-lahaAllahسَرِيعُsarīʿu(is) swiftالْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in taking) the account
  200. 200يَاأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO youالَّذِينَalladhīnawhoءَامَنُواāmanūbelieve[d]!اصْبِرُواiṣ'birūBe steadfastوَصَابِرُواwaṣābirūand [be] patientوَرَابِطُواwarābiṭūand [be] constantوَاتَّقُواwa-ittaqūand fearاللَّهَl-lahaAllahلَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūna(be) successful
